Aca Top 10: Disney Sidekicks — VoicePlay music video
youtube
Triumph often requires teamwork. Disney heroes take big risks and achieve great things, but they wouldn't get very far without their trusty sidekicks. Whether they're providing a pep talk, sage advice, or a simple moment of comic relief, those supporting characters are among the most cherished by fans. So grab a buddy and enjoy this medley of feel-good songs.
Details:
title: Aca Top 10 – Disney Sidekicks
original songs / performers: [0:20] "When You Wish Upon a Star" by Cliff Edwards as Jiminy Cricket in Pinocchio (1940); [0:34] "Be Our Guest" by Jerry Orbach as Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast (1991); [0:52] "Heigh-Ho" by the cast of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves (1937); [1:02] "Hakuna Matata" by Nathan Lane as Timon, Ernie Sabella as Pumba, & Jason Weaver as Simba in The Lion King (1994); [1:14] "Bare Necessities" by Phil Harris as Baloo & Bruce Reitherman as Mowgli in The Jungle Book (1967); [1:33] "Under the Sea" by Samuel Wright as Sebastian in The Little Mermaid (1989); [1:52] "In Summer" by Josh Gad as Olaf in Frozen (2013); [2:22] "Chim Chim Cher-ee" by Dick Van Dyke as Burt in Mary Poppins (1964); [2:41] "You're Welcome" by Dwayne Johnson as Maui in Moana (2016); [3:01] "Friend Like Me" by Robin Williams as the Genie in Aladdin (1992)
written by: "When You Wish Upon a Star" by Leigh Harline & Ned Washington; "Be Our Guest" by Howard Ashman & Alan Menken; "Heigh-Ho" by Frank Churchill & Larry Morey; "Hakuna Matata" by Elton John & Tim Rice; "Bare Necessities" by Terry Gilkyson; "Under the Sea" by Alan Menken & Howard Ashman; "In Summer" by Kristen Anderson-Lopez & Robert Lopez; "Chim Chim Cher-ee" by Robert B. Sherman & Richard M. Sherman; "You're Welcome" by Lin-Manuel Miranda; "Friend Like Me" by Howard Ashman & Alan Menken
arranged by: Geoff Castellucci, Eli Jacobson, & Layne Stein
release date: 10 August 2018
My favorite bits:
Geoff's intro narration, and the other guys' reactions
the rising harmonies on ♫ "they will come to" ♫
giving "Heigh-Ho" a little "Hip Hop Hooray" flavor
J.None taking over the bass line while Geoff sings lead for "Bare Necessities"
Eli and Earl singing ♫ "settle down now" ♫ instead of "rest at ease" with two different connotations — Eli: "Take a nice break." Earl: "Calm down, dude."
J's saucy little ♫ "Uh oh!" ♫ in "Under the Sea"
that pitch perfect Olaf impression from Eli ☃️
🥕 ♫ "a-buh-buh-buh Mountain Dew" ♫ 🥕
Layne's michievous expression after Geoff swipes his carrot
the back row swaying in time to "Chim Chim Cher-ee"
Earl's affronted expression when J starts singing Maui's part
those horn hits from Eli and Earl 🎺
Layne retaliating for the carrot theft by recreating the Genie's raspberry toward Geoff

Trivia:
○ VoicePlay had previously recorded several of the songs included in this medley, mostly on their Disney-centric album, "Once Upon an Ever After".
"When You Wish Upon a Star" is the second-to-last track on "OUaEA", and moseys through several fun rhythmic variations.
"Be Our Guest" is the opening segment of their Beauty and the Beast medley, Tale As Old As Time. They also made a short video for it, which was one of the earliest on their YouTube channel.
"Hakuna Matata" is part of The King Has Returned, a Lion King medley.
"Friend Like Me" is the closing portion of their Aladdin medley, Diamond in the Rough. It's also the first non-promotional video on the VoicePlay YouTube channel after their name change.
"You're Welcome" was included in their "Moana medley" with Rachel Potter the year before.
○ Since this video was released, the guys have recorded newer versions of a few more songs.
An excerpt of "Under the Sea" was included in their "Little Mermaid medley" with Rachel Potter.
They got back to their roots for a barbershop tag of "When You Wish Upon a Star" in the summer of 2023.
Geoff made a multi-tracked version of "Bare Necessities" as the first music video on his personal channels in 2020.
○ The YouTube description asserts that "No carrots were harmed in the making of this video. Except that one. That one was hurt over and over and over and over…" 😆
○ The guys are once again all wearing thematically appropriate shirts.
Eli — Timon the meerkat from The Lion King with his hands on his hips, in front of a white striped circle with a teal border and "nope" in teal letters beneath
Earl — silhouette of Yondu from Guardians of the Galaxy composed of the words "I'm Mary Poppins, y'all" in blue text with his crest in red
J.None — tall white letters reading "lit" with a gold outline of Lumiere the candelabra from Beauty and the Beast striking a dramatic pose
Geoff — Olaf the snowman from Frozen floating in a lake with "chillin'" in white letters beneath
Layne — classic Mickey Mouse and Pluto posing together, with Mickey's arm around Pluto's shoulders

○ This is the second in a mini-series within their "Aca Top 10" series, which was preceded by "Disney Heroes" the previous autumn, and followed by "Disney Villains" the next spring.
○ Geoff, Earl, & J.None's selfie posing was caught on video & posted to Twitter.
○ The guys also took individual selfies with their pal Rek who was doing production work behind the scenes.

○ The inclusion of Olaf's song resulted in many carrot-based shenanigans during the filming. Little did they know it would be the beginning of a running joke that persists to this day, particularly when J comes back to town.

DC UNIVERSE REBIRTH JULY 2016 BY GEOFF JOHNS, GARY FRANK, ETHAN VAN SCIVER, IVAN REIS, JOE PRADO, PHIL JIMENEZ, MATT SANTORELLI, JASON WRIGHT, BRAD ANDERSON, HI-FI DESIGN AND GABE ELTAEB
SYNOPSIS + REVIEW
From the Speed Force, outside of reality, Wally West narrates his many attempts to break into reality or at least, warn everyone about the mysterious forces manipulating reality that already removed ten years of history, love and relationships.
His first try is Batman, trying to make him remember about Barry giving him the letter from Thomas (from Flashpoint), Bruce cannot remember him, but he starts questioning his reality.

He then tries to “awake” Johnny Thunder, telling him that the world still needs the Justice Society of America. Johnny seems to remember everything, but reveals that he has been trying to bring them back all along. However, he has lost contact with Thunderbolt.

We then move fast across the DC Universe, we see Saturn Girl held prisoner as they think she is insane (she will end up in Arkham), we see Ryan Choi taking the Atom mantle to find Ray Palmer. We see the next Aqualad. Green Arrow and Black Canary not knowing they had a thing, yet knowing something is missing.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/962e7735f818907e14d3ac00ca17f4b8/d0dee2c1eb1f7053-d7/s540x810/87c5b09b2416d54c512eb11ea9ab6d8e67c23a92.jpg)
We also see Pandora being killed by an unknown (very blue) force. Saying that they (the heroes) will find a way to stop him. She talks about Hope being stronger (in line with Pandora’s myth).
As the world is still mourning the death of Superman, the Converge-New-Earth Superman, Lois and Jonathan see the news on TV with a bit of despair. Lois thinks this Superman will come back, like his Clark did after Doomsday. When Clark steps out of his hotel room, he is visited by the mysterious Mr. Oz who warns him that he is not what he think he is (we will learn eventually that Oz claims to be Jor-El, will murder a lot of people, plan complete planet genocide, and as a reward, Lois and Jonathan will leave Earth with him as some kind of summer vacation. Horrible parenting skills).

Wally tries to make contact with Linda Park (who has always been his lightning rod), but she doesn’t remember him. Wally loses all hope to return.

(Yes, this is an homage to Crisis).
We then learn that there was always another Wally West in New-Earth. And Wally sees that he has powers as well and feels that at least his void will be filled.

Finally, he visits Barry to try to make him remember about Flashpoint and tell him that it wasn’t really his fault, that someone messed up the timelines while they were merging. Wally says goodbye and prepares to join the Speed Force forever. But at the last minute Barry remembers and brings him back to reality.

This is a very emotional comic-book. It brings back memories of what the DC Universe used to feel like in the nineties, before DiDio. When legacy heroes were the norm and part of an extended supporting cast. When despite being very dark times, the heroes could really overcome anything. It’s so strange that Geoff Johns was involved in many events that shaped the DCU for the worst and for the better. While Wally didn’t find happiness after this and ended up killing his best friend (by mistake), some of the things that came out of this issue survived. And really, after reading most of Doomsday Clock, you can see the connections. Even more so seeing Gary Frank’s art here.
After these few years, I still think that DCU is heading somewhere thanks to this event. You can see that Flashpoint Batman was incorporated into this, and that is no coincidence. It cannot be a coincidence that he ended up being a big element in Tom King’s run. Now, I am not sure if Johns had anything to say about Wally West’s trashing in Heroes in Crisis, but he says here that a war between hope and despair is coming. Well, there was plenty of despair recently, and Doomsday Clock/Metal have been shaping the Universe into despair. We are in the f*cking year of the villain!
DiDio is right in saying that the heroes shouldn’t be entirely happy, that they shouldn’t have everything solved. But they are also an inspiration, role models, and most importantly, someone in this planet is meeting them for the first time, and it would be a pity if they cannot see why we loved them so much. Some hope is required in heroic stories.
So call me whatever you want, but I do think that DC has a plan. It’s just taking forever because Doomsday Clock had too many delays. Plus the Three-Jokers story that we have been promised since Darkseid War.
And why would Pandora admit to shape reality if she knew about Manhattan? Well, I don’t think she actually knew it wasn’t her. And about the Watchmen twist... this was spoiled ahead of the publication, so most people were prepared for this. It was already theorized when “Before Watchmen: Doctor Manhattan” came out, that one of the universes he created was the New 52. Well, as we see in Doomsday Clock, it’s more complicated than that.
It is also an amazing job in terms of art, that we have artists that were involved in Wally adventures in the past (or in other “Rebirths”). Phil Jimenez and Gary Frank really aced the most emotional sequences in this book.
I give this issue a score of 9

DCEU Movies in Development: A Master Post
Last Edited: May 01, 2019
Since Shazam! is coming out soon, I thought I’d make a master post of all the various DCEU movies in development. However, since there’s a huge amount of movies in development, I might miss one or two. Be sure to let me know if I do.
Also, as a side-note, I broke Birds of Prey and Wonder Woman 1984 into three segments of story, crew, and cast, but since things are less clear in regards to The Batman, The Suicide Squad, and Aquaman 2, I wasn’t able to do the same for them.
Confirmed Release Dates:
Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) - February 7, 2020
The Story: Since the events of Suicide Squad, Batman has disappeared, leaving Gotham City unprotected from crime, and Harley Quinn has left the Joker. When Cassandra Cain, a young girl, comes across a diamond belonging to crime lord Black Mask, Harley joins forces with Black Canary, Huntress, and Renee Montoya to help protect her.
The Crew: Cathy Yan (director), Margot Robbie, Sue Kroll, Bryan Unkeless (producers), Christina Hodson (screenwriter), Matthew Libatique (cinematographer)
The Cast: Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jurnee Smollett-Bell (Black Canary), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Huntress), Rosie Perez (Renee Montoya), Ella Jay Basco (Cassandra Cain), Ewan McGregor (Black Mask), Chris Messina (Victor Zsasz)
Wonder Woman 1984 - June 5, 2020
The Story: Diana Prince comes into conflict with the Soviet Union during the Cold War in the 1980s, and finds a formidable foe in the form of the Cheetah.
The Crew: Patty Jenkins (director), Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder, Patty Jenkins, Stephen Jones, Gal Gadot (producers), Patty Jenkins, Geoff Johns, David Callaham (screenwriters), Patty Jenkins, Geoff Johns (writers), Hans Zimmer (composer), Matthew Jensen (cinematographer), and Richard Pearson (editor)
The Cast: Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Chris Pine (Steve Trevor), Kristen Wiig (Cheetah), Pedro Pascal (TBA), Connie Nielsen (Hippolyta), Robin Wright (Antiope)
The Batman - June 25, 2021
In October 2014, a Batman standalone film was announced by Warner Bros. By 2016, Ben Affleck was set to star in, produce, direct, and write the project. Geoff Johns and Chris Terrio were hired as co-writers. After various drafts of the script had been completed the film was moving towards beginning shooting by 2017, until Affleck stepped down as director that January. Affleck initially cited his intentions being to more specifically focus on starring as Batman, later acknowledging that after various attempts to get the script where he wanted it, it simply became "time to let someone else have a shot at it". In July 2017, Matt Reeves confirmed that the script was being rewritten: the final draft was completed by January 2019. Reeves reworked the story to focus on Batman earlier on in his career as a vigilante; he said the film will be character-driven and stylistically noir, and will explore the detective aspect of the character to a greater extent than previous films. In January 2019, Affleck confirmed he will not reprise his role as Batman, but remains involved as a producer. Principal photography is expected to begin in November 2019.
The Suicide Squad - August 6, 2021
In March 2016, a Suicide Squad sequel was announced to be in development, with David Ayer returning to direct. Adam Cozad was hired to write the script by March 2017. By July 2017, a new story treatment was written by Zak Penn. In September, Gavin O'Connor was hired as director after Ayer dropped out, as well as co-screenwriter with Anthony Tambakis, David Bar Katz and Todd Stashwick. The final draft of the script was completed in October 2018, though production was delayed due to conflicts with Will Smith's production schedule, followed by O'Connor leaving the project. Production was placed on hold as Warner Bros. believed the script was too similar to Birds of Prey. Charles Roven, Michael De Luca, Peter Safran, Geoff Johns, Richard Suckle, Dan Lin and Andy Horwitz will produce the film. In January 2019, the film was retitled The Suicide Squad, with James Gunn directing, from a new script he wrote. Gunn chose the project over various other films Warner Bros. has in development, including the Man of Steel sequel. In March, Idris Elba joined the cast. He was initially going to replace Smith, who dropped out due to scheduling conflicts, as Deadshot, but it was later decided that Elba would play a new character so Smith could return in the future. Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, and Viola Davis will reprise their roles as Harley Quinn, Rick Flag, Captain Boomerang, and Amanda Waller, respectively. David Dastmalchian and Daniela Melchior were cast to portray Polka-Dot Man and Ratcatcher, respectively. John Cena is in talks to portray an as-of-yet unnamed role. Other members of the titular team include King Shark and Peacemaker. Production will begin in September 2019
Aquaman 2 - December 16, 2022
By December 2018, a sequel to Aquaman was in development. In October 2018, James Wan stated the first film intentionally left room for a follow up. Jason Momoa later revealed that he had an idea for the sequel, and had written the first act. The actor pitched the story to Warner Bros. through Toby Emmerich and producer Peter Safran, who were receptive. By December, high pre-release ticket sales and positive reception for the film had convinced Warner Bros. to begin developing a sequel. In January 2019, Warner Bros. confirmed development, with intentions for Wan to return as director. The following month, David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, co-writer of the first film, signed on as screenwriter. In March, Safran announced the film will explore the other Seven Kingdoms of Atlantis.

By July 2013, Greg Berlanti was developing a film that centered around the Barry Allen incarnation of the Flash. In October 2014, The Flash was announced with a scheduled 2018 release date. The initial script was drafted by Berlanti, Chris Brancato, Michael Green and Marc Guggenheim. In April 2015, a story treatment was written by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller based on the previous draft, with the intention being that the duo would also direct the film. Over the next two years, Seth Grahame-Smith and Rick Famuyiwa, had individually dropped out as directors of the project due to creative differences with the studio. In January 2017, Joby Harold was hired to do a page-one rewrite of the script, which previously had drafts written by Grahame-Smith and Famuyiwa. In July 2017, the title for the film was changed to Flashpoint, based on the comic book story arc of the same name. In March 2018, John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein were hired to co-direct. Zack Snyder, Alex Gartner, Geoff Johns, Dan Mazer, Richard Suckle, Deborah Snyder, Phil Lord, Chris Miller, Jon Berg, Denise Di Novi, and Michael Disco will serve as producers on the project. Dan Mazeau was brought on as co-writer, followed by Grahame-Smith and Brancato as additional screenwriters. The directors had initially announced the release of The Flash to be sometime during 2020, though production was delayed from April 2019 to later in the year for additional script work. By February 2019, Daley and Goldstein had contributed to the script with the film's star revealing that the plot will involve the Speed Force multiverse. Principal photography is scheduled take place in Atlanta, Georgia, and follow in Leavesden, Hertfordshire, England. In March, Ezra Miller was hired to co-write a new draft in a collaboration with Grant Morrison. The tone of the film is expected to be similar to Back to the Future. The Flash is on track to release in 2021.
Lobo
In September 2009, Warner Bros. announced that Guy Ritchie would direct a live-action adaptation. Variety described the premise: "Lobo is a seven-foot tall, blue-skinned, indestructible and heavily muscled antihero who drives a pimped out motorcycle, and lands on Earth in search of four fugitives who are bent on wreaking havoc. Lobo teams with a small town teenage girl to stop the creatures." Ritchie was scheduled to begin production of Lobo in early 2010 and bring an "irreverent, gruff tone" to the film as he did with previous films Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch, though the studio was reportedly aiming for a PG-13 rating from the Motion Picture Association of America. In early 2010, it was reported that Ritchie had left the project in order to pursue working on a sequel to his hit film Sherlock Holmes instead. The future of the movie was then put on hold. In 2012, Deadline reported that Brad Peyton would write and direct the film. In July 2012, Dwayne Johnson announced via Twitter that he was in talks with Joel Silver and Brad Peyton to portray Lobo, however on in February of the following year, Johnson left the project to play another villain from the DC Comics, Black Adam, in Shazam!. In March 2016, it was reported that Jason Fuchs will be writing the film's script. As of February 2018, DC Films is eying Michael Bay to direct the film inspired by the success of Tim Miller's Deadpool film. Fuchs is currently rewriting the script at Bay’s request so that the script can be lowered to under to under $200 million.
Justice League Dark
Rumors in November 2012 suggested that Guillermo del Toro was working on a Justice League Dark film titled Heaven Sent. It would feature Deadman, the Spectre, Swamp Thing, John Constantine, Phantom Stranger, Zatanna, Zatara, Sargon the Sorcerer, and Etrigan the Demon. Del Toro later confirmed in January 2013 that he was working on such a film, with the working title, Dark Universe, and was hiring a screenwriter. Del Toro revealed Swamp Thing, Constantine, The Spectre, Deadman, Zatanna and Zatara were characters in the story.
In March 2013, del Toro gave an update on the film at WonderCon 2013, while talking about his film Pacific Rim. He revealed that the story bible was complete and he hoped to start the screenplay soon. Production would begin after his next project, Crimson Peak. The film's story would center around John Constantine recruiting Swamp Thing, Etrigan the Demon, Deadman, Spectre, and Zatanna. The film would not be an origin story, with each character already established and elements of their backstory coming into play throughout the film. Del Toro also revealed that Floronic Man would be in the film. In May 2013, del Toro revealed that his script featured Constantine, Swamp Thing, Madame Xanadu, Deadman and Zatanna as the team, with others "in the mix". He also revealed that he was still waiting for the go-ahead from Warner Bros. Pictures. Del Toro revealed in July 2013 that he hoped that the DC Extended Universe, which started with Man of Steel, would become as cohesive as the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and he added that if there was any correlation to that universe and this film, he would honor it.
In October 2013, del Toro stated he felt his film would be able to coexist with the television series, Constantine and reiterated that the film was still active and in the writing process. In July 2014, del Toro once again stated he was working on the film, and stated it would be independent from the universe established with Man of Steel, saying, "DC and Warners have been very clear that they are trying to keep [this film and Sandman] separate so when the time comes they can unite them, once they know they’re quantifiable." Del Toro also added that his Constantine would not adhere to the continuity established in the television series, but he would consider incorporating elements from it, and even think about casting the same actor (Matt Ryan). In November 2014, del Toro confirmed that the script was complete and handed it in to Warner Bros. to be reviewed. In December 2014, he hinted that the film would be part of the DC Extended Universe.
In April 2015, del Toro said the script revision has been handed in and if there was availability in his schedule, he would direct it; if not, "somebody else will do it... [The film] needs to fall into the plan of the shared universe." In June 2015, the film was confirmed to still be in development at Warner Bros., with some of their other Vertigo Comics film adaptations moving to New Line Cinema. The Hollywood Reporter stated that del Toro was no longer attached to the project. In July 2016, Swamp Thing test footage was released directed by Joseph Kahn. In August 2016, it was announced that Doug Liman would direct the film with del Toro and Scott Rudin producing and Michael Gilio writing, with the film being titled Dark Universe. By May 2017, Liman left the film to focus on directing Chaos Walking. At the San Diego Comic-Con in July 2017, the film's title was announced to be Justice League Dark. By August 2017, Gerard Johnstone was hired to polish the script.
Black Adam
In September 2014, after being considered to play Shazam and Lobo, Dwayne Johnson was cast to play Black Adam in the DCEU. The character was intended to be introduced in Shazam!, but by January 2017 the film's production studios had chosen to divide the narrative to focus on Black Adam's origin. Johnson, who is also attached as producer, has stated the two characters will cross paths in a future film, while other DC characters will make appearances in Black Adam. In October, Adam Sztykiel was hired to write the script. Co-producer Hiram Garcia stated the film will be gritty and violent, similar to the comics. By February 2019, the script was nearly finished with Warner Bros. and Seven Bucks Productions searching for a director. The plot will involve the Carter Hall version of Hawkman, Atom Smasher, and Stargirl. Principal photography is scheduled to begin sometime between late 2019 and early 2020.
Justice League sequel
In October 2014, Justice League Part Two was announced, with Zack Snyder returning as director. In June 2016, Deborah Snyder revealed that Justice League would not be one film split in two, leaving the sequel untitled. The film was scheduled to be released on June 14, 2019, but production was pushed back to accommodate The Batman. In October 2017, J. K. Simmons stated that work on the script was in-progress, while in December, Variety reported that there were "no immediate plans" for Snyder to direct. By 2019, Warner Bros. had prioritized standalone films over the project, although Patty Jenkins noted she would be open to directing the next Justice League film. Though Ben Affleck will not play Batman in Matt Reeves' film, he is still signed on to reprise the role for the Justice League sequel.
Green Lantern Corps
A film based on the Green Lantern Corps was announced to be in development in October 2014. In January 2017, David S. Goyer and Justin Rhodes were hired to co-write the screenplay, based on a story by Goyer and Geoff Johns, with Goyer also serving as producer. Warner Bros. described the film as "Lethal Weapon in space". In January 2018, Goyer reaffirmed that despite the franchise's leadership shakeup the film was still in active development. By June 2018, Geoff Johns was hired to do a rewrite on the script, in addition to his role as producer. Johns stated that the script draws inspiration from his work on the New 52 Green Lantern comics. Green Lantern Corps was scheduled for release on July 24, 2020, but is believed to have been delayed.
Man of Steel sequel
In August 2016, The Wrap reported that Warner Bros. put the film in active development as a top priority. The news of a stand-alone Superman film were later confirmed by Dany Garcia, Henry Cavill's manager. While promoting Arrival, Amy Adams confirmed that work had begun on the screenplay. In March 2017, it was announced that Matthew Vaughn was being eyed by Warner Bros. to direct. In April 2018, it was reported that Christopher McQuarrie is considering directing the film but later dropped it. In June 2018, Cavill revealed that he is preparing to reprise the role.
Booster Gold
In September 2015, a film centered around Booster Gold and the Ted Kord Blue Beetle was announced to be in development with producer Greg Berlanti. The film's tone was described as a buddy cop film with connections to Justice League. By May 2016, Zak Penn had begun work on a script. Berlanti stated that the project had "no connective tissue" to other films at one point, but following a consideration for television series adaptation at Syfy, the project entered a script rewrite from Zack Stentz in May 2016. Berlanti was asked about his involvement with the DCEU as a whole, and indicated that he has interest in the Booster Gold film. After years of being involved in the project's development, Berlanti was reported to be in negotiations with the studio to serve as director. By March 2018, the script, co-written by Berlanti, had been completed. Berlanti stated production would begin once Warner Bros. decides where to place it within the slate of films.
Gotham City Sirens
A film based on the Gotham City Sirens, a team consisting of Harley Quinn, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy, was announced to be in development in December 2016. David Ayer signed on as director/co-producer from a script by Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Margot Robbie will reprise her role from Suicide Squad and take the role of an executive producer, while Geoff Johns and Jon Berg will produce. Production was originally scheduled to begin in mid-2017, but following the restructuring of DC Films leadership the film's development was placed on hold in favor of Birds of Prey. In August 2017, Jared Leto was confirmed to reprise his role as the Joker. Despite a busy production schedule on other projects, Ayer has continued to work on the film, meeting with Gotham City Sirens creator Paul Dini in August 2018.
Deadshot
In December 2016, The Hollywood Reporter noted that a film centered around Deadshot was in development. By September 2018, Will Smith confirmed he would reprise his role from Suicide Squad and that the story is in development.
Nightwing
On February 23, 2017, it was reported that Warner Bros. Pictures was developing a Nightwing live action movie centered on the character, set in the DC Extended Universe, with Bill Dubuque writing the script and The LEGO Batman Movie director Chris McKay signed on to direct the movie.
Discussing why he likes the character and signed on for the project, McKay cited the character's showman personality and background as an entertainer and expressed his excitement for depicting that in the film. He later stated that he wants to introduce a complete adaptation of the character, something that hasn't been done in previous film interpretations of him before. McKay continued to state that the director-driven approach is why he loves Warner Bros., and how the franchise is differentiating itself from other popular shared universes. In an interview with Cinemablend, McKay confirmed that the film would acknowledge the titular character's past from the source material, including his time as a part of Haly's Circus, and also reaffirmed that the film will be a straightforward action movie with minimal use of CGI special effects and grounded realism.
In February 2018, McKay stated the script was nearing its final draft.
Batgirl
In March 2017, it was announced that Joss Whedon was in talks to write, direct and produce a Batgirl film as part of the DC Extended Universe. The film will feature the Barbara Gordon incarnation of the character, with The New 52 comics by Gail Simone serving as "a starting point" for the film. In April 2017, Whedon stated that he was fascinated by a character that chooses to be a vigilante, even though she hadn't suffered any tragedies in her life like Batman, and that the damaged aspect of the character will be explored in the film. In July, Geoff Johns stated production on the film would begin in 2018. At San Diego Comic Con 2017, the title was announced to be Batgirl.
Whedon was to begin production on the film in 2018, but stepped down in February 2018. In April 2018, after impressing the studio with her work on Birds of Prey, Christina Hodson was hired as screenwriter for Batgirl as well. The studio is actively looking for a female director.
Deathstroke
In October 2017, TheWrap reported a film centered around Deathstroke was in development, with Gareth Evans attached as screenwriter and director and Joe Manganiello set to reprise his role from Justice League. Ben Affleck released test footage with Manganiello in costume in August 2016. Warner Bros. greenlit the film after Evans impressed executives with his story pitch, which he described as dark and unforgiving, similar to Korean noir films. However, in October 2018, Evans stated that he is yet to be attached to the project contractually.
New Gods
By March 2018, a film about the New Gods was confirmed to be in development, with Ava DuVernay signed on as director. Kario Salem was hired as screenwriter after working on a story treatment with DuVernay.
Supergirl
In August 2018, a film centered on Supergirl, was announced to be in development with Oren Uziel penning the script. Warner Bros. is seeking a female director, with Reed Morano—who has expressed interest in the project—being its top choice.
Blue Beetle
By November 2018, a film centered around the Jaime Reyes incarnation of Blue Beetle was in development. Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer and Zev Foreman are respectively attached as screenwriter and executive producer.
Plastic Man
By December 2018, a Plastic Man film was in development with Amanda Idoko hired to write the script. The plot is described as a comedy-action adventure.
Wonder Woman 1984 sequel
In January 2019, after principal photography on Wonder Woman 1984 was completed, director and co-writer Patty Jenkins stated the plot for a third Wonder Woman film had been mapped out. She revealed that the story arc for Wonder Woman had been planned over three films, with the third taking place in the present.
The Trench
In February 2019, Warner Bros. announced a horror spin-off from Aquaman focusing on the villainous Trench kingdom. Peter Safran and James Wan are set to produce, with Noah Gardner and Aidan Fitzgerald acting as screenwriters. The film is expected to have a lower production budget compared to other DC-based films. The following month, Safran said he expects the film to be released before Aquaman 2.
Blackhawk
In April 2018, it was announced that Steven Spielberg will produce/direct a film adaptation of Blackhawk for Warner Bros., with the screenplay being written by David Koepp. Spielberg will co-produce the film with Kristie Macosko Krieger and Sue Kroll.
Shazam! sequel
Following the success of Shazam!, in April 2019 a sequel was announced. Henry Gayden is returning as screenwriter, while David F. Sanberg and Peter Safran are expected to reprise their duties as director and producer, respectively. Mark Strong will reprise his role as Dr. Sivana. Michelle Borth confirmed she will reprise her role as Lady Shazam, as part of a five-picture Warner Bros. contract.

How it all happened
In 2015, Patty Jenkins accepted an offer to direct Wonder Woman, based on a screenplay by Allan Heinberg and a story co-written by Heinberg, Zack Snyder, Geoff Johns and Jason Fuchs. Of this version, Gadot stated that,
for a long time, people didn't know how to approach the story. When Patty and I had our creative conversations about the character, we realized that Diana can still be a normal woman, one with very high values, but still a woman. She can be sensitive. She is smart and independent and emotional. She can be confused. She can lose her confidence. She can have confidence. She is everything. She has a human heart.
This version was conceived of as a prequel to the first live-action, theatrical appearance of Wonder Woman, in the 2016 film, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, placing Wonder Woman in the 1910s and World War I (a decision which differs from her comic book origins as a supporter of the Allies during World War II). As for story development, Jenkins credits the stories by the character's creator William Moulton Marston in the 1940s and George Perez's seminal stories in the 1980s in which he modernized the character. In addition, it follows some aspects of DC Comics' origin changes in The New 52 reboot, where Diana is the daughter of Zeus. Jenkins cited Richard Donner's Superman as an inspiration.
Filming and Locations
Production began on November 21, 2015, under the working title Nightingale. Among the film sets were Lower Halstow, Kent, Australia House, and the Sassi di Matera, Castel del Monte and Camerota in Southern Italy. Matthew Jensen was the director of photography, filming in the United Kingdom, France and Italy. Production in London ended on March 13, 2016. On March 20, 2016, filming was underway in Italy. In late April, filming took place at a museum in France, where a Wayne Enterprises truck was spotted alongside Gadot. Production ended on May 9, 2016. Patty Jenkins and director of photography Matt Jensen revealed that the film's look was inspired by painter John Singer Sargent. Reshoots took place in November 2016, while Gadot was five months pregnant. A green cloth was placed over her stomach to edit out her pregnancy during post-production.
To find the perfect location to shoot the Amazon island of Themyscira, the birthplace of Wonder Woman herself, the film's producers searched all over the world, finally settling on the Amalfi Coast: a stretch of coastline on the Tyrrhenian Sea, located in the Province of Salerno in Southern Italy. It was chosen because most beaches in the world that sit below big cliffs disappear beneath the tide for part of every day. Production designer Aline Bonetto and her location manager Charles Somers considered 47 countries and visited several of them before they found what they were looking for. Bonetto explained that, "Italy had beautiful weather, a beautiful blue-green sea, not too much tide, not too much wave. Our effects team added some cliffs in post-production, and it was the perfect way to go".
Distribution
It was distributed by Warner Bros.Pictures
Wonder Woman had its world premiere on May 15, 2017 in Shanghai. It premiered on May 25, 2017 in Los Angeles. The film's London premiere, which was scheduled to take place on May 31 at the Odeon Leicester Square, was cancelled due to the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing. The film had its Latin America premiere in Mexico City on May 27. It was released in most of the world, including in IMAX, on June 2, 2017, after originally being scheduled for June 23. Belgium, Singapore and South Korea received the film first, with May 31 openings. On April 17, it was announced that Wonder Woman would be released in China on June 2, the same day as its North American release.

Critical Response
On review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, the film has an approval rating of 89% based on 135 reviews, with a weighted average of 7.7/10. The site's critical consensus reads, "Lady Macbeth flashes some surprising toughness beneath its period exterior, bolstered by a mesmerizing – and unforgiving – central performance by Florence Pugh." On Metacritic, which assigns an average rating to reviews, the film has a weighted score of 76 out of 100, based on 37 critics, indicating "generally favorable reviews".
Guy Lodge of Variety said "Florence Pugh announces herself as a major talent to watch in William Oldroyd's impressively tough-minded Victorian tragedy." Mick LaSalle of The San Francisco Chronicle writes "Oldroyd's approach to Lady Macbeth guarantees some longueurs as the film wears on. But the clarity with which Pugh and Oldroyd communicate Katherine's thoughts and motives maintains a solid interest throughout."

The UK could help finance the construction of a prison in Albania to house offenders sent back to the country from British jails.
Albanians make up the largest foreign national group in UK jails, with more than 1,500 behind bars in England and Wales making up around 10 per cent of total inmates from overseas.
British and Albanian justice ministers Chris Philp and Etilda Gjonaj last week approved a prisoner transfer agreement that will allow offenders from either side to be sent back to their home countries to serve out their full sentences.
But Ms Gjonaj revealed in an interview with the west Balkan country’s media that the discussions also touched on the possibility of financial assistance from London to house returned felons – many of them convicted of involvement with criminal gangs active in drug-smuggling and people trafficking.
With very few UK nationals in Albanian prisons, the transfer of offenders is likely to be largely one-way, and Tirana is understood to be concerned about the additional financial burden that the arrangement could create.
Ms Gjonaj told an interviewer that British ministers “welcomed my proposal for the UK to build a prison in Albania or renovate an existing prison”.

Discussions are understood to be at an early stage, and the Ministry of Justice declined to confirm or deny whether the proposal was raised in last week’s talks.
But an offer of financial help would not be unprecedented.
In 2015, David Cameron offered Jamaica around £25m from the UK’s aid budget to part-fund a prison for offenders returned from Britain, though the deal was eventually rejected by the administration in Kingston. Since then, discussions have taken place with Nigeria about funding for a jail in Lagos, though again the proposal came to nothing.
Under the terms of last week’s agreement, Albanian authorities will have to foot the bill for housing returned offenders in its own jails, saving the UK taxpayer an average £44,600 per inmate.
Mr Philp, said: “We are committed to removing foreign criminals who have abused our hospitality and inflicted misery on our communities.
“Someone who commits a serious crime in the UK should be barred from returning so that the taxpayer no longer has to pay for them and victims can be confident justice has been done.”
No legislation is required to put the agreement into effect, and ministers expect transfers under the scheme to begin in the autumn.
Since January 2019, the UK has removed 7,985 foreign national offenders from prisons, immigration removal centres and the community.
The deal with Albania builds on an earlier agreement and means that offenders must spend at least the same amount of time in custody as they were sentenced to by a judge in the UK.
It also clarifies that prisoners can be transferred without their consent.

Synopsis : ^DOWNLOAD EBOOK^ 200 Women: Who Will Change The Way You See The World Ebook READ ONLINE
Two hundred women from a variety of backgrounds are asked the same five questions. Their answers are inspiring human stories of success and courage, love and pain, redemption and generosity. From well-known activists, artists, and innovators to everyday women whose lives are no less exceptional for that, each woman shares her unique replies to questions like 'What really matters to you?' and 'What would you change in the world if you could?' Interviewees include conservation and animal welfare activist Jane Goodall, actor and human rights advocate Alfre Woodard, along with those who are making a difference behind the scenes around the world, such as Marian Wright Edelman, head of the Children's Defense Fund. Each interview is accompanied by a photographic portrait, resulting in a volume that is compelling in word and image—and global in its scope and resonance. This landmark book is published to coincide with an immersive traveling exhibition and an interactive website, building on this remarkable, ever-evolving project. With responses ranging from uplifting to heartbreaking, these women offer gifts of empowerment and strength—inviting us to bring positive change at a time when so many are fighting for basic freedom and equality.

REVIEW
Through the history of american comic-books, it was mostly the artists that had the chance to shine. There are a few very iconic examples of this. The most obvious would be the Marvel Age, when artists would pretty much plot the whole story only for the writer to provide a small treatment and dialogues. Then we had the superstars of Image Comics (in the early days), they had a very specific art style, and it was more important than the story. Then we have very good pairings of writers and artists, like Moore and Gibbons, Wein and Brightson, Grant and Breyfogle, Claremont and Byrne, Wolfman and Perez, Simon and Kirby... there are a lot of examples of those pairings, and I think those are the ones that make comic books shine as a medium. That’s how they are supposed to be.
But sometimes, writers will try to shine on their own terms. Not many writers have the chance to shine without the artists. Geoff Jones, Grant Morrison, Alan Moore, they manage to add a little extra something that only they can do. I think James Robinson is in that category.
James Robinson plotted a comic book that would be complete by the end of its more than 70 issues. And throughout the series, he would add the Shade journal bits. This issue, I found the journal to be more emotional than the actual story. And it’s not completely separated from it, it really complements it. We see the Shade acting like a real hero in the main story, and then we have the journal, showing us that this has been a long process, of him becoming less and less evil in recent years. Adding the journal helps a lot, because we are dealing with an immortal, and sometimes, redeeming a character in a comic book can feel too rushed.
Of course Harris and Von Grawbadger do an excellent job as well. And we should be grateful that they were a stable art team for this book.
I give this issue a score of 9

Hurst: Nonsense I wouldn't want England to win
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/1fa9b60b51ef28d84cc616879b2c7684/9483b9eac54ab346-be/s540x810/b30f8b451399bba4df4037d0d9315b4e01aff1e7.jpg)
Sir Geoff Hurst is fully behind Gareth Southgate's England side claiming a first major title since 1966, saying anything other than his 100 per cent backing would be "nonsense".The Three Lions will face Italy at Wembley on Sunday in their first major final in 55 years after beating Denmark 2-1 in extra-time on Wednesday night to book their place. England have never played in a European Championship final and will be looking to win just their second piece of major silverware after winning the 1966 World Cup.And should they do so, the triumph would be up there with the legends of Sir Alf Ramsey's side with Hurst more than happy to share the footballing limelight with a new set of heroes."The cynics will look at me and say that I don't want England to do well, win the World Cup or the Euros which is absolute nonsense," Sir Geoff Hurst said. "I understand more than anyone how important it is for our national team to be successful, for themselves and for the country. "So I am a fan and I want us to do well and to win - that's what I was brought up to do as a player and what I want us to do as a fan now. "I am as thrilled and as happy if we are doing well in tournaments as any other fan in England."Hurst, who still gets fan mail from across the globe for his achievements over five decades ago, says winning silverware with England was lifechanging."The enjoyment, of winning a World Cup in your own country, simply lasts forever," Hurst added."Hardly a day goes by, almost daily and just as much today as weeks or months after winning it that the euphoria is still there and the memories of it are brought up by someone."It's astonishing really what happened back then is still affecting my life today."
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/1fa9b60b51ef28d84cc616879b2c7684/9483b9eac54ab346-be/s540x810/b30f8b451399bba4df4037d0d9315b4e01aff1e7.jpg)
0:52 Sir Geoff Hurst has been impressed by Italy’s strong team spirit which has helped them to a Euro 2020 final showdown with England at Wembley on Sunday 'Togetherness is key to win a major tournament'Much of England's success under Southgate has been down the England boss' ability to shake off the shackles of inter-club rivalries to create a fully harmonious squad. But for Hurst, another side's team spirit appears to stand-out even more - that of fellow finalists Italy who have been galvanised together by former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini."Fundamentally I have always believed very strongly that the team spirit, camaraderie and togetherness of a group of players is very important to be successful." Hurst said."I look at the current Italian team and I find their celebrations are tumultuous where the whole squad, as soon as they have a result and success they are altogether - more so than in the celebrations we have seen with the other teams."And that is fundamental to being successful - that togetherness."Podcast: It's nearly home... How the 'new England' could go all the way Drink it in... England are in a major tournament final for the first time since 1966 after their extra-time win over Denmark at Wembley in semi-final of Euro 2020.Kate Burlaga is joined by Rob Dorsett, Pete Smith and Nick Wright to discuss an historic night, and whether this 'new England' side can go all the way against Italy on Sunday.Listen and subscribe on your podcast provider Read the full article
