3. A character fandom helped you appreciate

There's been a few, Xander in BTVS who is written so much better in fanon than canon. Spander became my OTP for Buffy because of how well he's written.

Lots of wrestlers. Reading fic has enabled me to look at wrestlers with new eyes. Kink 101 reformulated how I look at Kyle, Bobby and Cole. I wouldn't know about many many wrestlers without fandom on here waving them at me. Some of the brilliant posts on here have enabled me to know back stories and lore without needing to go off into a world that can feel a bit overwhelming

21. a fandom you're not active in anymore but that you still really like

Probably Torchwood. My first "proper" fandom, where I actually went to cons and met people and made friends (waves at @absdax, @galadriel1010 and @hd-hale). I may not be as feral for Torchwood now, but it will always be a safe space and a home.

25. a piece of advice for taking care of yourself in fandom spaces

Remember that the telly box is a one way viewing device. The block button is your friend. You do not have to entertain shitty opinions about your fave. Be nice to people. You do not have to do all the things. If it makes you happy, fuck what people think.

BTVS ships episode count review

I was thinking about Buffy's 3 main ships (to me): Bangel v. Spuffy v. Fuffy. I was wondering how many episodes (BTVS or ATS) where each ship has scenes together. Then inspired by these two polls I decided to add in two other non-Buffy ships: Gethan and Spangel.

Kudos to the Fuffy and Gethan shippers, who are working with not a TON of episodes with scenes together. Especially Gethan shippers, who only have 4 canon episodes! To be fair, Spangel fans only had 13 until S5 of ATS.

Summary ship episode count: Spuffy (Spike x Buffy): 71 Bangel (Buffy x Angel): 49 Spangel (Spike x Angel): 35 Fuffy (Faith x Buffy): 21 Gethan (Giles x Ethan): 4

Any blatant negative ship comments, like calling a specific ship indecent will get you blocked. Ship and let ship. Other comments welcome.

What's the Universe? The TV Buffyverse. (BTVS TV or ATS TV eps, the comics and books don’t count.)

How to start? I started with the pre-count. The pre-count is episodes where both characters in the ship appeared.

Spuffy pre-count: 96 (inc. 0 on ATS) Bangel pre-count: 56 (inc. 2 on ATS) Spangel pre-count: 42 (inc. 22 on ATS) Fuffy pre-count: 21 (inc. 1 on ATS) Gethan pre-count: 4 (inc. 0 on ATS)

How to verify? I did not rewatch all the episodes! I rewatched a few, after checking transcripts, recaps, and ship gif pages.

What doesn't count? Someone talking about the other person, because I am not trying to include the various episodes where Faith is haunting the show. They must appear in a scene together for it to count. They must both be fully aware of each other. Shared dreams (like the Fuffy ones) do count, but regular dreams do not. Buffy Bot, Wishverse Buffy, and FirstEvil Buffy do not count. I treated Faith and Buffy as their "mental" selves during the two body swap episode scenes. Right now, only Star Trek; while my focus tends to be on TOS, AOS, and SNW, I'm open to writing for other trek series and will when the inspiration strikes! Previously, I've written a fair amount for MST3K and Anne with an E.

5) Do you respond to comments?

Not always and I do feel bad about that. I try my best when the comment is especially sweet or lengthy, but I've got about 10 unread comments in my inbox right now that I haven't replied to because too much time has passed and it feels like it's too late

6) What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

with trembling hands, my SNW Spock/Pike fic that has a sad ending. Super happy with how angsty that fic ends tbh I really wanted to write a fic for Spock/Pike that tackled how Pike would end their relationship as the radiation stuff was quickly approaching

7) What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I've posted so many fluffy oneshots that it's kinda hard to choose. An Endless Stream of Tomorrows is definitely high on that list

8) Do you get hate on fics?

Not really. The closest I get in the trek fandom are comments correcting me on some lore in my fics. Which, sure, is sometimes nice and useful, but sometimes I don't really need a "um, actually--" on a 1000 word fluff fic

9) Do you write smut?

Yes, and I'm finally at the point where I really 1) enjoy writing smut and 2) think I'm getting good at it

10) Do you write crossovers?

I have one, and I so RARELY get to talk about it because it was written for me and like two friends. Night Shift is my crossover fic: it's Spike from BTVS X Gambit from X-Men (and apparently it has 21 kudos??? who are you people reading this crack ship???). Anyway, Gambit and Spike hook up and through a series of misunderstandings, they end up on a roadtrip/fleeing a murder scene together. Spike thinks Gambit is a demon, and Gambit has no idea Spike is a vampire. I'm realizing I haven't reread this fic since I posted it, which is WILD because this is such a self-indulgent fic, so I'm going to go read that now

11) Have you ever had a fic stolen?

12) Have you ever had a fic translated?

Nope, but people are free to do so! Just credit the original work :)

13) Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Yep! Between You and Me (AWAE) was such an interesting project to work on! There was a group of about 13 of us, and we all had a week to read the previous chapter and write our own chapters to continue the story. I'd love to do something like that again

14) What's your all-time favorite ship?

Spike/Buffy, but funnily enough, I don't have a strong drive to read fic for them. I'm satisfied with how the show handles their relationship arc and haven't really had to resort to reading fic because of that

15) What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you will?

I don't post wips that I don't intend to finish. I've got a few wips in my docs that may never be finished of course, but on AO3 my only wip rn is Place Your Hand In Mine, my AOS academy-era mckirk fic, and I fully intend to finish that one; other fics (trektober, zines fics, etc) just got in the way

16) What are your writing strengths?

Dialogue and smut

Still trying to be a more concise writer; I'd love to be able to say more with less words

18) Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language?

I haven't taken a language course in 5+ years. I think if I had to I could write some simple French dialogue, but not without doing a lot of studying to make sure I was saying what I meant

19) First fandom you wrote for?

On AO3, X-Men. IRL? when I was 12 the only person I knew who wrote fic was writing Youtuber fanfic, so I tried that out for a short stint before immediately shifting to Doctor Who

20) Favorite fic you've ever written?

what remains unsaid. I don't think it's my best fic, but it does hit all the beats for what I often look for in fic, so it's doing everything that I want in a story. What really draws me to some of the TOS Movies is how they deal with themes of parenthood and Jim never really fitting into the role of father and being very aware that he doesn't fit that role. I just really love that he's shown as having faults, like yeah, he wasn't a father to David and he knows that. This fic is in a 5+1 Things format exploring Jim's relationship (or lack of) to David. It's not a ship fic; it was just a chance for me to explore those themes and really dive into Jim's head.

1) What’s the maximum amount of time your character can sit still with nothing to do?

Most of the time not very long. Bishop likes keeping herself busy rather than being left alone with her thoughts, but she also likes going for a long walk in the park occasionally

11) How do they cope with confusion (seek clarification, pretend they understand, etc)?

Depends on who she's talking to. if it's someone she's familiar with like norman then she has no problems asking for clarification but with most people she pretends she understands and looks thoughtful and contemplative. she's concerned about looking stupid or ignorant.

21) Why do they get up in the morning? 

Generally she likes her job at the university and likes being in academia. After norman is killed she has to carry on with the rest of her normal stuff but her revenge plot is always there in the back of her mind. after that she doesn't feel like she has much of a reason to get up at all.

B) What inspired you to create them?

On my first drawing of her I wrote "like giles from btvs but a lesbian" and well. the biggest inspiration aesthetically came from watching btvs with my friend and thinking "man giles would be even more epic if he was the exact same but a woman" and so I decided to create draft up a character design inspired by that sort of archetype. I originally didnt have any plans for her beyond that but everyone loved her so much that I had to flesh her out more, so she's evolved to be very different from giles in terms of personality and narrative. the biggest influence on her narrative is mainly walter white's infamous downward spiral from unassuming academic to ruthless crimelord but again if he was a lesbian.

27) What causes them to feel dread? 

A lot of things but mostly the prospect that she will never truly be happy or that anyone will care about her and that the rest of her life will be miserable

29) Do they usually live up to their own ideals? 40) How sensitive are they to their own flaws?

Answering these as one cause they're pretty similar. No, Prudence does not live up to her ideals and is very sensitive about it. If you asked her what her ideal self would be, she would say she wants to be beautiful, powerful, desirable, respected. but for whatever reason she feels like this is unachievable, and that's not her own fault but the world's. She's driven by that sense of inferiority and a desire to make #SOCIETY pay

B) What inspired you to create them?

I've actually talked about this a few times before, but back in high school I was initially inspired to create visuals for one of my favorite songs at the time, love and truth by mother mother (I was really into making animatics at the time lol). so she started out as just a character for a little music video but now shes my little thang <3
