I'm not that anon but I think the other anon is referring to the myth where Achilles kills Troilus inside the temple of Apollon. As attacking someone inside a temple was disrespectful to the temple's deity this is a reason that some versions of the myth give for Apollon killing Achilles. Similar to how Ajax was punished by Athena for assaulting Kassandra inside her temple. Some interpret that Pyrrhus' death being related to a temple was a consequence of him killing Priam inside Zeus' temple as well

Hey anon! I've sat on this ask for a while ngl; you raise a few different points and I didn’t really know where to start. I personally feel like the idea of "warrior kills god's favoured in a temple -> god punishes warrior" is valid, but a little oversimplified. I believe that Apollo's reasons for "killing" Achilles are multi-faceted, both literal and symbolic. Like first of all, Achilles is the strongest warrior of the Achaeans and he's attacking Apollo's beloved city. Even without him killing Troilus, Apollo has enough beef against him. There are also some interpretations of Apollo's enmity towards Achilles based on the fact that they're both so similar, beautiful and radiant and gifted in the arts of healing and music, so perhaps Apollo was jealous of him and found his mere existence an affront. We should also take into consideration the intrigue and conflicts between the gods themselves, so Apollo attacking Athena's and Hera's favourite hero would be like attacking the godesses themselves. There are simply too many factors that cannot be dismissed when we talk about Apollo's choice to aid in the death of Achilles.

What I find interesting in the Achilles and Troilus myth is that Troilus was the symbol of eternal boyish beauty and of the young man mourned by his parents, something that is also true of Achilles. So there are interesting connections and similarities between Apollo, Achilles and Troilus that I don't think are random.

Personally I love that myth because it shows us a facet of Achilles that we don't really get to see very often. Troilus' death is referenced in the Iliad, and it is implied that Achilles perhaps killed him (though it isn’t 100% certain), so there are reasons to believe that this is a myth that predates the Iliad. This is important because it means that it had already been part of Achilles' extended myth and plays a role in his characterisation in the Iliad. As I've said before in other asks, Achilles is generally presented as honourable and charitable in the Iliad, disliking needless slaughter and allowing his defeated enemies their dignity whenever he can (or feels like it). So this situation where he kills a young boy with little to no provocation, in a temple no less, is fascinating to me. Now, we don't really know if this is the version of the myth referenced in the Iliad or if Achilles simply killed Troilus in the field of battle, but I find it interesting nonetheless. As much as Achilles generally holds back from mindless slaughter, and only indulges in it after Patroclus is killed, perhaps the part of him that shows no mercy and kills young defenseless boys with no scruples has always been there in a way, and comes out in full force when Patroclus is dead. I don’t generally subscribe to the idea of Patroclus' being Achilles' conscience (he has plenty of his own already) but this myth just gives me lots of thinky thoughts 🤔

just watched 21 jump street and looked up the cast bc thats what i do when i watch movies and found out that there was a tv show also named 21 jump street that the movie was a kinda sorta but not really sequel to the show and that the random cameo with johnny depp at the end was in fact not a random famous comedic actor cameo at all bc he was like the main character in the original tv show and that led me down a weird rabbit hole (incoming pun not intended) and learned about the other cops in that show one of them being Judy Hoffs which if youre like me ur former disney brain immediately connected that to Judy Hopps from zootopia and looked it up to see if it was intentional and apparently the name (and job) similarities were not supposed to be a reference on the zootopia team's part and its "just a play on how rabbits jump" and they were "unaware of the 21 jump street character when naming judy" which i think is some pretty big bullshit because theres no way a character who's first name is Judy and last name is hopps (spelled with two P's the way hoFFs is spelled) and just so happens to also be a young and brand new cop is just a crazy random coincidence

1) im actually probably way too into the hunger games to be having this discussion lmfaoooo. im too into it, it’s too perfect, i love it too much. it is basically the pinnacle of all YA and i will fight literally everyone on that.

2) so with the first point in consideration, are we talking like a strict 1:1 AU? Setting it in New America/Panem? Districts with distinct specialities? Commentary about reality TV and modern entertainment entwined with like, the trauma that comes with war and trying to break free of generational curses and etc etc etc? RE: reality TV, I do think we could probably modernise that just a teeny weeny little, to include like, idk, some bullshit about how we’re always under constant surveillance and how we no longer have the time/option to be unavailable (because we’re so connected!). and since we’re like, apart of an actual fandom, maybe we could throw in some stuff about how our more privileged/sheltered audience members would engage in like, stan culture about all these dying kids, LOL. Shipping wars that ends bitterly because one half of the pairing like, idk, clubs the other to death LMAO. 3) i recently rewatched Battle Royale (a “random” class entered wins a yearly lottery then dumped on a remote island where they have three days to murder each other—all in the name of keep the status-quo, etc etc, also this is somehow a solution to sky-high unemployment rates etc etc etc.). if we kept the Quirks then like, you could spin it as a dystopian AU where people are fearful of quirks being too powerful, so then ya death-match children are pulled from hero classes and we make Reader end up in there accidentally or something, and oh no! they’re also quirkless (and defenceless hehe).

4) idk. i know i was like hehe i like war! but like, i don’t know how to emphasise how much i love the hunger games LMAO. and how that love sort of translates into the same fierceness i feel about BNHA, when it comes to fanfic—that the canon characters have certain inevitabilities you have to honour. just like no matter the universe, we are always going to need a Bakugou who’s centered around his friends (Deku, always, in any capacity. Kirishima, the first equal he had. Shouto, his frustrating Bestie <3), to me the hunger games works as well as it does because it’s war through the lens of relationships. Gale as the danger of unhealed anger, Peeta as choosing peace—like… that’s the magic of THG to me, and i just…… like…��� what are we gonna do with the relationships, with a BNHA cast? 🥺 What would Bakugou be? Do we start with a Bakugou who’s still in Bastard Mode? Has he gone through his canon growth by the time he and Reader meet? If he has, then how was that facilitated in our new world? Did he and Deku end up in the same game? Survive together somehow? How many of their peers and friends do they lose, or does that come later on? How do we fit Reader into that dynamic naturally? the romance in THG happens through like, a need to play the game, play it up for the cameras, but it’s born out of Peeta’s very real feelings for Katniss, that started when they’re kids, and I’m not a childhood friends-to-lovers person (writing wise). The “romance” (if u can call it that) in Battle Royale is probably more culpable to what i do (vague awareness of each other/one-sided crush, grows as they prop each other up) but… idk!!! idk!!!! we could just write up Bakugou and Reader sharing a cave and making out over a festering wound but like…. idk!!! i believe in earning our kisses. 😌 show me the build up in the war-torn society first, and then maybe we can have a kiss later on, lmfaoooo.
