Proxy Headcannons

–The Proxies Overall–

Their working with the Operator has allowed for all three to gain enhancements of their normal abilities. 

All of them are stronger than average and faster than average

They can regenerate so long as they are close enough in proximity to the Operator.

They have better hearing than most normal humans.

They are ranked above pastas. The system is a hierarchy so very few proxies actually exist under the Operators rule, but many pastas exist.

This man is massive. He stands at the towering height of 6’6” and weighs around 220 lbs. This man could crush your head like a watermelon between his thighs if he really wanted to. 

Out of the three proxies, he probably has the best relationship with the operator. This isn't because he has a good relationship with it, but because he is the one who fights his control the least. 

“Hoodie” is just a persona of sorts that Brian puts on when he works. He does this as a way to cope with the reality of how his life has changed since he started working for the eldritch being. 

For him it’s like acting. He steps foot into a character and steps out as soon as the job is over and his mask is off

He only wears his mask and hoodie when he’s working as well, this feeds into his dramatization of his work.

This isn't to say that Brian is still his same bubbly self as he was in college. This life has still hardened him. He has become a paranoid, harsh, shell of himself.

Brian tends to be the most manipulative out of the three. He can play Mr. Charming and gain the trust of others easily. He will use whoever he can to get whatever he wants.

He’s very good at reading people. He tends to be a rather social butterfly and makes friends much easier than Tim and Toby. 

He definitely blames himself for dragging both Tim and Jay into this life. 

His favorite weather is when there’s lots of thunderstorms and heavy rain. It tends to help him sleep better at night.

His favorite genre of music is probably old country. Think Johnny Cash and George Jones. He despises most new country though. If he’s not listening to that then he’s probably listening to 90’s grunge. 

He prefers to use CDs and cassette tapes rather than phones or computers. He just enjoys the aesthetic of it a lot.

His favorite game is Mario kart, specifically on the Wii.

His favorite food is biscuits and gravy. He’s a southern boy so it’s a comforting, cheap meal that he can make rather easily.

Probably the best cook in the house when he does cook. He doesn’t do it very often because of lack of supplies however.

Chronic smoker. Like a pack-a-day kind of guy. It’s the first thing he does in the morning.

Funnily enough he still brushes his teeth after every cigarette if he can. If not, he’s chewing on a stick of gum right after.

Big man as well, but definitely shorter than Brian. He stands at around 6’0” even and weighs near 210 lbs as well. Think of your typical strong-man build

He’s the shortest of the proxies, but he makes up for it in brute strength. This man is like a fucking tank, he can and will run someone down if he gets the chance.

He probably fights the operator the most when it comes to allowing it to fully take over. He’ll do his job as asked so long as it allows him to stay in control of his body.

He definitely has the shortest temper. Ever since he was forced into this life Tim’s limits have been pushed and he tends to lash out on whoever he can in the moment.

He also tends to be rather insensitive even to his work partners' needs or emotions. In his mind, this world is do or die, there’s no room for thoughts and feelings about how these things work.

Tim enjoys alternative music, more on the softer early 2000’s rock side, but he’s also grown rather fond of Brian’s country music as well. His favorite band is probably three days grace or breaking benjamin

He tends to hum little songs through the day when he’s off duty, often when he’s doing mundane tasks like chores and whatnot to fill the silence. Sometimes, if he can get his hand on one, he’ll still practice the guitar on days off.

Very very private man. He doesn’t like talking about his past, his problems, his life, his anything. He’s got walls around him stronger than steel and very few people are allowed in.

For a while he held a lot of resentment towards Brian but he had since gotten through it. Sometimes when they fight however he does bring up their past in fits of anger. He never really means what he says though.

Is by far one of the most loyal men you will ever meet in your life. No matter how many fights with Brian and Toby he has he will remain by their side and stick up for them in any circumstance. He does not take kindly to anyone shittalking his teammates.

An early bird. Tim enjoys having the mornings to himself so he can sit outside and sip on a cup of coffee. Because of this, he tends to be in bed by 10 pm at the latest to make sure he gets enough sleep.

His favorite time of the year is spring. He doesn’t like when it’s too hot or too cold outside. Surprisingly, he does like to look at flowers as they remind him of his mom and his life before all this.

—Toby Rogers—

Toby is the second tallest within the group, standing at the height of 6’2”. He weighs about 155-160 lbs. He absolutely loves to pick on Tim because of their height difference.

Tends to be the most hostile to new people due to his lack of social skills. He’s rather untrusting and wary, especially of older men.

Is rather indifferent about his facial scarring. Really the only reasons he will cover up with a mask or bandage is if they’re out in town and they need to be inconspicuous.

Despite him being on the leaner side Toby does have this abnormal strength about him. Definitely has a sleeper build. When out in public he tends to wear more loose clothing that hides his physique but at home it's all tank tops and muscle shirts for training. 

Has a lot of sensory issues. He hates to be in loud or crowded places for long periods of time. He’s learned to get over it with time, but being at home in his room is definitely his preferred place. 

He cannot stand the texture of some clothes. If it doesn't feel right then he literally will not wear it. Same goes for certain blankets or sheets even.

He spends a lot of his free time either reading or drawing. Toby has a rather overactive imagination so he really immerses himself into his fantasy worlds that he creates

Toby by far has the most difficult relationship with the operator. This isn’t because he fights like Tim does, but simply because it takes the worst toll on his body and mind. Because of the lapses in memory and overworking of his body Toby ends up hurt or drained for days, sometimes even weeks after missions.

He definitely is the most okay with the work they do. He doesn't really feel any guilt or other emotions when it comes to his victims. To him they don’t really exist outside of this little vacuum of work. He barely even recognizes them as human.

Toby definitely is the clingiest out of the boys as well. He has his few select people that he enjoys being around and he tends to linger around them when possible. He’s not one for much physical touch with friends however, he just needs to be able to see them.

His favorite genre of music is probably metalcore/electronic metal. He really enjoys Bring Me the Horizon, Linkin Park, and Motionless in White. He however will listen to just about anything and has the most diverse playlists in the house.

His favorite season/weather is Winter. Toby loves the snow and how crisp and soft it is. He could spend hours outside when it snows. 

Toby is actually the usual cook in the home. Despite his usual depiction, he has a rather steady hand especially when he’s concentrating on something. His tics tend to be more verbal anyways than physical.

This man is scarily fast. Genuinely if he had gone to high school he would likely have been a track star. He can run a mile in just under six minutes. If a victim does manage to escape from his teammates, he's on their asses faster than they can blink half the time. 

Toby has very few memories of his life before the operator. He knows faintly of his family and their names but he cannot remember faces or voices. Trying to make him remember anything further often leads to rather bad episodes for him, so Tim and Brian do their best not to bring up his past or ask too many questions about it.

How is music a time capsule?

this explains why I started this blog, with examples from one of my favorite eras of music --- the early 90s.

ever wondered why music is often classified by decades?

According to the Oxford Dictionary, a time capsule is a container storing a selection of objects chosen as being typical of the present time, buried for discovery in the future. The manner in which eras of music are often recognized by the decades they were released in acts very similarly to the concept of a time capsule.

Usually, the music during that decade gives listeners a feel for the typical culture of that time---even if it isn't necessarily the popular music of that decade. This is why subcultures and genres exist---to clarify the differences between music and cultures, rather than classifying them simply by their popularity. When you think of music from the early 2010s, you also begin to think of what was typical during that time--the "swag era," fake glasses, sagging pants, neon colors, skinny jeans, silly band bracelets, etc.

An example of how all types of music, (not just what is mainstream) can define an era is the early 1990s, when the hype behind traditional pop (boybands) and r&b sort of began to fizzle out, as the gangster-rap and grunge rock subcultures began to dominate people's music preferences. Neither of these genres were considered pop, perhaps until they became popular. Personally, I am a big fan of these genres, and I am a boyband fanatic. I have heard several popular boyband members like Brian Littrell of Backstreet Boys and Chris Kirkpatrick of Nsync discuss how difficult it was to break through after the growth & popularization of other typically non-mainstream genres such as hip-hop acts (NWA, Snoop Dogg, Tupac, Public Enemy) and grunge rock acts (Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Korn.). Some acts even blended the two like Rage Against the Machine.

Young listeners, who always make up the majority of music listeners whether its radio, CDs, or now: streaming, were preferring a more "bad boy"/ radical/loner image than the bubble-gum pop sound. It's as if all the kids born in the 70s that revolutionized how music was listened to finally grew up and preferred a more "fight the power"/revolutionary take on music and culture.

I'd cite the rising political tensions, police brutality, and overall public consciousness of the government's capitalism & conspicuous involvement in the personal lives of the late 80s and early 90s as a reason for this shift in mainstream music. Many middle-class teenagers & people in their twenties born around the same time of Nirvana's lead Kurt Cobain had began to label the "80s" culture & music as fake-happy and manufactured, so--- they took a "realer" approach to music, they yelled, screamed, and rapped about whatever political, mental, and ultimately social issues that they had.

See how much can be conveyed from music? The political climate in an era can be conveyed from a Public Enemy song alone. Rage Against the Machine as well. While art can always be left up to the consumer's interpretation, it's always important to make yourself aware of the creator's purpose. Think of it as how you'd have to analyze the author's purpose of books in your grade school language arts class.

So--- I'm sure when an avid listener of Public Enemy, Rage Against the Machine, or Nirvana at the time of their debuts hears one of these songs, memories of the world during the time of the song releases pop into the mind.

Although, I wasn't there for the debuts or popular releases in real time (because I wasn't born yet 😹) I am always reminded of where I was and how I felt when I first discovered music from an era that I did not experience.

Nova was born in Asbury Park, NJ. Her mother a teacher, whilst her father was a tattoo artist. Due to their jobs, they were rarely around and that left Nova to her grandmother until one or both of her parents were off of work.Being an only child led Nova to be plagued by boredom. It was because of this, that she fell into the wrong kind of friend group (as per what parents would say). It only became easier for Nova to sneak onto the train to NYC in order to meet up with these friends, once she was old enough that she did not need her grandmother’s supervision. This time in her life was surrounded by hard drugs, crashing college parties, and bar-hopping whilst under-age but with legal-aged friends. Though most would see this as a ‘dark’ or ‘rough’ time of their life, she claims it was pivotal to understanding just how independent and creative she actually was. Nova’s ‘mentor/mom’ friend was the one who taught her art that was far more advanced and freeing than just doodling in the margins of her notebooks. It was during her impromptu escapes to NYC on the weekends that she found herself in an actual art studio or in this friend’s shitty NYC apartment just honing in and developing her own craft. It was also at this time, during her middle school and high school careers, where the friend’s boyfriend taught her how to play guitar and the piano during Nova’s visits. These two friends were more-so parental figures to Nova, and she credits them to being the beacon of her support system when she was figuring out who she genuinely was outside of her birth parents’ pressures/ideals.When the time came to go to college, Nova lied to her parents about going for law and instead went for fine art with a minor in music. When she was in her third year of college (age of 20), the two friends who doubled as parental figures to her died of OD. Instead of dropping out of school due to the traumatic impact, her professors influenced her into sticking it out for one more year until she obtained her degree.During her fourth year of college (age 21), was when she found herself going viral online. It all started with the senior project: she had to make a song. Nova utilized the loss of her two friends and their story, mixing her writing with the sound of grunge and punk-rock. It was an ode to her friends, seeing that Nirvana and The Sex Pistols would be blaring whenever she was visiting them. Little did she know that when she posted it to her Tumblr and sent the link to her professor, that the song would blow up overnight - that SHE would blow up overnight.It was an instance of timing and being what society needed, though she wasn’t sure if fame was really what she wanted. She wound up releasing the discarded songs that she didn’t choose for the final project and created an EP due to the listeners’ requests, which landed her on the radio without a label. It was at this time that her parents found out the truth about her studies and cut off communication once she fought back about not changing paths (she still doesn’t talk to them to this day). The lack of support stung, and seeing a label as a support system (a ‘forced family’) she eagerly signed on without a second thought.The label was trying to force a more bubble-gum synthetic pop on her, which she fought tooth and nail over as well as led her into a PR relationship that she came out of with battle scars. Another label bought her out of her contract, and since then she found a safe place to grow and re-discover herself time and time again with limitless support. Currently, Nova found herself settling in Asbury Park. She finds the environment very other-worldly and she’s comfortable being herself here - it’s one of the only places, other than being onstage, that makes her feel ‘at home.’

Nova is bubbly, but withdrawn. She’s loyal, but it takes her awhile to trust someone enough to become loyal to them. Her image is all over the place because she struggles in finding her true identity; It’s why she hates labels of any kind, but she’s becoming more accepting of herself as time goes on. She’s anti-societal norms and tends to feel for the underdogs, though her empathy is a mess. She is passionate about her beliefs and values, and her passion can be negative in the ways of her becoming argumentative and combative. She feels too much, way too quickly. This causes a sense of her leading people on, or even paints her to be a flakey friend when that’s not the case; She sometimes just shuts down and needs her space to further process and try to make sense of her own emotions at times. But this empathy also helps her read others and she’s a good therapist type of friend because of it. She’s all about individuality and is super supportive to others, sometimes unbearingly so because of her past of lack of having a support system. She has no luck in love, which is something she’s accepted more so over the past couple years. She’s always the one who puts in the most effort; Always the one who loves the other more than they love her. And if it is a good match, she winds up ruining it for herself. It’s very Kurt Cobain of her, but she genuinely does self-destruct for the amusement of others and as a way of self-harm though she will never admit it to herself. Her self-destruction can also come across as her being free-spirited and adventurous in the ways of impulse - which makes for great nights and morning stories. Lately she’s been struggling with not quitting music because she feels like the music only sells when she’s writing songs that are about her struggles, which makes her feel as though people only value her when she’s hurting. The only thing that’s keeping her in the business is her fandom, but that’s sort of on the back-burner. She’s all for free love and hookups. Very “normalize kissing the homies” type of person, and shows affection freely.
