PHYLLOPHOBIA tells the story of an alternate BFDIA 5, one where the challenge goes terribly awry. What can one condone in the name of survival?

One of my snails just got severely (but probably not life-threateningly) injured in a freak accident 😞
I opened the lid of the tank to put food in and Nautilus who was stuck to the underside fell off. Now this is quite common and is usually fine, I don't have any rocks in the tank so that they wouldn't break their shell on them when this happens. But I DO have some sticks arranged in there, and he managed to fall in exactly the right place for the upward-pointed end of one of them to stab him in the foot. Y'all, I saw it pierce a hole right in front of my eyes. If snails had blood there would've been a lot of it spilled.
Very understandably, he immediately reacted by producing a shit ton of bubbly slime in that "leave me alone aaaaa!!!" panic response that snails do (I actually didn't know for sure that giant African land snails in particular do that until now) and clasping the two sides of his foot tightly together to cover the wound. There's basically nothing I can do about it as far as I know except just hope he can heal it. It's not like I can even look at the wound without risking causing more damage.
Needless to say I immediately moved that stick so that that end doesn't point upwards any more. It never occurred to me that that could be a problem

Beri The Bubble Snail
(Hydatina amplustre)
I had a lot of fun with this one. He's a wizard specialising in slime and bubble magic!
Bubble snails (order Cephalaspidea) are a group of marine snails with soft shells and are often brightly coloured. This species is most commonly known as the Royal Paperbubble, which is both ridiculous and adorable. First described by Linnaeus in his 1758 edition of Systema Naturae, the Royal Paperbubble can be found on shallow reefs in the Tropical Indo-West Pacific and is a predator suspected to feed on a group of polychaete worms. Unlike other snails you may be aware of, members of Beri's family (Aplustridae) cannot hide in their shells because they are too small.
Get him on Redbubble!
