Hello everyone and welcome to the weekend! Hope you’ve all had a great week. Today it’s a rather muted book haul from me, it’s the #waveoflight2021 and strangely enough, I’m also hauling a book with quite a poignant title - perhaps it’s the universes way of telling me not to give up hope just yet? 🤔 Against The Loveless World is described as a sweeping and lyrical novel about a young Palestinian refugee who is slowly becoming radicalised as she fights to find a better life for her family. You Will Never Be Forgotten is a debut short story collection that looked too intriguing to ignore. Mary South explores how technology can both collapse our relationships from within and offer us an opportunity for a genuine connection. Finally, Anxious People is the new release in paperback from one of my favourite authors. It follows a crime that never took place, a would-be bank robber who disappears into thin air and eight extremely anxious strangers who find they have more in common than they realised. Hello everyone and hope you’re all well. Today I’m taking part in the #booktitlesthatdescribeme tag which I saw on the fantastic @salboreads page. Headstrong: 52 Women Who Changed Science - and the World - Rachel Swaby My actual day job is a scientist 👩‍🔬 and I’m Lab and Quality Lead for one region of Bowel Cancer Screening in England. Coincidentally I’m also quite headstrong (and stubborn 😂) and I love to feel like I’m making a difference although I wouldn’t say I was changing the world just yet! 🤣 Jamrach’s Menagerie- Carol Birch This is one of my favourite books 😍 and I’m definitely due a re-read of it soon. I picked it because if you follow my stories I have quite a menagerie of wild birds in my back garden that I’ve managed to tame 😆 Anxious People - Fredrik Backman I do suffer with anxiety and have done as long as I can remember. I feel I’m managing it a lot better as I get older but it can be tough! Expectation - Anna Hope I am a HUGE perfectionist and often put pressure and expectation on myself to be faultless, particularly at work. In my personal life, I’ve also felt the weight of expectation. Small Pleasures - Claire Chambers One of the books I loved this year this is a reminder to myself that I do feel so grateful for the small things in life and the loving people that surround me! You Will Never Be Forgotten - Mary South This is a tough one 😅 For those that don’t know me that well, I’ve had problems with fertility and losses over the past five years. The title says it all. And the reason for the random objects on the top? 😂 I’m kind of like a Russian doll, multiple layers to my personality. I can come across awkward and quiet when you first meet me but I’m fiercely loyal to those I love and 100% loopy. In a good way I hope!! 😂 And the puppy is because I adore dogs (and any animal to be fair) and I hope to get a real one soon! If you’d like to join in, please consider yourself tagged!
