okay this theory might be a little controversial..
First things first, we are ignoring the show's "genetically altered sugar" sugar bowl excuse, because that feels like it was pulled out of someone's ass.
Hear me out: there is nothing in the sugar bowl + esmé is still good.
So we know that the schism didn't start with sugar bowl gen, but thats when it really exploded. Esmé Squalor is personally mad, not because Beatrice Baudelaire is a volunteer, but because her trust was betrayed.
Esmé while talking to Dewey Denoument gets told, "The container is yours. Not what it contains."
This means VFD believes the sugar bowl itself is still Esmé's. We know sometimes Lemony will use metaphors for the plot, like the great unknown.
I believe the sugar bowl is a physical stand-in for the betrayal Esmé felt with Beatrice.
When VFD split, friends became enemies. We know this, right? And we know that Esmé and Beatrice were friends that became enemies.
What if the sugar bowl is just a figurative(?) show of that? Esmé doesn't really care about VFD or arson, she just wants her sugar bowl.
And while we get the 'olaf knows' scene, Esmé probably already knew. It doesn't say 'olaf and esmé know'.
Now hear me out again– Esmé holds out the information, not telling Olaf. In hopes that Beatrice will see that she is trustworthy and give back the sugar bowl.
Esmé was obviously there when the dart was thrown. She was standing directly across from Beatrice. She definitely saw Beatrice throw the dart.
So why do we still get the 'olaf knows' scene? If Esmé was truly evil, wouldn't she immediately tell Olaf so they could incriminate them?
Esmé wants to be trustworthy, she wants to be Beatrice's friend again, she wants to hold the sugar bowl again.
Esmé only hurts the baudelaire children at Olaf's command.
"I helped you chase those orphans through the least in places in the hinterlands" That's what she says. She could care less about revenge.
In Penultimate Peril, Esmé has the opportunity to poison everyone. She doesn't. She genuinely does not want revenge.
(This is definitely less believable than my Poe is an ex-volunteer theory.)
But.. thats just my two cents lol

The mountain and trees haven't changed, but my vision isn't as it used to be. How about you? In my eyes, you haven't changed at all either. [...] From your palate to your personality, you're like me in every little way possible.

Just learned the fare for the light rail thingy is going to be cheaper overall. That's nice, but also I wonder why that's happening. OH I SHOULD PROBABLY REBLOG THE BUNCH OF POSTS FROM THE OTHER BLOG I HAD BEEN USING- Idk if I will actually. Having this one separate and definitely more a journal thing helps also with keeping track of stuff probably (idr thought process and brain became mush momentarily)
Anyways we love public transit /pf

Tennessee: 2024 Citrus Bowl Champions
Tumblr media
Tennessee football capped off its 2023 season on a strong note by dominating No. 17 Iowa 35-0 in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl on Monday afternoon.
The Vols’ defense held Iowa to just 173 yards while Nico Iamaleava turned in a strong performance in the first start of his career.
Following the win, Tennessee coach Josh Heupel discussed Iamaleava’s performance, the complete defensive showing and much more. Here’s everything Heupel said.
Opening statement
“Proud of our team, our program. I thought during the course of our preparation that they were very intentional, focused when we were in the meeting room, out on the practice field. They were engaged and they competed hard. That was true in our preparation back home, and it was true while we were here. And they enjoyed the bowl festivities. At the same time, they came out and played, the right way, prepared the right way. Proud of the performance.
“You look defensively on the line on the line of scrimmage, handled the running game, really the entire day. Matched things out on the boot game and got off the field on third down. The front applied pressure throughout the course of the game. James (Pearce) did an unbelievable job the entire day. Obviously, everybody saw the pick. He was in the backfield all day, after the quarterback all day long.
“Offensively, efficient enough. Nico (Iamaleava) played really well. First-time starter. There was nothing that was too big for him, never got rattled. Very composed, in control of the communication, in control of the run game, just did an unbelievable job — decision-making and the plays with his feet as well.
“End of the day, all three phases well together. And that was a challenge for us going into this one. That’s a really good football team that we played today. It had a tremendous amount of success this season, but Coach Ferentz, great amount of respect for who he’s, how conducts his program. A great way to finish the ‘23 season and to kick off the ’24 (season).”
On James Pearce’s performance, being more versatile moving forward for Tennessee’s defense
“James has got a great football future in front of him. He’s great player right now, but he’s got a chance to be extremely special. And for him, just continuing to grow in his understanding of football IQ as we continue to move him around and put him in positions to win is gonna be extremely important as we go through this offseason. He’s dynamic, he’s got multiple moves to affect the quarterback. But there’s still growth in some of those fundamentals and continue to grow in how he defends the run. He’s going that well, but there’s still some growth there. I say all of that, he’s a dynamic playmaker for us. He’s really rare, got a really bright future in front of him.”
On how Nico Iamaleava’s play against Iowa impacts his outlook for Iamaleava moving forward
“I believe he’s going to be a great dynamic player. And I know that. I thought he handled himself really composed all day long. Subtle things, little things, breaking the huddle, communication inside of the hall, controlling the run game. His eyes went in the right place. Great to see a young guy go out and perform in that way in his first career start. There’s a lot of things that Nico can continue to grow and grow in. The challenge early in the football game was guys playing at a really high level around him, too. I didn’t think we played as well as we were capable at times around him, but we got great confidence in him and that quarterback toom. We got great confidence in those young players. A lot of guys got an opportunity to play a lot more football today than they had. And a lot of them played extremely well. But it also showed some things where they’ve got an opportunity to grow and how those things impact our game unfolds. And I’m really excited about who’s in that locker room, who’s coming back, and where we have an opportunity to go in ’24.”
On the decision to redshirt Nico Iamaleava during his freshman season at Tennessee
“End of the day, for the quarterbacks and the guys at every position, you don’t have a ‘like, listen, you’re strictly going to redshirt and won’t play in anything other than the four games’ until you’re on the very end of the season because of the way the game unfolds and injuries that take place.
“And Nico’s been one play of away in the entire season from having to carry the load the rest of the way home. And just continue to fight as a competitor. I’m really pleased and proud of the way that he has handled his preparation every single week. I think he’s gotten better throughout the course of the season in understanding the urgency and that preparation. That’s a huge part of the reason he went out and played the way he did today.”
On how impressed he was with how Iamaleava operated the offense, avoiding penalties
“The first two (penalties) weren’t on him either. We didn’t start off the way that we needed to but after that he came out, started really fast decision making, controlling everything, really excited about how he performed. Early in the football game, offensively, special teams, there was a couple things that we didn’t do the way that we needed to. We got to be able to start faster in that one. I do like the way we responded and played clean football, really, the rest of the way home. Proud of the guys for that.”
On defensive end Tyre West’s performance
“It’s true that we got a lot of guys coming back that have played a lot of football. We’ve rotated a bunch of guys. They’ve all had days where they were extremely violent, disruptive, got the quarterback, played the run game extremely well. That group’s got a chance, if they do it the right way this off season, fundamentally, continuing to change their bodies, football IQ, understanding of the game to be a game changing unit. We need that from them and we need that from this guy right here to my right (James Pearce Jr.).”
On Andre Turrentine’s interception in the end zone
“Special teams, we don’t field the pond. We get backed up, we have a couple of penalties. We end up mis-hitting the ball on the rugby (punt). They got a short field, great play by (And)Dre (Turrentine) to undercut in the backside extension and great to see him go perform the way that he did. But that was a huge play and changed the dynamics of the game early in the football game and huge play.”
On James Pearce Jr’s pick six
“Yeah, that wasn’t bad was it? Let me tell you, great job. Understand the formation where the bodies are at what type release he’s getting. Ability to take his eyes, undercut the route and athletic enough to go make the play. He’s on the jugs a couple times a week just to make sure that you’re ready for that opportunity, you know what I mean? Might have asked him why at one point in your career, but it’s for that moment and nothing looks better than seeing a big man like him run down the sidelines.”
On what type of statement this win makes for the program
“The finish to the ‘23 season is the kick off to ‘24. I think it speaks to the culture that we have inside of our building, our locker room. Speaks to the type of competitors that we have that buckle their chin straps and wear the Power T on the side of their helmet. You look at all of the young guys that got so many meaningful snaps today. I think it speaks to the future being extremely bright. There’s a lot of things that we’re going to need to reset and grow from when they come back in January. Every season starts over, but it’s a group that I love being around and if we can continue to be great teammates, care about the people around us more than we care about ourselves, we can pour into each other, we compete extremely hard every single day, while having as much fun as we possibly can the future’s extremely bright. The challenge is great. The standard is to win championships at Tennessee. Nobody shies away from that. We got to continue to grow to put ourselves in position to do that.”

Classic Vol Video: ESPN: FBS 1992-Hall of Fame Bowl-Boston Eagles @ Tennessee Volunteers: Full Game
. The Daily Journal An interesting coaching matchup with Tom Coughlin of Boston who would later lead the expansion Jacksonville Jaguars to the 1996 NFL Playoffs, including the 1996 AFC Championship and the 1999 AFC Championship. But before Jacksonville, he rebuilt the Boston Eagles football program. That hadn’t been very good at all since Doug Flutie left in 1985. And of course Coughlin goes on…

cupcakes and kisses.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
— mingyu x gn!reader
— fluff without plot and soooo self indulgent it's crazy
— contents : established relationship, kissing, sexual tension, kissing, suggestive content, kissing, baking, did I mention kissing
"Thank you for your purchase I hope you have a good night!" the cashier wishes while giving you your pack of rainbow sprinkles.
you smiled at her and walked out into the streets so that you could make yourself back home. the sun was just setting in, and people every where were rushing back. you were in no hurry though, your apartment was just down the block and your boyfriend was still busy whipping up some vanilla frosting.
thats why you came out in the first place, he was making cupcakes for movie night, but ran out of sprinkles for the funfetti frosting. and you, being his little minion helper, volunteered to get him some.
you were an amazing cook when it came to breakfast or brunch, but baking on the other hand, hah. baking was completely out of your expertise.
you once tried to make cookies, but they neither spread nor softened and came out as rocks. they were so inedible that even the ants wouldn't touch them. you remember getting rid of them by chucking them at your brother whenever he annoyed you.
when you finally reach your apartment, your boyfriend calls put your name, and you quickly change into your home slippers and run towards him.
"I'm here I'm here" you said, sprinting towards him with a large smile on your face. mingyu smiles back at you but doesn’t stop his mixer-blender-thing from working, "did you get the sprinkles?" he asked, his head tilting to the side in a very cute manner.
you raise the pack of sprinkles and wiggle it a little to show off your excitement. mingyu lifts one of his hands up, like a gate, and you immediately step inbetween them, successfully trapping yourself in his arms.
he turns the mixer-blender-thing off and plops his head on your shoulder, watching you tear off the packet with your teeth and pour a generous amount of sprinkles in the bowl.
mingyu had a habit. his friends would always tease him about it, but honestly he found it quite cute. It was not his fault he found everything you did so endearing that he just had to stare at you as if you were hanging the stars on the sky.
it was not his fault you were so pretty to look at, with your perfect lips and perfect eyes. or the way you looked the best when you were busy. it wasn't his fault.
you found that staring habit of his cute too. but that's probably because you did the exact same thing. but were you really to blame when everything mingyu did was absolutely perfect. especially when he baked, his concentration and attention to detail always made you proud. so it most definitely wasn't you fault either.
when you were done pouring out your sprinkles, you hummed contently and waited for him to start the blender again. but he doesn't move. you look up at him with a raised eyebrow, "something wrong, babe?" you asked, worry flashing in your eyes.
you expected him to come out of his trance, but he just shakes his head side to side, with the same look in his eyes. then he thinks for a moment before his lips moved into a tiny smile and he nods his head, "yes" he said, and you could practically see the gears turning in his head.
mingyu let's go of the hand blender and grabs your waist to turn you around to face him. you give him a curious look and he just winks at you. then he turns you both around and picks you up on the kitchen island behind him.
he buries his head in your neck and trails sweet kisses all the way up to your ear. you wrap one hand around his waist and the other around his neck, your fingers playing with his hair, and you giggled whenever his kisses would tickle you.
this was normal, mingyu always kissed you every chance he got. but he always bothered to make up a stupid excuse before it, which is exactly what lead you to ask, "why so touchy, baby?"
"need to kiss my pretty baby" he said casually, as if he did this every day (he did). you laughed and let him place strategic kisses in all the right places. your forehead, the space between eyebrows, both your cheeks, and every single mole on your face.
when he finally reached your lips, you cup his cheeks. he leaned in to ever so slightly brush your lips, he releases a breath and pulls away kissing the corner of you mouth instead, you feel your heart grip itself.
he pulls away and smirks when he sees the shiver, he caused, go down your spine. "so needy for my kisses, yeah?" he asked, a smug grin taking over his smile.
you hadn't realised that the tension had caused your hands to slips down to his chest and hold his favorite jumper in a fist. you pulled him closer towards you, "need you to kiss me gyu, please" you begged.
mingyu could never deny you, and he knew that you knew that and used it against him very often, but he still chuckles at your tactics and leans in you press his lips against your in a big fat kiss.
you wrap your legs around his waist and pull yourself closer towards the edge of the counter so that you could feel him better. you wouldn't let his pulls away from you that easily again.
mingyu smiles into the kiss when he feel your clutch on his jumper. he loved teasing you, but he loved this more. the way your possessiveness would peek out and you would be less reluctant to let him go.
mingyu lays his hands flats against the counter so that he could kiss you better, and feel you closer. you hands were crossed around his neck.
his mouth moved in perfect sync with yours and you were sure you could die like this, with him kissing you absolutely senseless.
he pulls away from you for a second and look down at your eyes, you were both panting. he tucks a piece of hair behind your ear and leans back in— DING.
both of your heads turn towards the little potato shaped timer kept above the oven. "aw the cupcakes are done" mingyu said sadly, his lips forming a small pout. you rolled you eyes and pushed his hands off you. you cupped his cheeks and turned his head to look at you. "so why are you pouting?" you asked, laughing softly at his cute little sad face.
"wanna kiss you a little longer" he said, speaking in pout while trying to tuck himself back in between your legs. you made sure to keep them shut.
you press a small kiss on his cheek, "we'll kiss later I promise. for now lets finish those cupcakes, yeah? " you said while jumping off the counter and walking towards the oven to take out the cupcakes. you make sure to grab mingyu's hand on the way so that he would follow you.
mingyu takes the opportunity hug you from behind and follow you like a dumb puppy. he breaths in your hair and smiles againt your neck, "I love the way you smell" he said.
you snorted, "that's not creepy at all."
"hey I'm not creepy I just liked the way the love of my life smells okay?" he pouts again, this time angrily.
you laughed again and turned around in his arms to face him. "thank you baby" you said sincerely, then got on your tippy toes to kiss him, "I love you too" you said.
mingyu felt the butterflies in his stomach go crazy. he was pretty sure the cupcakes would burn if he didn't turn off the oven soon, but who cares? he was kissing the smartest, the most beautiful person alive. for him, it really was you who hung the stars in the sky.

Oh fun! Maybe I’ll bring some gifts for the residents.
Hmmm 🤔
Does anyone have any lists of what they like or would want for Christmas? :)
Mr. Oz: All the children provided us lists of what they wanted this year, but we pretty much covered everything on their lists. If you're looking for new ideas you may have to do some sleuthing around.
