This week I've made it back around to Brandon Taylor's THE LATE AMERICANS. I've slowly been making it to the end of this nice slice of life series of short #stories about students. And it definitely has been great as the storylines and characters converged.

I think my favorite character is the first narrator in the novel Seamus, but there's quite a few interesting characters within. And the author just introduced another character. I want to say it's a new character. I'm still figuring that out. lol.

But the prose has been breathtaking throughout. I'm still jonesing on the little references like the #freierfall one. I cannot wait to see how it all ends.

Hi! Can you recommend me any short stories (or books with multiple short stories)? Preferably ownvoices. ( Also I love this blog so much thank youuu

Ooh yes, for books of short stories, personal fave is A Safe Girl to Love by Casey Plett - ownvoices short story book with trans woman MCs. Summer Love is a collection of cute romances. Another must is Love Beyond Body, Space, and Time, which is an ownvoices sci-fi anthology of all LGBT + 2-spirit stories by Native American authors - you can see more on that here. For some notable authors I’m embarrassingly behind on reading, Vivek Shraya has God Loves Hair and Ivan E. Coyote has One in Every Crowd. Also, I’m a little biased because I have a story in it, but I definitely recommend keeping the upcoming all-queer YA historical anthology All Out on your radar!

Awww it's that time again. Time for #sdcc2024. I am definitely looking forward to all the pictures I will be taking around my work schedule.

Oh, #YES. My work schedule. But bills do have to get paid. And I admit on my way to work appears to be the most time I have to get some #reading done.

This week it was more of Brandon Taylor's THE LATE AMERICANS. My current short story just gave a nice twist. Not expected, but completely realistic. I'm looking forward to how it ends.

Hello everyone hope your week has started off well, happy Monday to you all. I’m still off work but feeling a bit better and it’s a great chance to share another book haul with you! These are three paperbacks I’ve had my eye on. Variations is a debut short story collection where the history of transgender Britain is explored. After reading and thoroughly enjoying Detransition Baby earlier this year I’ve been eager to educate myself more. Filthy Animals is another short story collection, this time the stories are all linked and although I haven’t read the author’s previous Booker listed novel Real Life, it’s coming up fairly soon on my TBR, promise! 🙈😂 Finally we have The Weekend, a novel from Charlotte Wood. I loved her previous novel, The Natural Way Of Things and am excited to read more from her. This follows three women in their seventies who spend time together in the beach house of their late friend. I love stories from the POV of older protagonists and I’m looking forward to getting to know this group of ladies. If this is anything like Wood’s previous novel, it’ll have its dark moments and I am HERE for that! I’d love to know your thoughts on any of these books or authors, especially if you’ve read or want to read them. GOOD AFTERNOON, LIKERS!!! How is your #humpday going? Ready for the first days of #summer? Not to mention the upcoming full moon?

Well, I'm in at the moment. Today has been about some odds and ends. Yesterday, I had a lovely day at the park. Just #reading and being. Today would involve some catching up with the BFF so as much as I've enjoyed some idle time, I guess I should get to it.

It's time for EDITING, TYPING, and WRITING.

EDITING. Research #continues to go apace. I probably will be putting some time in today on that project that I have been working on.

As I continue to go through my research, I had to think about how my stories looked. Did I do any errors? Did I misname anyone? Was I forgetting to check anything?

So steady as it goes.

TYPING. And speaking of #research, it was a different kind of it this week in my Typing section.

It was time.

#Time to head back to the elusive blog. I kinda had a different idea in mind. But that was made moot a few days ago. So back to my #original idea.

Game on.

What do they all have in common? Well...I've been enjoying their prose over the last week or so. All different styles...and #genres...but their prose has been so intoxicating. I could even think about it in my head and just warm at how good it is.

And then I looked at myself in the mirror.

Cuz outside of journaling...I haven't written much this week. Still...that itch was there. And that itch was #growing.

And that's how this week was looking.

Hello everyone and happy #stacksaturday hope you’ve got some lovely plans this weekend? The weather has turned in the UK and it’s starting to feel quite chilly 🥶 so today I’m posting wintery looking books that spell out WINTER ❄️ Out of this little stack I’ve read Empire Of Storms (part of the Throne of Glass series) but all the rest are TBR.
