So I saw The Sign on Bluey and AaaaaaaAAAaaaa it was a beautiful episode that everyone and their mom could go on about for HOURS but, today I wanna just talk about Brandy. At the end we see Brandy coming to Frisky's wedding, pregnant. In the episode Onesies it's shown that Brandy wants a family of her own like her sister Chili does, but doesn't have one.

I'm so happy that Brandy has a chance now of having a family, but it also makes me wonder - is she married? Dating? Artificially inseminated? She is never seen with a partner in the series. Either way, I'm happy for her and she's excited as well.

A lot of parents watching Bluey interpreted Onesies as being a reference to Brandy being infertile or having had a miscarriage, which is highly likely. As a single adult though, I couldn't help but relate to Brandy in a special way. It's hard working as a teacher/behavior analyst and being single, being with kids and their families every day, being asked if I have a family of my own or if I plan to start one, being told that I would be so good at it. Of course it would be nice one day to be like them. To have my own partner, maybe even a family once I feel ready.

And like Brandy wasn't able to have a baby like her sister - possibly because of a past miscarriage - I had almost gotten to where I could start a family. 5 years ago, I once had a partner that promised to marry me, and he left me before our engagement was officially announced. And it hurt. Like Brandy, why couldn't I just have what I wanted? Because it wasn't meant to be. And honestly, I'm glad I didn't marry him. He wasn't really right for me in the first place, and I don't miss him, I don't even think about him or what our relationship was like, barely remember what he looks like. But that doesn't mean I'm very happy being single either. That is something I'd like to work on. And I know I have some of my own issues to overcome to make me even feel capable of being a good partner - and that feeling in itself is just as painful, like maybe I'll never truly deserve my own independence, or a good partner or family someday. Like it will never be meant to be. But, just like Brandy got her happy moment in The Sign, there's always a chance that I could grow and change and maybe one day have someone to call my own, God willing. Or I can grow and change and learn to be truly happy being single, become independent and have the funds to afford living on my own. 🧡🤍🧡

I recreated the Broke Family from The Sims 2 in The Sims 4! Skip Broke's mysterious ladder pool accident has left Brandi to be a single mom, raising her two sons Dustin and Beau. Little does she know she is expecting another baby as well! 😭

Within the download zip file you'll find the following: ➕ Required CC packages (it's a very short list!) ➕ Tray Files for the Broke household ➕ A text file with a list of required packs for the Broke household (only available for reference; doesn't need to be added anywhere!!)

For the most part, I tried to keep the pack usage to a minimum. If you don't have a few of the packs needed, there are easy swaps in Base Game that you could make without completely changing the sims looks! That was very important to me.

Also the CC I used could be easily swapped with in-game options. Primarily, I use some skin details that won't significantly impact the sims looks if they were not included or added to your game.

**If you have the Growing Together Expansion Pack, all sims will have assigned familial dynamics. Preferences were not designated. These sims will not come with skills, jobs, or degrees. I'll leave these things up to you to decide and play them how you'd like 😉

For some strange reason most mother’s day gifts have a soft, pinkish, fuzzy, candle-y, cursive letter-y, milk chocolate-y feel with a major dash of essential oil diffusers. I could never relate haha AND that’s not the feel I get from most of the mothers I know. The moms I know are fighters, strong, beautiful, sharp, determined and brave. And we need to celebrate ourselves… with an appropriate gift. I bring to you the Beautiful cocktail - strong, balanced, intoxicating - just like the mothers I know. It is a sipping cocktail (not that we have any time for swirling snifters). The Beautiful cocktail has only two ingredients - the equal parts of two spirits: Cognac and Grand Marnier. With the aged golden cognac representing the mind of a mother (wise, creative, sharp, multitasking, problem-solving, prompt, adopting, logical) and the fragrant orange brandy representing mother’s heart (loving, selfless, forgiving, intense, kind and hurting). Together they create a beautiful and balanced experience. I raise a glass to the mothers who when tragedies strike, learn, adopt and keep being mothers.

The prize for this raffle will be the Beautiful cocktail kit (see details below). All of the money that will be raised through this raffle will be sent to my aunt Lyudmyla who lives in Druzhkovka (eastern Ukraine). Though not biologically a mother, Lyudmyla became a mother to many hungry, scared and lonely people in her town and beyond. When I talk to her, she often mentions women who reach out to her asking for help. She mentions single moms with multiple kids who couldn’t leave from Druzhkovka because they don’t have anywhere to go; then there are mothers and wives of the Ukrainian soldiers who can’t sleep and eat because of panic and gripping fear; she also mentioned a woman who lost her husband within last year to covid and who lost both of her kids when the kids were still young. Some mothers need diapers for their babies, some need medications, some - bread, some - human connection. These are very strong women who just got dealt a very bad hand and they need help.
