DP x DC: obsession ramble

It’s not that I dislike obsessions, but I’d like to actually see them actually used more

The word obsession means: “an idea or thought that continually preoccupies or intrudes on a person’s mind”

It has connotations of compulsivity and a loss of control

So if I’m told X character is obsessed with y, then I’m not actually shown the character being obsessed, it just feels… unsatisfying?

And a lot of the time we get told about it and then it’s never addressed again, or it gets treated more akin to a special interest

It’s Chekhov’s gun remaining unfired

Which is a shame because the works that do actually show the obsessive element of an obsession it feels like setup and payoff. It’s really cool and an interesting way to examine a character

And I get that takes extra work and isn’t always the story you want to tell, but it’s significantly less cool when it’s arbitrarily lumped in. It’s not a be all end all if it’s included and nothing is done with it, but it’s a bit like a nail not quite hammered into place: sticks out a bit and occasionally tears a small hole in your sweater(story)

Def not saying not to use it, but just food for thought on ways to use it I guess, or a way. Idk man I’ve definitely been overthinking this but people overthink every aspect of writing and tropes so that don’t make me special just sleep deprived

Snow-woman and the damphir?

Vlad and Danny are fighting again, the battle has crossed multiple land masses, they end up in a populated section of Japan where vlad gets the upper hand and pulls out a new invention: the 'maximus convertus' (classy right?) Danny stumbles into a few people trying to dodge but it hits... him and a young woman named cassandra cain!

The weapon is designed to powerswap the person firing and the target but its still a prototype and was meant for just the two people...

Danny's ice core powers get transferred to cassandra, vlads vampire(energy?) Core powers get transferred into danny, vlads obsession towards having Danny gets transferred into cassandra... vlad falls into a coma due to the loss of his core and the shock of being mortal again, danny collapses in the shock as his body shifts from strictly his hero form into something like vlads form (i just googled it, why is most damphir character art a combo of monk robes and a trenchcoat!-or 'bedroom wear'🤣) cassandra basically gets knocked out from the halfa core fusing into her soul and gets colder as her body decides how to develope...

Cassandra is in shock, she was in Japan doing some investigating for the Japan branch W.E. and was almost finished. today was her day off she had gone to a few tourist spots and learnt a little about Japanese culture and folk tales, one which caught her eye was the many stories about yuki-onna, the 'snow-women' after that she was travelling back to her hotel when she got caught up in a fight between supers, the boy with white hair was doing his best to stop harm coming to the civilians even at the expense to himself when the one with the red eyes and Cape pulled out a device that was wired up to him. She saw the boy try to get away from everyone but bounced off two civilians trying to get out of the way he bumped into her as the device fired.

*pain...cold...lonely...pain*

it felt like her body was freezing and unfreezing as she lay on the sidewalk unable to control her actions, the boy with the white hair now altering itself to be longer. She grunted in pain as her body froze and thawed and the boys eyes snapped open looking at her in concern. Another jolt of pain and he was scrabbling over to her to hold her hand "you're going to be all right, I will protect you" he murmured, his eyes seemed to have a hypnotic quality to them but his body language was genuine. The pain spiked again and her conciousness faded to the sound of ambulance sirens approaching. 'Why was her last conscious thoughts turning to the yuki-onna?...'

The Time-Loops

First of all, to clarify, Daniel is trapped in a time loop. Shenanigans ensue.

Second of all, the world slightly alters with each loop, sometimes is something small like what someone wears one day, and sometimes is something bigger, like being looped into the wrong time period. Think of it more so as Daniel going through different AUs that mostly stick to the relative timeframe in which the events of lookism take place.

Third, my version of Daniel may seem OOC, but this Danny has gone through things his cannon version hasn't. He has killed, died, and repeated a few episodes of his life at least a thousand times. He's traumatized and feral, if you don't like him don't read!

Also, I'd love it if you could come up with ideas for the loops and I appreciate every comment, like, and reblog more than you can imagine.

Movies I watched this Week #105 (Week 1 of year # 3):

4 Restaurant films + 3 with John Leguizamo:

🍿 As an ex-chef and as a person who likes to eat, I was looking forward to seeing the new conceptual thriller The menu. Unfortunately, it wasn’t satisfying. As a satire of the 1% foodie class, ‘Triangle of Sadness’ was sharper. As mouth-watering Food Porn a-la David Gelb, (who actually advised the director with hi-rez hi-end fine dining creations), it fell flat. As a wink & nod to Alinea Restaurant’s choreographed tabletop dessert, well, I wish I was able to enjoy it in Chicago instead. Otherwise, like the ostentatious dishes, it felt pretentious and vacuous. Leguizamo plays a washed up movie star. 6/10.

🍿 What ‘the menu’ wished it was, was Jon Favreau‘s sweet Chef, about a father and his 10 year old son who bond on a gastronomic cross country trip in a food truck called The Boss ‘El Jefe’. This was a charming movie that Adora & I watched many times. I believe that as times goes by, this will end up being considered as one of the best food-centric films, up there with Tampopo, Ratatouille, Babette’s Feast, Etc. Leguizamo played the line cook Martin, cooling his balls with corn starch. 9/10.

🍿 Lobster Soup, another slow, enchanting documentary from Iceland. It tells of Bryggjan, a small cafe in a tiny fishing town and the few locals who’s been gathering there for 40 years. The place had slowly become the cultural center of the town. Surprisingly, it was made by a Spanish director. 9/10.

🍿 I never heard of Dinner Rush before, even though it got good reviews when it came out in 2000, and was favorably-compared to other food-porn movies of the past. That Bob Giraldi, the director, was a NYC restaurateur himself, helped the authenticity of the kitchen drama (even though I’ll argue there were ‘too many cooks’). The background story is about some mafia guys trying to muscle in on Danny Aiello, the owner of the restaurant. Vivian Wu played a waitress who looked notably like AOC.

🍿 “… If I die, I’m going to do it stoned, and smiling in my bed…”

Repeated re-watch, American Ultra, a clever action-comedy about an artistic stoner, who’s actually a dormant Ultra super-agent. Jesse Eisenberg is the last person you’d expect to play a ruthless killing machine, so his love for girlfriend Kristen Stewart is the key to this innovative story. Leguizamo played “Rose”, his crazed drug dealer. To be watched while stoned.

Coraline, after Neil Gaiman’s Gothic dark story for kids. (Clip Above). A nightmarish vision of parallel world discovered by a lonely girl with too-busy parents. I can see why Adora had become obsessed with this story as of yet. Even her accent is similar to Coraline. The stop-motion animation was stupendous too. My favorite discovery of the week.

So after Coraline, I returned to the earlier Haunted House fantasy, Tim Burton’s Gothic comedy Beetlejuice. Weird and original Disnyfied vision of the after-life. With young Winona Rider and Dick Cavett. The Harry Belafonte’s Banana Boat scene. 4/10.

3 Titanic-adjacent films:

🍿 James Cameron’s masterful Titanic, first re-watch in 20+ years. Ambitious myth-making saga combining epic romance and maritime disaster. Still gripping suspense, pathos & thrills, played luxuriously with Enya-styled score, and exact skills. 3 hours and 14 minutes long, it is divided into two perfect halves: the first half is building the love, and at 1:38:00 they hit the iceberg. With a continual final shot. 9/10.  

🍿 Cameron’s very first short film, Xenogenesis, financed with $20,000 from a local dentist (who backed out after seeing the rushes). An experimental indie sci-fi with the seed concept for Terminator. Very badly done, and it didn’t help that the YouTube copy is very low-quality. 1/10.

🍿 Gloria Stuart was 87 when she played the old Rose in Titanic. She was 23 when she starred in The Invisible Man, James Whale’s brilliant horror classic. 7/10.

Immersion, a slow, ominous thriller from Chile. A father takes his two grown daughters sailing on a lake. He sees a sinking boat, but because the far-away occupants look 'suspicious’, he turns a blind eye to them and hurries away. The uneasy, suspenseful tragedy that follow reminded me of ‘Straw dogs’, even though there was no violence or assaults present, or a 2021 version of Polanski’s ‘Knife in the water’.

Recommended - but not for me: These types of films fill me with too much anxiety.

3 delightful shorts:

🍿 Jon Lefkovitz’s In perfect unison - where two characters do or say the same thing at the same time. A supercut using 100+ moments throughout film and television history, set to the tune of TV on the Radio's "Second Song".

🍿 Out of sight, a very cute story in Studio Ghibli style that doesn’t ever mention that the little girl is blind.

🍿 “...Our lower classes are desperately trying to escape the meteor through discount time travel...”

World of tomorrow, still my favorite science fiction film of all times, Genius animator Don Hertzfeldt’s Oscar nominated mind-bending, surreal masterpiece, “One of the greatest short films in the history of movies”. Free to re-watch on YouTube. 10/10.

In the recent My Next Guest with David Letterman he flew to Kiev and interviewed Volodymyr Zelenskyy at an underground station, in front of a small audience. It’s moving and tragic.

Can’t forget that Zelenskyy came first to prominence on live TV when he played the piano with his pecker.

Never heard of Andrew Callaghan, a 25-Year-old YouTube ‘Gonzo Journalist’, who just released This Place Rules, a wild documentary about the events leading to the January 6th insurrection attempt. He traveled around the country in his own RV, interviewing the craziest nuts and out-there Nazis, Alex Jones wannabees, toothless soothsayers, foreskin conspirators, and a bunch of Q-anon fanatics as they prepare themselves for the fascist revolution. Unsettling.

Adam McKay’s first film, Anchorman, a loud, low-brow and obnoxious ‘comedy’, with the always-insufferable Will Ferrell. Old-fashioned sexism geared for young teenage males made this a big hit. One point for coining the phrase ‘That escalated quickly’. 2/10.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice review

I'll get right to it. It was fun. Beetlejuice is not my favorite Tim Burton movie. That distinction goes to Sleepy Hollow (direction), and Nightmare before Christmas (story / characters). I did grow up with the Beetlejuice animated series. When I was about eight or nine-years-old it was my favorite show. And I actually preferred the show to the movie though I always loved that final scene of teenaged Lydia dancing to Jump in the Line. I remember when I was about ten, on New Years Eve or close to it, I asked my mother to tape Beetlejuice on HBO for me because I was too tired and knew I couldn't stay up to do it, myself. And I emphasized to please get the end credits, because that last scene was my favorite part. I am trying to establish my history with this franchise before I get into this review. When I saw Nightmare before Christmas at age eleven I became obsessed with the work of Tim Burton and composer Danny Elfman, simultaneously. I strongly feel that if I was twelve or thirteen-years-old I'd definitely appreciate this Beetlejuice sequel a lot more than I do though I did like it. Lydia (who now has a show called Ghost House) is still haunted by Beetlejuice, who is waiting for her to one day need him and call upon him. He now has a netherworld telemarketing type set up with a bunch of shrunken head people (probably provided by the witch doctor) serving as his employees. His second in command is one he calls Bob. When Lydia's daughter gets tricked into trading places with a ghost in The Netherworld, Lydia finally, reluctantly calls on Beetlejuice for help. He makes her sign a Faustian contract in her own blood agreeing to marry him. The movie is fun. it takes a while for the "main plot" to get rolling but when it does it really hooks you. The storyline about Astrid (Jenna Ortega) and the boy, Jeremy, reminded me, weirdly of American Horror Story, Murder House. Though they did use The Banana Boat Song (Day-o) for a funeral scene, I still miss the Harry Belafonte music sprinkled in like the first movie. And I have to admit though the scene it was used in was great, I am not a big fan of MacArthur Park. I actually think the song is a little annoying, not as annoying as Rock Lobster, but still annoying. But I do understand why it was chosen. It was fun, slightly disjointed, and some of the plots were unnecessary but I liked it just the same. I'll have to watch it a few times before I can determine if I like it as much as (or even more than) then original but I like it enough that I do want to watch it again.

My favorite moment (not really scene but moment) is when Beetlejuice stamps Jeremy's passport. You'll understand when you get to the scene. It seems the sequel borrows a little from all previous versions of Beetlejuice, from the animated series, to even the Broadway musical. Biggest complaint: MacArthur Park is stuck in my head and I don't even like that song that much!

okay full thoughts, which no one wanted or asked for, on the HM movie. credentials: i am a big weird haunted mansion nerd. warning for mild spoilers

the scene-level writing was very, very bad. it felt like they had plot beats sketched out and the actors improvised around that and the CGI artists improvised around that

they not only included one million things from the ride as cute nods (expected), they did a pretty good job of organizing the scattered lore and random bits of the ride into the backbone of the plot (less expected), which i appreciated as the target audience for that effort (at least one lesson was learned from the eddie murphy version, i guess)

though the direct recreation of the attic scene means we have the same problem with the attic scene as I do in the ride, which is that it has nothing to do with anything else and i don't think Constance is that interesting!!! give me spooky nameless glowing heart bride or give me death!

i loved jamie lee curtis russian princess leota IRL but why was her makeup in crystal ball form a) cgi b) horrible

the CGI was noticeably bad overall. just really rough

the costumes were a bright spot in an otherwise pretty poor production. i mean, i clocked that a bunch of shots were straight up out of focus, and I'm not a cinephile who's looking for those things. but all the different ghosts looked great in their little outfits! and the contemporary costumes were unique and interesting!

i loved that the story didn't shy away from having many (attempted) beats of emotional sincerity! and the theme about grief! those were the right ideas! shame almost none of those scenes landed!

making fun of the dinner theater guy was the funniest thing in the movie. really everything that happened in mansion #2 rocked and I loved it

speaking of which: owen wilson in an overlarge fireplace in a haunted mansion with a secret compartment below it where the ghost baddie hid the bodies...... The Haunting (1999) reference????

SPEAKING OF WHICH: the kid getting spooked by a tarantula in that scene........ eddie murphy haunted mansion reference??????

okay that one's a stretch but it does bring to mind how the zombie/ spider scene in that movie was gnarlier than anything in this movie by far

bananas that they set up danny devito having a heart condition and having no friends outside of the main characters and being obsessed with the mansion but he doesn't die and become a ghost ??

look. i know it's a kids movie but someone needed to die and hang around as the Ghost Friend. i don't make the rules

this movie should have been pg-13 and substantially spookier. it tried hard to be funny and mostly failed, but it didn't make any attempt at all at the slow dread and not-explicitly-ghostly creepiness that embodies the first half of the ride.

speaking of which: this is disney adult insider baseball but the whole tizzy with adding the hatbox ghost to the ride before the seance scene, breaking the ride lore/ narrative, kind of, sort of, is even funnier in context of the movie and HBG being a nominal movie tie-in because it makes that choice make even LESS sense.

(that said fwiw i don't really care about it, there's not really a good place to insert him and i don't think the narrative element that's at risk here as such makes an impact on 99.99% of people's experiences)

(like. i love the haunted mansion ride so much but little leota doesn't make any sense either. it's all fine)

the movie DID do a pretty good job of representing the 'celebratory ghostly chaos' element of the ride which was nice to see captured, and 'being a ghost rocks and we want to hang here and party' is indeed the correct ending for almost any haunted mansion-derivative story I can think of. the eddie murphy version explicitly sending everyone to heaven was, uh, bad

GULAG for everyone involved in the product placement. jail 100 years. the ADRed-in line about baskin robbins in the midst of the monologue about how Ben's wife died? a war crime

in the end, the muppets haunted mansion movie is still the superior ride adaptation. see you in 2050 when they try again though

whoever is responsible for all the truly egregious brand placements in the new haunted mansion should be drawn and quartered. scariest thing in that movie was the capitalist synergy

Dagger Squad Headcanons | Part 2

LOGAN "YALE" LEE

Originally from the Bay Area (San Francisco), he got into Yale (his first college choice) when he was 17. He was set to study in the medical field.

He saw the Blue Angels perform when he was home during his summer break and immediately thought: I wanna do that, I can do that.

He finished his senior year and earned a Bachelor in Kinesiology and immediately enlisted in the Navy as an E-4. Going right to officer's school for flight aviation after his first deployment.

He's the youngest child in his family with three older sisters.

His oldest sister, Ashley (Ae-cha, 애차) is a cardiologist. His middle sister, Chelsea (Chung-ha, 김청하) is a professor at Berkley. And his other sister, Hanna (Ha-yoon, 하윤) is a concert violinist.

His Korean name is Seo-jun (서준), which means naturally talented.

The reason he picked Logan as his English name was because he was absolutely obsessed with X-men growing up. He dressed up as Wolverine two years in a row for Halloween.

He loves the Golden State Warriors. As a kid, he had dreams of becoming a point guard for the team but ultimately lost his drive for a basketball scholarship around eighth grade.

Do not get this man started on Steph Curry. He will not shut up about him.

In his off-time, he does trick shots on the court. He dominates games of Horse and will literally decimate the competition.

He also enjoys spinning basketballs on his finger - it took him all summer when he was nine to figure out that trick.

He was known as DJ Lee throughout middle school because he was constantly burning music onto CDs from Napster for his classmates. He ran the underground music market at the time and saved up enough money from the illegal sales to buy his first flip phone. His parents still have no idea about his young enterprise.

This man is obsessed with banana milk. He drinks at least, bare minimum, two a day.

He swears by eating ginger rice before he flies because it'll settle his stomach better than anything.

His rotating music consists of a lot of classic west coast rappers (Tupac, Dre, Snoop, Easy E, etc.). But he definitely has a secret playlist dedicated to Ariana Grande.

If he has a fully choreographed dance routine for "Dangerous Woman", that is strictly between him and his bathroom mirror, okay?

BRIGHAM "HARVARD" LENNOX

If it wasn't obvious from the name, Harvard is from Utah.

The family farm consists of twenty acres of rolling hills and goats. Just so many goats.

He is the second oldest out of his eight siblings - five brothers and three sisters. He's closest to his sister, Jocelyn who is two years younger than him.

He was a band kid (third trombone). He joined because his fifth grade teacher asked if he would be auditioning for it and he just went yeah, okay.

Also a swimmer on the high school swim team. His best friend at the time asked if he'd be trying out and he just went yeah, okay.

He broke the school record for the backstroke and the butterfly. He's the reason the team made regionals.

This may surprise people, but he has a really amazing singing voice and performed in the spring musical each year. He played both the Beast in Beauty and the Beast (junior year) and Danny from Grease (senior year).

Jocelyn asked him if he'd be putting that shower concert singing to any good use and he just said yeah, okay and he became a theater kid.

The drama/economy teacher told him to put in his college apps to more than just one university, since his parents really wanted him to go to BYU, and he thought just the one application would do.

No one expected Harvard to extend the invitation for him to attend in the fall, least of all Harvard himself. But his grades were all there and he had the stunning recommendations to match, so... to Harvard he went.

He earned a Bachelor in Engineering Sciences.

At the end of term, there were army recruiters just about everywhere within walking distance of campus. Lo and behold, Harvard crossed paths with a Navy recruiter who asked if he ever considered serving his country. He just looked at him and said yeah, okay.

Joining the Navy as an E-4, he served for barely six months before his CO recommended him for officer's school.

Look, people think Harvard is a simple guy. But he's just overly polite and eager to please. He went to Harvard University, after all. And he graduated from the Top Gun program when he was 26. He is very good at what he does.

He doesn't drink. Okay, he let's himself have one drink when he's out with the squad. But he's usually a designated driver.

He dominates at strategy games. Back home, he has a cupboard full of board games that his family almost flat out refuses to play with him because he's just that good. Do not let this man near a Monopoly board.

Absolutely loves chili cheese fries. Even the bad ones they serve in the mess hall. He will literally never turn down a basket of them.

He has a watch collection. All with different purposes (formal events, hiking, first date, etc.). And he usually spends a good chunk of his pay on a new purchase.

His Spotify consists of a lot of musical theater numbers, Dolly Parton, and Nirvana (oddly enough).

Planica - Sunday, 27. 3. 2022 - Recap

here we go, the annual planica recap and with it the planica spam is making its return, and in my humble opinion, it may as well be the best one yet (or maybe my brain just forgot what it has been missing out on the past 3 years). so, while you have been freaking out about sevi dropping a bomb about retirement, i have been blissfully oblivious to what's been going on on tumblr because of the following:

it felt so good coming there I forgot how different it hits when you are driving in a bus together with people who are just as obsessed with planica

it was freaking cold there when I came there but at the end i was wearing only a t-shirt and leggings asdfghj

yukia came to the hill in the morning and did a whole ass workout/warmup and people around me were in awe how flexible he was (honestly same)

halvor also came but he literally stayed 2 seconds asdf

i was taking a pic of joachim and he noticed me and waved i wanted the ground to swallow me

marius waved at two women behind me (biggest fangirls i love them) but let me pretend he also waved back to me

you should hear the collective gasp when tande came and plonked himself on the bench below (and did not leave the whole fucking competition i never wanted my eyes to be on both sides of my head more)

danny proceeded to look up and pell off layers of clothing while eating a banana i'm fine

oh also he was wearing a slovenian cap???

also heggli and pedersen were walking around all the time and kept tickling eachother? wholesome

i had the privilege of seeing maren ahhh she emits queen energy wherever she goes

domen casually jumped around 240m both times as a trial jumper noone knew what was going on

there was a moment before the competition when they played the slovenian anthem and literally everyone froze in their places and sung it it was overwhelming

there was a moment when everyone went mad and did not know how to jump less that 230m (it's safe to say that i didn't have a voice for solid 10 minutes)

WALTER WAS THERE they gave him a gift as a thank you and he was so happy ahhh

they gave cene a microphone between the rounds and he lowkey scolded us "now I'm going to yell at you, where have you been the whole weekend, i obviously needed YOU for a good jump"

won't ever forget the moment when i casually looked my phone between the rounds (there really was no time before) and tumble was spammed with messages about sevi retiring it felt like i was the only person on that damn tribune that knew

i cheered extra loud for him for all of you i hope you could hear me

kenneth coming to watch the second round and danny once again plonking himself on the bench next to him (don't touch me)

i teared up a lil while stephan was jumping not gonna lie

deschwanden was walking around lika a man on a mission idk what he was doing

I love them dearly, and your characterization of them is beautifully realistic in a way anime-boys-in-a-murder-school have no right to be, haha. I'm going to put a read more on this, just to help with dashboard clogging, as this got super long. As usual 😂😂 Though Tumblr's new long post thing might help with that, so who knows. But I'm used to using read mores, so... meh.

Ohhh boy, do I have a ton of other interests. 😂😂 My most recent fandoms that I've gotten into are Our Flag Means Death (which I'm so happy got renewed for a second season!! I loved the first one, so much. I hope it doesn't kill me with feels though!!!!), Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (And Apollo Justice, which I just finished), and Banana Fish (which is actually the only anime show I've seen, and while I highly recommend it if you've not seen it, you have to be careful since it's SUPER dark. Like... it's about a literal gang from New York and child trafficking. The main characters remind me a lot of Taka and Mondo, but even more depressing. Very good, but very dark.)

Then, of course, you've got my all time favorites, which include Harry Potter (though I've lost a lot of love for the series thanks to J.K. I can't ignore it, though, since it straight up shaped my teenage years and I STILL go by the name I made for my HP themed FB page when I was 13, DracotheDeathEatingCupcake. And I still love the characters, even now, so... yeah. But I fully support trans people and J.K. makes me sick), Supernatural (Destiel all the way, ha), Gravity Falls (and, for the record, I DO NOT like BillDip in canon! I liked it in fanon, which is why my most popular fic is BillDip, okay?? Oof), Buffy the Vampire Slayer (this one shaped my teenage years almost as much as Harry Potter, honestly. Spuffy is my fav of all time, even now. It sucks that Joss Whedon was such a creep. Why are all the things I liked as a kid made by terrible people??), and, surprisingly... Batman. That's a surprise since I don't like the majority of Batman things, and I more like the image of him I have in my mind, ha.

In addition to those, I've also had some big obsessions with the following: Rise of the Guardians, Danny Phantom, Legend of Zelda, The Hobbit/Lord of the Rings (the former more than the latter, actually. Also!!! I've been to the actual Hobbiton!!! I'll show pictures later, ha), Avatar the Last Airbender, She-Ra (the new Netflix one), Voltron (also the Netflix one), The MCU, Merlin BBC, Detroit: Become Human, Good Omens, The Witcher, Hunger Games (😉), Percy Jackson and.... god, a lot more prolly, but this is already a pretty extensive list, ha.

However, if you want the ones I've created and published fics for, I will list them in order from most recent to oldest here. Warning, it's a lot, ha. I've been writing since I was 13 (11 years, FYI), and I don't think a year has gone by where I've not written and published at least one fic.

Ishimondo from Danganronpa (duh, ha. I think I've written more Ishimondo than any other fandom other than HP, but most of my HP stuff was back when I was a young teen and was max 3k words each, so Ishimondo beats it word count wise by a long shot, ha.)

Merthur (Merlin/Arthur) from BBC's Merlin (which is actually the other 375k fic I wrote in a month and a half that I've mentioned before. This one got a little messy towards the end, since I tried my hand with a plot for the first time, and it was.... eh. People seemed to like it at least, so that's something, ha. But it was unique in that I started writing it when I was, like... 16/17, lost inspiration, and only continued writing when I found it again on my ancient iPod touch's note app several years later.)

Destiel (Dean/Castiel) from Supernatural (I actually have another fic for Destiel that is completely finished and I actually really like, but I just... have not posted???? For some reason?????? I keep meaning to but don't have time 😩 Maybe one day. Like maybe around the two year anniversary of Destiel becoming canon, and the two year anniversary of me finishing the fic 😂 Also, fun fact, but my first fic on AO3 was a Destiel fic. It wasn't my first fic ever, but my first fics will live on in infamy on fanfiction . net and will die a cold, cold death when that website finally goes belly up.)

An Avatar the Last Airbender fic that focuses on Lu Ten, Iroh's son (I love Zukka, but could never think of an idea for them, so I never wrote one for them. I had the idea for the Lu Ten fic after seeing a Tumblr post wondering about an AU where Lu Ten was secretly an earth bender, and HAD to write it. The first two chapters are pretty solid, but the last four... eh. Could do with some work.)

Hank/Connor, from Detroit: Become Human (I was weirdly obsessed with this game for a hot minute in 2019?? I still like it, but it was a pretty big thing for me then, ha. This fic of mine is another where I tried to have a plot, but it turned out meh. That's why my most recent fics have no real plot, and is mostly driven by emotion and details, ha. I'm much better at that than real plots.)

A Tony and Steve (from the MCU, ha) family fic (NOT ROMANTIC) where Steve is kid Tony's distant but loving uncle after Steve (spoilers for end game????? Ha) goes into the past to be with Peggy. It was a fix it fic of sorts.

BatJokes (Batman/Joker) from Batman, but more specifically, Bruce Wayne/John Doe from TellTale's Batman series (I had the idea for this fic when I was in a Target after having finished the second game and wrote it for like... 10 hours straight, ha. Fun fact, but this fic is actually the best fic I have in terms of kudos to hit ratio, with a ratio of over 1:1, if that means anything to anyone, ha.)

BillDip (Bill Cipher/Dipper Pines) from Gravity Falls (but like I said, I liked the fanon interpretation of BillDip!!! Not canon, since in canon, Dipper Pines is 12 and Bill Cipher is a homicidal ageless demon who is The Worst, but in a funny way. The fanon interpretation still wasn't great, but it was less bad to me when I was, like... 16.)

Stanley Pines and Stanford Pines from Gravity Falls family fics (I separated this from the last since it was its own thing, ha. Not much to say about these other than it was my first series and kind of started my whole "write from the other perspective" thing, since I first wrote a fic from Stan's perspective, then wrote one from Ford's.)

BagginShield (Bilbo Baggins/Thorin Oakenshield) from The Hobbit (I am gonna be honest. I really disliked the Hobbit when I had to read it for a book report in, like... 10th grade I think?? But I LOVED the movies, even if the third movie was kind of pointless. I liked how Richard Armitage played Thorin, and how the movie gave the dwarves a much better a reason for wanting to go back to the Lonely Mountain than, uh.... I want gold. -.-)

And now I will put the fandoms/ships for fics that are either on FF . net and are not seeing the light of day (unless someone really is curious, but, uh... they're not very good and it's obvious a 13-14 year old wrote them, ha) or are in WIP Hell and will likely never get out. Also from most recent to oldest.

BlackBonnet (Edward Teach/Stede Bonnet) from Our Flag Means Death (this fic sadly landed in WIP hell despite me writing it for a week and a half straight and ending up with almost 100k words. But I realized I didn't like the way I wrote it, and I didn't know how to end it, which is just... yeah, disheartening, but I had fun writing it at least.)

WrightWorth (Miles Edgeworth/Phoenix Wright) from Ace Attorney (I actually have a completely finished one shot that was originally gonna be a longer fic, but works as a one shot, but again, I just keep not having the time/inspiration to post, oof. I also had started a longer fic with an OC young girl that Edgeworth fosters after her father gets murdered, and Phoenix helps him with her despite (spoilers for Apollo Justice) being all jaded after being disbarred, but I got a bit stuck with it and realized it was a meh plot, so... it's also now in WIP hell forever, RIP.)

Drarry (Draco Malfoy/Harry Potter) from Harry Potter (this ship is both one that is in WIP hell and is on ff . net, ha. The one in WIP hell is actually pretty good, but I just ran out of drive to finish writing. It's funny since I knew exactly where it was gonna go, but, uh... yeah, just ran out of drive. The one on ff . net is slightly better than my other older stuff on ff . net, but that's only because I was slightly older when I wrote it, ha. It's still Not Good.)

Dramione (Draco Malfoy/Hermione Granger) from Harry Potter (This is entirely from ff . net, and it was actually my first real OTP. I don't ship them anymore, like... at all, since I'm more a Drarry girl, but it still holds a special place in my heart, ha. It also contains one of my better named fics, which I'm sure is the only reason it still gets views on ff . net even 11 years later, oof. All of my Dramione stuff is trash, though. Also, fun fact, but I only started liking Dramione because of A Very Potter Musical/Sequel. Ha.)

Spuffy (Spike/Buffy) from Buffy the Vampire Slayer (I think this was all one shots, nothing too substantial. None good either, ha. I do adore Spuffy though.)

And now, finally, I have a small list of fics I wrote on FF . net that were either for a friend, or were fun things I wrote but didn't really like the ship much for, ha. All are from Harry Potter, FYI.

Scorpius Malfoy/Lily Potter, which was actually the first fic I ever wrote, which I handwrote on paper during lunch time when I was in 7th grade, ha. I eventually transcribed it to my computer a year later, but it was the first fic I wrote and I didn't even like the ship that much, ha.

Draco Malfoy/Astoria Greengrass, which I only wrote for an online 'friend' who said it was derivative and had been done before. This was also a 'friend' who hated when I would call myself awesome (ironically, since I didn't like myself that much when I was a teen) because I was, and I quote, 'not awesome, so stop calling yourself that.' Yeah. She, uh... was not a great friend.

Lucius Malfoy/Professor Flitwick. Don't... don't even ask. I used to do HP roleplay, and I did an RP as the parents of the main characters, and I was Lucius and my friend was Flitwick, and I wrote this for him. It was my first (and, for the longest time, only) smut fic, and it's, uh....... yeah. Also! I just realized that those RP things showed a lot of indication that I was ace even before I knew what asexuality was, ha. I just remembered this, but I realize now that I never liked RPing smut, even when my friends were all "aw come on, it's not that bad!!!" But it always embarrassed me, so I only would do it with the people I trusted, and even then it felt weird to me (which was also in part because I was, like... 13-15. So were my friends, though, so don't get worried, ha). And my previously mentioned 'friend' (but different to the friend I did the weird smut fic for) got offended that I would write it with someone else but not her. Now that I think of it, my RP years were, uh... not great ones, wow. No wonder I've mostly blocked them out, ha.

Anyway!!! Wow did that end up long, oof. I hope this answered your question, because by this point I don't think I can even parse this response anymore, ha. I've also done art work for other fandoms, both digital and hand drawn, but if I add that this response will be never ending, oof. Maybe I'll see if I can link to my previously mentioned FB page (that I'm still active on, actually), where I have almost all of my old artwork posted, if anyone is still reading this and is curious. His head was already spinning but it didn’t help his case when the other had picked up the banana and starts to eat it. Dirty things started to evade Williams brain as he tried so hard not to stare and watch the way he eats but it was too late and he was already hard. He quickly used his magic to make a small pillow appear before covering his lap with it and eating a few strawberries, hoping that this picnic would be over soon.

Axel was in the park near the Todai dorms playing Go against himself like the nerd he is, a copy of Demien by Hermann Hesse laid face down on the table next to him as he concentrated on his next move. He moved his stone into position and didn't notice someone had taken the vacant seat across from him until he went to move the opponent's stone and touched someone's hand. His hand tingled all the way up his arm as he looks up at the stranger. Pulling his hand back, Axel blushes. "I'm sorry, I didn't realize anyone had joined me." He says shyly.

THIS SHOWS HUMOR IS SO UNEXPECTED SOMETIMES ITS REALLY GOOD. and then the scene after, mr lancer running into his ghost doppelganger and being like 'YOURE GORGOUS' THEN FAINTING. I AM CRYING. AND DASH FAINTING TOO.

-sam disguising herself as danny again to help tucker run from the fentons. but leaving him shirtless in the streets. incredible. 'plEASE DOnt NOTice MY FACELessNESS I MUST LIVE IN EXILE' this episode is destroying me the humor in this show is exactly my brand of corny and cheesy

-the impromtu story made up by danny and amorpho to explain stuff to the fentons. my god they are both such bad liars. but amorpho is a good egg. wish danny wouldnt have said he didnt wanna see him in town again!! I want him to be reoccurring. not that thats gonna matter since I'm almost done with the series, but the idea of this being the Only Time We See him is :(

-NEXT EP SAYS STARRING MARK HAMILL??????!!! hello ! mr . joker....mr. star wars.... I feel like I should be. idk. taking off a hat im not wearing in respect. I shouldnt be surprised tho bc hes in a lot of cartoons as a very good voice actor, and dp has already had a lot of talented ones so I've been looking out for ones I might know, but....mr. hamill....

-sam has her own greenhouse, names all the plants, and says thank you to them (in the languages from where the plants are from) whenever she harvests from them. thats SO cute. and her lil gothy lunch box...

-frostbite's paws are so so so big compared to danny. oh my god. i want to hug the snow dog...

-the far frozen has an advanced medical stuff!!! very cool. very smart snow dogs

-im so glad danny has a friendly ghost snow dad to explain this new power and teach him!!! this is so sweet. DANNY'S GHOST SENSE WAS A PART OF HIS ICE POWER?? OOOH. COOL. we love a training montage!!!

-danny saying if he cant defeat overgrowth, that he'd want to stay with frostbite...oh my god...do you think this is the first real supportive adult figure in his life (I am NOT counting his parents because they threaten him on the daily even if they dont realize it.) I mean mr lancer is a Teacher, but he was also nice but this is different, but this is a GHOST WHO IS WILLING TO HELP HIM with his powers and also will help him when hes injured and is so so nice and comparatively so much more mature than 90% of the adults in this show!!!! god. dad frostbite is my everything.

-the framing and lighting this episode, and all the angles...they went all OUT and it looks really really good. this is my nightmare scenario, tho. like, FUCK zombies and dead city zones and hivemind shit. and using the humans as 'nutrients for the children' i am going to THROW UP.

-MALEFICENT VIBES WITH THE HORNS AND GREEN EYES! this costume kicks so much ass. sam is now mark hamills daughter, I guess.

-danny's ice powers making his eyes blue!!! thats neat. and him going for the roots underground was SO SMART. i will not stand for danny ever thinking hes stupid, hes SO smart.

Okay so I totally want to see a NY based cop show crossover fic with Banana Fish how has this not been done??! Like Olivia Benson or Danny Reagon would be so protective of Ash!!!! OKAY i’ve gotten like 4 listens in so i’m ready. i’ll preface this by saying i know some people haven't been into the remix singles they've been putting out but i’ve really liked most of them. i think this album was just hyped up so much that it was getting to the point where i was nervous sort of like with charli last fall but BRO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they delivered WHEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

first impressions:

xxi_wud_nvrstop_üxx was my first favorite gecs song and the hannah/tommy version is totally fucking donkey kong bananas on a level i was not ready for. unironically song of the year i was screaming at the top of my lungs

i was especially excited for the danny l harle remix he posted a picture of him working on it MONTHS ago and i’ve been waiting for it like a little troll under a bridge. there’s something danny does with the texture of his synths that no one else can beat i think everything he does is genius

the umru ringtone remix!!!!!!!! FINALLY!!!!!!!!! he played it at a few of the shows i saw him at in brooklyn and i was worried that they’d only put out the charli/rico/kkb version. that dream pop outro ... ascension. obsessed w the pitching of the phone vibrating on the table sound as percussion

745 sticky black dresses remix is objectively the best track on this album

laura’s vocals on gecgecgec make me kinda emotional lol seeing her live you could tell there were moments where she was self conscious of her voice and on the rerecorded hook she is BELTING I LOVE HER

and, finally, i’m so glad they decided to include came to my show and toothless. like i can imagine they saw how many listens those songs got on soundcloud and they very much deserve to get paid for those streams. there’s such a weird sort of economy to pc music since it was started by affluent people and streams and monetizing content wasn’t really a concern (original pc music artists almost never upload anything and soundcloud rips are commonplace) but at the same time, one of it’s major statements was critiquing capitalist-driven art. now that there are a lot more (normal) people involved in the genre, i think there has to be a shift to provide financial sustainability because their ideas are being used by HUGE artists and they need to be compensated for that contribution to mainstream pop. i digress
