General rules

⭐ Reader insert only. 

⭐ MxF pairing or gender neutral. PLEASE SPECIFY female or gender-neutral s/o. By default (most of the time), I will choose gn.

So, you wanna play a Pokémon TTRPG

But you don't have the time to manage 1K entries in a book? Well, I'm working on the thing for you! PokéD6.

Now that I've show you my character sheet concept, let me break down some of the things on it. The biggest thing anyone will notice right away is the lack any numbered stats. This system converts existing BSTs (Base Stat Totals) into a 6 point grade. Above, each black diamond (✦) represents one point of that stat's grade. And any pre-existing pokemon can have it's BST quickly converted by simply dividing any given stat's total by 36 and rounding up, to a max of 6! Each grade also has an associated number of dice, which are always equal to the grade itself, and an associated modifier. A stat's modifier is equal to it's grade plus it's IVs. IVs, represented by the hollow diamonds (✧), have also been simplified down into a single dice roll per stat. So, whenever you capture a new pokemon, roll 6d6. Like with stat grades, each diamond represents the IVs value. IVs cap out at 3.

But, you may find yourself asking, what do Stat Dice and Stat Modifiers even do?

Currently, they're for combat! While the attack itself determines how much damage it can do, the pokemon's stats determine if the attack hits, it's minimum damage, how hard they are to hit, and even how much they can reduce the damage! When attacking, say with a Physical Move, the attacking pokemon rolls 1d6 + their ATK Modifiers against the defending pokemon's DEF Modifier + 3. If the attack hits, roll the move's Power and add any bonuses given. Such as Same Type Attack Bonus (STAB) or type effectiveness. The defending pokemon rolls their DEF Dice, subtracting their result from the Power roll.

Power has now been converted into d6s, to find a pre-existing move's Power divide it's power by 25 and round up! With the exception of very high damaging moves, most moves deal 1d6 to 6d6 damage.

So a move like Tackle deals 2d6 damage.

I could go on, but for now I want to leave this here and just see what people think! I've enjoyed working on it and am pretty close to being able to do a simple beta of it. So, have a copy of the pdf and lemme know what you think!

EDIT (4/20/24): Yo what if I just suddenly dropped even more rules in this post? Yea? Yea! So here's how trainers work!

Trainers are divided into four Careers; Field Researcher, League Challenger, Contest Coordinator and Pokemon Breeder! These careers determine starting gear, recommend a set of skills (more on those later!!!), and determine how the player can make money. Field Researchers are basically the intern equivalent of a Professor's Aide! They go out, encounter as many new pokemon as possible, and get paid a weekly salary! They can even earn bonuses for finding odd pokemon, such as ones with unusual movesets~! League Challengers are pokemon trainers like in the games! Beat gyms, get badges, take on the champion. Easy as! They get paid based on the trainers they defeat, which can be picked up at a PokeCenter or just given to them immediately. Contest Coordinators focus on training pokemon for Gen 3 style'd Contests! They make money by winning contests, with each rank paying out higher rewards! And lastly, Pokemon Breeders! Like the name says, they make their money by breeding and raising pokemon at the requests of the Pokemon League or other trainers. The more specific the request, the more money they earn for it!

Trainers also have skills! These work a lot like Stat Grades, but they don't have an associated modifier. When making a trainer, a player picks 6 skills out of 12. Players then have 18 points to distribute however they want into those 6 skills, up to a maximum of 5. The other skills are left at 1. The skills available are: Archeology, Cheering, Climbing, Cooking, Fishing, Foraging, Knowledge, Nursing, Riding, Sneaking, Spotting and Swimming!

So, what is a drabble?  A drabble is a written work made up of exactly 100 words. Typically viewed as a challenge, drabbles are often meant to test a writer’s skill in brevity, seeing how efficiently they can communicate emotions or ideas through such tight restrictions. For this event, we are using this unique format to bring the joy of MCYT into the world! Think, how would a lighthearted interaction between Tubbo and Tommy play out? How many insults could Grian hurl at Jimmy? How much emotion can you squeeze out of QSMP Jaiden if you’ve only got her in your little writer hands for 100 words? For this event, we encourage you to be creative, try some new things, and most importantly, have fun!   (To get a feel of what you’re working with, keep in mind that the previous paragraph has a word count of 120, twenty words over your limit!)

Are violent/triggering topics allowed? As MCYT content can often include violence, character death, murder games, and other such themes, we do allow them. However those are opt-in - if your giftee hasn’t asked for it, then don’t write it. If you do end up writing about these topics, make sure to tag appropriately! 

What if I can’t finish on time? Contact us on this blog as soon as possible! A pinch hit will be sent out, and your giftee will be reassigned. If you do endup requesting a pinch hit, you will still get your own gift!

How will the matches be made? After the sign ups are done, the event mods will match everyone to ensure everyone gets to write what they signed up for! Once matches are made, you will receive your assignment via Tumblr DMs.

Can I make more than one gift? Of course! As long as it complies with your giftee’s requests you’re welcome to write as many drabbles as your heart desires!

I am happy to place my muse in different settings. There may be some that require plotting, but if we can make it work, then that’s fine. I feel anything can be worked out with proper discussion beforehand to make the verses match.

This interpretation will be darker than the movie, so please be aware of that.

Victor is open to shipping as long as there's chemistry! Due to being from Victorian era England, Victor presents himself as heterosexual but is secretly bi-demisexual. Any shipping between himself and another man would be kept a secret from his family (and society) unless it takes place in a verse where same-sex relationships are more accepted. But please feel free to discuss with me! I'm good at adapting to various verses and situations.

Firstly, as a gifter you are required to write at least one of the requested characters. When it comes to ships, you are only allowed to include the ones requested, though you do not have to include any at all. 

Second, the posting period starts on midnight of 25th, and ends at 11.59PM BST on the 26th of May. We ask that you do not post your gift before that time.

Speaking of, when posting your gift, tag both your giftee and us, regardless if your gift is a link to AO3 or posted directly on Tumblr.

BLEAK CREST RULES

Welcome to Bleak Crest! Before getting started, please carefully read through our rules. Any failure to comply can result in an immediate ban. 

— GAMEPLAY

After the death of Devon Barrett, renowned crime fiction author, you've been invited to join his friends and loved ones in his hometown of Bleak Crest, where many of his books are set, for his funeral. The village of Bleak Crest is one of England's smallest, boasting a population of less than 400 people, and has made its name with Devon's books.

There is an overarching plot, and players are encouraged and free to create their own dynamics and subplots, but any plotline that will affect a large number of players, the main plot of the server, or is potentially triggering needs to be run by the mods first.

Only players over the age of 21 will be accepted. 

— MUSE 

Players will be allowed up to 2 characters, and both must be over the age of 18. Please make sure to consider your availability and activity levels for both characters. OCs and canon characters are welcome, however, please be aware that all characters must be humanized. Superpowers, fantasy elements or other abilities are not allowed, and character lore must be reasonable and believable for a standard, modern-day setting. Characters should be adjusted to fit the season theme, or they will not be accepted.

— BEHAVIOUR 

We want Bleak Crest to be a safe place for everyone. OOC intoxication (including drugs, legal drugs, and alcohol use) is strictly forbidden while roleplaying and chatting within the group. Please decide not to be online at that time. No bigotry or bullying is allowed in this server. In these cases (and others), Mods reserve the right to remove players from the server. If you feel you are being harassed, bullied, or are otherwise unhappy with a situation, please bring screenshots and names to one of our mods, and we will handle the situation. While we understand that character bleed can happen, especially in a high-stakes server, we ask that players step back if they feel they are distressed by IC actions. Your real-life health and well-being take priority over roleplay. Be mindful to avoid clique-ish behaviour and try to step out of your comfort zone by roleplaying with new people. No one likes to feel left out. Cooperation is key in Bleak Crest.

— TRIGGERS

Check the ⁠lines and veils channel often and please be mindful of what you post. A line is something that should not be brought up at all in the server, IC and OOC, with no exceptions. A veil is something that can be brought up in the server but must be placed under a spoiler tag and labelled.

Possible triggers in this season may include murder, suicide, paranoia, possession, player character death, NPC character death, in-character alcoholism, and violence, among others.

— NSFW CONTENT

As a horror server, there will be discussions of blood, gore and other horror-related content present. Please be mindful of this when navigating the server in public spaces. Any visual content of this nature must be spoilered and tagged. Smut is NOT allowed anywhere within the server. Jokes, memes, and appropriately spoilered dialog etc. is acceptable both in and out of character, but further roleplay of this nature should be ' Fade to Black ' or taken to private DMs outside of the server. This is for the comfort of all players.

— ACTIVITY

Players are expected to roleplay both in the IC group chat AND longform threads. This is essential for communicating with each other and engaging with the plot. We do ask that players try to be available for WEEKLY weekend events, which are normally hosted for 2-4 hours, beginning between 6pm and 9pm BST (day and time subject to player preference via poll). It becomes difficult to plan events when players are not actively engaging, and therefore we request that you keep availability in mind before joining.

— MODERATION

Any issues or questions can be directed to the mods via DMs, to either Winter or Ray, or placed in the Help channel. Please be aware that both mods reside in the BST time zone and won’t always be online to help, but we will get to your message when we can.

— PUBLIC INTERACTIONS

Any interactions posted in IC PUBLIC CHANNELS are considered public, meaning that any other character can walk up and join the conversation. This is a great way to interact with more characters, as well as get involved in the main and subplots. If you want a private thread, please go to your own or your writing partner’s IC PRIVATE CHANNEL and create one there. Otherwise, the IC channels provide a space where everyone is free to interact with each other. All threads are time-locked, so you don't have to worry about finishing them before the next event happens.

HOW IT WORKS

Here is the basic overview of how this server works:

Your application must be approved before you can gain access to the server, and you must read the rules thoroughly before you are given access to start roleplaying.

For some IC actions, Bleak Crest uses a points system. This system will replace normal dice rolls and will be explained thoroughly in the points channel. Every character gets 18 points to start with and can earn more points via exploration, good roleplay, and engagement with the plot.

We recommend having your characters explore Bleak Crest at their convenience and recommend interacting as much as possible within the server. There is always more to learn and a new place to look. Your first week here is the perfect opportunity to get to know Bleak Crest and how things work, as the first week will remain free from horrors so you (and your characters) have time to settle in.

As a standard, if characters wish to investigate a certain area or object, please @ the ADMIN role in your thread along with a short description of what you'd like to do or what you're looking for, and a mod will hop in to give you information or ask you to roll. It can be difficult to monitor multiple threads at one time, so please use the @ function to help us ensure your investigation questions aren't missed.

Characters are encouraged to investigate individually or as groups, but please know that there are consequences to your character’s actions. If you’d be afraid to do it, your character probably should be too. This isn't to say that you can't do frightening things, as that's the point of the server, but try to be realistic. Permadeath is a mechanic and, like in real life, death can come from seemingly innocent decisions. Be careful. Stay alert. Mods aren’t actively trying to kill your character, but we aren’t going to hold your hand either. We won’t tell you the outcome of a decision before you make it, but will sometimes present you with options and warnings about what could happen if you proceed to make poor choices. We will NEVER blindside you with the death of your character.

This season does have an intended time limit. We would like to get the plot concluded within 8 to 10 weeks if possible. This isn’t to rush you or to drag things out, but a realistic estimate of how long it’ll take to wrap things up.
