What types of music are in your world? What’s your favorite?

There’s all sorts of music! Recently someone made a steam powered sort of thing that sounds really cool, it’s like adding a melody to boiling water.

Though my favorite is the music of the Raft (similar to a pan flute from your world)

It’s commonly played by us hybrids because they are easy to make and play and small enough to shove in a pocket. When it’s paired with a group humming around a campfire it’s one of the most wonderful sounds

leo — he was between foster homes a lot and often ended up homeless. he knows the cost because he's spent many times counting out the spare change in his pockets and praying he has enough.

percy — he and sally went/still go on grocery trips, and he rants to annabeth if the price goes up. want to know how the economy's doing? ask percy about bread prices.

demigods who do not know how much an average loaf of bread from the store costs:

annabeth — maybe back when she was with luke and thalia, but she's been in camp half-blood for most of her life. bread just appears on a plate in front of her, who is she to question it.

frank — he's a nepo baby.

hazel — she's been dead for 70 years. seeing what the price has been inflated to now may kill her.

jason — he was raised by wolves. lupa does not have time to worry about the inflation rate of bread.

nico — he was cut off from modern society for 70 years.

piper — she's also a nepo baby. and she spent a lot of time shoplifting, so the illusion of cost doesn't apply to her.

"I can't believe CDPR made one of the romance options a COP" River is a cop for literally two thirds of a mission that is dedicated to uncovering the depths of police corruption in Night City, gets immediately booted from the force BECAUSE he tried to stand up to said police corruption, spends the rest of the game pursuing detective work outside the law, and in the base game mentions he's going to start work as a private eye so he doesn't have to return to the force in order to keep protecting people.

The only instance where the "River is a Cop" joke is funny is using it in the context of Johnny being pissy about it, which should probably tell you how low hanging that particular fruit probably is.

DP x DC: obsession ramble

It’s not that I dislike obsessions, but I’d like to actually see them actually used more

The word obsession means: “an idea or thought that continually preoccupies or intrudes on a person’s mind”

It has connotations of compulsivity and a loss of control

So if I’m told X character is obsessed with y, then I’m not actually shown the character being obsessed, it just feels… unsatisfying?

And a lot of the time we get told about it and then it’s never addressed again, or it gets treated more akin to a special interest

It’s Chekhov’s gun remaining unfired

Which is a shame because the works that do actually show the obsessive element of an obsession it feels like setup and payoff. It’s really cool and an interesting way to examine a character

And I get that takes extra work and isn’t always the story you want to tell, but it’s significantly less cool when it’s arbitrarily lumped in. It’s not a be all end all if it’s included and nothing is done with it, but it’s a bit like a nail not quite hammered into place: sticks out a bit and occasionally tears a small hole in your sweater(story)

Def not saying not to use it, but just food for thought on ways to use it I guess, or a way. Idk man I’ve definitely been overthinking this but people overthink every aspect of writing and tropes so that don’t make me special just sleep deprived

So I was just walking down the street and I saw an old lady from the dirt people and she was weaving on a loom so I sat by her for a while to watch because I’ve never seen anyone use a loom in public. And then she talked to me like we were equals! She started showing me how to use the loom and a few other things I could do with yarn. At the very end she gave me this Pancho that we made together! Tomorrow if I can find he again I’m going to give her a basket of fresh herbs.

Oh, just imagine domestic Hualian, spending their days in the shrine or at ghost city.

Picking wild flowers at the shrine, cleaning the place up together, painting and writing, watching the sunrise everyday, cooking for each other. (Even if one of them is infamously bad at cooking.)

Walking through ghost city, hands intertwined, eating whichever street food is edible, saying hi to the other ghosts before retiring to Paradise manor, laying in each other’s arms in bed.

There’s something so healing about it. After all those years of torment, they finally got the peace that they deserved.
