I think a lot about yqy, who had no specific attachment to gender, feeling dysphoria the first time he realizes that the women in SJ’s bed at the WRP were delicate with elegant soft features. He spends a night turning a copper mirror every which way, struggling to apply cosmetics with shaking hands when something finally clicks and he thinks to himself “I could never look like that, I could never be what Xiao Jiu wants.”
Maybe the thought lingers long enough to drive yqy to action, to bring him down the mountain and into a brothel where the women look eager to eat up this soft spoken man and show him the ways of the world. Unfortunately that’s not what he wants, instead of seeking the delicate touch of a woman he wants to emulate it. It’s hardly unheard of, they manage all sorts of requests at brothels, and this one is simple enough.
The first time YQY sees himself properly done up, his breath catches in his throat. That is, of course, still his face beneath the white powder and red dots, those are his eyes behind the kohl liner, and yet it’s…softer. In a certain light he could almost be called delicate.
The older woman must recognize something in his expression, the hand at his shoulder gently squeezing and apologizing that they don’t have anything in his size, but if he were to return with enough notice, perhaps something could be arranged.
Yue Qingyuan returns.
Again and again and again.
Each time the spells sinks its hooks into him, a fantasy of a different life where he was a different person, one that Shen Qingqiu could bring himself to touch. Maybe even to love. The feelings that inspires cling to him like the last remnants of summer’s warmth, sparking a small joy that lasts throughout the following days until it flickers out, signaling his return.
It’s a noticeable change in Yue Qingyuan. Disciples and peak lords alike notice his improved mood, an errant An Ding disciple sees him browsing hair pins, the fine silk of women’s robes in a market place and a rumor spreads like wild fire.
The sect leader has lover!
It’s not the first time such a thing has been said, Shen Qingqiu tracks these rumors like a farmer tracks the seasons. Each and every time the claims come up unfounded, and yet…when the recent whispers from chatty hall masters reach his ears he listens. This time around, there’s a marked change in Yue Qingyuan.
An improved mood, yes, but not only that there’s…a distraction.
The sect leader’s visits to Qing Jing Peak grow further and further apart, and when he does dare to show his face it’s always followed by a visit cut short, a distant air to his demeanor. Bile turns in Shen Qingqiu’s stomach, a familiar ache in his chest pounds against his rib cage, begging to be freed. It’s the same jagged toothed creature that would bare its fangs when the likes of Shi Wu would dare call out for Qi-ge’s attention.
Shen Qingqiu did not cut Yue Qingyuan out of his heart just for someone to pick up what he discarded.
This bears investigation.
In the dark recesses of Shen Qingqiu’s mind, he’s conjured up an image of what Yue Qingyuan’s lover would be like. A soft spoken woman from a noble family or humble shopkeeper, a shy thing that inspires love from all the meet her, a paragon of purity and morality that stokes Yue Qingyuan’s bumbling courtship. He would go through the proper channels of course, through her family if she had one, or simply jump straight to providing for her if she did not. Shen Qingqiu can just imagine it, Yue Qingyuan’s sweet little lover hidden away in house that he visits under the cover of night, bringing to her the gifts Shen Qingqiu has been offered but had turned away.
It just riles him up!
That the righteous YQY would sneak around everyone’s backs to defile a hapless woman that doesn’t know better! That he could be hunched over her, rippling muscles over bearing as he whispers confessions of love under the moon light.
The idea of it makes Shen Qingqiu’s heart race and fists clench. It’s simply unacceptable!! That should be-
Yue Qingyuan shouldn’t!
He doesn’t keep his promises!
It is only for the sake of the woman that YQY has duped into being his doe she lover that Shen Qingqiu follows him.
Shen Qingqiu was convinced it would take several attempts to find Yue Qingyuan’s secret abode. Surely his wife would be protected by the strongest talismans and spells available to a sect leader. So when his tracking leads Shen Qingqiu to the red light district of another town, it’s as if the world was turned on its heels.
That righteous bastard!
Yue Qingyuan is no better than any other man!!
White eyes with fury, Shen Qingqiu bursts into the brothel, accusations of hypocrisy on the tip of his tongue. But Instead of finding YQY rutting against a woman like the swine he is he is…
He’s…
Shen Qingqiu doesn’t know what he’s looking at.
There’s women screaming and filtering out the door, his sword is brandished but SQQ’s hands have gone numb from the pressure.
Yue Qingyuan is-
He is-
…beautiful.
-
And that’s where I stop!! Happy 9/7 day YQY definitely uses his new found confidence to put the moves on SQQ, with a shakey voice he ask if he likes YQY better like this and SQQ is already stepping close to cup YQY’s face in his hands.
“Explain”
So he does and everything about how wrong SQQ was shakes him to his core because yqy would do this…found this part of himself… in order to be appealing to Shen Qingqiu…
Shen Qingqiu never tells YQY about the lover he had invented (and grown to loathe) in his jealousy, but as he’s giving him the first and most thorough fuck of his life, SQQ makes plans to buy his own secret cabin in the woods.
Just in case.

I bring an offering of more ScumDragonAU 🥰
The Draconic Peak Lord of An Ding, Shang Qinghua!
(Under the read more for dragon….anatomy)
Tumblr media
He’s not the largest of the peak lords, but his full dragon form is quite large. He uses it to haul carts and crates to save money on shipping, because if he’s got a big ol dragon form why not be cost effective? The other peak lords keep their apparent to themselves, if their fellow peak lord is going to use the peak form of divine draconic cultivation to haul their supplies they can’t really complain about to money saved
Also Mobei-Jun gets to be the small one, nothing about their dynamic changed though funnily enough. (He thinks Sqh’s refusal to fight back is because the dragon sees him as weak and that makes him flustered)

I'm fucking dying. I'm also crying as I type this because the entire sequence of the past few chapters is just :^)

Hello fav MDZS meta blogger! I come with a question about SV. I'm writing a fic about Yue Qingyuan and Shen Jiu, and I've been having some trouble handling the whole "SJ never knew that YQY went back for him and got nerfed by Xuan Su" thing. Do you have any thoughts about how Shen Jiu would react/if his choices would change if he found out fairly late in PIDW canon vs a little earlier (say, post-SJ throwing LBH into the abyss vs around the time they became peak lords)? Most discussions/metas I've seen go the "if only SJ knew, he wouldn't have been an abusive teacher/ruined his students' cultivation/tried to kill LBH etc" route, and then end up going down the "so everything SJ ever did wrong is YQY's fault actually" route, which I don't agree with, so...I feel like I need to hear someone else's thoughts about this!
Aww, hello anon! 💖
So, I've actually mused on this before, here! I think the only crucial time for the confession to have an effect on Shen Jiu is actually right when he and Yue Qingyuan reunite as teens, however, I don't think that the timing actually matters at all. I also had a good back-and-forth with @/zykamilah on this post about it, if you want to get another perspective on it. In short, I, personally, do not think that Shen Jiu would have a wholly and unambiguously positive reaction to the confession no matter when it happens, and I also believe that were Yue Qingyuan to be forced to give it, that would be the complete end of their farce of a friendship.
Now, onto how the confession would affect how Shen Jiu treats others: at best, he would remain the same, at worst, he would become a more horrible abuser. People who think that the confession is supposed to be a cure-all for Shen Jiu's shit personality must have forgotten that Shen Jiu was a jealous, cruel, and violent child before he was enslaved. The enslavement exacerbated those terrible traits but it did not create them, and Shen Jiu, himself, did not consider those traits unsavory enough to work on them. He is perfectly alright with being a little shit, and the confession would change absolutely nothing about that, especially given that it is an entirely separate issue from Shen Jiu's asshole personality.

anti-ship adjacent ships: liujiu and qijiu
so there's this weird thing that's happening in svsss of all fandoms that reminds me a lot of voltron's klance and sheith fiasco AKA the formation of what i like to call anti-ship adjacent ships
basically, when someone's favorite ship is more indicative of them being an anti-shipper of another ship.
i've had to start excluding liujiu in my ao3 searches because more often than not, the fics that come up are yqy-bashing and what?? this is svsss, right? mxtx's trashiest, most problematic, harem-bicycle-shen-yuan svsss? what is this moral outrage doing in my degenerate danmei fic space, and why are you mischaracterizing yqy just to make an excuse to hate on him??
i've had a few thoughts on the rising dichotomy of shen jiu sympathizers both validating sj's bad behavior and hating yqy for enabling the same behavior. and then shipping him with lqg because liujiu is 'less toxic.' As an old lady fanfic reader who's trawled through all the godforsaken dead dove ships of the old livejournal kink_meme, i'm writing these out because making sense of things helps me cope and i am too old for this shit
(this is actually more 'why anti-qijiu' word vomit than liujiu specific--it just so happens that so many liujiu fics are bizarrely anti-qijiu.)
narrative reasons for anti-yqy liujiu fic:
aka why an author finds it easier for the plot to bash qi-ge
accepting either romantic or platonic qijiu means trying to fix qijiu. this is hard. yqy and sj already have a proven history of failure, while sj and lqg (aka author's ideal white-knight love interest) would be the perfect do-over. making yqy a clear abusive villain sj must cut off ties with 'for his mental health' solves the problem without having to fix things. it frees the author to write what they thought qi-ge should have done to 'save shen jiu right.'
on the same note, liujiu have nearly no canon crumbs. the author can write them however they want without being constrained by their canon relationship.
why lqg over other possible ships? other than yqy, lqg is one of the few characters with any sort of previous relationship with sj. lqg is canonically hot, has strong (even if negative) feelings towards sj, and has no textual or subtextual canon ship (beyond a one-sided crush on shen yuan, with lbh getting in his way lol.) he is also the same generation as sj and thus avoids any age gap squicks like with sj's other ship partners (looking at you tlj)
yqy is the only person in cang qiong with higher authority than shen jiu. while other peak lords are antagonistic, all are ranked lower and can't get in liujiu's way the same way as yqy can as a sect leader. not even the old palace master has the same power because he's the head of a different sect. so if you really want to write a villain abusing their (implicit) power over shen jiu, yqy is the only one that fits the bill.
lbh, as sj's disciple, does not fit the same abuse of power trope even if he becomes an op demon lord. as for bingjiu, lbh's brand of diabolical stalkerish yandere is so over-the-top it's hard to equate him to any real relationship. it's easier to twist yqy's passivity to villainy because it's closer to reasonable human behavior.
if one is coming from the tgcf fandom, yue qingyuan is the closest junwu-adjacent character in terms of personality and rank (on the surface.) so it's easy to transfer any junwu hate to yqy by giving him all of junwu's worst traits and making him 'junwu-lite'
same thing as above but with mdzs and the lan xichen hate for his inaction regarding his own little meowmeow (jgy).
personal author-reasons for anti-yqy liujiu fic:
aka when the character himself doesn't matter
let's get a silly one out of the way: maybe the author only headcanons top shen jiu and most qijiu has sj being a bottom. lqg gives off better hot twinky bottom energy than submissive-but-still-tops yqy. this does not explain the anti-shipping though.
less silly: an author is projecting either themselves or other people in their real life onto their fic, and changing the character's personalities to match their real life projected counterparts (even if ooc). sj is a clear abuse-survivor insert, which shoe-horns other characters into roles that real people in the author's lives have. i think yqy is often seen as the insert for someone who 'could have helped but didn't.' there are many valid reasons why someone would be more mad at the person who averted their gaze rather than their actual abuser, but that doesn't change the fact that qijiu's relationship in canon is so much more complicated.
(it's easier to hate enablers instead of abusers, because hating abusers and inviting confrontation is dangerous. most of the time, enablers won't hurt you directly. they are the safer person to hate.)
an author thinks they could have saved sj better, that qi-ge had more than enough time to fix things and his failure not to do so must be punished by taking away his sj-simp-card and throwing him into the villain bin. this is similar to the phenomenon where an author hates the wife of canon anime couples b/c the author could clearly wife him better. and then writes a fic bashing said wife.
an author sees a messy relationship and equates messy with abusive. in reality many relationships can be messy but not abusive, messy but still fixable, but due to their personal experiences they see any attempt to do so as toxic. in this scenario yqy is often the abuser-insert and his ooc characterization takes after the author's own abuser.
specifically in fics where lqg has the personality of a cardboard cut-out: using liujiu to tell others they are still pro-ship, when in reality they dislike qijiu for their own reasons (and can't help but write it in their fic). it really reminds me of middle school lol like kids trying to find their identity by hating another identity. the whole 'ew pink is overrated, i hate preps which means i must be a nerdy rebel' and then two years later you realize you're not a nerdy rebel after all, you just based your entire identity on what you thought was the opposite of what you hated.
why i try not to read anti-qijiu liujiu fics:
aka write whatever you want, but sometimes i have to choose not to read
authors can write whatever they want. we're all doing this for free, so it's expected that a lot of fanfic have venting and some self-imposing onto a fictional character. i don't expect authors to NOT put themselves in their fic in some way. at the same time, however, i hope authors are self-aware enough to not bash another character just because that character reminds them of someone irl.
aka i get uncomfortable when i read a fic that has an author's obvious real-person insert. i'm not reading svsss fic anymore, i'm reading the author's version of punishing their abuser using fiction. i love transformative media that adds onto the canon! i love different interpretations even! but i'm here to read svsss? where are the svsss characters??
i'm not into character-bashing in general. i think the point of svsss and all of bingqiu's misunderstandings is the fact that good/evil is not a binary. sy spent the whole series fearing the 'evil' binghe despite the fact that post-abyss binghe was a complex person, causing a chain reaction of disaster. hell, shen jiu is the king of gray characters! he is a scum villain, evil and misunderstood, to be a sj-fan means to understand that no one is entirely good or evil. so it's even more cognitively dissonant when a pro-sj fic is so categorically anti-qijiu, as this often paints sj as good/misunderstood and yqy as bad.
(the only character-bashing i don't care about is the old palace master mxtx clearly wrote him to be bashed so throw him in a fire)
i don't mind liujiu actually, i think the dynamic has potential (see all the sj harem fic i've read lol) but qi-ge is such a big part of sj's character that vilifying/getting rid of him does sj a disservice too? sj has a shit ton of bad coping mechanisms, these aren't going to be magically fixed if yqy gets his limbs chopped off as 'just punishment' (??) for not stopping sj from abusing his own students (????)
in conclusion
there is no point to this rambling, and you don't need to agree with me on anything. these are just thoughts i had when trying to figure out why anti-ship adjacent ships even exist. the moral outrage is giving me war flashbacks of anti-sheith klance fans using their age gap as justification for their own ship, rather than liking klance for... being klance.
(I briefly considered going over all liujiu vs qijiu morality arguments, but if you're an sj fan i feel like morality arguments are pointless. he is an angry feral scum kitten who hits kids, no sj-fan has the moral high ground here.)
it's always unfortunate to see so much anti-shipping spilling into fandom, since by default most of us are living in the fringe minority anyway. further dividing us is just going to sink the whole ocean ala the death of livejournal and chinese ban on ao3. there's no point in ships if there ain't an ocean to sail in! aren't we all here because we are fans of these stories???
bonus
to make up for what must feel like a huge anti liujiu wall of text, here are some of my general thoughts on how their relationship would work. i'm more familiar with sj so most of these are from his pov.
while sj often has schemes upon schemes upon schemes, when it comes to anger/criticism/negativity, he's scathingly honest. lqg, a fellow honest asshole, is often on the same wavelength. once misunderstandings are cleared up and lqg realizes sj will do whatever it takes to protect big bro yqy (and thus the sect), they're able to work together as a ruthless team against cang qiong's enemies.
let's also assume fixing sj's emotional issues stops him from the worst of his scumminess aka whipping his disciples half to death.
teamwork -> enemies to lovers -> only one bed trope???
sj needs someone who will overtly believe in his goodness, and lqg, once he realizes the mistakes in his assumptions, is a loyal wall of support. unlike qi-ge who must always play diplomat, lqg blazes over all social cues. who cares if this looks bad on cang qiong, he'll throw down with anyone if his boo is insulted.
lqg is upfront and honest. there are no hidden plots for sj to be paranoid about in lqg, he's a Good Man through-and-through. if lqg has problems, he'll tell him. if he needs to apologize and sj tells him why, he'll do so. and if sj asks him a question, he'll always do his best to answer.
while lqg knows sj has trauma and a dark past, he will never truly understand what it was like. and that's exactly what sj wants. he likes how lqg knows him more as he is now in the present vs. someone who has lived through the same past. being with him is a reminder that he is now a powerful peak lord, not the starving street rat he once was.
for lqg, sj is like a complex puzzle box. an enigma so outside of his understanding of how the world works, he can't help but be drawn to it. he used to equate scheming with evil, but once he realizes much of sj's scheming was for the good of the sect, he lets himself be impressed by sj's intelligence. the fact that sj became a peak lord from nothing shows a certain type of strength-- and lqg has always appreciated strength.
a big roadblock in their relationship was sj's antagonism towards yqy (their sect leader whom lqg respects.) once qijiu reconcile (or sj stops being so disrespectful to yqy in public) lqg is better able to see him as an ally vs. an enemy.
sj rewards this loyalty by taking care of lqg's hidden enemies, because straightforward brutes are especially susceptible to devious snakes like that. sj would know. whether or not he tells lqg can go either way. he tells lqg if only to stop lqg from hearing it elsewhere and assuming the worst; or he doesn't tell lqg because he knows lqg trusts him and confusing his mind with schemes would just make him grumpy for not understanding.
...even if he's cute when he's grumpy.

okay i absolutely HAVE to ask about "YQY and ZZLs Snadventures on Qiong Ding" 😆💚
omg hi my brother in zzl appreciation 🤝🤝🐍
this fic is my baby that i expect mmm maybe 3 people to read, but it is gonna be my next longfic after WINRN! Zhuzhi-lang finds Luo Binghe as a child and watches over him in secret. when Luo Binghe leaves for Cang Qiong, Zhuzhi-lang finds a way to assume a human shape and follow him so that he can continue to protect his cousin--only to end up accepted onto the mountain under Yue Qingyuan, the man who defeated and sealed his uncle. thus proceeds many shenanigans, disciple!Shen Yuan, Qijiu reconciliation, and Qiong Ding Peak slowly acclimated to their new martial brother who keeps unhinging his jaw to eat rats.
shared one bit here so ill drop a newer part! fic tentatively titled 'to see if i might shine'
It is on one of these ventures, letting himself drift, half-asleep, along the silty bottom of the Luo River, that Zhuzhi-lang finds a new purpose in his life.  He finds it when it crashes into him, in fact. A little body drops like a stone into the water, a tiny dark mass that Zhuzhi-lang thinks at first to be a large fish or a stray dog. Then the little body starts to flail in the water, dark hair fanning out and short limbs waving. A child.  Zhuzhi-lang is not a creature often moved to kindness. He saves his empathy sparingly, for the person who most deserves it in the world. But he is heartsick and monstrous in the river, and this creature is so small. He cannot free Junshang from his bindings, but he can save the life of this little thing.  He catches them around the chest, secures a grip with slick-scaled hands, and tosses them from the water onto the shore. They roll and curl up into a tiny dark lump, coughing up river water. There are more human children on the bank. Scruffy and scrawny but bigger than the one Zhuzhi-lang has fished out of the river. They are holding sticks, and there are thin lash marks on the pale arms of the child.  Seeing the child miraculously returned to the river bank, now pushing themselves onto hands and knees, one of the others with a stick scowls and approaches. “Hey, the dog’s been washed up. Push him again and maybe—”  Zhuzhi-lang pulls himself up onto the riverbank behind the child. He uses his arms to heave up his tail, a sheet of dark hair turned lank curtain by the water. The child he fished from the river is too busy coughing and sputtering on the ground to look around for its saviour.  The children in front of him, though, get the full view of this form. One of them whimpers. Zhuzhi-lang catches the sudden scent of urine on the wind.  He hisses, baring sharp fangs, and the children flee with shrill screams.  The half-drowned child finishes expelling water from their lungs and rolls over. Zhuzhi-lang lowers himself back down to lay flat on the ground when the other children run away, but he knows how he looks. Without Junshang’s blood keeping him stabilized and humanoid, he is a monstrosity. He expects this child, too, to scream demon and run when they realize what, exactly, has saved them from the icy Luo river.  Then large, dark eyes blink up at him. Painfully familiar eyes, in a painfully familiar small face.  The child freezes. Zhuzhi-lang freezes right back, as much from the shock of that face in miniature as for the child’s comfort. They both lay there, on the banks of the river, for a long minute, watching each other.  The child with Junshang’s eyes and Young Mistress Su’s face gingerly pulls themselves off of the ground. They kneel in the dirt in front of him. “A river monster…?” The child asks.
thanks sm for the ask! ╰(*´︶`*)╯♡

I love SVSSS, but I am very sure that somewhere half way in MXTX decided to fully change her plans for the story, which turned it into an inconsistent mess that is making people constantly argue now about the characterisations and themes in the novel.
Because the story starts out as a satire and points out that SY is a shitty internet hater and neet, who is designed that way to make fun of these super hateful reddit bros. Yet halfway in that whole part of his personality just never gets mentioned any more and he never learns anything either or changes his behaviour.
Same with how MXTX throughout the whole story makes all these points about SJ actually not being the scum villain he was painted to be in PIDW. Like having SQH mention that he is a virgin, him never having lusted after women, it being revealed that he did not kill LQG, and such stuff. Yet it actually never gets acknowledged at all from SY as the POV character or the story itself.
And don't even get me started on the inconsistent mess that is YQY's entire characterisation.
So my only guess is that MXTX did genuinely start out with the satire idea and that SY was supposed to be the butt of the joke. As in "Hateful and transphobic reddit bro who objectifies young women has to take it up the ass after becoming a bottom in a BL, lol! 🤪"
But halfway in she wanted it to actually become a proper BL, but has written herself into a corner with SY's character flaws and also the justification of him being in SJ's body when SJ wasn't a scum villain like claimed. So she simply dropped these plot points. Otherwise I can not understand the huge inconsistencies. And also why she always seems to ignore SVSSS's existence.

If I was writing a Dungeon Meshi AU of SVSSS, it would probably go like this (MoShang, sorta!BingYuan and implied QiJiu, kinda hopeful/YMMV ending(?), spoilers for DunMeshi):
- Shen Jiu and Shen Yuan are elf siblings (possibly twins haven't decided), born at the bottom of elven society
- SJ manages to gain enough money with both legal and illegal stuff to be somewhat respected (but nowhere near the level of the elf noble families) - he is also something of a rogue
- SY (still a transmigrator, the younger brother) gets accepted into a very good Magic school on a scholarship - mage, specializes in monsters etc. which makes his possible employment opportunities as a court mage/mage somewhat limited outside of dungeons (and they don't have the generational wealth nobles have to do whatever they want, they need to have a paying job)
- the brothers clash a lot over each other's choices which also results in some alienation between them
- SY goes off to study dungeons, SJ stays to build his growing empire of not-completely-legal activities
- SY gets known enough as an expert to get permission to go into various sealed/etc dungeons with the Canaries to study them (the Canaries are like the elven dungeon investigators/guards made up from nobles' children and convicts)
- Years pass in this stalemate between them, then one day Yue Qingyuan (elf, childhood friend, rediscovered heir to a noble family) arrives at SJ's doorstep to tell him that his brother was last seen entering a sealed dungeon months ago and not coming out since then. Additionally the dungeon started growing again which means that it likely has a new lord
- SJ decides to retrieve his brother (or his corpse then resurrect him then scold him a fuckton about being stupid)
- YQY can't go with him, but he can put him in contact with some adventurers
- months pass (bc traveling and making arrangements takes a lot of time)
- meet Shang Qinghua (still a transmigrator, also a dwarf now, rogue/cleric), his hubby Mobei-jun (ogre... what? I like the size diff... - warrior/mage btw), their buddy Liu Qingge (tall-men, warrior) and his sister Liu Mingyan (tall-men, mage/warrior) - there is a lot of multi-classing in this idea but eh
- and a warrior Luo Binghe (elf/tall-men) whom SQH is adamant they must take with them into the dungeon (because SQH is fairly sure that LBH's protag halo works just as well in this dunmeshi AU as it did in his novel)
- a few groups of the Canaries are camped outside the dungeon, not letting anyone in or out, monitoring the situation, preparing to storm and destroy the dungeon before monsters start spilling out
- so they (SJ and co) sneak into the dungeon, fighting monsters etc and eventually coming across some of the previous Canaries' bodies
- a lot of them were so destroyed/died too long that they couldn't be resurrected, SJ has a mini breakdown what this might mean for SY
- meanwhile we get a look at SY's side of the story, learn that they ran into a strange tall-men named Xin Mo in the dungeon and who turned out to be the dungeon's demon in disguise
- Xin Mo sweeps SY away and they make a deal, thus SY becomes the new dungeon lord
- he lives a quiet life studying the monsters in the dungeon (possibly mashed with his modern memories so the dungeon would start reflecting those too which would make SQH freak out a little while others are like "what twisted mind would come up with these concrete monstrosities" etc.) and creating new monsters too and there is a Luo Bingge look alike too tending to his every need (this LBH is made up of SY's memories of og!PIDW!LBH and some monsters)
- XM also feeds off of him and fanning his desires so that he can devour SY and break out of the dungeon eventually
And that's what I have atm. It would likely have a somewhat angsty ending with SJ not reaching SY in time so he gets half/mostly devoured and then how they all have to live with that. So like a hopeful ending bc they succeed, SY is alive but also really injured etc. but he could get reasonably better eventually.

saw your omega yqy post and i must know, if yqy and sj had another baby after shen yuan (after they officially get together and openly COMMUNICATE about their feelings) how would that go? how would sj feel about it knowing that yqy loves him? how would yqy feel knowing (or at least suspecting) that sj is actually looking forward to their second child?
CW: omegaverse, jiuqi, 97
Despite a breeding kink definitely being present I don’t think SJ would want another kid! But that’s not how omegaverse goes so of course there would be another!
There was so much trepidation with the first child, so naturally he’s anxious at the beginning. Jealousy and hunger are such an integral part of who Shen Jiu that he is that he puts himself in a box of how he should feel, how he expects himself to act like he did the first time around. It was such a resentful and miserable time for him that he’s not looking forward to it at all.
SJ is so used to planning for the worst that the good always blindsides him.
A stable relationship means that this time around he doesn’t have to restrain himself at all. SJ can scent yqy as he wishes and bury his face in the sect leader’s neck for hours, getting drunk off the smell of a happy pregnant omega knowing “I did this, qi-ge is this happy because of Me.”
He can enjoy the changes this causes in yqy this time around instead of thinking it’s a parasite changing him into something unfamiliar.
There was a very real fear in yqy that SJ wouldn’t want anything to do with them after Shen yuan was born that just isn’t an issue this time around. Yqy would have been overly independent the first time around, partly because of not wanting to bother SJ but mostly because that’s who he is. When he tries to pull the same shit this time around SJ gets to gleefully bully yqy into resting and being spoiled. For once yqy can’t ignore him to stay up and finish more paperwork because SJ will immediately weaponize the baby’s health against him.
(SJ becomes a menace on Qian Cao peak and MQF morns the time when he knew less about his shixiongs sex life and they used to avoid medical care)
The pregnancy sex is filthy, but more body worship than degradation happening for once. (We’re not talking about the lactation kink but it’s real.) SJ looks at YQY flushed and full, pressed against a nest of the softest most expensive materials available and thinks, “I won. This is mine, mine, mine.”
Pride and smug satisfaction define the second pregnancy.
This is the life Shen Jiu was owed, all the years of hell were for this. Everyone that ever looked down on him was wrong, they would all eventually die with their aspirations on their tongues while Shen Jiu lives as a powerful immortal with a spoiled Qi-ge on his arms.
(The barefoot and pregnant omega fantasy is strong this time around and if only yqy could just stop giving a shit about the sect for two seconds to make it a reality!!)
YQY is over the moon with all this, similar to Shen Jiu there’s less restraint going on and he allows himself the full range of emotions. On more than one occasion he finds himself tearing up with a silent joy that sends SJ into panicked spirals that typically end with a flustered “we could have had this earlier if you weren’t an idiot about things!!”
Not only that but also with jealousy, he isn’t just a thing that belongs to SJ (though he is!) this time around but also someone that has just as much a claim to his beautiful husband. There is a certain smugness to his status a a powerful pregnant omega with an ethereal husband when they have meetings with outsiders. Also he fully milks (lol) his rights as an omega to have his alpha come everywhere (lol x2) with him “for his safety.”
(If YQY wasn’t the sect leader they surely would have been thrown out for public indecency.)
If with Shen Yuan SJ had been a reluctant father with his first pet, then with baby 2 he is suddenly the obnoxious show dog owner that thinks he’s better than you.
The difference is that Shen Yuan was Qi-ge’s baby, and the goodness of him was because of that association, it was the saving grace from the poison he would inherit from SJ.
Baby two is his, they’re all his, because it’s what Shen Jiu deserves. They are his victory and his pride and he radiates condescension for his superior family that he built.
(YQY is so into this baby 3 might be a given)

Darling mutual of mine please please give me more about the first two snippets, like I'm wondering why the sect leader visited Shen Yuan, is it in any of your already mentioned works in progress? (Actually about the tea that the original Shen used to detect qi deviations, if it was drunk by the sect leader would he have any reaction because of the sword thing? Sorry I'm rambling)
And it was with those practice sheets strewn across his table that he reluctantly welcomed his Zhangmen-shixiong into his bamboo house. The man had had his familiar kicked dog eyes in full force when he'd gone to check who was knocking at his door, and he had been weak to it. He hadn't shown it, of course. No, he'd looked the sect leader up and down with a critical eye before snapping his fan open. Covering the bottom half of his face to hide the put upon downturn of his lips, before he'd welcomed the man in, instructing him to sit down whilst he made tea. A more minor but no less helpful boon of the muscle memory of the original Shen Qingqiu was how to prepare tea the ancient Chinese way.  Taking his time searching through the sachets he landed on a particularly sweet tea that had the unusual properties of becoming unnaturally sour when exposed to turbulent atmospheric qi. Shen Qingqiu suspected the original had used it to help detect when he was entering into a qi deviation.
So, I'll answer your questions segment by segment!
The sect leader visited SQQ bc of the fact that someone complained to him that Shen Qingqiu had a cool code language and wouldn't tell anyone about it and how it's totally unfair that just him (the sect leader) and SQQ get to know it! And so he went to investigate because of [redacted reasons explained later in the wip ;)]!!
Also the tea thing; so Yuan *thinks* it's to detect qi deviations and that is part of it, but also turbulent atmospheric qi makes it *super* bitter and it just so happens to be the tea OG!SQQ used every time the sect leader weaselled his way into having sit-down tea time with SQQ, so poor YQY always thought SQQ gave him tea that started sweet but turned super nasty the longer it seeps but it's literally just OG!SQQ projecting so much resentment at him that it turns his tea bitter! And hm, I hadn't considered it but yeah I bet the tea would also turn sour because of the whole sword issue and SQQ would just never notice because of the above explanation!! He's too busy causing literal psychic damage to the tea to notice!
And the provided context for this snippet is a au wherein Shen YUAN was the past life of Shen JIU and only a few small things were kept in his mind during the life cycle change like him having memories of two older brothers and a baby sister and english. (joke abt language teachers being a traumatic experience inserted here) And so little Shen Jiu teaches baby Yue Qi about this secret language only *he* can read, write and speak. And it's their code from then on.
Well, due to the system and the qi deviation that let it slip in, Shen JIU's memories and Shen YUAN's full past life memories were returned so for Shen YUAN it feels like transmigration but it's not. And to keep up his english skills for reasons explain a bit earlier on than the provided snippet he uses sheets of paper to keep his writing skills in tip top shape a rather intense argument is going to break out between SQQ and YQY over the contents of the sheet!
--
It was a testament to how well the sect leader hid his clingy muddle-mouthed side that people had thought Shen Qingqiu was acting irrational. Or spoilt for that matter. It was more like Shen Qingqiu was being bought with all these wonderfully expensive trinkets to either keep quiet about how much of a fool the sect leader was behind closed doors or about whatever had made the sect leader so foolish in the first place. Whatever it was must have been earth shattering for him to keep it up after the peak lord had lost most of his memories - maybe he feared that would be one thing Shen Qingqiu wouldn't forget, vindictive as his memories had seemed to make him. Or perhaps that had been one thing his shixiong had remembered, they were the only two in the room when the Qing Jing peak lord had arisen after his qi deviation after all.
And this second section!!
Ah, Liushen my beloved.
@vveirdnobdy and I are working on a liushen prompt list (sorry for the tag bestie) between ourselves atm and this is for the prompt 'bad habits' and since many of my ideas for the prompts revolve around my favourite liushen concept of courting and fan-returns it only felt right to have that be the focus of this prompt! But this particularly extract is from Liu Qingge's pov reminiscing on how SQQ has been really bitchy lately and comes to the (incorrect) conclusion it's because SQQ keeps having to have meetings with YQY bc he's accidentally intercepting covert correspondence.
What is actually happening is that SQQ is leaving little notes in his fans for his faithful shidi to find that are either confessing his feelings or flirting with LQG, but he's so dedicated to protecting the sanctity of their sect tactician's privacy he's never opened them and keeps returning them unopened. This leads to SQQ realising he's working against a brick wall but determined to push through anyway- leaving him very annoyed and then leads to LQG's above (incorrect) realisation.

I keep thinking about YQY/JC so much because I love them and want to bang them together like barbie dolls but then I run into the problem of They Are Both Bottoms in my head :( even if someone invented the cultivation equivalent of a double-ended dildo neither of them would ever initiate. They would make oblique overtures but would never push through!
First, I believe in the power of bottom4bottom. If they want to roll around on the bed and make out every night, well I think that's beautiful.
Second, Jiang Cheng doesn't want to talk to strangers, but he will to save other people from doing so. He will say "excuse me, he asked for no pickles." He will raise his hand when his friend is confused by the lecture. He will--if needs must--advance a relationship where there is clear love, respect, and UST.
Third, it is my firm belief that Yue Qingyuan is capable of performing whatever role Xiao Jiu bullies him into; and Jiang Cheng is nothing if not capable of reading a situation and finding a solution.
More seriously, neither of them have specific trauma related to the other. Yue Qingyuan doesn't speak of what he went through to Shen Jiu because he can't. Jiang Cheng is insecure in his relationship with Wei Wuxian because Wei Wuxian *gestures at all of him* and then Wei Wuxian left, over and over again.
So, Mx. Anon, Tear Down That Wall. Smash those Barbies together!

I just imagined SVSSS SJ meeting LMK Macaque
Why did they become besties that sit and braid each other’s hair. Babysit a young Redson and have him have play dates with YingYing
Imagine the righteous cultivation peak lord scolding his fellow peak lords while a little red headed baby sat nestled against his breast.
YQY foaming at the mouth seeing another man (albeit demon monkey) casually strutting around SJ’s place. Sometimes half dressed. He knows it’s on purpose too. YQY is not quiet and Macaque could hear him from miles away.
YQY practically begging SWK to take Macaque but both are met with disgusted sneers from not only the two besties, but the peaks disciples. Especially LBH, whom Macaque and SJ practically co-parent.
Yingying and LBH often play dress up with Macaque who lets them see his original appearance before the incident with WuKong.
