I'm not a scientist, but the frustrating thing about so much modern science is that it's fundamentally

a) nerds who want to solve cool, mostly-theoretical engineering problems, for the sake of solving the problems and making people's lives a little bit better

funded by

b) The Murder Industrial Complex, whose primary goal is figuring out how to murder people in ways that get particular politicians elected as efficiently as possible

So every time you've got an engineering problem that's just nifty and cool to solve for its own sake you've got some PR guy from the nerd company going "uhhh, we could use this for search and rescue? we could use this to help desert warfare logistics?"

and the sad thing is, I'm pretty sure the only people buying any of it are people who are not involved in the Grant Money Dance, who don't understand that most of this science is not actually going to be used for the Military Applications (TM) (R) that the people making them claim they're using it for

they're saying that shit to get grant money because it's the easiest way to get their cool theoretical engineering shit funded

Currently reading my dear friend Phoenix's ( @alienfuckeronmain ) newest book Thorngale and loving it so far. Saw a pretty sunset and couldn't resist some pics. If you are heavy into depravity, disgust, and all things gothic horror then you should check it out. I will say this book has very "dead dove" type content but really it just fits itself very well to traditional gothic literature tropes (recently read Wuthering Heights and it did have like. some batshit crazy stuff in there so I'm really just expecting more of the same). I love Phoenix's work and I love how she writes horror. My life would not be the way it is now without her ♡.

okay I just need to get something off my chest. I'm a member of the lgbt+ community, and some of the discussions I've seen online about Boston have really rubbed me the wrong way tbh. like, countless people seem to imply that he's a terrible person because he's promiscuous?? there's nothing wrong with sleeping around! it's not inherently immoral! I know that in this circumstance a lot of people are saying it jokingly, but I've heard a lot of people irl - both outside of the community and within it - be really crappy and rude about m|m being promiscuous, like really looking down on them for it as if it's some sort of failing on their part. and it's not! again, in Only Friends I know there's more to it, and there's cheating and hurt feelings and whatnot involved, but Boston has not committed to a monogamous relationship with anyone and he is not morally in the wrong for simply sleeping with people. it's his body and that's his perogative! so, idk it'd just be nice if we could tone it down on the whole "Boston sleeping around makes him a terrible person" thing ig
