*both you and Bubble Crab were really excited about this date

*while he sees marine animals and such all the time, it’s always nice to see your excitement for them

*and spending time with you in general

*you’ll sometimes ask him questions to hear what he has to say, depending on what kind of marine animal it is

*though if it’s one he really likes, he’ll talk about it a lot, give you some fun facts!

*and when he realizes that he’s been rambling, he stops and goes quiet, now flustered

*you think it’s cute, and you will tell him so, making him even more flustered

long-story short, Sun doesn’t believe he has emotions since he is a robot 😔

of course, he sees Moon and Eclipse emote all the time. he usually attributes it to Moon being a fool (believing he is something he's not) and Eclipse being manipulative (given that he was originally built for the theater)

but there is a part of him that wonders if he is missing something—he just doesn’t understand what that is

Note: i should also mention, his voice is almost completely monotone. the closet idea of a voice claim for this Sun is Greg Chun's voice for Lukas from Fire Emblem Echoes—fairly even in tone, somewhat soft

okay so now that it's actually crab day i just realized another thing that bothers me about it. it is still disability pride month. you're telling me. that we're throwing a Tumblr Fundraiser Holiday. in the midst of countless real disabled ppl trying to speak up about tumblr's unwillingness to fix massive issues like regularly letting dangerous, seizure inducing content get blazed and then suggesting that photosensitive users pay to make it stop instead of fixing the problem. during the month specifically about celebrating and listening to disabled people???

Hey—are you an oxygen-depleted countercurrent gas exchange? Cause you take my breath away 🦀💨

Crabs have an internal set of gills to breathe, just like fish—although they work a little differently. Fish have an opening behind the gills, so water can be drawn in through the mouth, flow over the gills and exit through an external gill flap. Crabs draw water in through small openings near their legs, where it flows over their gills and out through openings by their mouth.

But shoretainly you’ve sea-n a crab, like this little striped shore crab friend, wandering around on dry land? Crab gills can still function out of water so long as they are damp (similar to how amphibians’ skin must remain moist to breathe even though they have lungs). Oxygen from the atmosphere diffuses into the water on their gills, and then into their open-circulatory blood system thanks to a fancy process called countercurrent exchange. Scientists think that by blowing bubbles while out-of-water, crabs increase their breathable surface area until they can find some water to scuttle back into. Adorable AND functional fashion!
