I see ur kind of back in the eene fandom. Favorite and least favorite headcanons about the Ed's if your feeling up to it?
Lol hi. And yeah I'm here. Arcane has had such a relentless chokehold on my brain for the past year and a half and it's finally loosening it's grip (inb4 inevitable Season 2 promo shit lmao).
HCs for the Eds? Let's goooo-
HCs I like:
Ed
-I like the HC he has ADHD. It fits him well and has direct canon evidence. As an ADHDer, he fits a lot of the basic stereotypes.
-The kinda popular fandom idea that he will be involved in the filming or general crew of B-tier horror movies when he's an adult. Career path is honestly among the most likely. Can also dig him being an Art Bell-esque radio or podcast host of weird conspiracy stuff.
-Love when he's paired with May. I feel that they'd be the only Ed/Kanker combo that'd work imho.
-Even though he's a fun loving character at heart, I like the idea that we see more of that serious and angry side he showed in Little Ed Blue and BPS. Like as he gets older and more seasoned he learns to stand up for himself more. Not his default at all, but learns to put up with less shit.
-I don't see him caring much about gender or sexuality. I don't ever see him labeling himself or thinking much about it, but I also don't see him as fully straight or cis.
-Can see him really being into Astrology and star charts. He probably has an Ancient Aliens phase 😆
Edd
-Like to think he starts taking college classes in his Junior or Senior year of high-school. Probably gets offers from Ivy-League schools, picking not the one he wants to go to the most, but the one that leaves him closest to home.
-I think it was @eddbedandeddy that came up with the idea that he has trichotillomania, where one pulls out clumps of hair as a very maladaptive nervous habit. Love this and I fully support the HC that it's why he wears his hat.
-Dig the idea he goes on to become a doctor of some sort.
-Is a really bad cook. Underseasons and overcooks a LOT. Usually keeps it to cup noodles, sandwiches, or takeout if the responsibility falls on him.
-Definitely has big bi or pan energy.
-Though he can't cook, Edd is very good with gardening and plants in general. Super good at keeping them healthy and cultivating them.
-Mellows out a bit when he gets older. Still a tad neurotic but not a full blown nervous wreck.
Eddy
(So warning: Eddy is my favoritest, most special little guy(TM) so there is a little bias for how many HCs I have for him compared to the others. Sorry lol.)
-It's funny when you think about it, because in terms of Eddy's personality after BPS it's actually pretty nebulous to nail down. Despite being one of the brashest, most outspoken characters he's actually the most mysterious when it comes down to who he truly is. He hid behind a facade for the majority of the show's runtime, after all, so what he truly is like underneath that leaves a lot up to the imagination.
-HOWEVER, I HC Eddy returning to his Season 1 and early Season 2 personality after BPS, with a decent amount of self reflection and maturity tacked on. I think how he acted in Season 1 is the closest to who he really is at the core. A good example of how I see Eddy (as a teenager, at least), is that he would share a lot of traits with Amethyst from Steven Universe, I guess? Closest example I can think of, tbh.
-He's closeted gay kid. Home of sexual. 👬🏳️🌈🌈 I used to see him as a bi, but rewatches changed my mind a lot. (Part of it is that he's always been my favorite and I was projecting tbh.) It takes him till his mid-to-late teens to start to accept it.
-Excellent cook. His mom's side is 100% Italian in my personal HC and she and her side bestowed a ton of culinary knowledge on him from old family recipes etc.
-Piggybacking off this, I see Eddy being a line cook for quite a while if not as his staple career. I can also see him doing car sales and bartending and even working at a deli. Bounces around jobs a lot, but always is employed in some way or the other.
-He loves baking and is very good at it. Don't give him shit about it or he will cry in private.
-Eddy is ADHD like Ed, but on the more impulsive and moody side of the large spectrum ADHD consists of. He also is bipolar af.
-Is heavily into music in general, especially as he gets older. He also has a penchant for musicals and Broadway, but he WILL get defensive if you tease him for it. But yeah, music is his biggest hobby and interest by far.
HCs I don't like:
Ed
-That he's too stupid to live. Leave him alone, he's dim but functional.
-The idea he can't function independently from Edd and Eddy. He absolutely can and is his own person!
-When fanfics or works in general make Eddy and Edd act like parents to him. He's their equal 👏
-Anytime he's explicitly third-wheeled when Edd and Eddy are paired. You absolutely can write the former two paired up without excluding him.
Edd
-When the fandom makes him an uwu softboy. Stfu. He's a little asshole with a smart mouth and a truckload of sass. Erasing that makes him so BORING 😴
-The HC that he will 'outgrow' Eddy and Ed and move on from them. He's right where he belongs and they complete each other. Stop.
Eddy
-Where do I begin? Firstly, him acting the same exact way as he does in the show after what happened in BPS. The entire movie was explicitly about Eddy becoming a better person and learning his lesson. At least show some growth.
-Him becoming an even more ruthless and corrupt scammer as an adult. Paired with the above point, but still.
-Any HCs that he's heterosexual 🤢
-MAKING HIM TALL.
-Fanart that makes him skinny.
I could go on but those are the main ones. Ty anon!

There are very few movies that I feel like have changed my outlook on the world, Deepwater Horizon (2016) is one of them.
It’s a film I believe every person should watch. It’s a biographical movie about the tragedy of 2010 in which drilling rig Deepwater Horizon experienced several massive and catastrophic safety failures, leading to 11 crewmen being killed and creating the largest marine oil spill in history.
Mark Wahlburg's character of Mike Williams serves as our emotional guide through the story, and I say that because he may be the lead, but he's not the main character. We spend a moment with every character on this rig art some point in the film. He's simply our method of going through each and every mistake and selfish decision that led to the violent deaths of 11 men.
The movie does a fantastic job of telling us exactly what and how this rig was going to blow. Right off the bat we are told outright, with the real life recording of Mike Williams, most likely in a court room following the tragedy. The recording stops before Mr. Williams can answer if he knew why the alarms did not sound before the blowout. The movie also goes a fantastic job and letting us know exactly how the rig was going to blow and why it would be so bad, seen through Mike's daughter's show-and-tell presentation that explains in easy-to-understand terms how the oil rig works. it ends with the soda exploding up through the straw due to mounting pressure in the can due to the honey, representing drilling mud, causes a large explosion of gas. It ends with Mike saying "There's only so much left in the can," as the sound of the bubbling soda fades into the deep, drilling sounds from the rig. We know exactly what is going to happen.
A series of bad omens follows us for the next half an hour. Kurt Russell's Mr. Williams, the Offshore Installation Manager, comments on a BP worker's tie is magenta, and it should not be worn because on the rig, the magenta alarm is as bad as it gets. This creates a palpable sense of dread that stays with you throughout every single scene leading up to the incident.
BP's full and undoubtable guilt is what makes this film all the more infuriating. The camaraderie shown between the workers and each other, and Mike William's family make the tragedy all the more hard to bear. Everyone cast in this movie is fantastic. These feel like real people living their loves, making jokes, bickering and making social like they've known each other for years.
The movie, along with its incredible score and character acting, the film also does an amazing job at giving us a perfect visual of just how the incident went down and why what happened was such a big deal. The science isn't much lost here, despite being complicated and esoteric, we know each to know that the pressure building is going to lead to an incredibly dangerous event. The latter half of the movie is a nonstop torrent of failure resulting in the crewmen's death. the explosion finally happens after so much buildup due.
It's funny, it's witty, and it's human. We see all the types of people here, all the good and all the bad of how people react in an emergency.
Just watch the movie, it reminds you of how fragile life is and how we need to look to the future, or we're all doomed to act like hope is a tactic. We need hope and we need kindness, and resilience, and we need to work together. Watch Deepwater Horizon.
#I might be a little high but I just really really love good biographical cinema#deepwater horizon#film#history#morbid history

For the last few weeks I’ve really struggled to make any progress on the shot that represents the inside of the characters mind. I had the hands and the character sequence complete very quickly and I knew how I wanted it to come in with the burning out of the characters eyes in the shot before it, but after that I hit wall.
For the burning out of the eyes I filmed two shots of paper being burned out from the middle on my barbecue, I then put these into After Effects to begin cutting the burn out and fit them to the shot of the character. Long story short, it didn’t work. With more time I do think I could’ve made it work how I wanted but it wasn’t worth the energy at this point in the process for a minor shot. Instead I used the CC film burn in After Effects to achieve the same effect, I layered them up with one starting from the left eye first, followed by one burning from the right just after and then took the shot out with one final burn, this revealing the next shot and giving the impression that we’re being taken inside the characters head. I’ll post a few examples of my failed burning attempt later today.
Now, the shot inside the characters mind. This shot was my baby from the start, it was my first attempt at green screening with the hand sequence and the process of making the character sequence damaging prints multiple times was my first major experimentation, they went together perfectly from the moment I put them in After Effects. Once I’d done that though I hit a wall, I wanted a deep and atmospheric background to the shot but I couldn’t find a style I liked for it. Yesterday with the deadline baring down on me I had to make it work however I could so I went with something that’s worked for me before. I coated sheets of coloured card in poster paint and smudged it around, after this I tore some of them up into pieces and scanned them all in. To create the depth and atmosphere I wanted I took inspiration from my pulsing clock sequence. After damaging the scans in Photoshop I dropped them all onto separate layers in After Effects and made them pulse out of time from each other. At this point I applied different levels of lens blur to the layers as they came forward which gave me exactly what I wanted depth wise. I then copied the hand layer, coloured it a blue/ green mix and posterised it, after that I keyed out the white in the hands to leave the green outlines and shadows seen in the final sequence. I did this because I wanted the hands to stay ‘real’ but I also wanted the illusion of distorted dirty soap on then as they ‘wash’ it’s not quite the soap look but I think it works really well and helps blend the live action hands to the rest of the shot. I also wanted to take the hands backwards slightly from the front of the shot so I put some of the pulsing card without lens blur in front of them in places, this paired with the character coming out of the hands and covering the whole shot gave me one final element of depth to the shot. This is my favourite shot so far, it’s simple in so many ways but its vibrant and it’s chaotic which is exactly what I wanted it to be when I came up with it.

Buddie predictions/speculation for the remainder of 6A:
SPOILER TALK/BTS
Episode 7 (Cursed):
Eddie gets cursed by the bracelet lol (he just doesn't believe it until later).
Eddie doesn't think anything of it (because curses aren't real...right, Eddie?).
Eddie and Chris go to the beach and Buck has plans to meet them there (Evidence: Ryan and Gavin were seen filming on the beach a few weeks ago).
Buck calls Eddie while driving and says that he's almost there (Evidence: Oliver was seen filming in Buck's jeep near the beach a few weeks ago).
Buck gets another call from the sperm donation clinic that there is some kind of complication and he won't be able to donate (Evidence: Oliver mentioned in an interview that the sperm donor storyline would reappear in episode 7 and indicated that there would be complications).
Buck spirals and while he's spiraling/still driving, his jeep gets t-boned (I'm taking the car incident in episode 4 as a foreshadow. I don't think buck is out of the danger zone just yet when it comes to car accidents).
Episode 8 (911, What's Your Fantasy?)
Buck winds up in a coma/on a vent.
Eddie spirals and starts to believe in curses.
The episode title comes in to play as we see snippets of Buck and Eddie's fantasies about their futures. Perhaps Buck (while in his coma) dreams of having a family and kids. Perhaps Eddie thinks about a potential romantic future with Buck.
Regardless, we get some kind of confirmation that eddie is feeling non-platonic things for Buck. This could be as simple as an obviously romantic-coded look/shot, or it could be as big as a third party confession. But either way, we will KNOW buddie is headed in a romantic direction by the end of this episode.
Episode 9 (Red Flag):
As I mentioned in a previous post, "Red flag" is a term used in Emergency Medicine to indicate that something really serious could be happening with a patient. I think Buck's condition will worsen before he gets better (a sort of tarlos parallel). Perhaps the red flag will have something to do with Buck's heart (dropping BP, heart rate issues, etc.) so we can have the heart theme from 5B continue.
Eddie continues to spiral.
Buck finally starts getting better.
There is a cute mid season montage and in the middle of that we get a third party confession from Eddie (to probably chim) that he's in love with Buck. And that's our cliffhanger for the season.
Do I think all of this will happen? Absolutely not. Do I think some of this could happen? Absolutely! Do I believe we will know that buddie is definitively going in a romantic direction by the end of 6A? Yes 100%.
Let me know your thoughts! Feel free to add things!

Ok so quick note, thanks to @wonderofasunrise whose blog I found these prompts on and thus which proceeded to steal. this is no. 11. :)
Excuse for being lazy: also yes this is only meant to be short so like sorry for not expanding on things at all. Perhaps I shall make up for that next time ;)
This is set in s8 around wintery times.
Please enjoy :3
“I thought I would be okay with just being friends but… All I can think of when I’m around you is how badly I want to kiss you and how I can’t do that anymore.”
Kerry lay quietly, her cheek resting on Susan’s chest, her eyes shut in a warm, pensive bliss – two souls in harmony.
Their illicit affair had begun as a matter of surprise to them both; after a night of heavy drinking and deep confessions they awoke the next morning sharing a bed, and what had started as a one-night stand became a regular thing after replicating the original night twice over.
Not only had their sexual relationship grown in a way that neither could have imagined, but an understanding, a friendship had also developed which had allowed themselves to trust wholeheartedly and without the fear of judgment for the first time in a very long time.
Kerry had indeed gotten accustomed to arriving home and finding Susan outside waiting for her, she had started to prepare dinners big enough for two in anticipation of an inevitable phone call asking to spend the night. Everything was falling into place. Therefore, it could never have lasted.
“I think we should end it.”
Whatever ‘it’ was. The nebulous nature of their relationship was growing all too much for Kerry, because, to tell the truth, she had fallen.
She didn’t think that there had ever been a time when she wasn’t in love with Susan Lewis, but to have been finally exposed in full to that euphoria, to live out her long-term dream, one she’d barely registered before now, was bittersweet…when she knew that Susan would never, could never requite what she felt inside.
Susan was surprised at the statement. She had never really thought about ending it, actually ending it. To be honest, since this whole thing started, she hadn’t really thought about anything at all. She knew that they were never going to be a “they”, Kerry Weaver and Susan Lewis: ER Power Couple, but she couldn’t help feel a little, disappointed at the idea of losing her? Although, she wasn’t really going to be lost, just not there in the same way. It just seemed really random, why now? Had she been planning this for a while? It was going well, she had thought, but knowing Kerry perhaps to her this wasn’t right. Anyway, best to end things whilst they’re good right? She clung to that thought in the hope that it might fill the suspicious hole she felt deep down in her chest.
The two promised to stay friends, it’s always nice to have an ally. And Susan was just fine with that, one-hundred-percent completely fine.
“23-year-old male, multiple head lacs, altered, LOC, vitals stable, BP 120/80,” announced the new EMT Danielle as she tried to shake her overgrown fringe out of her eyes.
It was just then as Susan and Kerry approached to take the trauma that the man in question lent over and wretched blood all over Danielle’s jacket causing Kerry and Susan to jump back a little before grabbing the sides of the gurney so that she could sort herself out. The man started to lose consciousness again as they raced to get him inside.
Danielle shed her jacket leaving it on the tarmac of the ambulance bay revealing a white vest and tattoo sleeves before she continued her debrief whilst following the pair to the trauma room, “Received 50 of Lidocaine at the scene, complains of dizziness and neck pain,” she continued.
As they entered the trauma room Susan finally took a look at the woman speaking and what said woman was wearing, “Nice top,” she said her eyes lingering a little bit too long.
“Thanks,” replied Danielle looking down at herself briefly before smiling to show her gratitude.
“LIFT ON 1, 2, 3!” Kerry ordered loudly cutting their little interaction short.
And as Susan lent over to start working on the man she felt Danielle put something small into her pocket whispering, “I’ll see you later.”
She stared as the woman left the trauma room only to look back around to see Kerry watching her icily.
After the man was stabilised, Kerry and Susan left the trauma room ripping their gloves and their aprons off as they did so before tossing them into the trash.
They both started in the same direction, practically colliding, Kerry extending an arm to institute a satisfactory, colleague-appropriate space between them.
“Tough trauma.”
“Yeah, I s’pose…Hey, did I tell you that Susie went to see that film they’ve all been talking about, Shrek(?) the other day, oh my god I have not heard her be so excited about something in months, and the way she talked about the donkey in it you would think that the two were going out, but alas no. Apparently, he is indeed taken by a dragon as is so often the case with actually desirable men,” she ranted enthusiastically putting on a heightened English accent to emphasise the slander.
Kerry listened quietly as she felt Susan’s words dig into her further and further, she should be happier for her, she knew that, but everything was closing in on her and she didn’t like it.
They entered the Doctor’s Lounge and as soon as the door shut behind them and it was clear to Kerry that no one else was in there, she started, “Listen, I don’t wanna make a big deal outta it but I just wanted to let you know that it’s considered a little inappropriate to get distracted by pretty EMTs when working a trauma at least from a management perspective, now as it’s never happened before obviously it’s not a problem but just so you know for any future interactions that they should be left till after you’ve finished working on the patient.”
Susan’s smile failed immediately at the mini reprimand. “Kerry it was nothing I promise.”
“Uhuh – well even if that is the case it’s still inappropriate,” Kerry said pointing her nose in the air.
Kerry’s stiffness on the subject angered Susan who huffed before retorting, “And even if it WAS something I don’t think that’s any of your business, you know Kerry Weaver, not everything is about you I realise, ok, that you’re the only person in YOUR world but that’s not the same for the rest of us,” as she raised her voice, she stepped closer and closer to Kerry refusing to break eye contact for a second.
Kerry was frozen in place, her lip quivering slightly and her eyes conveying only a hint of pain and fear behind their broken shields.
They were practically toe-to-toe, and their proximity almost immediately caused Susan to calm down as if her body was anticipating Kerry’s touch, Kerry’s smell, Kerry’s warmth.
The electricity burning Kerry’s skin as her beloved towered over her, not knowing, never knowing, what those words meant to her. Why although dealing with hurtful comments was part of the job, was always part of the job, they felt different coming from her.
But as cupid’s taunting strings gradually lured them together, the door burst open loudly causing the women to practically jump out of their skin in order to create distance between them.
It was Chuny; “Doctor Weaver there’s a guy wandering around the admit desk I think he’s your patient, Mr. Reid?”
“Yeah, I’ll be there in a minute Chuny,” Kerry replied a little too shrilly, her eyes still fixed on Susan. She stayed there for a few more seconds before finally awakening in herself the willpower to sort out the wanderer.
As the last sounds of her crutch hitting the floor faded away into the dissonant noise of the ER Chuny joked, “Did you just have it from Weaver, I bet you didn’t miss those in Phoenix!” before closing the door and leaving.
But ‘missing Weaver’ was really the only thing Susan was able to do at that moment, she turned towards the window to wipe away a tear. Then, she shook herself from head to toe, set her face back to neutrality and spun around so she could go back to work.
Kerry stood alone, her arms restless as if they were missing something, or someone, her kitchen echoing with emptiness. As she stared half-heartedly at the risotto she was making she heard a buzz followed by three rapid knocks. Kerry pulled herself out of her reverie, grabbed her crutch and headed over to the front door.
Upon opening, she saw Susan shivering in a short tan trench coat, her arms wrapped around herself, her right foot tapping the ground beneath her. When she heard the click of the latch she lifted her head and the expression Kerry saw sent a shiver through her, Susan’s eyes were wide and deep inside them there seemed to be some sort of lingering discomfort.
“Hey,” she said shyly before pulling the door to and stepping out into the cold winter’s night also, “What are you doing here?”
“Um…I’m not sure to be honest,” was the esteemed reply.
“Aren’t you cold? Do you want t-”
“Kerry there’s something I have to say and if I don’t say it now, I don’t think I ever will so.”
“Uh…ok, um, go right ahead.”
“I’m so tired, of all this of going to back to the old normal, whatever the hell that was, you know I-” she broke off, her voice cracking slightly as her emotions started to get the better of her, “I thought I would be okay with just being friends but…All I can think of when I’m around you is how badly I want to kiss you and how I can’t do that anymore. And even when you’re mad and being a bitch, I just want to hold you because then I know everything’ll be all right.” And on those final words she broke down, it could have been the cold, it could have been the pressures of moving back to a town where no one really remembered her, but in that moment, it didn’t matter what the exact cause was because her Susan was upset and it yanked at her heartstrings.
The women stood there silently, Susan looking at the floor and Kerry looking at Susan, frozen in light of the revelation, trying to calculate what best to do. When Kerry still didn’t say anything, Susan raised her head once more to look at her and being met only with an unreadable, blank expression, she felt she could take a hint.
Not wanting to stand in the scene of her rejection any longer Susan said, “Goodnight,” in a dejected, barely audible voice before turning around and heading down the steps leading up to the house. And it was this that triggered Kerry’s ability to move once more.
“Wait!” she called out, as she reached her hand out for the banister and tried to rush down the stairs, but her hurriedness and the light frost worked against her and as Susan turned around Kerry practically tumbled into her arms.
And at this intimacy, there was only one thing left for them really, because love doesn’t require logical thinking, sometimes all it needs is an impulse.
Kerry pulled herself up muttering a word of thanks before running her hand through Susan’s hair and slowly, softly bringing her down for a kiss.
And as a thousand fireworks went off in their minds, they simultaneously knew that “they” would last forever.

To arrive at the market size, the report considers average price of UV tapes per square meter across geographies. The forecast presented here assesses the total revenue of UV tapes. When developing the forecast of the market, the starting point is sizing the current market, which forms the basis for the forecast of how the market is anticipated to take shape in the near future. Given the characteristics of market, we triangulated the outcome based on different analysis based on supply side, demand side and dynamics of PSA tapes (parent) market. However, quantifying the market across aforementioned segments and regions is more a matter of quantifying expectations and identifying opportunities rather than rationalizing them after the forecast has been completed.

MCU Final Battles from Worst to Best, Part Two
I hear there’s a movie coming out tomorrow that people are looking forward to. Infinity War promises to be the biggest fight in the MCU to date, but what about the other ones? Here’s part two of my list ranking every final battle in the MCU to date. The link to Part One is below.
Part One: http://ryanmeft.tumblr.com/post/173198399342/mcu-final-battles-from-worst-to-best-part-one
WARNING: THIS LIST THOROUGHLY SPOILS THE END OF EVERY MCU MOVIE. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK.
10. Spider-Man: Homecoming
What Happens
Spidey and Vulture battle in the skies and on a beach over a stolen crate of Stark weaponry.
Why it’s not half bad
The battle itself is nothing special, and forgoes some opportunities to take greater advantage of Spider-Man’s powers and Vulture’s flight. The best parts involve the interactions between the two, stemming from the fact that, whereas usually the hero doesn’t want to hurt the villain, this time the villain doesn’t really want to hurt the hero, either. The big finish, with Spidey dragging Vulture from the mess he himself caused, is golden, but overall it felt like the battle itself could have been more.
9. Ant-Man
What Happens
Ant-Man and Yellowjacket battle mostly at microscopic size in AM’s daughter’s playroom, using her toys as weapons.
Why It’s Not Half Bad
The creative use of toys like Cassie’s train set pushes this one up on the list. It’s genuinely funny and creative to see the way a child’s toy world is transformed into a battleground, and highlights the fact that the movie’s greatest strength was the interplay of bite-sized powers with the real world. The stakes are lighter than in any other MCU movie, which takes some of the urgency out of it, but this is wisely made up for by the use of humor in a way that recalls older, more physical silent films.
8. Black Panther
What Happens
Amid a wider battle for Wakanda, T’Challa and Killmonger both don identical Black Panther suits and face off with each other, and a train.
Why It’s Not Half Bad
Because the big battle between competing Wakandan factions is really, really cool, to the point where even a few ridiculous rhinos can’t dampen it. You can really feel the stakes in this one, since it amount to BP’s own little civil war. Sure, it was a little bizarre that they tried to make big drama out of Killmonger offing a random, nameless extra, but whatevs.
Sadly, in a movie so full of neat new ideas, the writers fall back on the most tired trope in superhero movies: two similarly-equipped combatants in a mirror match while the environment occasionally gets in the way. They already did this in Iron Man, Captain America, Ant-Man, and The Incredible Hulk, and several other non-MCU films have used the concept, so it feels like something that was pulled out of Script 101 and stuck in the middle of a better fight. Killmonger’s emotional death, however, adds enough feels to boost it.
7. Thor
What Happens
Loki tries to destroy Ice Person Land to prove he’s a better son, and Thor, who has learned compassion in, like, three days because of a pretty woman, goes a few rounds with him over this.
Why it’s Not Half Bad
The internal logic of this one is really spotty---why does Loki think destroying the world Odin stopped Thor from destroying will make him daddy’s favorite? All we care about is the actual fight, though, and it has a lot of cool touches. Thor’s brute force is pitted nicely against Loki’s cunning and bag of tricks, and Thor ends their one-on-one duel by taking a page from Loki’s book and using a trick instead of a punch; the hammer-on-the-chest thing was clever. While the “consequences” of Thor destroying the Rainbow Bridge to stop Loki’s plan were wiped away with a couple lines of dialogue in subsequent films, that’s irrelevant on this list, and in the moment, it was a surprisingly ballsy move.
6. Iron Man 3
What Happens
Iron Man uses all his resources, including multiple Iron Man armors, to to combat a baddie against which no one suit would have been enough. Then Super Gwyneth Paltrow almost ruins it.
Why it’s Not Half Bad
Yes, Super Gwyneth Paltrow was bad. Real bad. There was no reason to drag out the final battle to get that in there, especially since Tony’s initial solution of wrapping Guy Pearce in armor and making the armor go boom was basically his Mortal Kombat fatality, and it was AWESOME. But the rest of the battle still has that creative thrill that the other Iron Man finales, and most superhero flicks, are missing. Tony running between platforms and jumping between armors runs the danger of making things seem too much like a video game, but the movie pulls it off and gives us a great note to go out on for what is likely the last Iron Man finale we’ll see (at least until the 2030 reboot of the universe).
5. Thor: Ragnarok
What Happens
Thor, Loki, Valkyrie, Hulk and Karl Urban throw themselves against the forces of Hela, before ultimately deciding they must unleash a demon and destroy Asgard to defeat her.
Why It’s Awesome
The stakes for this one are higher than almost any other Marvel movie, and while some viewers might have been disappointed by the highly humorous tone of the film, the final fight is all business. The ultimate result---Thor and Loki have to destroy their entire world to prevent Hela gaining control over all the universe---is easily the biggest sacrifice a Marvel hero has made, and the battle has the secondary effect of justifying why Thor keeps Loki around. The battle itself is a little less impressive than the big finale. Basically, it’s another instance of the heroes throwing themselves at a clone army led by a nigh-invincible super baddie. Hulk vs. Fenris was cool, though.
4. Marvel’s The Avengers
What Happens
Loki opens a portal to the far reaches of space, allowing an alien army through to attack New York, and the newly formed Avengers, ahem, assemble to stop him and them.
Why It’s Awesome
For better or worse, this one set the tone for most of the non-solo MCU films that followed. It became predictable and, as a result, boring after a few years, but it still felt relatively fresh here. Everything about it, from the banter between the team members to the endless wealth of creative moves pulled---Hawkeye’s exploding arrow was a particular highlight---worked nearly effortlessly. And, of course, there was arguably the greatest single moment in any MCU fight to date. There’ve been few wonderfully hilarious surprises as great as “Puny God” in any superhero film, period. Like all such big fights (see the Lord of the Rings trilogy for more examples) it doesn’t quite have the same impact when you’ve seen it a few times, but it holds up better than a lot of others on repeat viewings.
3. Guardians of the Galaxy
What Happens
A gigantic fleet mostly fails to stop Monotone Space General from using an Infinity Stone to wipe out his race’s rival planet, so the Guardians land and stop him using the power of friendship and sick 80’s dance moves.
Why It’s Awesome
You might be asking why this one is so high on the list. The space battle is effective but not revolutionary, and for a moment it looks like we’ll get a typical Marvel ending to a fairly atypical Marvel movie. Then it busts out what I’m fairly sure has never happened in another movie: an intergalactic, genocidal warlord gets defeated by the power of friendship and a dance-off. That a cosmic baddie who is supposed to be nigh-unstoppable gets taken down by the song “O-o-h Child” is not only a riotously funny surprise, but for a movie that doesn’t take itself too seriously, the remaining Guardians joining together to use the power of the, well, Power Stone is shockingly effective. In terms of group-of-heroes vs. army-of-bad-guys style showdowns, this one is hard to top.
2. Doctor Strange
What Happens
Doctor Strange and company battle Kaecelius’s zealots, before Strange ends Dormammu’s threat to earth by trapping him in a time loop.
Why It’s Awesome
Because it’s not only clever and unexpected, but it fully utilizes the trippy, LSD-ish visual style and insane plotting that typified Steve Ditko’s famous 60’s original run. Even if you don’t care about that, though, there’s little question that trapping Dormammu in a time loop that Strange will only break if he leaves is not your typical showdown. Strange dying over and over again, having volunteered himself to suffer forever in order to protect humanity, has the air of ancient mythology about it, and is just damn effective, to boot. The movie itself had a mixed reception from fans, and you don’t hear much talk about it now, but it had a lot of interesting plot beats, and this was the best.
1. Captain America: Civil War
What Happens
Zemo leads the heroes to believe he’s going to unleash an army of Winter Soldiers on the world, but when they go to stop him, they find his plan is actually to turn them against themselves.
Why It’s The Best
This one has it all. First, since this basically an Avengers film in many ways, we’re led to expect the typical Avengers ending, with the heroes squaring off against an army of personality-free super-baddies. I actually audibly groaned when the plot revealed the existence of a Winter Soldier program. “Here we go again”, I thought. I can’t overstate my satisfaction when it turned out to be deliberate feint on both the part of the filmmakers and the bad guy.
Of course, a final showdown was necessary---this is still a popcorn movie, even if it is one of the best. More than any other MCU film, though, this one needed to feel personal, and boy did it ever. On every level, from direction to writing to acting, Iron Man squaring off with Captain America one-on-one for the right to kill Cap’s best friend for assassinating Tony’s parents was perfectly executed. All the little details, from Downey’s face when the truth is revealed to the undramatic way Cap drops his shield and Stark’s despair over the whole thing, are as pitch perfect as movies like this get. This was the last movie with most of the traditional team before Infinity War promises to shuffle the deck, and if its the de facto end of an era, it could hardly have ended on a more gripping note. These movies may not be Citizen Kane, but this came as close to greatness as they get.

Finally watched Infinity War today (I didn’t want to see it in a full house and I wanted to see it in a genuine IMAX theater because it was filmed entirely in IMAX so I had to wait). Spoilers ahead so if you don’t want to see them, scroll past this post!
SCROLL PAST.
RIGHT NOW.
NOW.
So, I thought IW was really underwhelming and predictable. I assumed it would be generic and bloated based on the trailers so I was unexcited, but with the way people were so psyched by it, my expectations went up. I walked in, afraid of what would happen....and spent 99% of the time not feeling like I was on the edge of my seat at all. I predicted everything that was going to happen, which was severely disappointing. I can count maybe one or two things that I didn’t expect. And because of that and because the plot was so insubstantial (funnily enough, I thought its issue would be that it would be too unwieldy and bloated, not that it would be superficial and would feel as though it skimmed over everything), IW barely had any emotional impact on me, and at the very least, if that’s going to be the case, then at least have some juicy plot that I can sink my teeth into, you know? I know part of the reason why I’m so uninvested in most of these deaths is because this is a two-parter, but the other part is because the way the movie was set up meant that I could barely connect with most of the characters on a deep level especially when each of them were given like...two lines lol.
Anyway, I’m tired of writing normally so here’s Part 1 (sorry, you know I talk at length about these things) featuring overall movie stuff, which basically consists of general criticism lol, with Part 2 about characters (not entirely critical):
Violence - I thought Loki’s grim death set the tone for the movie, but the violence was so subpar in this. I don’t want gratuitous violence, but this is THANOS. Where’s the bloodshed? Nothing felt visceral enough. Even his stupid tricks with the Reality Stone weren’t gruesome. Soap bubbles? Really? Even what happened to Mantis and Drax looked so dumb. This is the Mad Titan. COME ONNNN.
Dumb plot holes(?) - Okay, there were big questions that undermined the movie like.....if Thanos and the Black Order can locate the Stones, what kept them from going after the Stones earlier? How do they know the exact location of the Stones and how to track their movements?
Location captions - I still hate them. STOP WITH THESE OMFG. It’s so distracting, and we don’t need it if you’re good with dialogue and exposition.
Relationships - Too many undercooked relationships that were important (and too many that went to 100 realllll fast and in terms of romantic ones, it felt kind of dumb to show three pairings going “ILU” and kissing in a row lol), especially Gamora and Nebula’s with Thanos. I don’t blame the Russos and M&M for this though because it’s not like they could’ve spent 3/4 of the movie building their relationship up, and this REALLY should have been a thing that was explored in GotG1. I’ve been saying since that movie came out that it should’ve been Gamora’s story, not Quill’s.
Dialogue - Almost no memorable dialogue and lots of corny one-liners instead which made it a struggle to feel for the characters had it not been for affection stemming from previous movies transferring over (and sometimes even that wasn’t enough). TOO MANY QUIPS especially for characters who aren't necessarily quippy and a movie that shouldn't be. I know the MCU's known for this, and I HATE it because everyone's humor code sounds and is the same and BP and IM1, the two most significant films in the MCU, show that you don't have to resort to it to make a movie fun while tacking a serious and/or heavy plot.
Timeline - This all happened way too fast. I don’t think Thanos should have gotten all of the Stones that quickly and easily especially since apparently this all happened within a day (or two?) which begs the question: what tf were Thanos and the Black Order doing all this time? If it’s that easy to get everything, why didn’t other people try? He just seems so overpowered that there doesn’t seem to be anything to this story besides the characters reacting and uh......that doesn’t make for a solid foundation for a story. You need characters being more active than reactive. And I feel like one day is just too quick and the Stones are too powerful that it really felt meh.
Strategy - It’s hard to scramble together a strategy when things happen so quickly that you’re put on your back foot and all you can do is focus on surviving, but uh...aside from me yelling about how Tony is right and I feel vindicated, I was a little disappointed because Tony was preparing for this for six years so I thought that we’d see more of his plan even though lbr there’s no way he could’ve planned for the way that things went down. Some other stuff were stupid like going to Titan which I guess makes sense because 1) they wanted the fight away from Earth to minimize human casualties, 2) they didn't know the Guardians and Thor were out there or where they were, 3) I think the ship was set to Titan anyway, 4) they lost all contact with Earth, but...that’s kind of contrived and idk, couldn’t Strange contact someone on Earth? Or use portals? If not, I feel like we should have seen limits to his magic because it just seems ridiculous that none of them would think of that.
Set-up to Avengers 4 - Going back to the timeline thing, because everything happened too fast and at such a gigantic scale, everything lost its impact because the action was relentless and because you know there’s another film coming so this ended up feeling like a set-up to Avengers 4, the way that AoU felt like a filler movie there to plant some seeds for CW. Why should we care when we know we really need to care in A4? I guess we should worry about what things are reversible or not, but I was underwhelmed. Obviously this is unavoidable just because it’s a two-part saga, but at the same time there should be a few things that we really feel devastated and panicky about.
It’s just...you had ten years to work on this, six years of buildup from The Avengers, so much room to be inventive like never before, and a lot of comics to draw inspiration from, and.....this is it? That's it? That's all? Considering how it was so hyped up, I went from thinking it looked like a bland, generic mess in the trailer to hoping that I would be emotionally eviscerated and then being nervous over the past 24 hours that I would be, but nope. I WANTED TO BE A DESTROYED, MESSY WRECK AND I WASN'T. ://///

New reasons to think the work-from-home revolution is overblown A number of firms think the past 12 months have proven the merits of remote work, and have pledged more flexible schedules. But increasingly, there are signs the work-from-home revolution could have its limits. What’s happening: Most major global companies no longer intend to trim their physical footprint after the pandemic, according to a KPMG survey of 500 CEOs published Tuesday. Only 17% of CEOs expect to make reductions, versus 69% in August. A mere 30% said they would have most employees working remotely two to three days a week. “This suggests that either downsizing has already taken place, or plans have changed as the impact of extended, unplanned, remote working has taken a toll on some employees,” KPMG said in its report. A survey of 1,450 corporate executives in North America published by Accenture (ACN) last month also showed that the shift to home working may not be as dramatic as first expected. Executives estimated that 18% of employees had permanent flexible arrangements before the pandemic hit. After the pandemic, they predicted that would increase to just 25% on average. “I expected that number to be higher,” Jimmy Etheredge, Accenture’s CEO of North America, told me this week. Etheredge thinks the number will increase as discussions continue. At his company, which plans to keep flexible arrangements in place at least through the summer, remote work will likely be managed on a project-by-project basis. While some customers in sectors like retail have been showing up every day — and may expect their consultants to do the same — others have indicated they’re comfortable managing virtual professional relationships. “Really, it will come down to client by client,” Etheredge said. Some companies are moving ahead with plans to cut back on expensive real estate, including three of Britain’s biggest banks. But the surveys are an indication that not everyone is willing to make a gamble on more permanent remote work options just yet. Watch this space: The pandemic has also renewed conversations about mental health, forcing employers to be more responsive to concerns about burnout and overwork, Etheredge observed. That was apparent this week, when Goldman Sachs (GS) CEO David Solomon pledged to keep Saturdays free for investment bankers and speed up the hiring of junior employees after a group of analysts described “inhumane” working conditions, including 95-hour weeks and instances of workplace abuse. “This is something that our leadership team and I take very seriously,” Solomon said in a voice message sent to staff Sunday. White House aides prep $3 trillion jobs package for Biden White House advisers are expected to present a two-part, $3 trillion jobs and infrastructure proposal to President Joe Biden as soon as this week, according to two people familiar with the plan. The latest: The proposal, which Biden’s top advisers have been deliberating over for weeks, would be segmented into two separate parts — one focused on infrastructure and clean energy, and a second focused on what’s being termed the “care economy,” with a focus on key domestic economic issues, my CNN colleague Phil Mattingly reports. The pitch would be a major step toward enacting key elements of the jobs agenda that Biden laid out during his campaign, with a suite of potential tax increases on corporations and the wealthy as options to cover some of the costs. White House officials stressed that no final decisions have been made. Biden still has to review the proposals and plans to consult heavily with Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi about the scale and legislative sequencing of the next key pillar of his agenda. But as details of Biden’s next big legislative priority take shape, investors and businesses are watching closely. On the radar: Executives from major oil companies including Chevron, Exxon, BP, Shell and ConocoPhillips met virtually Monday with Biden’s national climate advisor Gina McCarthy, an industry source told my CNN Business colleague Matt Egan. Following the meeting, the American Petroleum Institute pledged to cooperate with the Biden administration on the climate crisis. “We are committed to working with the White House to develop effective government policies that help meet the ambitions of the Paris Agreement and support a cleaner future,” API CEO Mike Sommers, who participated in the meeting, said in a statement. Movie theaters think they can start making money again Cineworld will begin a phased reopening of its Regal theaters in the United States next month. The company, which is the world’s second largest movie theater operator, said Tuesday that it will open some theaters on Apr. 2, with showings of “Godzilla vs. Kong,” my CNN Business colleague Hanna Ziady reports. More cinemas will open on Apr. 16 with “Mortal Kombat.” “With capacity restrictions expanding to 50% or more across most US states, we will be able to operate profitably in our biggest markets,” CEO Mooky Greidinger said. Last week, AMC, the world’s biggest movie theater chain, said that 99% of its US theaters will be open by the end of this month. The pandemic meant that the release of more than a dozen major films was delayed. Some, like Disney’s “Mulan,” skipped theaters altogether. That hammered companies like Cineworld and AMC (AMC), which lacked big films to draw even limited crowds. “The pandemic has accelerated what was already a narrowing window between when films could be seen in theaters and when they could be viewed at home,” CNN media analyst Bill Carter wrote in a recent column. Investor insight: Cineworld shares fell Tuesday, but have logged gains of more than 60% this year on excitement about reopening. AMC Entertainment’s shares, which have been swept up in recent waves of retail trading enthusiasm, have jumped nearly 490%. Up next Adobe (ADBE) and GameStop (GME) report earnings after US markets close. Also today: New US home sales for February post at 10 a.m. ET. Coming tomorrow: The latest data on US crude inventories will arrive as oil prices slide once again. Animation done
Today I finished animating my last shot. I now have a complete film build with no gaps, it comes in at 2 minutes 52 seconds.
Less than two weeks ago I applied for an extension as the impact Covid-19 has had on my work became clear. The past week though my productivity has taken a huge boost and I’ve been churning out multiple shots a day, but not sacrificing quality in the process.
As it stands now, visually I’m very very satisfied with my film, something that a few months ago when I lost all of my work on the faulty hard drive I didn’t think would happen. I thought I’d be handing in an unfinished mess of a film praying for a good grade, but now I feel confident in my film.
Tomorrow I’ll spend the morning putting the finishing touches on the live action shots and check the everything’s right in the edit, in the afternoon I plan to start my final audio. I don’t plan for the audio to take me any longer than a day so hopefully what that will mean is a complete film by the end of tomorrow and then Wednesday I gain a day to put the finishing touches on my showreel and art of book.
I could have my work complete in a folder ready to submit the night before the deadline, thats very achievable at this point, I have no words.
Hopefully the next two days go as planned and I end up as satisfied with my audio as I am with my visual, if it doesn’t quite go to plan I do have extra time after Thursday to refine it. But it’s really important to me now that I get my work in for the deadline, I haven’t had the easiest run at uni, my first two years ended in extensions, this one ending on time would be a huge personal achievement.
