It's been a while since Bruno was in charge of all of the kids at one time, sure, but he's not worried. They're good kids, and he's an awesome uncle, so what could possibly go wrong?

YOUR COLOURS
Tumblr media
━─┉┈◈❖◈┈┉─━
Request:
I need any kind of soulmate AU , Bruno Madrigal X Reader
━─┉┈◈❖◈┈┉─━
When you were little, your mother told you millions of times about the day she met your father, and you, loving that story, asked her to tell it to you millions of times more.
She recounted that one day, during a walk with some friends, the wind blew away the shawl around her neck and a young beautiful boy picked it up for her, as soon as his hand touched the small piece of cloth, the silk became light blue.
Until a person finds their soulmate, their eyes can only be seen in black and white, but if one of the two predestined touches the same thing in a short amount of time, the object and the world around will slowly become colourful and their love would be strong as a mountain.
The years passed and you got tired of seeing the world only in black, white, grey and all the combinations in between.
One day, you were helping a new married couple, the Mejors, to move from their parent's house to the one their friend Luisa Madrigal had built for them.
Balancing two large boxes in your arms, you crossed the street with your field of view so limited that all you could see was cardboard and because of this one of your feet caught an uneven stone.
You were prepared for hitting the floor, but someone in front of you managed to avoid your fall and with your eyes still closed in fright, you thanked the stranger and entered the couple's house.
"Where do I put these?" You asked.
"In the bedroom, please" Mrs Mejor answered.
You placed the boxes on the floor and as you were about to leave, something caught your eyes.
The bottom box, the one you actually held in your hands was slowly changing colour, from a place grey to a light brown, the tone spreading from a handprint on one side.
"Oh Dios mio" you shrieked.
"Did something broke?" Señor Mejor told you.
"No! The box... The box is changing colour, I can see its colour!" You shouted.
"One of you saw the man that helped me before?" Saying so you walked outside but there was no one to be seen.
"Y/N, that means he is your soulmate. Do not worry, Encanto is not so big" the lady tried to cheer you up.
"I know..." You murmured.
You returned home distraught and with your head in the clouds, you had waited so long for that moment and due to an unfortunate case you were not able to see him.
Not having even eaten a single bite of your food and seeing you down in spirits, your family asked you what had happened, so you told them everything, they were happy for you but sorry that you had missed that very special moment and like Mrs Major, they were confident that you would find him again.
Laying in your bed you trashed around for a while but since sleep wouldn't come you schemed and planned how to find the mysterious man.
You thought of going to the main square and touching as many surfaces as possible hoping that passing by, your soul mate could touch them in turn in a short amount of time.
You soon discarded the idea.
So you imagined of purposely losing a shoe with your name written on it and-
"Ew, that's lame! Who goes around losing shoes without realizing it?" You grunted.
Several days later you informed your father that for the whole day, you would have to help with the decorations of the village in preparation for the Spring equinox.
"Buenos Dias, Y/N" the old lady that lived in front of your house greeted you.
"Buenos Dias señora! ¿Qué se dice de bella hoy?" You asked.
"You did not hear? Bruno Madrigal returned home!" She whispered.
"The one with precognition powers? Mama told me about him once but I was just a kid back then"
"I saw him going that way, be careful, he cause misfortune!" And she pointed the direction with one of her bony fingers.
You lined the streets with decorations and flowers of which colours you could not even imagine, helped by the only member of the Madrigals that could actually create flowers out of nowhere.
The ebb and flow of time seemed to slow to a halt, even the slow setting of the sun took you by surprise and climbing down from the ladder you were on, you saw a stranger talking with Isabela.
He was strangely fascinating and you found yourself staring at him for a few moments until you managed to disenchant yourself.
The man had long curly black hair with grey streaks and looked like he hasn't had a day of sleep in months since his prominent eyebags were impossible to ignore.
He wears a ruana two sizes bigger that has seen better days over a shirt, pants, and a pair of sandals.
"Hello! I'm Y/N, nice to meet you" you said greeting him cheerfully.
You extended your hand but looking at it he took a step backwards, staring at you in disbelief.
"You don't know me?" He demanded.
"No, that's why I'm presenting myself" You responded perplexed.
"I'm Bruno Madrigal, you certainly have heard about me and what I am" told the man fidgeting with his oversized ruana.
"I have, nevertheless, I'm glad to finally meet you" you smiled gently.
He was about to reach for your hand when a cascade of flowers dropped on your head, Bruno tried to catch them but they just brushed his fingers.
"I'm so sorry," Isabella said sincerely "one of the big flower decorations just broke right above you!"
"I'm fine! No need to worry " you laughed but Bruno was walking away.
The flowers on the floor became blue and bright pink, the ground became dark brown and all the rest of the world took finally colour, but as beautiful as it was you didn't care about that.
"Bruno wait!" You called after him.
"No, please. I don't know what you're seeing but there's a mistake." He blurted walking faster.
"We're seeing the same thing! Slow down!" You ran in front of him and blocked his way extending your arms wide open.
"I'm probably older than your parents, don't do this to yourself..." He tried to convince you.
"I've waited all my life for you! Now that I find you...you don't want me, do you?" Your eyes were filling with tears and your heart was hammering in your chest.
He softened a bit "You're my soulmate...I think I'm in love with you, even before you introduced yourself, actually...I've been seeing colours for days, since the time I helped you to not fall."
"You what?" It was your turn to be frightened.
"You touched my clothes, maybe you didn't realize it. Suddenly I was seeing the world as it is and...I ran away." He admitted.
"Why? Tell me why you didn't tell me about it" You implored, grabbing him weakly from his clothes.
"You are so beautiful and young...I didn't make it. I believed there was a mistake. I never had happiness so I thought I wasn't worth it. Or worth of you" he explained, looking down at his sandals.
"Worth of me? We're destined to be together from the day we were born, Bruno. Somewhere in the universe is written that you're made for me as I'm made for you" you said placing your hand on his cheeks, rubbing the skin lovingly with your thumbs "You're perfect and if you'll look into our future, you'll see me always by your side"
Bruno was positively crying at that point, hiding his face in your neck as you held him tight, he was mumbling apologies between sobs and you shushed him gently until he recovered.
"Colours are beautiful, aren't they?" He questioned letting you go and still sniffing a bit.
"Yeah, but nothing compared to you." You responded, stealing a quick peck.
Bruno reddened like a child caught with his hands in a cookie jar, so you stole another kiss but that time he reciprocated.
"I believe my family would love you" he expressed taking one of your hands in his.
You brushed a curly strand from his face, marvelled at how gorgeous were his features and the colour of his eyes.
"You know what? I want to meet them!" You informed him.
"I have to tell you, sometimes they are a bit too much" he wanted you, walking on the way home.
"They seem wonderful, just like you," you said with a laugh.
As the sun disappeared behind the high mountains of Encanto, you walked hand in hand with your soulmate and just at that moment you realized that it's not finding the right person that makes you see the colour of the world all of the sudden but love and being loved surely does.

Oh my gosh
What if Bruno left Encanto Village those 10 years ago? And at some point, he met and semi-adopted Danny?? Like they’re not dad and son, they’re two people who happen to have a big age gap just trying to survive.
I have this idea that outside Encanto Village, the magic stops working. Well, ish?? It works to conceal the village from the world, so any power that stretches beyond the surrounding mountains is brought back to do just that. That means the magic can’t follow anyone who leaves it.
Anyways, two years later, one of the mountains cracks and Mirabel comes out to cry by a river. Reunion happens, Danny meets Alma and Mirabel, blah blah blah, yada yada. Basically the Madrigals now have an unconfirmed potential member of the family who can be an absolute menace.
Like I said before, if Bruno won’t stand up to the villagers who harass and hurt him, Danny most certainly will. And that’s something Bruno wants to avoid because he knows from experience that the kid has a strong sense of justice, a lot of courage, and doesn’t listen to Bruno very much when he says not to do something.
Also he knows about his powers and his recently discovered Eldritch form, so he’ll use “young eldritch” or “young halfa” instead of always using “young man”. Or even “young prince” a few times.
So we have an old, retired prophet who’s a bit of a people pleaser and a young eldritch with a strong sense of justice.

Encanto info from Jared Bush's Q&As
This is a little place where you can find (hopefully) a lot of info Jared has said in his Q&As. This is if you wanna check smth and don't wanna go on a hunt to confirm it since it's been so long. Idk if I got everything, I highly doubt I did, so if you have a piece of info I don't have and have a link to it, I can edit it on. Ngl I'm also kinda doing this for myself cuz I was curious to know everything he's told us. I'll mostly summarize the answer so it isn't longer than it needs to be, but I'll also copy+paste if I'm too lazy.
The info here kinda varies from interesting, to obvious stuff, to potentially pointless but really any of it can be used to do whatever.
Some of the answers he provided aren't concrete solid ("I think __ would happen", "I always thought ___", etc), so take this all with a grain of salt. I'll try to phrase the uncertain ones differently so you know they're not 100% (probably, possibly, might, etc). If the answer he gives is completely up to interpretation, then I won't include it. Some might be repeated cuz I don't feel like looking back to see if he answered the same question twice.
Just to warn you guys before you click "keep reading", this is a LONG post, so if you don't want it fill up your page, don't click it unless you really wanna read everything.
Antonio's Birthday Q&A #2 (5/21/23)
Canon universe:
Dolores never truly believed Bruno was still around. She heard stuff, but everyone told her he was gone, so she thought she was imagining things. "I knew he never left" was her way of saying "I shouldn't have doubted myself."
Antonio was a shy kid and animals are were easier for him to make friends with.
The potteries in Bruno's room were because it was fairly public for people who want visions, so they're probably a nod to that.
When Pedro went to the attackers when he died, he was planning to reason with them.
Luisa's associated with donkeys because they’re beasts of burden and that’s how everyone treated her.
Mirabel has her embroidery because she loves her family, but potentially also because she subconsciously want to make sure the villagers know despite having no gift she is every bit a Madrigal.
Isabela might potentially secretly like Pepa's chaos.
Julieta's really good at hiding her feelings about the pressure of being the town's healer, but she's also a naturally strong person.
There's a reason why Bruno's single but Jared didn't tell us.
Bruno's favorite food is Ajiaco, but potentially also big butt ants.
Julieta probably noticed Mirabel wasn't in the pic at Antonio's ceremony immediately after it was taken, but Mirabel had already left by then.
For a while, Bruno's limit for future seeing was until the fall of Castia, but now it's limitless.
Alma didn't necessarily approve of Agustín at first because he wasn't overly spectacular or confident.
Mirabel and Camilo got along well when they were young, but after Mirabel's ceremony, Camilo felt more pressure to perform and show off.
Even before his gift, Bruno probably worried and wondered about the future, which is what caused his gift.
The Madrigals mostly assumed Bruno had somehow left the Encanto after his disappearance.
The birth of the miracle happened near the turn of the 20th century, and Antonio's ceremony was 50 years later.
The 5th birthdays for the Madrigals is the big one. The others are "regular".
Camilo often annoys Isabela for fun and also because he's a bit envious of her. They're kinda opposite, perfect vs a clown.
The post-movie relationship between Mirabel and Isabela is probably mischevious.
Bruno probably already was breaking from pressure when Isabela was only in single digits.
Alma was loving to all her grandchildren, but sometimes it felt conditional due to her expectations. She wasn't self-aware enough to realize.
Félix can play the tiple, but not shown in the film.
Agustín and Félix probably wore their respective colors before marrying their respective wives. Their colors are also a nod to regionality.
Alma might've seen cracks before Mirabel saw them at Antonio's ceremony (not at the moment tho), giving her a reason to actually believe Mirabel and pray to Pedro.
Based off the book "Mystery in the Rainforest", Dolores and Mariano are engaged and planning a wedding soon.
There is a school in the Encanto, but since it's closed off and was formed in the beginning of the 20th century, new info would cease.
Pedro might've been the one to know sewing and embroidery. He taught it to Alma, who taught Julieta and Mirabel. She probably taught others but Mirabel did it the most.
Bruno's door might've started glowing again during his vision in Antonio's room because Mirabel is making him feel included in the family (and therefore Casita) again.
The Madrigals do have friends groups, just not shown.
Camilo's gift can be tiring. Like an actor playing their part.
Mirabel probably would've had a negative or even traumatic impact from the fall of Castia, mostly due to a near death experience.
The Madrigals have never tested their gifts beyond the Encanto, so it's still a mystery on what happens.
Antonio probably can talk to animals from different countries, not just Colombia.
Camilo sometimes tries to impress everyone with his gift.
Mirabel's birthday became "stressful" ever since her 5th.
Isabela would probably help Antonio decorate his room with crazy plants.
Behind the scenes:
5/21 is Afro-Colombian Day, which is why that's Antonio's bday.
There used to be a deleted scene of Mirabel getting grounded by Casita.
The Guzmans originally had the same number of family members as the Madrigals, and each member was like a doppelgänger of each gifted Madrigal child, except Mirabel, who was represented in the Guzman family by a goat.
There used to be a scene where Camilo's gift goes haywire at night or smth (can't figure out the full pic for this one).
Writers considered early on that Mirabel would want to leave, but they decided that from a character and cultural perspective, leaving her family would have been the absolute worst thing she could imagine.
It's never been established how long the ceremony doors appear before the ceremony, but 9 months has been considered.
Early versions would show that Alma had strict parents. It may or may not be true now, but it would make sense.
Mirabel used to have a gap in her teeth to show her quirkiness, but was removed because they wanted to show it in other ways.
Encanto Disney+ Hollywood Bowl Q&A (12/28/22)
Cannon universe:
Emotions can sometimes affect Bruno's visions.
Camilo often helped take care of babies even before Antonio's birth. He was just naturally good with them.
The stairs in Bruno's room probably grew as he became more distanced, so they probably lessened when Casita came back.
Luisa's favorite sister is probably Mirabel.
Camilo would probably sometimes be happy that Isabela found her true self, while also a bit jealous. It depends on the moment.
The Madrigals' reaction to someone entering the Encanto would probably be chaotic.
As a way to protect them, Alma was always a little strict on her family.
Julieta and Agustín often worried how Mirabel was doing, especially for Antonio's ceremony.
Alma tried to show she loved Mirabel in her own way after her ceremony and before the movie.
Camilo's experience being the only boy in the house for a while was...interesting. Not the easiest.
Pepa and Dolores' gifts have caused some difficulties between the two.
Especially post-movie, Bruno, Agustín and Félix would be a ridiculous trio.
The candle is now gone, but a new miracle took its place.
Félix and Mirabel have a good relationship, especially post-movie.
Isabela's 5th birthday was the first gift ceremony for the grandchildren.
Bruno was probably superstitious before moving in the walls.
Before the house fell, Alma probably wouldn't like Dolores marrying Mariano. After, she'd accept it.
The other Madrigals might have hidden potential in their gifts, much like Isabela did.
The townspeople mostly either put the Madrigals on a high pedestal or see them as equals.
Isa probably had at least one flower she'd intentionally give Mirabel allergies with.
Bruno was probably a bit popular at one point.
Adopted Madrigal kids that were 6+ would probably still get a gift.
Mirabel's near-sighted.
Camilo's probably gotten in trouble for his disguises at times.
Bruno's mostly a rat guy because he's around them the most.
Pepa has a sweet tooth but doesn't let her self have too much due to her weather.
Isabela can grow trees and crops.
There's no definite reason why Isa was the favorite grandchild, but being the eldest didn't help.
When Alma said "the magic is strong, and so are the drinks", she was really trying to get everyone back to the party.
The gifts can tire out the Madrigals if used a lot, sometimes physical pain can occur.
Alma might have siblings, but it's not confirmed.
Behind the scenes:
There used to be a scene of Mirabel getting grounded. Idk if it's the same scene as the previous one mentioned, but the context of the question might suggest otherwise. ("What would've happened to Mirabel if she was found after the dinner?")
There were versions in the end credits of everyone reuniting with Bruno.
There is potential for a Madrigal with OCD, autism, etc, but not yet confirmed.
Triplet's Birthday Q&A (8/17/23)
Cannon universe:
Bruno and the grandkids now watch telenovelas together.
Julieta's favorite food is probably ajiaco.
Mirabel's first word would potentially be "sita" because she loved Casita but couldn't say the full word.
Dolores' room has a lot of soundproofing.
The reason Mirabel seems to interact with Castia the most out of the Madrigals is because she was mostly an outsider, with only Casita to talk to.
Encanto is a hidden place, so simply finding it is near impossible.
There are respected town elders in Encanto, but Alma is considered the founder.
Pedro said something to Alma before he died, potentially in Spanish, but it's not confirmed what.
In terms of personality, Mirabel is the closest to Pedro.
For adoptive kids, Casita may be able to anticipate the arrival of someone new even before the family is consciously aware of it, giving them a new door.
Bruno's a fan of chocolate.
Mirabel loves every color. She has no known favorite.
Julieta got married first between her and Pepa.
Bruno's rats aren't sentient like humans, so Bruno would have to train them to do whatever.
It's possible another Madrigal felt resentment towards Bruno after he left.
Julieta's gift possibly only works with a combo of cooking and giving, but not confirmed.
Bruno learned how to use his gift through practice and invented customs. It was complicated.
Julieta probably needs to know the person's injury before healing it.
The majority of the Madrigals' dominate hands are right. Julieta and Antonio are left handed. Luisa is ambidextrous. It's unsure, but Mirabel is potentially left handed.
Mirabel's favorite food is arepa con queso.
Antonio's favorite snack is nailed rice.
Agustín and Félix have jobs in the town, but not confirmed what.
In a book, it was mentioned that Bruno was the golden child of the family. He probably fell from that position in his late teens.
Agustín's favorite meal from Julieta is chocolate santafereño.
Gifts can possibly be repeated, but not in the same generation.
The refugees/townspeople had brought everything from home they used to start farming when the Encanto formed.
Isabela and Mariano still have a good relationship after the movie. Neither were too wild about the engagement.
The bedrooms can change if their owner wants them to.
The gift ceremonies will now be different without a candle.
Madrigals still do the traditional quinceañera.
The Encanto doesn't have electricity.
Bruno has left the walls a few times for a break.
Isabela will probably keep switching up her outfit now that she can.
Luisa has always felt protective of Mirabel.
Behind the scenes:
Casita used to have shown that it has only 1 bathroom, which was located in the back right corner under Bruno's tower.
There was a deleted scene where Julieta yelled at Alma in front of the entire town after Mirabel went missing.
Julieta is the one singing w/ Mirabel during the "constellations glow/the seasons change in turn" lyric.
There used to be a version of Bruno using water with his vision.
The line said by Mirabel, "Even in our darkest moments there's light where you least expect it" was cut after Lin Manuel Miranda wrote Dos Oruguitas and the emotional thrust of Mirabel’s words needed to evolve to encompass what she’d just learned.
There was a Waiting on a Miracle reprise that was cut because they felt they didn't need it.
The concept of a new door appearing was considered to start with the doorknob.
No one intervened during Alma and Mirabel's argument because the writers felt that it was Mirabel's moment to shine.
VERY early on, Bruno (then known as Oscar) was Mirabel's estranged cousin.
Indestructibility was a gift they wanted to use. It was actually Pepa's original gift.
Dolores' Birthday Q&A (8/31/22)
Cannon universe:
People in Isabela's position wouldn't really have the chance to have authentic relationships because they're hiding their true self. This could potentially apply to Isa herself.
Before Mirabel's ceremony, her family was excited for her. After, the family’s ability to see Mirabel clearly was too obscured by their unhealthy dynamics but were probably unaware of that until Mirabel brought it to light.
Bruno's oversized clothing was by personal preference, potentially because of his awkward nature.
Before Isabela showed up in Bruno's vision, another person was there, who is possibly a young Alma. While not confirmed, it is implied in Jared's answer.
Félix and Agustín already had gifts, just not in a way that others could see.
Isabela lets herself break the rules, so while not confirmed, it's possible she could recreate mythical plants.
The town probably functions like a combination of where everyone came from.
The triplets used to have little meetings in Bruno's room when they were little.
Behind the scenes:
There used to be a scene where Bruno revealed he had a secret elevator in his room.
Agustín's Birthday Q&A (6/19/22)
Cannon universe:
Part of what fuels the miracle is unconditional love. When Mirabel and Isa showed that during What Else can I Do?, it affected the magic.
Julieta often gives people the food they like rather than something random.
For a long time, Isabela was the favorite grandchild for Alma. Before her ceremony, Mirabel was. After Casita's rebuild, many dynamics changed.
Agustín was born in the Encanto, but his family was from a city, so he was raised with the city-vibe.
Luisa's favorite food is bandeja paisa.
Every gift can be affected by emotions in some way.
Casita probably helped Bruno hide, but not confirmed.
If Mirabel and Bruno decided to leave the Encanto after Casita fell, the entire family would've fallen apart.
The only people in the Encanto were the ones who traveled with Alma. They all got there at the same time, no one got in or out.
Behind the scenes:
There used to be an exit for Bruno's wall room behind the family tree, but it wasn't used.
Antonio's Birthday Q&A (5/21/22)
Cannon universe:
Mirabel's canonically 5'2.
Mirabel has good relationships with Pepa and Félix. Félix loves everyone and likes hanging out with pretty much anybody. Pepa is a good tia, she’s just very emotional, but for most of the movie (and her life before) felt she had to bottle her emotions which only made them worse.
Bruno probably doesn't need the sand for visions, but as time went on he added his own superstitions.
The color of the magic in the end changed. It wasn't the color of the candle anymore, but the colors of Mirabel. What that means? No one knows.
Bruno "felt" his vision cave collapsing and investigated. That's how he knew it was destroyed.
Camilo couldn't really hold a form forever because of how tiring it could be.
Mirabel did have a quinceañera.
Casita has a mind of its own with its own emotions. Sometimes it could play pranks on the Madrigals or be too upset to move anything.
Behind the scenes:
Earlier versions had a negative dynamic between Mirabel and Camilo.
The gifts are based off family archetypes. Antonio is a shy kid but opens up to animals.
Random Q&A (3/19/22)
Cannon universe:
The main reason for Mirabel and Isa's falling out was because they couldn’t see the difficulties the other was experiencing, because they were fixated on their own struggles. They were probably closer when they were younger.
Despite being shy, Antonio does have friends in the town.
Due to the triplets' bday being the same day as Pedro's death, it's a mixed day.
Pepa can try to stop natural disasters, but doesn't usually succeed.
Mirabel would sometimes have sleepovers with her sisters when they were younger. There was a deleted scene showing it.
The pink cloud scene in Surface Pressure represents the stuff Luisa wanted to do without the pressure.
Behind the scenes:
Tbh there wasn't any answers that could qualify as behind the scenes sooo... 🤷
Stuff that didn't come from Q&As but is still good info
Madrigal Birthdays (I'm not doing a link for each, just take my word for it lol):
Félix: November 11 (11/11)
Julieta, Pepa, Bruno: October 17 (10/17)
Agustín: June 19 (6/19)
Isabela: August 7 (8/7)
Dolores: August 31 (8/31)
Luisa: November 14 (11/14)
Camilo: December 28 (12/28)
Mirabel: March 6 (3/6)
Antonio: May 21 (5/21)
Madrigal ages:
Alma: 75
Julieta, Pepa, Bruno: 50
Isabela: 21
Dolores: 21
Luisa: 19
Camilo: 15
Mirabel: 15
Antonio: 5
I don't believe the husbands' ages are confirmed, but Félix is confirmed to be a little older than the triplets, while Agustín is a little younger than the triplets.
Julieta is the oldest of the triplets, Pepa in the middle, and Bruno is the baby.

This is delightful! 🤣
Finally got to see Encanto this week, and as someone who works with kids under 10, I can promise you the Madrigal kids did a LOT of dumb shit with their powers growing up. And also did the usual weird kid stuff, but weirder ‘cause they have magic powers.
Please imagine the following:
Six-year-old Dolores having dinner with the family. She pauses and tilts her ear toward the window. There’s a lull in the conversation and she asks, “Mamá, what’s a quickie?”
“CAMILO! Stop pretending to be an adult so you can get alcohol!”
Julieta’s working in the kitchen. She sees Luisa running past the window at top speed, carrying a rocking horse over her head with 2-year-old Mirabel riding it. Julieta drops her pitcher running outside to stop them.
Dolores: “Mom! Camilo keeps calling me estupida!” Camilo: *inaudible* Dolores: “YOU DID TOO! I CAN HEAR YOU, ESTUPIDO!” Pepa: *thunder intensifies*
Bruno hears a commotion from the nursery and opens the door. The kids immediately freeze and stare back at him, clearly in the act of throwing fistfuls of flowers. There are flowers covering everything, petals and pollen floating to the ground. The kids are wearing sheets and pillowcases instead of clothing. Bruno closes the door.
Dolores listening to her tía’s pregnant belly with wide eyes and describing all the sounds to Isabela and Luisa. Julieta asks “Why don’t you go tell your mother what her baby sounds like?” and Dolores replies “I did. She started raining.”
Two identical Antonios run up to Felix Camilo: “One of us only tells lies, the other only tells the truth.” Antonio: “Ask us only one question or you’re doomed!”
“LUISA! Put your sister down!”
Abuela sitting alone on the porch with a cup of coffee. Hears arguing from upstairs. Sighs and says “Dolores, go tell your cousins I said to stop or nobody’s getting flan tonight.”
Mirabel pretending she’s allergic to Isabela whenever she’s annoyed with her.
The adults and Dolores are sitting in the living room quietly. Dolores looks up from her book, listens for a moment, and says, “Mirabel and Camilo are going to see who can jump off the highest branch in the tree by the river.” There’s a pause, then every adult runs out of the house.
“So help me, Camilo, if you turn into a zombie to scare your brother one more time…!”
Augustín: “Okay, does anyone wanna tell me how the donkey got on the roof?” Kids: *avoid eye contact* Augustín: “Luisa?” Luisa: *covered in hay* Uh…….it was Isabela.
Dolores: “Señor Rivera is a horse.” Isabela: “No, he’s not.” Dolores: “Is too! Señora Rivera called him a pot-bellied stallion last night and asked him for a ride.” Bruno: “…have we tried earplugs yet? Like really good earplugs??”
“LUISA! Put that tree down!”
“MOOOM! Camilo’s copying me!”
Pepa and Felix give up on telling Antonio he can’t bring all of his animals to church and compromise by letting him bring only one each week.
The kids lose Mirabel playing hide-and-seek outside and because she’s the oldest, Isabela has to go inside and tell all the adults and she opens that announcement with “Hey, uh…remember Mirabel?”

~ When exactly did you meet Bruno?  You don't remember exactly. From a young age, you ran around town with him and his sisters. There were tons of you everywhere.
~ You spent a lot of time in the meadow, making wreaths, collecting bouquets or building castles out of sticks and dirt.
~ You also liked to play marbles in the town square.
~ One day, you were overcome with doubt. One of the kids at kindergarten accused you of having no powers and said you didn't fit in with the Madrigal siblings. Bruno overheard everything, then assured you that you were great without it. Right after that, he said something about how he himself would like to get rid of his ability. What he meant didn't sink in too quickly.
~ It wasn't until you were a teenager that you noticed how some people treated him. Over time, there were more and more of them. Scared and blaming him for prophecies that he had no influence over. You hated this blatant injustice. You often stood up for Bruno. He usually tried to drag you away from a given place as quickly as possible, afraid that the town would think badly of you.
~ You once asked him for a prophecy. He performed the entire ritual but after watching it, he wouldn't tell you what was in it. You didn't bring it up again because you knew how stressed he was about everything related to these matters, although you were very curious about what he saw.
~ You already had a crush on him back then but you knew there was no way he would notice. You tried to drop small hints but they all seemed to flash before his eyes and after a while you gave up, content with your friendship.
~ When he disappeared, you were devastated. You couldn't understand why his family hadn't searched for him. Julieta and Pepa had tried but their obedience to their mother had dampened their enthusiasm. They had helped you as much as they could, though. You made posters at night. People quickly began to see you as a weirdo when you stubbornly refused to give up on your investigation.
~ You met Bruno again when you came to help rebuild Encanto. You didn't like going back to his house since your rather loudly reported fight with Abuela Madrigal. You had said a few hurtful words to her ten years ago but you didn't regret it. You forced yourself, however, and weren't ready for the shock. The fact that Bruno had lived next door for so many years and hadn't given you even a sign hurt a lot.
~ You had a very, very long night talk to make up for lost time and figure everything out. It took you a few days to digest all the information. After that, many things were like old times again. The first thing you did was take all siblings to the meadow like you used to.
~ The man introduced you to his new friends – rats. A bit unusual but it quickly turned out that they were anything but ordinary. They can do tricks and with Antonio's help you can even talk to them.
~ Your relationship became colourful when Bruno asked you to dance at one of the fiestas. He resisted with his legs and arms but Isabela and Mirabel threatened that if he didn't do it himself, they would drag him by force and ask you themselves. The poor guy stuttered a lot but seeing your happy face, he decided it was worth it.
~ You took him to the city shortly after. He was afraid of this visit but he squeezed your hand tightly and it gave him hope. You went to different places with him, helping him clear up some misunderstandings about the prophecies (and also to bring some of the townspeople to order, peering murderously from behind Bruno...).
~ In the evening, you sat on one of the white walls, admiring the colourful murals and the children playing like you used to. That's when you confessed your feelings to him. He was partially surprised. He has problems with self-confidence and it took him a while to realize that you were interested in him romantically. He shyly admitted that the vision of you that he once saw was you kissing someone. He didn't know then that it was about him, so he thought that you would really be better off without him.
~ Since you became a couple, you've spent a lot of time with the Madrigal family. Abuela apologized to you. You didn't think it would ever happen. From that moment on, everything was going well.
~ You attend a lot of family dinners that you can't get out of. Of course, your family is invited too. The more people, the better.
~ It's very easy to embarrass Bruno. One tesoro from your lips and he'll behave like a red teenager.
~ Your dates are usually very simple. Preferably in quiet places. A man will be happy to find out everything he has missed from your life over the past ten years, this also applies to your favourite shops or restaurants.
~ Lately, you've noticed that Luisa's eye is twitching a lot and that Isabela and Mirabel are giggling. Camilo and Antonio are suspiciously disappearing with their uncle for long afternoons. You've been baking cookies with Julieta while Pepa is trying hard to stifle a rainbow after you've asked if you're getting engaged. I think you've already answered your own question...

Crypted madrigals au -
I find the thought of Casita being an anti-social house hilarious. Casita gives "PISS OFF" energy so strongly that it just urges villagers to stay away from it, hence why some houses are so far away from the house.
Also, Casi functions as a labyrinth to intruders, the house thinks it’s funny too. On a regular basis, people don’t even STEP near the house, let alone come in uninvited. So, if you do find yourself inside you're in for a ride!
If you’re just a curious kid, the house will play with you for a few minutes and let you go. Casita is more friendly with youngins.
But if you’re an adult with obvious bad intentions Casita is going to have a fun time “playing” with you. And the house lets you in just because you have bad intentions, so it knows whatever it does to you, it’s justified.
The halls get longer, doors, even the none glowing ones, can’t be opened. Not to mention Casita plays tricks on your mind and makes scary obstacles for you (like in poppy playtime chapter 3 and monster house. If you didn’t know; The player that somehow didn’t cover themselves in time to not breathe in poppy gas starts to have hallucinations from the gas.)
But let’s say the gas is light orange or yellow in this au (the color of the candle A.K.A Pedro). After about 30 or 40 minutes of straight up torturing the intruder the house will shove them out. Everything they went through was basically a warning.
Just to be clear, Pedro gets a kick out of the whole thing too. He takes part in scaring people by becoming a monstrous form of himself. The gas helps the intruders see him better, which he loves. Also, you know the funny gag where the eyes in a painting follow you? Yeah he does that before he comes out the painting to chase you.
You come back in? It’s your life.
A few adults in the triplets' young adult years made the decision to intrude and they were the last. Some of those men caught glimpses of what the madrigals actually looked like and were convinced they were creatures that needed to be killed.
Something along the lines of “they’re probably just playing nice until they get close enough to hurt us”
After Casita was done playing with them they ran to the village to basically be tattle tales.
When they told the villagers what happened a small part of them did believe them. That house has always been creepy and so are the people who inhabit it.
…but there was the question of WHY they were in their house in the first place. They weren't invited by what the triplets and Alma told them. And it was a little suspicious that they wouldn’t answer why they were in their house…at 3 o’clock in the morning.
So to be fair, the house acted in defense of the people that lived there. It was a very sick and weird kind of defense but it was still defense nonetheless.
Also, the gas helps the other family members see him too so he’s more involved in their life. He does that little painting trick to chase the grandkids. No matter what age they are, they love playing tag and just having fun.
After that, those men do not receive help from any madrigal. Their spouses and children? Yes, they get help, they have nothing to do with their fathers’ stupidity. And Alma surely gave those men a good talking to to make sure they never step in their house again.
I forgot to add, the gas helps the other family members see Pedro so he’s more involved in their life. He does that little painting trick to chase the grandkids. No matter what age they are, they love playing tag and just having fun.
The kids that Camilo babysits don’t find him creepy. Is he odd? Yes, creepy? no. He’s still silly, funny, and kind. And the way he can distort his face makes them laugh.
However, he can’t laugh like a normal person. It sounds like several people are laughing at once and it’s kind of just all over the place when it comes to sound. It can go hilariously high or demonically low, no in-between.
When he tries to control it it's less weird, but it's still weird. I also like to imagine when he's not trying to hide his voice, he sounds like he has a voice box sometimes. Like everything he says is pre-recorded even when he gives instant responses.
Also, the old au with Dolores, Mirabel, and Antonio is called “Encanto cryptic duo au”
Now for ceremonies, Casita is much more jovial and overall, a happy house. But there's still a threatening feeling in there, it's as if the air is saying "Try something and you'll never be seen again"
Mirabel does have a room but no gift, not like she really needed one. She did feel bad but was told by abuela that he didn't have a gift, her abuela doesn't have a gift, and neither does her papa and Tio yet they are still special.
Seeing as she's a moth, her room is very soft and comfy. Pillows and cushions and such. Just real soft and relaxing place.
Lastly, my inspiration for Cryptid alma was slender man. Like him, she's capable of causing something called "slender sickness," with symptoms that include nausea and vomiting blood. she can induce madness and an affliction known as "scribbling in," which causes people to draw and write nonstop.
Both parents, who were so far into insanity at that point, actually confessed that they were abuser and caused their children to run away.
They confessed because they kept having hallucinations of the twins. Their "corpses" just staring at them any time of the day. She can do this to anyone by just touching them, and at the time, she "accidentally" bumped into the mother and later the father.
ANTI SOCIAL CASITA YEAHHHHH
No but it is pretty funny when you think about it. Casita isn't even anti-social to other houses, it's with people too which is INSANE 👩‍🦲 the fact that it doesn't mind kids though is cute, like it'll just play with them, whereas with adults suddenly it's a whole menace.
Like kids are talking about how fun the house is. At worst its like a haunted house, but they aren't necessarily scared. Meanwhile the adults are like??? That thing is more than just haunted.
Pedro doing the painting trick is so funny 💀 I think that, at least in the day and when Casita is up for actual visitors, Pedro's painting is covered. Sometimes, if Alma doesn't do it, the kids will go up to take off the covering at night and Pedro will scare the crap out of them and start chasing them. It's all in good fun though.
Even the triplets do it sometime, who cares if they're 50?? They can still have fun 🦀🦀 Shoot, even the husbands fall for it sometimes. The only person who has yet to fall for being scared by Pedro is Alma. Is just doesn't work on her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At least the kids aren't scared of Camilo. Anyone with two eyeballs and some brain cells could see tgere's something wrong with him but the kids? As far as they know, is strange and off appearance is just him using his gift in a funny way. Which good for him, because I'm sure he means well when it comes to younger ones, especially ones similar to Antonio in age.
And his laugh makes so much sense, including his voice in general. What if his mouth rarely ever opens?? Like his voice sort of just projects, and he doesn't actually make the effort to sound out words; he can, he just doesn't.
W Pedro for being present in the family's lives even in death. Bro was not about to give that up 🙏🙏 good on him, even if he has to use what is probably similar to the fear gas that the Scarecrow uses 🌚 at least, that's what I imagined. It just doesn't affect the Madrigals negatively. Glad Mirabel got a room, who needs a miracle when you got cryptid powers 🪕🪕
Tumblr media
Also you already know that some people steer clear of Alma even in her human form. They learned the hard way of what the aftermath is to sneaking into Casita unprompted 🥸🥸
And like she had every right, why WERE they sneaking in at that time?? Like sorry she defended herself and her family???
AND THE NAME!!! THANK YOU!! I had genuinely forgotten it 💀💀

Camilo Analysis
Bruh, who even is Camilo? He is arguably the Madrigal we get the least real characterization for, other than Teenage Boy, which is a very broad category of person. So as per usual, it helps me to get my thoughts in order if I write this stuff down.
First, Mirabel introduces Camilo through song and we right of way see him shapeshift into a young mother so he can sooth her baby while she takes a nap. That's actually a really great way to imply several things about his character (oh my god guys, this movie is so well written).
Thoughtful enough to offer a new mom a chance to rest
Comfortable caring for infants (probs helped care for Antonio?)
More patient than I would have thought, because taking care of a baby while the mother rests is not a quick and easy favor
Sort of implies that he likes kids
Then Mirabel sings he "won't stop until he makes you smile today" while he turns into multiple people and doing goofy stuff. Everybody already knows he's an entertainer at heart but I gotta add it to the list anyways.
5. Likes making people laugh
6. Plays around with his gift a lot
Moving on to Antonio's party, he's the guy greeting all the villagers by name, and he changes his energy to match each person.
7. Knows a lot of the villagers
8. Charming and personable
9. Respects his elders (kisses the old woman on the cheek)
He jokes around with Antonio, probably in an attempt to soothe his nerves, and teases his Pa. This reinforces points one, four, five and six. If this was a different list, I would talk about what it means that Camilo is clearly comfortable teasing his father, despite the seemingly stern reaction Félix has, but I digress.
He stands with Julieta while Antonio and Mirabel walk to the door, giving birth to a lot headcanons about them being especially close, and I'm going to roll with it.
10. Of his siblings, he's closest to Julieta.
Then he's very excited for Antonio as he discovers his room, it's actually the happiest we see him in the movie (other than perhaps when he's dancing in We Don't Talk About Bruno). So:
11. Supportive? Or maybe just enjoys seeing other people happy?
Plot happens, fast forward to breakfast when he pretends to be Dolores so he can get double the food. Then teases Isabela about Mariano, something he does a lot in the movie.
12. Likes food.
13. In his Little Shit era
Fast forward some more, all the way to We Don't Talk About Bruno. He absolutely kills it, and clearly enjoys the whole production. If you're like me and you headcanon that the musical numbers happen in universe then we can conclude:
13.5. Fucking loves living in a musical
And if you headcanon they don't:
14. Enjoys telling stories.
15. Probably hasn't thought through the consequences of telling everybody his Tío is a seven foot tall boogy man that feasts on screams. Which is very normal for a fifteen year old boy.
Teases Isabela about Mariano again. More plot happens. Time For Dinner. Dolores gossips to him as soon as she can, then he immediately gossips to his Pá. When Félix accidentally spits his drink onto Mariano, Camilo has to hold in a laugh. It's possible he doesn't really like Mariano, he keeps making jokes about the guy, at the very least he doesn't take him seriously. I wonder if he's the sort of guy that prefers to hang out with women?
16. Close to his sister.
17. Close to his father.
18. Shapeshifts reflexively/accidentally.
More plot. We see him try to soothe his mother.
19. Takes care of his Má. Pepa is literally unable to hide her emotions, so it would make sense that, through no real fault of her own, the kids slowly learn to take care of her as they grow up. The squeaky wheel gets the grease and all. On the flip side, the fact that sun beams come out whenever they get home from school or learn a new skill probs means the kids can never doubt that Pepa loves them. Plus, she likely has the easiest time transitioning from a parent-child relationship to a parent-adult offspring relationship of all the adults. So Camilo might be growing closer to his Má as he gets closer to adulthood.
The longer the plot goes on the less we see him. He's clearly frustrated with his gift glitching on him, but that doesn't really tell me much. It's a situation that would frustrate anyone and they don't show us how he handles those negative emotions. They also don't show us how he handles hearing the end of Mirabel's and Abuela's argument. Rude. They do show us him leaping to the candle's aid while the house crashes down around him so clearly:
20. Sees the Miracle as more important than his own safety.
The house falls, the candle goes out, in the background we hear him first remark on his gift being gone, then wonder how this will effect his little brother. We already know he enjoys using his gift, I can theorize he's made Being a Shapeshifter an important part of his identity, but all we have that's concrete is:
21: He doesn't just enjoy his gift, it is important to him.
22. Empathetic.
Mirabel runs off, resolution happens, Mirabel comes back. He is the one who cuts through the reunion to point out their house is gone, and even gets a little exasperated when he catches a bit of flack from Félix.
23. Not an optimist. Might be a pessimist, but most likely just not particularly sentimental.
For the rest of the scene he exists in a state of confusion. The hits start coming and they don't stop coming. Apparently Tío Bruno is just suddenly back now? And it kind of seems like half the family isn't surprised or asking any questions?! There's not a lot of conclusions I can draw from him being shocked and confused that Bruno just sort of appeared out of nowhere, I think most people would be. And unlike the parents or the older cousins, he doesn't have enough memories from when Bruno was around to be swept up in the joy of seeing him again. His reaction is relatable and endearing, but not very revealing.
The last character moment we get is when he tries to twirl the shovel around all fancy, almost drops it, then checks to make sure Mirabel wasn't watching. It reinforces things already mentioned, like him being showy, and wanting to entertain those around him, but also:
24. Wants to be seen as cool. Another very normal trait for a teenage boy.
It is interesting that the first person he looks at is Mirabel, I can't help but wonder if that would have been the case at the beginning of the movie. There's room for interpretation there, but regardless, by the end of the movie:
25. Respects Mirabel's opinion.

Deceiver Chapter 1 - Villain Camilo au (rewrite)
Tumblr media
TW: Some cussing
As always likes, reblogs. and comments are appreciated. Questions are fine as well.
Special thanks to @miracles-and-butterflies and @evostar for the inspiration.
Chapter 2
These past several months have been the best fun Camilo has ever had. He bonded a little more with his family and that's the best thing he could ever ask for. Pranking people with Isabela, games with Dolores & Antonio, relaxing/talking about whatever with Mirabel/Luisa, and writing stories with his new Tio Bruno. Ok, well he's not new but still.
Not only that, but he's not forced to perform or babysit some random kid anymore. Don't get him wrong, he loved performing and babysitting but...it was getting a bit much for him.
A few years after his ceremony, it became expected for him to perform. To make people laugh. So much so that people would actively seek him out in hopes for him to make them laugh.
After he turned nine, he was given children to babysit. A few cousins on his papa's side of the family. No biggie. But after that, word spread around the Encanto, and he just became the designated babysitter of the place.
2, 3, 4, sometimes six or seven kids at a time that he was forced to look after. And at the time, he couldn't refuse. The family image was on the line and wanted to make abuela the miracle proud.
So, he dealt with it. All the times he wanted to relax he had to perform to make crowds or kids happy. If you need an extra Luisa you can just go to him. He can’t mimic her build and the strength she would have without her gift to help carry or lift whatever you needed…To hell with his own relaxation.
“Hey, it's Camilo! Tell us a story,  we know you have a good one to share”
“I’ve been down lately, say something to lift my spirits”
“Say something funny, I'm so bored!”
Any time he tried to refuse he would be peer pressured into it. Or told how he was supposed to help. Sometimes he would get scolded if he said no too many times.
"You are a Madrigal for god's sake, you can't help me for a couple of hours?"
"Just take Elicia now, I'll be back in a couple of hours!"
"What's with the attitude?!"
"You watch that attitude young man, or I'll tell Alma how rude you've been."
And usually, when asked to go to a certain place, he usually has to be someone else.
"Hey, I need you to be me for a couple of hours. I do not want to go to that wedding"
"Can you be me at my sister's birthday party? I really don't want to go"
"I need you to be me and go on a date with my girlfriend. She's really been getting on my nerves lately and I just need to break"
"You're Camilo Madrigal, right? Turn into Isabela and do something funny"
Just constant pressure to be that happy go lucky town jester, doppelganger, and babysitter. Not to mention that his gift was taxing on his body. Every shift took more energy out of his body but how was he supposed to explain that? To children especially?
All the food he ate would barely even give him the energy he needed because he would be out of it two hours after breakfast or lunch.
There were days where just wanted to pass out from exhaustion, but he couldn't, you know why? Because he was Camilo Madrigal, Alma Madrigal's grandson, a bearer of the Miracle his abuelo died to give.
He was never allowed to be sad, angry, or any version of upset. Just a happy sunshine boy who would make you smile if you demanded asked him to. Camilo can’t even remember when he actually let himself feel anything besides joy.
But after the magic left...that all stopped. And even when someone tried to pin a child on him, one of his parents, sister, or primas would shoo the person away in their own way.
Things were getting so much better for him and the family as a whole. Sure...there are some issues that haven't been said on Camilo's part but...he has all the time in the world to say something right?
He has all the time in the world to tell his family that he has trouble understanding who he is. How he has trouble seeing who the person is in the mirror when he looks at it. When he looks in the mirror he’s too scared to see whether it’s himself or someone else hiding underneath.
How he still has issues letting himself feel negative emotions but…the magic isn't going to come back to distract everyone. So everything is going to go great.
-
Camilo watched as his hermanito gave Mirabel the doorknob. His smile widened and his heart swelled at the wholesome sight. As she walks up to it, they all come close.
"We see how bright you burn"
He sings with his family. He, his Hermana, and parents smiled warmly at her.
"We see how brave you've been"
"Now see yourself in turn"
Mirabel's sisters and parents do the same. Everyone in the family, including Abuela, looks at her proudly. She finally makes it up to the new family door. Tio bruno now stands beside tia julieta and tio agustin. Man, has he grown since the start of all this. Still a little skittish and scared of people but he’s genuinely trying and making progress.
All of them stay behind her, silently showing that it's her time to shine. She puts the doorknob in the hole and as soon as she does, magic sparks from it. Camilo's heart raced with fear...this isn't happening. He watched as the magic swirled around the house and all over the Encanto. Feeling the magic pulsate through his veins again.
No.
No. No. No. No. No. No! No! No!
NO!
This can't be happening right now. Not after all this time, it can't be. The magic felt agonizingly warm within his body. He never wanted to feel this warmth ever again in his entire life.
"Hola Casita!" Mirabel smiled and waved at the home.
The happy house started making music with its tiles, doors, windows, and anything else it could finally control again. With so much excitement, Casita bounced the stone floor under Mirabel and welcomed her in first.
"Come on! Get in here!"
youtube
Casita did the same for everybody and slid everyone in using the ground they stood on. The joy was ultimately infectious to everyone but Camilo. He was still trying to process what the hell was going on.
"Calm down Camilo, our gits aren't back. It's just Casita, that's all" He thought to himself as everyone was piled in. "Surely, they wouldn't come back...right?"
Boy was he wrong, one by one, gift by gift. Isabela got her flower powers, Antonio could speak to his animals, Luisa got her super strength back. Pepa was happily dancing with small bits hail over her head. Felix cheering her on as always.
That must mean...no, no no no, it didn't. It couldn't have. He's happily gift less.
But he knew his gift was back. He could feel it in his very soul. Camilo was scared, frightened even. Does this mean things will go back to how it used to be?
Was he going to be the town jester and doppelganger and babysitter again? Was he now going to constantly be told to be someone other than himself?!
No, no, he won't let that happen.
Camilo looked around at the scene. Everyone seemed so happy and jovial while he was in a state of turmoil. Milo was feeling overwhelmed. He has to make this stop. He has to-
Suddenly, the tiles under his feet moved him to the center of the courtyard. Snapping him out of his thoughts.
Wait, what's happening?! he thought as his eyes looked around confused. The family all posed as the camera was brought out and bounced over to them with a rat on top of it.
"Everyone together!" Alma said cheerfully
Huh?!
"La Familia Madri-" Everyone was cut by Casita making them all huddle in too close together. Resulting in a funny but cute family photo.
After the family broke apart a little bit, Milo was given some space to think. If you could call it that. His mind was practically racing with all those horrible memories of how things used to be.
Dolores looked at him as she heard his heart racing. To be fair, everybody's hearts were racing but she was the closest to him at the moment.
She looked at his face. He wasn't smiling. He looked perplexed to say the least...and a little scared. Which was odd, this was supposed to be a joyous moment right?
She stepped a little closer to him and put her hand on his shoulder. A small way to get his attention.
"Milo...you okay?" She asked softly and quietly, he was close enough for him to hear but quiet enough for others to barely acknowledge.
There's no candle...nothing to snuff out. Nothing to make the magic go away. It's going to happen all over again. No one is going to want me for me anymore. I have to get rid of it. GET RID OF IT! GET RID OF IT! But how?! Did Mirabel bring it back? no...wait, the doorknob...THE DOORKNOB-
"Camilo?!"
Dolores spoke a little bit louder as she nudged his shoulder. Camilo looked at her in shock and looked around. His heart was still going rapidly.
"Camilo are you alright?!" She asked him while she looked into his eyes. She saw panic in his eyes, and he wasn't saying anything...he must be having a panic attack.
Her concerned voice alerted her parents Pepa looked at her son and stepped a little closer, putting her hand on his cheek.
"Mijo, are you okay?"
Camilo finally snapped out of his thoughts "I- I uh...yeah, I'm just...shocked is all" he chuckled nervously. Which wasn't a lie, he was shocked.
"Your heart was going really fast milo, are you sure-"
"I'm sure Dolores!" Camilo answered with a slightly irritated tone. He didn't mean that. Quick idiota, change your attitude "Heh....I'm okay, I'm happy"
Ok, very odd. He was telling the truth but there was something he wasn't saying. Dolores, Pepa, and Felix could see it.
"Mijo...if there's something wrong you can say it." Felix said sincerely.
"I'm fine papa, really"
The party continued and everything was going well. Camilo joined in on the fun as well. But only to appear just as happy as everyone else was. But on the inside, he was feeling everything but happy.
"The magic is back now" a voice in his head said.
"You know what that means," Another voice said.
"Everything will go back to how it used to" another said.
"You're going to be the villages Mamita and bufón again"
"It'll all go back to everyone never wanting you, just someone who doesn't even act or look like you"
What is happening?! Where are these voices coming from...why are they saying this to me... Camilo thought to himself.
"We're saying it because it's true milo. Everything is going to go back to normal...unless you take that doorknob out of the front door of course."
This was becoming very concerning to him...but he felt like they were right. He didn't want to go back to that, he can't go back to that! He needs that doorknob gone.
When he noticed the attention wasn't on him, he snuck out to the front of the house and stood in front of the door.
It was a happy little door. It had everyone on it as a family. Cami couldn't deny that it was a sweet sight. But he wasn't really in the mood right now for sentimental value. He looked down at the doorknob, staring into it intently. It glowed so beautifully with that 'M' carved into it. Oh, how he hated it.
"Go on!"
"I can't!"
"Just take it already!"
"What if it doesn't work?"
"You want to go back to how things were? At least try it!"
Camilo internally argued with himself for a few more seconds until he reached out and gripped out. He tugged softly the first time, no budge. He tugged harder, still, it didn't budge.
“Puta madre!! Why Mirabel, WHY?! You just have to fuck everything up don’t you?!” Camilo seethed to himself. There was definitely no way of removing the magic this time. That doorknob more than likely wouldn’t budge unless Mirabel herself wanted to remove it.
He wanted to cry, he wanted to scream, to punch something ANYTHING! This isn’t fair. He can’t go back to being other people! He can’t go back to babysitting every kid in Encanto without a choice in the matter.
“I don’t even know who I am at all and it’s all their fault! Those soul sucking ungrateful villagers. I never even got a thank you for watching their kids! Never a “thank you” for pretending to be someone else for them! I'm not going to let anyone force me back into that corner, EVER! I will burn this entire encanto DOWN to the ground before that happens again!”
Camilo’s heart was racing fast as he stared at the glowing door. Those smiles were so adorable…so mocking. He looked at the glowing version of himself “drawn” onto the door. He reached up to it and touched it.
The door felt sickeningly warm to the touch. He could feel the music from inside vibrating off of it. Milo took his hand away with a scowl etched into his lips. He chuckled but there was no joy in it. Only disdain.
Before he could think anything else the door swung open and hit him straight in the face, knocking him down.
“OW!” Camilo groaned as he sat up off the ground clutching his face.
“Huh? Oh sorry Milo, I didn’t know you were there” A voice said apologetically. Camilo instantly recognized it as Isabela’s.
He looked up and saw her. She was completely covered in a variety of pollen colors but the most obvious one was dark blue. She held her hand out and Camilo begrudgingly took it. Next to her was a giddy and bouncy Antonio.
“Did you kick the door open?!” He said as he rubbed his hurt nose.
Isabela shrugged, “Yeah, lo siento. Now come on, Casita said that some of us have new additions to our gifts. Antonio wants you to try something”
Camilo looked down and was met with Antonio’s beaming face, “Cami! Dolores can turn her gift off when she wants too, that’s so cool right?! Isabela can make all kinds of plants now, even poisonous ones! I’m not sure what I or mama or Luisa can do yet but I want you to try something!”
Camilo took in all of that information and reminded himself that he wasn’t smiling, so he pretended that he was just as happy as Antonio, “Oh really? Well, what do you want me to try?”
“Try shapeshifting into animals por favor!”
Milo was taken back by that, animals? He remembered trying that once as a kid and nothing happened.
“I- I don’t know tonito-”
“Pleeeeeease!” Antonio begged with that adorable smile and big eyes. Who can say no to that
Camilo sighed and kneeled down to be at his hermanito’s level “fine, any specifics?”
“A jaguar, like Parce!” Antonio bounced with anticipation and joy.
The teen boy looked up at Isabela, who just shrugged and put a hand on her hip as she waited. He looked back down at Antonio and stood back up.
“Well…worth a shot” Camilo shrugged and closed his eyes.
Milo focused on the image of Parce in his head and breathed a deep sigh. His eyes closed and breathing calm. After ten seconds he opened his eyes. He looked at Antonio and up at Isabela, then down at the ground.
Paws…he sees paws! He tried to circle around but he would just trip over himself seeing as it’s the first time he’s walking in cat form. But that didn’t deter him at all. He was ecstatic.
“I- I did it! I turned into jaguar! I can shift into animals-”
“Pffft-” Isabela snickered and Antonio giggled at the sight. Camilo assumed it was because he was walking funny. Nope.
“You missed a spot primo!” Isabela pointed at her face
“Que?”
“Your head isn’t a jaguar head. And you have a human backside” Antonio giggled. In a quick pace, tonito asked Casita to open the front door. The house obliged and did what it was asked. Before Camilo could get a word out Antonio shouted that everyone come see Camilo in a jaguar form.
“No wait! Don’t!” Milo wasn’t a fan of his weird shifting quirks. They always acted up at the worst times and he hated it. Now was one of those times. The more he tried to shift back into any other animal or just himself he would just shift into a different animal with strange human likeness.
By the time people were outside they saw the amalgamation that was a half donkey, horse, and teenage boy. It caused people, especially his family, to laugh at this shifting quirk. It was causing him to panic and shift more uncontrollably.
He didn’t want this, he didn’t want to be the town entertainment again. Milo stopped to focus on the ground. In this form his legs looked to be a donkey's legs, horse torso, and a capybara face with his normal hands and hair.
Alma came up to him with tears in her eyes as she chuckled, “aye milo, still trying to make everyone laugh I see”
This isn’t happening right now…it couldn’t be. He wanted this to be a horrible dream but all of it felt too real to be. The laughs were so loud and annoying. His heart was beating really fast and all he could do was just look around in embarrassment.
Pepa saw the panic in his eyes and her smile quickly faded, as well as her rainbow. She quickly walked over to him. Felix noticed her expression and followed suit.
Pepa stood by him and patted his head in order to calm him down “Cami, you alright?”
Camilo looked up at her and looked back at everyone else. He was not okay. He needed to not be the center of attention right now. He tried to shift into his human form but that just caused so much more embarrassment for him.
Not to mention that all of this unorthodox shifting was hurting him. His bones and skin just shifted into so many things so many times. It was painful.
Please stop! Please stop! Please stop! Please stop! Please stop! PLEASE STOP! He thought to himself. With a final scream of frustration he finally shifted back into himself. He checked himself over. Normal hands, normal face, normal body, normal feet.
His breathing was quick and uneven. His heart beating a thousand beats per second. And…he was crying. Tears were falling down his cheeks and his body was shaking.
“Camilo” Felix looked down at his son with concern and bent down to pick him up by the arm. “Hey, hey mijo! Breath, look at me!”
The teen couldn’t hear him. In fact, Camilo could still hear and see the villagers laughing at him. Even if they weren’t anymore. The laughter got louder and louder to him, never stopping.
This frightened Camilo and he ran past all of them. Pushing and knocking over whoever he can to get inside Casita. The voices calling out to him were unheard as he rushed up Casita’s stairs and into his room.
It was still the same as it used to be. A large theater with a big stage. The only difference was that the lights were much brighter than they used to be. And they were directly on him and followed his every movement as he ran past the audience seats and on top of the stage.
He moved the curtain back and his old king sized bed was there with all of its yellow, orange, and red pillows, blankets, and sheets. On the right of his bed was a large rectangular mirror with the classic round light bulbs decorating all sides of it.
“Casita…please,” Camilo whimpered as tears fell down his cheeks. Laughter was still echoing in his head. “Make it stop!”
He covered his ears like his hermana used to when noise became too much for her.
Why is this happening to me?! I just want things to be normal! Why can’t I be normal, why can’t this family be normal?! Camilo fell to his knees and tightened his hold on his head.
Why did Mirabel have to touch that fucking doorknob! This is all her fault, her fault, her fault, HER FAULT! Everything was fine before that. My life was going to be normal and now it’s back to how it was! Those people are going to use me again…no…
Camilo’s eyes widened as he stumbled upon a thought, “Those people…those ungrateful ass people! How dare they laugh at me?! After all the turmoil I went through to make them happy…that’s how they repay me”
The teen boy chuckled, then giggled, and soon he started to laugh. Loudly and Maniacally. This was it, Camilo finally snapped.
“I’ll make them pay”
On the outside of his room, Dolores was downstairs at the kitchen table trying her best to listen in on her hermano. But she couldn’t hear anything. She did hear him crying but then it just stopped as quick as it started. The only thing she could hear was his heart beat. There was a thought that he was just doing this to get attention but Camilo would never do that.
“Do you hear anything?” Pepa asked with concern in her voice. The only reason she didn’t barge into his room is because Felix stopped her. He wanted to see him too but didn’t want to overstep a boundary.
Dolores shakes her head, “No, mama his room is soundproof”
Antonio looked up at his hermana and parents, “Is he gonna be ok?”
Felix looked down at his youngest son sympathetically, “He’ll be ok mijo, he was just uh…a little embarrassed”
“A little my ass” Pepa thought to herself as she was stroking her braid. A small gray cloud over her head.
“He was crying though” Antonio doubted and sank back into his chair a little bit.
The table went quiet as everyone went into deep thought. He looked really panicked, hurt (both physically and emotionally), and embarrassed. Most of them thought he may have been having a panic attack but Dolores informed them his heart rate has slowed down. Which was also a calming thing to know for her as well.
“If I was in his situation I would’ve cried and ran off too” Bruno admitted quietly as he fiddled with his fingers.
Camilo breathed in a deep sigh and stared at himself in the mirror. For once in a long time, Camilo saw his face staring back at him. He was sure of himself now…and knowing that put a sinister smile on his face.
He tilted his head as he noticed something…man he needed a wardrobe change.
I need a better style than this. Oh! I know Mami and Dolores would love to help me with that! Tonito and Papi would too. Milo stood up and walked away from the mirror, swiping the curtains out of his way and walked down the stage stairs.
Once he made it out of his room he closed his door lightly and leaned his back on it.  A big and chipper smile appeared on his lips. A soft and happy voice to go with it.
“Dolores, can you and Mami come upstairs please? I want a makeover”

If baby moana can do THAT
Tumblr media
How old is she her?! 10 months old at best?! I'll be nice and she's a year old but that takes real intelligence for someone so young. If she can do that, I'm sure she can weave just about anything she puts her mind to. And what if weaving was one thing Mirabel didn't know how to do/struggle with, and Moana made it her MISSION to teach her. Y'know, just as a friend...heh...nothing more.
But back to the Daycare au, I agree that it should be in a more modern setting. I also agree that it should be for the summer but mostly weekends.
Both teens are the most FAVORITE daycare attendants/babysitters of the kids (don't tell the other sitters that).
The first time the older attendants saw Mirabel they thought she had at least two cups of coffee, but Camilo was like- "No, that's just who she is"
The bags are a little but not enough to be a nuisance.
Both are fluent in ASL and SSL. Mirabel can speak basic Japanese and Camilo can speak basic French.
I don't know a lot of kids, but I've read somewhere that the best way to speak to a kid is by crouching down to their or sitting on your knees. Doing that shows you see the kid as a person and not someone to just talk down to or order around.
I can see Mirabel and Camilo doing this, especially when they see the kid having a hard time emotionally.
Both know rowdy kids are rowdy for a reason. The first step is to try to get them to calm down so the kid can explain why they are upset. 9 out of 10 times it works.
Other times the best solution is to get a little stern, not too much to scare the heck out of them, but to show them who's boss a little bit. If nothing is wrong with and the kid is just being a jerk they go to the unhappy corner.
Camilo HATES discipling the kids with a passion. Even if the punishments are very light it still hurts them. Seeing their little pouts is cute but still makes him sad.
The only kind of punishment that a bad kid will get is going to sleep early (which we all know kids can't stand) or going in the unhappy corner.
I think the most kids they should handle should be about 15 at a time, even that's a bit much.
Mirabel more than likely made stuffed animals/mochilas for kids that are frequent at the daycare. Why wouldn't she?
Both don't tolerate Karen's/disrespectful parents. It takes restraint not to tackle those people to the ground. And I have a feeling child service has been called more than once. These two don't play when it comes to kids.
These two come home covered in glitter, stickers, and marker drawings all over their clothes. Thankfully all three of those things are removable/washable.
I'll think I'll draw their uniforms; They'll have a teacher/kid core vibe to them. Mature but fun.
Also, I didn't know Mirabel's bag was called a mochila, so thanks for that.
omg wait your mind>>> moana sucking at most arts and crafts but being amazing at weaving and mirabel being amazing at arts and crafts but this is the one thing she can’t get!! I can totally see moana teaching her!! would be so cute😭 the kids are just shocked that THE art girl mirabel cant do it!? they thought she could make literally anything!
omg mirabel is absolutely that one person who’s just wired to the moon at 8am😭 nobody understands how she has so much energy even without caffeine! them knowing multiple languages is interesting! can totally see them both being really good at understanding the kids emotional needs! and as mirabel says camilo won’t stop till he makes you smile today! The unhappy corner😭😭 that sounds like a corny name only miss mirabel madrigal could come up with😭🙏 I love that! yes agreed they shouldn’t be dealing with a lot of kids as after all they’re still kids themselves! mirabel making custom plushies for them omg!! she would! she would ask what color and all! glitter absolutely EVERYWHERE!!! but they never complain! in fact I think mirabel is more obsessed with the glitter than the kids are💀and ooh yes would love to see their outfits!! and no problem! this au sounds so fun and silly!

One Autumn Night - Encanto OC Short Fiction
I started this last year, hoping to finish by Christmas, but now that I’ve got deadlines on other projects, I won’t be able to expand on it as much as I wanted to. It’ll live as a short piece ❤️
Ozzy - @thebiggestnope
Elena - @prophetic-hijinks
The Autumn celebration was still in full swing well into the late November night. Music and laughter poured from every bar room in the alleys that branched out from the plaza, and the main event in the Encanto’s town square was the star spectacle, explosive with more lively accordions and free flowing drinks among the townsfolk. Children weaved through their parents’ legs, holding up toys and sticks to chase one another, and fireworks lit up the night sky that complimented every bold and colorful skirt and ruana that danced along with their owners in the breeze.
Just off the main path, Elena Madrigal and Ozzy Pinheiro-Gomez sat on a bench near the church. The grassy knoll behind them acted as a cradle for the young lovers of the city, curled up in the arms of one another to kiss beneath the colors of the night sky.
It wasn’t that long of a time ago that both Elena and Ozzy were latecomers to the Encanto, finding their own pockets of the city to be in the arms of their beloveds. Although that night, those beloved ones were not with them on the bench, but instead at the top of a steep hill between the church and the knoll. Gustavo Pinheiro-Gomez in his wheelchair with Bruno Madrigal trying to find a way to keep secure on the back.
Elena sipped her wine while Ozzy waved back to his husband before their descent. The two then watched as their husbands screamed with either laughter or adrenaline on their way down the hill. At the last second, Bruno turned the chair to keep the two from crashing into a tree. A foot closer to their mark of trying to go between the short gap.
“One more time!” Bruno laughed, hiccuping from his drunken stupor. Gustavo meanwhile tossed back the last of his twelfth drink he managed not to spill.
“Be careful,” Elena called. She’d long since given up trying to talk him out of it. Same as Ozzy who poured her more wine from their bottle.
“Ozzy, did you see that?” Gustavo shouted. “We were this close!” He pinched his fingers together to prove his point, although it was heavily exaggerated.
“Yeah, you’ll make it this time!” Ozzy encouraged.
Bruno huffed through his laughter, pushing Gustavo in his chair back up the hill to try again. When they were out of earshot, Elena let out a snicker.
“You know, there’s days I think the two of them are joking with me about how they grew up.”
“The bullying?” Ozzy clarified.
Elena nodded. “They’re like two peas in a pod. I couldn’t imagine a world where the two of them didn’t get along.”
Ozzy nodded. “Makes me wonder if maybe Bruno looked into the future to see how the two of them would turn out.”
Elena shrugged. “Worked out for us, but I don’t think he was keen on looking into his future as a kid. That’s what he told me anyway. Besides, that’s the fun of life isn’t it? To not know how something will turn out?”
“I suppose, but the alternative would have been nice. It would have made my years with Nairo a lot better to know they were numbered, although I shouldn’t say that.” He smiled. “We had our good moments, but without that relationship, I wouldn’t have had something to compare my marriage to. I couldn’t imagine these past few years without Gus or the encanto. I guess things work out the way they’re supposed to in the grand scheme of things.”
Elena nodded, understanding to a certain degree his sentiments. “I hope Carlos is well too.”
Ozzy matched her nod of understanding, a beat of silence between them.
“So,” Ozzy started, “when are you and Bruno going to join us on our cruises?”
“Not until the kids are older. Pedro’s still a bit clingy, and Catalina’s always getting into something when we’re not around. Your vacation stories sound nice, and we appreciate the souvenirs you bring back in the meantime. When’s the next one?”
“Probably after the holidays. My patients have family visiting who will take care of their medical care while Gustavo and I are gone. It’ll be nice to relax with him a little longer.”
“We’ll check in on Anne, so Gustavo can relax too.”
“Thank you. I know it’s short notice.” He paused. “I just want to take advantage of the time. I don’t know how many good years we have left.”
“Bruno could…”
Ozzy shook his head, and Elena rubbed his arm.
In their silence, their husbands whizzed by again, finally making it through the gap before the wheels hit a rock, sending both Bruno and Gustavo flying into a nearby bush near the statue of Our Lady.

What miraculous do you think are the ideal matches for the madrigals?
Also I love your art
It depends on if you want to go by a strict gift basis or personality. Some of those aren't exclusive though-
TLDR-
Julieta- Wayzz, Alma- Nooroo or Liiri, Pepa- Daizzi/Longg, Bruno- Sass or Tikki, Felix- Diazzi, Augustin- Kalkki, Isabela- Pollen, Dolores- Longg or Barkk, Luisa- Pollen & Duusu, Camilo- Pollen, Antonio- Duusu/unclear, and Mirabel- any of them really.
Bonus Turtle Julieta who didn't make it into AVB- Her name is Hicotea
Tumblr media
Julieta for example I think would do well with the turtle both because it's the closest to her gift (since besides the ladybug there isn't a healing power) and I think she and Wayzz would get along well.
Alma would theoretically either have the butterfly (Matriarch deal) or the Ladybug and Cat. But I don't think she'd get along with any of the kwamis very well. Maybe Liiri, but she'd not here.
Pepa would power wise have the dragon, and I think in personality it fits okay. But I would personally either give her Wayzz or Daizzi. Possibly also Orikko.
Bruno would have either Fluff or Sass based on his gift and I think he'd get along with both. I also think he and Tikki would get along (hence Cochineal) and Plagg would have a similar dynamic with him that he does with Adrien, albeit less parental/familial, more platonic. I think he and Mullo would also get along.
Felix would get along with Daizzi, Ziggy, or Orikko. All three seem to thrive on holders with high energy and positive attitude
Augustin could do well with Wayzz and possible Kaalki, since she's probably help with his clumsiness through sheer determination. As well as Stompp who would go "Fuck it, lets just throw shit." I gave him Sass in AVB since I figured he'd be willing to try a million times to get it right, but its not my fist pick.
Isabela would probably do best with Pollen, both because haha Bee, but also- Pollen is a very loyal bee. She calls Isabela her queen but if her queen wants to throw color bombs and do fancy acrobatics with vines? Bravo! Keep going. I stand by the idea that Isabela and Longg could never really get along. Second choices would be Xuppu or Trixx since they'd encourage her to have fun but Trixx for sure would not let her get away with being bitchy. Tikki would also probably do her good.
Dolores could still do well with Mullo at the best of times but I'd be more inclined to give her Pollen, Longg, or Barkk. Pollen and Long would be very respectful of her sensitive hearing while still helping push her, and Barkk would bite anyone being too loud. She is very loyal. Dolores would probably also do well with Plagg for the simple fact he is high demand for food, but very apathetic the rest of the time.
Luisa would match with Roaar in terms of gifts but personality wise I think Pollen, Duusu, Kalkki, or Barkk. With I think Pollen or Duusu being the strongest two.
Camilo would match with Trixx for powers but I wasn't kidding in A Lawless Cat when I said I thought he'd make a good Bee. They're leaders and need to hold attention, but can get in a good sting if you turn your back. Other pick would be Orikko.
Antonio I think does well with the Peacock but otherwise he's a bit to young to know what other miraculous he would thrive with. His compassion would potentially also do well with the butterfly.
And now Mirabel, the character who i think has the widest picks.
Sticking to Cannon Encanto Mirabel I still think she'd have the widest variety. Obviously Nooroo is the top pick, Mirabel likes to help people but most of the time she's teaching them to help themselves first. Even to her own detriment. I think she and Tikki would thrive as two creative spirits, same with Ziggy. Her compassion and good understanding of feelings and others, would make her do well with Duusu. Plagg would encourage ehr to fight for herself, Liiri would want her to break free. Xuupu, Trixx, Orikko, and Diazzi would help her bring fun back into her life as well as spread her strengths to others. She's intuitive enough to work well with Sass, Roarr would push her to take power into her hands and be heard. Stompp would teach her to defend herself. The only kwami I think she wouldn't get on perfectly with is Longg, but even then it wouldn't be particularly bad. It's just that- Mirabel has specifically gone her whole life seeing herself as Imperfect which would strain her connection to him.

idk how often u use this blog but i LOVEEEEEEEEE luisa and esme and all the kids sm sm sm can we pls know more abt how lu and esme met 🥰🥰🥰
Omg I’m so so glad you like what I’ve made!! I’ve been on a hiatus because I’m so so busy with school n work and also some other more recent hyperfixations I’ve been getting into lol
Here’s a backstory of the two:
Luisa and Esme live in the same village so, Esme has known about Luisa pretty much her whole life, kinda like a local celebrity… same with the other Madrigals, but moreso Luisa because of how involved she is with helping people in the town. She’s been to every corner of that village.
Esme was raised in a family of French immigrants who were part of the community that ran from the pillagers along with young Alma.
Esme’s family is more on the strict side, but saw Esme’s artistic talent and allowed for her to become a local artist and funded an art studio for her. Luisa was actually one of the main people who built Esme’s art studio. Luisa was only 15, Esme was 14.
The two had some small interactions where Esme would encourage Luisa to take breaks, bring her water and such.
Past the age of fifteen and after the finishing of the construction, Esme basically never got any more interaction with Luisa, as she was completely buried in her work, which got worse year after year.
But Luisa never forgot Esme, and as soon as she got her powers and house back, she wanted to tell her about everything.
Meanwhile, Esme had become a bit of a recluse, also burying herself in her work. Not being much of an extrovert, she didn’t really make many friends or connections. She would just assist with murals in the city and churn out commission work.
One day Luisa approaches the window of Esme’s studio, startling her. Luisa is so invigorated by her strength being returned and her family going through the changes they needed. She’s glowing like never before.
She tells Esme about everything, but sees a whole other story behind Esme’s eyes. The two of them reconnect and provide each other comfort and eventually, of course, fall in love ☺️

Just a question. How the HECK did the young Madrigals even knew about their abilities? For instance, how did Bruno and Julieta even found out that they can see the future and heal people with food? How long did it even took? I get Pepa, probably a cloud or a rainbow was floating above her because of joy and excitement but Bruno and Julieta? I'm not so sure.
AND ANOTHER THING! Alma, did Casita told her that her kids were gonna get magical gifts? How would Alma knew about this?? It can, right??? WE NEED BACK STORIES FROM THE TRIPLETS TO THE NOWS TO FULLY UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING

Some hcs about the Madrigals' partners regarding trauma:
Mina only has her aunt (graunt?) Mata in her life. Her parents didn't treat her well and always favored her brother to the point where she had to flee and make a name for herself.
Mariano's dad was a deadbeat who skipped out on his mom and his siblings are all adopted. Sometimes, he worries he's like his father. He's not but he never met him, so how's he ta know?
Ryder's parents died when he was young and he barely remembers them, barely remembers their faces. He also worries about getting trapped in one place without ever being able to leave again.
Bubo's brothers and parents treated him awful and because of their lies, he wasn't treated well by many of his neighbors. Him leaving home after his grandparents died and being homeless meant he wasn't practically treated well after he left, either.
Sometimes, Miguel has nightmares about Ernesto. Others he has nightmares of his relatives experiencing 'the final death'. And early into his relationship with Mirabel, he'd be half asleep and forget that the 'no music' rule no longer exists and panicked-ly try to hide his guitar before remembering it's not needed anymore.
It's honestly interesting to think about how the Madrigals deal with their own trauma and the trauma that others bring when marrying into the family. How they deal with the trauma that they couldn't shield their kids from even though they tried.
Interesting point!
Cause yeah, one of the main themes of Encanto (and Coco tbh) is generational trauma, so it's fun to see how this generation's own trauma would affect the next
