Okay so if you’re transmasc and like sci-fi, please check out the book Luminous by Silvia Park once it comes out. I read it back in October and became irrevocably obsessed with it. It’s so fucking good. I preordered a hardcover copy, an audiobook copy, hell I even got my therapist to preorder it.

It’s a sci-fi novel set in a unified Korea about three estranged siblings: Morgan, the youngest, an android designer who is about to launch her newest line of child robots and is dating one of her own android creations in secret; Jun, the middle child, a trans man missing 90% of his bionic body after surviving an explosion, putting question into whether trans people can mourn the body they never had a chance to transition into, even though they might now have the cis-passing body of their dreams; and Yoyo, the eldest child, an android so life-like he’s very nearly human, who disappeared when Jun and Morgan were still children. It’s an amazing book with a heavy critique on consumerism. It made me cry.

Anyway you should preorder it. It was great

I went to Barnes and Nobel today and didn’t get these but still want to talk about them

This one has NEOPRONOUN REPRESENTATION!!!!! It was also in the Children’s section (not the YA section) which is cool as hell because there isn’t a lot, if any Neopronoun representation in media, especially children’s media. (If you didn’t see from me violently shaking the book, the character uses e/em/eir pronouns). I don’t typically read books like that but I might get it next time I go just to expand what I normally read. __________________________________

When I first picked up this book, I expected lesbians but NO, it's QPR REPRESENTATION!!!! I don’t think I’ve ever seen any Queer Platonic Relationship representation EVER!!!!! I literally nearly shat myself because it’s DIFFERENT QUEER REPRESENTATION!!!! I also didn’t get this one but might keep it in mind for the next time I go to Barnes and Nobel.

Now, I’m not a Neopronoun user OR an Aromantic/AroAce person, but I still love that there are books with this stuff for the person that NEED to see themselves in media. I know I would have liked see more Lesbian media when I was growing up because that would have lead to a LOT less confusion in Middle School. REPRESENTATION MATTERS, PEOPLE!!! To see these people who literally have existed for a while FINALLY get the representation they need is just so damn refreshing. Obviously, discrimination in and out of the queer community towards these groups isn’t cured, but I still think this is a step in the right direction.

ok guys I need some help. there was this book I had as a kid that I was OBSESSED with but I can't remember what it was called. it was like a big three-ring binder and had a bunch of different sections, like jokes, and puns, and science facts, and craft ideas, and prank ideas. it was I think mainly dark purple or blue and I remember that it was more a glorified 3-ring binder than a normally bound book. does anyone know what I'm talking about?? I had it in like, 2009/10ish I think, if that helps

Does anyone know this book series, and it was an old one I want to say 90's probably? That was about this cat who found a group of wild forrest cats, integrated with them and found his mate (no I am NOT talking about warrior cats keep reading)

Only for the second book him and his mate end up going into the city and they struggle as stray cats there???

I think by this point they have kids too, four or three of them???

It reminds me of warrior cats but it came before warrior cats and the wild cats were not at all as structured nor was their separate clans or anything

My husband and I traveled to see a close friend for a surprise birthday party. On our way we stopped at Attic Books and I found some treasures.

Also I had a chance to chat with the curator of https://lmmonline.org/

He was gathering unpublished poems and short stories by LM and had found a chapel published slim book with one of LM's poems in there. Spring Days?

Another fellow was a die-hard fan of LM and he had a Green Gables tattoo and a "I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers. " quote.

Later we went to Juniper Books and I had another lucky find.

The cashier showed me a signed copy of Jane of Lantern Hill!!!

and the owner apparently had a rare copy of Anne of Green Gables and another I think Anne's House of Dreams...

Anyway it was a spectacular weekend , photo posts to come.

Interesting Find:

Okay so I got a book from a charity shop today, “Thorn Ogres of Hagwood” by Robin Jarvis.

I bought it because the map illustration inside gave me major Hobbit vibes and I love that type of fantasy books but anyway

Inside the book I have found an adorable handwritten letter addressed to “dearest Fairymouse” from somebody called Aufy with cute illustrations. The notes talk about a publishing company as well as the covers of the book series (there was no dustcover when I got it so idk what those covers look like), along with MCM and something called Women of the Wild.

Idk of anyone can help me, I've been trying to find a book I read when I was younger for years now, but its like it doesn't exist!! I've even tried websites that are meant to help but to no avail. I swear it was called "The Queens Dollmaker" or something along those lines but the only book that pops up is not it.

Info below for anyone who just wants to scroll past

It starts off with an Irish family during the potato famine, and they're all trying to get by, one family I specifically remember built a shed to try to dry meats or something in and their landlord raised rent and refused to allow them to tear it down to restore their rent.

The main characters family gets tickets on a ship to America, and they are shy by just one ticket so she send them off and promises to find a way, which she quickly stumbles upon a too-good-to-be-true free passage on an extreemely crowded ship.

Upon arrival everyone on board is told they'll be indentured servants until they pay off their passage, one lady insisting MC goes into prostitution. MC manages somehow to just be a cleaning lady and with what little belongings she brought along begins making little dolls and selling them in secret for money. She eventually buys her freedom, and keeps making and selling dolls, gaining affluence and if I remember right buying other people's freedom from that ship.

Eventually the lady who tried to get her to be a prostitute comes by her shop, begging for food as she is incredibly sick and elderly (gums covered in sores and pus, very little to no teeth) and MC does help the lady. At this point she is making dolls for the queen of England.

I don't recall if she ever does meet up with her family again, but I desperately want to read this story again. If anyone can help I'd be eternally grateful 🙏 ��
