🐦‍⬛ Bran is hard to understand. You don't even really understand what he's thinking, because he always has a blank face. He just makes it hard for you to know what he wants.

🐦‍⬛ Bran has never been good with his words or actions, so to try and make him happy is a mission on its own. He likes you, sure, but he doesn't know how to tell you. It doesn't help that he's not always him.

🐦‍⬛ He has people watch and follow you and keep tabs on you. He constantly knows where you are and what you are doing. You can't get anything by him, whether you want to or not.

🐦‍⬛ After catching the Queen having an affair with her own brother, Bran is paranoid you will do the same, even though you are not dating or even engaged. He is the one who won't commit or confront you about marriage.

🐦‍⬛ If another person even THINKS about being with you/courting you, they are gone. He doesn't care what he has to do, but they're as good as dead.

🐦‍⬛ He slowly loses his touch with his human self, and the only thing that even keeps Bran as Bran is you. Seeing you makes the Three-eyed Raven disappear, even if only for a little bit.

🐦‍⬛ He can become jealous and spiteful. He can't stand to see you with anyone else, he doesn't care.

🐦‍⬛ You don't understand why Bran does what he does to you. You think he just wants you to be miserable. What you don't understand is that Bran doesn't want you to be miserable... He just doesn't want you to be happy with anyone else

I think we as a fandom need to discuss the ableism in both the story and in the fandom. Reducing characters like Aemond, Tyrion, and Bran to their disability and joking about it does not make you a good person. It makes you ableist point blank period.

On the other hand, character like Hodor and Helaena are infantilized and looked down upon. In the books Helaena has an active role in politics and isn’t always out of it or appearing to be in a different world like the show had her seem.

Also the only other disabled character in Hotd, Larys, is a bad guy who sexually assaults Alicent. While I’m not saying disabled people need to always be good people but they should have more options than being child-like or only being described by their disability.

Tyrion: Well, the last one was Queen Daenerys but she set the city on fire with her dragon. Nobody liked that and she got killed.

Daemon *perks up*: Dragon? Was she hot? Who killed her?

Bran: My cousin Jon. He got exiled to the Wall for it. He also has Targaryen blood from his father Prince Rhaegar.

Daemon *leers*: Is he hot?

Tyrion: What the fuck? (There was nothing about that in his histories.)

Bran: He is conventionally good looking I would say. Also technically as the three-eyed raven I'm posessed by one of your great-grand sons, but ...

Daemon *backs away slowly*: Your king is posessed by one of my great-grand children?

Tyrion: ...

Daemon: Now that's not creepy at all.

Tyrion: ...

Daemon: Are you also related to me somehow?

Tyrion: No.

Bran: Well, actually there were some rumors ...

Tyrion: SHUT UP!

I think just think the fandom gets quite unimaginative when it comes to Bran, like there's a literal apocalypse coming with creatures that westeros thinks are long gone and Bran will play a vital role to stop it and also on top of it is a magical boy, is it that unreasonable for him for westerosi smallfolk and nobles alike to see him as someone who rebuild the realm.

Right. Plus Westeros is quite nearly a failed state. It’s on the brink of collapse, not to mention the upcoming doom brought by the Others. Is it too far fetched to expect that the political structure shifts to a point that allows for Bran’s ascension?

Bran is so central to the resolution of ASOIAF. It’s often ignored that he is right there with Jon at the front lines of the upcoming conflict. He’s where he is, beyond the wall and facing a northern threat, for a reason. GRRM also identifies him as the most magic-heavy character. It certainly seems that we as a fandom get so caught up on AA/tptwp, that we forget Bran is a walking, talking, glaring Last Hero allegory. And yes, he’s a greenseer and a magic boy. But he’s also heir to the largest kingdom in Westeros. Somehow people forget that…

And the strangest thing is, people often acknowledged that he would be the last POV character since he was the first. It makes sense for the story to start and end with Bran, but that was often the extent of his importance in the story.

Bran staying in that cave was the dominant endgame theory for him for many, many years. But I do think a part of it was people thinking that a disabled kid couldn’t become plot relevant; he can’t move so he might as well remain stagnant where he is. It’s how a lot of the complaints re not being able to have kids start. Sure, it is a problem but like…Rickon exists? His plot relevance so far has literally just been him occupying that position once Bran became Robb’s heir. Imo the point of Rickon is to be Bran’s successor and the one who carries the Stark line forward (and GRRM has been adamant that he’ll play a big part in upcoming books). If GRRM wants to make Bran king, I don’t see how it can’t be resolved satisfactorily. But Bran is a character who doesn’t have a large fandom and one whose importance is always written out that people twist themselves into knots denying that.

winterfell is one of my favorite of the castles bc its warm. both in a metaphorical and literal meaning. its built on natural hot springs and has hot water streaming through out the entire castle, protecting its residents both from the cold and people alike. its so warm inside that catelyn can open her windows in the middle of the night and still stay comfortable. even the glass gardens are warm enough for flowers to bloom and crops to grow in the long winters, feeding the keep. the people are warm too; everyone from the servants to the lord himself. Ned cared for his people and they loved him for that and took care of the Starklings in turn, risked their lives to save Bran and Rickon from the ironborn. Theon knows that if Bran and Rickon were to get away from Winterfell, the commoners themselves would protect the princes, hide and lie for them. and when Sansa builds Winterfell from snow and rocks and sticks in the Eyrie, it doesn't feel right bc despite the snow which covered it from winter to summer, Winterfell itself never was cold

just thinking about cripples, bastards, and broken things. these kids that, by all rights and logic, should've died long ago. bran crawling to his destiny with the weight of House Stark on his shoulders. dany dragging herself through the red waste, holding doreah and loving her til she's gone, and carrying a dynasty with her. jon climbing the wall and climbing his way up the ranks of the nights watch, climbing his way into friendships and family and not letting himself look back at the ones he left behind until he has to because it's arya.

bran looking back because looking forward is terrifying, so he looks for his family in anyway he can (through trees and dreams and wolves). he cries out for them, others answer. bran moving forward by any means necessary, 'our road is north,' because what else is there to do as a prince without a kingdom, a boy without a home. dany, 'if I look back I am lost', looking back at the trail of cripples, bastards, and broken things that have left everything they know to follow her, looking back at herself and hating what she sees, looking back and seeing herself in rhaegar's armor. dany looking forward and seeing chains and collars and saying 'I can do something about this, I will do something about this.'

jon 'kill the boy, let the man be born,' he kills the boy and is killed at 16. and dany never getting to be a girl, never had a choice between girlhood and whatever was needed/desired by others. she is sold at 13, mother at 14, widowed at 14, the last the last of her house at 14, conquerer at 15. bran falls, breaks, and flies at 7.
