Do you consider September 1st the start of Spooky Season™ or do you want until October?
Personally, the season officially starts September 1st, but unofficially, it starts when stores start putting out decorations. I couldn't care less about summer, so here are some book recs that are perfect for Spooky Season™ (regardless of when it starts for you)!
This is by no means an exhaustive list or even exhaustive themes. I grouped things into broad categories and am happy to go into more detail if needed/wanted.
All books are listed below the photos.

Cassidy Blake Trilogy by Victoria Schwab "City of Ghosts" explores ghost stories from Edinburgh, Scotland. "Tunnel of Bones" explores ghost stories from Paris, France. "Bridge of Souls" explores ghost stories in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.
These were cute when I first read them, and they're cute on the reread! I love learning about actual local legends! ❤️

Victoria Schwab - Bridge of Souls
Book 3 in the Cassidy Blake series
I picked this book up without realising that it was part of a series, and got about halfway through thinking that the characters just had an unusually complex backstory.
I quite enjoy V. E. Schwab when she's writing for adults. Bridge of Souls is credited to Victoria Schwab to distinguish it as being intended for children, and it comes with a simpler plot and more prosaic writing style. It wasn't bad enough for me not to finish the book, but it also wasn't interesting enough for me to want to read any others in this series.
Could still be an OK book for children, but not recommended for adults.

2023 August TBR
Hello Readers: Can you believe that August is right around the corner? As I am typing up, I still have a few days of July left, but I decided it would be the perfect time to create August’s TBR. I will not be doing my wrap-up for July since I still have a few more days, and I would like to push myself to finish a couple more books.  Let us get started with this TBR.  Bridge of Souls by Victoria…

Title: Cassidy Blake
Author: Victoria Schwab
Series or standalone: series
Publication year: 2018
Genres: fiction, fantasy, paranormal, horror, supernatural
Blurb: Cassidy Blake’s parents are the Inspecters, a (somewhat inept) ghost-hunting team...but Cass herself can really see ghosts. In fact, her best friend Jacob just happens to be one. When the Inspecters head to ultra-haunted Edinburgh, Scotland for their new TV show, Cass and Jacob come along. In Scotland, Cass is surrounded by ghosts, not all of them friendly...then she meets Lara, a girl who can also see the dead. Lara tells Cassidy that as an In-Betweener, their job is to send ghosts permanently beyond the Veil. Cass isn’t sure about her new mission, but she does know the sinister Red Raven haunting the city doesn’t belong in her world. Cassidy’s powers will draw her into an epic fight that stretches through the worlds of the living and the dead in order to save herself.

Everyone always talks about soulmates and the person you’re meant to be with, but all I can think about is my soul place… the place I’m meant to thrive in but can never get to.

My favorite archetype of any media has to be "Really adorable artstyle and visuals with a story that quickly becomes incredibly dark."

I'm serious. Which of these games do you think features more dead children? (The answer might surprise you!)

Which of these shows kills more of its named characters in the first season? (The answer will probably not surprise you, but it's really damn close!)

Dumb people in the streets really trying to tell me that a guy that fly from the heavens and drops in a bridge, saying he came to rescue the girl who changed his life and made his everlasting sadness vanish, who told her brother he was going to beat him and then leave, who eventually fulfilled that promise... Should not end up with her. That's insane.
I swear to God, I don't care about canon, about the author's dumb intentions...
I just needed to say... Soul Society is like a romantic fairy tail from the Prince's POV. Ichigo... My man... That was some real romantic thing to do.
