And I'm off with Nona! My boyfriend got me the book about a month ago, but I haven't had the time (nor the mental capacity) to pick it up back then. But it's summer and I just finished my last exam, so I decided it was finally the right time to continue the series. I know this book is only an intro to Alecto and offers something a little different than Harrow and Gideon, but I'm welcoming this change with open arms and am very excited to see what Muir's got in store for me.

Ok, enough yapping. Time for the commentary:

Starting off: background for John. Interesting, but I hate that it's so short and vague (in the best way, of course. I'm excited for it to be revealed later on.)

I'm concentrating SO HARD on connecting the pieces from Pyrrha talking to Cam (Palamedes). It's been a while since I've read Harrow, so I'm struggling to connect the dots. Although, I realize much of this is also just new info, so I don't particularly mind. I'm just making sure I don't skip over something important (i.e. I'm doing very active reading).

I like how Muir gave Nona a down-turned smile. That's such a cute addition to her design. (If I understood that part about that description correctly.)

Not gonna lie, the part where Nona's difficulty with controlling her body was mentioned was so heavy...

Yeah, no. Everything linked to Nona's disability is incredibly raw. It's filled with sadness, but also compassion and love. She allows herself to be proud of her progress, no matter how small it is, and I love that Muir decided to give her the space to do that. ❤️

One day when I re-read the series (because I will), I'm going to pay special attention to the character's relationship to sex. Or maybe I'm gonna read up on someone else's analysis. Because I find it really interesting how Muir approaches this subject, especially considering many of her characters are on the verge of adulthood and are suddenly entering a world filled with things they know nothing about (or very little). They've all been forced to grow up so fast, but had no time to actually develop into functional, grown adults. Idk, I just find all of this very interesting.

Unfortunately when they arrived at the temple, she was expected to undergo the bhaalist test, and was forced to kill her own mother. She was only six, and understandably terrified. Nezryn ended up stepping in to help guide her, thus leading her into her life of murder.

Fallon was older than most of the others when they joined the temple. Much older. She was twelve when she awoke one morning to find she had killed her adoptive parents in her sleep. She was confused and in hysterics. She had grown up next door to a retired paladin that treated her like his own granddaughter. He was the entire reason she liked swords. But when she went to him for help his auras had already told him what she was. Sceleritas showed up in time to save her, killing the old paladin, which only distressed her more. Despite this, she felt a sense of endearment towards him for protecting her and helping her through such a difficult and confusing time. Their trip was relatively peaceful. No guards came searching for them. The only thing of note that happened were a few of Sceleritas’ impromptu learning sessions where he taught her about the urges and how to satisfy them, instructing her to pick off lone travellers or the occasional homeless person.

Things get slightly complicated here, because the plan was somewhat Enver’s when it came to taking over Baldur’s Gate, but the brain and everything that followed, making him Archduke, was Aria. She had been given to Enver to be a personal bodyguard, as well as an assassin should he need one, so it gave her special privileges. She attended the meetings with the others and typically kept close to Enver. During the first few meetings she remained professional, acted a way befitting a bhaalist, and she generally helped keep the group on topic. During this time Ketheric admired her and even developed a more fatherly relationship with her. As the relationship with Enver developed she focused less on being proper and there ended up being more than a few meetings where she would end up in his lap, they would start flirting, or Enver would be turned on by her intellect and get way too handsy. honestly i’m not always for big flashy mvs but i know that’s kind the era of kpop mvs rn but skz never really bothers me with their mvs even if there’s a lot going on LOL (like the soldiers, the octo monster, the horse, the fire, just for examples) oh and i won with all the chris shots LOL anyways

i really like the choreo it’s really playful and like they said it’s like a “playful annoying” HAHA it really comes off as these annoying kids having fun without a care. my favorite part of the choreo is the hook and the start of verse 2 i love the switch up so much it’s not even funny. 

also the part where minho and chris get to be center with the footwork that’s such a nice moment!

i loved all the scenes on the boat fr fr that’s so cool! i also loved the camera work yet again their mvs always have such nice camerawork and editing <3333333 i love how they yet again did everything that tends to “bother” people. adding a lot of things to their videos and making them wild just like making their music noisy HAHA 

i also really liked the minchanjeong shot for the bridge it’s so good. that and seungmin’s shot at the end of the bridge too! hyun showing up in the fire for hook 2 was also so nice! ugh i could talk about the whole mv tbh LOL

wow overall this comeback is hard-hitting and there’s so much to take in!! there’s literally way too much to deal with you can’t process it all on one listen or watch. you need like ten LOL i’m in love with this cb tbh after listening to the album and the songs and seeing the mv like 4-5 times (this will go up later lol) i’m really happy and pleased with this cb!! overall it’s quite literally 5 stars HAHA <3333 thanks for reading if you made it this far *bows* i’m out to vibe to the album and watch the fan chant (we got 4 parts of chris in s-class can i get an amen)
