Kapferer's Brand Identity Prism
Today's theme was all about branding! I learned about Kapferer's Brand Identity Prism.
This has been super helpful in deciding what I want my personal brand to be about.
Kapferer's Prism, sections brand image into 6 characteristics that are separated into 2 sections.
The Externalization component of a brand image are the exterior, outside that are perceived qualities of the brand:
Physical - the actual visual qualities that define a brand. (are their products minimal? bright? sleek? edgy? do they sell clothing? technology?) This quality is determined by the brand itself.
2. Relationship - How does the brand connect with their consumers and vice versa?
3. Reflection - How others perceive the consumers of that brand. Are they seen as smart? daring? rugged? youthful? This quality is determined by the consumer.
The Internalization component are the interior qualities within the brand:
4. Personality - The human characteristics that are given to a brand. If you were to imagine the brand as a person this is the type of person they would be. What would be their behaviors? What would be the way they view the world? This quality is determined by the brand itself.
5. Culture - the set of values and perspectives that are deemed important by the brand and by their customers. How does the brand and it's consumers view the world around them?
6. Self-Image - How do consumers feel when they use the brand? How do they view themselves when they are using the brand? This quality is up to the consumer.

The above caption is perfect for people in their mid-20s and 30s who have less time for gaming but are mostly office-goers. It addresses their pain point to have a silent, noiseless mouse in their offices so that they create less fuss when they play games.
Grab Attention
If your captions aren’t grabbing the attention of your readers, then what’s their purpose?
You must start with a bang with either a rhetorical question (like the one above), a bold statement, or an intriguing fact. This will captivate the audience and prompt them to engage with the post on your Instagram, Facebook, X (Twitter), etc.
In addition to the opening line being catchy, strategic use of Emojis is also very necessary to gain attention. This is because the human eye tends to catch up on the visual cues more often than not.
However, make sure that your Emojis are well-aligned with the text or photo/video that you’re posting.
So, if you’re talking about a gaming brand, then a 🎮 Emoji can be reasonable to add with the correct context. This will keep consistency in your messaging and the branding will be highly successful.
Inject Brand Personality
This is one of the most important talking points for this entire article. Captions are nothing without a bit of brand personality in them. Just consider the example of Freddy’s USA below.
The company intelligently carried its #Fredhead brand into its caption, setting its digital footprint widely on Instagram and amassing a loyal following.
However, make sure to be intelligent with the hashtags in your captions. Do it too much and you’ll ruin the entire branding/marketing campaign. Do it too less and you’ll never get the chance to sweat your competitors.

A/B Test Captions
A/B testing often refers to testing out different versions of the same thing. In our case, these are your X, Facebook, or Instagram post captions.
If you are a national/global brand, try out variations in your captions and see which ones provide you with better engagement metrics. However, you must keep the rest of the variables the same like the image/video attached, text written on post, etc.
According to brand and audience type, some regions may not like too much humor or sarcasm in captions while others might be more open to it.
Similarly, many communities are strictly religious and don’t want to discuss any related subjects in captions, while others might be a bit relaxed on such topics.
To each their own. But, remember to stick to what works and elevate your brand to the next level in no time.

Although all the steps we mentioned above are very solid to craft captivating captions for your posts. However, if you’re still facing any difficulties in doing the given procedures, then we have yet another option for your convenience.
