when I started shipping it if I did:

okay. i don't know when. i don't know dates don't ask me about dates. BUT. it was a few years ago bc i think they're cute

my thoughts:

a) i was tired of rich only being shipped with the guys bc bisexuality means both and mlw relationships are just as much a part of bisexuality as mlm or wlw. but also b) the idea of them NOT being paired together in canon was wild to me? like theyre both the "second in commands" to their best friends who are dating. ur telling me they didn't end up on pseudo-double-dates. that they didn't make out at LEAST one time. ur wrong actually.

What makes me happy about them:

they both have. such potential to be so sickeningly cute. the seconds finding solace in each other. forced hangouts while squipped turning into rekindled friendship afterward and then realizing that while their friends were the "couple" that they work better together. brooke loving the more "nerdy" aspects of rich and rich liking her jokes and her passion and her personality sans chloe. look. they have such a potential.

What makes me sad about them:

the entirety of their relationship before the play. like. they don't like each other because they're both pretending to be someone they're not. but once they let themselves be who they actually are, they find they have more in common than just friends. but they dont get that for YEARS so they don't even see it.

things done in fanfic that annoys me:

i haven't read enough of them. shocker. i don't. read a lot of fic actually. but in general i hate when people make rich either a) too much of a dick or b) too much of a. not a goofball. but too. passive? and i hate when people make brooke too passive too. let them be little petty bitches please sir.

things I look for in fanfic:

ideal bich fanfic is them never talking about their feelings because its really fucking complicated, and then something dramatic happens where they have to find solace in each other. i will not say the other thing bc its an idea thats rattling around in my head i kinda wanna write.

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: 

i like brooke with christine and sometimes jeremy, but only in specific circumstances. i don't... love rich with anyone else really? i don't see him as romantic with any of the bmc guys bc of clashes in personality. (not that i don't see him with a guy at all. just not Those Specific Guys.) and the other girls are also incompatible with him imo. tldr brooke is cute with other people, rich is a special case.

My happily ever after for them:

they would have the most fun goofy wedding that all their friends are invited to. i think they'd be that couple who has like 4 dogs of varying sizes that goes on hikes and vacations a lot and posts sappy corny instagram posts of each other. they r the only bmc ship i have that i see getting married.

who is the big spoon/little spoon:

they swap, obviously. two bisexuals in a relationship? they are not making a decision. also they're of similar heights in my head so i think they'd be good.

Okay so today on tumblr I saw a post that said “the unhealthiness in pinkberry never being addressed is bad.” And in a way, I agree.

I don’t have an issue with someone saying that the unhealthiness with Brooke x Chloe should be addressed but I raise you this.

Every single be more chill ship is unhealthy except Jenna and Christine and some random other smaller ships.

So why does everyone only ever single out Chloe and Brooke when talking about unhealthiness in be more chill ships?

Boyf riends is unhealthy. First of all Jeremy just dropping Micheal whenever he wanted and not apologising unless he needed something but still being immediately forgiven? Not healthy.

Richjake is unhealthy. I love richjake but I really don’t need to go into the millions of reasons why they’d both need therapy before they can date.

Expensive headphone / rich x Jeremy (I forget the ship name) is unhealthy. I fucking hate the bully x victim trope it doesn’t make sense in any way and I know rich is different without the Squip but my point still stands.

Fucking stage dorks is unhealthy. Again, I love stagedorks when done right but they should never have ended up together. Jeremy drugging her, not taking no for an answer, never apologised and still deciding to shoot his shot and somehow she says yes?? Not super healthy in my book.

I just think it’s very interesting that the only major wlw ship in the fandom is hated on constantly for being toxic but so many of the mlm ships are just as toxic (some worse) and no one ever says anything about them.

I don’t want to chalk it up to misogyny but based on the hate Chloe gets for “being a horrible person” when it’s really not deserved at all and both rich and jeremy did worse things, it’s not looking great. (I could defend Chloe and talk about the misogyny in this fandom for hours but I’ll save that for another essay.)

This is no hate to the person who said the original statement this is constructive criticism to everyone.

If you wanna say pinkberry is toxic that’s fine but that means you have to admit almost every ship in bmc is toxic.

And if you can’t ship pinkberry because it’s toxic but you ship boyf riends, richjake etc, it’s time to look inwards.

anyways everyone else is talking abt royal pains BUT. okay. 

brooke n rich end up alone together more often than not. jake and chloe disappear to make out or fuck or argue or whatever else they do. rich and brooke end up sitting with each other in restaurants.

at first its awkward. its somehow worse than third wheeling, because neither of them know each other. they’re both the second in command, the less attractive one. and they’re under the assumption their best friends are getting it on in the roller rink bathroom.

but they start talking, a little. brooke likes that rich is funny. rich likes that brooke isn’t too annoying. they don’t talk much, only when they’re left to themselves, but they talk. rich is usually pulled away by his squip before they can be too close. dating brooke is below his popularity level. 

the squip is deactivated, and jake and chloe fall apart. but jake doesn’t visit, not when rich is awake. the guilt is too hard, his ego is too bruised, but still too big. but brooke does visit. 

rich wakes up to see not the person who he thought was his best friend, but to brooke lohst, with a handmade card and wilted flowers. (she apologizes for the flowers, but she didn’t know what else to get. rich cries and they both pretend he doesn’t.) 

rich asks her why she’s there, why she’d ever want to be near him. she tells him she’s “his friend” and rich doesn’t realize. 

somewhere, they were friends, in an odd, awkward way. friends by default, by sitting at tables and on benches while their other friends disappear. 

brooke is the one who asks him to hang out first. she’s lonely, and chloe hasn’t been talking to her. they hang out, and its weird. the brooke asks about the squip, and everything comes falling out. rich didn’t realize that brooke was the person he needed to talk to about this. and she understands. (not entirely, but she gets being controlled for popularity, the emotions of inferiority. she understands, a little.)

and they’re- friends. they hang out, they eat lunch together. rich shaves the side of her head when she’s having a breakdown once and won’t take no for an answer. rich crashes on brooke’s couch on the days when his home is bad (and her parents insist that he stays right where he is, and he hadn’t really thought about THAT until now, but brooke is sweet and nice and funny and a little crude sometimes and it’s nice. he likes it.)

and then one day he doesn’t stay right where he is, he sneaks upstairs to her room, and she laughs at him a little when he gets embarrassed. but they’re alone together because they want to be, not just because they have to be.

least favorite thing about them — the usual things of just how she was to Jeremy and Brooke. Her being mean specifically I feel like is too broad as she is supposed to be a mean girl so I think I’ll just go with those

However I really like when people write chloe redemption arcs and how they expand and explore her friendship with Brooke it’s really interesting to me! Like they’ve known each other for a million bajillion years and how that plays into how they are with each other and Chloe actually learning how to properly listen to Brooke makes me happy

OTP — I like Chloe/Christine, once again big fan of chloe redemption and they’re each other’s opposites. I also ship her with Nicole because I got bored and made a version of Nicole for the BMC musical as some people do
