It's been a while since Bruno was in charge of all of the kids at one time, sure, but he's not worried. They're good kids, and he's an awesome uncle, so what could possibly go wrong?

Julieta Madrigal
Tumblr media
Ok, I was inspired by a previous post to write a character analysis of Julieta.
So, the deal with Julieta is that she’s not exactly the golden child, at least not at first. It’s more like she’s the Good Girl of the family. The one that Alma doesn’t have to worry about because she’s so mature for her age. She’s quiet, humble, and kind. The one who may have been overlooked in favor of her louder and more boisterous siblings.
Tumblr media
She can heal people with the food she makes and the love she carries for everyone in the Encanto. So therefore, no, she’s not the golden child, she’s the Caretaker.
The extra set of hands Alma needed when things were too much for her. If Alma was feeling down or depressed, or too busy, and Julieta’s siblings were anxious or upset, Julieta would take care of it. No need to bother their mother unless it’s an emergency, right?
It’s been said she was born to be a mother and that’s because she’s been mothering her family and half the town since she was five. Those are the sort of expectations she carries around.
Tumblr media
I think that’s what allows her to relate to her older daughters and sobrinos who fill a similar role of support within the family. She’s the healer, the caretaker.
She lends a listening ear; she tries to make you smile with food and words of affirmation; she shoulders the family’s burdens; she sees their hurt and tries her best to lighten the load.
She was probably the one Alma was eager to marry off first, because she would make such a good mom and matriarch to the family, kind of like Isabela. So good for the Encanto.
But instead of marrying the perfect guy, like Isa planned to, she married the perfect guy for her, Agustin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also think she blames herself for Bruno leaving. He was obviously hurting and she feels she failed him because she couldn’t fix it.
That’s why she parents Mirabel the way she does. She sees a lot of her brother in her daughter and that’s why she tells Mirabel not lose her way in this family the same way her brother did.
She always tries to reassure her daughter that she is perfect, that she’s enough, just the way she is. She doesn’t have to try so hard. She showers them all, with unconditional love and affection. (Something Alma wasn’t very good at doing that much growing up.)
Tumblr media
And as great as those things are it wasn’t always what her kids needed. She’s a caretaker, but she’s also very passive. Unlike her siblings, she’s the “unproblematic” one. “Señorita Perfecta” in that she avoids making waves and causing conflict. She tries to be a good daughter, and not give her mother a hard time. That’s what I think she has someone like Agustin for. A husband who stands by her and will firmly stand up for his family, and always support them, no matter what. And that’s exactly what he does. So yeah, I think she’s an amazing mom, and a great role model with her own flaws and problems just like everyone else.

So I really don’t like Encanto’s music
Tumblr media
That’s a lie.
I actually love “We don’t talk about Bruno” and I will always cry about “Dos Orugitas”.
But, Familia Madrigal? Don’t like it.
Waiting on a Miracle? Don’t like it.
Surface Pressure? Don’t like it.
What Else Can I Do? On thin fucking ice.
And that’s apparently a very controversial opinion. I was a bit baffled to see that everyone universally loved songs that I would consider objectively bad. I’ve seen musical experts make extensive videos on how good it is, which for the longest time deterred me from even saying how much I disliked it.
But like, I really can’t stay quiet about it anymore.
Okay, so first of all, we have to talk about accents.
Lin Manuel Miranda is from Puerto Rico. If you’ve ever heard them talk, you notice people from PR have a distinct way of talking. They put a lot of stress at the end of every syllable, and they talk very very fast. No, really. They talk very fast. There’s an inside joke among Latino people that most of us can’t understand Puerto Rican Spanish because it’s so fast and has what I can only describe as a “choppy pronunciation”. This is to say, they cut off their words off, use a lot of contractions and put the stress of a syllable always in the same place.
You can watch this interview with Bad Bunny to see what I’m talking about.
You can hear it, it’s extremely fast paced with even intervals of stress in their words. When they sing (again any Bad Bunny song can work to prove my point) you can hear that same style. Fast paced, with even intervals in the stress of their syllables.
This is their accent, coming through their music. It makes marvelous songs. Puerto Rican have a very distinct accent and their music gave way for this new wave of reggae music we see. One filled with rap and hip-hop beats. This is because their accent makes rapping the most comfortable medium for them to sing in.
And. When you put that side by side with Lin Manuel’s music, you’ll realize that it’s exactly the way he writes music. Most Puerto Rican musicians sing and rap in Spanish, for obvious reasons, but Lin does it in English! That is why it piqued a lot of Americans’ interest. His style was common in Spanish but innovative in English.
What Lin Manuel did is truly amazing. He mixed hip-hop, rap and Puerto Rican instruments to create his breakthrough musical In The Heights. This mix was a hit because of how well these three mix.
Lin Manuel raps, not only because he’s a lyrical genius, but his own accent gives him a natural advantage. It works best in his first musical because it is about his own struggles and lived experiences, growing up in Washington Heights.
In Hamilton, he leans more to hip-hop culture, mixing more African American styles of music. He’s using that same Puerto Rican intonation and style, and mixing it with hip hop, to tell a white story.
The juxtaposition of them both creates something unique. Founding Father history is boring, white and frankly tired. Giving it this new spin, mixing all types of sounds and voices, creates an idea that THIS history belongs to everyone; not just white people.
But. That doesn’t work in Encanto.
The problem with Encanto is that he’s trying to do the same thing he did in both previous musicals - but there is no reason for Puerto Rican inspired sounds to dominate the soundtrack (And boy do they dominate it)
This is about Colombian music and Colombian stories.
Like, people from the USA and who grew up there, adopt the same view of culture: The idea that all Latino cultures are extremely similar, should be melted together, and that everyone is allowed to contribute to part of it. It makes sense. Latinos form a community in a foreign country, where everyone is brothers and sisters, shoved into the same places and spaces.
But that only happens in the USA. In Latinoamérica, because everyone (for the large part, and excluding political refugees) has their own country where to create their own country style. So, while we are all friends - we’re not roommates, we’re neighbors. So people intruding into their culture, seems more of a bad taste.
Colombia is Colombia. They have a cultural identity almost separate and foreign to any other country (EXCEPT those that formed La Gran Colombia in the years of old). It makes no sense for a story or movie about it to have Puerto Rican sounds, Mexican sounds, Chilean sounds etc.
And Lin Manuel doesn’t seem to notice that his music, at its purest, is Puerto Rican sounds mixing with the environment. So, when he got put in charge of Encanto’s music, he used his style to create it- which leads to this huge problem where two entirely different sounds and style get put in a hotpot and what comes out is…
Odd.
Why did this happen, again?
Well, many reasons: in part bcs cause Disney is Disney and doesn’t see Latino countries as their own thing, in part bcs I believe Lin was filled with hubris of his own success and in part bcs I think he just didn’t understand what a fumble he was doing; but that doesn’t change the fact that - they simply do not fit here.
I genuinely believe that, Disney being Disney, assigned their only Latino musical man to write the music for their Latino musical. Ignoring the fact that Lin Manuel has only one type of musical style, which is at complete odds with Colombian music or stories. Disney (in my opinion) waved their hand and let the Latino do their Latino stuff without bothering to check if they were the RIGHT type of Latino - and so, we ended up in this mess.
And Moana at least had Somoan artists writing alongside Lin Manuel to at least, reign in some of Lin’s more obvious attempts to make this Hamilton 2.0. But in Encanto? He had one artist writing alongside him whose only other connection to Latinoamérica was Coco.
And listen, I’m not here to say white people can’t write compelling music - Coco is a great example of white people stealing and replicating the aesthetics of a culture so well its scary - but it is iffy.
So, yeah. Encanto has Lin Manuel’s style all over itself like it’s In the Heights 2.0
The problem?
This is not about you Lin!
His style becomes horrendously apparent when he tries to mix in Colombian Music with lyricism genetically engineered to fit Puerto Rican Vocal Cords. Add to that that the fucking Main Character is voiced by a Puerto Rican artist and what you get - is music that signals one thing, and a voice that signals other.
Causing this entire thing to sound, not only convoluted - but also so off the beat you would think a white man wrote it.
Okay, so let’s take Familia Madrigal, and I’m gonna use it to point out the obvious:
Stephanie Beatriz is NOT COLOMBIAN.
Which, by the way, fucking shows. Her accent kills any indication you may have that Maribel is actually Colombian.
I know, that people from the USA failed geography in kindergarten and don’t even know that people from Latinoamerica are separated into countries - but surprise surprise they do. And they ALSO have extremely different accents.
Someone from Colombia speaks differently from someone from Argentina, or Mexico etc. So when Maribel opens her mouth, imagine my shock when, what I hear, isn’t a Colombian accent but a Puerto Rican one.
And while you think it can’t - it shows very much in the way people sing too.
It’s like a show brightly saying “this is a movie dedicated to London culture and it’s set in London using London narratives to tell it”.
And the main character starts speaking - and she has a fucking Texan accent.
Like, genuinely, from the bottom of my heart:
Why did Disney hire a Puerto Rican person to voice act their Colombian character…?
I get that they did something similar in Coco, but two things 1) Guatemala is pretty close to Mexico. 2) The sound design is so Mexican it’s scary. You CAN hear that there’s some missing timber and accent in some songs, but you just assume it’s due to Disney purposely flattening the more “ugly” parts of Mexican music (aka, this breathy raspy tone you use for some ‘corrido’ and mariachi music) because even the Spanish version is missing it.
But because Encanto was written by Lin - he’s writing lyrics with an undeniably Puerto Rican accent. THEN, you make the girl singing it a Puerto Rican girl, with a heavy PR accent.
And you’re left with this…song. That has lyrics genetically engineered to favor Puerto Rican pronunciation with Colombian Music in the background. It makes this weird, jarring sensation that, to me, feels like nothing I’ve heard before.
Which, if this were a new experimental musical, I would probably find it interesting.
But for fucks sake, Lin. This is a Colombian story. You’re supposed to be channeling COLOMBIAN vibes. Not whatever this is.
Okay, want an example? Compare “Familia Madrigal” to another Colombian artist (that isn’t Shakira) Bacilos: I think that Mi Primer Millón is the closest thing I can think of.
You’ll notice two things:
1) The voice that sings is so slow. It doesn’t rush every single sentence, the way it’s very characteristic of Lin. This is very common in Colombian music. It’s not fast paced. It’s lively! Fun! But not quick-paced the way Puerto Rican is. It’s relaxed.
And
2) The words drag. It’s not each syllable being stressed, but everything sorta drags and blends with the word in front of it.
It’s completely different from Family Madrigal - even if the music is kinda similar.
That’s what I mean when I say that Stephanie Beatriz’s accent kills any illusion of Maribel being Colombian. The way she sings would be PERFECT for a reggae song, or set in the nebulous America where all Latino culture is a melting pot.
But it doesn’t sound distinctly Colombian. It sounds - fucking American. And Disney American at that. Because there’s no hard defying Colombian aesthetic, but more of vaguely Latino sound.
The same happens in Waiting on a Miracle.
So, this works on two levels. First is the Disney “I want song” ballad, like Part of your world, I cannot stress how quickly it’s going, and how little it conveys.
As Colombian music - I heard Lin say that they’re using a Bambuco, a type of music known to have ¾ rhythm instead of 4/4 to symbolize Maribel. All family members sing in 4/4 while Maribel, the odd one out, sings in a ¾.
Except, when I heard this I was like:
What the fuck do you mean this is a Bambuco?
I was genuinely confused because Waiting on a Miracle does not sound like a Bambuco, not even in the Spanish dub, where like half the problems I have with the music are fixed.
But then you listen to background music without the vocals, and you’re like oh. Yeah, that kinda is a Bambuco!
The lyrics ruin it tho.
A popular Bambuco song is “El Barcino” which, when put side by side with Waiting on a Miracle, show that the lyrics ruin any pace the song is creating.
El Barcino uses letters that end and starts on vocals, and are short, to make sure that it has the least amount of syllables, even when it’s using quite a bit of words. It helps everything sorta blend together, with the harshest sounding letters like “r” and “ll” being left to the end. With that last word being the one that drags on the most.
Esta es la historia (4)
De aquel novillo (4)
Que había nacido (4)
Allá en la tierra (4)
Compare that to Waiting on Miracle that seems to do the opposite. It uses constant consonants that purposely break the sound, with no long words to drag at the end. In FACT it seems like the last word is the one that gets cut abruptly. With the middle of the sentence being the one that drags a bit.
I can’t heal what’s broken (6)
Can’t control the morning rain (7)
Or a hurricane (4)
Never mind that each line has a different syllable number.
The Spanish dub tries to fix this, and that’s why I say it’s much better. The actual VA attempts to sing in a way that mushes together the first few syllables, and puts stress on the last word - and the Spanish writers are fighting for their lives to shorten the syllables by using as many vocals as they can.
But genuinely, there’s just so much they can do, when Lin’s writing comes bashing with a hammer with its stupid tempo.
And I’ve heard people say that “well, Mirabel sings so different because she’s the odd one in the family”, which-…
Do you think that? Then why didn’t they hire a Colombian VA? Or a South American VA? Someone who could more closely emulate the type of accent Colombian people have?
My opinion, they wanted Stephanie because Lin is KNOWN to work with people from previous projects, in this case Stephanie was in his production of In Height Movie. I think he wanted her to land the job at Disney. Disney saw a big name with big backing and decided to cast her as the Main Character. And when this happened, Lin started writing her songs in a way that she felt more comfortable, or molding Mirabel’s character around parts of Stephanie herself (which is not unheard of, or even a bad practice. But it effectively ruins a pretty good song for me).
Less than Lin choosing Stephanie to sing this way bcs Maribel sings this way, I think it’s more of a Mirabel sings like this bcs Lin chose so, bcs it fits Stephanie better.
But again, it ends up sounding nothing like Colombian Bambuco. I don’t even know what it sounds like.
The problem I think, lies in the fact that three things are fighting like crazy in this song - Lin’s lyricism that has no business being here, a Disney Formula that was on its way to becoming so tired it ended up as “Wish”, and actual Colombian music that is sitting here being yanked and stretched to fit whatever these two idiots decide is best today.
As an “I want song” ballad, it also fails massively. I’m gonna go ahead and show an actual song in English to prove my point - Shakira. I’m using her first album in English (because it’s the one that is less touched by outside American influences), and picking the one that sounds the most like an I Want ballad throughout. It’s not a 1:1 but I hope it proves my point.
Take Waiting on a Miracle vs Underneath Your Clothes (granted, at this point Shakira still uses rock in her music (RIP Shakira rockera you will be missed) so I acknowledge the music is different. I’m focusing more on her voice rn)
You can definitely see the difference in the accent and way I’m so genuinely offended they hired Stephanie (her talent be damned, I want my Colombian artists to be given a chance)
You can hear the way Shakira sorta Just sings? There’s no choppy attempts to fit syllables into the right tempos. She dances with the music, instead of forcing herself through it.
Like, the “I can’t control the morning rain or a hurricane” sounds like it’s cut in pieces. But “And all the things that I deserve” just doesn’t. It stays in the beat with the music.
What's even weirder, tho is that recently, Shakira used Reggae and Puerto Rican style music to mix with her music.
Bizzarap may be an Argentinian musician but in her song with him she, well, raps and used that similar choppy style of lyrics that Lin uses - just that the background music is obviously not Colombian - but hearing her you can hear how different it is from Maribel’s singing.
And it’s a great example that my problem isn’t PR girls singing - cause honestly the song slaps - but that they’re doing it in Colombian story ; set in Colombia, where honestly PR culture has no business being here. Like, Venezuelan inspire music, Panama inspired music, or even Ecuador music wouldn’t be weird…But Puerto Rican? They weren’t even part of La Gran Colombia.
But okay, not everything is awful.
I actually love We don't talk about Bruno, because for all the reasons why Lin Manue style does not fit Colombian Music - musicals DO fit Colombian Music! And when done RIGHT, you get this masterpiece. They do everything right
Tia Pepa IS voiced by a Colombian girl! (Who also sung the Spanish dub, oh my god Carolina Gaitan the woman you are!)
The lyrics are repetitive and simple. Which allows people to actually sing! You can hear her drag the last word really nicely when she sings, it’s such a delight to the ears.
It’s followed by Dolores doing a RAP! A proper rap, to which they have a Puerto Rican rap singer!! No wonder she’s the highlight of the song! This was built for her, and she nailed it! Oh, my god, you see how amazing something can sound if you just know what you’re doing??? The Colombian girl who does the Spanish dub doesn’t pull it as good as the English dub.
The sudden change from Dolores to Camilo is great.
The ensemble is amazing. If Lin can do something good is an ensemble where everyone is singing their own verse.
Like I cannot stress how amazing everything fits for this.
What Else Can I do?
I say this is on thin ice because it shows that the problem isn’t just Lin lyricism but the fact that both Maribel and Luisa are voiced by Puerto Rican Voice Actresses.
That said, oh my god the Spanish dub is like 10x better. In English, they hired a PR VA for Maribel. But in Spanish? The entire cast is ACTUALLY Colombian!
(Fun fact! When I was listening to the Spanish Dub of this song I thought it was Mexican Inspired because the choppy Lin Style changed slightly to mix with someone singing with this melodic type of intonation - sounds extremely like a Tatiana song. Her version of the “Won’t Say I’m In Love” sounds so similar to this song. If you still think not, “Gotita de Amor” has such big vibes with “Inspiración” (Aka WECID but Spanish), it’s actually funny.)
It sounds really fun. But it’s again, not something I find ground breaking, The song is finally one that doesn’t put too much emphasis on the choppy Lin style - but that’s probably because THEY HIRED AN ACTUAL COLOMBIAN VA.
That said, this could have been a great way to introduce some Colombian rock - given that they ARE using an electric guitar in the background and she’s supposed to be breaking the idea of the ‘perfect daughter’ - but sure, let’s go for the generic Disney Princess Rebel sound. Sure, whatever, who cares about any sort of cultural references at this point, anyways.
(Never mind that THE Shakira started out as a rock girlie and her original albums could have been a great fit for Isabela - like Donde Estas Corazón or Si Te Vas)
Okay enough, at this point you either got what I was saying, or are still pissed that I don’t like the music.
Either angry that I don’t give Stephanie the flowers she deserve, that I’m too harsh on Lin, or that I have a vendetta against PR.
I think she’s an amazing actress, I think she has a great voice. I love In the Heights, I had a Hamilton phase, and was super into 21 Jump Street until I realized it’s copaganda (we don’t have time to discuss you). And I don’t think there’s someone who appreciate having reggae songs being put in the club downtown more than me, because seriously WHITE PEOPLE NEED TO STOP PUTTING ABBA TO SIGNAL THAT THE PARTY IS ENDING.
Now. My problem isn’t that. It isn’t even the fact that people from the PR were put in charge of writing a Colombian story.
The music from Coco is Amazing. I have no idea how they managed it, but every single song sounds like one I grew up with. Ernesto’s Remember Me sounds like something my mom would listen to when we clean up a Saturday morning. Juanita sounds like something my grandpa would listen to when he’s drunk and thinking of my late grandma. Llorona sounds like the songs I used to dance to in Folklore Dancing classes when I was a kid.
And it was written by an Italian guy.
I’m not usually one to gatekeep who gets to make music. But I think the key difference here is:
The Italian guy knew he was intruding in a place he didn’t belong. This was not his music he had to replicate, and he had to put extra effort to make sure it sounded authentically Mexican and not Italian.
Lin did not have this approach. At least not when writing the songs. He tried to sample Colombian music, but did not put the effort into making sure his own bias of what music should sound like affect the music he’s writing.
Because Lin didn’t feel like he was intruding on a place! He felt like he was in his own environment, where he could play with the sounds and incorporate them into his own style.
But he wasn’t. He isn’t Colombian. He shouldn’t have felt this comfortable
And no one ever thought to tell him “this doesn’t sound authentic” bcs a) he’s Latino, therefore his music should be authentically Latino (even when, in his case, he’s not Colombian) b) he’s always been able to sell.
It’s a bit of a bummer. Because even after Encanto released, I saw everyone giving him flowers and loving it and streaming it - when all I could do was stare at it and feel like there was something wrong.
It sounded like Lin. It sounded like Disney. But it didn’t sound like Colombia.
It speaks a lot about an issue in Latinoamerican spaces in the USA and Canada that non-Latino people have been trying to talk about for ages, just to be ignored. That is: American-born “Latinos” are not really considered part of the Latino community in full. A lot of the values and perspectives that are considered by the LatAm community as integral to our culture, do not get transmitted to American-born Latinos. They’re raised with a hyper-individualistic mindset, assuming they can take from LatinoAmerican countries, when they have not lived the -frankly- harsh reality of everyday here. They don’t understand the culture, or the language, or day to day struggles - yet they feel entitled grab it and create aesthetics with no regards to the realities of people who have to live those experiences.
A great example is, Lupita in her recent “Emilia Perez” role. She did not care for the actual struggles of people living in Mexico. Even though she’s considered “Latina” by the USA, she’s not considered so in LatAm. Because she lived within the American privilege, she never bothered to understand the culture she is from, and is more than ready to throw away what she believed to be her “community” for a chance at the table.
And while Lin didn’t do something as egregious as to defend Jacques, he still sorta perpetuates this idea. That he’s entitled to take what he wants from LatAm countries because he is “Latino”. Even when he was raised in New York, and should be treating the cultures of other countries with respect and acknowledgement that they are not the same.
Something I need to kudos for is hiring Sebastian Yatra. His contribution to this movie is genuinely the highlight of the entirety of Disney in this decade. Two Orugitas and Dos Orugitas are songs that I think about constantly. He’s a very famous Colombia artist who created some of my favorite songs (Tacones Rojos, Ojos Marrones, Traicionera etc), so I was very happy to see him involved in this movie. In fact, I think it made wonders for his career. His success with Tacones Rojos undoubtedly made bigger with people knowing from this movie.
There’s also Colombia, Mi Encanto. I like that song. I think it’s great.
There was genuine effort put into this movie. And trying to trash it entirely because I think Lin did a terrible job in research, isn’t fair. There are good things about this movie, and musically I’ve heard worse. It’s not…shall I say unlistenable? I do listen to some of these songs. They’re interesting musical theater pieces. And, for all I hate his work on this movie, Lin does have power with the pen. He’s a genius of a lyricist.
But I felt the need to point out that, while Encanto does have good music, it’s surrounded by a very distinct type of internalized American imperialism that no one will care to ever address

Danny in an Encanto crossover gives the impression of someone trying to befriend a stray feral cat and bring them inside to give the love and shelter, but the stray feral cat doesn’t trust them and keeps hissing every time they get too close.
Although, I’d love to see everyone being completely accepting of Danny. They don’t look at him with suspicion or hatred when they see him slip up, they’re amazed! He has powers just like the Madrigals? That’s super cool! And he has more than one? Not just phasing through solid objects, but also invisibility and sensing ghosts nearby? Even better!
I bet that Bruno would relate to him in a way. They were both looked down on for their powers, but in different ways. Bruno because he mostly predicted bad things with no control over it, and Danny because a lot of people, including his parents, really didn’t like “Phantom” because the sole reason that he was a ghost. Alma knew that it was Bruno who had the powers, Danny’s parents didn’t know he was the ghost they keep shooting at.
Also, Danny 100% defends Bruno from any villagers who blame him for having bad visions. Bruno’s lacked social interaction with other humans for ten whole years, but Danny’s up for fighting for him. His favorite line to use was “If I’m a child and I have to explain this to you, what does that say about you as an adult?”. He didn’t get in trouble for it.
Danny talks about space and teaches them about it! He’s more than happy to explain it all and answer their questions the best he can!
Danny eats Julieta’s food and is honestly freaked out because his ribs are suddenly not broken anymore. Take it a step further and say that he’s sleep deprived, and one of the side effects of having food that heals you is that it can make you really tired if you haven’t slept well for a while, so you can’t help but take a quick nap. So he just falls unconscious after a few bites and wakes up in the early morning not knowing what year it is.
It doesn’t get rid of his death mark, though, which confuses everyone. Speaking of his death mark, Danny doesn’t like to talk about it, but eventually explains that it’s a scar from being zapped. He doesn’t go into detail or talk about what exactly the incident did to him, though. He just mentions that he got zapped and has a scar from it.
Eventually, the Madrigals will come to the realization that he doesn’t just have ghost-like powers. He’s actually a ghost. Half ghost, at least.
Also, Danny swears he sees Pedro around the house, not just in the paintings, and the most often place is by Alma’s side. He’s even had conversations with him. To everyone else, it looks like he’s talking to thin air, but he seems so fixated on something that’s actually there and listens to nothing so much that they think he’s actually being serious. Once, during a conversation with Alma and she was telling him about Pedro, he looked at her very confused and said “What are you talking about? He’s standing right next to you”.
At first, she was upset, but he said it with way too much confusion and conviction that she starts to realize he’s serious. Every time someone says that he isn’t, Danny gestures to nothing and goes “Are you blind?! He’s right there!”. In his eyes, Pedro really is there, looking awkward because this kid sees him and is arguing with his family about it.
Honestly, Danny doing something by himself and then suddenly turning around and making immediate direct eye contact with Pedro would be really funny. Pedro is honestly freaked out because something seemed off with the kid from the beginning, and he just made eye contact with a ghost?
Tumblr media
Oh, and you best believe that after being treated so nicely by everyone, Danny will start throwing hands the second another ghost tries to cause them trouble.
Make it even better by combining it with Good Vlad. The two just show up one day trying to find a place to live. Their dynamic confuses more than a few people because people usually treat their god father or technical uncle with love and respect. Danny’s constantly getting on his nerves for the fun of it, doing things including but not limited to taking his coffee. He also calls him a “fruit loop”, which apparently means someone insane. Vlad calls him “Little Badger”, and yes, he’s actually been bitten by Danny once because Vlad startled him when he grabbed him to pull him out of danger and Danny’s first instinct was to bite him.

What you hate about each Encanto character and what you love about each Encanto character?
oh this is such a fun ask! a hard question as I love all the madrigals and the fact they’re so flawed makes them more fun to follow!
alma: i love her commitment, how she vowed to protect all these people even sacrificing her own needs to provide for others, how she promised these people a place of refudge and was always there to provide.
dislike: An obvious one here but I dislike how controlling alma can be, how her need for perfection can blind her and lead her to disregarding her own families feelings as well as her own! Her generally dismissing a lot of the problems of her family like telling pepa to control her emotions or not realizing how hurtful her comments are to mirabel.
pepa: i love how emotional she is! when pepa loves she loves with her entire heart she pours her all into every interaction and she wears her heart on her sleeve! she’s so compassionate! pepa truly is an open book and I love her for it!
dislike: i would probably say how she can get irrational very quickly and cause situations to elevate fast! Although I really can’t blame her for this based on the circumstances!
julieta: i always describe julieta as warm and i feel like no other word can capture her comforting nature and gentleness. I just love her warmth and her soothing energy!
dislike: I would say how she tends to coddle mirabel a lot. I know it comes from a place of love but you can see it doesn’t help mirabel and only makes her feel more insecure because julieta doesn’t understand her.
bruno: for bruno I would say I love how selfless he is. It’s a big thing to sacrifice your own sanity like that for someone else and it’s touching how much he truly cares about mirabel to want to protect her like that.
dislike: i would have to say how he’s timid a lot of the time. It’s sad to see him become so resigned and almost accept his fate and stay in the walls possibly forever. He had no fight left in him.
felix: I adore how felix is just the epitome of life of the party! he’s so uplifting and I love how he never gives out to pepa for her emotions. He’s the best at cheering people up and a sunshine in everyone’s lives!
dislike: about felix? that’s hard to say I feel like we don’t see enough of him for me to really base my answer on anything so I’m just gonna say how he told pepa about the vision at dinner😭 dude that was the worst idea!!
agustín: i love how supportive he is! He continuously supports julieta he runs after luisa when she’s upset and he promises mirabel he would hide the vision to protect her! the fact both he and julieta tried to go after her when she ran for the candle too! He also fiercely stands up for mirabel in such an iconic way and he doesn’t back down!
dislike: I would have to say how he can often hammer in the fact he is also unexceptional to try relate to mirabel but it makes the situation worse.
isabela: I love how loyal isa is. She was doing everything for the sake of the family and was willing to sign her entire life away just to keep them happy. Her loyalty knows no limits and I just feel it’s such a defining trait for her.
dislike: probably how smug she can be at times a key example being the apologize scene! it is funny but it’s also infuriating how smug she was making mirabel apologize for something she didn’t even do. Also how she tells mirabel to shut up and her general rude remarks to her!
dolores: for dolores I would say I love how attentive she is! small scene but how she immediately notices alma needs help and goes to offer her support! She notices the small details even without her super hearing! Like how she points out how mariano talks loud even though she hears everyone’s voice his always stuck out to her <3
dislike: probably how she blurts stuff out without thinking it through! like we know she was trying to be helpful when she told the kids mirabel doesn’t have a gift but she didn’t consider how mirabel would feel about that.
luisa: I love how kind luisa is! she was always willing to lend a hand to the people who need her even when they absolutely could deal with a lot of issues themselves! She’s also very sensitive and soft and I love when she allows herself to be vulnerable!
dislike: this might be unexpected but for dislike i would have to say how she kept ignoring mirabel when she wanted to talk. I understand she was stressed and mirabels being irritating but she could atleast look at her, mirabels already ignored a lot already and all she wanted was to talk to her sister about an issue.
camilo: like how mirabel says in the opening song I love how camilo won’t stop until he makes people smile! whether it be through his humor or his compassion I get the impression he would always be there for people. the scene where he comforts pepa is such a key example of this!
dislike: he can be a bit too blunt at times where it’s definitely not called for! he also has a tendency to exaggerate the truth for dramatic effect!
mirabel: have always said this and always will mirabels core trait is her empathy! Her ability to see others perspectives and empathize with them is so important! I always think of the “I need you” scene as a key example of this. She put aside her own feelings and focused on supporting antonio making sure he’s ok! how when she learns of the other madrigals struggles she tries her best to help them or comfort them! empathy is such a strong defining trait for her!
dislike: when it comes to mirabels negative traits I would have to say her stubbornness is the most prominent. the entire scene in isabelas room is proof of this she would have rathered let that house collapse than apologize or even listen to isabelas struggles the fact she was supportive and empathic to everyone’s issues but isas (at first) she was too stubborn to put aside her issues with isa! but also her recklessness and impulsiveness tie into this as well.
antonio: I love everything about him he’s so sweet and caring and I love how he returns the support mirabel gave to him! he always believed in her and was her biggest supporter and best friend! also how offered his plushie to comfort bruno when he was nervous! antonio is just such a caring kid!
dislike: nothing literally nothing how can u dislike this baby?

It's midnight, and there's an elusive mosquito flying around my room preventing me from sleeping, so here are some cooking headcanons for the Madrigals:
Alma: She can cook well but tends to stick to the same meals all the time. She doesn't try many new things in the kitchen and is wary of new food items.
Félix: He is a grilling master. Give him an open fire to cook over, and he can make anything taste great.
Julieta: She had an interest in cooking from a young age, and her gift solidified her place in the kitchen. She can make anything, and everything she makes is perfectly seasoned. She likes to experiment - her siblings or Agustín and Félix are always the taste testers.
Pepa: She never had an interest in cooking, so she tends to burn things when she gets bored and distracted. She makes the best coffee, though.
Agustín: He's a clumsy disaster with everything he does (except being a dad) and that doesn't change in the kitchen. If he cooks, he ends up injured, something is set on fire or broken, and the food ends up ruined somehow. He still likes to be there as moral support while Julieta is cooking though, and serves as a taste tester when required.
Bruno: He's a mediocre cook and everything he makes isn't bad, but he does tend to undercook things because he's anxious about burning it, opens the oven too often to check on stuff, or flips things so much that they end up breaking apart.
Isabela: She likes to study herbs and other edible plants in order to improve them, but would rather have other people cook with them. She would much rather spend her time growing the food and working in a garden than cooking with it. She makes the best tea, though, and loves experimenting with tea mixes.
Dolores: She doesn't have much of an interest in cooking, but does like to make soup. The quiet bubbling sound that the boiling soup stock makes is soothing and drowns out some of the other noises her ears are constantly picking up. It's a long and quiet process that she enjoys.
Luisa: She loves to bake. Bread, cookies, cakes, and other desserts are her favourite things to make. She will often ask Isabela for herbs to experiment with in her loaves of bread.
Camilo: He likes to cook and is good at it. At a young age, he was interested in cooking and often followed Julieta around or watched baking rise in the oven. People usually thought he was after food because of his appetite, but he enjoys the process of transforming ingredients into a delicious dish. Bruno joked about switching his sisters' babies without them knowing once and got a hot arepa thrown at his head.
Mirabel: She's not quite as clumsy as her father in the kitchen, but she tends to avoid cooking. If she can help the cook with anything, she'll jump right in and try her best, though! She does like to make pies. Her favourite part is making designs to decorate the top of the pie. The kitchen usually ends up very messy when she's in there, but she doesn't mind cleaning up after herself.
Antonio: He's especially interested in helping decorate cakes or pies and making fun cookie shapes. He isn't as interested in cooking as Camilo was at his age, though. Guaranteed to have some animal fur get into the food, pet fur is inevitable after all.

In your next gen Encanto au, who gets along with who the best and why?
(Between the cousins, their parents and grandparents or whatever you'd like to do).
Decided to format it where I say their friend group, their "favorite" kid/grandkid/sibling/cousin.
Of course, by "favorite" I mean "person they get along with best/ spend the most time with" but that's long and complicated to say.
No one actually has "favorites" is what I'm trying to say (except for a few of them lol)
Alma: She hangs out with the other elders of the village, including Señora Guzmán. Once Raimi and his side of the family get introduced into the Encanto, she also spends a lot of time with them. Out of her kids, Bruno is the favorite, no question. She spends a lot of time making amends with him. Similarly, her favorite grandkid is now Mirabel. Great-grandkid wise, I'd say her favorite is either Zoe or Mariana.
Julieta: She has a handful of friends in the village, but she seems like the type of person to focus on having a small circle of close friends, rather than a lot. She's close with Augustín's mother, but not so much his father (they have a terse relationship). She claims not to have a favorite child, but like...it's Mirabel, come on. She also claims to not have a favorite grandchild, but she and Fuega bond over cooking.
Pepa: Pepa has a lot of friends from the village, including Félix's brother, Gabriel. Her favorite child is Camilo (he's a mama's boy) and she's...less subtle about it than Julieta is. Her favorite grandchild is easily her "twin" Leta, the first grandbaby, no matter how many heart attacks she gives her.
Bruno: Bruno slowly but surely acquires a small friend group upon his return (mainly with Pepa and Julieta's help). It's only about four or five people (which includes both Amelia and Sofía's crushes' parents), which is just fine by him. He also claims not to have a favorite child, but he empathizes with Sofía a lot.
Augustín: He's kind of a nerd, and so doesn't have many friends outside of the Madrigals. He mainly spends time with Julieta and her friend group. He doesn't have a favorite child, he loves his girls equally, but his favorite grandchild is probably Lidia. He likes her sass, okay?
Félix: He's very popular among the townsfolk, and has more friends than even Pepa. His favorite child is Dolores, but the only two people who know are Pepa and Mariano (because he threatened Mariano with death if he ever hurt his baby girl). His favorite grandchild is José. They have the same personality.
Isabela: She has many friends around the village, including Maria (Fuega's mom) and Lili. Most of them were made either after she dropped her "Señorita Perfecta" persona, or from before she felt pressured to be perfect. Her favorite parent is actually Augustín, and her favorite sibling is probably Mirabel, let's be real. Her favorite cousin is Dolores (I would DIE for their friendship). She actually doesn't have a favorite of her girls, not even a secret one.
Dolores: Poor Dolores doesn't have many friends. It's hard for her to be social with her gift, and she's gained a reputation for being a snitch. She is close with Mariano's sisters and brothers, though. Her favorite parent is Félix, and her favorite sibling is Antonio (Camilo's not offended, as Antonio is also his favorite sibling). Her favorite cousin is Isa. Her favorite kid is Andrés, and she is not subtle about it.
Luisa: She never really had a lot of time for friends pre-Encanto movie, so all of her friends were made post-Encanto. She's kind of socially awkward, like her dad, so she doesn't have a lot of them. Her favorite parent is Augustín (I loved their few interactions in canon) but she refuses to have a favorite sibling. Her favorite cousin is Antonio though. Her favorite child is Zoe, just because she gives her less heart attacks than the twins.
Camilo: He had tons of friends pre-Encanto, but lost quite a few of them when he started using his gift less. He made some more (including his future husband) when the city joined the village, though. His favorite parent is Pepa (Mama's boy Camilo is sacred to me). His favorite sibling is Antonio, and his favorite cousin is Mirabel. Everyone thinks that Camilo's favorite kid would be José or Héctor, but it's actually Hugo.
Mirabel: She has a little friend group, mainly consisting of the older siblings of the Encanto's children and Mariano's family. Her favorite parent is Julieta, favorite sibling is Isabela (now, anyway) and her favorite cousin is obviously Antonio (cue offended Camilo noises). She tries not to have favorites, but she can't help but sympathize with Óscar.
Antonio: He's friends with Little Alejandra, Juancho, Cecilia, and some of the other kids in town. His favorite parent is Félix, but he doesn't have favorite siblings. His favorite cousin is Mirabel.
For the next gen, I already put who they like best from each generation in their profiles, so I just copied those from them. (because I got lazy)
Miranda: She is very popular with the Encanto's kids, as she likes to babysit them. Her favorite parent is Alejandra, just because she knows how much she's sacrificed for her. She doesn't have a favorite sibling, she loves Amelia and Sofia equally. Her favorite cousin is Antonio, over their shared love of animals, and her favorite second cousin is Héctor, because he always sticks to her while they do their chores.
Amelia: She has many, many friends in the village, including her girlfriend, Rosana. She doesn't have a favorite parent, but Miranda is her favorite sister. Her favorite cousin is Camilo, due to their shared love of performing, and her favorite second cousin is Princesa, because they both are more girly.
Sofía: She doesn't have many friends due to her gift, but she hangs out with her crush, Tristán, and his little friend group. Her favorite parent is Bruno, since they're so similar, and her favorite sister is Miranda, since she doesn't think Amelia likes her very much. Her favorite cousin is Dolores, as they like to be quiet together. Her favorite second cousin is Óscar, as they like to bitch to each other all the time.
Princesa: She is very popular in the Encanto, mainly due to her gift, which makes a lot of her 'friends' flaky, at best. Her favorite sister is Mariana, due to her being afraid of Fuega. Her favorite of the grandkid generation is Mirabel, over their shared love of sewing and embrodery, and her favorite cousin is Beatriz, because they like to gossip to each other.
Fuega: She doesn't have many friends, mainly due to her gift. She does hang out with Felicidad and her friends, though. Her favorite sister is Mariana, due to Princesa being afraid of her. Her favorite pf the grandkid generation is Luisa, because she's tough and Fuega isn't afraid to burn her, and her favorite cousin is Andrés, because he helped her and Felicidad get together.
Mariana: She is popular in the Encanto, mainly with the younger kids. She doesn't have a favorite sister, she loves them both equally. Her favorite of the grandkid generation is Mirabel, because they are VERY much alike, and her favorite cousin is Rómulo, because they like to do crazy stunts with their powers together.
Leta: She is popular in the Encanto, in part due to her gift. She doesn't have a favorite sibling, though many would argue that it's Carlos. Her favorite of the grandkid generation is Luisa, because they are VERY much alike, and her favorite cousin is Lidia, because they like to wrestle and be idiots together.
Andrés: He has almost zero friends, due to his shyness. His favorite sibling(s) is the twins, just because they're so cute. His favorite of the grandkid generation is Antonio, due to their shared quietness, and his favorite cousin is Fuega, mainly because they just match well. Firey anger and quiet shyness.
Carlos: As the resident black market dealer, he is very, very, very popular in the Encanto, especially with the younger kids. His favorite sibling is easily Leta, though the twins are a close second. His favorite of the grandkid generation is Camilo, because. Obviously, and his favorite cousin is José, because they're like two peas in a pod, despite the age difference.
Avila: She is mildly popular in the Encanto, despite her odd gift. Her favorite sibling is Carlos, because he gives her free stuff. Her favorite of the grandkid generation is Antonio, because ANIMALS, and her favorite cousin is Héctor, because they like to play futbol together.
Amada: She is pretty popular in the Encanto, along with her twin. Her favorite sibling is Carlos, because he gives her free stuff. Her favorite of the grandkid generation is Isabela, because FLOWERS, and her favorite cousin is Tomás, because they like to watch each other do tricks with their powers.
Tomás: He is pretty popular in the Encanto, along with his twin. His favorite sibling is Zoe, because he and Rómulo are both in agreement that she is their favorite. His favorite of the grandkid generation is Isabela, since he likes all her weird plants, and his favorite cousin is José, because they both like playing mind games (of a different kind, but still)
Rómulo: He is pretty popular in the Encanto, along with his twin. His favorite sibling is Zoe, because he and Tomás are both in agreement that she is their favorite. His favorite of the grandkid generation is Antonio, since he lets Parce and the other big cats race him, and his favorite cousin is Mariana, because they like to do crazy stunts with their powers together.
Zoe: She doesn't have many friends, mainly due to her gift. She doesn't have a favorite between her brothers. Her favorite of the grandkid generation is Isabela, because she loves her bright dresses and plants, and her favorite cousin is Hugo, because of all his buggy friends.
Hugo: He doesn't have many friends, mainly due to autism. He doesn't have a favorite between his brothers (it's Héctor). His favorite of the grandkid generation is Dolores, because they're both quiet, and his favorite cousin is Zoe, because she is adorable.
José: He is unpopular with adults, but popular with the kids. He doesn't actually have a favorite of his brothers. His favorite of the grandkid generation is Isabela, because she kinda sorta encourages his gambling, and his favorite cousin is Carlos, because they're like two peas in a pod, despite the age difference.
Héctor: He is pretty popular in the Encanto, mainly because of his gift. His favorite sibling is Hugo, because he looks up to him. His favorite of the grandkid generation is Antonio, since their gifts are similar, and his favorite cousin is Miranda, because she acts so kind and motherly to him.
Óscar: He has almost zero friends, due to his scary gift. He doesn't have a favorite of his sisters, he loves them both. His favorite of the grandkid generation is Dolores, due to their shared...odd quirks, and his favorite cousin is Sofía, because they like to bitch to each other. He acts more like a protective older brother to Sofía.
Beatriz: She is mildly popular in the Encanto, but her gift stops her from being truly liked. She has no favorite sibling (for real). Her favorite of the grandkid generation is Dolores, because their gifts and the reaction their gifts get are similar, and her favorite cousin is Amelia, because they like to dance and sing together.
Lidia: She is pretty popular in the Encanto, although some of the adults are nervous at her behavior. Her favorite sibling is Óscar, and Beatriz is slightly bitter about it. Her favorite of the grandkid generation is Luisa, because they both act tough, and her favorite cousin is Leta, because they like to wrestle and be idiots together.

Someday and soon I'll make you proud of your boy, Though I can't make myself taller Or smarter or handsome or wise,
I'll do my best, what else can I do? Since I wasn't born perfect like Dad or you, Mom, I will try to Try hard to make you Proud of your boy…
Doesn’t this unused song for “Aladdin” surprisingly fit Bruno and what could’ve been his sentiments while being raised as Madrigal?
This is another experiment with color inversion, drawn traditionally in complementary colors, scanned and then inverted digitally.

Marisol Rivera Madrigal Headcanons;
Tumblr media
Her full name is Marisol Carmela Victoria Rivera Madrigal.
She is eleven years old by d3 and a triplet (the other 2/3s are named Marcelo and Mariana Rivera Madrigal).
She has two younger sisters who are five and six respectively named Renata and Vera.
She has the gift of Geokinesis (aka Earth Bending).
She is the oldest daughter of Miguel Rivera and Mirabel Madrigal (the oldest triplet by three minutes).
She has her father's skin tone (she's a bit darker than her mom) when she's older with short choppy black hair and dark brown eyes. Has scars on her feet from accidents with her gift and one under her hair from dropping a ton of rocks on her hair.
She's been told that she looks like her tía Isabela, her bisabuela Alma, and her parental great-great-great grandmother, Imelda. Which considering she gets along with the three of them the best (or imagines she would in the case of Imelda), she takes enormous pride in.
She's also been told she has her father's smile.
Her birthday is October 25th—making Marcelo, Mariana, and her all Scorpios.
Marisol thinks astrology and astronomy are interesting. She also really likes Antonio, Bruno, and Isabela's rooms because she thinks they're cool.
The eleven year old also really loves bows and insists that bows are cool.
Her favorite colors are pink, green, light blue, and white. But mainly pink.
She, however, despises the color ‘yellow’.
Marisol's favorite aunt is Isabela and she doesn't even try to hide it.
While she says that she doesn't have a favorite holiday because it's ‘childish’, her favorite holiday is actually Ancestry Day. It's Marisol’s favorite because she loves learning about her family history.
Marisol has helped Marcelo write down his recipes and has made a little book about their family with him and Mariana as practice for when they’re grown ups (since she and Mariana both want to work with books when they're older).
Marisol is a student at the Encanto's only public school for now but fully intends on intending Auradon Prep or another school outside of the Encanto once she's old enough.
She wants to go to college like her primas Princesa and Elmira.
Her choice of school currently is Sherwood University.
Marisol also enjoys writing and reading and really wants to be an author, narrator, or professional audiobook reader when she grows up. Though she'd settle for a director or a script writer if she couldn't have any of her top three picks.
She's really insecure about how her voice sounds.
She collects rocks.
She pretends that she gets dragged into her siblings and cousins’ shenanigans but the truth is she causes just as many shenanigans and is just better at hiding it.
Casita adores her and the rest of her siblings the most out of her generation, but she is the clear favorite since Casita will help her sneak out occasionally (as shown below in the concept art).
Tumblr media
Marisol is fascinated by Isabela's creations—her potato people especially—and plays with them often.
Bruno is her favorite great uncle because he tells the best stories and he lets her play with his rats.
Marisol (as shown in this concept art) often reads out stories for the potato people and Bruno's rats to act out…. It's gotten out of hand more times than she'd like to admit it.
Tumblr media
Despite the fact that her siblings often annoy her with their refusal to ‘act like adults’, Marcelo and Mariana are her clear favorites in the sibling category.
Belinda is her favorite cousin because ‘they are the only ones who know how to act like adults’.
Marisol desperately wants to be seen as mature and responsible, because she wants to be treated as an adult (aka grow up too soon). She actually matures as she gets older though and stops putting too much emphasis on it.
She is single and uninterested in romance currently, and Barbara Hood, Maria Hood, Gronosis of Camelot, Garanwyn of Camelot, and Tulip Rossi.
Also it should be noted that if you have a problem with Marisol's siblings or cousins (especially Marcelo and Mariana), then you have a problem with her because she will absolutely not be friends with someone who shit talks her family in more than a friendly manner. Only she can be mean to her family, thank you very much.
Marisol has been described as easily annoyed/irritable, independent, solemn, sneaky, introverted, well-mannered, curious, rational, and clever. But she's also been described as brave, creative, graceful, imaginative, and intuitive.
She can also be really insecure and paranoid, though she tries not to show it.
Marisol has a pet groundhog that Antonio gave her named Clover. She adores him.
She also has a worm and ant farm. Yes, she's named all of them individually.
The bow Marisol is seen constantly wearing was a gift from Isabela.
The eleven year old once refused to believe that Santa Claus was real for three years until she and her siblings saw him with their very own eyes.
She also used to be really jealous of Mariana because she thought that since she was named after Isabela, that meant Mariana was Isabela's favorite and not her (spoiler: Mariana is not Isabela's favorite).
Her favorite animals are dogs, worms, ants, moles, and groundhogs.
She destress-es by taking long bubble baths.
Tumblr media
Her favorite band is The Dragon Slayers and her favorite song of theirs is ‘Take Back The Knight’: she has their band poster in their room.
Her second favorite musician is Celia Cruz and her third favorite is a tie between Mirabel Madrigal, Hector Rivera, and Miguel Rivera but if anyone asks her she’ll say that her parents are her first favorite because she doesn’t want to hurt their feelings.
Marisol is not very interested in video games but occasionally plays them when her siblings, cousins, and friends bug her enough—her favorite of these games is ‘Plants Vs. Dragons’.
Marisol won’t admit it but she’s terrified of dragons.
Her favorite movie is ‘Spookley the Square Pumpkin’.
She is subscribed to some of the Auradon magazines (Dolores and Isabela got her hooked on them)—Royal Digest, Vanity Fairy, and National Aristocratic in particular.
Marisol is up to date on all of the gossip at Auradon Prep and other schools because her cousins tell her everything (that’s age appropriate). They’ve also given her articles from the school and she is absolutely enamoured with the mystery of the ‘lunchroom stalker’ (whoever recorded the footage in the cafeteria) and insists that it was either Lonnie or Jordan.
Her favorite vk is Evie and her least favorite is Mal. Not because of anything she’s done, she’s just scared because Mal can turn into a dragon.
This has backfired because they told her about the Madam Mim Dragon Incident and the Maleficent Dragon Incident, which only made her more scared of them.
Everyone thinks that Mariana was the worst of the triplets when they were toddlers but if anyone were to ask Mirabel and Miguel they would actually point out that it was Marisol, who all the adults remember as a little terror (seen here).
Tumblr media
She often sits in her windowsill to read.
When Marisol gets stressed/has a breakdown, the plants in her room start dying and she is unable to remove any of her books from their shelves because they grow longer the more she tries. Sometimes books even fly with the aim to hit someone when she's overwhelmed instead of just floating to her as they usually do (as shown below).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She has a lantern that uses to get around her room and Casita at night.
Tumblr media
As seen by Bruno in a vision, this is what she looks up as an adult (as shown below).
Tumblr media
The eleven year old has told Marcelo that she will, under no circumstances, ever try the isle food because it will likely kill her due to how health code violations aren’t a thing over there—and she’s also recommended he not try it either. This caused many arguments between the two and Mariana, who of course, had her own opinion.
She also refuses to put any of the hair care products or potions /medicines from there anywhere on or in her person without testing it on something first because she claims it’s risky.
The earth bender wants to have social media (mainly InsyaRoyal) so badly but her parents refuse to allow it until she’s at least the age Mirabel was when Casita fell, much to her disappointment. They let her watch Auratube though.
Her favorite channel in Auradon is Fairy Planet and her favorite Auradon shows are ‘Little Dwarves, Big Giants’ and ‘Aurora The Explorer.’ She also likes ‘Auradon’s Classiest Home Videos’ but she can’t stand ‘The Young And The Crownless’.
She also secretly likes ‘Real Princesses Of Charmingsville’ but can’t really be open about that because technically she’s not allowed to be watching it (Isabela and Dolores both let her watch it).
She has a stuffed rat that her mom made her as a baby that she named ‘Pinkie’.
Jordan is her favorite Auratuber.
Her favorite food that Julieta makes is “Make Your Family Proud” Sticky Rice Arroz atollado (which is Julieta’s favorite food too) and her favorite dessert she makes is Guava and Cheese Mini Bites Bocadillo Con Queso. Her favorite drink is Passion Fruit Butterfly Bliss.
Marisol has been nicknamed Mari, Sol, little earth, little soil, Rompetierras, Pequeña rompehielos, and little earth shaker. Depending on who is calling her what, she may or may not respond.
Her favorite place to visit in Auradon is ‘Mad For Tea’.
Marisol was so scared during her gift ceremony that Isabela gave her a flower to give her courage after she slipped away from her parents.
Mariana and Marisol can out argue Isabela and Mirabel, much to everyone’s displeasure.
No one can out argue a Madrigal—even if they're eleven (aka Marisol).
Eventually Marisol gets green and pink, round rimmed glasses that are much like her mother’s when she gets older.
When asked which parent she gets along with better she just shrugs and says she gets along with them both fine enough.
Marisol’s favorite flower is the same as her mother—a daisy.
She works really hard to do well in school but struggles because she has undiagnosed Dysgraphia that she doesn’t want to bother her family with since they’re busy with her cousin and sibling’s (and the adults’) own issues.
Marisol wants to be just like her Tía Isabela, Bisabuela Alma, and her great-great-great grandmother, Imelda, when she grows up.
Her favorite Auradon play is ‘The Old Stand’.
Her door depicts Marisol standing on a floating piece of earth, rocks floating all around her as she examines them.
Her room has a secret passage that leads to several different places... including the kitchen cabinets. It is hidden in a stone wall behind the stone outline of a stone door with an eye on it that she bended into the door (there are other stone carvings on this wall too).
There is a hole in the door outline. When Marisol sticks her makeshift door knob in it, it opens the passage up and allows or her to go through it. It also leads to Bruno's place behind the walls.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Marisol's bed is suspended off the ground by vines and looks a lot like Isabela's bed, but with dark pink and white vertically striped sheets.
Tumblr media
Also Casita has done the above to Marisol. But only once because actually no one was happy with her for doing that.
Her room is a wide expanse full of earth and plant life with stone structures like statues, benches, and bridges, but it is not entirely that. There is a little area that is much like a regular room with mint green wallpaper and a wooden floor that is decorated with plants. It has a little area that holds her rock collection on one wall, a wooden stand that holds a tv, a recorder player, and a radio. On another wall, there is a floral writer’s desk where her writing supplies and laptop rest.
Tumblr media
She has a little statue there as well so she can practice the instruments she wants to play. Beside that is a closet that holds her close and the hidden chest in which she hides her ‘baby’ stuff (aka her stuffed animals and blankie).
Marisol’s walls are decorated with posters, family photos, and drawings.
She also has a wide collection of books and a white board for her to brainstorm on—she also has a circular window that she can sit on above her book cases. It has a stained picture of earth on it. Furthur in her room is another window in which she tends to sneak out of that is big enough for her to easily slip out of.
The other kids absolutely know that Marisol sneaks out and are sitting on that information for if they ever need a 'get out of jail' card.
Mirabel and Miguel would never say this but they wish she'd stop trying to grow up too fast.
Marisol sometimes feels sad that she's not Vera or Renata's favorite sibling but would deny it if asked (Marcelo is Renata's favorite and Mariana is Vera's favorite older sibling).
Marisol’s favorite candy is fairy bubble gum but she has to sneak it because Alma banned it from the house after it nearly caused Marisol to float off when she was six. Her second favorite is Chocolates Madrigal.
Her favorite book is a tie between ‘The Tales of Flynnigan Ryder’ and ‘The Little Earth Shaker’.
She's read all of the Fotogramas magazines.

Remember that au where all the adults disappeared? How about a reverse version?
Tumblr media
The youngest in the madrigal family is Antonio...you already know how that's about to go. Not to mention all the other kids are missing too.
Pepa is on hurricane and storm patrol as she searches high and low for her baby.
Dolores is hearing cries and shouting all day long while SHE is crying and panicking herself. The fact that she can't hear Antonio, or any child at all for that matter, is making it worse.
Mirabel is secretly blaming herself because she remembers leaving him in the nursery to sleep before he disappeared. She can't stop crying either. (The au takes place two months before his ceremony)
Camilo and Felix are in panic mode too. It's hard to comfort someone else when you aren't in the right head space yourself. Plus, on Camilo's side, he knows most of the village children personally, so he's worried about them too.
Alma is trying her best to lead the people but she's just as scared and worried for her grandson. She's organizing searches all around the Encanto but to no trace of any child is seen. Agustin and Julieta are helping the search parties as well.
Julie keeps a basket of arepas on her in case a parent/guardian gets hurt on the search. Which is frequent seeing as they are mostly in the jungle searching for kids.
Luisa and Isabela are out helping where they can, but they aren't sure what to do either. One of their own is missing and it's making them distraught and worried.
Bruno heard about everything and decided to finally come out to have a vision. He doesn't know his sabrino all too well, but he's still scared for him.
Every parent, older sibling (s), and guardians in Encanto are losing their minds as they endlessly search for the kids. Some travelling VERY deep into the jungle but of course, no traces of children anywhere.
OOOOOR
Same thing happens except I added Mirabel and Camilo into the missing bunch of kids. Both are twelve and Antonio is two. All they know is that they were asleep and now they are on what they assume is a different planet with a bunch of older kids their age...and weird looking aliens overseeing them. I kind of what this to lead into the "Indomitable human spirit" thing that's going around. Angry parents and siblings on earth who want their kids back and angry kids on a random planet who want to go back home.
In other words, Camilo and Mirabel (among probably billions of other children), will be throwing some hands with aliens.
I don't know what to call this au...the only thing I got was "Indomitable kid spirit" I guess, 'cause the 'twins' are not in the mood for any of what's happening, and they want to go home. Antonio is here for the ride but wants to go home too.
Honestly rocking with the second idea. Mostly because I wanna see Camilo and Mirabel brawling against aliens. With Antonio strapped to Camilo having the time of his life. That it such a funny visual 💀💀

K, but I want to know about all the WIPs you mentioned! But I shall settle for asking about Incomplete Madrigal and Kindergarten Casita - the last one sounds absolutely adorable.
Awwww thank you!!!
I had to actually stop myself from posting everything I have on these two wips lol I've got to chill, I don't want to post their most exciting parts and then not have enough motivation to finish them!
Okay okay okay look, let's start with
Kindergarten Casita
Somewhere in the city N there is a "magical" kindergarten Casita - according to rumors, its pupils joyfully run here in the morning, and the walls of the old building sing. Its new head, Señorita Daniela, is trying her best to justify the faint hopes of her deceased mother, the previous head of Casita, Señora Maria. The new kindergarten teacher, Señor Bruno, is trying to help her with this.
Honestly, with this title I could've imagined a couple of more obvious AUs 1. Where all the kids are of the same (or close) age, and Casita itself is like a kindergarten; 2. Where Alma is the head of a kindergarten and the triplets are teachers.
That sounds hella cute and I haven't yet encountered similar AUs but! I wasn't able to come up with plots for these AUs so that's not what Kindergarten Casita's about.
That's a really specific AU catering to me only and my love for soppy melodramas I watch with my grandma. It doesn't happen in the Encanto setting but actually somewhere else, closer to where I live and sometime more modern, circa 2000.
All the original characters are present in the story though not all of them are relatives. I actually like what I've come up with for each of them - both design-wise and personality-wise. Though, I'm writing it in my native language so it'll be a bit challenging to finish I guess
And it's a romantic comedy, of course, at least I try to make it funny and romantic lol
And here's a couple of paragraphs I really like:
Returning to her office, Daniela found a short man in front of the door, pacing back and forth with his head down and muttering to himself. His long hair hung down covering his face. Under a long green autumn jacket, he was wearing an almost ironed gray shirt that had most likely once been white, and long brown trousers, one of the legs of which almost reached the floor. He had a bulky brown messenger bag slung over his shoulder. Having rolled up the sleeves of his jacket, he nervously fiddled with the sleeve of his shirt, buttoning and then unbuttoning the cuff. Since Daniela knew all the parents of her pupils, she could say with certainty that pacing in front of her was none other than the new candidate for the vacant position of the kindergarten teacher, whom she had made an appointment with yesterday, Señor Bruno Madrigal. His appearance perfectly matched his agitated tone of voice that she had heard on the phone recently.
Incomplete Madrigal
(honestly, I fully expected this name to be already taken but I was pleasantly surprised. I'm keeping it and never letting go)
Mirabel is determined to bring Bruno and his wife back into family after seeing an almost disastrous way their guilt affects Casita on Antonio's birthday. Surely, if they get accepted back Casita won't suffer anymore. Right?
So yeah, it's an AU where Bruno has a wife but he doesn't stay in Casita and instead moves out.
This wip makes me suffer immensely - I want to make it fun and goofy but all that comes out of it seems like a weak parody of the original movie. I think I will have to try to go in a different direction, but I will not give up ☝️☝️☝️
And here's a couple of paragraphs I like:
You would think that the family of the Encanto matriarch’s only son would live right beside Casita. Maybe, it would even take a less than a minute walk to get to them. Because, you know, they are family. They need to be near to be able to help each other when in need, to visit each other and spend time at one another’s house. It would make sense to live close, right? Apparently, no. Mirabel fought every fiber of her being not to curse as she sprinted through the town’s labyrinth trying to find Bruno’s house. The villagers either didn’t want to give her any directions or their directions were misleading and she would eventually find herself in front of a wrong house. She regretted not asking Bruno or Daniela for directions yesterday before they fled Casita embarrassing her in front of everyone. They at least owed her that.
Thank you again for asking me about my wips!!

@windsson (plotted starter)
Life in the Encanto had been quite different for everyone since the gap in the mountains had opened up. Knowledge of the once-isolated community had proven to spread rather quickly once its citizens became free to explore and conduct business out in the world that lay beyond its borders.
As such, the tiny village found itself receiving newcomers more often than ever-- and no longer were they just desperate refugees who always happened to stumble across the valley in their greatest times of need. No, they were visitors from all sorts of faraway places and unique walks of life, most of them traveling there out of curiosity towards the place that had somehow managed to keep itself off of any map for just over five decades.
Some of them, however, came in search any truth to the tales about a place of miracles and magic.
Although all the members of la familia Madrigal were expected to assist any person in the town's limits, visitor or otherwise, Bruno had largely tried to keep his distance from most of these strangers unless specifically requested to help. He had always felt extra awkward around people he didn't know too well, anyway, and the absolute last thing he needed was to somehow trigger the local rumor mill into once again soiling his not-yet-completely-clean reputation with those outside of his family. However, as much as he wanted to continue to keep himself out of the way of any potential scrutiny, he knew there was good reason for him to be at least somewhat involved in such affairs now, as the arrival of the Encanto's two most recent travelers had been heralded in one of his visions.
It had been a vision of two men, one old and one young, walking together-- with the older one rather roughly pulling the younger one along by the arm as he stumbled behind, a walking stick of some sort grasped in his free hand. ...It hadn't been either a good vision or a bad vision, per se, it had just been a vision. But even so, he knew from lots and lots of prior experience that if any person made even the smallest, briefest appearance in a vision, it meant without the shadow of a doubt that fate had something planned for them.
Upon recognizing the two men as they walked into the valley in the exact manner that he had seen in the vision just days later, he had made the decision to report what he had seen to his mother, who had in response given him the short, simple advice to "keep an eye on them," and keep her in the know of any further developments.
So, that was exactly what Bruno had been doing over the past couple of days-- keeping an eye on the young, blind man, Makani, and his father as they sought to fulfill their goal to curing Makani's condition with the help of magic food, all the while silently wondering if such a thing was even possible to accomplish. Agustín and Mirabel had both been eating Julieta's cooking for years, and it hadn't cured either of them of the need to wear their glasses, so was it really going to help someone who completely lacked sight?
Nevertheless, Julieta, ever the kind soul she was, seemed to certainly have been trying her best to make something work, and thus, Makani had been spending a great deal of time eating meals at la casa Madrigal as they slowly made their way down the list of every recipe in her repertoire. During many of these mealtimes, Bruno had been attempting to sit within earshot, never speaking but always observing and listening to what was going on in a way that he hoped wasn't too obvious. ...Well, not that Makani could see him trying to gather more information, but still.
Yes, it was nosy, but it had to be for the greater good, right? Makani and his father had to have been in the vision for a reason, and he wanted-- no, needed to know what it was.
He was currently sitting in a chair near the corner of Casita's dining room, only really half-reading the book he held in his hands. Julieta had disappeared into the kitchen to work on her daily batch of healing arepas, while Makani's father had gone off to do... something or other, leaving his blind son alone at the table to eat the rest of the soup that, like all the other food he had consumed in his time here, had seemingly failed to restore his eyesight.
A few of the floor tiles beneath the chair suddenly shifted in a familiar gesture for attention, and Bruno glanced down quizzically at them.
"...What?" he asked the house in a barely-audible whisper.
A few more tiles rolled up towards where Makani was finishing his food, followed by the floor giving another small nudge to Bruno's sitting spot. Casita spoke in a language only the Madrigals could understand, and to Bruno's trained mind, its message was clear as day. Go talk to him.
He hesitated, an all too familiar feeling of shyness washing over him. Sure, talking to the other man might've helped him in his quest to figure out what his vision had meant, but other than a passing greeting or two, he had never actually spoken to Makani before.
"...I-I can't-" He was in the process of saying when the tiles suddenly shifted hard enough to nearly knock him out of his chair.
"Ah-! Okay, okay... Geez..." Knowing he wouldn't be winning this fight, Bruno sighed as he stood up and closed his book, being sure to give the floor a quick glare before making his way over towards the table. He knew Casita only wanted the best for him and the rest of the family, but boy, could the house be pushy sometimes.
If Makani had heard his footsteps, or the soft knocks he had performed upon the wood of a nearby wall for luck before approaching, he didn't show it. Bruno was never sure how to start conversations, especially with strangers, but eventually mustered up the courage to take a deep breath and speak.
"Um... hi." he greeted softly, giving a small wave on instinct despite the fact that the gesture would go unseen. "...Er... Makani, right...?"

Lovingly leaving an Encanto AU at your door.... Instead of leaving, or while he’s trying to leave, Bruno somehow falls into a 10 year coma. I wonder if the family would talk about him more if they didn’t think he ditched them. And personally I’d make it a modern AU because more advanced medical care lol. But I want to hear your thoughts and what you’d do with it :D (This came to me because my mom was recently devouring documentaries about ppl who woke up from like 20 year comas oof)
-gvr 💚
I can relate to your mom on a spiritual level, haha! Once a random topic piques my interest there's no going back until I know everything about it (my latest medical topic was heart failure which might find its way into a future fic of mine lol).
I don't know anything about comas, though. But, yeah, I think a modern AU would be for the best... because even using Julieta's food on Bruno in the canon universe would be very, very difficult and pretty painful for everyone involved.
I couldn't help but think of the prison/modern AU I made (if anyone still remembers it) when you sent me your ask because
1. Bruno was still physically in reach for the family after their conflict
2. He had to adjust to a world that had gone on without him once his sentence was over
which sort of would be like waking up from a coma, I suppose? And yet the biggest difference I could imagine would be the feeling of guilt and shame for the Madrigals from the very start which would cause them to overcompensate and to possibly give themselves up in the process.
"How did he fall into a coma? Who takes care of him now? Can Bruno still hear and sense what's going on around him?"
The last question has so much angst potential that I'm actually too scared to think about it any longer. But in that case, I'd like to believe that the Madrigals wouldn't stop talking about and to him. 😭

Encanto: Alma Madrigal —Aesthetic
Tumblr media
Abuela's Character & Personality
Alma is a seventy-five-year-old woman who was blessed with a gift-granting Miracle Candle. She's the matriarch of the Madrigals as the mother of Julieta, Pepa, and Bruno. Alma is also the grandmother of Isabela, Dolores, Luisa, Camilo, Mirabel and Antonio. As the original source of its magic, she's even the head of the enchanted village where she resides. Being the leader, Alma is dedicated to doing what is best for her family in her eyes. She initially hoists expectations on her children and grandchildren in how they use their gifts to help the community. Due to desiring perfectionism, Alma has favoritism towards family members, not knowing the insecurity or damage it causes to other relatives. Out of all her grandchildren, she favors golden child Isabela. For sons-in-law, Alma prefers Félix over Agustín, due to judging his clumsiness and unwillingness to understand why Julieta chose him. She even keeps a tight grip on her children to make them perfect. Unintentionally, Alma is quite neglectful of Pepa due to problems with her gift. She ignores her when she needs help, criticizes her emotional tirades and pesters Pepa to keep her emotions under control instead of supporting her. Alma tries to be patient and understanding, but she feels some should step aside and do nothing without her express approval. As a result, she's quite controlling and denies there's anything wrong. In truth, Alma knows her home is in danger. She fears losing everything again, but this is something she's too afraid to share with her family. As such, Alma feels the burden of trying to preserve her family, her community, their miracle and Encanto. Unfortunately, this often causes her to assume the worst in a situation or others, including her family. Alma will even jump to conclusions without hearing people out and unfairly blame someone for everything. By only seeing the worst in someone and lashing out, she unintentionally subjects her family to pressure and misery. When Alma was young, her husband sacrificed his life to buy everyone time to escape the marauders. Losing everything in a night traumatized her. Afterward, Alma was determined to preserve what gave them a fresh start. Over time, she lost sight of what truly mattered, taking their miracle for granted, and forgot who it was for. What made their family special wasn't the magic, but in spite of tragedy, they're a family. Because of this, Alma was constantly looking outwards for a problem, yet she never looked inward. Upon realizing her family was broken because of her, despite her well-intentions, she apologized.

Encanto Oc Appreciation week two! Relationships ✨️
@encanto-extended-edition
It's my beloved sunshine trio! I finally drew all of them together (took me long enough I know)
Some more of Armida's relationships summarized below the cut 💛
(I am so terribly bad at summaries Im so sorry- If I could write out the extent of all of their relationships I would- sadly I dont have the time..)
Alma: Her relationship with Alma pre movie is strained- mostly because she fears the older woman. Armida is riddled with anxiety and intrusive thoughts over what her mother in law may think of her, and often fears Alma thinks she got into the way of her daughter's relationship- or that she isn't a "real" madrigal. Basically.. it's a lot of assumptions on how Alma feels about her.. but they are not always truthful.
Armida also tends to disagree with Alma's ways. But between her being passive by nature and having a fear of speaking up, she never says anything. Rather she does her best to help by being there for other family members the best she can be.
Julieta: She was the first of the triplets that Armida became close to. Armida had visited her stand often, and at first Julieta thought the younger woman was accident prone like Agustín.. Over time it became clear that wasn't the case, but Armida was always super polite- despite lying about why she needed to be healed. She always made sure to thank Julieta - not just for healing her but for everything she does. After that it was surprisingly easy for the two of them to talk- and making friends with Julieta naturally got Armida talking to Bruno and Pepa. Although out of the triplets Armida is the least closest to Julieta now, she still feels incredibly safe with the woman. Armida is set trying to lessen Julietas work load. The only issue being- she really can't cook- all she can really do is help with preparation when needed. So instead she settles with going out to town when Julieta needs anything. It's not a lot, but it's something at the very least, and it's appreciated more than Armida will probably ever realize.
Bruno: While obviously Armida is closest with Pepa and Félix, she also shares a really close bond with Bruno. The both of them being pretty bad insomniacs, they bonded a lot over sleepless nights- She'd tell him about the stars if the sky was clear enough and he'd talk about his rat telenovelas or sometimes about his gift- and she'd comfort him. She's a fan of his telenovelas- she loves the rats, and he's actually a really good writer. She offers to help make small costumes and even jokes about background music for suspense. All and all their relationship is very cute- I like to say they are like platonic soulmates. Obviously after Bruno disappears and comes back things aren't the same.. while he was in the walls some nights she'd sit and talk with his door instead, not knowing he was actually listening. Things are a bit awkward when he comes back- Armida having a lot of feelings about him "leaving" when he hurt his family so badly, but in the end she understands his motivation.
Isabela: When Isabela was little, the girl loved getting her hands dirty. so naturally - Armida loved taking the girl out with her in her nature walks, because even at twenty seven she herself still loved to explore. It was something they bonded over, Dolores never really being as interested. But of course fell apart after Isa was pressured into being the golden child. Now they aren't nearly as close, but the both of them still remember digging for worms near Casita, or going looking for different types of plants in the jungle. Sometimes Isa still takes walks- taking the same paths they used to when she was little- when she knows no one is looking for her. It helps clear her head. Of course after the movie the two begin to grow close once more, Isa being quite excited to show off all the new plants to her supportive tía.
Dolores: I think the majority of the fandom has agreed that Dolores is a daddy's girl- and I completely agree. However she of course loves each of her parents. Mida specifically doted a lot on her when she was younger- having been their first child. She'd often sing to her- writing her own little songs for her daughter. After Dolores got her gift it was a nice thing for the young girl to focus on- her mother singing. Unfortunately getting her gift, like with many of the madrigals, forced Dolores to grow up too soon. She's often a bit protective over her mother, due to things she's heard over time. Armida mostly dislikes the fact that Dolores feels the need to protect her- as she should be the one protecting her.
Little bonus- Armida despises Mariano at first. She disliked him when he was with Isa, not because she knew Isa didn't actually want to marry him (though she has suspected maybe something was up, if she had known that straight up I don't imagine she'd be able to keep quiet about it.) She's- in general- overprotective when it comes to any of the kids dating. She does, however, come around to him.
Luisa: With Luisa there isn't too much to say. Like Pepa and Félix, Armida treats each of Julieta's girls like her own kids, and Luisa is no exception. She used to read or sing to her each night as a kid, as she did with all of them. Each grandkid grew up with at least one song or story before bed, and sometimes even as adults or teenagers they still request it. But as with most of the kids, as Luisa grew up she stopped having time for things like that. Still Armida is always ready to sing or read to her once again- no matter how old she is.
Camilo: Camilo and Armida have very similar senses of humor at times, which means they make for quite the pair. The two of them sometimes pull little pranks around the house, nothing too much of course- after all she's still his mother and won't let him get away with everything, but he still gets away with more with her then he does with Félix or Pepa. Though being fifteen he doesn't spend as much time with his mom as he did at one point in his life- he still won't deny he loves her very much.
Mirabel: Pre movie, Armida would try her best to make Mirabel feel just as special as the rest of the family, but being busy and slightly stressed she could only do so much for the girl. Still, she did what she could when she could. She started to teach Mirabel embroidery after her failed gift ceremony to try to distract the little girl and make her feel better, she didn't expect her to pick up on it- but she's very proud of how far she's come. She's quite proud of the young woman in general.
Antonio: the baby of the family, he is absolutely Armida’s weakness. She has the hardest time saying no to him, much like others in the family. The fact that he looks so much like Félix really does not help- luckily Pepa and Félix are a bit better with saying no to him. She worried a lot about him, and his gift. Part of her had hoped that maybe he wouldn't get a gift, since she's seen how sometimes the gifts the family have can really feel more like curses, and he's only five- but luckily he gets a gift he really enjoys, one that she herself had wished for a lot as a child, one that doesn't seem like it will put immense amount of pressure on her baby boy. She enjoys learning what some of his animal friends are thinking, and reading them all to bed. (Sometimes she spoils some of his animals.. she can't help it)

I remember seeing something in your tags where you said you had a few ideas for episodes for the Encanto series. Do you mind sharing them with me? if you want of course. (I've already written the basic premise for seasons 1-4 but I'm happy to hear any ideas you got)
ooh of course! these are just some brainstormed thoughts nothing substantial but
- mirabel gets her new room (because we didn’t see it in the movie)
- julieta cooking with her daughters as a bonding exercise
- bruno goes out into the town with his sisters and they talk to the townspeople about everything
- mirabels having nightmares/flashbacks of casita falling on her and starts thinking there’s cracks everywhere
- antonio and Dolores doing literally anything I love them
- alma falls back into old habits but the family’s there to steer her in the right direction
- luisa gets a fun part in her room! (Based on the concept art)
- the husbands + bruno have a boys night out !
- isa and Dolores have a heart to heart when they plan to spend the day together
- camilo and Bruno put on a play for the whole community and the whole family helps!
- pepa brings bruno around to try new things since he’s missed so much
- madrigal grandkids have a sleepover
- triplets flashback to when they first get their gifts and it’s the first week of absolute CHAOS in the encanto
- day of little candles themed ep where alma and the family go to the river and alma tells them all about pedro (maybe a flashback to life before dos oruguitas)
- isabela adjusting to her new identity and the villagers still subconsciously think of her as her “perfect” version
- someones birthday and the family throw the best party ever
- mirabel and bruno reflect on what’s changed and how the future can be scary
- this one’s entirely self indulgent but mirabel goes to the local seamstress to get advice and ends up being taken on board as an assistant
- camilo and Marco get all the town kids to partake in the ultimate encanto football match
- luisa having a day off where the family do everything for her (she deserves it)
- christmas ep because why not!
- flashback to grandkids as younger for some preteen Dolores and isa moments
- antonio starts school and is super nervous and struggles a bit but he has his family for support
- mirabel not being used to having attention on her all the time and feeling like she has to live up to new expectations because she’s “the miracle” (this isn’t her being a leader or anything this is literally just her brain assuming they expect stuff from her)
- triplets bday!! (Can be from any time)
- mirabel and Antonio have a picnic
- Dolores and Mariano get a date set up for them by camilo
- madrigal sisters talk about their feelings from when mirabel went missing
- agustin and julieta have an anniversary coming up so agustin wants to make it the most special ever (shenanigans insue)
- pepa and felix go out for the night and pepa is insanely talented on the dance floor
- all the parents go away and Bruno is left to babysit
- isabela wants to make some friends after not having many due to her wanting to keep up appearances
- Dolores wants a new outfit and goes to mirabel for help
- luisa stands up to the donkey man
- julieta and alma moments
I cant think of more on the spot so if anyone wants to leave suggestions in comments!
