Lace Carriage
My second attempt at using my lace carriage! Not too shabby if I do say so myself. It’s definitely going to take a bit of practice to get good at it, but I think it turned out great for a second try.
I wanted something a bit more complex for this go round, and opted for this pretty diamond pattern that I found in the Empisal KH-610 Instruction Manual. Some of my holes aren’t perfect, but I think it has to do with the tension of my yarn.
I’ve already added a yarn winder to my wish list for this year! It should help with my tension issues (I hope).

I'm planning out a Drifting Stars fic rn, so here's a snippet of the first chapter because I need to post something about this fic. This is a first draft so it may change but I'm pretty happy with it for now
“Woah, woah, hey what’s going on? Stanford!”
--------------
Stanley watched, anger melting to fear as his twin brother began to float backwards, as if being pulled by some invisible hand towards the glowing machine
He watched as his brothers face contorted into an expression of fear he had never seen on his face before. All those years, and Stanley had never seen his bother look so afraid. Not like this. Not even as a kid hiding himself from the other kids their age, as a teenager watching him out the window of a house no longer a home, not even just a few minutes prior, so overcome with paranoia that he would think Stanley would ever want to hurt him. No, Ford had never looked so scared in his life, and Stanley had never known a fear like this himself
“Stanley! Stanley, help me!”
“Help me!!”
His brother, his twin brother, was floating away too fast and too slow all at once. His brother, who had grown up with him, who had abandoned him, who had came to him for help when he didn’t know who else to trust, was floating backwards into an oblivion of light, and Stanley felt powerless to do anything
“Oh no, what do I do?”
“What do we do?”
“Stanley! Stanley!”
Ford was thrashing in the air, desperately trying to push himself forward, but to no avail. He kept drifting backwards, and now he was beginning to submerge into the portal, the light around him rippling like he was being lowered into a pool
“Do something!”
“We gotta do something!”
Stan looked around for something, anything that he could use. A rope, a pole, something for Ford to hold onto, to keep him out of whatever hell was on the other side of the portal, but there was nothing he could use. And his brother continued to drift backwards, slowly being consumed by swirling blue light
“Stanley!”
“Grunkle Stan!”
Stan looked at his great-niece, his sweet great-niece who wore hand-made sweaters, and knitted him “Our Hero” banners, who named a pig Waddles and was so excited to start highschool, and he saw the same fear in her eyes as his brother all those years ago
He was held back by more than his own uselessness this time, gravity crushing him into the pipe behind him, keeping him in place, keeping him from running forward, from shutting down the damn portal, keeping him from saving another piece of his world pulled into the unknown back by the same cruel hand that had held his brother
“Grunkle Stan, how do we stop it? How do we save her?” Dippers voice was so far away yet so clear, and yet Stan couldn’t say a word
This wasn’t how it was supposed to happen
She was just a kid
It was like 30 years had never passed, and he was still the same piece of shit who couldn’t protect his family
She was looking straight at him, and the look on her face would be burnt into his mind for the rest of this life. Begging him to do something, anything, to help her somehow
“Mabel, grab something! Anything!”
But he couldn’t
“I can’t!”
Goddamn it, he couldn’t do anything
“We gotta shut it down, we gotta shut it down!!”
Curse this stupid gravity, he had to help her!
“I can’t move, dude!”
He couldn’t take losing one more person
“Help me!!”
Not her, please god not her
“Mabel!”
No, no, no!!
“Dipper!!”
Blinding light. Complete silence.
Then everything came crashing down at once. And Mabel was gone
#criticism is welcome just dont be a dick lol#also im kind of mean to stan in this one so apologies to him i guess#he isnt gonna have a great time in this fic tho#gravity falls#gravity falls au#drifting stars au#drifting stars#stanley pines#stan pines#stanford pines#ford pines#mabel pines#dipper pines#the book of bill#fanfic#fanfiction

hi!! i really loved your eddie fic "home"!! chris scared of y/n leaving made me feel so 🥹🥹
would you be able to write an eddie diaz x buckley!reader fic where the reader is also a firefighter in the 118?
Thank you so much for the request!
PROTECTIVE - EDDIE DIAZ
The tension in the firehouse of Station 118 was almost palpable whenever Eddie Diaz and Y/N Buckley were in the same room. Eddie, with his charming smile and confident demeanor, seemed to effortlessly annoy Y/N, whose sharp tongue and fierce independence often clashed with his playful, flirtatious nature. The situation was complicated further by the fact that Y/N’s brother, Buck, was Eddie’s best friend and partner at the fire station.
Eddie often found himself at the Buckley apartment, where Buck and Y/N shared a living space. What was meant to be a simple arrangement for Buck and his sister often turned into a battlefield whenever Eddie was around. The playful banter between Eddie and Y/N was a source of amusement for Buck, but it was also a constant source of frustration for Y/N.
Y/N Buckley was not one to back down from a challenge. Her determination and strong will had earned her respect at Station 118, but they also meant that she and Eddie were frequently at odds. Eddie’s flirty comments, which were meant to be light-hearted and playful, often struck a nerve with her. She found his constant teasing infuriating, not realizing that beneath his jokes, Eddie was genuinely intrigued by her strong spirit.
--- --- ---
Day-to-day life at the firehouse was a mix of adrenaline-fueled action and mundane routine. The team at Station 118 was a tight-knit group, and despite their differences, they functioned as a well-oiled machine when it came to saving lives. Y/N and Eddie’s professional relationship was no exception. They might have bickered off-duty, but on the job, they had each other’s backs.
Eddie’s playful nature never missed an opportunity to tease Y/N. “Hey, Y/N, did you lose a bet with fashion today?” he quipped one morning as she walked in, her expression already showing signs of exasperation.
“Shut it, Diaz,” she shot back, rolling her eyes. “You wouldn’t know fashion if it hit you in the face.”
Buck chuckled, watching the familiar exchange. “You two should just get a room,” he joked, earning a glare from his sister.
“Not in a million years,” Y/N and Eddie replied simultaneously, their voices laced with mutual disdain.
Despite their constant bickering, the rest of the team couldn’t deny the chemistry between them. There was an unspoken connection, a tension that simmered beneath the surface, hinting at something deeper than either of them was willing to admit.
--- --- ---
The day started like any other at Station 118. The team was gathered in the common area, going over the day’s schedule and cracking jokes. Eddie and Buck were engaged in a heated discussion about a recent basketball game, while Y/N sat nearby, rolling her eyes at their animated debate.
Just as the laughter echoed through the room, the alarm sounded. Instantly, everyone was on their feet, the camaraderie giving way to professional focus. They moved with practiced efficiency, each member of the team falling into their roles as they raced to the fire trucks.
“House fire reported on Elm Street,” Bobby Nash, the station captain, announced as they boarded the truck. “We’ve got reports of people trapped inside. Let’s move, people!”
Eddie and Buck exchanged a serious glance, the gravity of their mission settling in. Y/N was already geared up, her face a mask of determination. The rivalry between her and Eddie was forgotten, replaced by the urgency of the situation.
As they arrived at the scene, thick smoke billowed from the two-story house, flames licking at the windows. Neighbors stood outside, watching in horror as the fire consumed the building. The team sprang into action, their training taking over as they worked to contain the blaze and rescue the trapped occupants.
Eddie and Y/N found themselves paired up, working together to search the upper floor for any survivors. The heat was intense, and the smoke made it difficult to see, but they pressed on, determined to save anyone they could.
“Over here!” Eddie called out, spotting a faint outline through the smoke. Y/N was right behind him as they approached a closed door. They could hear faint cries for help coming from inside.
Without hesitation, Eddie kicked the door open, revealing a young woman huddled in the corner, coughing and gasping for air. Y/N rushed to her side, helping her to her feet and guiding her towards the window.
“We’re getting you out of here,” she assured the woman, her voice calm despite the chaos around them.
Eddie broke the window, the glass shattering as fresh air rushed in. He and Y/N carefully helped the woman through the opening, lowering her to the ground where paramedics were waiting.
As they prepared to continue their search, a loud crack echoed through the house. The floor beneath them began to give way, and Eddie grabbed Y/N’s arm, pulling her back just in time as the wood splintered and collapsed.
“We need to get out of here,” Eddie urged, his usual playful tone replaced by serious concern.
Y/N nodded, her heart pounding. Together, they made their way back through the smoke-filled hallway, their movements swift and coordinated. They had just reached the stairs when another loud crash sounded above them.
“Hurry!” Y/N shouted, her voice barely audible over the roar of the flames.
They descended the stairs as fast as they could, emerging from the house just as the roof caved in. The rest of the team was there to meet them, relief evident on their faces as they saw Eddie and Y/N emerge unscathed.
--- --- ---
Back at the station, the adrenaline rush began to wear off, leaving exhaustion in its wake. Y/N sat in the locker room, wiping sweat and soot from her face. She was physically and emotionally drained, the events of the day replaying in her mind.
Eddie entered, his usual swagger tempered by the day’s ordeal. He glanced at Y/N, his expression uncharacteristically serious.
“You did good out there,” he said quietly, breaking the silence.
Y/N looked up, surprised by the sincerity in his voice. “Thanks,” she replied, her tone softer than usual. “You too.”
For a moment, the usual animosity between them was absent, replaced by mutual respect and understanding. It was a rare glimpse beneath the surface, a reminder that despite their differences, they were a team.
Eddie hesitated, as if searching for the right words. “Look, I know we don’t always see eye to eye, but I respect you, Y/N. You’re one hell of a firefighter.”
Y/N felt a flicker of warmth at his words, the sincerity cutting through the usual banter. “I respect you too, Eddie,” she admitted. “Even if you do drive me crazy.”
A small smile tugged at Eddie’s lips. “It’s a gift,” he said, his playful tone returning. “But seriously, I’m glad we’ve got each other’s backs out there.”
Y/N nodded, feeling a sense of camaraderie that she hadn’t allowed herself to acknowledge before. “Me too,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
--- --- ---
Days turned into weeks, and life at Station 118 continued at its usual hectic pace. Eddie and Y/N’s relationship remained a mix of playful banter and professional respect, but there was a subtle shift in their dynamic. They still bickered, but there was a newfound understanding between them, a recognition of the bond they shared as firefighters and friends.
One evening, Buck invited Eddie over for dinner at the Buckley apartment. Y/N, unaware of the invitation, was less than thrilled to find Eddie at their doorstep when she returned home from a long shift.
“Great, just what I needed,” she muttered under her breath as she walked into the living room, finding Eddie and Buck laughing over a game on the TV.
“Hey, sis! Join us for dinner?” Buck called out, oblivious to the tension between his sister and best friend.
Y/N sighed, too tired to argue. “Fine,” she said, dropping her bag by the door and heading to the kitchen. “But I’m not cooking.”
Eddie followed her, a smirk on his face. “Need some help?” he offered, leaning against the counter.
“No,” Y/N replied curtly, opening the fridge and pulling out ingredients for a quick meal. “I’ve got it.”
Eddie watched her for a moment, his expression unreadable. “You know, you don’t always have to be so tough,” he said quietly.
Y/N paused, surprised by his words. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“It means,” Eddie said, stepping closer, “that it’s okay to let people in sometimes. You don’t have to do everything on your own.”
Y/N stared at him, the familiar irritation mixing with something else, something softer. “Why do you care?” she asked, her voice almost a whisper.
Eddie shrugged, his gaze steady. “Because I do.”
--- --- ---
Life has a way of throwing curveballs when you least expect them. It was a rainy evening, and Y/N was driving home after a particularly grueling shift. Her thoughts were scattered, a mix of exhaustion and the lingering conversation she’d had with Eddie. She barely noticed the slick road and the car speeding towards her until it was too late.
The collision was violent, the impact sending her car spinning off the road. Everything became a blur of pain and darkness as she lost consciousness.
At Station 118, the alarm sounded, pulling the team from their evening routine. “Car accident on Maple and 5th,” Bobby announced as they scrambled to gear up. “Multiple vehicles involved. Let’s move!”
Eddie and Buck exchanged a glance, their usual banter absent as they focused on the task at hand. As they arrived at the scene, the sight that greeted them was chaotic. Cars were scattered, some overturned, with injured people trapped inside.
The team sprang into action, each member taking on different tasks. Eddie and Buck moved towards a badly damaged car, working to free the person trapped inside. As Eddie peered through the shattered window, his heart stopped.
It was Y/N.
“Buck, it’s Y/N!” Eddie’s voice cracked with panic as he recognized her.
Buck’s face went pale, his professional composure slipping. “We need to get her out of there,” he said urgently.
Eddie’s hands trembled as he worked to free Y/N from the wreckage, his mind racing with fear and guilt. He could see her injuries, the blood staining her clothes, and it felt like a knife twisting in his heart.
With the help of the team, they managed to extricate Y/N from the car. Eddie cradled her in his arms, his usually steady hands shaking. “Stay with me, Y/N,” he pleaded, his voice choked with emotion. “Please, stay with me.”
Buck was by his side, his face a mask of anguish as he watched his sister’s unconscious form. “We need to get her to the hospital, now,” he said, his voice tight with fear.
The paramedics took over, loading Y/N into the ambulance. Eddie and Buck rode with her, their hearts heavy with dread. The usually confident and playful Eddie was a wreck, his mind consumed with worry for the woman he realized he cared about more than he had ever admitted.
---- --- ---
The hours that followed were some of the longest and most agonizing of Eddie’s life. He and Buck sat in the hospital waiting room, the sterile environment doing nothing to calm their nerves. Eddie’s mind was a whirlwind of emotions—fear, guilt, regret. He replayed every interaction he’d had with Y/N, every teasing comment, and wished he could take back every moment of tension between them.
Buck was equally distraught, his worry for his sister palpable. “She’s strong,” he said, more to himself than to Eddie. “She’s going to make it.”
Eddie nodded, but his heart was heavy with doubt. He couldn’t shake the image of Y/N’s bloodied and broken form from his mind. The realization of how much she meant to him hit him with full force, leaving him feeling helpless and lost.
When the doctor finally emerged, both men stood up, their faces etched with anxiety. “She’s stable,” the doctor said, a note of reassurance in his voice. “She’s going to be okay, but she’s going to need time to heal.”
Relief washed over them, but the weight of the situation still lingered. Eddie felt a wave of gratitude, but also a deep sense of responsibility. He vowed to himself that he would be there for Y/N, no matter what. The playful facade he had maintained for so long was gone, replaced by a newfound resolve to be the support she needed.
“Buck,” Eddie said, turning to his friend. “You should go home and get some rest. You’ve been here all day. I’ll stay the night and make sure she’s okay.”
Buck looked at Eddie, his eyes filled with gratitude and exhaustion. “Are you sure?” he asked, his voice thick with emotion. “I don’t want to leave her.”
“I’m sure,” Eddie replied, his tone firm yet gentle. “I’ll call you if anything changes. She’s going to need both of us when she wakes up, and you’ll be no good to her if you’re running on empty.”
Buck hesitated for a moment, then nodded, recognizing the truth in Eddie’s words. “Thanks, man,” he said, clapping Eddie on the shoulder. “I owe you one.”
“No, you don’t,” Eddie said, giving Buck a reassuring smile. “We’re in this together.”
As Buck left the hospital, Eddie settled into the chair beside Y/N’s bed. He watched her sleep, his heart aching at the sight of her injuries. He reached out, gently taking her hand in his, his thumb brushing over her knuckles.
“I’m here, Y/N,” he whispered, his voice filled with emotion. “And I’m not going anywhere.”
--- --- ---
Y/N’s recovery was slow and painful. She spent several days in the hospital, her body battered but her spirit unbroken. Eddie was a constant presence by her side, his usual teasing replaced by genuine care and concern.
One morning, Y/N stirred from her restless sleep, her eyes fluttering open. The sterile white ceiling of the hospital room came into focus, and as she turned her head, she saw Eddie slumped in the chair beside her bed. He was asleep, his head tilted awkwardly to one side, his expression soft and unguarded.
The sight of him there, keeping vigil through the night, sent a surge of emotions through Y/N. She felt a warmth spread through her chest, a mix of gratitude and something deeper, something she hadn’t allowed herself to acknowledge before. Despite their constant bickering, Eddie had been there for her when she needed him most.
Y/N’s movement stirred Eddie from his slumber. He blinked groggily, his eyes widening as he saw her awake. “Y/N,” he said, his voice thick with sleep and relief. “You’re awake.”
“Hey,” she replied, her voice raspy. “You didn’t have to stay here all night, you know.”
Eddie rubbed the back of his neck, a sheepish smile playing on his lips. “Yeah, well, I wasn’t going to leave you alone.”
Y/N felt a lump form in her throat, the sincerity in his words touching her deeply. “Thank you,” she whispered, her eyes glistening with unshed tears.
Eddie reached out, taking her hand in his. “I’m just glad you’re okay,” he said softly. “You had us all worried.”
Y/N managed a small smile, her fingers curling around his. “I guess I gave everyone quite a scare, huh?”
“Yeah, you did,” Eddie admitted, his gaze never leaving hers. “But you’re tough. I knew you’d pull through.”
For a moment, they simply held each other’s gaze, the usual barriers between them gone. In that quiet hospital room, surrounded by the hum of machines and the scent of antiseptic, something shifted between them.
--- --- ---
As Y/N’s recovery progressed, she and Eddie spent more time together. The hospital room became a space for honest conversations and shared vulnerabilities. Eddie’s presence was a constant comfort, his playful facade giving way to a more tender, caring side.
One evening, as the sun set outside the hospital window, Y/N turned to Eddie, her voice filled with curiosity. “Why are you being so nice to me?” she asked, her eyes searching his.
Eddie smiled, his eyes softening. “Because I care about you, Y/N. More than I realized. And I’m sorry for all the times I made things difficult between us.”
Y/N was silent for a moment, her gaze thoughtful. “I never hated you, Eddie,” she admitted quietly. “I just didn’t know how to handle you.”
Eddie chuckled, a sound that was both light and filled with emotion. “I guess I didn’t make it easy, did I?”
Y/N managed a small smile. “No, you didn’t. But I’m glad you’re here.”
--- --- ---
Y/N’s discharge from the hospital marked the beginning of a new chapter in her life. While she was relieved to leave the sterile environment behind, the road to recovery was still long and fraught with challenges. Eddie, who had been a constant presence by her side during her hospital stay, continued to be her unwavering support.
As she settled back into the Buckley apartment, it became clear that Eddie’s concern for her had intensified. He was attentive to her every need, often to the point of being overprotective.
"Eddie, I appreciate you looking out for me, but I can make my own breakfast," Y/N said one morning, gently trying to ease his worry.
Eddie was in the kitchen, meticulously preparing scrambled eggs. He looked up, his expression a mix of concern and determination. "I know you can, Y/N. But you need to rest and focus on healing. Let me take care of you."
Y/N sighed, a small smile tugging at her lips. "You've been taking care of me non-stop since the accident. Aren't you getting tired?"
"Never," Eddie replied firmly, placing a plate in front of her. "You're more important to me than anything else."
--- --- ---
Eddie's overprotectiveness extended beyond the confines of the apartment. At work, he was constantly checking in on Y/N, ensuring she wasn't overexerting herself. This behavior did not go unnoticed by their colleagues at Station 118.
"Y/N, you okay? Need any help with that?" Eddie asked for the third time that day as she worked on a routine maintenance task.
Hen rolled her eyes good-naturedly as she passed by. "Eddie, she's fine. You've got to let her breathe a little."
Y/N shot Hen a grateful look. "Thank you, Hen. See, Eddie? I'm in good hands."
Eddie sighed but nodded, knowing his friends were right. "I just... I worry, you know?"
"We know," Chimney said, clapping Eddie on the shoulder. "But you've got to trust that Y/N can handle herself. She's tougher than you give her credit for."
Despite his friends' reassurances, Eddie couldn't shake his protective instincts. Every time he saw Y/N wince or heard her sigh in discomfort, his heart clenched with worry. He knew she was strong, but the thought of losing her or seeing her hurt again was more than he could bear.
One evening, as they sat on the couch watching a movie, Y/N turned to Eddie, her expression serious. "Eddie, we need to talk."
Eddie muted the TV and faced her, his heart pounding. "What is it?"
"I appreciate everything you've done for me," Y/N began, taking his hand in hers. "But you're smothering me. I need to feel like I can do things on my own again."
Eddie looked down, guilt and concern battling within him. "I just don't want anything to happen to you."
Y/N squeezed his hand. "I know. But I need to regain my independence. And you need to trust that I can take care of myself. We'll face any challenges together, but you have to give me some space."
Eddie took a deep breath, nodding slowly. "You're right. I'm sorry, Y/N. It's just... seeing you hurt, it scared me more than anything."
Y/N sighed. "I know. And I love you for caring so much. But we'll get through this together, okay?"
Eddie's heart skipped a beat at Y/N's words. He looked up, meeting her gaze with a mixture of surprise and hope. "You love me?" he repeated, his voice barely above a whisper.
Y/N's cheeks flushed pink, but she didn't look away. "Yes, Eddie. I love you."
A rush of emotions flooded through Eddie—joy, relief, and a profound sense of gratitude. He had hoped for this moment, but hearing the words from Y/N's lips made it feel like a dream come true.
"I love you too, Y/N," Eddie said, his voice filled with sincerity. "More than I ever thought possible."
They sat there for a moment, letting the weight of their words sink in, the warmth of their love enveloping them like a cozy blanket. In that quiet moment, surrounded by the soft glow of the TV and the comforting presence of each other, they knew that their bond was unbreakable.
As they leaned in, their breaths mingling in the air charged with anticipation, Eddie and Y/N shared a moment that felt like the culmination of a lifetime of unspoken emotions. Their lips met in a tender, hesitant kiss—a gentle exploration that spoke volumes of their love and longing.
It was a kiss filled with a quiet intensity, a silent declaration of their deepest feelings. In that fleeting moment, the world around them faded away, leaving only the warmth of their embrace and the electricity of their connection.
Their hearts beat in sync as they melted into each other, each brush of their lips a whispered promise of forever. And as they pulled back, their eyes locked in a shared gaze filled with newfound understanding and a sense of completeness, they knew that this kiss was just the beginning of their journey together

Protect your brothers at all costs. That was what your father always told you. As the eldest, it was your duty to look after them, to teach them and to protect them from the world whilst your father was away. Three years older than Dean and seven years older than Sam, you have a lot of responsibility to look after them.
Most of your time was spent in some dead-beat motel, where the taps dripped constantly and the wallpaper was either shrouded with mould or peeling off. Sometimes both at the same time. With the loss of your mother and the often absence of your father, you played more of a parental role to your little brothers than anyone else. You were there for birthdays to see the gleam on their faces when they unwrapped the presents you had managed to steal or scrounge together with what little money you had. You were there on christmassed when John, too obsessed with work to care, wasn't. No matter how many times you had to lie to them about where he was, it never got easier. You never got used to seeing the disappointment on their small faces; their eyebrows knitting together and their eyes drooping with sadness. And it never got easier seeing them slowly begin to lose hope in their father. To see them slowly realise that he wasn’t coming home most nights. Slowly, as they grew, they began to see through your excuses for John, becoming wise to his actions. To his neglect. But the worst part was the worry. Worry for John, but also for your brothers. Even as they slept, sprawled out on the motel bed, you would stay on the couch, eyes wide awake as you nursed a mug of lukewarm coffee, eyes flicking between whatever shitty cartoon you had playing on mute, and your sleeping brothers just waiting for something. For one of them to wake up from a nightmare. For something to somehow slip through the doors and windows you had locked firmly shut, and double checked at least three times. The fear of something happening to your brothers gripped you tight like a vice, consuming you completely. A lot of it stemmed from the ‘maternal’ role you played for them. But a lot if it was fear driven into you by your father.
He was hard on you. That was very clear. John had always been very clear with his discipline. Especially since your mom died. There was one time that something did happen to your brothers whilst on your watch. And the memory scarred you to this day. You had left the motel room for a minute. You had wanted to slip across the hall to the vending machine, and selfishly wanted some peace and quiet away from your brothers for once. But….when you returned your heart practically dropped through your feet. Sam, barely 10 years old, was lying on the bed, Dean not far away and in the two minutes that you had taken your gaze off of your brothers, the Shtriga that your father was out hunting had managed to slip through the window to feed on your youngest brother. Luckily, your father had returned in time to kill the striga and both Sam and Dean were completely fine. But you had hell to pay from your father. To say he scolded you would be putting it lightly. You never took your eyes off of your brothers after that.
As you all grew older, and your father had deemed Dean old enough to look after Sammy, you began to hunt with your father. The training was rough, and often you came home battered and bruised. But that was just the life of a hunter. Hesitation would be punished. Hesitation could get you or someone killed; shoot first ask questions later. Always. Hunting with your dad gave you a rush. The two of you began to grow a little closer as you spent more time with him. Sure, he was hard on you. But you knew he just wanted you to be safe….. You began to enjoy hunting once you pushed past the initial fear and the butterflies that stirred in your stomach until they made you feel sick. It gave you something to do. It gave you a purpose. It made you feel like you were helping. Saving people. Though the nervousness still lingered when you were away from your brothers. The longer you were away the more the thoughts of something bad happening to them consumed your mind even though you knew they were old enough to handle themselves. You hated to admit it…but it sort of hurt that they didn’t need you anymore.
Overtime, things changed. Dean began to hunt too. Sam drifted apart. Until that fateful night that he left. You still remember the argument. The slamming of doors as he left for Stanford with no plan of when or if he would even return. Dean needed you for the first time in a long time that night. John had stormed off, heading to the local bar to drown his problems with drink. You were sure that if you hadn’t been there, then dean would have been following shortly behind like a dog in tow. A lost puppy following its owner. The two of you sat in silence that night, clinging on to every shred of the comfort you could give each other. To every shattered fragment of your broken family.
Things fell apart further when your Dad went missing. With Sam gone, Dean and you would often go on hunts together. Sometimes with your father. Often not. And sure, sometimes you would go a little while without seeing each other if the jobs didn’t line up, but this time it had been too long. So you hauled yourself into Baby, who John had gifted to you, and took the long drive to visit Sammy at Stanford. You couldn’t believe how much he had grown since you last saw him. He was taller. That was the first thing you noticed. He even dwarfed Dean who already towered over you himself. And he had changed his hair too. It framed his face more. He was so grown up so different, but even with the time apart the love between you still remained. It was that reason that Sam decided to join you. Broken and grieving his girlfriend, once again Sammy needed you. And you were ready to be there for him. It felt like being a child again; having your brothers relying on you once more. But even with years away from them, the feeling still came naturally.
The three of you became thick as thieves again after that. Sam stayed. Sam died. Sam came back. Dean died. Dean came back. Over and over again the three of you would be separated. And each time you found your way back to each other. Every time you were there.
It was a hot day in California when it happened. Dean had been driving Baby, the windows rolled down as your and Sam's voices melded with the music blasting from the stereo. It was one of those days in between hunts where life was just so worth living. Where the Winchesters could just be. You had stopped at a small cafe in the mountains. It was a pretty thing; small and on the roadside by a lake in the mountains. It had a small picnic space that you and Sam resided in as Dean brought over your order. He had insisted in going in himself, even though you had offered countless times to go in for him.
The glass clinked against the class as he placed the tray down on the table.
“Thank you, Deano.” you smiled softly, taking your order from the tray and savouring the ice cold of your drink as you took a sip.
Dean sat beside you. “It’s no problem. You’re always doing things for us, you know? Let us do something for you. Even if it is just driving and buying you lunch.”
“Seriously,” Sam added, “You’re always helping us out. Patching us up. Keeping us safe. You’re always there.”
You shrugged. “I don’t mind.”
“We know.” Sam hummed. “But I guess we’ve never really said thank you.”
“You don’t have to, Sammy. It’s just my job. Someone’s gotta keep you two in line.”
They both chuckle lightly. “Seriously though. Thank you.”
Your heart warmed, a soft, loved smile creeping onto your lips. “Anytime, you call and I’m there. Always.”

Hi! I was wondering if I can request the tmnt bayverse brothers with a kitsune little sister?(reader) just general sibling hc’s ~3~
Bayverse Turtles x Kitsune Little Sister
Listen with me! ↠ⁿᵉˣᵗ ˢᵒⁿᵍ ↺ ʳᵉᵖᵉᵃᵗ ⊜ ᵖᵃᵘˢᵉ
Warnings: Kitsune Reader, Reader has fire based abilities.
A/N: Absatootly! I have a soft spot for Kitsune readers tbh. They're one of my favorite mythical creatures.
Leonardo 🧡
Utterly adores you.
He loves sparring with you especially. Both with and without your flames.
Absentmindedly pets you if you're close to him while he's relaxing, especially if he's reading. He'll just start petting your ears and if you ask nicely, he'll even read out loud to you.
As a highly spiritual being, you often meditate. You're one of the only people allowed in Leo's personal meditation room. You're allowed in at any time. If he's already in there, he'll scooch to the side a bit to make more room for you. But if you're in there before him, he'll give a gentle hello before settling beside you.
As the mother hen of the group, he mothers you. He can't help it. You're the littilest of them all. Of course, he knows better than to underestimate you, but that doesn't stop you from scolding you.
Please ease him into the idea if you have a partner, especially if it's a boy. All he can think about is you and him having sex. You'll need to reassure him and let him know that you're not going around having unprotected sex and risking getting pregnant.
Even if you do dumb shit though, he's the first one to rescue you. You are still his little sister after all. He's had to save his brothers several time and you are no exception.
He will attempt to ground you though. Trust me. If you wanna get out of it, you better hope Splinter doesn't agree with him or else you'll end up double grounded!
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Raphael 🧡
His 👏 little 👏 sparring 👏 buddy. 👏
He wants you to go at him with everything you've got. Claws, fangs, fire. Hell, he'll egg you know until you transform into your true fox form. He wants to push both him and you.
He's gotten burnt more than once from sparring with you. Of course, thanks to the thick scales he has, it's not too bad. Some cleaning spray from Donnie and a scolding from Leo and he's all set.
Definitely has a few minor scars from you and wears them with pride. "Yeah this one is from my little sister over there. Got me good."
Knits you little hats with holes for your ears as well as hats specifically designed to comfortably cover them up without squishing them too badly.
Is on the front lines with Leo if you get a boyfriend. But while Leo is fretting over you, Raph is having a little talk with your boyfriend. Shotgun? Ahahaha. No. His fists are bigger than his head and he will use them.
The two of you are always getting into mischief together. Do you two get scolded by Leo? Yes. Do the two of you get grounded together? Absolutely. Is it worth it? Totally.
Not uncommon for you to sit all curled up in a miniature version of your fox form on his lap while he watches a show or knits. Just don't paw at his yarn.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Donatello 🧡
Uses you like you're a welding machine. I'm not even kidding. Hey. He needs these pieces fused and you just so happen to have fire abilities. Might as well put em to good use.
It's not uncommon for him to find you sleeping in your mini fox form under his desk. All the equipment warms up the space down there and it makes a cozy little nook down there for you.
He did learn the hard way that he needed to check under there though. Let's just say he found your teeth in his ankle after he accidentally kicked you once. Yeah. Not a pleasant experience for him.
Will ask for your help with projects. Your tiny fingers are pretty useful at times.
Sometimes Leo wants the meditation room to himself. In those moments, you'll actually go to Donnie's lab and meditate there. If he's not building something, it's actually pretty quiet in there. Perfect for your next thirty minute meditation session.
Will probably be the most receptive of you getting a partner, regardless of gender. Will make it clear that if something goes down, that you're always safe to come to him without judgment.
Likes to groom your fur. He enjoys taking all sorts of fancy brushes and products to them. If you'll let him, he'll take pet friendly dye and dye pretty patterns in your fur.
Is the one that usually gets you out of trouble. He won't help you if you've genuinely fucked up, you need to learn your lesson. But if Leo is being overbearing again then he's usually the first one to talk him into getting you out of trouble. He needs his little helper!
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Michaelangelo 🧡
Pranks. That's it. That's the post. Jk. But seriously, you're his little prankster buddy.
Your mini fox form is super handy for setting certain pranks and he always manages to bring you on board with whatever evil plan he has.
Loves sparring you, especially in your fox form. Not a big fan of the fire though. He won't admit it but the flames freak him out a bit.
Do not think that this man won't snitch you out. If he's going to the ha'shi, so are you bitch! Ain't no way he's going in alone! *raises frying pan* Snitches get stitches.
Will take full advantage of your bigger fox form. Please he's just so cold, won't you warm him up? It's just for a few minutes, he promises!
Loves playing video games with you but will absolutely laugh and rub it in your face when he kicks your ass.
Beware if you get a partner. He will recruit them into the prankster brigade and he will convince them to team up with him against you. You are not safe.
Absolutely teases you for being the youngest. But don't worry, he probably loves you the most too. You're just his little sister and you mean everything to him.
And there we go! Not my finest work *sobs* but I still like it. :D

Pattern Storage
I think I’ve managed to combine my love of spreadsheets with my love of knitting machines 😅
All of the push button patterns I’ve managed to find online are rough-looking or scanned pages. I wanted a prettier way to keep up with my favorite patterns so I put together a base chart using Google Sheets and Canva. Now, I can just print out a chart, fill it in, and stick it in my notebook! It also means I’m not having to scrounge around the internet trying to remember what website had which pattern on it.
How do you like to store your favorite patterns?

Before I Knew [Jake Seresin x Reader] Chapter Four
A Jake Seresin unexpected pregnancy fic
Overview: On your first night after moving to San Diego to spend more time with your brother Bob, you unknowingly have a one night stand with his teammate Jake Seresin. For the first time in his whole life, Bob has a closely knit friend group and you’re desperate not to rock the boat. But an unexpected and unplanned pregnancy upends your world, forcing you and Jake closer together, against Bob’s wishes. What will happen when you find yourself actually falling for the father of your unborn child?
Pairing: Jake Seresin x Reader; Bob Floyd x Sister!Reader
Warnings: Pregnancy, cursing, eventual smut, alcohol, gyno visit
Chapter summary: Bob finds out the pregnancy; Y/N gives Jake and Bob an ultimatum
Masterlist here; previous chapter here
The Barbie movie said it right. It was always baby dolls.
You were one of the girls who religiously carried around a baby doll. Buckled it into the seat next to you on car rides. Made sure to change its faux diaper. Prepared empty bottles of “formula” for feedings. So you had been sure you wanted to be a parent.
But when reality hit you like a ton of bricks, the fear overrode that sense of longing.
What if you weren’t enough to be a mom?
***
Bob didn’t come home that night. So he didn’t hear you crying on the floor of the shower after Jake ran out. By the time he arrived back at the house in the late morning, hair ruffled and nowhere near his normal slicked back military neatness, you had pulled yourself together. Or at least, as together as was possible.
“Hi Ducky,” he said, slipping through the front door, hanging his jacket on the hanger to his left. “How was your night?”
You shrugged. “Fine. Went to bed early.”
Bob paused. Then, “Did Jake stop by? I think I remember him saying he would.”
“Yeah, he did.”
“And?” There was an inflection of expectation in his voice. Leading.
“He stopped by, saw I was alive, and left. That was it.”
Bob frowned. “He just left?”
“Ran away, to be specific.”
“Don’t think I’ve ever seen Hangman run.” Bob cocked an eyebrow. “You must have scared him.”
“You have no idea.”
***
Every time Bob went out with the team you made an excuse to stay home. You had a headache. There was a new episode of The Bachelor on. You wanted to spend some time filling out job applications.
Each time, Bob would hesitate. You saw the wheels turning in his head. Part of him wanted to stay, keep you company, make sure you were alright. The other part of him was desperate to be part of the group. To see his friends. You wanted that part of him to win.
You took Bob’s truck to the doctor. She squeezed jelly onto an ultrasound wand and you held your breath as the machine beeped to life. “There,” she said, pointing to a tiny fleck in an otherwise empty uterus. “That is your baby.”
You let out a sigh. Not one of relief. Nor one of fear. Just a sigh. A part of you had been waiting to see it to know that it was real. Five positive pregnancy tests felt like unconfirmed trash until you could see it with your own two eyes.
“The baby is measuring at eight weeks,” the doctor said. “Have you started on prenatals?”
You looked down toward the end of the exam table. “I’m not sure if I’m having the baby.”
“Oh.” Silence filled the room. She rolled back on her stool. “Well, let’s discuss your options.”
***
When you were five, you had a tiny stuffed penguin that your mom bought you at the grocery store near the flower section. The penguin went everywhere with you: to kindergarten in your backpack, to the park, it got buckled into the car seat next to you, it sat on its own chair at the dinner table.
And then one day, it was gone. You were inconsolable. Your mother, trying her hardest to put her foot down, said that you lost too many toys so she wouldn’t buy a replacement. You spent three days crying into your pillow at night, inconsolable about the penguin.
On the fourth day, you were lying down to go to bed when the door to your room squeaked open. Light poured in, Bob pushing up his large glasses on his slim nose. “Ducky?” he whispered.
You sat up, wiping at the tears on your cheeks. “What?”
“Surprise.” He pulled an identical stuffed penguin out from behind his back. Your eyes went wide, a smile plastered over your face. You held out your hands and Bob stepped forward, placing the stuffed penguin into your arms. You held it tightly, vowing to never let it go.
“Thank you,” you whispered.
Bob smiled. “You’re welcome.”
You fell asleep cradling the penguin. In the morning, your mom asked where you found it.
Bob shrugged. “Must have been under her bed.”
Your mother looked at the two of you. You were oblivious, happily eating your cereal. Bob was quiet, reserved. But when Friday rolled around and she offered to take him to the comic book store that he had been begging to go to, he declined. “Why?” she asked.
“I can’t afford a new comic.”
“You had ten dollars not two days ago,” your mother countered. “What did you do with all of that allowance?”
Bob looked over at you, playing in the corner. “She was sad.”
Your mother’s eyes softened. She pulled Bob into a hug. “You’re a good brother,” she said softly. “Come on, I’ll buy you two comic books.”
***
You had hid the evidence well enough. All of the pregnancy tests were in the trash wrapped in toilet paper. The clinic didn’t have Bob’s address listed in their file.
It was the fish tacos that did it.
Bob had stopped by a food truck on his way home from North Island, and your stomach growled as you tore into the white paper container of tacos, snapping them up greedily. But intense hunger was followed by a wave of unmistakable nausea and in a second you were out of your chair, running to the kitchen sink, throwing up the remains of the tacos with a loud gag. Bob came running into the kitchen, eyes wide. “Y/N?” he asked softly. “Are you alright?”
You ran the water, rinsing out your mouth, pushing everything down the disposal before straightening up and wiping at your lips with a paper towel. “Yeah, sorry. Think I got a bad batch of tilapia.”
He frowned. “Food poisoning doesn’t usually come on that fast. Are you feeling alright?”
“Yeah I’m fine. Maybe I’ll just finish dinner later.”
“OK, sure.”
“I’m going to go lay down.”
The nausea passed, as it usually did. By the time the sun was setting, you felt fine enough to wander into the kitchen, head stuck inside the fridge, frowning at the different layers of scents emanating. Bob’s voice startled you. “Something’s wrong.”
You jumped before shutting the fridge, hand on your heart. “Bobby, you scared the shit out of me!”
“No secrets, Y/N,” he said. “We’ve always been honest with each other. Since we were kids. You and me, against the world. You can tell me anything.”
“I’m scared,” you murmured.
“What is it?” In the moonlight streaming diagonally through the windows, he looked worried. Bob worried was a sight you knew well. He wore an air of concern in most situations. Since he was a child he had been nervous, worried, cautious. An old man in a young boy’s body. You loved him for that.
“I’m pregnant,” you whispered. The truth felt like releasing every gas bubble in your stomach all at once. You felt weightless.
And then gravity hit, and practically splattered you to the ground. Bob’s voice was no longer shaky. It was lower. Practically a growl. But perfectly crisp and decisive. “Whose is it?”
You should have known that was his next question. You should have been prepared. But instead, you said, “Jake’s.”
All of the air was sucked up by Bob in that instant. As if he were heaving it all in, preparing to breathe fire. You watched embers burn in his eyes. “I’m going to kill him.”
“It’s not his fault.”
“Then whose fault is it?” he roared and you staggered back, afraid of him for perhaps the first time in your life. “Fucking Christ, Y/N. You’ve really done it this time. Everything else, I could have handled for you. No job? I’ll help you find a job. No money? You can live with me. You need someone to proofread an essay? I’m happy to. But this?” He tossed his arms into the air. “What the fuck are you going to do?”
“Be a mom,” you whispered.
“You’re not prepared to be a parent,” he spat and you felt a flood of tears rush to your eyes. “You’re still a child.”
“No I'm not!” you countered. “So stop treating me like one.”
“Then stop acting like one!” Bob yelled and the sound reverberated along the empty walls. “You’re not ready for this,” Bob said, his voice lower now but still as fierce and hard.
“It doesn’t matter if I’m ready or not,” you whispered. “I have to be. That’s the end of the story.”
“You’re going to ruin this child’s life,” Bob said. His words cut. Never in twenty-three years had Bob said or done anything as painful as those words felt.
You let the tears fall from where they had started to well up on your eyelid. “No, Bobby, I’m not,” you whispered. “And if that’s what you think, then maybe I really am on my own.”
You were out the door before you realized you didn’t have a car of your own. You had no one to call.
Just one address that was seared in your memory.
By the time your Uber pulled up to Jake’s house, the rain had turned from a drizzle into practically a hurricane. You scampered out of the backseat and down the driveway, taking shelter under the porch as you hesitated before ringing the bell, lips practically blue from the cold.
Jake tugged open the door wearing a pair of gray sweatpants and no shirt. His green eyes widened as he took you in: drenched to the bone in a pair of pajamas, eyes ringed red from crying, no purse or bag, just a pair of flip flops on your feet.
“Y/N,” he murmured. “What—”
“I told Bob.” Your voice cracked.
Jake gulped. “Come inside.”
He held open the door. You were as sober as they came this time. Last time everything had been a blur: your legs pressed against the back of the door as Jake’s lips suctioned onto your neck. Your bra flung on the couch, Jake’s jeans pooled in a puddle in the hallway. This time, you stood shivering in the foyer as Jake’s eyes roamed over you. Finally, after a moment, you said, “I’m freezing.”
“Oh, shit.” That sparked a mission for him. “Here.” Jake gestured down the hall toward the bedroom. You stepped inside, trailing water along the hardwood floor. In the bathroom, he leaned in, turning on the shower, feeling the temperature with an upturned palm. “I’ll leave some clothes on the bed,” he said. “There’s, uh, towels in the closet.”
“Thanks.”
Jake hesitated for a moment. Finally, he turned to go and you heard the door to the bedroom shut softly. The clothes Jake left on the bed were a pair of women’s pajama pants and an obvious men’s sweatshirt. You pulled them both on and wandered out into the hallway. Jake was pacing up and down the living room, bare feet slapping against the wood. He had pulled on a t-shirt that was tight across his chest. When you entered the room he looked up, startled. “Hey.”
“Hi.” You looked around. “Can I sit there?”
“Yeah, of course.” Jake couldn’t sit still. You perched on the edge of the couch and watched as he crossed the room incessantly, shaking his head, the thoughts rolling around in his brain.
“Seresin,” you snapped and he looked over. “Sit down, you’re making me nauseous.”
“Fuck,” he whispered, sitting on the ottoman, one leg tapping. He looked up. “Are you OK?”
You shook your head. “I don’t know.” “But, um, the baby?”
“The baby is fine,” you replied quietly. “It’s me that’s not doing so great.”
“Is it Bob?”
Tears welled in your eyes. Jake’s face went ashen. You realized that Jake may have been just as scared of Bob’s reaction as you were. “He still thinks of me as a child.”
Jake sighed, running his fingers through his hair. “He’s just being a brother,” he said quietly. “I understand.”
“He’s going to murder you,” you said, only half joking.
“Not the first time Floyd has hated me,” Jake replied. “And it won’t be the last.”
“What’s the beef between the two of you?”
“It doesn’t matter.”
“Yes, it does.” You stood up. Now you were the one pacing, the legs of the borrowed pajama bottoms dragging around the floor. “He’s going to be the uncle of this child.” You paused. “And you’re the father. I need the two of you to get along.”
“I need a second to digest this all,” Jake whispered.
“It’s been two weeks. I think your decision is pretty clear,” you replied. Jake opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came out. You glanced at him, eyes dry from all the crying. “Can I stay here tonight?”
“Yeah, of course,” he said, standing up. “You can take my bed, I’ll stay out here.”
“Thanks.” You paused in the doorway. “Goodnight, Jake.”
“Goodnight, Y/N,” Jake said softly.
***
A pounding noise woke you from an uncomfortable sleep. You sat up in terror, sheets tangled up at your ankles as the pounding continued.
Then, “Hangman!” Bob’s voice was clear as day.
You staggered out of bed, throwing open the door from the bedroom just as Jake opened the front door and Bob stepped in, reaching for Jake’s shirt near his chest. You gasped and his eyes flitted over Jake’s shoulder, widening when he spotted you wearing Jake’s oversized sweatshirt.
“Keep your fucking hands off my sister,” Bob growled, his fist balled up in Jake’s collar as he stepped forward until the two men were nose to nose.
“Let go of him!” you cried and your voice rang out, thin, in the large living room. Bob’s grip on Jake remained. “Bobby! Please.”
His gaze turned to you, threatening to liquify your entire body with its intensity. “Go to the bedroom, Y/N. This is between me and Jake.”
“Except it isn’t,” you said. “I’m not going to pretend to know what the fuck is going on between you two, but it ends here. You’re either both in or you’re out.”
Bob’s hand dropped from Jake. “What do you mean out?”
“Out,” you repeated, tears springing to your eyes. “Out of my life.”
“Ducky.”
“Don’t Ducky me. This isn’t a game and I’m not a child. If anyone is being childish here, Bob, it’s you. Fighting to prove a point? What is punching Jake going to solve? It’s not going to undo the fact that we slept together.”
Bob’s fists tightened at his sides. “Don’t remind me.”
“I can do this without you,” you said quietly. “I don’t know how, all I know is that I can because I have to.” You turned to Jake. “I can do it without both of you. I just want to know – are you in or are you out?”

Through The Poral: Chapter 1
Series Masterlist
Chapter Summary: A mystery girl comes through the portal with Ford. Little did anyone know she has a bigger connection to the brothers than anyone thought.
Warnings: Angst, fluff, age gap, flash backs, mentions of hopelessness, age gap (reader looks 21)
Pairing(s): Stan x platonic!reader, Ford x platonic!reader
A/N: Retelling of a Tale of Two Stans. The events and ideas are based on a theory I have about the Nightmare Realm. This is in no way canonically true, just my theories based on what we canonically know about the Nightmare Realm.
40 long years of waiting. Waiting and wondering whether the time would come if I would ever be able to go home again. 40 years of hiding in plain sight from the one they call Bill Cipher, a dream demon who reigns over the nightmare realm, the place I have resided in for 40 years. Unaged and unchanged physically, but mentally I feel like I’ve lived for centuries.
When I first arrived in the nightmare realm, I had found refuge with a group of asteroid miners. I wasn't sure how much time had truly passed when an unknown man joined us, Stanford Pines. He told us stories of how he managed to get there as escapes Bill's grasp.
That was a long time ago. It seemed longer than what it actually was. Stanford had gone off and managed to hop between dimensions, and here we're I standing at the ready to take down Bill for good, his quantum destabilizer complete and in hand.
“We have one shot at this.” Stanford whispered to me.
I nodded in agreement, but as we went to strike, a rift opened up in front of us. Stanford, knowing the stakes of this mission knew that either we walked through, or Bill would and wreak havoc upon our home dimension, so with a heavy heart we walked through entering back into our home dimension.
It felt surreal. After being gone for so long, I was finally back home. Yet, where I stood was not familiar to me. I recognised nothing. A dark space that was placed, I assumed, underground. I could hear the whirring of the machine as it fizzled and died. Home, a place I'd long forgotten, yet this place felt nothing like that. I felt like I was an imposter entering a realm I did not belong in.
Stanford and I stood silent. Taking in our surroundings. Unmoved by anything the people standing in the room were saying or doing. That was, till a man in a fez spoke up amongst the group.
“Finally, after all these years long years of waiting, you're actually here! Brother!” The man opened his arms, a goofy grin spread across his face.
Then Stanford punched him square in the face before speaking, “this was an insanely risky move, restarting the portal. Didn't you read my warnings!?”
Never had I seen Stanford so angry. Usually he was calm and collected. Even still, he may have lashed out, but he wasn't yelling, he was calmly speaking down to this man that claimed to be his brother.
“Wranings, schmarnings. How's about maybe a thanks for saving you from what appears to be some sci-fi sideburn dimension.”
“Thank you? You think I'm going to thank you after what you did 30 years ago!?” Stanford raised his voice for the first time since I met him. He always was soft spoken, and kind. Never have I heard someone draw such anger out of him. Not even Bill himself.
Something didn't seem right. The physical confrontation, the yelling. It all screamed something more beyond the surface of what I knew.
Stanford had pinned his brother to the ground after dodging his punches. That's when I noticed the three of us weren't alone. There were three others that joined us in the dark, dingy underground.
“Hey, hi, Mabel here. Quick question, what the heck is going on here?” A girl in a pink hand knitted sweater spoke up.
“Stan, you didn't tell me there were children down here. And some sort of large, hairless gopher.” Stanford quickly gained his composure as he looked between the three people we didn't even notice. The larger man chuckled at Stanford's comment, seeking unphased. I took quick note of this.
“They're your family poindexter. Shermie's grandkids.” Stanford's brother, or Stan as he supposedly goes by, gestured to the two young kids, I'm guessing, were twins.
“I-I have a niece, a nephew?” Stanford's voice turned to one of fondness before he knelt down in front of the girl, Mabel, reaching out to shake her hand, “greetings. Do kids still say greetings? I haven't been in this dimension for a really long time.”
“Woah, a six fingered hand shake, that's one finger friendlier than usual.” Mabel beamed.
Mabel's twin brother, who had been absolutely silent up until now, finally spoke up, “I-I can believe it. You're the author of the journals.” The boy then began to hyperventilate and almost threw up.
This whole thing felt like a lucid dream. I let Stanford get used to the new information he had received. I, on the other hand, had nothing to take in. I again, was lost in the world of unknowns. Maybe I no longer had a home to look for anymore.
“There'll be time for introductions later. But first, tell me Stan, are there any security breaches? Does anyone else know about this portal?”
“No. Just us. Also, maybe the entire US Government.”
“The what!?” Stanford's face was fuming. I never saw him so angry.
They all looked through the window where the security footage showed the government outside searching for Stanford’s brother and the two young kids. Everything was so chaotic right now, which I hoped wouldn’t be the case when we entered our home dimension. I guess chaos followed us wherever we went.
“Okay, it’s alright. We’ve got a while before they find this room. We just need to lay low and think of a plan.” Stanford stated, the calmness returned to his voice as he pulled out the journal he had picked up off the floor, and began to write in it.
“It looks like we’re going to be stuck down here for a while. Who wants to tell us their entire mysterious back story, and also, who is she?” Mabel stated, finally pointing in my direction.
“This is Y/n. She is a friend I met on my travels. Yes, though, I have some questions about all of this myself, Stanley.” Stanford finally introduced me.
Stanley? I had not heard a name like that in 40 years…a name so familiar to me yet so foreign all at the same time. An old friend from home. A friend I left behind all those years ago. There was no way this was the same Stanley. Right?”
“Stanley?” Mabel’s brother asked.
“But your name is Stanford.” Mabel pointed out.
Stanford’s face and mine said it all. What the hell was happening here? What had happened in the time Stanford was gone? Why had his brother assumed his identity? I hoped we both got the answers we needed.
“Wait, you took my name? What have you been doing all these years you knucklehead?” Stanford turned angry again.
Whatever happened between Stanford and his brother, it still hit a nerve with him. Something about Stanley made Stanford’s normal demeanor turn angry. A side I never thought he had. He was cunning for sure, but downright hateful was not on the list of traits I had listed for Stanford.
“”Okay, okay, okay. I know I have a lot of explaining to do. It all started a lifetime ago…” Stanley began telling his version of his life growing up with Stanford to everyone.
As he spoke, things started to piece together slowly in my mind. There was a reason Stanford and I were brought together. The more they spoke the more I connected my life to the eldest Pines twins. I reached into my pocket, there I kept a picture of my dear friend that I left behind. The one person I wanted to get back to the most. Stanley Pine.
“The old me was dead, and I faked a car crash to prove it. By day, I was Stanford Pines, mr. Mystery. But by night, I was down in the basement trying to bring the real Stanford back. I couldn’t risk anyone learning the truth and sabotaging my mission. So, I lied to everyone. The town, my family, your parents. Even you, kids.” Stanley finished his story.
Everyone was so enthralled in the story that the brothers were telling, we all forgot about the government agents upstairs. Dipper, I learned was the name of Mabel’s brother, had a device in his bag that could erase people’s memories. Stanford hooked it up and changed the frequency to sync to radio headsets.
We all plugged our ears as Stanford set the device off. Soon enough the agents were dazed and confused about where they were and what was going on. Stanford greeted them and sent them away, pretending to be a government official.
“Nice work Stanford.” I smiled as I walked up to him.
He smiled and placed a hand on my shoulder, “thank you, Y/n. How are you holding up?”
“I’ve been better. It’ll take some time to adjust, but I feel like I know you better than I did before, and your brother as well.”
“It’ll take us both some time to adjust, but I promise, as soon as we get settled in, and things quiet down, I’ll get you back home where you belong.”
I shake my head, “no. You and I are a team. I’m not leaving your side. Plus,” I pull out the picture of Stanley, “I think my home is here now.”
Stanford took the picture from me, “i-is this?”
I nod, “I didn’t recognize him at first. He’s older now, and with that fez, I couldn’t see his hair, I always said that was his most defining feature.” I laughed softly.
Stanford smiled softly, “I think you should get some rest. You and Stan can discuss this in the morning. I know of a room you can stay in, if it’s still there that is.”
I nod as Stanford leads me inside and to the room that he said used to be his. It consisted of just a couch and wasn’t much, but it was a place to rest my head at night, and probably more comfortable than a cold gravel ground.
I was settling in as I heard the brothers talking. Stanford said that at the end of the summer he was to give him his house back, his name back, and the Mystery Shack business was over with. I could hear the pain in Stan’s voice, and I felt sorry for him, but after what he told us today, I didn’t blame Stanford for being the way he was. Stan hurt him badly, and I didn’t blame Stanford for holding it against his brother
I was finally settled in when Stan knocked on the door. I sat up and invited him in. He had a few more blankets in his hand that he was ready to offer up.
“Y-you settling in okay?” He asked softly.
I nodded and smiled, “as good as one can. It’s been so long since I laid on anything other than the ground in years.”
“Ford tells me you’re originally from this dimension too?”
I nod, “yeah, I’ve been away for I think 40 years…the world definitely seems different now than it did in the 70s.”
“Th-the 70s?”
“Yeah, I know, kind of a while to be away from home. No trace left of me. Nothing left except my failed experiment.”
“Y-you didn’t happen to grow up in New Jersey too, did you?”
“I actually did…” I hesitate whether I should tell him I’m exactly who he thinks I am, but I also didn’t want to assume that’s where he was going, and overwhelm his mind.
Stan just nods and goes to leave. Before he does, he says one final thing, “how is it you haven’t aged a single day, toots?” With that he walked away, closing the door behind him.
