The fish in my 20g long have been dying off. It's really sad for me. I think maybe columnaris? I just got a new medication delivered which I will be adding today.
The shrimp are unbothered by whatever is killing the fish. I'm planning to move in the next six months or so...no plans on acquiring new fish until after that happens, I'm already stressed about moving my three tanks of nano fish and inverts (and six cats. and my 16.5 year-old dog). But I would like to save the remaining occupants if I can. :(

My tanks are heavily planted, so if I want to see a bunch of shrimps at once I put in a tasty treat like this shrimp lolly.

I added a trio of peacock gudgeon to the 40B. I'm really enjoying them, they are active, beautiful and have weird little personalities. At first one of the peacocks and one of the red pencil fish had a wary habit of circling and chasing each other, but it stopped after a few days.
They also seem really hardy - one jumped while I was acclimating them to the tank and I found it on the floor, picking it up was no easy feat and then I just ran and tossed it into the tank. I had thought it might die from shock or stress, but is doing great weeks later. They have also been eating well, I had read they might be picky and hard to feed. At first they only wanted frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp but now they try everything including pellets.
Bonus: Lemon the bristlenose is getting large and bushy and honestly a little belligerent.

10g, really a jungle. Cherry shrimp and ramshorn snails but strongly considering fish again
40b. Quite lush...I kind of miss being able to see the hardscape since I worked so hard on the design but I feel like all the plants are better for the fish and inverts 🤷🏼♀️
20long...struggling with green hair algae but the inhabitants don't seem to mind

I love my aquariums but at the same time I'm not sure it's the best hobby for an anxious, obsessive person like me.
My 10g is my original tank, about 6 years old now. It was a betta tank first for my koi gal Molotov- she lived for two great years before passing. When I tried to replace her, I went through two new bettas which each died quickly. I found that really hard to take. I wanted something different and more anonymous than a single special fishie, and switched to cherry shrimp. It's been up and down for the last four years. My population has gotten as large as maybe 30 - 40 shrimp and as low as 2 - 3. I've almost given up multiple times and then I would spot a berried female or new babies and decide to keep going.
I've definitely been frustrated lately with the shrimp tank. It's just never going "great". I tried adding dwarf crayfish to change things up, but the longest I got one to live is a month. Which was really depressing. I've considered going back to fish in this tank - currently considering nano fish that would hopefully coexist with the shrimp. I dunno. Of course I tested the water today and the kh is 6 but the gh is 30 o_O maybe that's the issue lol

A few months ago I took two juvenile shrimp out of my 10 gallon shrimp tank and put them in the 20 gallon community - kind of am experiment.
It ended up being a male /female pair that have grown really well.
The female has been berried two or three times but I have yet to see any shrimplets. Unsure if they are just not surviving, being eaten, or still too tiny to be out and about.

Sad news today. When I came home from work I found my little dwarf crayfish Tangerine had passed away. She was alive and eating just twenty-four hours ago. Im pretty bummed, I had only gotten her in early August. It seemed like she had tried to molt but didn't make it.
Goodbye small friend :(
