This might just be a me problem but all of my female blogs have gotten alot less interaction that my male characters. Show the girls some love people!

I first watched BSD in 2018, and I spent the first season in confusion and the second season in despair (I got attached to Oda for some reason- who wouldn't be?).

I didn't memorize the names of the characters and couldn't grasp the plot - just thought it was some bad guys after the MC as most shounen animes tend to do.

So it was a surprise when I still remember some events that happened in the Dark Era (in season 2). My heart definitely sank when I realized the fate of the children, and became throughly crushed upon Oda's death.

It was only that year, after the second season, that I closed my laptop and never opened the site for BSD. I just assumed it was only two seasons.

Now in 2023, when I heard of its name rising from the dead (although the fandom probably never died), that I opened my laptop with the intent to watch it again from the first season. So, imagine my surprise when I found out that it's already on season 5 and has a movie.

Watching from the start, now that I'm older (and probably not a good idea to watch when you're not in a good headspace but- ye), gave me the understanding to grasp everything. And it hurts like hell. My heart went out to Atsushi, but Chuuya ended up becoming my favorite character.

Then I discovered the Light Novels (especially Strombringer and BEAST), and suffice to say, I'm never gonna be the same again (the amount of tears I shed-).

I become attach to one or two characters in an anime series because I somehow see myself in them, but I never thought I'd find one where I can see bits of me in multiple fictional characters with names of dead authors and poets.

You know how “the moon is beautiful tonight, isn’t it?” is used as an expression for love confessions? It’s said that Natsume Soseki came up with it after overhearing a student translate “I love you” to Japanese in a very literal sense. While there is no source confirming that this exchange actually happened, I still think a scene referencing the expression with Natsume randomly appearing would be hilarious

I think the reason people believe chuuya would be the more open and affectionate in soukoku (as like. A romantic relationship) is because they believe him to be the mentally stable one and i think the reason people seem to believe he’s one of the few “mentally stable” characters in bsd is because he does not let himself be seen as vulnerable, and the few times we do see him go through something genuinely horrible and having a moment of vulnerability he does not really have the time to truly process it and ends up “moving on” pretty quickly (for example when he was at the flags’ funeral and adam interrupted him, or how when the sheep betrayed him dazai was immediately at his side trying to convince him to join the pm). And even if he does process it and thinks “man that was pretty fucked up wasnt it” it is never shown on screen so i feel like a lot of viewers end up seeing it as him not being bothered by these events and just a pretty chill dude that doesnt wallow in grief or self pity. But i think him never wallowing in grief or self pity is kind of a problem because in the end all he is doing is suppressing all that trauma and not really trying to acknowledge it, but at the same time when he does he ends up pinning the blame on himself (how the sheeps betrayal was his fault, the flags dying because of him). I feel like this impacts how affectionate he is too because he has built up so many walls that at the point when the flags make a party to celebrate the one year anniversary of him joining the pm he gets suspicious, then surprised and then flustered and tries acting like he doesnt care about it. All this is to say that i think him believing he cant show weakness and has to maintain the facade of being “the strongest” makes him seem like some regular degular guy (if he’s not fighting dragons) ends up him getting viewed as some mentally stable, communicative guy with maaaybe just a bit of anger issues when in reality he got so embarrassed by dazai’s corny speech in mersault that he shot him in the head with a gun

I think I have semi common interactions with 1 female character. PLEASE HAVE MORE WOMEN. that’s probably why there’s so much MlM in comparison to everything else, it’s almost impossible to get anything else

I know I said I was rewatching the past seasons of BSD, but I'm too afraid to watch season 2 again because I don't want to feel my heart plummet with dread when I realized the fate of the children the first time around, nor do I want to be encased with the grief of losing Oda for a second time.

My memories are doing their job enough with giving me those pain by replaying the scenes in my head over and over every time I remember, and I do not want to go through it personally again.
