Until he’s assigned to work on one of David Schreibner’s videos, one of Capture’s best producers and most popular on-screen personalities. As they work together, Matteo wrestles with wanting more.

Notes: this fic is the reason why I didn’t want to do a favorites list. I knew I was going to forget some important fics and here we are. This is literally art. The way it is written is published literature level, honestly. I especially loved noticing all the little but so important steps Matteo took to get better. His relationship with Jonas and Hanna and also with his therapist is so good! But of course especially David and Matteo’s developing relationship is *heart eyes emoji*. This is definitely a fic I am going to reread multiple times (already have whoops).

Sneak Peak:

Matteo wishes he’d chosen the couch.

Lena’s office is out of her basement. Matteo walks into her house without knocking for his appointments, where her wife is supposed to greet him and offer him water. Most of the time, he’s so quiet that her wife doesn’t hear him come in, and Matteo goes downstairs for his appointment without knowing how to ask for the water he wants. He also doesn’t remember her wife’s name, so. It’s just a lot.

Lena’s basement has a couch and a chair. At Matteo’s first appointment, he did not want to be the stereotypical patient on the couch, so he sat in the chair. Lena assumed that was his preference, so he sits in the chair at every appointment, wanting to sprawl out on the couch instead.

He could tell her, that his throat is so fucking dry that he feels like can’t talk. That this chair has a spring loose that digs into his back. That he doesn’t know how to ask for what he needs from her.

But wherever she starts a session, Matteo just goes with it. He doesn’t have the energy to do much else.

Some people believe that when you fall in love, your world shifts.

Even runs a popular tumblr about the shift and how people experience it. Isak looks to it for help as he processes his feelings about the shift and his latest crush.

Notes & Ramblings:

This is a magical realism AU where people go through a “shift” in the way they experience the world when they fall in love. The world-building in this fic is brilliantly done, and is especially remarkable in a shorter oneshot. 

True to character, Isak is a skeptic about the shift, but is also fascinated by it and follows an unknown blogger who is very positive about the shift.

Through the blog posts, this fic touches on what it means to fall in love, if there is such a thing as one great love, and whether romantic love is all it’s cracked up to be.

Isak’s headspace is really on point here as he grapples with cynicism, fear and hope about the role of love in his life and what the shift could mean for him, even as he finds himself falling for Even. Isak and Even’s relationship here is very sweetly but realistically done, with a nice mix of banter and serious discussions.

Favorite Lines:

Even’s fingers stop dancing, like they’re waiting. Isak reminds himself that the world has told Even he’s in love with someone else.

“What’s it actually like?” Isak asks. “The shift?”

“Oh, the usual. It’s like all my senses are affected. Things look different, smell different, feel different—”

Even hesitates.

“I’m really not sure yet.”

Isak thought Noora was only like this at night.

He’d overhear her on the phone with Eva: quiet, unsure, sad in the lonely kind of way Isak recognized. When morning came, she put on red lipstick, made lunch for her and Vilde, and brainstormed articles she believed could solve the world’s injustices. This week, she’s eliminating islamophobia.

But in front of Even’s camera, she shifts in her seat, stares at the floor, and stumbles over her words.

“Do you still love William?”

Even’s question startles Isak. “Maybe we shouldn’t….” he starts, but Even holds his hand up. He is the filmmaker, and Isak is—well, they never really defined his role here. Groupie?

“No.”

That’s not what she says to Eva. Even doesn’t have superpowers.

Even raises his eyebrows. Isak stands corrected.

“Or….” Noora tries again. “I don’t know. I miss him being around.”

They have eyes.

Fy faen. Dette kom jo til å bli en helt strålende romjulsferie.  I think this is an Evilde fic.

43. What type of dad do you think Matteo would be?

Oh... I think he would be warm and caring. Stupidly fond of and proud of his kid(s). He would expect to become a very laid back dad but he’ll quickly realise that he can get anxious, protective and overly involved at times. 

At other times he’ll be playful and goofy with the kids. Both Matteo and David work hard to reign their sarcasm around their kids, though, because they know that’s Not Good Parenting. Still, they both know they’ll fuck up their kids, like all parents do, and a little sarcasm is perhaps not the worst as long as their kids feel loved. 

Matteo loves his kids a lot. He’s there for them as much as he can, and he’s not very strict, not unless it’s needed.   

When Matteo is stressed out, or his blood sugar is low, he knows he gets grumpy, so he asks David to take over the kids. Just as David asks Matteo to take over when he needs some air.  

45. Do you think that Davenzi would prefer to go on double dates with Janna or Mazzouk?

Oh shit, that’s hard. I don’t know. Both. I mean, Matteo has a longer history with Janna, and they have spent more time together before? On the other hand, they would both know Amira and Mohammed about the same? I don’t know. Both. They would prefer both.

Isak lets out what Eskild calls his melodramatic sigh because, ok, his classes are almost definitely cancelled then, but he already got out of bed and went outside when he could’ve done neither of those things. He’s mourning the lost opportunity.

But Sexy Commuter is eyeing him, either like he sees another opportunity or like Isak has jam on his cheeks from breakfast—again, it’s hard to actually see Sexy Commuter’s eyes, which is another reason for Isak to curse the freezing rain.

A STARWARS AU. recently i’ve been posting starwars to this blog and i think it’s sort of obvious that i adore starwars especially if you’ve ever spoken to me oops. i love that this au is set in the starwars universe but isn’t them as charcaters, they’re still themselves but just in starwars. i have a lot of thoughts about this au and what’s going to happen but really i have no idea. i’d really recommend checking it out even if you don’t know starwars it’s really easy to understand!!
