I was an introverted kid who liked books and comics who leaned into magic and fantasy. It was an escape. And I knew somehow that i was different (queer) and all that naturally made me sooo into greek mythology. It was weird to hear about Percy Jackson for a few years (i knew there was a movie and saw them but that was all) and then in my 15th birthday BOOM i got the five books. And it was amazing.

literally my one and only complain because why would he die if he was already kinder? morpheus and daniel are different in the little things, like how they treat people. morpheus would never release the people he cursed (like burgess), while daniel just see no point in being petty and vengeful.

In the comics, this is one of the key moments that indicates the difference between Morpheus and Daniel. How Daniel is kinder and more compassionate. Why the transformation was ultimately, a necessary one.

Yet what's one of the last things we see Morpheus doing in the show? Lovingly stroking the Griffin as he restores his vitality, offering him comfort.

The show going out of their way to show how much he'd changed, how he already WAS the Dream he wanted Daniel to be, just makes his death feel all the more unnecessary and infinitely more cruel.

somehow, despite a few weird changes, i feel like the show version of the sandman ending is somehow better than the comics. it feels more human, i guess
