something about fandom I really don't like and wish people would stop doing is cross tagging fandom tags for more reach on ao3
like if you write a fic based off The Untamed that does not cross over or pull from the original MDZS novels in any meaningful way (and vice-versa), you do not need to tag both! Tagging every adaptation makes filtering via fandom tags functionally useless
#for comparison this would be like tagging a nuwho fic as the classic series when it has nothing to do with it#tagging the dmmd anime or recode for a fic based off the original game#writing a death note fic with everything from the musicals to the american live-action when youve only even seen the anime#ofc theres nuances maybe you took a specific scene or mentioned a certain factoid from a related media source blah blah blah#maybe the two adaptations/related medias have very little to no differences#but I still dont think that constitutes the need to tag every adaptation and related original source under the sun#AO3 is an archive! not a social media site! promote it on your socials instead!
