demi god LU time
the law of hyperfixations says you must combine interests at every given chance
adding a cut here as to not clog feeds!! its a real long post
i wanna hear thoughts too! so dont be afraid to comment. these are my personal opinions and i wanna hear if anyone agrees or disagrees :D (apologies for all the tags btw)
edit to add the stupid doodle
Tumblr media
the gods all have favorites, and ironically none of them are their own kids (save for hades: he loves his kid. doesn't make him a good parent, but you know?)
In a more Zelda timeline abiding setting; Originally they weren't all at camp halfblood at the same time, but time shenanigans decided they were to be brought together
Imagine Chiron’s surprise when 7 of his dead campers waltz into camp (this happens EVERY SINGLE TIME they enter camp. Dionysus is completely unfazed, knowing the bs time shit the gods are dealing with atm)
By the time they enter camp in Wild’s Hyrule for the second time he kinda understands (Wind and Sky didnt have a Camp Halfblood, for the record, for obvious reasons)
Alternatively, its some form of modern au where they’re just from different parts of Hyrule (skyloft, downfall, ordonia, windfall peninsula, hyrule town (different from castle town), the list goes on) which would make a lot more sense for this kinda au (the world would’ve just had a LOT of calamities within the span of a few years, some of the heroes knowing about camp and others not so much)
(i think Legend, Wars, Time, Wind (post WW) and Four would’ve known about Camp Halfblood while the others were just kinda on their own until after their quests) meaning over half of them didn’t have prophecies and just went to deal with the issue themselves, possibly meaning on their journey they learned of camp
Ok well, all of them but Wars, who grew up at Camp Halfblood
All Zelda’s are children of Athena, save for Skyward Sword Zelda since she's the reincarnation of Hylia (yeah, im keeping the original Zelda goddesses! What of it?)
At some point fairly early on, a Zelda only had a son, who got together with Athena at some point and boom
Sky: child of Zeus
self explanatory
God of the skies? his name is literally Sky
not to mention how fucking powerful he is?
he was the "first" Link; Zeus was technically the first God, it makes sense (this is such a stupid reason)
The skies are his home, Zeus finding someone on Skyloft and “falling in love” with their love of the sky too results in this bad boy right here
The demise fight? Only a zeus kid could harbor lightning like that
A camp counselor in the modern setting (ik typically once you’re 18, you’re no longer a camper really, but shhhh)
Wind: child of Poseidon
Don't roll your eyes, i've got a reason!!
the 4 wind gods throw a fit anytime he's sent on a quest (they all love him even if they won't admit it)
A world purely ocean and islands? Poseidon would have a fuckin ball
The Great Sea needed a hero, Wind was brought about more for necessity than out of the want to have a child (this leaves a hard disconnect between wind and the gods, knowing his dad didn’t really have him out of love for his mom but because the world needed to be saved)
The irony of Poseidon being the patron of pegasi and horses and Wind not knowing what a horse is will never not be a funny thought
Has more control over the wind than he does the sea (for now)
he, like Legend, pointedly ignores that he's a demi-god, especially since he comes after the Hero of Time (kinda hard to live up to that, even outside of a demi-god au)
The ocean and winds are his mood ring: you upset him the wind gods are after you
In a modern setting, the same reason applies kinda; a quest under the sea would be virtually impossible for anyone but a child of Poseidon, and hell knows a cyclopes isnt gonna be sent (gotta love those prophecies)
OR!! OR AND HEAR ME OUT
Wind isnt a demigod
The wind gods still adore him, but he doesn't have the hero’s spirit and i think that’d kinda translate to not being a demigod, yet still being the one who was destined to go on the quest because there just weren't any demigods to do it
Still not set on which id go with
Legend: child of Hades
Ah yes, child of the big three goes on so many quests trope. Love to see it
he's Apollo's favorite favorite (Warriors is jealous as hell. Thats his dad! Wdym he likes Legend more????)
Pointedly ignores the fact he's a demigod (at least, he definitely tries to)
Blessed by (and beefing with) so many gods from his quests
probably one of the few heroes who's spoken to their godly parent (trust me, it was out of obligation rather than free will)
Prefers helping out the more minor, underappreciated, and not as needy or bitchy gods (like Hestia, for example)
curses the Olympians constantly, they've learned to ignore him, hes their best questing kid
Sort of a general camp counselor since Hades doesn't really have kids (its technically his last year but hes been there the longest out of everyone)
Managed to block the oracle over iris message
After his trip to the dark world and lorule, the gods go haywire around him, much to his delight (because it means they leave him alone)
Hyrule: child of Hecate
adopted by Hermes (much to the dismay of all the Hermes children)
I was on the line between Hecate, Apollo, and Hermes; Hyrule’s affinity for magic and the blood curse resulted in Hecate to win
Very detached from the gods, the help he receives is never outright but more subtle blessings
The gods like to ignore Downfall after Legend died tbh (outside of modern, obviously)
Well, they still ignore Downfall as a city/country.
Only learned of camp thanks to Legend, otherwise he wouldn’t have had a clue it existed
Wild: child of Athena
Also adopted by Hermes
One of the more chaotic children of Athena
The idea of Athena being his godly parent sourced from his resourcefulness and quick battle (or just general) strategies, along with his pre-calamity self being stoic and more on the critical side
Completely forgot he was a demigod and just let loose, Athena is more than slightly perturbed by him and yet so infatuated
Supervises archery at camp
Warriors: child of Apollo
exemplifies almost 0 traits of his father other than his looks and his affinity for medicine (shit archer, shit musician, can't write poetry)
blessed by Athena during the war since he was struggling so much, she always has a soft spot for the heros since they fight to protect her daughters so hard (aka pity blessing)
Actively beefing with Ares
Aphrodite likes to keep an eye on him, mostly for entertainment (she woulda eaten the whole Cia debacle UP)
Very notorious in camp considering he was a war captain at the ripe age of 17; once learning of the whole Camp Jupiter has apartments and college for half bloods insisted and led a project at CHB to get something similar built (which is where he, Sky and Twilight stay after turning 18)
Twilight: child of Demeter
His love for ranch animals and caring for his farm lead me to this decision
Also the whole wolf thing, that also counts
Appalled by the fact Wind doesn't know what a horse is considering he's literally the son of Poseidon (jealous the kid can talk to Epona and he can't)
After his journey to the twilight, the gods kinda flicker between Greek and Roman around him so they tend to avoid him like Legend
blessed/cursed by Lupa, hence the wolf thing
Teaches foraging lessons at camp
Four: child of Hephaestus
He's the smithy, I couldn’t not say he's a Hephaestus kid
received a lot less help from the gods since he was one of the first
started advocating that heros receive help from the divine after LU concludes so those after him have a fighting chance (not in the modern setting)
I havent played many of his games, but the kinstones sound like a thing Hephaestus would scatter across the earth as scrap from his creations
Not one of the fire wielders (the only one that can wield fire is Red when split, mostly because of the elemental bs in minish cap)
After drawing the Four Sword, Janus (despite being roman (i like to think the four sword would be a roman artifact, it just feels right)) was suddenly pretty interested and bestowed what wisdom he had for the demi-god
Vulcan, Neptune, Aeolus, and Ceres all came together to forge the elemental stones; the Minish were still the ones to bestow the sword to Hylian people
The gods tend to avoid him too, for the same reason they avoid Twilight and Legend (dark world shenanigans and the Four Sword)
He loves the damn forge at CHB, and was ecstatic seeing the one at Camp Jupiter
He was asked by Chiron if he would be interested in running a forge class for young demigods (be it his siblings or anyone interested) but sadly declined
Has that air of responsibility to him, being a seasoned quester (and while his 3 doesn't stand to Legend’s 6, its still pretty sizable) hes looked up to by the younger campers
Time: child of Demeter Kronos?
The Kokiri were so Demeter core dont even tell me they werent
I guess they’d kinda act like nymphs and dryads in a sense??
His abilities use to relate to his mother until the events of his first quest: the Ocarina of Time was designed to slowly corrupt the user, being a creation of Kronos’
However, it wasn’t really designed with a demigod in mind sooo…
Also self explanatory, the titan of time? Duh… huh?? what do you mean he was taken over?? What do you mean he was a child of Demeter?? No he wasnt lol that Neverrr happened
the reason he's the only “child” of a titan is mainly because of the fierce deity mask literally making him god-like, meaning he has a lot more power harbored in him sooo (the second he dawned that mask he discarded his old identity for that of a titan’s child, since it was also cursed object)
Don’t ask how he came to being Kronos’ kin, no one knows, not even he does (I do) (no, it does not imply a Hylian wandered into Tarturus and got out alive to have the baby)
Avoids interacting with the gods at all costs, he's weary of them as they are of him (even if he saved the world twice)
Extras :)
Ravio: child of Pluto
blessed by Minerva for his natural quick witted nature and clever war strategies, if her own daughter can't succeed she might as well make sure ONE does
can tell if a rupee is real or not by glance alone
Sheerow scares the fuck out of the gods, which in turn means Ravio puts them on edge, a thing very few can achieve
the gods never gave him much thought until the events of albw, to which he suddenly gained like four pair of godly eyes on him
can and will plan one of the worlds most successful heists, refuses to participate
also beefing with Ares (not Mars, Ares)
Based on my personal HC that Ravio’s some sort of artificer (be it replicating magic dungeon items or just flat out creating new ones) i think Vulcan has his eyes on him too
Hilda: child of Minerva
by far the strangest child Minerva ever birthed
exemplifies the traits of a hero rather than a ruler
a little jealous her mother likes Ravio more than her
gods be damned, she's not going to let them neglect her kingdom anymore
a force of fucking nature that single handedly forced a meeting with the gods and somehow forced them to agree to start restoring Lorule (she got the idea from Legend, who has done this multiple times for multiple different reasons)

Mermaid Muichiro and Pirate Reader AU. 🧍
————————————————————————
Tumblr media
Mermaid!Muichiro x Pirate!Reader
warnings: mentions of drowning, pet names
————————————————————————
You and your crew had set sail in the early morning. The weather seemed like it would be clear skies all day long, which was perfect for your long voyage. You and your crew were looking for an island that had been rumored to have tons of gold and other treasures scattered all around it. It was safe to say you and your crew were excited, which is why you set out so early so you could be the first ones.
Captain Kagaya had ordered you to go below deck and clean the extra weapons just in case you guys had to fight. You did as you were told, and climbed down the ladder into the bottom deck. You quickly found the spare weapons and wasted no time to start cleaning them. After around 2 hours, you were nearing the end when it seemed to get darker. You didn’t think much at first bc it was usually dark where you were, but outside seems darker. You looked out and saw these huge dark clouds heading the ship’s way. As you were looking, something caught your eye. It looked like two glowing eyes staring at you.
You didn’t recall anything in the ocean that had glowing eyes, but something about them entranced you. Suddenly, you hear shinobu call for you. “Y/n! Get up here now, we need your help!” You quickly put away the rest of the weapons and climbed back up the ladder to be met with pouring rain. The winds were horrendous, tilting the ship every which way. You felt like you were going to be sick, but you had a job to do. You had to reposition the sails as they were making the ship go everywhere except the direction it was supposed to go.
Suddenly, the post that the sails were attached to had been struck by lightning, somehow the lightning has traveled through far enough you felt small sparks from it which made you fall back a little. You were now close to the edge of the boat. It was hard to stand up, the boat was moving way more now. Suddenly, a big gust of wind tilted the ship making the side you were on almost hit the water. Unfortunately, it caused you to fall off. Your screams could be heard until you hit the water. The last thing you remembered seeing before you went under, was some of your crew mates looking down at you.
It felt like you were drowning. You couldn’t breathe. You were in and out of consciousness. The last thing you really remember seeing, was a teal colored tail, and your own legs. You remember feeling like someone had pulled you into a tight hug.
When you awoke, it was still storming, but not nearly as bad as it was. You were on the shore of some island now. You looked over and saw figure beside you, half of its body underwater. When your eyes focused, you saw it was a boy that was naked, or so you thought. You sat up slightly, feeling a little lightheaded, you rubbed your head. “W-who are you?” You looked at the boy as he looked at you, and you couldn’t help but see those glowing eyes again. “I’m Muichiro.” You stared at him some more before it finally clicked.
“Hey, you’re what I saw in the water before I got thrown off the ship.” He simply nodded at your observation. “Why were you in the water anyways? Don’t you also have a ship?” He shook his head. “No, because I’m a merman.” You looked at him with wide eyes. “A-a what?!” Just then, he lifted his tail out of the water and repeated himself. “I’m a merman.” You looked at him stunned. “B-but mermaids or anything like that aren’t real.” “Oh but we are.” You couldn’t wrap your head around the fact you were seeing a real life mermaid. This couldn’t be true.
“But why did you save me?” He gave you a sly smile as he crept towards you. He crept towards you and cupped your face with one hand. “Sweetheart, I created that storm, I made you fall off that ship so I could rescue you.” You looked at him with shock and fury. “You what?! Why?!” He chuckled at you as he crept closer. “I wanted you all to myself. Once I saw you on that ship, I knew you had to be mine.” The hand that was on your face, had now grabbed both of your wrists, trapping you. He continued to creep closer towards you. “H-hey! What are you d-doing?!” “Marking you as mine.” He replied in a dark voice. And then, he leaned in and tried to kiss you.
Suddenly you woke up. You shot up in bed and looked around, breathing heavily. You realized you were in your bed in the cabin part of the ship. You tried to get up, but your head hurt. Suddenly Aoi came down to check up on you. When she saw you trying to get up, she rushed towards you. “Y/n, please don’t get up, you suffered a terrible hit to your head during the storm. You need rest.” You looked at her with terror in your eyes. “B-but what about Muichiro?!” She looked at you puzzled. “Who?” You looked down at the ground. So it was just a dream..? You shook your head. “Nevermind, um can I get some alone time?” She nodded at you before she left.
When she did, you got up despite what she told you, and went to the window. You stared out the small window, looking at the clear sky. Then you looked down at the water, just then, those two glowing teal eyes looked at you, winking. Was it really a dream or not?

Woo Be Upon Ye:
Medieval fantasy TimKon AU where Kon is a half-dragon prince of the realm who elevates commoner Tim to the Royal Guard on a whim. Also has Bart as an apprentice mage, Donna and Cassie as Themiscyran ambassadors, many of Tim’s school friends as Royal Guards, Wildcat as a mentor, the Daily Planet staff as the royal council, and more! Planned as part one of a four-part series.
Bernard Dowd vs. The World:
After hearing Tim’s many, many, many stories about his friends, Bernard realizes that almost all of Tim’s guy friends were hitting on Tim at multiple points. Failing to convince Tim of this, however, Bernard makes it his mission to obtain written testimonies from as many of said friends as he can to support his case. Such friends include Superboy, Danny Temple, Sebastian Ives, Lonnie Machin, and more.
Two for the Price of Them:
In this AU, Tim’s 100th cloning attempt is a success, and so clones of both Kon and Bart are created. Partway through the artificial aging process, however, an agent of N.O.W.H.E.R.E. (overhauled from the same metahuman-abduction organization from the New52) attacks. Tim is forced to go on the run and off the grid with the two clone babies.
The World Didn’t Stand Still:
When Kathy Branden plugs a Phantom Zone Crystal into her teleportal and visits the Phantom Zone, she comes back with a young Krytonian boy, Chris Kent, who claims to be the foster son of Clark Kent and Lois Lane. Effectively taking pre-boot Chris from after his debut story and transporting him into post-Rebirth continuity. Part of a planned trilogy of fics centered on Chris. Guaranteed that they will not end with Chris getting punted into the Phantom Zone for an unknown length of time.
The Dichotomy of Lor-Zod and Chris Kent:
In post-Infinite Frontiers continuity, Lor-Zod begins getting flashes of a life before his own, of a life where he was family to the loathsome Kal-El of the House of El. Lor’s father, Dru-Zod, convince Lor that his affliction must be the machinations of the Justice League’s Martian Manhunter, a psychic attack meant to weaken New Kandor for invasion. Along with Non as a chaperone, Lor-Zod goes on a quest to hunt the Martian Manhunter, though he’s really on the path to restoring his pre-boot history and identity, and all the internal conflict that comes from the contradictions between his two selves. Effectively how I would approach reconciling the current iteration of Lor-Zod with Chris Kent. Guest-starring Martian Manhunter and M’gann M’orzz.
The Cola Caper:
Upon hearing the devastating news that an embargo on the island nation of Santa Prisca will halt the distribution of Zesti Cola in the United States, Dick and Tim go on a mission to infiltrate Santa Prisca and abscond with as much Zesti as they can, and maybe even the secret recipe if they’re lucky.
Stray Little Tiger:
A Billy Batson-centric fic placed in a Stray!Tim Drake AU. Selina Kyle, on her way home from a caper, comes across a lightning-struck boy in an alley. Clearly homeless and in need of help, she decides to take the boy in until he’s healed, though the lightning seems to have severely damaged his vocal cords. She doesn’t know that this boy is Billy Batson, that he’s Captain Marvel, or that there’s something deeply wrong with the Rock of Eternity. This story is told mainly from Selina’s POV, with occasional sidetracks to Tim’s POV, but never Billy’s POV. Identity shenanigans, found family, magic problems, and more.
A Single Word Spoken:
A girl in the shape of a weapon is brought to Fawcett City, where she fulfills her purpose for the first and last time.
The girl who can no longer be a weapon hides from her wielder in an old subway and finds herself transported to a place of great magic.
There, the girl who wishes to be more than she was made to be finds a Wizard, who sees the girl for her heart and not for the blood staining her skin.
The Wizard teaches the girl a name.
Cassandra speaks her first word.
And in so doing, she speaks power.
Also featuring Cass navigating the anachronistic Fawcett City, befriending Billy Batson, codependency issues, an old man who’s also a Bengal tiger, ancient grudges, a different old man who’s barely qualified to give Cass life advice, and more.
Fake it For the Win:
While on a cruise, Tim and Kon decide to fake being married in order to compete on an onboard game show for married couples. When they actually win, though, they have no choice but to keep up the act for the rest of their trip. Fake dating to real dating, with a focus on comedy.
Crossroads of Fate and Eternity:
JLI-era fic with a couple of canon-divergent indulgences. Kent Nelson, helped by Khalid Nassour, decides to take Billy Batson under his wing as a student of the mystic arts. Magic lessons, Tower of Fate and Rock of Eternity shenanigans, Bromfield family stuff, an ancient entity and an ancient demon, philosophy, and other such tidbits.
A Little Ways Along the Family Tree:
When a villain travels through time to the future and accidentally takes Robin with him, Damian Wayne must team up with Mar’i and Jake Grayson to defeat the villain and return Damian to his proper time.
A High-Speed Romantic Tryst on an Open-Water Murder Shack:
When a couple of thugs steal a houseboat belonging to one of Tim’s marina neighbors while he and Bernard are hanging out, the two of them give chase in Tim’s own houseboat. Comedy, crack treated seriously.

AU: azula escapes the asylum becomes a vigilante akin to batman and is more effective at defeating ozai fanatics than zuko (much to his jealousy and anger when he finds out) and azula manages to fix the reputation of her nation through her vigilantism and while iroh sends agents to take her down as a threat (succeeding in imprisoning her) ty Lee and mai who have found out who the vigilante is, stand up for azula on the trial and state that most of the accusations for what she did during the war is slander. By the end of it, azula is freed and moves to Kyoshi island to live an easier life, even if the warriors hate her; she even sets up a life as a farmer/trader where she sells vegetables, fruits, teas, herbs, spices and medicine. (Tyzula endgame)
Hello, @supbro50000 !!!
1. Azula gets sick and tired of waiting for someone to let her out of the asylum so she breaks out. She frees herself then rushes to a small village outside of the capital to lay low for a while. While there, a nice family takes her in and allows her to stay. She gets food, water, a place to sleep and does some work around the house for them while she's figuring out her next move. The family that takes her in has a mom, dad and two young boys. Azula grows close to the mom in the house, who treats her like one of her own, and even spends some evenings playing with the kids outside. (Mother: I saw you playing outside with the boys. Azula: I was training. Mother: I'd love to meet whoever your parents are. Not everything has to involve training. Azula: You would not want to meet my parents. Trust me. Mother: I'm sure they can't be that bad. Azula: You'd be surprised.) Initially, Azula wants to take down Zuko and become Fire Lord again. She's just taking the time to figure out what the best way to do that is. However, one night, the village, and family that has been incredibly kind to her, are attacking by Ozai fanatics. Angered that they're hurting the people who have been kind to her (especially the mom), Azula attacks when she scares them off, revealing her blue fire and lightning. Azula doesn't try to remain in the village after this, she just gives the mom a silent nod and smile and rushes off into the forest.
2. Azula sets up base in an abandoned village that was deserted by people years ago. She hunts the various animals, collects water from the stream and buys whatever else she needs from neighboring towns to construct her base. From there, she decides to go after the Ozai fanatics who are terrorizing the Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom citizens that are trying to call the Fire Nation home. She's careful, never showing her face, and hardly bends (so no one is able to see her blue flames). Wherever she goes, she takes care of the Ozai fanatics with ease because they don't know how to fight a sane Azula, no one does. She's hurt from time to time but never returns to her base without making sure she's gotten the fanatics to leave. As more time goes on, Azula overhears from various that the loyalists are backing down and are more and more scared to come out. Not because of Zuko's efforts but before of Azula. (EK citizen: I'm telling you. My fiance and I were terrified of staying in the Fire Nation last year. She wants to stay here cause her family is in the Fire Nation, but with the loyalists we didn't know if it would be safe for me. Azula: How horrible. Citizen: It was until that Phoenix showed up. Azula: Phoenix? Citizen: She's this fighter who's been taking down the loyalists. Everyone calls her Phoenix because someone saw her bend and the former Fire Lord wanted to be the Phoenix King so...kinda funny. Azula, smirking: I guess it is.)
3. You know who doesn't like this development? (Ozai Loyalists? Not far off, but no). Zuko. He's not against the fact that the loyalists are being taken care of (that's the only part about this that he actually likes) but he doesn't for the fact that it's some masked vigilante who's doing it. They don't know what she wants or who she's working for and that does not sit right with Zuko. One day, when Azula is fighting, Zuko happens to be nearby with Mai and they head over and see the Phoenix. (Zuko: It can’t be…) Pretty quickly they discover it’s Azula and Zuko is not happy. He believes this is all some big stunt by her to trick people or that she’s working with the loyalists in some way. Mai isn’t convinced that she’s doing that at all, but Zuko doesn’t listen. Instead, he informs Iroh about what is going and Iroh orders Yuyan archers and imperial firebenders to head out and capture Azula. During one of her fights when she’s injured, Azula drags herself back to her base and finds everyone there waiting for her. They subdue her and take her to the palace, throwing her in a cell while she awaits her trial. During this time, Mai talks to Ty Lee about Azula being the vigilante and the two come to the understanding that Azula wasn’t doing it for fame or to trick anyone because she never seems to want to do that. Even in prison, she just talks about wanting to get rid of the Ozai loyalists. The two decide that they have to do something.
4. At Azula’s trial, both for her vigilante actions and actions during the war, Mai and Ty Lee speak up for her. They argue that if she’s getting put in jail then, by logic, so should they and Iroh. (Mai: We were on her side. Everything you’re accusing her of is something we did too. Zuko: That’s different. You two- Mai: I love you, Zuko, but that’s the only reason why I defected from Azula’s team. I didn’t think the war was wrong or the Fire Nation was wrong. I did it to protect you and Ty Lee defected to protect me. Ty Lee: And if Azula deserves to be in prison for her actions then why isn’t Iroh. He tried to conquer Ba Sing Se too. Iroh: That’s different. I have realized the mistakes of my actions and deeply regret them and I’m doing what I- Ty Lee: You had time to understand that you were wrong. How long did you go on your spiritual journey? Iroh: 2 years. Ty Lee: 2 years after the war Azula was helping stop Ozai loyalists. Isn’t that a sign that she doesn’t want Ozai back? That she doesn’t want him to succeed? That she realizes her mistakes? Azula: I don’t want Ozai back. I want him gone and in prison forever and those loyalists would have prevented that from happening.) After much arguing and back and forth, Azula is released and allowed to leave the palace without issue. Azula does leave but she also realizes that the Ozai loyalists are pretty much gone now and, after the trial, she doesn’t want to remain in the Fire Nation. Ty Lee comes to her after the trial and says that she might have an idea.
5. It’s a challenge at first, living on Kyoshi Island, but Azula and Ty Lee get used to it. The Kyoshi Warriors are not fans of Azula when she first arrives, but the firebender learns to gain their trust and prove that she’s not here for any kind of malicious reason. Eventually, the girls learn to accept that Azula know lives on the island. For the sake of having something to do, Azula trains with Ty Lee in the Kyoshi Warrior style(some girls are against it but Ty Lee convinces them). Suki provides her with more than a few books about a firebender who traveled with Avatar Kyoshi who could create white fire (Azula becomes an instant fan). When Azula had mastered the Kyoshi Warrior’s way of fighting, she decides to stop fighting, taking a few years to simply rest and be free. She and Ty Lee get married when they’re both 25. By then, Azula has become a farmer and trader on the island, learning how to grow crops thanks to her neighbors and trading with Earth Kingdom coastal towns. During one of her visits, Azula notices a young girl stealing from her stand and discovers the child (about 4 or 5) is an orphan. She takes the girl back to the island and she and Ty Lee agree to adopt her. 3 years later, they adopt a Water Tribe baby boy (who is a suspected waterbender). (Katara: Not that I don’t love seeing you two with kids, but why not a firebender? Someone you could train. Azula: I was too worried I’d end up like Ozai. It might be harder for him to learn bending but at least I’ll never hurt him. He’ll be safe and loved even if he is raised by two women from the Fire Nation. Katara: Aw. That’s so sweet. I’m sure you’ll both raise him well. If you need any help with his waterbending later in life, let me know. Azula: We will. Ty Lee: *Side eyeing Azula* Katara: What? Azula: There’s a second reason we adopted him. Not nearly as important as making sure he’s loved and supported and- Katara: What? Azula: It’s hilarious watching old racist Fire Nationals at the palace almost have a heart attack when they realize their former princess is now the mother of an Earth Kingdom ‘peasant’ and a Waterbender. Katara: You know what? That is hilarious.

Other Emperors AU — Ninjago
So. The beloved Ice Emperor. The corrupting potential of the Staff of Forbidden Spinjitzu + Amnesia + Vex.
Now what if the Ice Emperor came in other flavours?
That’s right, introducing the Other Emperors AU, a collection of different “What ifs” for if other people had been zapped with the staff by Aspheera!
Different Versions:
Earth Emperor / King of the Underworld = Cole
Lightning Emperor / Thunder God / Lightning Striker = Jay
Fire Emperor / Western Wildfire / Fire Maker = Kai
Energy Emperor / Lord of Energy / Luh-Lord = Lloyd
Water Empress / Commander of the Sea / Wrath of the Waves = Nya
Empress of Technology / Automated Empress / Overseer / The Technodrome = Pixal
Creation Emperor / Second Spinjitzu Master / The Creator = Wu
Not all of them are fleshed out (honestly most just have… one or two minor ideas, but I’ll gladly bounce ideas back and forth with people in Reblogs, comments, and/or asks!), but here’s what I’ve got—
Earth Emperor / King of the Underworld
- Got zapped into the Neverrealm instead and lost his memories from a concussion in the fight
- Vex finds him and the staff and convinces him to take it
- He raises/sinks the Earth to create a stone dome over the realm and make it a cavern of tunnels; some call him the King of the Underworld (Hades vibes) for it and he hates it even if he can’t remember why (haha forgotten Skulkin memories)
- Master of the Mountain mixed with ancient mythology vibes
- His hair grows out and becomes partially lava because come on that look just is so cool on him ; his armour is also formed of obsidian/onyx and crystals
- Difficult to anger (a very patient emperor that listens to his people whenever Vex doesn’t interfere) but if you do (usually on Vex’s manipulation) OH BOY you’re in for it now
- Built a dangerous labyrinth King-Minos-style complete with a stone minotaur in the centre that he sends prisoners/people Vex tricks him into thinking are enemies
- Is very fascinated by Kai’s fire (and Jay’s lightning) because the only light source in the caverns are glowing crystals formed from his powers or special regulated flint/coal-based fires
- He keeps Kai with him when the Ninja arrive and banish the rest to the labyrinth to “prove themselves” on Vex’s manipulation (possibly specifically dropping Jay in the minotaur room as a sacrifice because Jay made a menace of himself in the throne room)
- The Ninja make it through the traps because they’re all kinda Cole-themed (like one involves the Triple Tiger Sashay) and arrive back at the throne room after defeating the stone minotaur, much to Cole/Vex’s astonishment/ire respectively
- Cole realizes the Ninja are telling the truth and that Vex has been lying to him and ends up dropping the staff after reverting the Neverrealm back to its original state
Lightning Emperor / Thunder God / Lightning Strike
- Realizes Zane’s vision (yeah, Jay is the only person who knew Zane had a vision and he DISMISSED IT, hecking come on) is about to come true and shoves Zane out of the way of Aspheera’s shot
- Cracked his head on a rock falling through the portal and has zero memories <3 Should he be dead? Probably. But he’s Jay, so he survives, especially with his boosted element lashing out
-  Vex finds him and is so confused over the lightning appearance but realizes he can use it
- Skybound / Lightning Ruins parallels with Jay ripping up chunks of ground and making floating magnetized islands
- Has a very ominous cult following Vex leads because its Jay, of course it would happen, its not the first time
- Is kinda revered more as a ‘godly figure’ than an emperor (Vex uses his status to make orders in Jay’s name)
- Kinda unhinged, but you can blame the staff + Vex + the concussion and blood loss
- Fascinated by Cole because he absorbs/grounds lightning fine ; also fascinated by Zane who is a walking metal lightning rod
- Constantly zapping around
Fire Emperor / Western Wildfire / Fire Maker
- Lost his powers to Aspheera, battled her with the second staff, and got his butt yeeted to the Never Realm- that’s rough, buddy
- Gets his well-deserved focus season
- He really means well and just wants to keep his people safe, but unfortunately it comes across as overly possessive and tyrannical
- Older brothers so hard that he comes across as evil/possessive and aggressive when he’s trying to be caring and protective
- Don’t have much for him because the fandom already has insanely cool Fire Emperor AUs
Energy Emperor / Lord of Energy / Luh-Lord
- So many Lord Garmadon parallels
- ONI-DRAGON LLOYD ONI-DRAGON LLOYD
- Also a surprising amount of Morro parallels about making his own destiny
- So, so traumatized and got corrupted simply for wanting to take his fate into his own hands for once
- Punts Vex out of the castle because he’s had enough of people telling him what to do
- Kinda goes back to S1 Lloyd because this kid just wants his childhood back
- Goes from “scary emperor who’s going to execute you” to “excited little kid” the second he sees his siblings
- Taking the staff back hurts because Lloyd isn’t mad, he’s just super sad and confused and pleads with them not to do it
Water Empress / Commander of the Sea / Wrath of the Waves
- The Never Realm just became the Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
- All the ice and snow melts into an ocean with islands
- Nya builds a big ol’ palace that’s both above and below the water’s surface
- Seabound parallels in terms of architecture (lots of accidental Wojira foreshadowing)
- So. Much. Rage. You anger Nya, you’re done for.
- The staff + her element amplified the ocean’s whispers and she’s kinda merged with the sea but not fully, her memories are a bit scattered
- Was going to take on Vex as an advisor because he convinced her she knew him before her memories got lost/scattered, but then her memories associate him with Krux, and she kicks him onto a lone island
- Her brothers have to face the ocean to get to her. They hate it, but they do it anyway
Empress of Technology / Automated Empress / Overseer / The Technodrome
- Pixal gets to sacrifice herself for Zane
- While the staff doesn’t amplify powers for her, she still gets boosted strength, speed, smarts, etc., her processor running at 300x proficiency
- Is able to get the mech up and running— she DID build it, after all
- Still loses her memories from Vex’s interference, somewhat reverts to S3 Pixal
- Makes the entire realm “efficient” and rapidly revolutionizes technology
- Easily one of the scariest rulers because of how good she is at it
- Took Vex on as an Advisor because of his knowledge of the realm, then fired him once she was done.
“But you— you cannot FIRE me! I am your loyal, most trusted advisor—”
“And you are no longer necessary. There is more important matters to attend to.”
- It’s very difficult to dismantle her empire
Creation Emperor / Second Spinjitzu Master / The Creator
- Aspheera blasts her intended target
- Wu is sent to the Never Realm with the other staff
- The Ninja are devastated because they just lost their Sensei AGAIN just after getting him back
- Wu refuses to use the staff at first but then… well, he starts getting desperate to return. He misses his family. And his essence— creation— could be used to help the people of this realm. So he uses it once or twice, sparingly, to help the villages, to help travellers— and slowly gets more and more addicted. Why does this realm hurt the people in it? If his essence is one of creation, couldn’t he use it to… reform this realm into something more peaceful? More habitable? Remake it in his own image? Correct all the mistakes he’s made, start again, start better—
- FSM and Pilots-S2 Garmadon parallels
- His students manage to get into the Never Realm only to find it “prosperous” and “thriving”
- Bonus if there are copies of them, but the way Wu sees them— uncanny valley alert
- EXTRA bonus if there’s a fake Morro that’s based on how he was as a student / if he’d lived , and a fake Garmadon cured of venom and evil
- Breaking their Sensei out of this illusion of a perfect world really hurts
- Wu is traumatized by all his mistakes and they get acknowledged in this AU whether he wants them to be or not <3

go around
@taznovembercelebration "super au" and "silly"
“Man,” Taako sighs, as quietly as possible. “This is the second time I’ve been a hostage this month.” He’s not tied up this time, at least, but he’s sitting in the back hallway of the bank and regretting his choice of errands today. The guy next to him nods.
“You too, huh?” He’s pretty, and goth, very serious-with-a-side-of-secretly-goofy, and Taako wants to crack him like a nut. Shame they’re busy waiting for the supervillain of the week to either get got or get his private island and fourteen pounds of gummy worms, or fucking whatever. “It’s ridiculous. They need to spend less money on making flashy superheroes and more on just–security, infrastructure, safety, you know, mental health initiatives-”
“Or maybe we need to break down and be supervillains ourselves.” Taako shrugs, with an I’m JOKING I PROMISE…unless? Air about him. He’s sick of it.
“Really?” Handsome asks, laughing a little.
“Really,” Taako says, still kind of joking, but also kind of not joking. “Taako can barely get his errands done when there’s no Captain Backwards Lightning Man in the way, you know? It’s enough to make a guy wanna destroy some well-placed props.”
Handsome laughs.
“You’re Taako, I take it?”
“In the flesh, skele-fellow. You?”
“Kravitz,” Kravitz says, and then, “Probably. If I’m going to be a villain, you don’t know that, and I’ll have to erase your memories, or something.”
“Or we could be a team,” Taako teases. “We could be the only ones who knew each other’s secret identities. You could come over for chicken alfredo, I could go to yours for game night, little bit of blackmail to keep things spicy-”
Kravitz laughs, and covers his mouth, but it must not be too loud, or maybe the gummy worm accords are going sour, because nothing comes of it except an embarrassing amount of affection from Taako.
“I wish I had a power worth doing anything drastic about,” he admits, looking at Taako for comiseration or approval or something else that might lead to romance.
“Yeah? Cha boi’s in the same boat, so keep paddling. Dumber supers have done worse.”
“Really? I mean- about your power, I remember, uh, Pickle Monster.”
“Who could forget.” Taako shakes his head solemnly. “Yeah, no, I can read minds, but only if it’s food related.”
“Seriously?” Kravitz grins. “I love specific powers, but that sort of thing drives me nuts in practice. Like- surely the universe could have been kinder?”
“Would it ever stoop so low?” Taako snorts. “No, seriously, try me.”
“Okay,” Kravitz says, screwing up his nose in the cutest stinking way Taako has ever seen. “What was my dinner last night?”
Taako looks him directly in the eye, feels that weird connection he gets with people sometimes, the sort of way that makes him sweaty and lonely. He steps right into Kravitz’s doorway, looks around his home, wonders if there’s more than meets the eye. Surely. It’s welcoming enough, maybe just because Kravitz is inviting him in, in this moment. Much less of a trespass than it usually is.
He watches the memory unfold, and feels fond over this dork, who looks so business goth put together on the outside.
“You air-fryered tater tot nachos,” Taako says, and Kravitz blinks, surprised, and Taako’s shunted right back out.
“Really? You really got that much?”
“Oh, honey-nugget, I got more than that, I’m just trying to-”
“How much do you get?”
Taako grimaces.
“Pretty much everything, especially if emotions are, uh, involved? You- uh. You poured frozen tater tots in the air fryer, dropped one on your bare foot and started bleeding, went to put a pokemon bandaid on it, and when it beeped for you to turn the food, and you tried to test one, because your timing was off because the package didn’t have air fryer instructions, you dropped it on your other bare foot and burnt it.”
Kravitz’s mouth drops open.
“Sorry?” Taako says, even sweatier. “You opened the door, kemosabe.”
“Right,” Kravitz says, with a conspicuous glance at his shiny boy shoes.
“I wasn’t trying to intrude,”
“No, I, get it, I, could have picked something else.” Kravitz clears his throat and loosens his black-on-black rose patterned tie. “Mine isn’t nearly as interesting.”
“Seriously?” Taako snorts. “Maybe you have an eight foot vertical leap, or your snot is acid.”
“Is acid snot better than mind reading?”
“Dog, everything’s better than mind reading, do you know how fucking loud the world is all the goddamn time?”
“Touché.” Kravitz glances at the noise from the bank lobby, but nothing seems to come of it. He shifts his feet, looking at them again. “I mean, they were good tater tots.”
“Sometimes food that hurts fucks harder.”
“So true?” Kravitz laughs. “I wish I had super healing, or super-not-being-a-dumbass, but, you know,”
“Man, if I was super-not-a-dumbass, I really could take over the world. Watch out, Townsville! Pew pew!”
Kravitz looks at him with some kind of goopy eye disease that could be confused for fondness, if you were stupid, like Taako.
“I just- so, see, I have this knife?”
“Yeah?” Taako looks him over for said knife, which he does not manage to produce. “Taken, was it?”
“Mhm,” Kravitz sighs, glancing at the lobby again. Some loud discussion is going on, between the somebody of police and TToday’s Evil Baddoer. “I can cut these little rifts with it, nothing huge, because it’s just a big fancy pocket knife, but I can store stuff in there, which is kind of neat. One time I climbed through and found myself somewhere else, but it was really difficult, on account of the small blade and all.”
“Yeah?” Taako’s heart pounds. “Seriously? Does it have to be the one knife?”
Kravitz pauses, and then turns to him directly.
“I’ve only done it with the one knife, I guess. And a grapefruit spoon.”
“What if-”
“Oh my god.”
“Hear me out-”
“Oh my god.”
Taako casts about for literally any kind of blade, fucking at all. There’s a letter opener that looks like a sword on the Mortgage Guy’s desk, and Taako checks out Super Badguy in the lobby, and then slowly, painfully, starts sneaking his way toward it. Kravitz chews his fingernails behind him, and truly fourteen thousand ice ages later, Taako returns, and hams up presenting the letter opener to Kravitz.
Kravitz stares at it, and hestiates.
“What’s the worst that could happen?”
“It doesn’t work and you’re mad at me,” Kravitz admits, painfully honest.
“What if it does work?”
“I’d take you out for dinner,” Kravitz admits, fully focused on the silver blade.
“What kind?”
“Any sort of food you’d like?” And Taako steps into his mind one more time, slips in through the door, and finds himself in a nice restaurant across from Kravitz in a cute dark purple button up, slut that he is, one button open, just a hint, just a peek, and they kiss over the dessert, which costs way too much for crème brûlée, but Taako won’t tell him that, no sir.
And he zhoops right back out.
“You have to do it,” he says, a little breathless. Kravitz looks at him, alarmed, and back at the letter opener, whcih he finally takes. He moves it around in the air, getting a feel for it, and then SWIPES–
And a flickering, dark tear in reality appears. Kravitz covers a gasp, Taako doesn’t, and certainly they’ll be spotted soon, but Kravitz tears and rips and hacks into the rip in the universe, and once he gets it big enough, tears at it with his hands, and then gets a knee in there, and there’s a sickening non-sound as it widens ever so slowly, achingly, and Taako watches with deep, embarrassing affection as Kravitz manages to clamber through, looking like an absolute idiot, and turns and reaches an arm out for Taako.
Fucking ROMANCE.
“I’ve, gotta-”
“We’ll go around and help from the other side, Taako,” Kravitz promises. “It’ll just be way easier if I get literally anything sharper.”
“Oh,” Taako says, relieved. And he jumps into Kravitz’s arms, because he has the chance, and it’d be more embarrassing if he didn’t take it.
Any kisses between the jumping and the rescuing are off the record, and also private. So there.

Homestuck Pixie Hollow AU- Get in loser we're kicking cringe's corpse.
Dancestor Time!
Damara- Messenger Talent- Damara was incredibly punctual, clever, and diligent---so hardworking that the Minister of Spring considered her for the position, even though she is not a garden talent. However, after being cheated on and mercilessly bullied, Damara began to shirk her duties. She spends time wandering, and will treat most strangers fairly, but will enact vengeance on those who have wronged her. Damara is no scout, but she can certainly fight.
Rufioh- Fast Flying Talent- Most fast fliers prize their speed. Rufioh prefers to dance through the air and show off with his wind powers. It's made him quite the popular fairy among others, including Damara, who he was in a sweet romance with, until... well, he's supposed to be charming, not honest. He ended up having to fly on the back of a bird as well: a large raven to match Tavros's dove companion. He and Tavros often sneak out to hang with the Lost Boys of Neverland, too. They respect the two of them a lot.
Mituna- Once, Mituna was a tinker fairy who harnessed the human power of electricity. His inventions were magnificent, and he was revered...until one day, while trying to harness lightning itself, the laboratory exploded. Mituna was left burned, shaky, and unable to continue his work. He refuses to speak of what happened, but he's still the best gamer in Pixie Hollow; people have yet to defeat him at most fairy games.
Kankri- Storyteller Talent. For some reason, people rarely want to listen to him. His stories are more moral than narrative, and even those who agree with him find them to be a slog. That doesn't stop him from telling stories to anyone who will or will not listen. This, unfortunately, includes the newbie minister of summer/water talent leader, who he thinks he's regaling with the endless wisdom a new leader needs. Karkat is this close to trapping him in a bubble and floating him off the goddamn island.

Psionics in bionicle is weird. There were classic psychic style abilities all throughout the story, like telepathy, telekinesis, illusions, etc, but those individual powers were either abilities granted by special masks or artifacts, or something that that specific guy could just Do. But then, late into bionicles story, psionics got confirmed as a capital-E Element, and it's. Pretty weird.
Psionics was actually suggested as an element and then canonized in a Word of Greg thread, which were. Things that happened. Regardless, one of the main characters in one of the serials was a toa of psionics! And with him came like actual worldbuilding and lore about his element! Granted it was one of the post-cancellation, unfinished serials, and that new lore was kinda dubious, but still! That's more than most secondary elements got. (Like plasma, my beloved)
But when psionics was declared an element, all those weird one off abilities were reclassified as subpowers or specific applications of psionics, and that gave it a different feel than other elements. The other elements are all very physical; you're generating and controlling fire or water or lightning or noise or whatever. And yeah, a toa of psionics could make a psychic damage beam or whatever, but they have all those other abilities tacked on too. Psionics is also unique in that while other toa can absorb their element from the environment to recharge their powers, psionics can't.
(My personal headcanon is that toa actually can absorb psionic energy, but they don't do that because it would basically lobotomize whatever they absorbed it from. You could do some interesting things with that. A toa who doesn't have qualms about absorbing power, or one who's figured out how to steal memories specifically and absorbs memories about themselves in an antimemetic way.)
Psionics getting canonized basically on a whim created some weird Implications for the story. Namely, why would the great beings make brain boys and not have them live inside the giant robots brain? Remember, the whole point of the matoran is to act as maintenance for the GSR. What exactly to ce-matoran do?
I think focusing on that maintenance aspect would make for an interesting AU or gen 3. Swap out the 6 classic elements for obscure seconday elements better suited for maintaining the giant space faring robot, and change the setting from a series of islands to the inside of the superstructure that is the GSR. Keeping with this more sci-fi theme, ce-matoran live near giant server farms dotted throughout the structure and keep them running. Specially trained matoran can temporarily link themselves to these servers, and divine the future by interpreting the torrent of data flowing through the GSR. That process and the information they glean is dangerous at best for the untrained mind, so turaga fervently guard access to those servers and the secrets within.
Magnetism, plasma, lightning, and iron would fit nicely into this hypothetical au as well. Problem is, I want a nice even 6 elements here, and I don't know what the last one would be. The other canon secondary elements options are plantlife or sonics, neither of which I'm really sold on. Maybe we could pick ice or water from the classic 6 and flavor it as coolant? Hm.
Oh my god wait I forgot about gravity. Ok there you go new set of 6 elements. Plasma, lightning, iron, magnetism, gravity, and psionics... Actually, I'm kind of enamored with that ice/water coolant idea. Maybe nix magnetism, or fold magnetism into iron?
Honestly this post just started as my headcanon about absorbing psionic energy, but now I'm kinda tempted to write like a setting guide for this...

Escape [Fail-Sibling AU]
[Characters belong to @emthimofnight]
Tumblr media
"AFTER HER!"
Stellar bolted down the halls, panting heavily as Eggman's voice echoes down the hallway.
First off... She had three siblings she never KNEW ABOUT?!
Second of all... They broke into her house while she was asleep and kidnapped her? What the hell?!
Third... They're now working for EGGMAN. How, why.
Stellar shook her head, she couldn't worry about that right now. She had to escape... Wherever she was.
She kept running through the hallways, hearing pairs of footsteps gaining up on her. She burst through the first pair of doors, running up to the deck of a flying ship, a storm on the horizon in the distance.
"Stellar. Get back to your cell. The doctor requires your assistance." Void said.
"Nope! I keep saying this, but I'm not working for that jerk!"
"Not THAT kind of assistance. To have you work with us and defeat those faulty hedgehogs." Andromeda said.
"... Did he seriously brainwash you two?" Stellar asked, confused.
"Uh, no?" Polarity said, confused as well. Void promptly smacked him over the back of his head.
"Doesn't matter. You're still not going anywhere." Void said.
"Not if I jump off!"
"And go where? We're surrounded by the ocean! There's no land for thousands of miles!"
"Maybe... But I can swim. No idea if you can, anyway-" Polarity snuck up behind Stellar in a flash.
By instinct, she spun around and kicked him in the head, knocking him to the ground. Void grabbed her and threw her towards Andromeda. Stellar swiftly curled up into a ball and bounced over her, landing safely on the ground.
She breathed, standing back up and readying her fists.
Andromeda leapt back to her and threw a punch, with Void swiftly aiming to strike her down with some chaos spears.
A huge boom of thunder and gust of wind knocked everyone down. Stellar immediately got up, trying to run. Andromeda grabbed her ankle, yanking her back down to the ground.
She growled, kicking her off and scrambling back to her feet. Polarity tackled her back down as Void readied his chaos spears. Stellar spin kicked herself free, knocking the two boys down and running to the edge of the ship.
Lightning struck down in front of her, causing her to stumble back. She slipped and fell from the rain making the floor slippery.
"You're not getting away!" Polarity lunged towards her, about to reach Stellar before she moved out of the way.
The ship tipped towards the right as it made a rather sharp turn. Void dug a chaos spear into the ground as Andromeda grabbed onto the wall.
But Stellar and Polarity fell straight off, crashing onto an island below them.
The two immediately blacked out right after upon impact.
"DOCTOR! SHE GOT AWAY!" Void yelled.
"And Polarity fell off too!" Andromeda said.
"Who cares about our weak link? We NEED Stellar!"
"No! We need Polarity!"
"Shut it. You work under me, remember?"
"Void. Both of them are important but we need Polarity first."
"Don't care."
"Both of you be quiet. We're turning back and we'll wait out the storm until we can retrieve them. Got that?" Eggman snapped over the intercom.
"... Yes, Doctor."
"Good. Finishing our turn now."

past and present
Title: past and present Author: Shiro (TeitoxAkashi [AO3]/ seijuurouxryuu [tumblr]) Rating: Gen Pairing: Giotto & Tsuna Event: @khrrarepairweek Prompts: Monster Hunter AU | Ghosts Tags/Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Day 1: Storm Day
The thunder was loud, booming and deafening in the background. It was calming, it was unnerving. Because it was on these days that Tsuna could see the shadows of the past, the shadows of the dead.
AO3
The thunder was loud, booming and deafening in the background. It was calming, it was unnerving. Because it was on these days that Tsuna could see the shadows of the past, the shadows of the dead.
“Giotto-san…” He frowned at his ancestor, blurry frame solidifying with the lightning’s shine. Akin to charged light bulb. Something something about how the positive and negative ions become disarray during a thunderstorm.
The dead was hovering by the window, staring out silently. At Tsuna’s call, he looked back and blinked. In a way that reminded Tsuna of a lizard. Again, unnerving.
“Yes, child?”
The almost thirty-four-year-old man twitched at the ‘endearment’. He decided to ignore it seeing how ancient Giotto was and instead asked, “Are you alright?”
Giotto blinked again.
“Why wouldn’t I be?”
“Well, you… You look,” Tsuna paused, thinking of a word to describe the ex-mafia boss. “Burnout.” Tired. Lost. Dead. Figuratively and literally.
Giotto smiled. “I am, aren’t I?” He murmured and look out of the window again. It was a foreign yet familiar sight to see—it was after all the town he vowed to protect forever, the town he grew up and bleed for. It was the island that chained his very soul to, to be forgotten by all but his descendants and the dark side they chose to join.
He was persistent, he was filled with fire and will to fight for them. He was young, then, like the only child who could see him and hear him. He was more willful too. But he was older soon and the fire slowly was doused with tears and blood, burning slower and quieter. His bones grew colder at the harsh reality he had faced and soon, he could no longer burn the will.
Ricardo—his brother who rage brighter than he burned with hope—took his continued dimming as the ending of legality and brought them into the world of darkness. He then reigned Vongola with growing glory, burning brighter and stronger than Giotto, bringing Vongola its peak.
And the part the fully douse Giotto’s flame was how Ricardo protected their home better than Giotto despite drowning the walls with more blood of their enemies.
Giotto decided to leave the limelight and take Alaude and Asari’s hands to move to the land of rising sun to warm his bones and blood once more.
Sawada Ieyasu was the name Asari gave—peaceful family. A representative—a reminder—of Giotto’s vows. A reassurance that Giotto had brought peace to his family—them.
And it was a name that he never really believed that it suited him despite what they said.
“How are you doing?” He asked instead, returning Tsuna the question. Tsuna shrugged as he walked closer, leaning against the wall as he weakly laughed at himself.
“As well as I can ever be.” He sighed. “I’m just tired of dealing with all the chaos that Xanxus and Reborn caused. I just want to sleep…”
Giotto smiled, understanding the feeling because he had his fair share of continuously trying to reign in Ricardo and Lampo from whatever fights or chaos they were up to. It wasn’t fun, but he wouldn’t have them any other way. Even if it almost always ended up with him bedridden in exhaustion. Even then, it was probably the most fun he had.
Now that he thought about it, he had the time of his life whenever he was with his family, be it good or bad. And even if he had gone back to that time, he wouldn’t want to change anything except for the incidents involving Cozarto and Elena.
Ahh, how he missed the carefree times he was with his family.
Looking at how Tsuna was, he was sure that the young boy felt the same. Only, he would burn brighter. More so than how Giotto once did. He would fight for his family, and more importantly, he would fight for himself. He would survive better than Giotto.
And Giotto want that to happen.
He smiled and leaned back; His frame more relaxed. “Could you tell me about them? Your family.”
Tsuna blinked and grinned. “Yes. In return, tell me about yours!”

Notes:
Honestly I churned this out in an hour or so time, and separately in another day for the ending. I had three drafts for the ending but none seemed to fit so,,, I could only do like this. The plunny for this died halfway and I can't remember what I planned so rip. But still!!! First day of RPW!! I'm late but yay!! :DD Just them bonding honestly. I think that Giotto would linger around Vongola mansion, hovering here and there to reminisce his past by himself. The rest of the primo gen are probably somewhere chillin but Giotto was haunted by his own past i think. Daemon too. Both of them are just. Suffering. I didn't write Daemon because I think whatever he does, he wants it private while Giotto? Giotto doesn't care who sees him. He just stuck in the abyss [vtuber joke] Anywaysssssss,,,, I'm late by so many days so im gonna go ahead and post the other days one first CIAO [I apologize for any grammar, spellings, etc. etc. mistakes]

Incurable Homesickness
AU: Marin wished the world of BOTW into existence
A fox appeared to a woman in a dream.
I am a spirit of the magic that resides within this land, they told her. An echo of things that were, that are, and that could be.
You must go to the mountain where the lights of the night come from the earth instead of the sky. Climb to the praying peak to the pond that holds an ever-blossoming tree.
The woman held everything and nothing close for she could fit her whole world in her dream-hands even though they stayed empty. What about my son? What about our lives? We have a home, here. We have a future.
Black eyes looked up at her and the edges of the fox’s body swirled away into soft, crimson smoke. It was whisked away by darkness and the faint, kind melody of an ocarina. Trees passed by in her mind’s eye; tall ones with broad, sliced leaves and ones with heavy branches baring round, red apples. They were swallowed up by the sea, by a storm, by a crack of lightning and the massive shadow of a beast she couldn’t see.
The woman woke to the cry of a seagull and clutched her blanket to her chest. The wind howled against the stone walls, battering at the wooden shutters and the frame of the door. Rain pattered against the roof and she could feel the humidity sticking to her shoulders and neck even as she wound her long, red hair into a bun.
Beside her—curled up on a bedroll of reeds and feather down—a boy slept through the rumbling thunder.
oOo
It did not rain the day they left their home behind. The woman managed to gather enough rupees by selling herbs and insects and uncut gems scavenged from the cliffs to get enough funds for a single, old horse. A few people stopped by—but only a few. She was on the outskirts of the village, a stranger to most and an outsider to even more with her long, red hair and freckled, pale skin.
With a small goodbye to their neighbours, they were off on an adventure; the woman, her boy, and their horse.
oOo
A campfire crackled beneath the moon, sparks rising from the wood to become small, glimmering stars before they vanished into nothing. Sitting beside it was a young woman who was on her way to find answers to questions she didn’t know she had. In her lap was a small boy. He had been wrapped in various blankets to keep him warm in the stray night chill and keep his arms pinned at his sides. It didn’t seem necessary as he sat still without complaint, letting deft fingers braid wildflowers into his almost-gold blonde hair. Together, the boy and his mother hummed a song that had been lost to the ocean’s waves; one of shipwrecks and storms, of dreams and wishes.
Wandering through the trees, their horse snorted and pawed at the ground. Rain had left the dirt soft and there were tracks from beasts peppering the woodland trails.
“Mama?” The boy leaned his head back to look up at the woman. Petals drifted from his makeshift crown with the movement: one even slid down his nose, fluttering on his breath.
“Yes, Link?”
He curled against her. Various birds cawed in the trees as insects buzzed and sang in the underbrush. “Can you tell me a story?”
“A story?” She tapped a finger against her chin and tilted her eyes to the sky, pretending to be in deep thought. Stars winked between the leaves, watching them with billion-year amusement. “It’s very late,” Her voice was soft. “And you told me you were so tired that you couldn’t move another muscle.”
“But I won’t be moving, Mama,” Link grinned at her with a small, impish smile that made the corners of his eyes squint and his nose crinkle. “You’d be the one telling the story!”
The woman laughed in surprised delight, and pressed a kiss to his forehead. “I suppose that’s true,” she said and wrapped her arms around his little torso, holding him close to her chest. “What type of story would you like to hear?”
Link leaned up, lowering his voice to a whisper-that-wasn’t. “The one about the seagull and the island,” he said, eyes wide and reflecting the amber of the fire. “Please?”
“Again?” His mother gasped, ruffling his hair and sending petals flying everywhere. He giggled, unable to squirm away from her hold as they toppled backward onto their bedroll. “I suppose I could tell it again.” One hand ran down the boy’s back, counting his breaths as he wiggled closer, pressing against her ribs as if he could curl up next to her heart.
Silver moonlight dripped through the leaves, trickling down the jagged, arching trunks of durian and palm trees. The sounds of the night filled the shadows and stone, creating a music that sung of heat and lightning and rain. The fire continued on as the horse snorted and settled.
“Once upon a time,” the woman said, her voice drifting between shifting plants and night birdsong, “There was an island, a boy, and a seagull...”

If you were on the bachelorette what hockey boys would you want to be able to date and choose from? And who do you give your final rose to?
Hey Nonnie! This question has to be the most fun question I have ever received in my ask box. I have put too much thought into my list and the reasons why certain players would not be the recipient of my rose from night one to the final rose. So buckle up dashboard, you’re about to watch an entire season of my Bachelorette season in one post. Disclosure: I have not watched the Bachelor/Bachelorette in a very very long time. This is based on faded memories and quick google searches.
Meet the Contestants
Ross Colton - of Robinsville, NJ. Currently bottom six forward of the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Anthony Cirelli - of Etobicoke, Ontario. Currently top six forward of the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Brayden Point - of Calgary, Alberta. Currently top six forward of the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Andrei Svechnikov - of Barnaul, Russia. Currently tops six forward of the Carolina Hurricanes.
Vince Dunn - Lindsay, Ontario. Currently one half of the top defensive pair of the Seattle Kraken.
Adam Lowry - of Calgary, Alberta (I know he was born in St Louis but he was raised in Calgary, Okay?). Currently Botton six forward of the Winnipeg Jets (and hopefully the future captain).
Timo Meir - of Herisau, Switzerland. Currently top six forward of the New Jersey Devils.
Matt Martin - of Winsdor, Ontario. Currently bottom six forward of the New York Islanders.
Anthony Beauvillier - of Sorel-Tracy, Quebec. Currently top six forward of the Vancouver Canucks.
Mat Barzal - of Coquitlam, British Columbia. Currently top six forward of the New York Islanders.
Tom Wilson - of Toronto, Ontario. Currently top six forward of the Washington Capitals.
Matthew Tkachuk - of Scottsdale, Arizona (this man has lived in so many cities because of his dad). Currently top six forward of the Florida Panthers.
Jeremy Swayman - of Anchorage, Alaska. Currently the backup goaltender of the Boston Bruins.
Pierre Luc Dubois - of Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, Quebec. Currently, desperately, trying to get traded from the Winnipeg Jets to the Montreal Canadiens.
Nico Hischier - of Naters, Switzerland. Currently top six forward, and Captain of the New Jersey Devils.
Brady Skjei - of Lakeville Minnesota. Currently a defenceman of the Carolina Hurricanes.
Pat Maroon - of St Louis, Missouri. Currently bottom six forward of the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Chris Kreider - of Boxford, Massachussetts. Currently top six forward of the New York Rangers.
Pytor Kotchetkov - of Penza, Russia. Currently the goaltender of the Chicago Wolves (AHL) and a backup goaltender for the Carolina Hurricanes.
William Nylander - of Calgary, Alberta. Currently top six forward of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Leon Draisaitl - of Cologne, Germany. Currently top six forward of the Edmonton Oilers.
Luke Schenn - of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Currently one half of the top defensive pair of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Josh Anderson - of Burlington, Ontario. Currently top six forward for the Montreal Canadiens.
Auston Matthews - of Scottsdale, Arizona. Currently top six forward of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Brendan Lemieux - of Denver, Colorado. Currently button six forward of the Philadelphia Flyers.
The First Night
At the end of the first night, the 25 contestants would become 15, with 10 NHL hotties failing to receive my affection in the form of a rose:
Timo Meir - we know his reputation. This man is a womanizer, and it’s clear when he tried to go in for a kiss during our first conversation. But we’re here for love. For commitment. So he had to go.
Pierre-Luc Dubois - speaking of commitment. This man doesn’t know the definition of that. He can’t commit to a team, he can’t commit to me. Au revoir.
Leon Draisaitl - this man is so intimidating to me. I wouldn’t have the confidence to pursue anything of any nature.
Pat Maroon - his energy would be too much for me. Confident, successful, and ready to party. I wouldn’t be able to keep up.
Luke Scheen - is a sweet guy, but wouldn’t do much to set himself apart from the rest.
Josh Anderson - would have flashed his abs at least once during the night - and I would have noticed but it wouldn't be enough to set him apart from the rest of the guys who go the extra mile to set themselves apart.
Nico Hischier - a sweet guy. Very gentlemanly. But he’s a little young for me so he doesn’t receive a rose.
Auston Matthews - Auston would come in so confident he would come off as cocky. Would brag about his friendship with Justin Beiber and would come dressed in an expensive sweatsuit instead of a suit like the other contestant. Would not be a vibe.
Brendan Lemieux - during the first night. Brendan Lemieux and Matthew Tkachuk got into a physical altercation regarding the biting incident with Brady Tkachuk. Production wanted to kick them both off the show, but instead, they were allowed to stay until the end of the night where Tkachuk was the only one of the two to receive the rose.
Pytor Kochetkov - my sweet sweet Pytor. He would have needed Svechnikov to translate for him all night. So kind and sweet, but the language barrier was strong and Svechnikov would have needed to be a constant third wheel to make it work - plus he’s kind I can’t decide if he is baby brother vibes or not. He would not receive the final rose of the evening.
Season Highlights
Andrei Svechnikov secured the first kiss on the first night with his charm, maturity and his kindness in helping Pytor through the night when he could have been selfish
Andrei also received the first rose of the season before the first rose ceremony was held
Vince Dunn would be a quick fan favorite but not without controversy - there would be a call to action from fans that wanted him to be sent home but he would remain on the show after making a public apology at the rose ceremony
Anthony Beauvillier and Mat Barzal would go on a 2 on 1 date with me, some kind of outdoorsy thing with paddleboarding and it would have been a great time BUT they would both go home that same night after Beauvillier refuses the rose on the date. Their friendship ultimately gets in the way of their pursuit of love
Ross Colton would fail to receive a rose after a group date that involved an extensive hike in the wilderness
Tkachuk would continue to be an instigator for the season starting conflicts and pushing the buttons of other contenders. It would lead to Tom Wilson and Matt Martin not receiving roses but he would be the one not to receive a rose when a conflict with Lowry would arise. Lowry would receive the final rose that night, sending Tkachuk home.
Chris Kreider would try to propose midseason and his eagerness and willingness to commit so early would be a red flag, he would not receive a rose at the following ceremony
After regret and complications, Ross Colton would be welcomed back onto the show as I would feel like failing to give him a rose was a mistake
With the welcoming back of Ross to the show, William Nylander would be sent home as a result
On a 1 on 1 date with Brady Skeji things would look to become more intimate than it actually was and viewers would be shocked when he would not receive a rose later than night
During what would be the rose ceremony that would bring it down to the final 4 it is revealed that it would be a final 5 with only 7 contenders remaining: Ross Colton, Anthony Cirelli, Adam Lowry, Andrei Svechnikov, Brayden Point, Jeremy Swayman and Vince Dunn
Viewers would be shocked when Anthony Cirelli would receive the final rose before the final four over Brayden Point who had been a front-runner for your heart since night one
The Final Five
Usually the final four, but would be changed last minute as I struggled to make the decision, it would be time to travel and meet the families of the final 5 contestants.
Ross Colton - the trip would take me to New Jersey where I would meet his parents and his brother Rob. They would be welcoming, and kind, but it would be very clear how many worlds apart we are and it would plant some insecurities of just how well I would be able to fit into their lifestyle and expectations.
Anthony Cirelli - back in Canada, I would meet his family, and very importantly Grandma Cirelli who is known for her tomato sauce. We would cook a meal together in their family kitchen - and she would approve of my cooking.
Vince Dunn - A mere hour away from where we visited Tony’s family, I would meet Dunn’s. It’s a smaller city and feels familiar to what I’ve grown up in BUT everyone seems to know him there. It’s weird being there with a local celebrity because there is no just blending into a big city here. His family would be as kind and welcoming as the others, and I’d get to see more of his emotional side that we would have seen glimmer off throughout the season.
Adam Lowry - in Calgary we would meet his family, a very strong hockey family, with his dad having played and coached and his brother having played as well. It’s their lives, and will always be a part of it. We would see just how good he is with his nieces and nephews and go to see the mountains in Banff.
Andrei Svechnikov - the final trip would take me to Russia where I would meet his parents, his brother and his brother’s family. It would be a breathtaking trip, one like any other seen on the show but it would be conflicting as his mother would show her concerns. I would not be what his mother imagined for her sweet boy, and her approval is very important to him. And the larger age gap would be revisited.
After the trips, it would come to the rose ceremony that would bring the final 5 down to the final two. That night, Andrei would fail to receive a rose, the age gap and the pressure of his mother being too much. Ross, while an obvious favourite for the majority of the season would not receive a rose, the high maintenance feel of his family too much and too intimidating to commit to at that moment - and the goodbye is one not without tears. The viewers would be shocked again when Tony would receive the final rose, sending Lowry back to the off-season. His familiar pressure of their legacy all too much even though seeing him with his nephews would given me absolute baby fever.
Then only two remained: Anthony Cirelli and Vince Dunn.
The Final Rose
The final rose would be one of great controversy with lots of viewers seeming to think I was making a mistake moving forward with my final two. That I had greater chemistry with other players that I had sent walking and that whoever I chose would be a decision made in regret. But I was left to make the choice between the two final contenders. Anthony Cirelli. The sweet, respectable boy from Vaughn. Who maybe wasn’t as traditionally handsome as the other contestants - but I’m a sucker for those curls. Who loves Kygo and partying in Miami but will always value his family and their traditions above all else.
And then there was Vince. The mildly problematic, handsome man - who also has those oh-so-dangerous curls and those bright eyes. He can be wild, but also sweet - and always so intense with emotions that you can see so clearly written across his face. A man who can enjoy the outdoors as much as a night at the club.
And while Tony and Ross both very clearly have a piece of my heart I need a man who is going to be able to go out there and enjoy nature with me. Someone who won’t care that I don’t spend an hour in front of the mirror to do my hair and my makeup every day. Someone who will love my cooking, and isn’t afraid of his emotions or to have tough conversations.
And for those reasons, I would have to give my final rose to… Vince.

Do I Have OCs For My Half-Demon! Tanjiro AU? You Bet!
Unfortunately I don’t have many drawings of them so I’ll have to describe them. (I’m sorry I’m terrible at drawing!)
Kerido (A Friendly Demon)
Art done by @kurumi-igarashi
Tumblr media
Kerido is the definition of a sunshine character. He’s incredibly happy and optimistic despite being a demon.
He has the traits of a manticore (that also applies to his Blood Demon Art). Kerido has the dark purple tail of a scorpion, the black and purple wings of a dragon, and the paws of a lion. Kerido also has long, black, wild hair and black eyes with blue pupils (kinda like Kaigaku). He has a pretty muscular body, but he has a soft belly. Kerido’s most notable feature is the right side of his face. The left side looks normal and pretty, but the right side is heavily scarred. It looks like someone took a cheese grader to his face. He ended up getting that scar in a carriage accident when he was a human child. He’s really insecure about it since it grosses people out when he’s eating or drinking. Kerido usually wears a black kimono with purple lightning and black pants.
Now for his role in the story! Kerido is actually Gyutaro’s boyfriend! Gyu accidentally found him one night in the forest. Kerido was just minding his business and humming. Originally, Gyutaro couldn’t believe that someone could be so happy despite going through so much, but he quickly warmed up to him. Kerido’s happiness is contagious
Kerido ended up flying across Tokyo with Gyutaro on his back. He’s got a massive wingspan, so it was easy. Gyutaro was instantly charmed by the manticore demon.
And well..they just hit it off from there! They’re pretty much the body positivity couple. Kerido makes Gyutaro feel better about himself and his body while Gyutaro makes Kerido feel better about his scar and belly.
Kerido constantly encourages everyone around him. He just can’t help it! However, when it comes to sexual things, Kerido can be really dense. It’s just one of the faults of having a sunshine boyfriend. Zenitsu has the same problem with Tanjiro.
Strifles (The Child Demon)
My baby boy, Strifles is a little child demon. He used to live with his abusive older brother before he was rescued by Tanjiro, Daki and Gyutaro.
Strifles is a hybrid of a demon and a humanoid (more on them later). He has short, messy, black hair and the same eyes as Kerido. He also has cat like paws and a black and blue cat tail. He usually wears an oversized navy blue kimono and black pants.
Strifles also has an undead Maine Coon cat named Nibbles. He was able to summon the kitty using his Blood Demon Art. His older brother has it too, but on a much stronger level. Remember my Gyutaro fic, The Friendly Beast? Well Strifles’s older brother is the jaguar demon!
Basically, Strifles bumped into Daki and Gyutaro and begged them to save him from his brother. They were confused at first until they saw the his older brother was trying to eat him! They had to fight a whole army of undead jaguars, summoned by his older brother, but they couldn’t do it alone.
Tanjiro, Kokushibo, Douma, and Inosuke showed up to help. They also became overwhelmed by the jaguars (and my third OC), but Tanjiro ended getting so pissed off by the abuse that Strifles was going through that he burned all the jaguars and the older brother with his sun breathing
Strifles now lives with the other demons. He very shy and quiet, but he very sweet and always tries to help. He’s best friends with Rui and he’s pretty much glued to Gyutaro’s side. He also loves being around Kokushibo and Daki, but he’s scared of Douma and Enmu.
Jackyll (The Villain)
This piece was done by @shycroissanti
Tumblr media
Jackyll is a ram humanoid demon. Basically, humanoids are anthropomorphic animals that were persecuted by humans because they were believed to be demons. However, only a few of them actually are. Now they live on a secluded island where they have rebuilt their civilization. The doesn’t mean that they’re safe, though.
Humanoids have demons too and Jackyll is the most powerful one. Humanoid demons only eat humanoids, not humans, and they’ve actually have been around before Muzan became a demon. However, they couldn’t become more powerful due to humans discriminating humanoids and due to a very powerful humanoid slayer!
Jackyll has the strength of Kokushibo and he’s incredibly power hungry. He has black fur with blue, purple and green striped horns and hooves. He can create dangerous shockwaves that can knock a person back. He also hits incredibly hard with his hooves and horns. He also has an “X” shaped scar on his snout that Muzan left on him.
He was there at the battle of the jaguar demon. He was hoping to use Strifles as an eternal food source, but Inosuke and Douma fought him off. (Douma almost died though.) Then Tanjiro, the demons, and the Hashiras learned all about the humanoids from Tamayo.
Jackyll isn’t finished yet. He teams up with Gyokko so he could steal Muzan’s blood. They end up finding some in Muzan’s abandoned lab, but Jackyll drinks all of it and devours Gyokko. Jackyll grows six tentacles on his back that have blades at the tips. He is also a lot more powerful than before.
He then proceeds to make his way to the Infinity Castle. All the demons try their best to stop him, but almost all of them nearly die (Gyutaro almost gets ripped in half and Douma’s face was shredded).
He was about to kill Akaza and Kokushibo when Tanjiro rushes in front of them and takes the hit. Tanjiro then fights off the ram. He’s just as fast and powerful, but his duty to protect his own fuels him to take the ram down. Tanjiro ends to defeating Jackyll by cutting off one of his horns.

In All-Stars (AS), he returned as a camper for the final time and was part of team Heroic Hamsters.
《< -------- >》
Appearance & Personality
Jay is a short, blond-haired boy that looks more feminine than his fellow male campers. As revealed in Truth or Laser Shark, he is transgender and has not yet transitioned, using clothing and small amounts of makeup to alter his appearance. He also speaks in a much lower tone than their natural one to hide that they are transgender from the other campers.
Jay typically wears a dark baggy zip-up jacket whose sleeves cover almost the entirety of his hands, short light-grey jorts that reach to his knees, darker grey socks that almost reach to his knees, and blue and white sneakers. For his sleepwear, Jay wears a light blue-grey t-shirt with a band logo and two lightning bolts in white on it, a darker purple-grey pair of shorts with his left leg rolled up slightly, and light-grey socks with the same blue-grey as their shirt on the toes and heels of the socks with two thin stripes near the hem at almost the same length as the socks of the usual outfit. His swimwear is currently a WIP. After Mike's elimination in Grand Chef Auto, Jay wears the pair of light blue glasses frames that Mike made and gifted to him in the episode before he was hurled. The light blue glasses become a permanent part of their main outfit by the next episode.
Jay is a meek but kind-hearted individual that tries not to stick out in a crowd. He seems to have a bit of knowledge on almost everything, claiming his enjoyment of surfing the internet a lot as the reason why. He tends to lose his focus quite often, even during challenges, wandering off into daydreams and thinking too far ahead of what he's currently doing, causing him to miss what is happening in the present. Jay's personality seems to take a turn whenever his sister, Skylar, is present however. He is much more outgoing and confident, even being competitive in challenges when pit against his sister, as seen in Ice Ice Baby.

The Batch Family: The Sick Day
Part of my Bad Batch AU: "The Batch Family" [Collection Masterlist].
Word count: 2.4k | Batch ages: Child (11 y/o)
Tumblr media
The Sick Day | Wrecker comes down with a cold, and one by one, the others follow
Beth liked to think she had this parenting thing down pat now. There was barely anything that phased her anymore. Sure, her days were unpredictable and busy and sometimes messy. But she still looked forward to waking up each morning to see what would happen. And she knew she could handle it.
But there was one thing she did dread, that made her seriously consider running away and never looking back.
Sick days.
She almost had a super power for detecting a sniffle that was more than just allergies. The hairs would stand up on the back of her neck, and she'd zero in across the entire house to the boy responsible, and with lightning speed she'd sweep him up and isolate him in her room with whatever medicine was appropriate. But no matter how fast she attacked, the rest of the boys would inevitably follow down into the sad illness stupor. And then finally it would overtake her, requiring a visit from her own mother to come and soothe the sickness away.
This winter season, Wrecker was the first.
The five were playing outside, as best they could in their many layers of jackets, scarves, and hats she'd insisted they wear. They waddled about on the dead grass almost comically as they tried to use their limited movement to enact some sort of pirate scene. Beth was perched on a chair next to the window, fiddling with a knitting project in her lap that seemed to be perpetually half-finished every year (though this would be the year she'd finally finish it, of course), and glancing nervously outside at the incoming rainclouds that littered the sky.
Her greatest worry was about the rain, expected to be quite heavy and lengthy this season. She wasn't sure she could handle another winter full of cooped-up energy from the boys, nor the mud that would inevitably be tracked in every day. She was already formulating plans of only allowing them to enter from the garage, perhaps keeping a box of towels and clothes out there for them to change into before coming fully inside....
But all thoughts of the rain snapped away as soon as she heard the cough.
Knitting needles were abandoned. Before she could even process where her feet where taking her, she was outside breaking up that pirate fight, slinging an arm around her biggest son.
"Hey!" Wrecker protested, mainly from confusion. Another little cough squeaked out. It was gravely, raspy. Much more than a little tickle in the throat. She would need to act fast.
"Inside," Beth stated, nodding at the others to file toward the house with her. "Playtime's over."
"But we were just about to maroon Blackbeard on the island!" Wrecker whined, with a chorus of supportive protests from the others.
"Inside! And don't touch each other... or your faces... or anything. I want you all washing your hands right away."
She was practically dragging Wrecker, unable to lift him as she once could when he was younger and smaller. Thankfully his feet were following along, even though his words said otherwise.
"Mooom, noooo, it's not faaaaair!"
Another cough.
"Cover your mouth, baby. I don't want anyone else getting sick...."
Even as she said it, she knew there was no hope. If one of them had caught something, then they'd all been exposed by now. Now it was only a matter of managing symptoms, boosting immune systems as best as possible, praying whatever it was would be mild or quick.
"Wait, I'm sick?"
Wrecker stopped protesting and let Beth guide him into her room. He put a hand up on his forehead and fingers along his neck pulse. The other boys were piling in at the opposite end of the hall, kicking off boots and still carrying on with whatever pirate-related debate they'd been trying to settle from earlier. Before Beth closed her bedroom door, she whistled for their attention.
"Here's the plan. Echo, you--"
"It's Captain Hook," the five of them said in almost perfect unison, including Wrecker beside her.
Beth swallowed an annoyed sigh. Maybe she could use their imaginations to her advantage. "Captain Hook... You and your pirate friends have been exposed to... uh, the Black Plague."
Was that historically accurate to the time of pirates? She wasn't sure, and Tech didn't correct her, so the detail was good enough.
"They're not all my friends," said Echo. He motioned to Hunter. "Blackbeard tried to betray me."
"It's called myoo-tin-eeeer," said Hunter proudly, looking to Tech briefly to confirm that was the right word to use.
"Whatever. Listen. The Black Plague is killing off crews from all the different pirate ships. You have to protect yourselves quickly or you'll be next. Understood?"
They nodded their heads.
"Okay. So, Captain Hook, I need you to wash your hands in the kitchen sink with warm water and lots of soap. Sing that yo-ho pirate song at least two times. When you're done, go to the couch and stay there until further instruction. And then Tech..."
"Smee," they harmonized.
"...Smee, then it'll be your turn. Kitchen sink. Warm water, lots of soap, pirate song twice. Sit in the dining room until I come back."
"What about me and Old Wooden Leg?" Hunter slung an arm around Crosshair, who immediately recoiled and balled up his fists.
"I told you, that's a dumb name and I'm not using it!"
"Stop touching each other!" Beth called after them, but the arguments were already ramping up faster than she could quell them. Wrecker somehow squeezed past her back into the hallway.
"It's better than mine, Poopdeck Pete!"
Echo and Hunter joined in his snickers over the silly name.
"I told you," Crosshair didn't pay them attention. "I'm Davy Jones."
"You can't be Davy Jones," Tech tried explaining. "He's dead. That's why he has a locker in the ocean. It's where all the dead people go."
Beth stormed down the hall, grabbing whatever boy she could reach first and starting to pull them into different directions so they were at least several feet apart. She shushed them as she did, so eventually the bickering petered out.
"Listen," she emphasized as best she could, turning in a circle to look each in the eye as she spoke. "I'm trying to stop you all from spreading germs here. Remember the last time you were sick? Not fun, right?"
They all shook their heads. Wrecker fittingly coughed again.
"Okay. So we're going to make sure it's not that bad again. Captain Hook: wash in the kitchen, sit in the living room. Smee: wash in the kitchen, sit in the dining room. Uh, Blackbeard?"
Hunter raised his hand.
"Bathroom, then your bedroom. Davy Jones: bathroom, then Wrecker and Tech's room."
Crosshair started to whine. "But their room is so dirty...."
"I'll clean it later, just stay put. Wash really good, don't touch anything else. And if anyone else starts coughing, cover your mouths for goodness sake."
"What about me?" Wrecker grinned at her.
"Poopdeck Pete, you're coming with me."
* * *
She'd really need to institute some sort of fire-drill system with these boys, Beth thought as she furiously scrubbed at Wrecker's body in the tub. He made many noises in complaint - shrieks, whimpers, giggles for the ticklish spots, and of course, lots of coughing - but Beth hardly noticed. In her head, she was already mapping out a few plans that she could get them all to memorize for future situations. A plan for sick days, a plan if one of them got injured and needed to go to the hospital, a plan for actual fires.... She could come up with cool codenames, so as soon as she said it, they would all know exactly where they should go and what to do. No more wasted time in hallways trying to crowd control.
"Ow! Moooom!" Wrecker let out a particularly loud screech as Beth tried getting the sponge into the grooves of his ear. She finally snapped out of her reverie.
"Sorry baby." She let the sponge fall into the soapy water, which was looking a bit murky now, giving her satisfaction that she hadn't been overreacting at his need for a good scrub. "Here, I'll let you finish, okay? Wash your legs and feet, then you can rinse off. I'll get some clean clothes and check on the others real quick."
She was really quick. It's like her body was moving on auto-pilot, handling as many things at once before going back to her room. Time was the enemy and she was not going to let it win. Turning on the heater, of which she was usually so conservative in using, while running down the hall. Throwing an armful of clean pajamas into the laundry room dryer to get them nice and toasty. Checking to make sure the other four boys had followed her instructions for their hand-washing and room assignments. Breaking into her Costco reserve of tissues, ensuring there was a box in each room. Digging out the spare air mattress for Tech to use in the dining room. Even getting some broth into a big pot to start cooking on the stove. Within the time it took Wrecker to finish his scrub and get out of the tub, Beth had returned with all the important tasks completed.
"This towel is really soft," said Wrecker. He snuggled into the folds of the fluffy white bath towel as he dried off. Beth chuckled as she set his pajamas on the counter, fresh from the dryer.
"Would you rather have that one instead of the Hulk?" she teased, referring to an inside joke they now had, based on what Beth dubbed as The Great Beach Towel Fiasco of Christmas '22.
Wrecker tried to laugh but ended up coughing instead. "Momma, am I really getting sick?"
"Afraid so," she said as she she helped him into his warm clothes. "Don't worry, we'll make sure it's not too bad this time."
"Does this mean I get to sleep in here with you?"
Beth nodded and his face instantly lit up.
"Can we watch a movie?"
"Sure. What should we watch?"
While Wrecker mulled it over, Beth was already counting through various devices in her head, to see if she'd have enough for the other boys to be able to watch something, too. Being split up into different rooms would surely cause some shenanigans if she didn't get ahead of it with enough activities.
"The Avengers!" Wrecker finally exclaimed before falling into another fit of coughs.
"Shh, baby, take it easy." Beth pulled him to her and rubbed a soothing hand over his back until the coughs subsided. "You sure you want to watch superheroes? Not pirates?"
"Yeah. The pirate game was lame. Tech just talked the whole time and Hunter didn't let me have a cannon."
Beth guided him over to her bed and got him settled in under the blankets. She briefly thought back to when they'd first moved into this house, how difficult it had been to get them to sleep in their own rooms for the first time. Many a night she'd been awoken to a boy or two sneaking in to snuggle next to her. It was sweet at first, but soon she desperately needed her alone time and had to make a hard and fast rule. Momma's room: off limits.
Unless someone was sick, of course.

It was late, probably close to midnight. Wrecker was nestled against her side, his eyelids heavy but still clinging on to consciousness as the end of their now third movie played out. He was warm, but the thermometer kept spitting out a normal reading, so it was likely just their combined heat from snuggling under so many blankets. So far he'd only complained of a cough and headache.
She'd gotten the others tucked into their respective places a few hours prior. Echo on the couch. Tech on the air mattress with a blanket fort he'd insisted on building around it. Crosshair in his own bed while Hunter had volunteered to take the other bedroom instead. They'd all been fed a some chicken noodle soup and orange juice. Vitamins had been passed around and a combination of air purifiers and humidifiers set up in the rooms. If she was lucky, Beth wouldn't have to deal with any severe symptoms from them and could just help Wrecker's cold pass.
But no sooner did she have that very thought than her bedroom door cracked open to reveal a not-so-good looking Tech peeking through.
"Mom," he whispered. "My throat hurts."
She wanted to sink into the mattress, so deep that she could never be found. Maybe if she hid long enough, it would all blow over and she wouldn't have to deal with any of it.
"I'll be there in a minute, dear. Just lay back down."
She made to get out of bed but Wrecker clung to her.
"Don't leave me...."
"Wreck, I've got to help your brother real quick."
Tech did not end up leaving, but instead came further into the room with little whines as he held his throat. Echo was behind him.
"Tech, Mom said we had to stay in our rooms."
The door was wide open now. She could hear a cough from down the hall, and as she tried to pry herself from Wrecker's hold, Crosshair shuffled in coughing, and Hunter followed right behind with concern.
Beth gave up. She huffed and fell back against her stack of pillows. Even she could feel her sinuses starting to swell up. They were all sick now. There was nothing left to fight.
"Come on." She lifted up the edge of the blanket and motioned for them all to join. One by one they piled into her bed, some next to her, some on the other side of Wrecker.
Credits were rolling on a long forgotten movie as the six of them all huddled together, commiserating in their shared predicament; ill, or just becoming so, but quietly cherishing the unexpected moment of being so close together, just as they once used to. Beth had already accepted the inevitable, but still had one concern left on her mind. But it was almost as if her beloved sons could read her mind, or sense her apprehension, as the comfort came soon after.
"Don't worry, Mom, we'll make sure you don't get sick, either."
"Yeah, we'll help you feel better, too."
"It's okay, Momma...."
They'd be alright, she was sure of it. They'd get through these sick days just like they got through everything else.... together.
