hey thank you so much. when i'm grappling with these kinds of themes i find that trying to follow some moral mandate of "writing a respectful portrayal" is just...not my thing. it's boring to me. and there's nothing more insincere than a writer slogging through something that inherently doesn't interest them. there are plenty of stories out there that try to grapple with sexual assault and victimhood in ways that are informative and respectful, and i support the existence of these wholeheartedly. sometimes that's what a person needs and sometimes that's the story that someone needed to tell.

but i don't think there are enough stories for people whose relationships to victimhood are messy and complicated and "gross." which is not to say, also, that i'm trying to write stories for the express purpose of helping these people feel seen--it just happens to be a byproduct of writing stories that feel sincere to me, which i have been endlessly surprised by.

i think it's fine to be horny about things that are "disgusting" and "reprehensible." human brains are fucking weird like that. i think there's a lot of people who survived terrible things and came away from it absolutely averse to exploring similar things in safer arenas, which is valid and fine. i also think there's a lot of people who survived terrible things and who, by the act of exploring similar things in safe arenas (by participating in kink or reading fiction, both of which are fantasy), can start to heal. and i think there are some people who just find certain things hot without any trauma reason whatsoever. all of these are fine and good.

above everything i want to tell stories that feel human. that are messy and sexy and awful. i want to write stories that stick in your craw. i want to write stories that are simultaneously disgusting and horny and meaningful, because that's true for me. it's not for everyone, but it's for people like me. it makes me really happy that this resonates with some folks. thank you again!
