Kapferer's Brand Identity Prism

Today's theme was all about branding! I learned about Kapferer's Brand Identity Prism.

This has been super helpful in deciding what I want my personal brand to be about.

Kapferer's Prism, sections brand image into 6 characteristics that are separated into 2 sections.

The Externalization component of a brand image are the exterior, outside that are perceived qualities of the brand:

Physical - the actual visual qualities that define a brand. (are their products minimal? bright? sleek? edgy? do they sell clothing? technology?) This quality is determined by the brand itself.

2. Relationship - How does the brand connect with their consumers and vice versa?

3. Reflection - How others perceive the consumers of that brand. Are they seen as smart? daring? rugged? youthful? This quality is determined by the consumer.

The Internalization component are the interior qualities within the brand:

4. Personality - The human characteristics that are given to a brand. If you were to imagine the brand as a person this is the type of person they would be. What would be their behaviors? What would be the way they view the world? This quality is determined by the brand itself.

5. Culture - the set of values and perspectives that are deemed important by the brand and by their customers. How does the brand and it's consumers view the world around them?

6. Self-Image - How do consumers feel when they use the brand? How do they view themselves when they are using the brand? This quality is up to the consumer.

April 2023 Playlist: Spring Mix

This week I created my 11 track spring playlist, Spring Mix! I have officially finished all of my courses for my Art and Design Degree (I just have my summer work-term left). I've moved back to my hometown, and I'm currently posted up in my childhood bedroom. It's definitely brought on some interesting emotions but I'm excited to see what's next in store and to have some free time to enjoy the summer!

Anyway... Inside this newest playlist are some alternative and r&b tracks that are: fresh, electric, moody, harmonic. They'll get you excited for warm weather, and get you reflecting on life's (and the season's) changes.

The corresponding artworks are floral, blurry, whimsical, artificial, chaotic and should match the vibe of each song. I added my logo in 3D this time.

I wanted to create a splash page for the app that reflected a map, and various types of media that could be accessed. I went and created it in my notes app to show how the app would work

Choosing an app name, I really liked the name diarydrop but I felt like media drop emcompassed all the applications included in the app, and placed an equal emphasis on the creator and viewer. You could drop your own media or view media that has been dropped.

Media - "artistic expression that can amplify and integrate the four traditional art forms by incorporating the technological advances of the contemporary worlds with emerging skill sets."

Drop - slang: to debut or to become available for purchase

Drop - to let or make fall vertically

Working on the logo, I wanted something that represented a dropped pin and a play button
