part of me can't wait to write the reputation stain'd scene in this fic
mostly because im basing their production of r&j on the one i saw and im giving brooke's tybalt a baseball bat
#lohst.txt#bapo au#brooke and jake are doing the fight scene#brooke with her bat and jake with a wrench#choreo goes as normal#then brooke gets too reckless. maybe she hits the wrench so hard it makes a dent#before brooke throws the bat to the side with a clang when reyes tells them to knock it off#does brooke really want to hurt jake? not really but god she feels like it#shes mad at chloe shes mad at jake. shes mad at herself but she doesnt want to admit that and she doesnt want to be mad at chloe#its just so easy to place all her anger on jake#half of these kids have like a lot of internalised homophobia#jake rich brooke michael#all of them probably have catholic guilt to some degree#while brooke is fuming and mad at jake#jake has never been truly mad at her until she insults him. of course she doesnt back down#will that scene actually turn out like that?#i dont actually know#we'll see how it goes#we're gonna have more brooke in denial about her crush on chloe in the next chapter#look im just in love with basically everything from my local summer shakespeare production of romeo and juliet#everything was absolutely stunning#and i will rave about it so much

All BMC Hidden Song Motifs
These are all the little tunes I’ve noticed sneakily (or not so sneakily) appearing outside of their own songs in the show!
I did leave out the ones that are obviously the same because they repeat the lyrics (e.g. c-c-c-come on, it’s from Japan, etc), but I can add those too if enough people want.
If you have more, tell me and I'll add them! And if you have thoughts on why any of these appear where they do, pls post about it so I can read more meta sdjlkfsdjflk
More Than Survive:
Smartphone Hour chorus on synth during Jenna, Brooke, Chloe’s conversation [credit: @zabala0z]
Michael in the Bathroom chorus on synth during Jeremy & Michael’s conversation
The Pants Song: chorus melody on guitar when Michael talks about "survival of the fittest" [credit: @aqueous-aerolite - tysm for IDing it!]
(Broadway) MTS reprise
Jeremy’s Theme at the end
Two Player Game
In scene: Michael in the Bathroom chorus on synth during their first exchange (“He’s scamming you super weirdly.”)
The Squip Enters
The Squip Song melody on synth right before the SQUIP appears: Helps you to be cooooool…. It helps… youuuu… [“Welcome to your Super Quantum Unit Intel Processor! Your SQUIP.”] ~~Ruuuuuuuule!~~
(Two Rivers) More Than Survive Reprise
Michael in the Bathroom on synth while the Squip scolds Jeremy for thinking about sex. (Still mostly inexplicable, but it’s technically a reuse of the dialogue music from More Than Survive, of which the only synth options were Smartphone Hour and Michael in the Bathroom.)
Michael’s reggae motif from More Than Survive at “Still not gonna be the cool guy”
(Broadway) Sync Up
The Squip Song: intro guitar riff plays when Rich talks to Jeremy
More Than Survive: MTS background chorus sings (‘na na na na na na na na’) with “ah”s in the musical interlude, then with “na”s at the end.
Guy that I’d Kinda Be Into
I Love Play Rehearsal: “I don’t always relate to other people my age” section is the same as “Most people do one thing for all of their lives” - the following lines match lyrics too.
More Than Survive: Christine’s bassline rhythm from the recurring motif of “Christine Christine Christine” (i.e. dotted quarter, eighth, half), originally from MTS, reappears during GTIKBI in the chorus, as well as the “I don’t always relate…” and “I guess a part of me likes to” sections.
Loser Geek Whatever
Two Player Game: the intro (“I already know what it’s like to be the loser”) is sung to the same melody as the main synth loop you can hear at the beginning of 2PG [credit: someone on the Genius page]
Touching My Hand: Not technically a motif, but I want to point out that the pre-chorus of LGW comes from Touching My Hand, a demo song that never made it into the show.
Michael in the Bathroom
(?) Knocking section could kind of evoke the staccato quarters that happen all throughout Halloween (eg, crank! the! bass!, and dunh dunh dunh it's halloween)
The Pants Song
(Broadway) “Michael in the Bathroom” on guitar when Michael says “Look, I already tried to help him, and called me a loser…” (THIS is hands down my favorite one btw. It’s one of the most obvious but that doesn’t stop it from stabbing me in the heart every time…)
The Play
Be More Chill: bass & guitar riff play when the Squip’s revealing its plan to infect humanity.
Jake enters: Jeremy’s Theme, then Upgrade
Chloe & Brooke enter: Do You Wanna Ride
Michael makes an ennnntraaaaance! (Michael in the Bathroom)
Two Player Game: pre-chorus during Michael and Jeremy’s fight (“kung fu fists, activate!”) - and of course again the verse during their fight for the Dew.
Jenna enters: Smartphone Hour (the opening brass thumps)
Christine enters: I Love Play Rehearsal on flute - then she sings an altered version of GTIKBI
“Jeremy, Jeremy, Jeremy” is the same tune as “Christine, Christine, Christine.” (This one makes me go nuts actually. Like, that’s his deepest desire??? He just wants someone to love him as powerfully as he loves Christine????? AUUGH!!!!)
Loser Geek Whatever: verse melody plays on brass when he gives the Dew to Christine
Voices in My Head
Loser Geek Whatever: verse melody on piano during Christine and Jeremy’s conversation.
Guy That I’d Kinda Be Into: When Christine gives her answer about going out with him, they sing to the GTIKBI chorus melody, and a flute plays the GTIKBI bridge melody (“I guess a part of me likes to”). Then when Christine says yes, it plays that bridge melody on piano.
ALSO: Overall character instruments?
Christine: flute & mallet percussion (i.e. glockenspiel, xylophone)
SQUIP: plucked guitar with tremolo, tubular bells. Edit: also the theremin [credit: @highlighter-goblin!]
(?) Rich: strummed guitar with distortion (Squip Song, Sync Up)
(?) Chloe & Brooke: plucked guitar with a Wah-wah pedal (DYWR/H)
(?) Jenna: low brass on staccato quarter notes
Yeah that's all I know of so far, but like I said please add on if you can think of more!!
#be more chill#bmc#jeremy heere#michael mell#im just tagging those two bc main character and guy whose motif plays like EVERY OTHER SONG#posts#text#ref#meta#like the littlest amount of meta i guess#everyone#my meta

ahem. After some deep introspection, I have decided it is long past time to share the details of my absolutely horrid pjo au. Long post, I apologize, but I've been dramatically playing sudoku while plotting this out for far too long and the world simply must know every terrible thought I've been thinking. I start by giving all their godly parents then I just list off awesome little headcanons/scenes. there's no plot. it changes daily, depending on my sudoku game.
Godly parents:
Jeremy Heere - Apollo. I've seen a lot of content of him as a son of Demeter and honestly, half of me agrees with you. But when I put him into the actual plot, he always ends up playing the role of an Apollo kid. His social anxiety means he prefers fighting from a distance (archery) and I always imagined him as the healer of the group. Not in a metaphorical or emotional sense (that's Brooke), just that Jeremy can find his friends after the battle and help them. This also fits with my personal headcanon that Jake and Jeremy dislike each other---of course they do, Jeremy needs Jake to trust him in order to properly treat him, and Jake hates that this acquaintance expects Jake to trust him.
Michael Mell - Hades. He's interested in 'dead' trends. Ha, get it? Right? No, but also the fact he's a loser and has just come to accept it. People won't let him into their groups no matter how sweet he is because there's something about him that just doesn't fit in, and that's the fact he will gladly tread on the edge of death. He controls it. (the dead trends is the main thing tho ngl)
Christine Canigula - Poseidon. I know technically Dionysus makes more sense, but despite what many may think, I actually associate her more with the ocean than I do anyone else. She's dramatic, she's breathtaking. She can destroy you if she so pleases, but by god she doesn't want to. She's gentle and blue and beautiful. Most importantly, though, she reflects. She reflects the stars in the night sky like she reflects Ophelia's sadness. She reflects the adrenaline rush a surfer desires just as she reflects the desperation and adventurous youth in Juliet.
Rich Goranski - Zeus. Two reasons: Instinctively my brain went to Ares and Hephaestus, but no. Absolutely not. Hephaestus is an absolute no because Rich is not the fire Rich is not the fire Rich is not the fire. Ares is a bit more questionable because, in the pjo world, Ares is pure anger and spite and ego and his kids tend to reflect the same personality traits and god, Rich already does that in the canon world. It's implied his father is abusive and you know what? This is an au. I'm still giving him a shitty father but I am not giving him Ares, the god of War. I chose Zeus because a) plot. His being able to fly is incredibly important to many, many scenes in this mental fic and b) I like the idea of him holding the aura of a king. Not necessarily a leader, that's Jake, but he can walk with a self-entitlement that drives you to trust him even as he's rash and dangerous. His feelings are lightning bolt strong; quick, breathtaking, deadly, flashy. Storms follow him when he's sad and thunder roars when he's angry. He doesn't crave violence in the way a kid of Ares would, but he often ends up causing it anyway.
Jake Dillinger - Aphrodite. This one's always been obvious to me. Jake's main thing is charm---I mean, Model UN, talking his way into a relationship with Christine. He's well-liked and hot. His parents being criminals in the canon world means he's probably accustomed to lying and twisting others' words against them. AKA, he talks and seduces so no one will see his flaws or insecurities, just as any kid of Aphrodite learns to do. Also I did give him charm speak and I took away the whole thing about needing to be attracted to him for it to work because Jake's got that kind of charm where adults like him too much (not in a sexual way, I mean in a he's just so easy to deal with kind of way) and I feel like he'd just make it work on anyone. (also you'll see why Chloe isn't the kid of Aphrodite in a moment)
Chloe Valentine - Unclaimed. I already posted about this a while ago. She already grew up insecure but loud. Then she got to camp and paraded around the fact she was probably a kid of Aphrodite or Zeus for weeks. No one claimed her. She stayed in the Hermes cabin even as she integrated herself into the Aphrodite crowd, painting herself to be beautiful and snarky until people began to forget she was just an unwanted kid. She lashes out to hide it, sure, but it's mostly because she feels so isolated and alone, and she's convinced that if she screams loud enough, bites hard enough, that her victims will feel the same terrible loneliness she does. Realistically, she's probably a child of Hecate.
Brooke Lohst - Athena. I think it's probably the blonde thing, but I'm going to pretend it's not. I've always imagined her as so introspective and deep. You can look at her and just know there's so much more going on underneath the surface. She knows you and she knows herself more than you could ever hope to. People often forget how smart she is because, for starters, she's always overshadowed by Chloe. Mostly, though, it's because she's so soft. She lacks the pride of most Athena kids. She'll smile like sunlight and laugh like wind chimes and flit from place to place like a breeze-blown cherry blossom dancing to the ground. Her? A strategist? A warrior? It doesn't make sense until you hurt someone she loves. She honed that sweetness. She fought for it. She bled to make sure her friends experienced that gentle kind of love and if you take that from them she will trick you into tearing yourself limb from limb and she will smile as you do it.
Jenna Rolan - Hermes. Duh. She's a messenger, she's a traveler. Important note about travelers, though, is that the second they leave, their existence is usually forgotten. She walks into a room, declares her purpose and her message, and the second she steps out it's as if she was never there. Is it because she's fast? Because she never tells details about herself, only others? You don't know. She doesn't know---no mater how many nights she overthinks it and questions it, she doesn't understand why she's nothing but a shadow to everyone else.
Favorite Headcanons:
the main reason Rich is a son of Zeus is because I have a very clear image in my head of the eight of them on the Argo II or this au's version of it and the scene starts with Jake just barreling down a hallway and onto the main deck screaming his ass off and Jeremy's chasing after him, red-faced and angrier than anyone has ever seen him and Jake yells Rich's name and then just. Jumps off the ship and into the clouds. Ofc Rich like summons a cloud to catch him, and in the distance you can hear Jeremy, who just found out Jake hooked up with Michael their second night on the ship, "YOU CAN'T HAVE THEM BOTH. NO. IT'S NOT FAIR. ONE OR THE FUCKING OTHER. YOU CANNOT HAVE EVERY SINGLE PERSON I LIKE JAKE WHY????"
Oftentimes being a demigod comes with trusting only yourself, which means Jeremy has to work hard to get any of his patients to really come to him when they're injured and in this world, everyone was kind of separated before into groups (either two or three) and jake and rich were together so there's obviously a level of trust between them Jeremy simply can't get between, and at one point Chloe gets injured and Brooke tries to take care of her (stealing medical supplies from Jeremy) but, despite being smart, she's not a medic, and at it's the middle of the night and Brooke shows up at Jeremy's room with a half-unconscious Chloe in her arms begging for help and of course, Jeremy provides it, but then he just. Goes fucking off on Brooke. And it's so important because Jeremy is quiet and anxious, but "I am the medic here. I can take care of him. No, no, it's not just that I can. It's an obligation. it's my fucking job, Rich. That is all I can bring to this team. I'm a fucking coward. I would rather die than put myself into a battle, so it's my fucking job to pick up the pieces when you all come back bruised and battered, and you stole that from me. You took all I had left. If she dies, that's on me. Only me. It doesn't matter if he was in your care or someone else's, it's my job." Anywho, after that they routinely check up on Jeremy to make sure he's mentally okay.
Everyone capitalizes on Christine's ability to talk to fish just because it's so entertaining. They're in the middle of a quest but they're all so exhausted they stop at an aquarium and spend six hours sitting in front of a single tank of lame fish while Christine acts out the conversations between them and they're all deliriously relieved to be there.
Jake, Brooke, and Rich are the most dangerous team to go up against. Brooke can think of the right plan, the right words for Jake to say, and Jake can say her words to charm speak their enemy into destroying themselves. And Rich is there to physically support them both---Jake can always jump slightly too high because the wind is on his side and Brooke is slightly faster than her opponents because, for some reason, air resistance doesn't apply to her.
I noted earlier that they were all separated into small groups at the beginning and were forcibly united for their quest. Jenna was the only one of them alone, and Christine and Brooke both work so hard to eventually make her feel welcome on the ship with everyone else
So Jake is a child of Aphrodite, right? at one point there's a mini-quest they have to go on and the group decides it's smartest for Michael, Jake, and Jeremy to go. Jake immediately turns to Chloe with puppy dog eyes like "PLEASE, CHLOE, PLEASE TAKE MY PLACE" and she's like dude. no. no one likes being alone with them, it's barely even third wheeling. they make you feel like you aren't even a wheel. and Jake's like "YOU THINK IT'S BAD FOR YOU?? I'M A CHILD OF APHRODITE, CHLOE, I CAN PHYSICALLY FEEL THE PINING BETWEEN THEM" and that's how Chloe is convinced to go on a quest alone with Jeremy and Michael. It's miserable.
Jake won't charm speak his friends, which is why he had to actually convince Chloe to go on that quest. The reason why is so sad and traumatic I'm not going to add it to this post because most of these headcanons have been relatively amusing, but it's bad enough that on some days he's selectively mute (that's the right term, right?) just in case he accidentally charm speaks one of them. He and Rich can communicate in rudimentary sign language.
Rich is most skilled at fist fighting. Like yeah, he could use a sword or knife, but he's super super dangerous just with his fists.
And finally, because it's 11:15 and I have a test tomorrow: Brooke had a crush on Christine for the longest time and I have a very clear image in my head of them hanging out together under the argo II on the ocean under the stars and Brooke hesitantly confesses her feelings and Christine rejects her because she's ace and heteroromantic but she still hugs Brooke and is the sweetest person ever about it. She checks up on Brooke, lets Brooke set all the boundaries between them, and eventually, after a month or so, Brooke has to be like "Christine, I'm okay. I had a crush on you, I wasn't in love. You can stop now." and Christine is so fucking happy because she's been trying to distance herself from Brooke to give her time to heal and now she can have one of her best friends back!!!

T&B2 Thoughts: Episode 12 – Man's extremity is God's opportunity.
Fasten your seatbelts, kiddos, it’s gonna be a bumpy ride.
- The show’s apology for putting us through all the heartbreak of the last episode is this scene: Kotetsu literally running into the hospital room and this soft fucking look on his face when he sees Barnaby sitting up and talking to him. I’m fine!! I’m completely normal about this!
- Let's also consider how vastly different this is from the last time Kotetsu got a call about someone he loved in the hospital. He is extremely, extremely aware of how easily this could have gone the other way.
- The hug-blocking is hilarious. Poor Kotetsu; HE JUST WANTS TO SHOW HIS LOVE. Why won’t his people let him hug them!!
- Also love how he thinks that changing the position of his arms will somehow get Bunny to let him through.
- Although seriously, can you imagine Barnaby waking up like this? The last thing he remembers is the art museum and now he's seeing that seven of their friends have been taken out. Do you think he wondered if Kotetsu was one of them before he saw Kotetsu run into his hospital room? Even if Mattia could assure him that Kotetsu had been okay earlier that day, seeing that Stern Bild is down to five heroes, including himself, and having no idea which ones...
- Barnaby clearly recognizes Audun's name when the twins use it, and it's interesting that they flash to his reaction in the middle of this video. Like, is it just because he’s aware of Audun as someone who probably knows the history of Hero TV? But then, Kotetsu is the Legend fan, and I feel like he would have a better working knowledge of Legend’s exploits, including his rival. So why Barnaby’s reaction here?
- BARNABY BROOKS JUNIOR YOU JUST GOT OUT OF A TWO-WEEK COMA THE HELL DO YOU MEAN "TRUST US WITH THIS BATTLE"
- What in heaven's name does this Little Aurora and the Hope book have to do with Ouroboros's plan? And why are they trying to show how dangerous the NEXT are? Are they trying to fuel the anti-NEXT discrimination and if so, why did they work with Maverick in the past, when his goal was to use Hero TV to help people overcome their fears about NEXT? Why did they let someone like Jake into their organization, who wanted to create a NEXT utopia? What were the other stages of their plan? I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS.
- Uuuugh this conversation with Barnaby and Kotetsu as they’re suiting up is just another sign of how far they've come since they met. Before, Barnaby might have lied to Kotetsu and said he was fine, but now he's honest about the fact that he isn't okay.
- They both know this fight is going to be the hardest they've faced in a while (possibly ever) and it's just them: Kotetsu, the oldest of the heroes who can only use his power for one minute; Barnaby, who just got out of a 10-day coma, and the three rookie heroes, all of whom are under 18 and all of whom have only been heroes for about four months, and one of whom has a power that doesn't work when she's scared. They're about to go through it, but if they don't...their friends will stay petrified and their city will be at risk from criminals moving in because they know the heroes can't stop them.
- "Okay, Tiger, you outline what's going on, and Black, you just get in the camera and try to piss them off." A simple but effective plan!
- Barnaby gets out of breath running across the stadium, which is not good. But I will never be over how they manage to show us how worried Kotetsu is immediately after, even though we can’t see his face. It’s just another hint about how hard this upcoming fight’s going to be.
- This scene, oh my gosh. People get excited to see Barnaby and have their phones out to film, even when he's telling them it's dangerous and they need to leave. But as soon as Kotetsu tells them to back off because they don't want anybody to get hurt, the people leave. There’s a post on this site somewhere that says this season, people treat Barnaby as a heartthrob but Kotetsu as a hero, and that’s never as clear as it is in this scene.
- And boy, are we glad the people leave, because this is a rough, rough fight, and the heroes are Struggling. Can you imagine them trying to fight the twins while also protecting dozens of people? There’s not a way in hell.
- Okay for most of this season, they've done a pretty good job about blending the 2D and 3D animation, but the bit where the twins are kicking Thomas is one of the few places it looks a little janky.
- Barnaby gets out of the hospital and immediately goes to fight bad guys, Mattia gets out of the hospital and immediately sneaks into his workplace to figure out what the fuck Ouroboros is doing. Because they both have the self-preservation instincts of a lemming.
- Hmm yeah somehow I don't think this is going to go well for you, lady.
- Kotetsu literally picking up Fugan and running, trying to hold them back and trying not to attack. Because of course he's going to throw himself into the line of fire to protect the others, especially the younger heroes. He's got his power and his suit and he's fucking durable, he's making the gamble that he can take what they dish out.
- And he really does; he holds his own and he doesn’t throw a single punch until Fugan has him trapped and it’s literally the only move he can make.
- And, like with Jake, Kotetsu actually lands a hit when no one else has.
- And, like with Jake, Fugan makes him pay for it.
- Oh good, we haven't heard Barnaby scream Kotetsu's name Like That yet this season, we were missing that.

So I've been reading your superb Brucas posts and LOVED your choices for your three favorite scenes (82 letters, Pretty Girl/Crazy Girl, and obviously the rain speech is epic!) But I have to nominate the S2 scene where Lucas surprises Brooke, aka the girl behind the red door, with a new home in OTH. Lucas: "I wasn't ready to lose you." Brooke: "I wasn't ready to be lost." Me: *cries for all of eternity* I so enjoyed your followers' UOs about OTH and your responses to them. I guess my biggest unpopular opinion is that S2 is my favorite of the series - it's amazing seeing Brucas as an actual couple for most of S3 and nice to see Naley officially reunited, but S2 highlights this really unique, special connection Brooke and Lucas have as they get to know each other on a deeper level. They have such an emotional, soulful connection - S2 forever dispels the myth that Brucas is just about fun and sexual attraction. Jeyton also makes S2 special to me. Just as Brooke makes Lucas so much happier (and likable!) by taking him out of his head and Lucas grounds Brooke and lets her be more serious, vulnerable, etc., Jake makes Peyton SO much happier and more likable to me than she is at any other point in the series, while Peyton brings out the side of naturally sweet, conflict averse Jake who's ready to fight (for custody, for what he believes in) etc. The fact that these two pairings weren't endgame is TV malpractice!!! And I'll be even more unpopular by adding that while I get why Naley fans dislike S2 and I do enjoy Naley together, Nathan is at his most layered and interesting this season because they're apart, and their angst also gives us some of Bethany Joy Lenz's most perfect acting. Add in some of the most hilariously campy Dan scenes and the fact that overall I like Breyton's dynamic in S2 a lot more than I do any other season, and S2 is just my special favorite. Bet you'll never guess who this is ;)
Hey! Thanks for the message and I agree, painting the red door should be on that list, I just didn't think of it at the time, which sometimes happens when I make lists ;)
I also understand why season 2 would be your favourite season for all of the reasons you just said -- I especially like their connection through her campaign, I'm not sure if you've seen my reviews of the show during my rewatch -- there is a lot of great Brucas content in season 2 and the most I believe Breyton is in that season as well and of course Jeyton.
It's also interesting rewatching season 2 Naley because out of all of the storylines, it's the one that feels the most immediate to me, like, with Brucas and Jeyton, I think because I've spoken a lot about them and how they don't end up together, I just watch it and keep going, you undid all of this for LEYTON so I'm just prepared for the inevitable whereas with Naley, while I know everything is going to work out with them, Haley's motivations bother me and so I watch it like, I know it's all going to work out but I don't think I would stick around if I was Nathan because Haley is pretty shitty in season 2 because she is the one who made it music or Nathan, Nathan was entirely supportive of the whole thing, he just didn't like Chris, which is fair so I watch it like I forgot how much I hated Haley this season, haha.

In the Pale Moonlight
I love Benjamin's pillows
I know in real life they have to, but do Star Trek counselors have to report it if you kill someone?
They should get involved bc the Dominon will obviously come for them next
I love Dax
I think using up all your favors at home is worth not being conquered by the Dominon, Garak
Can Betazoids not read Jem'hadar or Vorta? Seems difficult to conquer telepaths
I like Garak's outfit here
Garak said Beta Zed
This guy's gross. It would have been fun if Julian's friend Felix were capable of forgery
I can't believe Quark tried to protect one of his employees from sexual harassment. Guess the union's going great
A baseball card costs 5 bars of latinum, and that's what Quark's willing to accept to ignore attempted murder?
Fuck, everytime Avery Brooks gets breathy it hits hard
Isn't biomimetic gel what dude who put Julian in a coma was after?
I still don't underestimate how Romulus doesn't know their sun is going to supernova soon. It seems like something people with the tech to turn invisible would be able to detect. You'd think the Federation would be able to just offer red matter/evacuation aid in exchange for help in the war
Sir, you tried to assault a dabo girl and stabbed a bartender
Did they build a shuttle bay just for this scene?
I went to Memory Alpha to see if they said what was used as the Romulan drink since it looks like blue gatorade, and they didn't have it, but they have the sentence "Fields's original premise revolved around Jake "watergating" First Minister Shakaar."
Weyoun said thrrrrust
"It's a faaake" was way quiter than I remembered
I'm not saying murder is okay, but how many Jem'hadar has Benjamin ordered the deaths of? And the murder of one Romulan sends him spiraling? It's not like the Jem'hadar even willingly sign up to fight, so you can't say they made their own choices getting involved in the war
*sits in bisexual*
Great episode. Can't believe it's followed up by kiraodo trash. 10/10

suitcase of memories, almost left behind
title: suitcase of memories, almost left behind fandom: Tiger and Bunny pairing: Barnaby/Kotetsu word count: 2890 summary: flung back and forth through time by a NEXT’s power, Kotetsu views memories of his past...but also of his future--a future with Barnaby?
For the March Flash fiction eleventh prompt: "You remembered?” and twelfth prompt: an anomalous time event
“Get away from me!” the NEXT, a middle-aged woman, screamed.
Kotetsu, hands raised in an attempt to show he meant no harm, tried to make a calming gesture. “Lady, ma’am, we’re not here to hurt you. We’re here to help.” He’d taken an right turn into the alleys, while Barnaby had swung left, and he could hear approaching footsteps. “Hey, hey, it’s all right. We know you haven’t done anything wrong. That power’s probably really surprising to you, yeah? Didn’t expect it to show up when you’re our age, right?”
The dark-haired woman continued to back away, eyes wide with fear, almost crying, “I don’t, I— I try to stop it but it keeps happening! Why won’t it stop?”
She’d backed into a dead end, the road cutting off between the back entrances of two shops, and Kotetsu tried to scoot just a bit closer, but as she backed away in response, she thumped against the wall behind her and startled, then gestured frantically at Kotetsu with a panicked shout.
A wall of invisible force slammed into him, and distantly he heard her yell, “Get away!” as he went flying, tumbling dizzily head over heels until he slammed hard into something with a crunch of metal and glass.
Head spinning, Kotetsu pushed himself upright only to jerk to a stop, mouth agape, as he stared around him. The alleys, the building, the car he’d no doubt crashed into, all of it was gone—and he was in a classroom, looking at himself, and Tomoe? They were high school aged, and she was in glasses, and the way the younger him was smirking at her, he’d no doubt just called her by that nickname she’d disliked so much—well, there’d been two, Ms.Class Rep and Ms. Glasses, and she’d gotten so annoyed at both. What the hell…? Wait, was this the first time he’d told her about wanting to be a Hero?
A blink, and suddenly he was at the factory where he’d fought Antonio, where he’d saved Tomoe from the fire, that time she’d decided his Hero name should Tiger—and where he’d first called her by her first name, even if she’d socked him hard in the stomach for doing so.
More scenes came them, like he was hopping from place to place, faster and faster. Their first date, when they’d moved in together, when they’d moved to Sternbild, their wedding day. When he was hired by Top MaG, the first time he officially acted as a Hero and appeared on Hero TV. Kotetsu covered his eyes, truly dizzy. It was like a slide show gone wild, like countless film reels were unspooling before his yes.
A weird hiccup noise, and everything paused. It was a sunny day by the hospital, and he saw himself helping Tomoe from the wheel chair the nurses had brought her down to the entrance in, nestling her carefully into the passenger seat of the car. Wait, wasn’t this—? Then he could see into the backseat of the vehicle, where an infant seat had been strapped in securely.
“Kaede,” he murmured, tears springing to his eyes. She was so tiny. Could he hold her, just for a little bit?
But then like a snap, it was all gone, and he was flying through visions again: Kaede’s first word, the day she started to walk, the time he finally became King of Heroes, event after event, memory after memory—
And then suddenly he was falling—right into Barnaby Brooks Jr.’s arms. Or, the version of himself Kotetsu was watching did.
More and more followed—Kotetsu’s first day with the new company, that first day they were assigned to be partners; Barnaby saving Kaede, abruptly switching to when he saved Barnaby by jumping in front of Lunatic’s fire bolt; healing himself after the fight with Jake Martinez and racing to help Barnaby, arriving just in time to catch his partner as he nearly crumpled; the very first time Barnaby called him Kotetsu.
Then came the absolute agony of fighting with Barnaby, and he felt all over again the utter desolation when nothing he did brought back Barnaby’s memories of him, but also the overwhelming joy when calling him Bunny made his partner finally remember.
Kotetsu watched himself at the moment he’d realized how he felt about his partner, watched his own face as he was nearly overwhelmed by the intensity of his feelings, struggling by the immensity of it all. Then watched himself mentally box it up and stash it away after finding out about Maverick kidnapping Kaede and the other Heroes. He remembered thinking back then that he could wait to break down about it later—only to accept that there would be no later when he sacrificed himself to help Barnaby defeat the robot Wild Tiger, doing whatever was necessary to save the city, his daughter, his friends, the man he loved, even if it meant…. And then he saw himself inexplicably surviving, and finally saving his little girl.
He saw then the first day of his retirement, saw himself walking away from Barnaby, remembering how he swore to give his partner the chance to focus on himself for once, to finally live a life that was free, that was his.
And then he saw his first day back as a Hero, watched himself fall into Barnaby’s arms again, watched them become partners again. At last.
Time suddenly rocketed forward, as if Kotetsu was launched from a sling shot, he shouted in alarm but he couldn’t hear a thing, and these weren’t memories anymore.
Scenes flashed before his eyes: his first date with Barnaby (?!), when he first said I love you to the other man (!!), when Barnaby first said I love you back (!!!), moving in together, then an image of each of them in matching grey tuxes at their wedding.
“What? What?” He was yelling without a voice, he was heaving for breath, so, so very dizzy, stomach swooping with shock and amazement (and awe and wonder and what could be…!)
He was ass on the pavement in some dusty back alley, laid out flat in his hero suit in the midst of metal debris and safety glass. And someone one was shaking him, calling his name. “Wild Tiger! Kotetsu! Kotetsu, wake up!”
Kotetsu blinked, then shot to a sitting position with a deep gasp, nearly slamming into Barnaby as he did so.
“Is she okay?” he demanded, wobbling as he tried to get to his feet. Barnaby grasped his hand and pulled him to a standing position, steadying him, his eyes scanning every detail of Kotetsu’s face with laser focus.
“Are you okay? Kotetsu…?”
Kotetsu patted Barnaby reassuringly with his free hand, scanning the people milling around in search of the NEXT. “I’m fine, I’m fine.” Then he spotted the woman a short distance away, flanked by Sky High and Blue Rose, and being eyed warily by a nearby cluster of police. “Hey! Don’t apprehend her! She wasn’t being aggressive, she hasn’t learned to control her powers yet and I scared her. It’s my fault!”
The woman, who still looked almost like she was cowering, straightened and stared at him, then her face crumpled and her eyes filled. “I’m so sorry.” Her voice wavered. “I’m so, so sorry. I don’t mean for this to happen. I can’t make it stop.”
“Your powers, they’re time related, right?”
Swallowing, she nodded jerkily, lip wobbling. “I. Yes. Sort of. I can make people see memories. Or, they for an instant go back in time? But it comes out like, like a blast? I don’t mean to hurt anyone. But I can’t hold it back, it just happens.”
“You’ll be all right,” Sky High comforted the woman. “We’ll help you, and you’ll be okay!”
“Excuse me folks, pardon me, can I get through,” Ben’s voice came from behind the officers, and they parted to let him through. “Ma’am, I’m Ben Jackson, with Apollon Media. And no, I’m not trying to pressure you into a job, I just oversee these guys.” He gestured with his thumb towards Kotetsu and Barnaby. “But I am here to help you. If you’d like to come back to our offices, we can discuss assisting you in finding resources to help you as a new NEXT. The Hero Academy generally is for younger people, but they do have instruction for adult NEXTs, even older adults, and we can put you in contact with them.”
The woman looked around her, glanced over at Kotetsu who gave her a thumbs up. “He’s right,” Kotetsu called out. “A little training, and that blast will be just a breeze. And you could help so many people with that power.”
“Help people? Do you really think so?”
“Yeah, like folks with Alzheimers or senility, elderly people? You could help them see all their treasured memories, even the things they’ve forgotten.” Kotetsu saw the woman straighten, could almost see the curiosity and confidence coming back to her.
Barnaby added, “Or you could help those with amnesia or other brain traumas regain their memories.” His partner was still grasping Kotetsu’s hand, so he gave it a bolstering squeeze. Of course, this would be something Barnaby would find personally affecting. It had been a handful of years since Maverick, but Kotetsu knew the younger man still struggled at times with what had been done to him. Powers like these could have helped him so much back then, when truth and reality battled behind Barnaby’s eyes—and in his nightmares—against Maverick’s brainwashing and lies.
“Yes. I. I would like that, very much.” The woman nodded to Kotetsu and Barnaby, then turned to Ben. “My name is Anvi Mangal. Please, I want to be able to help others, not hurt them.”
Gradually the crowd disbursed. Ben escorted Ms. Mangal to his vehicle, and Sky High and Blue Rose departed with a salute and a wave.
Barnaby turned his attention once again to Kotetsu. He carefully removed Kotetsu’s helmet, pressing gentle fingers to the sides and back of Kotetsu’s head. “You’re certain you’re all right,” he asked.
“Yeah, yeah, I just was stunned.” Kotetsu rapped a knuckle against his temple lightly. “Got my bell rung, is all. Mostly it was just being inundated with a few decades worth of memories,” he shrugged.
“What did you see?”
“A lot of Tomoe, Kaede. Some of the high points and achievements of my life.” Kotetsu paused. “And you, Bunny. A lot of you.” Hesitating a moment, he reached out and clasped Barnaby’s hands, holding them. “Bunny, I…I didn’t just see the past.” He met Barnaby’s gaze, steady, let himself marvel again at how beautiful and green his eyes were, how long his eyelashes were. He felt like he was at the top of a skyscraper, about to step off in a leap of faith.
It was time to trust that Barnaby would be there to catch him once more. “I saw the future, I think. I saw us. Together. Together, together.”
Barnaby’s eyes went wide, his lips parting on a silent gasp.
Taking a deep breath, Kotetsu wet his lips, and continued. “I’ve never said anything. I’ve always cared about you, so much. But, to tell you, how much, I…. You had so much on your shoulders, with what happened to your parents, trying to piece your life back together, after, after everything. Trying to heal from it. Always having to support me, with my powers disappearing, and my retirement. Even after coming back and getting to be your partner again, I just…I wanted to tell you. But, I. Everything felt so delicate, right?”
“And you didn’t want to ruin things,” Barnaby murmured. “We were partners again, and friends again. After so long, we were back together, and you didn’t want to risk it falling apart.” His eyes were shimmering, and he looked like he was on the edge of smiling or crying—but the smiling was winning.
God, Kotetsu had hoped…seeing all the not-yet-memories in his glimpse of the future, it’d struck Kotetsu that maybe, maybe all this time, Barnaby was hiding the same feelings Kotetsu was. And now, to hear these words from him, about Kotetsu, but at the same time obviously about himself. How could Kotetsu be this lucky? How could he be this lucky a second time? He released Barnaby’s hands only so he could take off his partner’s helmet as well, letting it slip to the ground. He ran still-gloved fingers along the sides of Barnaby’s face, trailed a gentle thumb beneath his eyes to catch the stray tear that finally dropped, wiping it away.
“Bunny. Barnaby. I’ve…I’ve loved you a really long time. I always thought I just had Tomoe in my heart, then one day you were there too, like you’d always been there.” He swallowed, feeling the moisture on his own face. “If the future I saw here was real…god, I want it. I want that with you, Bunny.”
Then Barnaby, skittish Barnaby who’d always shrugged off Kotetsu’s hugs, who always complained or fussed if they went on too long, embraced Kotetsu with a loud clatter of their hero suits, squeezing him so tightly Kotetsu thought he could feel his ribs creak even in the armor. He was laughing wetly, but sounded so relieved. “Me too, it’s the same for me too. Old man, it’s been driving me crazy, I’ve wanted to say something for so long.”
Finally he pulled back, just far enough Kotetsu could see his face again. And it stole Kotetsu’s breath away, the sheer joy in Barnaby’s wide, wide smile. He’d never seen Barnaby more beautiful than at this moment. “How long’s it been for you?”
Barnaby chuckled softly, wiping under his eyes. “It first hit me that time, after Jake Martinez. When you said you trusted me to believe you.” And there was that beautiful smile again. “It was like a good luck mode punch to the chest. I don’t think I ever quite recovered.”
“I don’t know that I can point at a specific day, or event,” Kotetsu mused. He shrugged one shoulder. “It was like you snuck in on quiet little rabbit feet and just waited for me to finally notice.” He grinned. “My li’l Bunny.” Barnaby huffed, but he still held Kotetsu, and Kotetsu realized then, now that he knew, Barnaby was never going to let him go. And Kotetsu trusted in that, one hundred percent.
“So what now,” he asked, affection a warm, glowing thing beneath his sternum, and he tapped lightly at the chestplate of Barnaby’s hero suit. “Do we…should we go out? Dinner and…?”
“Definitely. Yes, let’s do that.” Barnaby’s hands hand slid down to rest at Kotetsu’s waist, and Kotetsu found he really liked them there. “Maybe something quiet and small. How about that barbecue and Korean barbecue restaurant Ben recommended?”
Kotetsu nodded as he recalled Ben mentioning his cousin and her husband’s new business. He’d always wanted to try— TIngles flashed over his scalp, and Kotetsu did a jaw-dropped doubletake, staring at Barnaby in shock. Wait, that was, that was the exact place! Their first date! Barnaby looked momentarily confused, then stared at Kotetsu in wonder.
“Really? You saw…?”
Now Kotetsu was beaming and he didn’t think he’d ever stop smiling again. With a whoop, he grabbed Barnaby into another hug, so giddy he couldn’t help but spin them both around until they both dissolved into laughter. Staggering to a halt and helpless with giggling, Kotetsu had to wipe his eyes for an entirely different reason this time.
“Y’know what’s the best part? Today’s the date we were first partnered together.”
Barnaby’s face brightened, “it is!” His smile grew impossibly fond as he looked at Kotetsu. “You remembered.”
“Of course, always.” God, he loved Barnaby so fantastically much, how had he ever kept it tucked away and secret in himself so long? “I can’t wait to have a ton of anniversaries with you.” He sounded like such a sappy fool…and he loved it. “Wait, I thought of another one!”
As Barnaby looked at him curiously, he took Barnaby’s face in his hands, then leaned in and brushed their lips together, once, twice, and by the third, Barnaby met him in the middle for a lingering, thorough kiss. When they finally parted, Kotetsu announced with a wink, “First kiss!” And he learned then that a blushing, delighted Barnaby was his absolute number one favorite thing.
Kotetsu didn’t know what the future really held, but when it came to love, he couldn’t wait to experience every moment of it, now that it would be a future with Barnaby.

Francoise-Dupont Performs Be More Chill- Rehearsal
More Than Survive
Adrien, without thinking, said ‘Mariiiii’ instead of ‘Christiiiiiine’, and would never live it down
When Alix wrote Boyf and Riend on Adrien and Nino’s backpacks, she got the idea to do the same with Marc and Nathaniel’s after rehearsal
Nino was actually listening to reggae on his headphones while singing (Turns out he likes it)
Kim and Alix nearly dropped Marinette when they carried her over to the sign-up sheet
Alix: STRAAAAAIGHT!
I Love Play Rehearsal
Marinette broke out into giggles a few times while singing this
Marinette: I also have a touch of ADD!
Nino: She actually does.
Instead of making the weird noises, she just did a backflip off of her chair, much to everyone’s shock
The Squip Song
Instead of going in the boy’s bathroom, Adrien and Alix go in a unisex bathroom
Alix did the rock and roll stage slide when she sang ‘ITS FROM JAPAAAAAAN!’
Alix needed a lot of water after singing that
Two Player Game
Nino and Adrien held hands a few times during the song, and Nino kissed his cheek when he sang ‘Is it really true? I’m your favowite person?’
Nino: Uh… No homo?
Alix/Rose/Juleka: Yes homo!
Nathaniel: Total homo.
The Squip Enters
Adrien may have blushed when Marinette held his hand while he was screaming
Marc and Nathaniel accidentally bumped into each other when walking through the mist from the fog machine
Adrien: You look like Calum Worthy and Rain Dove
Nathaniel: Our default modes. You can also have us set for Ruby and Sapphire
Marc: Tweek and Craig
Nathaniel/Marc: Or Yaoi boys with cat ears and tails
Be More Chill (Part 1)
Marc sang the first verse
Nathaniel died when Marc called Adrien ‘Boo’
Nathaniel’s commanding voice when he told Adrien what to do reminded him of his dad
Marc: Everything about you is so terrible (I didn’t mean in, you’re amazing)
Nathaniel: Everything about you makes me wanna die (Not you, you bring me life)
When picking out clothes, and Adrien picked out the girl shirt, Marc resisted the urge to roll his eyes when he had the point out the shirt was for girls (Screw gender roles!)
Instead of Madeline being French, she’ll be American
Nathaniel: Hey, Hamlet. Be More Chill
Do You Wanna Ride?
Adrien has to admit, Mylène made an amazing Brooke
Be More Chill (Part 2)
Nathaniel: Jeremy, you cant just listen. You have to obey.
And at that moment, Marc knew… That he was definitely a bottom
Adrien cried a little when he repeated Marc and Nathaniel’s words. They paused so everyone could comfort him and tell him he’s wonderful
Sync Up
Marc: You can’t lie to us, Jeremy.
Nathaniel: We’re inside your brain!
Kim and Alix were mostly doing finger guns and fist bumps when they sang
Mylene: I’m sure digging this new look, hella retro, and totally rad! That was English!
To make Optic Nerve Blocking happen, Max used a remote control to make the prop lockers move in front of Nino
Adrien: Feeling crisp and high and clean! And head to play rehearsal with Mari!
Marc: *Facepalms* Straight people.
A Guy That I’d Kinda Be Into
Marinette poured her heart out during this song
Her backup singers kept trying to get them to move closer together
All they could think was “COME ON! KISS!”
Adrien may or may not have blushed again when she sang ‘I guess a part of me likes to talk to you.’
Then he died when she sang ‘Is… Jake.’
More Than Survive (Reprise)
Once again, Adrien said ‘Marinette’.
The Squip Stalks (Instrumental)
The actors were just enjoying the eerie melody
Upgrade
Mylène: Isn’t the sun on the bleachers just bitchin’?
Surprisingly, Marinette didn’t kill Mylène when she and Adrien kissed
And Ivan didn’t want to mangle Adrien
Nathaniel: Now it’s time to go all the way and more!
Marc: … Fuck.
When Kim and Marinette were singing their parts in Upgrade, Adrien got just a little jealous when he saw Kim holding her hand, and dipping her
Marinette: I’m tired of being the person that everyone thinks that I am (She cried a little at this)
Loser Geek Whatever
It took all of Adrien’s willpower not to laugh or cry when singing this
To do Optic Nerve Blocking, they turned the lights off, then Nino ran offstage, and when the lights came back on, he was gone
Halloween
Mylène instead went as a sexy mouse
Kim as Lil’ Romeo
Marinette as Juliet
Alya as IT
Aurore as a sexy baby
Alix as Jason
Adrien as a cyborg
Marc and Nathaniel as Anime villains
Jeremy and Jake’s Dance Off: Adrien is an amazing break dancer
Alix was twitching and flailing her arms throughout the entire party, screaming for Mountain Dew Red
Do You Wanna Hang?
Aurore is a major lesbian, so doing this with Adrien just made her feel weird
Adrien was a little uncomfortable, so Aurore kept the touching to a minimum
Adrien: I can’t move my feet.
Marc: You’re welcome.
When Aurore made Adrien drink from her bottle, Marc and Nathaniel, having no idea how to speak Japanese just spoke Spanish and Yiddish
Kagami would be giving them lessons later
Michael in the Bathroom
Nino was wearing the CREEPS shirt, but with red letters
Adrien died a little inside when he called Nino a loser
Nino: I’m having my period!
Alya: … Take your time, honey!
Nino had everyone crying when he sang Michael in the Bathroom
It took all of Alya’s strength, and her friends restraining her to not run up on that stage and hug her boyfriend
A Guy That I’d Kinda Be Into (Reprise)
When Adrien asked if she would go out with him, Marinette was squealing and nearly said “YES! I LOVE YOU!”
But she kept that to herself and said her lines, while trying not to facepalm over and over
Smartphone Hour
Alya was actually on the Ladyblog when she was singing Smartphone Hour
Aurore got a little tongue-tied when she said ‘I’m sorry Jeremy made out with me at the party, but it was totally his fault, and let’s not let boys ever come between us again, okay?”
Alya: Hey everybody, have you heard? Rach set a fire, now go spread the word!
Alya’s vocal range had Nino blushing like crazy
Pitiful Children
Once again, Nathaniel got a nosebleed as Marc sang. Just wait until the night of the show when Marc would be wearing the outfit Marinette made
Marc and Nathaniel held hands most of the time
Adrien is a huge fan on BMC, but he still has no idea how the SQUIPS got in Rich’s locker
Alya forgot where she put her Mountain Dew
Kagami played her SQUIP
During the instrumental, Marc and Nathaniel’s backup dancers/singers were Kagami, Juleka, Rose, Chloe, Sabrine, Ivan, and Luka
The Pants Song
Adrien felt kinda badass when he called the student playing Mr. Heere a loser.
He imagined the student was his dad
After hearing the song for the hundredth, there was one thing on Adrien’s mind… He wanted Mr. Heere to be his dad
Instead of burning the momentos, Nino just cut them up
Student: Do you love him?
Nino: Yea- NO!
Student: Huh?
Akuma Class: Huh?
Alya: Say what now?
Adrien: … As a friend, right?
The Play
Marinette cried a little when Adrien (As Jeremy), implied that there was something wrong with her
Marc: I anticipated your resistance.
Nathaniel: … Fuck, I’m a bottom.
Sabrina played Mylène’s SQUIP
Ivan played Max’s SQUIP
On her cue, Alix skated across the stage screaming ‘I NEED MOUNTAIN DEW RED!’
Nino: MICHAEL MAKES AN ENTRANCE!
That immediately had students screaming and cheering
The fight scene between Nino and Adrien was a little awkward because they kept getting in weird positions
Nathaniel: … Gay?
Marc: Gay.
Chloé played Kim’s SQUIP
Aurore and Mylène held hands as they sang
Rose and Juleka played their SQUIPS
Alya: I know what you’re doing, Michael. I know what everyone’s doing! ALL THE TIME!
Nino got a nosebleed when she grabbed him by the front of his shirt
Everyone was a little out of sync when they said “I just feel so connected to you guys right now.”
Luka, as Marinette’s SQUIP, walked her over to Adrien and winked at the blonde
Marinette surprisingly didn’t stutter, have a breakdown, or scream when she told Adrien she loved him
And it was at that moment, Adrien started having feelings for Marinette
After Marinette drank the Mountain Dew red, the students just screamed and did some dramatic thrashing on the floor
Once again, Marc spoke Spanish, and Nathaniel spoke Yiddish as their characters were defeated
Voices in my Head
Instead of saying ‘I’m totally Bi.’ Alix said, ‘I’m totally Ace.’
Marinette: Who did yours look like?
Adrien: Two gay guys. Yours?
Marinette: Rocker boy.
When Marinette and Adrien finally kissed, this got the actors into a frenzy
Alya: … Okay. The song’s over.
…
Kim: Guys? We’re done.
Nathaniel: Rehearsal’s over.
Max: Hey. *Snaps his fingers* Hello?

@revouries sorry it took so long but here is my full list of song recs! Ps - it is loooooong
So I’m still very surprised anyone is even interested in this but its a really cool thing to share! This playlist has taken me close to a decade to create and I’ve been asked to share it with you all! Fair warning - heavy spoilers, and a lot is based on ship angst, don’t come for me. Also I have only read TDA twice and its been maybe a year since I did so I don’t remember everything perfectly. I had a lot more time with TMI because I read them for years and years. TID & TLH don’t really have soundtracks for me, because of the time period these modern songs really feel wrong when I read those series.
TMI :
Battle in Hotel Dumort in CoB -
- I’m So Sorry - Imagine Dragons
The pace of this song, the sinister notes, the danger it invokes just brings this scene alive. But also, this is the first time Clary feels like a Shadowhunter. She fights and its not terrible. She feels powerful instead of like a liability. Shes able to hold her own while talking to a clan of vampires. Its badass and fits the song.
Seelie Court kiss scene in CoA -
- The Violet Hour - The Civil Wars
Its such a beautifully haunting song, its sweet on the one hand but something wrong lies underneath it. It is so so perfect, because Clace is getting what they’ve wanted, but by hurting those around them. They get to give in for once, without the guilt attached, they have someone to blame for all this. But it ends on this very uneasy note, because it isnt right. So much of it is not right and Clace are not satisfied because it wasn’t a real kiss or real declaration of love
Jace and Clary after the meeting with the Seelie Queen in the Institute in CoA -
- Black Flies - Ben Howard
This is a very Jace song for me. Its quiet, peaceful, but the words are hurtful and honest. “No man is an island” fits him so perfectly at this time in his life where he feels abandoned by Valentine, abandoned by Mayrse, abandoned by literally everyone so he wants to make it worse by committing to Clary. She is so unsure of him because of the repercussions it would cause and he wants her in this moment because of the repercussions. He wants to isolate himself so he cant be hurt by those he loves.
Jace meets Valentine on the boat CoA -
- Silence Worth Breaking - Brooke Annibale
This is where Valentine really shows off how manipulative he is, and as a reader you start to believe how easy it would be to get around to his way of thinking. imo this is the best villain CC has written, because you find yourself agreeing with him sometimes and he makes it difficult to argue from a different perspective. The first time I read this scene I was convinced he was going to go with Valentine. The song is foreboding, it is anxious, and makes you think something bad is around the corner, which at this point in the book you feel like something bad is bound to happen
Simon is about to die on the back of Luke’s truck end of CoA-
- Wait - M83
This just perfectly conveys the grief and fear and guilt Clary feels when she thinks Simon is about to die. She brought him into this life, he turned into a vampire because of her, he was tortured by Valentine because of her and just as they saved him he is going to die. Its the loss of innocence and childhood for Clary. Simon is the last piece of it stripped away from her. First her mum, then her belief system in her whole world, then Luke, and now Simon. She is stripped all the way down to the bone of her identity and this scene is quick, but intense for this reason for me.
Clary and Jace meet up for lunch at the end of CoA -
- Distance - Christina Perri
This is such a sad song, and the sweetness of Christina Perri’s voice pairs beautifully in this scene with a feeling of a bittersweet kind of resigned acceptance. Clary had wanted so bad for Jace to let her go, she had convinced herself that her feelings weren’t that strong. And now here she is accepting her true feelings and ready to kind of wrap Jace around herself like a security blanket and he tells her exactly what she wanted to hear earlier. Except now she has to be a big girl and face her life without anyone holding her hand. She has to grow up and thats what makes this scene so sad, this is Clary realising its time to grow up.
Clary and Jace find Ithuriel in CoG -
- Goodbye Godric - Nathan Barr
This song was always ethereal and otherworldly, the notes are awe inspiring and convey this grief that is so abstract and not individualistic, it is beyond the human experience. Clary and Jace’s complete altruism and empathy in this scene matches with the grieving tones, how helpless they feel at this beautiful creatures pain, and how much they want to do something but they don’t know what. Then Ithuriel shows them visions and its even worse than they imagined. The misery that exists in these walls caused by Valentine, the waste of energy and life and soul is amplified by the music. The music soars as Ithuriel is set free, and the manor home crumbles.
Clary and Jace make out session outside the newly ruined Wayland Manor CoG -
- Maybe Tomorrow - Stereophonics
This wild abandon kissing perfectly matches the mood and pace of this song. Its all over the place, its messy, its confusing. Its giving into pure passion. Its abandoning any pretences they have built up and watching reality crash back down on them.
Isabelle wants Simon to distract her after Max dies in CoG -
- Not Everything Was Better In The Past - Fink
This is such a tenderly played song, and is easy on the ears, but there is a rawness there. Isabelle is completely stripped away, raw grief and anger and guilt eating away at her. When she lets Simon in she is ferocious and wants to show him her toughness. But Simon sees through it all to a scared young girl who is lost in this sea of grief. Its a sweet Sizzy moment
Jace telling Clary he loves her for the first time in CoG -
- Leave a Light On (ACOUSTIC) - Tom Walker
Jace shouldering the responsibility of finding Valentine by himself, essentially sacrificing himself to the cause, hes grief stricken, and yet feels barred from that grief. I know we experienced this scene from Clary’s POV but this song works so well from his POV. He wants to tell the girl he loves how he feels, he wants one night with her to feel normal and feel loved, and to pretend just for a little while that there is nothing wrong with that. This very stripped version of the song is much much much more raw, and that’s what Jace feels like in this scene, all the walls are down and he wants to show his real face to this one girl
Clary showing off her rune skills in the council chamber in CoG -
- I Found - Amber Run
This was the first scene I imagined from a filmmaking perspective, how to best present this scene. I imagined this entire scene from Jocelyn’s POV, frame by frame, as she walks into the council room very quietly and watches her baby walk up and address everyone in desperation, voice shaking but standing her ground. Grown, bigoted, adults judging her and are fearful but she is still showing them what she’s worth. I imagined Jocelyn’s entire world view shifting because she is in awe of this powerful girl Clary has become. She watches her daughter no longer as a little girl but as a formidable Shadowhunter that could handle the cards she had been dealt in life. Just a very transformative moment and pivotal in how we see Clary in the TSC universe
Lilith takes over Jace’s mind and disappears with Sebastian at the end of CoFA-
- I’ll Keep Coming - Low Roar
This song starts out so uneasy, it cant settle down, and that’s exactly how I feel when Jace sends Clary downstairs. I want to scream at her to stay, but knowing Lilith would always take over no matter what. Its a very dark moment, because no one wants to lose control of themselves and it must have been pretty scary at first. Its an anxious scene, paired with an anxious song
Magnus takes happy memories away in CoLS -
- Howl - Jake Houlsby
Magnus is looking very sad when he does this, especially what he says to Simon. Its such a knowing look, Magnus is no stranger to this kind of sorrow, but still to be witness to it over and over must take its toll. It just makes me think of the endless road stretching out ahead of him and how lonely and terrifying that must feel for him. Just a beautiful song to go with a sad moment in this scene
Clary at the Faerie club with Jace and Sebastian CoLS -
- Faded - Alan Walker
- Darkside - Alan Walker
At this point in the story you feel a lot like Clary is getting too comfortable and is maybe losing sight of the mission she’s on. These two songs are very club sounding to me, and tonally fits the mood of the chapter. Clary is quite literally lost in that moment with the Faerie drugs and the dancing and the atmosphere
Clary dancing with Sebastian CoLS -
- Daddy Issues - The Neighbourhood
First of all lyrically….it cannot get more perfect. “Go ahead and cry little girl nobody does it like you do, I know that you got daddy issues. And if you were my little girl, Id do whatever I could do…” it just conveys the creepiness of Sebastians interactions with Clary and how weird she felt when he was dancing with her and how wrong it felt. This is a very short moment in this chapter but it really creeped me out. And this song conveys perfectly this feeling of haziness of the Faerie drugs and this uneasiness that surrounds Sebastian
Simon drinks from Isabelle CoLS -
- Harvest Love - Tash Sultana
This is a pretty soulful, sensual song. And when Simon drinks from Isabelle and he describes the euphoria that comes with that, the description of how his nerves react to the fresh blood just remind me of the part in this song where the drums and music soars the highest (start around 3:32, and it reaches its peak around 4:48) its honestly one of the sexiest scenes CC has written, even including all the Jemma scenes
Magnus and Alec break up in CoLS -
- Evergreen - Ben Howard
First time reading this I was so so angry at Alec, and felt the sorrow and anger coming off Magnus. This song is very dark, and very sinister. Magnus completely misunderstood what Alec was trying to do, and applied the most sinister meaning to his actions. It is their perfect breakup song imo full of angst
Clary traps the Heavenly Fire into her sword in CoHF -
- Outro - M83
This is another scene I imagined cinematically. The first half of the song is where Clary slowly makes her way over to Jace and she suddenly has faith in herself that she can do this. Then we watch her take Jace’s hands as the radioactive wind sounds start and the flames are swirling around them but not touching them. Cut to Magnus and Luke seeing the colour on the horizon, and the flash that shows its over. Cut back to Clary drawing the Heavenly Fire into the sword as the music swells around her. The words are so so powerful, and they always felt very ethereal to me “I’m the King of my own land” This is Clary fully embracing her power and fully utilising it. Its no longer something separate from her, but she IS her power.
Clary killing Sebastian, pretty much a lot of the scenes before the time jump CoHF-
- Saturn (both acoustic and original version) - Sleeping At Last
This song is definitely an end of film/book / end of heroes journey material. Simon sacrificing himself so they can get back, Clary killing Sebastian and forgiving him, Clary scattering the ashes of Sebastian and finally grieving the past years trauma (all of the TMI journey), the Faeries being condemned by the Clave and Helen getting exiled. Its beautiful, its sad, its momentous, its not a regular song.
Alec finds Magnus in Edom in CoHF -
- I Of The Storm - Of Monsters and Men
The steady drum beat adds a sense of steadiness and calmness in this song. Its not a joyful getting back together but they’re both glad the other is alive and are both forgiving each other. For me, this is when I truly started shipping Malec. The growth, the strength of character begins from this moment. This is when they become a couple I love because this is when they commit to each other flaws and all
Isabelle introduces herself to Simon at the end of CoHF -
- Golden Dandelions - Barns Courtney
Isabelle has always felt like a full punch character, no half measures and all that. The feeling Simon describes when he first spots this beautiful girl walking directly up to him is how this song starts, for me at least. The drums, the barely contained excitement, the curiosity, and faint recognition. This song is a full punch song right from the get go and it felt like such a remarkable Isabelle moment
After Jocelyn & Luke’s wedding in COHF -
- From Gold - Novo Amor
It is such a bittersweet, and peaceful song. There are so many endings in this scene, and so many new beginnings. They are all grieving, one way or another, and are all allowing themselves to evolve. Their journey is over, and at the end of this book I had this sense of saying goodbye to these characters (retiring them so to speak) because I wasn’t sure how much they would be involved with the future of the TSC world. Im glad they are still a big part of it, but they will never be the main focus again.
TDA:
Julian and Emma dance in LM -
- Give Me Love - Ed Sheeran
The sexual tension, and the dread they both feel because of their feelings just makes this scene so dramatic to me, and this song softens it a little. Especially if you are re-reading the series you feel this tenderness because they so badly wanted to avoid falling in love
Mark and Kieran in the Hunt -
- Dance Me To The End of Love - The Civil Wars
This is a pretty offbeat quirky song, a little sad, a little wistful, a little mournful, sensual, but tones of wildly abandoning all you know and giving into baser desires. Whenever Mark thinks of his time with Kieran in the Hunt, his memories sound like this song. They experienced very high highs, and very low lows. They were degraded, the lowest you could possibly feel as a living creature. Yet they were riding into the night, sleeping under the stars in places only known to Faeries. There was no one watching them, and no one to stop them from being together. There is tenderness in their relationship, but also knowledge that they are only together because they have no one else. Its happiness without truly feeling like you have a choice about it. You have to be happy together because you cant find this happiness elsewhere. They are forced into being in love a little bit, because the alternative is so much worse. This is one of the reasons why I couldn’t ship them at first, because they hadnt really chosen each other. Only when they were presented with other options and they till chose each other did I start seeing their potential.
Julian and Emma on the beach LM -
- Next To You - Of Rust & Bone
This scene completely took me by surprise, and is very unlike CC because love scenes normally take place quite late into any series she has. This one was filled with anxiety, and tension because the characters quite literally fell into their feelings. There was no forethought, no sense of taking stock of what they were doing. And they ended up feeling such different things about it afterwards. So for me this songs darker moods perfectly pairs with this scene
Kieran and Mark argue/break up LM & LoS -
- Fade Away - Tom Walker
This song has such raw power, such dark emotion and anger and a sense of betrayal that it perfectly captures their emotionally charged scenes. Mark can never be the same Mark that belonged to Kieran when he had no one, because now he has his family. And Kieran is still the same man who has no one but Mark. I hated him the first time I read LM and most of LoS but their chemistry is hard to resist. Especially as they evolve as characters as well as a couple. They are wild and unmoored sometimes and there’s something exciting about characters you just cant pin down.
Emma & Jules’ strained relationship LM & LoS -
- 9 Crimes - Damian Rice
When Emma is “with” Mark there is this strange chemistry between her and Julian. Both have hurt each other at different times, but this was really like a stalemate. Neither could really move on, and both were angry at eachother. As more and more people found out/realised about the feelings they had were more than parabatai this tension grew. Because they’re not just falling in love, they are also actively choosing to hurt one another. They are certainly not an example of a healthy relationship but I felt in some way they were the realest. Because sometimes relationships hurt and sometimes you do things you have to do even if that isnt what’s best for your relationship. This song perfectly captures this push and pull they have, and how falling in love wasn’t blissful happiness for them. It was pain and secrets and hurting.
Annabel rising, killing Malcolm LoS -
- As It Was - Hozier
Since we’re watching this scene from above, a very unnatural and cinematic perspective, the scene feels unreal. Like it was a dream and didn’t happen. I felt genuine fear and uneasiness when Annabel is slowly brought back to life, skin growing over old bones. This song has notes that aren’t usually arranged together, instruments that are usually a bigger part of a quartet, and somehow that arrangement feels just a little wrong. It feels different, sinister, and uneasy. It feels like its missing several instruments, or some notes have been played incorrectly. Hozier’s voice is his best in this song, very strained, but so controlled, bringing forth very intense emotions
Christina and Mark at the revel LoS (I couldn’t remember if this was in LoS or QOAAD) -
- Now You’re Gone - Tom Walker & Zara Larsson
Christina really let herself go during this scene, and we see a completely different side to her. She is adventurous, risky, and she would make anyone say “fuck it lets do this” I always liked Christina but I always felt she was very predictable until this point. We see how intensely she is interested in Faeries, and how personally invested she is in their culture. She allows herself to be swept up, and embraces it rather than fears it. She honestly seems fearless here, and is the definition of temptation. She is quite literally tempting Mark, and its sexy a f
Jules & Emma burn down the church LoS -
- Esmeralda - Ben Howard
This was the first time their relationship excited me, because during this scene I fully expected they would go into full thirst mode but they didn’t. They were still very sensual and sexual and intense, but in a very very different way. There is something attractive about someone who’s willing to burn the world down, who has a little bit of an anarchist side. Its human nature to feel some attraction to these traits, and this scene definitely stirred feelings in me
Emma fights Fal LoS -
- Put It On Me - Matt Maeson
This song both tonally and in its pacing elevates this scene to new levels. Its not a typical battle song, it has a steady pace. But Emma’s description of how the battle is stripped down because of the rain, how she prefers this kind of fight where its her, her weapon and the elements. Its pure, and we get to see Emma in full fighter mode. She is an extension of Cortana, and they belong together. This is without a doubt my favourite fight scene to date. It just brings alive the visuals in such a dynamic way. Very storyboard-able.
Julian holding Livvy as she dies LoS -
- Losing Your Memory - Ryan Star
This song is harrowing, and its just pure pain, raw grief balled into one intense song. The lyrics just pull you into Julian’s mental state “wake up, its time, little girl, wake up” just kills me. As the music intensifies and the singer is practically screaming the lyrics it just feels like that’s what it must have been like inside of Julian’s mind. He wasn’t screaming out loud but his mind must have been very loud
Julian and Emma shower together QOAAD -
- Promise - Ben Howard
Julian dry heaving because he doesnt know how to cry. Fucking heartbreaking in a very quiet way. After the noise of loss, the quiet moments where you have to face grief is devastating. Emma being an anchor, holding him in place and trying to keep the world away from him so he doesnt hurt anymore is just harrowing. They’re just kids but the grief they feel is so adult. And when you lose someone like that, and someone is there for you that solidifies so much in that relationship. They become a part of something you can never let go of. Even if that relationship doesnt last, they will always be apart of that memory. And Emma sticking by him, despite the danger and promises they have made themselves is proof that she is the one for him
Kieran and Christina dance QOAAD -
- Senorita - Shawn Mendes & Camilla Cabello
This song is sensual, its sexual, its got hooks that quite literally sound like orgasms its such a playful song. When I read this scene this song popped in my head right away. When Christina is dancing with Mark its the same kind of feeling I got from her at the revel, except this time there is no supernatural influence, its just her and her feelings. It was a sexy scene, and when Kieran walks in we all expected something very different. What followed is what elevates this scene, Christina has no clue how to react to Kieran, and yet she is mesmerised by him. She dances with him in a way we would never have imagined her doing this in LM. It shows evolution of character, for all three of them. And the fact that Mark is watching, and he’s not angry just makes this scene even sexier. You can practically feel the sexual tension in the air coming off the pages of the book.
Malec wedding QOAAD -
- That Girl Is You - Dave Matthews Band
This song brings me so much peace, the kind of peace that comes with knowing someone for years, and relying on them, knowing they are a permanent fixture in your life. Its exciting, but in a quiet way. Its a very atypical wedding song, because of the unusual style of singing. But I think it represents Malec really well at this point in their journey, they have gotten over many obstacles, often themselves, in this relationship. Their entire world is changing, and they are taking massive steps and making some pretty big sacrifices as people for this cause. Being Consul isnt going to be a smooth life for Alec with Magnus as a husband and a warlock for a child. But this is what he wants, and this is what he wants Shadowhunters to reflect and be going forward. This song is a very peaceful time in the entirety of TSC, and gave me a similar feeling to the end of TMI

yeah, so here's the iwwv au idea. maybe i have a plot now. sort of. maybe a little less murderous than iwwv but anyway
under the cut
Gwendolyn sat perched precariously on her chair, her trope of eight students sitting scattered around the rehearsal room.
“I want to throw you all a curveball,” she said. “We’re doing A Midsummer Night’s Dream, again. You might be sick of it, but who could ever get sick of these words?”
Gwendolyn began to drawl on about her vision and how it came to her.
Rich had tuned out for the time being, thinking back to the midsummer performance of Midsummer. It happened between the semester, adding a curious third enigmatic performance to the usual routine.
He played Lysander.
He was not at all surprised to find his Helena was Brooke, his Hermia was Chloe, and his Demetrius was Jake.
Because of course it was.
And he could remember that evening vividly.
The sun was just beginning to set, golden light filtering through the trees. And it was a fight between the lovers.
Christine, ever predictably cast as Puck, wove through the four of them with a red silk scarf. She drew them together while trying to evade Jenna’s Queen Titania.
It was not the first time Rich had felt Jake’s lips on his. Short-lived undeniable lust as they punctuated their lines with a kiss, and another, and another. Until Puck’s influence was unwound, and Rich’s Lysander pushed Demetrius away.
Him and Jake never spoke about the kiss again.
It was never Jake kissing Rich. It was Demetrius being overwhelmed from Puck’s magic, giving into the temptation to feel Lysander’s lips on his own. An infatuation before disgust.
“I want to switch things up a little-” Gwendolyn was still on her monologue. She had this all planned out. They knew she would switch things up as soon as they got started, though.
Jake and Chloe shared a glance across the room.
They all knew the Bard’s words by heart, but A Midsummer Night’s Dream was etched into the hearts of Chloe and Jake. Into their soul.
They had done these scenes thousands of times, back before they were broken down by Dellecher’s obsessions.
They had been Titania and Oberon. Lysander and Hermia. Demetrius and Helena. Helena and Lysander. Hermia and Demetrius. They had been the Mechanicals. They had been fairies.
“Jakob and Richard!”
Everyone snapped to attention, acting like they had been listening the whole time. Gwendolyn smiled.
“Jakob will be our Hermia and Richard will be our Lysander. Brooklyn and Chloe? You will be our Helena and Demetrius.”
Things were already fragile.
Jake sunk deeper and deeper into every character he played. At least it would be easier to remove himself from the remains of Orsino and dig out Lysander’s bones again.
Chloe’s descent was always quick. But she was always able to remove most of herself from her characters. Not to mention the fight between her and Jake. The one she was acutely aware that everyone heard.
This should have been something they had seen coming. A risky casting choice already predetermined with no auditions. Maybe their midsummer matinee was a trial. A test. Could Gwendolyn make this work?
Of course, they all knew Gwendolyn would.

I was tagged by @lorelaigilmo!! ily Maayan!!!
Rules:
Choose any three fandoms and answer the questions, then tag some friends!
I choose:
Gilmore girls
Avatar: The Last Airbender
One Tree Hill
The first character you loved:
Love loved, Jess, but I remember being super into Lorelai x Luke before he showed up!
On my rewatch probably Aang cause he’s baby from ep 1 but Toph’s introduction was one of only two scenes I remembered from watching it as a kid so I guess that says something!
Jake Jagielski
The character you never expected to love so much:
Probably Paris, her development from semi-stereotypical mean girl to loyal frenemy is SO GOOD!! That being said I also didn’t expect to still be talking about Jess 5 years after watching but here we are
SUKI!!! Also as @julesblackthorns friend I am legally obligated to say Mai <3 OH also Sokka...I think I just love them all
Jake Jagielski...name a more iconic duo than me and my attachment to characters with limited screen-time <3
The character you relate to the most:
Rory! I used to specify “Early Seasons Rory” but considering I’m also sitting in my childhood bedroom with no plans for life after uni I think I can just say “Rory” now 🥴
I’ve thought about this a lot and I really don’t think there’s one specific character! Maybe if you took Sokka’s puns and mixed it with Aang’s excessive politeness and desire for everyone to Just Get Along...
Haley! Maybe with a little of Peyton’s creativity
The character you’d slap:
(omg this one stresses me out)
There’s no real villains in GG everyone is at least a little bit likable...that being said I’d fight Dean in the Doose’s parking lot 💖
Ozai’s 5′8″ I can take him.
Lucas...🤫 (I’m sorry all his cheating plot lines were just so tiring...)
Three favorite characters (in order of preference):
Jess, Lorelai, Luke (Rory ily2 I promise...also honorable mention to Kirk and Dave 💖)
This is too stressful...I love them all genuinely
Jake, Brooke, Haley?? Maybe...I’d have to rewatch
A character you liked at first but don’t anymore:
None!
None!
Lucas, he was my favorite Scott brother for the first few eps...naivety
A character you did not like at first but now do:
Paris! An obvious one
None!
Brooke!
Three OTPs:
Jess x Rory, Luke x Lorelai, Dave x Lane (THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO BE ENDGAME >:/)
Suki x Sokka, all the rest I just really love the friend dynamics!!! Literally every combination of characters brings out a new level of stupidity <3
Jake x Peyton, Haley x Nathan, Bevin x Skills (lol)
I tag @julesblackthorns @sanssa @rorylgilmore

be more chill, august 4, 2019
Cast: Troy Iwata as Rich, OBC otherwise
More Than Survive
“girls! …boys!” is still in the show! Jeremy Heere: Not Cishet
there’s a drawing of a tesseract on the blackboard in the classroom. what are they teaching these kids?
there are posters advertising several school clubs, including chess club and Spanish club. (those were the only ones I could make out.)
Jeremy doesn’t even look at Christine when she’s telling him there’s something written on his backpack.
for most of Michael’s solo, Jeremy just looks frustrated with Michael for not listening to him, rather than relieved to see him.
as Michael and Jeremy are harmonizing on “Christiiiine,” Christine (having already signed up for the play) runs around them in circles. Naruto running, to be specific.
I Love Play Rehearsal
Michael physically shoves Jeremy into rehearsal as he’s verbally hyping himself up to go in.
when Jeremy asks if this is where to meet for the play, Christine looks around in disbelief and gestures to the podium when telling him it’s actually where to meet for the swim team, and Jeremy goes “what??” and spins around looking equally disbelieving.
after telling Jeremy that play rehearsal is “fun,” Christine shuts herself up — and then very gradually turns around to look back at Jeremy, and sees he’s still listening attentively, which gives her the courage to say more.
the few times Jeremy speaks in this scene, his speech is even more stilted than in the first scene, and he practically doubles over from nerves at some points — most notably when Christine comes VERY close to kissing him and then pulls away to Scream.
Jeremy anticipates Christine saying that play rehearsal is starting “now,” and starts to form the word “now” just as she says “soon” instead.
Jeremy gets shoved off his chair by Rich and ends up on the floor, as do most of the characters.
Jeremy’s expressions throughout Jake and Christine’s conversation epitomize “looking into the camera like you’re on The Office,” especially after Jake describes Juliet as “that girl who died.” when Jake is telling Christine about the pressure he always feels, he not-so-subtly flexes his arm muscles, and Jeremy looks at his own arm with disappointment.
Christine leans on the podium in an obvious attempt to look Cool And Casual while Jake is talking to her, though she’s clearly nervous, and surprised when Jake tells her he’s doing the play for her.
the other ninety percent of this post is under the cut (with pictures!)
The Squip Song
I’ve seen Gerard’s Rich described as trying to fight/resist his SQUIP throughout this song and clearly not wanting to tell Jeremy what he’s telling him. Troy’s Rich isn’t anything like that — other than smacking himself to snap out of lisping, he doesn’t seem to be having an issue with his SQUIP at all.
Jeremy, on the other hand, spends the whole song flinching away from Rich — on Rich’s string of “then then then then then…” Jeremy is continually backing away from him, until he’s backed all the way into the proscenium and Rich is RIGHT in front of him.
on the “blip” of “on the school social map you’re just a blip!” Rich boops Jeremy’s nose, which would be adorable if Jeremy weren’t terrified.
in his reprise of the song, Jeremy attempts the hand choreography that Rich was doing in telling him about the SQUIP, and fails miserably.
Two-Player Game
Michael is drinking the Crystal Pepsi that he’s comparing Jeremy to. that can’t be safe.
when Mr. Heere enters, Michael is curled up on the floor, so only his back and feet are visible to Mr. Heere — no wonder he didn’t recognize Michael.
Mr. Heere and Michael exchange Understanding looks behind Jeremy’s back after “that’s why most people aren’t your father.”
The Squip Enters
the Scary Stockboy communicates exclusively in grunts for several lines. think Tim Allen on Home Improvement.
Jake, Christine, and Jenna are looking on in confusion as Jeremy is first talking to his SQUIP, and he gestures to Christine that he’s okay.
Be More Chill, Pt. 1
Jeremy has fun following the SQUIP’s instructions at first — he goes over the top with arching his back, puffing out his chest, and walking with Swagger, looking cheerful all the while. he doesn’t look unhappy until the SQUIP tells him that “all your nerdiness is ugly,” which it does while physically moving his head/face around with its hands to look at him better. (it does that to him a couple other times too.)
after “everything about you makes me want to die,” Jeremy mutters “oh God, oh no” repeatedly, in addition to breathing hard and fast. in this song, and throughout the first act, he mouths “what?” and other phrases to himself in reaction to everything happening around him.
Troy plays a mall employee in the mall scenes, rather than whatever character Gerard plays.
the mall people get Right up in Jeremy’s face when telling him he sucks.
the girl’s shirt Jeremy picks out is the shirt Chloe’s holding in this picture, which is nothing like what I would have expected.
Do You Wanna Ride?
Brooke’s attempts at seduction involve twirling around the straw from her can of La Croix (which sprays some in Chloe’s eye), crawling on the floor, and shoving the can into Jeremy’s chest. oh, Brooke.
Brooke also emphasizes the “ex” when telling Jeremy about her ex-boyfriend.
Be More Chill, Pt. 2
“I can… access the mall security cameras” is clearly a hasty lie from the SQUIP.
Jeremy falls asleep sideways on his bed once he gets home, and the SQUIP makes him tuck himself in — possibly the first instance of it controlling Jeremy’s body?
Sync Up
while opening his laptop, Jeremy makes beeping noises to the melody of More Than Survive, which is also playing in the background at that moment.
“I was just going to check my email” was delivered angrily rather than defensively.
Jeremy’s “ooooh” in response to his vision being fixed is also Tim Allen-esque.
as Jake passes by, the SQUIP tells Jeremy to “make a fist,” just in time for Jake to do an elaborate handshake/fist bump with Jeremy.
while the SQUIP is telling Jeremy about Chloe’s obsession with status, Chloe is leaning against the side of a bank of lockers, trying to collect herself and calm down.
Brooke reads the French phrase she’s using to try to impress Jeremy off of her hand.
during various instrumental breaks, Jeremy does the Squip Song hand choreography in sync with Rich and later the SQUIP, and cycles through greeting all the other students (bumping hips with and high fiving people, taking a selfie with Jenna, etc). it’s a great illustration of the “good hand-eye coordination” allegedly required for success in life and for how the SQUIP is helping Jeremy already, and also just really cool to watch. the lack of an applause break after the song was disappointing because I desperately wanted to clap for all that.
A Guy That I’d Kinda Be Into
Brooke is hovering over Chloe’s shoulder while Chloe is confronting Christine about Jake, even twirling her hair in time with Chloe doing the same.
the curtains part on the school’s stage to reveal Rich twerking. he immediately scurries off.
most of Jenna’s Midsummer lines are delivered in a normal voice, but “one thousand years ago this midsummer” is in the most over-the-top Shakespearean voice imaginable.
Jeremy starts coughing the moment the SQUIP stops delivering his monologue through him, and looks shocked that it happened at all.
Christine is carrying the box of prop hearts when complimenting Jeremy on how Into This he is. wonderful visual symbolism.
as previously mentioned, the extended bowling ball dialogue (all occurring while the SQUIP looks on in confusion and disgust):
Christine: …and at the end, I give birth to the bowling ball! Jeremy [clapping]: That sounds awesome! And very… theatrical! Christine: Well, thank you. If you don’t mind — [hands over the bowling ball] Jeremy: Oh, yeah — Christine: Just for a moment… [both cooing over the “baby”] Christine: Don’t cry, you’re just a BALL! [takes it from Jeremy’s arms and rolls it offstage; both laughing] Christine: Ten! Jeremy: Win!
the other students pass back and forth behind the partly open curtains with the prop hearts (which are hinged in the middle) before passing between Jeremy and Christine with them.
Christine gets very close to Jeremy’s face, as if to kiss him, again, before revealing that the guy that she’d kinda be into is Jake.
Upgrade
Brooke sits on the ground and clings to/wraps herself around Jeremy’s legs while telling him about Eminem’s death; she slides onto Jeremy’s lap from a higher row of the bleachers to kiss him, and when the scene cuts back to them he fully gets up and off the bleachers to ask why she likes him.
Britton Smith’s vibrato. end of note.
during the overlapping “I’m tired of being the person that everyone thinks that I am,” the teens repeatedly cross the stage, finally arranging themselves in a V behind Jeremy until he jumps back onto the bleachers, telling the SQUIP that “this is way too intense!”
Loser Geek Whatever
exact words from my notes: “Will Fucking Roland did THAT”
he spends the first verse and chorus sitting on the top row of the bleachers, only standing and walking down the bleachers in the second verse.
the act still ends with the SQUIP ominously reaching for Jeremy just as the lights go down.
Halloween
Jenna arrives wearing a mask as part of her clown costume — not quite like the clown from IT, but in that same vein of creepiness.
some new dialogue between Brooke and Jeremy after he compliments her costume:
Jeremy: I mean… it’s amazing. You’re amazing. Brooke: That’s what I like about Halloween. It’s the one night I get to be something I’m not. Jeremy: What’s wrong with the way you are? Brooke: You’re sweet, Jeremy. You need a drink.
Christine vanishes after Jake tells her that “the keg’s over there” and walks away.
Chloe is talking to Jeremy on the couch at one point before they both leave, presumably telling him about Brooke’s “surprise.”
Do You Wanna Hang?
the best way I can describe the choreography/staging of this song is that, like Brooke, Chloe has wildly inaccurate ideas about what “sexy,” is, and less like Brooke, she has wildly inaccurate ideas of what constitutes consent. (this post explains it well.)
the SQUIP makes Jeremy walk over to Chloe (in an extremely jerky/robotic fashion) while he’s expressing surprise that she’s jealous of Brooke. to which she responds “obviously, I am NOT” while obviously crying.
Brooke shows up after Chloe tells Jeremy that “I’m bored of you anyway,” and Jake soon follows, yelling that they’d better not be having sex on his parents’ bed because “I specifically told everyone that was off limits!”
after Jake chases Jeremy out, Brooke stays behind to ask Chloe “how could you?” Chloe’s response, delivered so drunkenly that is isn’t even an answer to the question: “I’m so wasted right now.”
Michael In The Bathroom
“what’s not on the Internet?” got a lot of laughter.
Michael and Jeremy’s argument isn’t about luck, but about who’s looking out for Jeremy:
Michael: Think, man! We’re talking an insanely powerful supercomputer! And you’re using it to, what, get laid? Did it ever occur to you that there could be consequences? That you’re messing with something you don’t understand? Jeremy: You’re the one who said technology isn’t dangerous. Michael: Yeah, unless you use it like you. Jeremy: And I thought Chloe was jealous. Michael: I’m trying to look out for you. Jeremy: Oh, really? Because I think you’re pissed that I have one and you don’t. Michael: Oh, come on, man. Jeremy: I’m looking out for myself, for the first time in my life. With my history, I think I deserve that.
the jack-o’-lanterns hanging overhead flash in time with the “knock knock knock knock/clang clang clang clang/[etc.]” lines.
they really do take the bathtub away like in the rehearsal videos! bizarre choice if you ask me, but I’m not Stephen Brackett, so they didn’t ask me.
A Guy That I’d Kinda Be Into (Reprise)
Brooke enters in the background just as Jeremy is sitting on the couch with Christine, stops to look at him sadly, and then leaves without saying anything; he doesn’t notice her at all.
Christine now tells Jeremy that Jake is upstairs fighting with Chloe, rather than having makeup sex, and that she dumped him because “I know he seems like this confident guy on the outside, but… under that he had this whole other layer, he was sensitive and sweet. And then the third layer was like, this underlying total jerk layer.”
at this particular show, Jeremy and Christine’s mutual weird noises were just full-throated screaming.
Christine advises Gingivitis to “drink water!” as he stumbles offstage.
over the course of them making weird noises at each other, Jeremy ends up lying on the couch with his legs hanging over the armrest, a pose I’d seen before in at least one piece of fanart but hadn’t realized was actually in the show.
Christine no longer gives any explanation of why she can’t date Jeremy — she just apologizes and runs off. the SQUIP’s return moments later is met with a very morose “look who decided to show up.”
The Smartphone Hour (Rich Set A Fire)
Brooke has a pair of earbuds that she briefly poses with (holding them taut overhead) before tossing them away just like her banana.
The Pants Song
at the SQUIP’s advice, Jeremy “disengages” from the conversation with his dad about the party; Mr. Heere says not to “hide behind [his] phone,” but Jeremy doesn’t look up until his mom is mentioned.
Jeremy’s rant about how his dad can’t act like a father and just keeps waiting for his mom to come back ends with “No wonder she’s gone.”
upon seeing Mr. Heere, Michael hides whatever it is he’s using to smoke (I don’t think it’s a bong but I have no idea what it actually is) among a bunch of garden gnomes.
“do you love him?” is followed by a record scratch (or maybe shredding on a string instrument?) and the music completely stopping long enough for Michael to respond.
Michael straightens/tugs down his boxer briefs during the second chorus.
“somewhat reluctantly” is followed by a recorder trill that’s not in the album recording.
Mr. Heere opens up his robe on “real literal pants” and shows off his distinct lack of pants to the audience before Michael urges him to put all that away.
The Pitiful Children
when Jeremy arrives at school, Chloe and Jake are arguing about who’s worse off:
Jake: No, no, no. You were messing around with Jeremy in my parents’ room! Chloe: You dumped me for a theatre girl! Jake: Hey, come on, Chlo. I broke my legs! Chloe: You broke my heart. Jake: Well, my house burned down! Chloe [furiously]: You had it coming! Jenna: Oh my God, guys, did you see me on TV? Chloe, Jake, and Brooke: Not now, Jenna!
Brooke’s confrontation of Jeremy now mentions her ex:
Jeremy: Hey, it’s so crazy, right, with Rich and the fire — Brooke: You knew my last boyfriend cheated on me. And you did it anyway. Did you even like me? Or were you just using me to get to someone else? Jeremy: No — Brooke: I am not a sexy dog you can kick, Jeremy. I am a person. [cue Chloe calling her like a dog]
Christine says “I guess I’ll just do theatre” with heavy irony — she realizes that doing theatre won’t fix anything that she’s upset about.
on the first chorus, all the teens (who had left the stage) walk back through again, as if to remind Jeremy of who exactly the pitiful children in question are.
Jeremy adds Mountain Dew to the beaker first, followed by a few SQUIPs, which frankly seems like the worst order to do that in.
Jeremy sounds more stilted again (more like in act 1) when offering Jenna the excuse about preparing Pansy Serum. he still asks Jenna “how are you feeling today?” but doesn’t immediately interrupt her to offer her a SQUIP:
Jenna: No one’s ever asked me that before. I know everything about everyone at this school, but no one ever wants to know me. SQUIP: You can help her. Offer her a drink. Jeremy: I can’t trick her into drinking a pill! SQUIP: She would do anything to feel like she belonged. Jenna: I would do anything to feel like I belong. Jeremy: Then would you maybe want to… drink this? Jenna: What’s in it? Jeremy: A supercomputer from Japan that’ll solve all your problems. Oh, and Mountain Dew. Jenna [cheerfully]: Okay!
the same blue screens/user agreement that appeared in the projections during The Squip Enters appear again behind Jenna, during her singing to the melody of The Smartphone Hour, suggesting that that’s the moment when her SQUIP fully activates.
by the end of the song, Jeremy has joined in on the choreography with the SQUIP ensemble. at times the SQUIP guides him through it by standing right behind him and placing its arms under his, a gesture that returns in The Play.
The Play
after Jeremy’s attempt to convince Christine to get a SQUIP totally fails, his SQUIP enters from above, being gradually lowered from the ceiling onto the stage.
Mr. Reyes gives Brooke the Pansy Serum onstage (as in, on the stage of A Midsummer Nightmare About Zombies) and she drinks it through a straw. (how did the SQUIP even get through it?)
the SQUIP explains its reasoning behind taking over more than just the student body:
SQUIP [over building music]: And why stop with the school? There’s an entire world of suffering people who need my help! It’s the glorious destiny for which I was programmed! And I never would have discovered it without… you. [music cuts out] Jeremy: …Oh, shit.
Rich physically shows up and yells “I NEED MOUNTAIN DEW RED!” when Jeremy is remembering him doing just that at the party. I tried to describe the staging but couldn’t put it into words so here’s a picture
Jeremy glitches even more than is on the cast recording, from the moment he first tries to say “I’m sorry,” and the lights in the set itself flash in time with his glitching; when he isn’t talking or being forced to hit Michael, he’s clutching his neck/throat and bending over in pain.
Jeremy knocks Michael to the floor with a punch, which was met with gasps and silence until Michael said “then why are you hitting me?” (an understatement, really.)
Jake pours the Mountain Dew Red either down a sink or into a laundry bin (either way, it’s not just onto the floor.) after telling Jeremy and Michael that his SQUIP blocked his pain receptors, he jumps a few times and says, “Now I don’t hurt anymore… here… or here,” first gesturing to his legs and then putting his hands over his heart.
when telling Jeremy they’re no longer mad at him, Brooke clings to Jeremy’s legs like she did in Upgrade, while Chloe wraps her arms around his neck and head; once they realize they see and like one another, they physically toss him aside.
the SQUIP urges Jeremy to “look how happy everyone is when they just get with the program!”
Michael tosses the bottle of Mountain Dew Red to Jeremy just before being knocked out and taken away by the SQUIP zombies.
the SQUIP zombies all bow to Christine when she appears. Christine gets VERY close to Jeremy during her solo, putting her hands on his chest and just generally being all over him.
once Christine’s finished singing, Jeremy is standing and watching her, the SQUIP telling him he can’t possibly drink the last drops, the hand that he’s holding the bottle with shaking uncontrollably as he tries to fight the SQUIP’s control… and then! his hand stops shaking as he gains the strength to physically knock the SQUIP back — and gives the bottle to Christine.
Michael explains about the links between the SQUIPs that means destroying one will destroy them all, AS the deactivation sequence is happening. good for him for figuring it out so quickly, I suppose? it does mess a bit with the flow of the scene though.
Voices In My Head
Rich’s “totally bi now” on Michael’s entrance is sung, sounding a lot like like “technically I’m homeless!”
Michael tells Jeremy that after everyone at the play passed out, “the audience went totally crazy… they’re saying it’s the best school play in years.”
since Michael’s already explained the linking between the SQUIPs, his and Jeremy’s conversation now focuses on how Jeremy knew that destroying one would destroy them all (he didn’t — he “was just trying to save Christine”) and why Michael came to help him:
Jeremy: After everything I did, you were still there for me. Michael: Oh, I was fully prepared to watch you suffer. Jeremy: Wow. Michael: But then someone reminded me, when you love someone, you… [Mr. Heere enters] Michael: …it sounds better when he says it.
Michael fixes Jeremy’s sweatshirt while saying it’s reassuring that Jeremy still needs them.
after Rich suggests that Jeremy tell Christine that she “excites you sexually,” Jeremy points at Rich as if to say “is that right?” and Michael and Mr. Heere make frantic gestures to the effect of “NO IT ISN’T.”
Brooke tells Jeremy that she’s still mad at him, but also over him, and Jenna’s arm is on her shoulder the whole time. considering that Chloe and Jake are being similarly affectionate in that scene, it certainly suggests that Brooke and Jenna are a couple now.
Jake dabs after offering his own advice, and Jeremy dabs in response.
Christine revealing that Ruth Bader Ginsberg was her SQUIP also got a big laugh.
instead of Jeremy bending down to kiss Christine, he kneels down in a sort of lunging position, and Christine runs into his arms to kiss him.
the repetition of “the loudest one is mine!” is accompanied by all the teens hugging and high fiving one another and dancing together. they’re all in love…
Stage door
Troy Iwata was the first to come out and sign things, and someone standing near me shouted “Troy’s our boy!”
George Salazar came out second, not long after Troy and first went around posing for selfies with everyone before going around a second time to actually sign things.
after a while of waiting, the band came out — no idea if they signed anything, but they got cheers, especially the theremin player.

Be More Chill preview 1
Okay I just went to see BMC last night and I have a bunch of notes in my head so I just wrote them down: -“My mother’s would be thrilled” is always a great line
-Rich freaking out getting squip messages like he just threw himself on that floor and gave it his all (and Jeremy too)
-Karl and Gerard’s mall character flirting with each other
-squip intro song. I don’t remember it because there was just so much going on I couldn’t even. but like after squip enters there was an extra part and I liked it
-squip on top of clothing racks. he just jumped up there and it was fun to watch
-Jason’s expressions for all the scenes. Ex: Jeremy screwing things up, not understanding christine, watching Jeremy talk to Chloe at Halloween. Best. Expressions. Ever. He was always rolling his eyes at Jeremy and shaking his head while surveying the scene when not taking active part and it was awesome
-squip playing with tassels. just playing with tassels. I find it interesting cause it’s kind of a nervous tic, playing with clothes, but he did it.
-evaluating all the characters song. again I don’t remember it that much but the squip basically summed up each of their hidden personalities and how they cover their insecurities.
-Squip throwing confetti of the stage during Guy That Id Kinda Be Into. I almost caught one but sadly it landed one row in front of me. But wow he’s so extra I love it
-Brooke-Jeremy and Christine-Jake loves song before upgrade. They sung how they were perfect for each other and I found it hilarious.
-Brooke saying he made her happy by noticing her first at the mall as opposed to chloe. A sad contrast to later, when she asks if he was just using her to get to the more popular girl
-squip dancing during halloween. His coat thingy swooshed around and it looked SO COOL
-extra Halloween part. At the end of halloween they sang something extra, I couldn’t really hear what they were saying, but rich screamed “gasoline” and wow foreshadowing
-Michael’s solo cup costume. Instead of hiding as whatever he did before I can’t remember, he blended in as a solo cup and cmon that’s awesome.
-also rich’s squip didn’t talk to him before he burned the house down
-TIFFANY’S VOCALS
-epic banana throw. do I need to clarify? she just yeeted it to the other side of the stage and wow it was great.
-Gerard in unicorn thingy. It was his pajamas and honestly he looked 10/10, would love o see more
-jason williams and george flying down during smartphone hr. They just came down from the sky and I loved it
-Brooke saying she’s not a puppy you can kick around, and then Chloe calling her over like one
-Christine’s song that inspired the squip, like how she said that people are broken and hurting and she doesn’t know how to fix it, so she’ll just do theater. BUT IN SONG
-SQUIP’S BLACK COSTUME AND MASK LOOKING HAIR PIECE. It was so amazing and wow I really like how they put in a final villain costume that’s so much in contrast with his white ones. Really shows just how dark he’s gotten
-talking abt how he learned he only way to help Jeremy, was to squip everyone. And how the only way he came to the conclusion was because of Jeremy. As if shifting the blame.
-deepening of Jeremy’s voice when squip controlled him. You could like hear a difference, but not like a robotic one, but his voice just dropped.
-Will said the “I’ll fight back!” Line too early and it was just funny to watch
-MICHAEL MAKES AN ENTRANCE HE JUST DID A KOOL AID MAN SMASH THROUGH THE WALL
-Jeremy’s glitching during fight with Michael. When he was talking about how Michael doesn’t care about being cool and is fine the way he is. He was glitching out and it looked so amazing.
-squip dying and breaking the fourth wall by going into the orchestra pit. -also his Japanese chants while dying
-on that note, his Japanese before passing out during do you wanna hang
-all the props were taken off like automatically, sliding offstage. But there was one tree after the hospital scene that was taken off manually and for some reason it killed me
-Michael faking Squip hand motions during voices in my head and freaking out Jeremy, only to show that he was joking it was great
-jeremy asking Christine to do performance art with him in the bowling alley (which she spoke abt earlier) instead of just asking her on a date was ICONIC

Obey Me as Be More Chill Cast
Holy Shit this ended up being so long but I really wanted to explain myself. So I’ve put it all under a cut (hopefully). This is just how I’d cast them, and I did include understudy roles with explanations so if anybody happens to write a crossover fic/ does some art with idea they have options (please feel free to do so and please tag me I don’t trust myself to do it I’d butcher my idea with a meat cleaver but I wanna see it so bad).
Jeremy - Leviathan
Honestly the whole vibe of BMC feels like Levi’s aesthetic.
And Jeremy’s big character flaw is that he’s not satisfied with his lot in life/jealous of the life the popular kids have.
You have to pry my head-cannon of Levi already having “Two Player Game” memorized from my cold dead hands.
Understudy - Mammon
Meet dumbass #2 who just wants people to like him would jump on the chance to have a squip.
Actively argues with the casting director about making him Jeremy until he settles with understudy once he finds out MC’s role.
The Squip - Belphegor
Now, now, listen. Belphie is cannon manipulative, and Belphie is also cannon violent.
So is the Squip.
Also I like the significance of the the Squip being a character that takes a hot second to be introduced to us, and Belphie is the same.
Understudy - certain MCs (like mine for example)
Like my MC would turn “Pitiful Children” into a song just dripping with sex.
And I feel like if Levi had the chance to choose what his Squip looks like that weeb would pick either Ruri-chan or his crush you can fight me on that.
Michael - Lucifer
This seems like a stretch but it’s really not. For one, imagine Luci singing “Michael in the Bathroom”. I need it.
Michael is the only character who doesn’t get squipped, and a main reason for that is because he outwardly embraced his lot in life. I feel like that becomes a sense of Pride, like a certain demon.
I also like Lucifer as Michael because Lucifer does try to understand his siblings, and is very accommodating of Levi’s social struggles. Idk i think it makes him a good candidate to play Levi’s stage best friend.
Let Lucifer live vicariously through Michael and experience a relatively laid back life for just a moment please he deserves it
Understudy - Beelzebub
Would naturally fit the role of a stoner without having to be one just for the munchies alone.
A very good friend who deserves the world and instead ends up having a suicidal panic attack in a bathroom
Christine - MC
Obvious reason #1: both are main love interests. And I am a fan of the theater fic trope of your crush in real life is your love interest in the play. Fight me.
I feel like some of the cannon options provided for MCs naturally give way to Christine’s quirkiness.
I feel like this one is very self explanatory and kinda lazy but c’est la vie.
Understudy - Belphegor.
This is partially because one option for casting of Jake is Beel and I feel like he’d enjoy getting to interact with his brother more than the Squip interacts with Jake.
But it’s mainly because I personally thinking Belphie would enjoy pulling the switcheroo on Levi in “A Guy that I’d Kinda Be Into”
Also Belphie singing “Play Rehearsal” is a hilarious thought
Rich - Mammon
My sad greedy boy who craves attention. Would understand freshman Rich. SO MUCH.
“It’s FrOM JapaAAANNNNN”
Mammon is a hipster. He has to be, you can’t convince me otherwise. This need to know upcoming trends most definitely includes obscure drugs.
Understudy - Leviathan
Rich and Jeremy are actually really similar characters. They have important differences like Levi and Mammon do, and I think both can understand Rich.
Levi would 1000% buy the Squip just because it’s a rare, limited item from Japan
His Squip is Ruri-chan in a bikini
Chloe - Satan
Hierarchy wise, Chloe is above Brooke, just like Satan is above Asmo in the demon pecking order.
Chloe is vindictive when she feels slighted, and cunning about her execution, just like our resident bookworm which is a trait he picked up from Lucifer BUT I DIGRESS
Short tempered bitches have to stick together
Understudy - Diavolo
Queen Bee of the School meet Prince of the School
For the Prince of Hell fuckers, I bring you a feast: The baby costume (ignore the diaper part and focus on how he’ll most likely be essentially naked)
Jake - Beelzebub
Jake = confirmed jock beefcake. Beel = confirmed jock beefcake. It’s just simple math.
Turns out that Jake has family issues that bother him that he hides behind a happy go lucky, go with the flow attitude and hmmmmm that sounds really familiar.
Also turns out that Jake is decently in tune with his emotions, I swear I’ve seen this before.
He literally becomes wheelchair bound as a result of risking his life to save his friend. Guys they are carbon copies of each other.
Understudy - Lucifer
This mostly revolves around the fact that I think Lucifer’s Pride will not allow him to be anything less than a lead role.
Also, Jake is technically the second antagonist, and Lucifer ends up being an antagonist to his brothers with his strict rules and sadistic punishments.
Jake = Mr. Perfect, always gets what he wants (in Jeremy’s eyes). Lucifer = Mr. Perfect, always gets what he wants (in Leviathan’s eyes).
Jenna - Solomon
Shady characters unite.
Still holds power/prestige because she’s the school’s go to source for gossip because she just knows things. Kinda like Solomon, but I was thinking more along the lines of because he has immense power/so many pacts with demons.
Tricky bitch who is actually the person who almost causes the end of the world because a pretty person told them to do it. (Do I think Solomon is very weak to Asmo because he’s a pretty face? Yes, yes I do)
Understudy - Asmodeous
Our actual resident king of gossip
Third person in the show to be squipped, and honestly I think Asmodeous would also be the third demon to do it behind Levi and Mammon, for a plethora of reasons/head cannons.
Asmo hitting Jenna’s note in “The Pitiful Children” hits me different and I want it.
Brooke - Asmo
First off: “Do you wanna Ride”. That’s it. That’s my argument for this casting.
Actually, Brooke is a very sexualized character, but turns out to be caring and genuinely likes Jeremy at one point, and that fits my specific thoughts of Asmo’s insecurities.
Understudy - Solomon
Is this just because Solomon was last on my list to find a second role? Yes Of course not. I’m classier than that.
In actuality, I think Brooke gets screwed over pretty hard during the play, and us fans don’t particularly play nice with our resident sorcerer, what with our distrust of his shady character.
Mr. Heere - Diavolo
Diavolo playing the dad who is trying to connect with his kids? Sign me up.
Also, Diavolo singing “The Pants Song”. I don’t know if you noticed but I base a lot of these off of people singing certain songs and I’m not going to apologize
For all you Demon Prince fuckers out there, this character decision requires Diavolo to walk around on stage with no pants on for 90% of his stage time. You’re welcome
Understudy - Simeon
A guiding influence in the play, a part of the character Simeon would easily relate to and take some pride in.
For all you angle fuckers out there, Simeon in boxes for 90% of the play. You’re welcome.
Mr. Reyes - Simeon
My main motivator for this decision was Mr. Reyes’ speech during “The Play” because he snaps off and I really want Simeon to loose his shit.
Mr. Reyes is also relatively chill and goes with the flow. He’s got a lot of patience, like our favorite angel boy, and I feel like Simeon could relate to that.
Understudy - Satan
A fellow advocate for the arts.
Mr. Reyes ends up having quite the temper, and Satan would definitely enjoy his blow up scene.
A more background role, which gives Satan ample time to learn more about backstage work or anything else that strikes his fancy during all his free time in rehearsals.

One Tree Hill Thread - Part 2
Nathan driving, looking for Haley. Old Naley scenes (They showering together, they recoding the voice mail). My heart breaking again and again. GIVE ME NALEY BACK!
so season 2’s ending & everyone is unhappy! Keith leaving Karen is sad cause she ruined K’s wedding, Deb is taking pills, Dan is the same bastard as always, Jake & Payton are stressed cause Nikki’s back, Brook was about to leave (but not) & I can’t even start w Naley.
right now I would love to dedicate my life to watch one tree hill cause 1) I love it 2) I can’t stop thinking about it 3) Naley and last but not least 4) I CANNOT WAIT CAUSE THERE IS SO MUCH THAT WILL HAPPEN THROUGH THE FOLLOWING SEASONS I’M ALREADY DEAD.
These two saved my 2018.
Don’t you guys think that Amanda Leighton could be the 2018 Bethany Joy Lenz? They are look alike and idk they give me the same vibe cause Emma (or am I mixing everything?) and Haley were both tutor girls, right?
Brooke in bed with Chris Keller was discussing.
I had to stop watching one tree hill bc I was getting too exited about Naley and was constantly thinking about them and well, I took a break but I miss them so much now.
Skills is me every time I watch a show. (link to the post)
My mind traveled to Hellcats for a second with these siblings.
i’m guessing (based on some -not really sure about- spoilers) that this Peyton and Derek sibling bound is fake and it’s gonna end up like shit ohhhhhhhh maaaaaaa gasshhhhh
update: accurate
Episodes 9 and 10 from the fourth season are: annoying, boring, sad, cheesy, confusing and many more random and not clear things, I was suffering through the whole tenth because I cannot bare with that type of episodes, I find the so unwatchable.
So, to everyone who criticised them I’ll leave this quotes.
The first one is from one tree hill and it says:
you can drive at 16, go to war at 19, drink at 21, and you can retire at 65, then, how old do you have to be before your love is real?
The second: Miley’s words.
2020 update: i won't ever quote real life situations again but I stand by the whole follow your heart idea.
that was WAY TOO CHEESY.
Skills stepping up for Haley to stop Reachel from touching her is the friendship content i’m here for.
okey but Reachel is a great friend for Brooke so how am i supposed to choose?
I never get what “clean teens” stand for, none of them remained “clean” lmao (which was the right thing to do because all of wanted to “break the rules” and they should do so)
I don’t wanna buy “good Dan” but the actor made it seem like Dan was being actually nice, i can’t trust Dan buy he’s making so hard.
some times it looks like i don't read my tweets before i click on "tweet" but the worst thing is that i do but somehow most of them are written wrongly.
today i saw the next episodes which are really different and made me feel a lot:
-04x12: boring
-04x13: great, loved all the messages and frases, a must watch
-04x14: THE END SNAPPED
chase seems to be looking for reasons to break up with Brooke more than looking for reasons to be with her, go away judgy little dick.
everyone looks SO BEAUTIFUL in the second part of season four, Hayley and Nathan specially, if you ask me, they look a little older but so shiny and cute.
is there some sort of second part of the season glow up? lol
OMG OMG OMG I WAS NOT READY FOR 04x15 END BECAUSE IT’S A DOUBLE SNAP AND I’M NOT OK NOW.
bitch Chris Keller is back omg I screamed.
they can’t make me watch Nathan being rejected by schools. they’re all losers for even live. Nathan is the best thing that could ever happen to them and if they miss him, it’s on them.
(note: I'm such a Nathan supremacist lol)
i can’t believe they’re finishing senior year and i’ve like 5 seasons left to watch them grow in another step of their life, give birth, fight and mess up, i’m emotional and exited.
Turner is a dickhead. just facts.
Lucas lost it wow.
