Why did Nick's goodbye affect Boston that way?

I think it's hard or jarring to understand why Boston felt like he was coming undone listening to Nick when the most stuff they did was just f**king. The thing is even if they were doing the nasty 80% of the time, that 80% was when Boston was the happiest. And Nick did LOVE him, like love him. And I mean of course what Nick did wasn't just stalker-ish, it was what stalkers do!!! BUT, I think what happened is that neither of them is completely mentally A-OKAY... They both have their issues and Boston especially has always shunned connections, especially long-lasting ones, because he knows he'll leave and that is just burdensome, so he treats everything as use and throw, hurting so many people in the process.... And I don't know, but I'm speculating he also treats the concept of LOVE similarly, probably after watching his parents, coupled with the fact that Boston uses both himself and others with sex as a currency in exchange for something like a good time, a power play, a way of feeling good about himself, a trade-off, a way to obtain conquests, which at the END OF THE DAY makes Boston extremely lonely... He is a human and you can't avoid connections just like that... BUT NOBODY SEES/OR SAW THE HUMAN BOSTON, not the evil, villainous slutty, assholey Boston, but also the artist Boston, the humane Boston underneath..... UNTIL MR. NICHOLAS ARRIVES.

And I'm very intrigued by Nick's character too, I wish we got some backstory... But Nick as we can see is very naive, very impulsive, and introspective but strangely and foolishly thinks that he is clever... He has abandonment issues, and self-esteem issues too... But what he has that Boston never had was EMPATHY, intense EMPATHY, or clinically illegal empathy, with which he sees the world. And he in his own warped mind accepts Boston, good, bad, and ugly, and even if to Boston they were just FWB, those times he spends with Nick are enjoyable, happy, pleasurable (in a different, not exactly sexual way) unknowingly allowing Nick to burrow under his skin. And even though Nick loves Boston, most assuredly, still he does feel upset too... And we saw that when he told Mew about Gap... But the thing is Nick feels things deeply, more deeply than the others, and in a way he is softer, gentler, and more straightforward than probably anyone Boston has ever known.

And before Boston could even comprehend what had happened in his strictly FWB relationship with Nick, he was ALREADY ATTACHED TO him. He never considered that he would be the one pining for something other than sex, but he did, and that's why Nick's betrayal seemed so drastic for him. Because he genuinely was becoming fond of Nick. But Boston would never have acted on this feeling, instead choosing to bury it away IF NICK HADN'T GIVEN HIS FINAL GOODBYE MONOLOGUE TO HIM.

Nick changed the trajectory of their relationship. THE FIRST PERSON TO SAY SORRY TO BOSTON. To say that I appreciate you, I think you're not a terrible person even if you think so, and I appreciate your dreams and hope you achieve them one day and I love-you-enough-to-let -you-go.... And finally goodbye my lover, I wish you nothing but the best, shook Boston because not only was Nick brave, he was vulnerable, he owned up to his mistakes and he affirmed that yes, you made me happy and I see you, all of you and I still love you. It broke Boston to be 'loved' at all, but in this way by a man, he cheated on and broke his heart.... Also, I want to add, that a lot of people make fun of how Nick eavesdropped on other of Boston's hookups but poetically it is so ironic because in that moment Nick was actually grounding Boston away from another one of his meaningless hook-ups, stopping him from running away from his actual thoughts and processes... And what was very interesting was it was Nick apologizing and bidding him farewell, but it was Boston who couldn't meet his eyes. I would also like to add, that honesty is Boston's saving grace, something we also see in Nicholas in episode 9, like two peas in a pod.

Lastly, I think all credit goes to Mark and Neo for fleshing out such complex, selfish, almost-criminal characters with such finesse, humanity, and vulnerability with so little screentime.

Only Friends- Nick breaking my heart

The more I kind of ruminate on the first two episodes, the more I just become so worried for Nick. With Mew, like most of us, there's a suspicion that he's manipulating his situation, that he's not nearly as innocent as he presents, virginity aside. But Nick's behavior, while not innocent...is almost guileless.

Watching that first episode and his reaction to Boston, the reveal of the photo on the phone...

it's so bold. And it leads us to believe that Nick's operating about at the same level as Boston, that it's about attraction and sex only.

But to watch this second episode, and Nick's interactions with Boston, it's so heartbreaking and stressful to watch.

He's being so open with Boston, talking about his insecurities, and then the conversation about what they are, and Boston offers fuck buddies or friends with benefits. And it's so clear that that first advance on Nick's part was him taking a giant leap of faith for Boston because he was genuinely attracted, and he wants more than just those two things.

And it just breaks my heart, to see him be so genuine while Boston is literally just toying with him, and also far more focused on how he can get Top. Poor Nick is barely even an afterthought, and it just makes me feel so sad.

I don't know how to feel about potential resolutions. Would it be great for Boston to recognize the depth of adoration Nick has for him? Yeah, but adoration doesn't make a relationship that can stand the test of time, at least not alone. Would it be nice if Boston fell for Nick? Yes, but that clearly isn't going to happen overnight, and so even if he comes to that realization, Nick may be gone for good. And I wouldn't blame Nick for choosing not to forgive and forget, to learn you've only been used by the person you were falling for more and more everyday...that's a difficult thing to reconcile.

I'm just not certain there's a realistic way that everyone in this show will really get a happily ever after. And it's not required, life doesn't often end in HEA's. But I'm a soft-hearted romantic at the core, and as flawed as all of these characters are, I want them to have love and connection and family.

I guess that's really all I have to say. Well, one more thing, Mark and Neo are doing wonderful work, but Mark especially is shining in this role. It feels so different to me from anything he's shown us before.

Something about Nick loving Boston endlessly, the soft / sensual moments that are so real for one and just another Tuesday hook up for the other, the one sided love, Nick being the 2nd choice and delusional, the longing stares given by Nick really fucks me up

Nick begs for Boston's love, Nick wants to be footnotes in his story, he tries so hard to remain non chalant and "chill" all the while his heart is breaking because he is so in love with Boston. idk if Boston ever loved Nick or if he was just attached and grateful to Nick for his love.

Nick struggles with self esteem issues and just craves love and gets obsessive about Boston although in reality he is aware of Boston's insincerity. I know Nick comforts himself every night and holds on to hope that maybe his love is powerful enough to change Boston. Their reconciliation scene had me in tears.

Personally I have been Nick my whole entire life, I have been the second choice, longing snd hoping and waiting and begging for love so when Boston is vulnerable towards Nick and acknowledges how he has become affected by Nick - I am a puddle on the floor because the deepest, most unhealed parts of my heart are hurt.

But again, I want Nick to not be with Boston ever and Boston must suffer because my ego cannot accept Boston and Nick although a part of me REALLY HOPES they end up together.

where the triplets and Y/N have a small 'coloring drawings date' back in Boston

It was a chilly Boston afternoon, and the cozy kitchen of the Sturniolo triplets' childhood home radiated warmth. The black and white marble counter was covered in a colorful array of pencils and printed drawings ready to be filled in.

Matt, Nick, Chris, and Y/N sat together, each absorbed in their masterpieces, while an assortment of completed drawings, taped with pride, decorated the fridge nearby - just like the one back in Los Angeles, creating a gallery of memories they'd crafted every time they came to Boston.

Y/N was nestled close to Matt, sharing a single pair of earphones that played their shared playlist, mix of indie tunes, and a few songs that made them laugh as they lip-synced together.

Every so often, Y/N would pause her coloring just to press a gentle kiss onto Matt's shoulder or cheek, and every time she did it, Matt’s face would light up with a shy smile, his hand instinctively reaching over to brush her fingers, squeezing them lightly before returning to his coloring.

Across the table, Nick was squinting at his drawing, his tongue sticking out in concentration as he carefully filled in the skin of the pokémons with a vibrant mix of yellows, blues and purples. Chris, with a look of intense focus, was working on an abstract swirl of colors, occasionally nudging Nick to make him mess up just a bit, causing laughter between them.

"Hey, don't mess with my work!" Nick huffed, shielding his paper from Chris, shooting him a dirty look. "Fucking moron."

Chris snorted.

"Oh, come on, Nick, I’m just adding some flair to it!" He laughed, his tone playful, but he left Nick’s drawing alone, deciding instead to lean closer to Y/N and Matt, peeking at their work, accidentally hitting some pencils to the floor. "What are you two coloring over there?" He teased, a soft smile on his face as he watched Y/N and Matt too close, almost blending into each other, the identical maroon sweaters disguising who was who.

Y/N grinned, lifting her drawing to show a sunset over mountains, shaded in soft pinks and oranges.

"It’s our little Boston sunset for the fridge gallery."

Matt smiled brightly, rubbing his thumb over the back of her hand as he glanced at her drawing.

"It’s going to he the prettiest drawing in there, babe." He murmured, leaning down to place a quick, sweet kiss on her temple.

"You're so disgusting." Chris huffed, rolling his eyes playfully before going back to his own paper.

Y/N stuck her tongue out playfully in response, her eyes gleaming with a happiness that was contagious.

As the playlist continued, Matt and Y/N swapped colored pencils back and forth, murmuring softly to each other about which colors went best with the others.

After a while, Nick stood up, lowering his grey headphones, heading to the fridge, and scanning their growing gallery.

"Alright, let's see what new masterpieces we're adding today." Nick announced, carefully peeling off a piece of tape to stick Chris's vibrant butterfly next to his own pokémons drawing on the fridge door. "At this point, we’re not even gonna see the fridge anymore." He grinned, smoothing each piece into place with a bit of pride.

Without missing a beat, Chris turned to Matt and Y/N, an exaggerated impatience in his voice.

"C'mon, lovebirds, finish up so we can add your little sunset next to my work of art."

Matt scoffed, rolling his eyes as he passed a glance at Chris.

"If we’re being honest, yours doesn’t even deserve a spot." He muttered with a smirk, dodging Chris’s halfhearted swipe at him. "Oh, I'm gonna end you-"

"Boys, no fighting near the fridge!" Came Mary Lou’s voice from the couch in the other room. Both brothers froze, biting back laughter as they stood straight. Nick stifled a chuckle, sharing an amused look with Y/N, who shook her head at them all, her smile soft.

"Alright, Matt, focus." Y/N said, tugging him gently by his sweater sleeve to bring his attention back to the counter. "Before I finish this sunset all by myself."

Matt let himself be pulled down with a playful grin, settling beside her once more.

"Fine, fine." He relented, leaning in close, their heads nearly touching as they dove back into their coloring, whispering and swapping pencils as if the world outside didn’t exist.

Sand was risking Nick... I loved him being unhinged (especially with stomping his phone) and doing the thing that should be done but like, when Boston finds out it was Nick who recorded, I don't think he's gonna be happy about it. Especially after Drake character recording him. This is gonna hurt Nick bad.

Boston the guy who literally told Nick at the party with that resting-bitch-face, 'Does it look like I care, why are you telling me anything'. The one who (justly) accused Nick of invading his privacy and letting his friends get to know, about his incendiary, secret hook-up. The one who doesn't let anyone close get to him and abhors "drama", is the same man sitting alone sharing how he 'feels' with this said ex, he threatened to call the cops on?? Admitting he is devastatingly lonely, that he doesn't know why he does, what he does, and hugging it out, in a purely non-sexual way, in a way of seeking comfort... And I'm supposed to believe this isn't love? That there isn't a deeper connection between them? That there isn't fondness, isn't affection? That it's all in Nick's (and my) head?

If we witnessed Nick's growth in Ep 9, I think it'll be Boston's growth in Ep 10.

Am I the only one that does not really get why everybody in the show is so hung up on the crush Ray has/had on Mew. Boston trying to stirr shit up for Ray by telling Sand, Ray had a crush and kissed Mew two whole ass years agoo?

I get the crush might still be lingering but that does absoluty not mean Ray wants a relationship with him. And that he is not absolutely smitten for Sand at the moment.

Don’t we all have that one crush we haven’t really gotten over?

I also think the reason Ray is attached to Mew is because he is the one that saved him in a attempt and depressive episode. He was there for him when nobody else was.

I loved that Ray let Sand know that he could ask any questions if he had any. Because honestly the truth is less hurtful than anything going on in Sands mind.

He wanted to have the conversation for Sand’s sake but also his own. He knows Sand cares and he cares what Sand thinks because they have come attached to eachother. And Ray does not want Sand to misunderstand.
