"Am I," she questions mockingly, knowing full well that Buck does, in fact, have a very good point there. His correctness, unfortunately for him, does not inspire any movement on her part. Oh no, he started this; he got pushy. Watching Buck press his hands together, practically bowing as he begs is amusing enough to make Hen smile.
"What are you doing Saturday night," Hen asks, smile widening. This is even better; this is perfect. There were certainly less underhanded ways to ask Buck to babysit, but given how desperate he is now, Hen absolutely is going to take advantage. It's not her fault Buck makes it so easy to play him like a fool.
"hen, i love you but you are tempting the clock." the alarm could sound at any minute, sending them all away from the table and back into their turnouts. his hands come together, palms raised in a pleading motion as he leans forward. he gives in to begging despite the hunger that makes him much less pleasing and rational. "please, please hen would you join us for the second best meal ever?"

(I made this little headcanon then had to write a fic for it. Here's 2k words of the 118 being obsessed with Tommy ft. Bobby being a dad, of course. Enjoy here or on ao3!)
The Problem
Buck has a problem.
He knows it shouldn't be a problem. Knows he should be grateful. He's never had anything like this before. Never felt so secure in his life. Work is good, home is good, friends are good, family's good, and his boyfriend... well, he's really good.
Buck is in love, like really and truly in love, for the first time ever. Yes, he's said it before, and maybe he meant it, but not like this. He's never had this much stability, and care, and comfort, and security. Buck doesn't just love Tommy, he feels loved by Tommy. Since the moment the words I love you slipped out of Tommy's mouth, there has never been a doubt in his mind that Tommy means it. And he knows that Tommy feels the same way about him too.
But none of that is the problem.
The problem is he's not the only one who loves Tommy.
All of his coworkers love Tommy.
A lot.
Apparently he is a very popular guy with the 118. Buck always knew Tommy was a cool guy, even when he first tried and failed to discredit the claim, but he didn't realize that every single one of his coworkers would also think Tommy was the coolest guy to ever walk the planet.
Okay, maybe they didn't actually think that, but it was obvious that they liked him and they wanted to be around him.
All. The. Time.
At first it was cute. Buck was thrilled that everyone liked the person he was dating. He was overjoyed that they always had something positive to say about Tommy, that they had him included in group chats, and invited him to hangout with the team after a shift.
Then it became... a lot to manage.
Chimney and Tommy had a long history, so it was to be expected that they would hang out on occasion. They both loved to watch classic movies and, while Buck didn't mind one every once in a while, he wasn't a huge fan of black and white so he let them have their time with that. He just didn't expect Chimney to add the Old Classics Movie Network to his cable subscription so there was always another movie being recorded that they needed to watch and analyze.
Tommy and Eddie were already friends, and Buck and Eddie were best friends, so it was easy for the three of them to hang out. Buck could get into wrestling, he liked karaoke trivia, and he was a big fan of learning Muay Thai. But that's where Eddie had a problem.
“Every time you come to Muay Thai,” Eddie whined, “you and Tommy end up going one round, get all horned up, and leave early.”
“All horned up?” Buck repeated with a glare. “What are we, fifteen?”
“You're banned from Muay Thai,” he declared, holding up a finger to silence Buck's incoming protests, “at least once a week.”
Then there was Hen, who Buck thought would care the least of them all.
He was wrong.
She became convinced that she was the reason he and Tommy ever got together, not Chimney.
“Chimney may have been the one to contact Tommy, but it was me who planted the seed in his head,” she'd say, “so I was actually the one who connected you two.”
It turns out Tommy and Karen also had a lot of similar interests, so one double date turned into regular double dates. Often, Karen was texting or calling Tommy to set up the next double date before Buck even knew a thing about it.
Hen also enjoyed Tommy's dry humor. They could battle back and forth for hours in sarcasm wars, and often enjoyed hating on the same things.
Even Ravi wedged his way into Tommy's life. He actually wanted flying lessons for other purposes than staring at Tommy for hours at a time while he rambled on about what each button did.
And Tommy was so kind, so insanely, annoyingly, kind that he always made time for everybody. Buck had no idea how he did it, but he did. He even always had time for Buck too, Buck just wanted more of it.
He knew it was selfish. He knew Tommy deserved to have all the friends and found family in the world, which is why he'd never say anything to him about it.
But, he could talk to Bobby. Ask Bobby to talk to the rest of the team, because he'd tried and they wouldn't listen to him. Or, maybe Bobby could just schedule him off a day where everyone else worked? Give Buck and Tommy a day where distractions weren't possible, because all of the distractions were busy at the station. Surely he could do something.
He should've known better.
The second he tapped on Bobby's office door, Bobby excitedly waved him in.
“It came in the mail today,” he declared, as if Buck was supposed to know what that meant.
“Wh- What came in the mail?” Buck asked cautiously as he sat down.
“The murder mystery game Tommy and I talked about last time you guys came over. I had no clue he was so into puzzles and mysteries. I already talked to Tommy, and you two are coming over for dinner tonight.”
“We are?” Buck asked. This was a lot of information to be thrown his way so quickly.
“Yes. Well, he actually said he'd ask you about it and then confirm, but you already said you didn't have plans earlier, so...”
He should've known that question was a trap. Bobby had asked what everyone's plans were while they were on the way to a call earlier in the day. Buck had answered that he and Tommy didn't have any, which was risky, but his mind went blank in the moment. His actual plans involved a lot of nudity, mind blowing sex, and hopefully some whipped cream, but he was trying to not be so blatant about his sex life anymore.
But now Bobby was looking at him with wide, excited eyes, and he did remember Tommy talking about that game, and Bobby's food was always so good, so it wasn't like he could say no.
“Yeah, of course it's fine.”
Which led them to now, having just enough time to shower and change before driving over to Bobby and Athena's place.
“I know we haven't had as much us time lately,” Tommy said as they reached the door. Of course he did. Of course he noticed everything. “So we'll stay for dinner, and do this game, and we'll go by nine.”
Buck tried to play it cool. “No rush.”
“Evan,” Tommy replied knowingly, dropping a kiss on his temple, “we'll go by nine.”
Who was Buck to argue? “Yeah... Yeah, okay.”
Dinner went smoothly, as if there was another option. Tommy was always great at keeping up conversation, and he and Bobby knew tons of people to reminisce about and catch up on. Tommy had a long history with Athena as well, and a lot of mutual respect between the two, so the conversation never stalled.
It wasn't like Buck was ever left out either. Bobby and Athena were his family; more of his parents than his actual parents. Bobby cared for him, loved him, watched over him in ways his father never did. Athena was a dose of reality when he needed it. She was stern, expected the best from him, and didn't whitewash anything. He felt more comfortable in their home than he ever did in the house he grew up in.
And Tommy always had a hand on his leg, or his back, including him in the conversation or bragging on whatever he did at work that week. When Buck talked, Tommy looked at him like nothing else existed in the world. He listened, hung on to every word.
He made Buck feel special.
Which is why Buck wanted to take him home, rip off all of his clothes, and adore every inch of his body.
He couldn't do that yet though, because it was only seven-thirty and they still had to play the murder mystery game.
It started innocently enough. It was a fun game with pictures, paperwork, some evidence, and background on all the suspects. Buck figured they'd read through the material, follow along, and they'd be led to the murderer in no time.
Then Bobby rolled out the cork board and began pinning suspect photographs and pictures from the “crime scene”.
Things devolved from there.
Athena gave up before nine. “I solve murders all day long, I don't want to do it all night too.”
Buck still held out hope they'd leave on time.
Another mistake.
“Hon, it's getting late,” Buck said a little after nine, gently patting Tommy's back. They were sitting beside one another at the dining room table. Buck had been half paying attention, half going through a Wikipedia rabbit hole that started with active US serial killers and had somehow ended up on the origins of duct tape. “Maybe we should let them get some rest.”
“Buck, we haven't solved the murder yet,” Bobby replied, lifting both of his hands to show all the paperwork. “Cassie's ex-boyfriend is a prime suspect, but I have no physical evidence to prove he did it.”
“I think we should look more into the circus clown,” Tommy replied, handing Bobby yet another piece of fictional paperwork. “I learned a long time ago that you never trust a clown.”
“We already cleared the clown. He had an alibi.”
“Did he though? His best friend, the balloon artist, was his alibi. The clown could've paid him off.”
That's when Buck decided he'd be better off slipping away and joining Athena in the living room.
“Would you like some leftover pie?” Athena asked, eyebrow raised knowingly, as she lifted up her own slice.
Buck nodded. “I got it.”
He returned a moment later, pie in hand, extra whipped cream. He sat down on the couch, across from where Athena was curled up on the loveseat.
“There's not much on right now,” Athena said, staring at the TV, “but these home improvement shows always find a way to reel me in.”
“As long as it's not a murder mystery, I'll enjoy it.”
Athena let out a laugh. “They're in it deep, aren't they?”
“I'm not sure an actual murder would take them away from that game.”
Athena shook her head, peering into the dining room. “Our boys are something else, aren't they?”
Buck smiled. He couldn't help the butterflies in his stomach. The night may not be going as planned, but there was something so sweet, so domestic, about it all.
Everything felt... right.
“Yeah,” he replied, “they're something.”
Two more shows started and ended, and Tommy and Bobby could still be heard in the other room, arguing about whether it was the clown or the ex.
“You know, I looked up that game a while ago,” Athena whispered into the darkness of the living room, the only light from flashes on the TV, “and it wasn't the clown or the ex.”
Buck sighed sleepily. “I think we'll be spending the night tonight,” he mumbled, his eyes slowly closing where he laid on the couch.
“Already made up the guest bedroom,” Athena replied, taking another sip of her drink. “New toothbrushes in the bathroom too.”
It'd be another two hours before Tommy would come and gently wake up Buck and lead him to the guest bedroom. They'd brush their teeth, and change into some of Bobby's pajama pants before snuggling in bed.
And then, before the sun rose, Tommy would be popping up from a dead sleep to exclaim, “It was the candlemaker!” before running out of the room, and apparently right into Bobby who- from the sounds of their mumbled laughter and high fives- had the same epiphany.
Yeah, Buck had a problem. And he hoped he had it for the rest of his life.

Four Times Buck Sits in Tommy’s Lap + 1
on ao3 3.6k words, fluff, bucktommy established relationship ft henren and tarlos
The thing about Evan Buckley is that if Tommy’s lap is available, he’ll find himself in it. This time’s no exception. He has a happy buzz going, the kind that makes him feel warm in the chest and a little lightheaded. He and Hen might have had a shot or three of tequila and he can taste a hint of lime and salt on his bottom lip as he licks it, while looking at his absolute beast of a boyfriend from across the yard. He’s animatedly talking to Maddie and Karen, and seeing how seamlessly he fits in with his family makes Buck’s heart skip a beat.

EVAN BUCKLEY + thinking chris is too young (ft. Eddie, who’s fondly exasperated with his husband co-parent while also being in denial)
[Image ID: four gifs of Evan Buckley and Eddie Diaz from 9-1-1 episodes 3.18, "What's Next" and 6.08, "9-1-1 What's Your Fantasy.":
GIF 1: Buck turning around to face Eddie, looking passionately against the idea of Christopher going to sumer camp for two weeks in 3.18. He says, "Two weeks away from home? Isn't Chris kind of young for that?"
GIF 2: Buck and Eddie walking together after a fire in 6.08, as Eddie tells the team about Christopher possibly having a crush. Buck sounds just as passionate as he says, "Isn't Chris kind of young to start dating?"
GIF 3: Eddie dryly gesturing towards himself with Hen's MCAT papers as he looks as Buck and says, "I'm pretty sure I brought in the brochure so you guys can make me feel better about him going."
GIF 4: Eddie's expression creasing as he looks at Buck and dryly says, "It’s not like he’s taking ‘em out to dinner and a movie. He’s just going out to a school party." He sounds more like he's trying to convince himself.

Tease Tidbit Tuesday
Tagged by @disasterbuckdiaz. Thank you lovely 😘 xx
Coming at you with more from when your heart releases, you won’t fall to pieces aka the Eddie breakdown fic (from Buck’s POV). I’m having a wonderful time writing this fic .. especially the Taylor/Buck breakup which I wasn’t expecting to dive into so much, but the story wanted to take me there so I followed.
Prev snippet here
“I’m sorry.”
He doesn’t know what else to say, doesn’t know that there is anything else to say. He is sorry. Not for loving Eddie, he’ll never be sorry for that, but he is sorry he stayed even after figuring out his feelings. It wasn’t fair to Taylor, or to himself.
Taylor wipes at her eyes as she swallows thickly. “Me too.”
Buck doesn’t know what she’s apologising for. Maybe for also staying when she figured out Buck would never, could never, love her, not fully. Not when his heart beats to the rhythm of Eddie Eddie Eddie.
“You should go. Best not keep your family waiting.”
He doesn’t know if she meant it as one last dig, a finger in the bullet wound she’d left earlier, but all it comes across as is resigned, defeated. She knows when Eddie calls, Buck will come running, that not even 30 ft of mud will keep him from trying to get to him. And she knows why.
There’s nothing else he can say to her, thinks that even if there were, she probably doesn’t want to hear it right now. Maybe when their wounds aren’t so fresh, when they’ve had a chance to hide away and lick them clean, they can try and talk.

Inspiration Saturday Monday ✨
So I haven’t been posting all weekend but then I was talking to @watchyourbuck and an old idea of mine was revived lol. Let’s call it the protective custody au (ft a moodboard)
Tumblr media
(Idea and tags under cut)
So this is inspired by an episode of bones (also one of my fave shows).
Eddie is a former professor from Mexico who witnessed a high level of political corruption in the past and if the truth comes out, it could crumble the entire political party. To protect him, the FBI puts him under witness protection and he had to leave everything that he knows behind. Essentially, all he can do is just sit around and wait for the trial to begin. He can never return to Mexico nor can he ever be completely free, always looking over his shoulder because there’s a target on his back - politicians not wanting to get their hands dirty so they enlist trained professionals to go after him. It doesn’t feel like a real life and he hates every single second of it.
To make sure that he’s not getting into trouble and following the instructions that has been given to him, he’s assigned a protective detail - Special Agent Evan Buckley. He has to check with Eddie at given times during the week at the safe house and Eddie hates it, hates him because he’s way too brazen and cocky about everything. There’s a lot of tension between them but they make it work because well, Eddie doesn’t want to die and Buck doesn’t want to lose his job. They spend a lot of time together and slowly things between them start to shift into something that it shouldn’t. But they’re drawn to each other and they know that if something goes wrong, it could have fatal repercussions.

AN ~ from this prompt list ; 8. a platonic kiss. ft. the buckley-hans. hurt/comfort, set during 7x10 (written before airing, no spoilers).
shoutout to twinpoles , apparently an aussie thing ? truly the mvps of tummy no feel good
-
Maddie strokes her daughter's hair and moves a little closer. She breathes in the smell of her bubblegum shampoo and her sleepy little smile and the way her chest rises and falls gently. She wishes for the thousandth time that she could wrap her whole body around this little one and protect her for the rest of time. Her heart aches for Hen and Karen, and Denny for having this ripped away. For Mara, and that cheeky little laugh she'd only just started letting out. And now for Chimney, for Buck, for Bobby... for the hits that won't stop coming for them.
She glances toward the bedroom door. She can't quite see Chim, but the way the light cuts tells her he's still in the kitchen. Probably still at the bench, nursing the glass of wine, right where she left him. She sighs quietly, wishing she could help relieve the weight of the world, and presses a kiss to the top of Jee's head. On his behalf? To channel this overwhelming sense of love to him? Just for something to do, because she feels so helpless.
Jee-Yun looks up at her.
“Mummy sad?”
“Yeah, sweetie,” she confesses. “I'm sad.”
“Why?”
“Because your Daddy's sad.”
“Daddy sad.” Jee looks out to where he should be. “Why?”
Because his Captain is dying, Maddie thinks, and she swallows down a haunting echo of the ventilator. Because his best friend is having her life ripped apart from the inside. Because this world is sometimes such a cruel and brutal place to be, and it's not fair.
“Because,” she settles eventually on, “...his friend isn't feeling very well.”
“Oh.”
If there's one thing to be said for a three-year-old Buckley-Han, it's that she's resilient. And surprisingly optimistic. And she gets herself out of bed before Maddie quite knows what's going on (“Oh, Jee honey-”) and she's padding off toward the kitchen on those little toddler feet, resolute.
Jee knows just what to do in this situation. Not feeling well? Why didn't they say so! It's hard work to pull the freezer open but she manages it, and she gets a bowl and her favourite popsicle. It's the best for sore tummies. It's yellow and pink and you can snap it in half and both have one. Even better, for Daddy to share with his friend.
“Hey, kiddo,” Chimney greets uncertainly, hoping his voice doesn't crackle too much. He's hyper conscious of the tear stains down his face but Jee doesn't seem to notice. She's still concentrating on the present she's brought her silly parents. These things are so simple to her, and it's sweet, and it hurts. “What's this?”
Chim glances toward Maddie, who's chased-without-chasing Jee out of the bedroom and currently looks like she's about to melt into a puddle of heartbreak and admiration right there on the floor.
“I told her your friend isn't feeling well,” she explains.
“Oh.” Yeah, turning into a puddle would be great right about now. Instead, he reaches down and pulls Jee-Yun up into his lap. “Thank you, sweetie. That's very thoughtful.”
She presses a sloppy toddler kiss to his cheek, and still doesn't seem to pay mind to the tears. Or maybe she does, and maybe that's why she did it.
“Daddy not sad anymore?”
“Daddy's still a little bit sad,” he says. “But happy now, too.”
She laughs. “That doesn't make any sense.”
“I know, kiddo.” Chim sighs. “It will one day.”
For today though, he hitches Jee onto his hip and carries her back to the bedroom. He and Maddie cradle around her like two wings of a butterfly, and watch her fall asleep smiling; dreaming of a world where all problems can be solved with a pineapple raspberry popsicle stick.
Maddie reaches her hand across the bed and he takes it, and they eventually drift off too, with their little girl between them and fingers intertwined.

Episode 1: Island of Misfit Toys
The last probationary firefighter had barely lasted five weeks, the shifts instead surviving on transfers and temporary floaters cycling in and out, the house heavy with its own legacy of neglect. “Island of misfit toys” Hen had called it on Bobby’s first day. She hadn’t been wrong. But in the fourteen months since Bobby arrived, they’ve been slowly laying down bricks, building a new foundation for the firehouse. Or, a new probie arrives at the 118. This is how it comes together. This is how it falls apart.
If you, like me, watched the pilot episode and went "Bruce Springsteen concert? Pops? These two would never..." If you, like me, watched 2x16 Bobby Begins Again and saw "welcome to the 118, Buck" and thought back to "we are not a family" and went "...there's a story there". If you, unlike me, want to read that story and not actually write it... welcome to My Father's House, a 7 episode 9-1-1 fanfic series, pre-s1 through Bobby's eyes. It's been two years in the making.
Ft. the Nash family legacy, the original Buckley Jeep, and a whole lot of bruce springsteen

5. What’s a fic idea you’ve had that you will never write?
So many lol. Ages ago I half-planned an AU where Eddie (and Chris) went into witness protection and Buck was the U.S. Marshal assigned to them. I'll never write it because it would be a lot of work and I don't think I have the whole story in me but have some of the random notes I had:
Eddie saw something while working after his discharge from the army (drug smuggling or murder or smthn, undecided)
The Diazes get sent to live in Philadelphia and Buck goes with them ft lots of Buckley flavoured angst about being back in the state for the first time since leaving home
Hen, Chim, Buck and Bobby are all U.S. Marshals (Bobby is supervisor and they're all very found family as always)
Athena is ex-CIA but probably still involved in shady spy things (can you ever really get out of that business?)
Maddie works for Marshals in some capacity (back office, undecided what though)
Fake relationship??? Idk but for protection reasons Buck lives with the Diazes so they need a cover story. Or maybe everyone in their new town just assumes they're together because they're Like That even though they claim to just be housemates
Buck does something reckless to protect Eddie and Chris and Eddie has Emotions about it
Eddie probably also does something reckless to protect Buck/Chris and ends up hurt so then it's Buck's turn to have Emotions
Basically they're just very stupid and self-sacrificing
I wrote this one bit:
The house is nice, in a cliche, suburban kind of way. Three bed, two bath, a backyard—enough space for two-point-four kids and a dog. It’s the American Dream. Buck hates it on sight.
Actually that's a lie I also wrote this so that makes two bits:
“You’re sending me to Pennsylvania? “Is that a problem?” Yes, Buck wants to say. Of course it’s a problem, I haven’t set foot in the state since I was nineteen and I swore I never would again. He swallows the words. “No. No problem.” Bobby looks at him for another long moment, assessing, and then he nods. “Good. You leave on Wednesday.”

thank you for tagging me @wildlife4life & @jeeyuns 🥰
wedding dance fic is officially DONE so here have a wip i started like a week after the finale and forgot about for three months 😭
The fourth time he comes in, it’s with a flung open door and a distraught expression, Eddie barely making it to the counter before he huffs out, “Buck thinks I’m interested in you!”  The blonde, gorgeous customer who Emily is currently making a drink for, looks up from her phone and side-eyes Eddie, who gives her an awkward smile back.  Emily pumps a shot of espresso into Pretty Blonde’s drink and shakes it, unimpressed, before asking, “Did you tell him I’m gay?”  “No, of course not — wait.” Eddie pauses. “Should I have?”  Pretty Blonde is now looking at her, and Emily gives her a wink before setting down the drink and turning to Eddie. “Go ahead. It’s not like I’m hiding it,” she says, gesturing to the rainbow flag that’s been pinned to the strap of her apron since her very first day. “And I think you could use the excuse.”  Eddie nods. “Yeah, that’s — yeah. Okay.”
ft. Queer Disaster Eddie Diaz being hopelessly in love with his boy best friend and befriending every known lesbian in a ten mile radius!! this fic is a lot sillier than i let my writing be normally so i'm very excited for it 🥰
i have no idea who’s done this so i'm tagging @diazblunt @shitouttabuck @captain-hen @loserdiaz @eowon @911onabc @housewifebuck @basiltonpitch and anyone else who would like to share :)

- Nice to see that family on the cruise- I had been wondering a bit about the pov of the other passengers- but I feel like we usually see other povs in opening big emergencies earlier in the arc as opposed to the final episode
- It was cool seeing them figure out how to get Norman down, and I liked Bathena mentioning Buck
- Surprised after seeing the promo photos Bobby's back was hurt again at all, though also slightly salty about the missed opportunity to actually show Bobby's back hurt after not really showing Bobby's back bothering him at all after a roof fell on him or after the bridge collapse
- I wish we got to see more of Buck's reaction to Bathena being in danger, or at least some scene with Buck really worried about Bobby- guessing we'll have to wait longer for the first father/son moment on ABC
- Poor Wes
- Loved that scene with Hen and Tommy and Hen finding the boys in the helicopter and also loved that scene with them all in the helicopter in the storm
- I liked the ending they gave Julian, and of course that part of Athena firing the flare gun after
- Also wish we'd seen Athena's reaction to seeing it wasn't just anyone in the helicopter but Hen and the boys
- Definitely feel the pacing could've been better in terms of such a short moment of the firefam actually rescuing them as opposed to just finding the ship then seeing them on the board after, though I liked that scene of the boats on the water ft. Bathena's reunion and also loved that Bobby and Hen moment
- I was surprised Norman survived
- When Norman and Lola were talking I somehow forgot Lola was going to jail until they cuffed her
