Trivia:

○ Many of the actors featured in this video had appeared in earlier PattyCake projects.

Hannah had provided many vocals for the "Unexpected Musicals" series, and portrayed Charlotte La Bouff on screen in the Princess Academy holiday special episode.

Mike played the animator in the "Disney Girls Like You" video the previous spring.

Robby, Michael, Navid, Russell, and Chris are all reprising their respective roles from The Villains Lair.

John had embodied Thor for "Avengers: Thunder" a year and a half earlier. He'd also had a supporting role in the PattyCake-produced music video "Dad Bod" from his wife's semi-fictional girl group 4Eva29.

Chaz first appeared as Kronk in the "Teamwork Makes the Scheme Work" episode of The Villiains Lair.

○ Ever After Character Events, who got a shoutout in the end screen, provide costumed performers for parties and other events in the Orlando area. Unsurprisingly, many of their services are for Disney princesses, but several of these cast members had also worked with them as princes, superheroes, and pirates.

○ There's a slight production error with the time the video takes place. The analog clock on the wall sits at 6 o'clock, but the phone's lock screen shows 12:00.

○ The rubber Hei-Hei later appeared in VoicePlay's music video for "Friends on the Other Side", filmed on PattyCake's stage procenium set with J.None wearing their Dr. Facilier costume.

“What If...?” Captain Carter.

You would probably think that as someone who owns the Agent Carter makeup (from Besamé, Latina-owned business, check it out) and who posts about Peggy and Sharon all the time, that I would’ve been a lot more excited for this episode.

Instead, I was looking at it as something to get through before next week’s sob fest that will be Chadwick Boseman’s big final episode. (ETA: he appears in four but the others are smaller roles done over Zoom and the main episode was done in studio.)

I have been thinking about it this morning. Like when I was watching, I was nitpicking continuity (“oh the Nexus event is her deciding to stay and not Hydra blowing up Steve instead of just shooting Erskine? Weird.”)

Why couldn’t I get into it?

So here are some reasons I think the bloom is off the rose:

1. Recent controversy over Captain America twitter account. They still haven’t fixed it. Yet when comic book nerds were grumpy that Peggy might be Captain Britain they issued statements that she was “Captain Carter.” Can someone come out and say, “she’s not Captain America, Sam is” pretty please? It’s not that hard.

2. Per the Legends episode on Peggy, the TV series Agent Carter is not part of continuity anymore. I guess that makes sense because Steve showed up in “Endgame.” But the first season of that was actually my fave Peggy stuff, not “First Avenger.” I’m kind of bitter about that. And yes, technically I should blame “Endgame” for that and not What If...? but I was holding out hope and they crushed it.

3. Sharon. Sharon was the last bit of Peggy’s legacy in the MCU. She was a bright and determined young agent, inspired by her aunt. Now she’s a super villain, I guess? Her other legacy was SHIELD which turned out to be filled with Nazis and I didn’t blame Peggy for that, even though if she was such a super agent why didn’t she know (I have also forgiven Nick Fury for this) but if both SHIELD and Sharon were secretly evil then I am starting to think Peggy just wasn’t as great as we thought. (Also the other female SHIELD agents like Gemma Simmons were also once part of her legacy but they have likewise been erased from continuity so now ALL YOU GET is Sharon.)

I don’t know. Not as excited about Peggy as I once was.

Also? No Col. Chester Philips, my beloved. I realize Tommy Lee Jones probably wouldn’t voice a cartoon but (praise to Stanely Tucci for doing it!) I miss him. The Colonel is a underrated part of “First Avenger”. Part of what makes that movie work is that he’s loveable even though he is skeptical of Steve. This felt like a pale imitation.

The writer and producer were saying Hayley Atwell had one of the best voice performances. She was fine but I thought Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark stole the show. I want gifs of all his scenes. I love him.

Those are my initial thoughts. I hope Jeffrey Wright gets to do more as the episodes go on. He’s a great actor and I want to see him get to do stuff.

Didn’t hate it. Will definitely watch episode two. But kind of meh on this one. I liked seeing Howard and Dum Dum again. Wish some of the other Howlers were in it. But, yeah, fine.

Just watched What If ....? Episode 1

So I havent been keeping upwith the MCU since Spiderman Far From Home,so this is the first Marvel thing I have watched since then

The premise of this episode is what if Peggy became the super soldier instead of Steve ,and I honestly think its cool .I adore PEggy so seeing her get the spotlight is great , Steve in a mech suit is awesome ,and Red Skull summoning a big monster feels right out of an old marvel comic

Tis episode got a majority of the cast from the first Captain America,and it's honestly weirdly awesome that Stanley Tucci and Toby Jones came in for like two lines each

There are three exceptions,voice actor Josh Keaton does an admirable job replacing Chris Evans ,Instead of Hufo Weaving we have Ross Marquand who plays Red Skull in Infinity War and Endgame reprises his role here and he is honestly so good ,I want more excuses for him to play Red Skull . No more Colonel Phillips,presumbly because Tommy Lee Jones is expensive,so instead we have another Colonel played by Bradley Whitford .I like Whitford,and it makes sense to have a diffrent colonel who would be at odds with Carter , but disappointed with no Jones

Of the returning actors Haylee Atwell gives the strongest performance ,with the weakest sadly being Sebastian Stan (Love the actor,he's just not a voice actor ) .BEST performance is Dominic Cooper who was told this was a cartoon thus says everything in the most cartoony way possible,I love it

Likenesses are on point for the most part,though animated Toby Jones looks weird . Also made Dum Dum Dugan look more like his comic counterpart and Red Skulls human form looks NOTHING like Hugo Weaving ,probably due to rights issues .Animation was really good in general,though I might have to get used to the art style

Finally Jeffrey Wright was just a perfect choice for the Watcher

Overall ,really enjoyed this first episode
