I bought a shirt! 🥺💖 Now I own an up-to-date NASCAR shirt, woohoo! (KYLE BUSCH WAS MEANT TO STAY IN THE 18 UNTIL HELL FROZE OVER, OKAY.)

I really, really like it! I'm very not attached to any of the 5's normal schemes, and this one is a runaway fave; I think the borrowed McLaren orange looks great. This was originally KL's scheme for the Coke 600, which he ultimately didn't get to run due to Circumstances. So they brought it back for him to run at Indy this weekend!

What is especially endearing to me is that apparently KL asked to run it. I generally assume that drivers aren't overly precious about the pomp and circumstance of it all; it's our job as fans to love all that, and theirs to race the car, in which case what's most important is, you know, how it drives, not how it looks. Or, more specifically, Larson has not publicly revealed himself to really be that kind of person. So I think it's super sweet he wanted to race the scheme enough to actually ask for it. <3

I also think it speaks to how much the H1100 opportunity meant to him, and I'm glad there's some of that spectacle magic to it for him, given that he'd mentioned he missed out on that feeling day-of (due to having an internal crisis about the weather all day).

Let's hope tomorrow offers some redemption.
