where do i even start with this song...

Blind is a track off of Ateez's 2024 EP "GOLDEN HOUR : Part.1"

it's probably one of my favorite songs of all time. it has an addicting beat, lyrics that are fun to sing to, and makes me feel like i'm at a cookout or a club or even a bachlorette party even in the comfort of my pajamas at home.

it's also quite difficult for a non-musician like me to describe but it's got everything--drums, horns, an accordian? i think? and sampled sounds in the back (the sound in the intro is the same sample as seen in super by seventeen)

it's like if you went to go see a mariachi band at a rave, this is what would happen

of course the lyrics match up to the latin influence, including the overarching line "el amor es ciego" ("love is blind").

ateez lyrics are generally mystifying for me to try and understand, as either some combination of whack lyrics or whack translation render it impossible for me to understand.

to the best of my understanding Blind seems to be about meeting someone and dancing (or f***ing) the night away, with their dance moves (bed moves?) blinding ateez to any possible red flags, and even if anything does seem amiss ("devil or angel in just one smile") it doesn't matter because they can "take my soul/take my heart" because...love is blind.

and the bridge/outro...oh my god the bridge/outro. how does one even begin to describe what i could only describe as the best final forty seconds of music in recent memory? it just may well be the bridge that is the most fun to sing and dance to.

when i heard this song for the first time i just about passed out from excitement, then proceeded to play this song another ten times in a row, only to play it about fifty times more in the next two days. it was my most replayed song of 2024 according to spotify wrapped.

despite knowing exactly zero korean words i've managed to memorize much of the lyrics because this is the kind of song you want to scream as you drive 80 mph on the highway. it's like the auditory equivalent of watching noah lyles cinch gold in the 100m dash by 0.005 seconds, or the auditory equivalent of participating in those red bull stunt tricks.

that's the kind of excitement that this song generates. it gives you an adrenaline rush just listening through headphones. i could only imagine what this would do to me physically if i had the chance to see it live.

the lack of a music video or performance video is truly devastating but i'll live. maybe. KQ ENTERTAINMENT GIVE US AN MV I BEG.

basically, if you're like me and you like you latin music, this is for you. i don't have great specific recommendations but it hits the same way that pitbull and daddy yankee do (a la "Hot" or "Gasolina" or "Rompe").

actually thinking about it, Blind could really be Hot's little primo.

you really can't go wrong listening to ateez, and especially not with this song. if ateez released a full latin album i'd be first in line to buy all the copies.

Being Army Can Be Exhausting

Some Army are going to hate me for this but at this point I don’t care.

First off, I really don’t expect anyone to read this and that’s fine because I expect it.

There seem to be some very blatant rules in being Army that I feel either get misconstrued or are enfrorced with iron fist and if not followed….well are you even Army? I’ve been Army for years but sometimes we can be toxic as all get out.

This of course doesn’t apply to all Army. Get it? Got it? Good. If you’re sensitive, leave. I’m not debating or arguing with anybody.

Now, I’ve made a few notes, walk with me here:

BTS Only!

Yeah, no. I’ve been a K-pop fan for 14 years now and I’ve seen this sentiment come and go. Guess what? It never sticks. While I love BTS, they aren’t the only group to ever exist. It may feel that way to a lot of Army, it’s simply not true. You liking other groups doesn’t make me or you any less Army. Sorry not sorry.

And while I’ve only ever loved two other groups as much as BTS (honestly I don’t see that changing), I’m not cutting off an industry because of some bs If Multi Not Army rule reinforced by some.

Being a Multi is not some grand betrayal to BTS.

Buy Everything, We Must Support!

I simply can’t express how much I disagree with this! You know how many people can’t “afford” to be Army if that’s the case?

This shit is expensive lol. It’s not for the faint of heart. While I’m fortunate to be able to fund my support for them, I very much recognize that it’s not the case for everyone. BigHit drops merchandise almost on the daily! Between BTS, solo endeavors, TinyTan and BT21 our money is vanishing out of our wallets monthly.

Now have I spent a good amount of money on BTS merchandise? Yep! Official and unofficial, I sure have. Even spent a good amount of money on both my BTS tatts. Is what it is. But again, that’s a privilege I recognize. Some Army can only show their support through YouTube streams. Why? They’re free. And I’m sure BTS appreciates them all the same.

The pressure to keep up with other Army financially is enormous and even if you don’t subscribe to that way of thinking, you’ve surely seen it.

“I bought Gucci/LV/Dior because now that BTS are brand ambassadors I have to show my support!”

Good on them but good God. Next thing you know, you’ve spent thousands of dollars trying to keep up and living on ramen packets but it’s okay because…I dunno…Army? No! Get a white T-shirt, a permanent marker, write BTS across the front and call it a day. Again, you’re just as much Army as anyone else.

They’re a Solo! Stone Them!

This is my biggest gripe with this fandom.

They’re a solo, so what? It doesn’t automatically mean that they hate the rest of the group. I know, I’m cool with a few of them. Not all Solos are created equal. You people have turned them on par with Satan and it’s nowhere near that serious.

Sometimes, you gel with one member and one member only. Sorry people, that’s just true for some. Nothing against the other members at all.

And yes yes, they are some extremely problematic solos out there. Not negating that. I specifically talking about the ones that aren’t.

Have I personally been called a solo? No but that’s because I rarely express my views on anything BTS because you will be attacked for it if it’s not the most positive glowing view.

Also the things I’ve seen on X, Instagram, TikTok and here have shown me some of the idiotic reasons people are labled solos. These are the reasons I see the most on my side of these platforms:

“You only post one of two members”

It’s called having biases, have we forgotten about that?

“You only buy music from one member!”

My wallet, my prerogative. I love the group’s music but not all them seperatley. Oooo I said it!

Solo music wise I regularly listen to Joonie, Jimin, Yoongi and Jungkook’s music. I don’t necessarily vibe with Hobi, Tae and Jin’s music. I don’t dislike their music, it’s just not for me. But I do buy the albums in show of support.

“You only watch content with certain members and not others!!”

This goes back to my initial point, sometimes you gel with certain members more than others. I gravitate, like we all do, to certain personalities. It’s just that simple.

There’s also burnout. I can’t watch everything because I do sometimes get sick of them! Love them to Jin’s moon and back but sometimes, I need a break. Get over it!

Like a Girl is the seventh mini album of the fictional South Korean girl group, GIRL TALK, released on November 16, 2023, through Delphi Entertainment and XG Labels. The comeback was announced on October 20th, giving fans and the public a few weeks to prepare. After it was announced, Yuuri went live with the title “AND THE GIRLS ARE BACK!” where she would spoil Nobody Knows, giving fans the first taste of their newest album. Soojin came in a moment after and took her phone away like she was a child, ending the live with a swift but sweet goodbye.

Now that fans knew that the album would involve a mature concept, boy, were they excited. Of course, they love all concepts by the girls but there’s always something about their mature concepts. Of course, non fans were excited, too.

Minji helped write Get It with Cho Yoonkyung, Holly helped Yoonkyung with Nobody Knows. Minji completely wrote ICU and all the girls wrote 21:29.

The music video would get 70.4 million streams and 5.3 million likes within 24 hours. Therefore beating their previous record of 79.8 million with Devil.

Get It debuted high on the charts, #1 on Bugs, #5 on MelOn, #7 on Genie, and #50 on Flo. It was #19 on Billboard 200. Nobody Knows also debuted #4 on Bugs, #6 on MelOn, and #90 on Flo. The girls tweeted a ten second video of them just screaming. No talking, no pausing, just screaming and then it ends. They followed up with another video, thanking the fans and everyone who listened to them.

Minji said ICU was to a close friend of hers, letting them know she’s always there for them, even oceans apart. She didn’t say which friend, but from the girls’ reactions, it’s safe to assume it’s about someone else.

The girls wrote 21:29 for the fans, one of the many. It was a tearjerker, Holly tears up when they first performed it live at an in person fansign.

Get It and Nobody Knows were promoted for six weeks from November 17th to December 17. Their first out of nine win for Get It was two days later on Inkigayo. They had two additional wins for Nobody Knows— which one of them they won against Get It.

As usual, the girls were active on social media. They especially posted a lot on TikTok, posting videos nearly every day and when they skipped one, Blossoms jokingly wondered if the girls were kidnapped or dead. They replied to fans on social media and had one or two lives each week.

They went on variety shows such as Knowing Bros and Minji and Mei guest starred in Running Man. Yuri joked on Knowing Bros that she wished We Got Married was still airing, she wanted to be on it. You can imagine netizens’ reactions. They also went on Jimmy Kimmel and performed.

Throughout the era, they released all three versions of Get It’s dance practices. They also released their MMA and GDA performance dance practices. On December 25, they released a special dance practice video where they wore similar outfits to the Mean Girls’ Santa dresses. Soojin and Mei got the cutest outfits and solo stans were pissed.

Most of the girls stayed their natural dark hair color, while Yuri was blonde and Minji dyed her hair blonde halfway through the era, saying that the blonde hair in her photocard was a wig.

Oh, this was Minji and Holly’s eras. They just shined really brightly in this one, going viral almost every other day for a fancam or something they did or said.

People gave Minji such backhanded compliments for her lyrics and voice while somehow degrading her to a ‘dumb blonde’. Holly went viral for her Nobody Knows fancam, people stating it was her choreo like she just does it like it was made for her.

As usual, Yuuri went viral for all the wrong things. People took her words a bit too seriously like her We Got Married comment, and her saying their comeback was the best comeback the entire year. Stupid things like that.

Antis didn’t have one thing to complain about Mei this era for, but you know— they still did.

It’s not a GIRL TALK comeback if there’s not at least one dating rumor. This era’s victim was Soojin, what a surprise.

All of the girls went viral for Nobody Knows, multiple fancams of theirs for the song had more than two million views. This brought more attention to them, both bad and good.

Some people thought it was somehow too raunchy …? As Holly said, “They don’t like people showing their ass, I guess.”

Twitter was in hell for Blossoms. Like it was a constant war every day. They had to defend the girls from so many other fandoms, who called them sluts or untalented, etc. You know the works.

They attended Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade in New York and all stops of the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball tour, meeting a few celebrities such as Sabrina Carpenter, Olivis Rodrigo, Doechii, Melanie Martinez, SZA, and more.

GIRL TALK went to AAA, MMA, SMA, GDA, and CCMA. They went home with at least one award every show.

They released their documentary film The Girls Talk on November 30 in select theaters. The girls shed light on past incidents, reminisce together, and even visit their families in the film as a way to go back to their roots after finding stardom. It will be released on YouTube Premium on February 24, 2024.

On midnight January 1st, the girls dropped a music video for 21:29, a thank you gift to them, concluding the Get It era.

How To Single-Handedly Launch People Into The C-Pop Stratosphere

psycho, a 2023 single, was jun's (of kpop boygroup seventeen) solo debut, and boy did he deliver. first off, i love that he did the singing in mandarin instead of korean. it's not immediately obvious, (and this may have actually been due to the nature of his song vs svt songs as opposed to simply being in mandarin vs korean) but his voice was way deeper and more gravelly than it usually is, and i fall apart at the mere mention of deep voices.

i think his voice is generally deeper in mandarin than in korean, but i don't watch enough seventeen content to know that for a fact.

also, i felt like the mandarin really leant itself to the vibe of the song, as the way that words flow in mandarin has a different vibe to it than the way that korean words flow together. it would've been a different song in korean, and i'm glad it was in mandarin.

the grammar structure of mandarin and korean are different, which led to also some great emphasis on some of the lyrics that would've been lost had they done it in korean. i don't have great specific examples because i don't know korean and my mandarin is basic at best but trust i've heard enough of both languages to make these distinctions.

like questions words (who, how, etc) happen at the end of a sentence in korean, but in mandarin they can happen closer towards the beginning so when jun in the outro puts emphasis on the "shei" (who) in "who's the weirdo in someone else's eyes?" it happens at the beginning, which flows. if that emphasis had been at the end of the lyric it would not have flowed that nicely, imo.

that was a long sidebar, but genuinely because of the way that this song sounded in comparison to how songs in korean sound, i got way more interested in cpop and songs sung in mandarin, which led to a low-level wayv obsession since they were the most easily accessible cpop i could find and then led to a desperate wish for more chinese singers to put songs on spotify with at least translated titles so i can have an easier time finding more of them. there's only so much my youtube recommended can do.

cpop also has a slightly different vibe to kpop and other pop genres. there's generally more intensity of grandeur in the lyrics and vocal tone, and i'd say that traditional chinese instruments feature more heavily in cpop than traditional korean instruments feature in kpop, although i've seen a decent amount of traditional instruments in both genres.

back to psycho, the lyrics talk a lot about being considered a weirdo by society and about being forced to embrace that kind of identity ("don't think it's surprising, both you and I exist as freaks/don't fool yourself into thinking you're an exception" as well as "don't fool yourself anymore, psycho")

jun uses such intense inflection in his singing that i would almost call it voice acting. he's acting a character of someone disillusioned by society and the vocal tone reflects that--it's a bit dead inside, with a humorous lilt to it like a movie villain that knows he's about to win. very joker-about-to-kill-robin vibes. there are moments where his tone is low and hypnotizing, and moments where he's full of anger and his voice becomes raspier. it's addicting to listen to.

the dance is also excellent. even if you only looked at his face the whole time it would've been it's own performance. the dance frequently calls for jun draw attention to different facial features like having him hook his fingers to pull the sides of his mouth to look joker-ish or to have his hand cover his face so you focus on his eyes, which have no light to them throughout the performance. he also has this excellent sadistic smile used in only the correct moments throughout his performance.

the dance also has a lot of moments where he's contorting his body to either stretch out fully or to shrink in, and the dichotomy of these movements, especially when they're done right after each other, serve to throw you off and unsettle you. this is especially visible when they are used in sequence with other distorting movements, like with the hand twisting move in the chorus or the jerky head rotation right before the second verse. there's never a comfortable moment visually and that discomfort serves the song extremely well

but the highlight of this song to me is the backtrack. featuring the lowest octaves of a piano and a bass drum (i think?) as well as some kind of bell/ringing instrument that had some really interesting horror-style tones, used alongside some creepy sound effects that included breathing and whispering as well as some rattling noises. altogether it created the same kind of dread and anticipation you feel watching scary movies.

fans of seventeen's heavier or more eerie songs (spell, fear, hoshi's spider) are likely already fans of this one. if you like soundtracks to horror movies this might speak to you as well. it's got a similar vibe to witch by xikers and at parts it reminds me of criminal or sexuality by taemin. it's a pretty unique song but it's really amazing.

(also this song coming out at the same time his drama came out with my girl zhang miao yi from when i fly towards you? diabolical advertising with that one i was extremely jun-obsessed for like two months)

'No way they have this placement, they don't act like it at all'.

And then the more I analyse and go more in-depth with their natal chart, the more the pieces fit together and I can understand it more.

Like Jungkook being a Capricorn Rising and a Virgo Moon is not something I would have clocked at all.

But after looking at his natal chart repeatedly, I can now see his placements come out in his personality.

How the Cap Rising/ Saturn ruler resonates with his constant humility.

How his Sun/Moon in the 9th House means he's probably more comfortable in front of a camera than in front of people.

The romantic and 'dreamer' nature of his Libra Venus in the 10th House and his ability to market the 'boyfriend experience' so effectively in his weverse lives.

So yeah, I have that reaction a lot but it just requires more effort and introspection for you to be like...

'Ahh, okay. I get it now'.

First of all, announcements:

1 - Requests OPEN FOR ANY GROUP/IDOL: I know I said I'd stick only to my Tinybebe little bubble, but some kind people asked me about other groups, and I enjoyed doing readings for them, so now I'm fully open to other groups too! ✨🩷

2 - Christmas event + shipp game coming: Most of you who follow me probably came from my shipp games, where you could get a reading on you and your bias. As I said, I stopped doing these readings for free because they were a lot, demanded a lot of energy, and some people didn't even show any gratitude, even a thank you or feedback, and they unfollowed me as soon as I did their reading. So yeah, now I only do it as paid readings, but as promised, I'd host some events on special dates, like Christmas! So please be tuned in, because soon I'll drop the post with the infos and rules! 🎄🎁

4 - Kindness: I would really appreciate it if you could please keep it friendly. You know me, I don't back down in a fight, and I'm not afraid to speak out or even argue when I feel the need to, but I still would appreciate it if you were polite in your asks. It keeps this community cool, easygoing, and friendly. Recently I found this site called Grammar Check (I'll put a pic here) that helps me to translate and fix the grammar mistakes, because, as you know, English is not my first language, and it helps me to be able to post quickly for you, but please, have some patience. I still have a weekly job, sometimes I work on weekends or in extra shifts, and I'm still at the university, so yeah, it could take some time. Please be kind and empathetic! 

I know that a few days ago I said I would be more active, and then I disappeared again, and I'm really sorry about that. Some of you don't know, but in addition to going through financial difficulties, I've been going through a difficult emotional period. I've suffered from anxiety and depression for a long time now, and although I manage to live well most of the time, this year I've had more relapses than usual. I've had problems at home, health problems, and that's made it hard for me to be here constantly.

But I'm really determined to change that. I always get motivated at the end of the year, making plans for the next year and organizing my pending tasks. So yes, I'm working on it! I'm changing my mindset and my habits, and in this way, I'm managing to stabilize myself, and that has helped me lately, so I believe I'll be able to keep my presence here.

Since its trending, I have to ask, what are your craziest hear me outs?

short answer: depends on who asks me, but the bis will get my taste 💡

long answer: many of my nominations would not be unpopular, but i also prefer a very particular look of highly androgynous people like yoongi which the internet in many of its corners has come to gladly enjoy nowadays (i.e. wouldn't perceive as a `totally crazy hear me out´, unless it reaches the republican twitter bubble or something) but the street doesn't since the offline world — sans some big cities — only tolerates a clearcut either-or way of presenting slash styling yourself, status quo and then some.

which i don't like, a problem often especially but ofc not only encountered by bisexuals methinks. since we often long for a 'best of both worlds' (loaded term i know, but you get the concept) manifested in one person by virtue of how we look at people. we wish every guy could serve at least an ounce of timothée chalamet's bountiful curls and hope for hot women giving xena warrior princess in our area 😂 appearances are quite political and curated is what i mean, it depends on who exactly you post your hear-me-out to 💀if i tell dad that i think felix is the ideal man or insist yeonjun is a 100/10, he'll be confused and dismissive as hell i mean

translation = when i declare yoongi is really handsome to me on this blog almost everyone agrees since it's army tumblr 😄 but racist maga joe would surely cuss me out/conservative straights wouldn't get the point, the wording "handsome" would be questioned since ppl who don't know yoongi would rather describe him as cute/babyfaced/feminine or however they'd wanna call him, it depends on what image i use in a post to say he's sexy, and so on.

to any non-bi, non-bts fan or anyone who's not exactly a gnc enthusiast, saying yoongi is top tier and beats any frat jock in terms of his appeal would surely make me look offbeat but if you pertain to these groups (bi, army, etc) you'd easily get how yoongi is boyfriend material and perfectly lovely-looking, and you'd obviously prefer him to whatever current het male standard. even his musical skill and fame/affluence aside, just looks and personality only speaking. if you present me with henry cavill in full red carpet gear and yoongi nestled in his bed, i will instantly bring my pillow and sleep too lmao!

(from a bisexual standpoint, henry cavill looks best as the witcher anyways y'all the high glam fantasy outfits, small waist tailoring and extra long hair suit him much better than tuxedo plus beard)
