stature, day & alternate for Ima Shett
Yes! Thank you! I love my lil train wreck~
stature: What's your OC's body type? How tall are they? Do they wear clothing to accentuate their look or do they try to mask it?
I picture Ima and being on the shorter side, and she would see herself as skinny. I would imagine she would wear clothes to make her look bigger, in a more "womanly/matronly/mature" way. She would want to appear older than she is, and I see her wearing dresses passed down from her mother, so the styles might be older.
day: What does your OC wear on a normal day? Why do they default to those clothes? Do they wear similar things, or do they change it up?
But, also in a peacocking way. Wearing extra accessories and types of jewelry to go all out and make a good impression (in her mind) when in reality, it's probably pretty clashy. Before moving to the Capitol, (if she does that in the version of the AU) she would probably expand her wardrobe to match the wealthier ladies at court. Her family had given a lordship because they had money, but its not endless. If she is a simple county-lady, she would have the standard 2-3 daily outfits, one formal thing, one for morning. If she was a country lady, she would be much more interested in the quality of the items, she would have less options in the staples that she would wear, but they would be very high quality. And her style and color preferences is probably tacky, I can just tell...they're house color is BROWN, so she probably pairs lots of things with browns...
alternate: What would your OC's alternate universe look be? If they're a fantasy character, what's their modern look? If they're sci-fi, what's their fantasy look? What AU would you want to see your OC in, and how would they dress themself? Bonus: Prompt an AU!
⬆️⬆️⬆️
In Other News: I've decided I need to make another character with the first name "Ima" so she can meet them and be all "NO! That's MY name! Mother said she made it up special just for ME!" and have a tantrum about it :o

💙Smoshblr December Asks Day 18💛
What are your top 3 fave clothes, that you currently own? (can be faves for any reason, like comfort, smth you love to wear on special occasions, etc. 🤗)
Bonus: What are your top 3 fave accessories? (like jewelry, belts, bags, etc. 👜)
oh my god....... this is so hard bc i am a Fashion Girlie. but i digress. have some gpoys as well to showcase the Fits bc i am Proud of Them
the first is this cropped sweatshirt that says practice safe hex. i love her. SO much. i study witchcraft (one day ill practice. one day.) and i think this shirt is so funny and the and when fall hits? im a menace this is all i wear. (bonus shoutout to the patterned jeans in that pic bc they'd probably be my fourth pick for this list i LOVE those jeans.)
second is this brown corduroy skirt!! this is a more recent addition to my closet (i think i got it like last year?) and i wear it all the time. it is sitting on my bed to be put away from the wash rn. it's so cute and simple and goes with so many different things. ive got this outfit i really like to do with it (but no pics of the full thing unfortch) i call my shaggy fit where i wear this with like a lil green tank top sweater combo and its SUCH a cute winter/fall fit. (also this picture peeps one of my weeb tattoos so enjoy xx)
third and finally i cannot believe this is the best picture i have of this stupid thing (censored the face and an identifying landmark in the background LKNFKNSFLKNR) BUT this lil plaid overshirt? i have had that thing since i was literally... 13. so like 12 years and i STILL wear it ALLLLLL of the time. showing my arms makes me Uncomfy so this thing is a lifesaver. and i also wear a lot of plain black clothing so if smth needs a lil spice? ya just throw this bad boy on. plain black dress? plaid overshirt. lil romper? plaid overshirt. plain t-shirt? plaid overshirt. she's everything to me.
OH BOY OH BOY okay so two of these are like. staples to my wardrobe and the other one is. just for fun!
so the first one - my best friend handmade this for my birthday. this is my very own clown collar!!!!!! katie lore drop incoming - i am obsessed with clowns. i have a clown collection and a clown tattoo. so of course when she went to knit me smth she made me this!! i have not had the occasion to wear it but. im manifesting it soon (i will say she gave me this While i was dressed as a clown)
the second picture is of my class rings. (don't worry they've been heavily censored i'm not doxxing myself <3) the lighting is terrible and they also. don't leave my hands so the gems are grody as hell but the gems are blue zircon (my brother and mother's birthstone) and amethyst. im not even like. very proud of being an alumni from my schools but they remind me how hard i fought and all i learned to be where i am today and honestly. i love a ring! i love a ring moment and i wish i wore more so. class rings stick around.
and FINALLY. oh Boy oh Boy. i can talk about this thing for hours. this is my backpack. it is Covered in pins and keychains (spot all my special interests in there....... so many things....) and i take it Everywhere with me. this is actually the Third iteration of this backpack - i had a black backpack that all these pins were on (it broke tragically), then his white backpack had different pins, and now we've moved the black backpack pins onto the white backpack. im a bag enthusiast and a pin collector (i have so many pins....... so many) so i have multiple bags with pins all over them but. these pins are my faves.
ANYWAY. sorry ab being so extra but i love all these things soooo yeah <3<3<3

was going to ask canvas for esme but. you know. so wardrobe and alternate!
em i laughed really hard at that thank you gsdjdks
(ask game)
wardrobe: How big is your character's wardrobe? Do they wear things threadbare, or can they afford new clothes often? Are they any good at mending and repairing their own clothing?
Maybe two weeks of clothes, not that anyone can notices because she wears the same thing pretty consistently, and the big things that might draw the eye (the jacket, boots) are staples. She tends to buy new, but that's because she buys from like. Costco. 3-pack of t-shirts in muted grey/green/blue sort of deal. She is well off so she can definitely afford fancier clothing, but that stands out so she doesn't. Also she doesn't care. Because she wears fast fashion she doesn't normally bother to repair, but with some pieces she's really careful and can indeed mend them.
alternate: What would your OC's alternate universe look be? If they're a fantasy character, what's their modern look? If they're sci-fi, what's their fantasy look? What AU would you want to see your OC in, and how would they dress themself? Bonus: Prompt an AU!
I went to a random AU generator and got
I cannot suggest this is coherent, but there was this 1890s zombie apocalypse homestead rattling around in my brain for a while. Bring it to the present day and Esmé would be a vibe for it ngl. A large grey poncho that hides a bulletproof vest with a cowl she can flip up to double as a gas mask. Gloves with some sort of backing to her knuckles woven into it. Under it, a grey tank top and plaid, black pants and combat boots (already canon for her lmao) Also a giant shotgun she levels at someones (probably Ortega's) face, which is not an accessory per se but is integral to my enjoyment of this outfit.
update on that i have thought about it too hard and now i have an au! whoops! anyway. Thank you for the ask em <3

2023 Fashion Predictions
Happy 2023! I've seen these trend prediction videos on my TikTok fyp, and they're so fun to see. Many of these trend predictions could just be things the creator wants to incorporate into their personal style. Now let's get into some of my predictions!
Seashells + pearls in accessories
Now, pearls have been having a big moment right now, so I definitely envision seashells being added to the mix to emphasize that iridescent look. I predict we are moving towards a mix between the dark siren aesthetic, and a more venus/aphrodite type of beach style. A mix of elegant and dark, similar to what we saw with balletcore. It'll also be really fun to DIY (I actually made a seashell choker similar to popular heart ribbon chokers going around).
Mix and Match Jewelry
I want to see more gold + silver jewelry, velvet or chord chokers with a long gold necklace, gem necklaces with velvet or silk ribbons, lace ribbons with gold necklaces, etc. It's a fun juxtaposition, especially at a time when people are exploring their style outside of the imaginary "rules of fashion". Mixing metals and fabrics together will be a fun way to play with different tones, textures, and shapes.
Peachy tones
I'm feeling like this will be big spring/summer as the peach tones will complement everyone's sunkissed skin. I can see it being in crochet, ruffled, silk, pleated, and mesh tops often. Style-wise, it could work with both silver and gold accessories. A muted peach that leans more toward nude, would look good with silver jewelry, diamonds, or even pearls. The warmer, more orange-toned peaches would pair nicely with a stack of gold jewelry.
3-D floral details
I know the big floral chokers have started to make their way onto the scene. Because of that, floral pins, necklaces, and straps will be a fun addition to this. This is gonna be another trend that will be easy to customize and DIY because all it takes is some glue or a sewing needle to turn your basic items into a floral statement piece.
Magenta with dark tones
I love magenta clothing, it's so stunning and really draws you in. This year I want to see people play around with the color more, maybe pair it with darker colors and neutrals. I'm talking deep red, black, brown, and silver. Baby pink has been pretty big right now with the ballet core and coquette style, I'm ready for magenta to have a similar moment.
3-D heels/mules
Little charms, butterflies, flowers, etc. right at the top of the shoe is gonna be a fun way to let the shoes be the star of the show. I can see these being the next thing people look for when buying heels secondhand. Either that or people will get crafty and DIY their own little 3-D heel charms.
Play purses
Printed purses with a bunch of embellishments and funky hardware or plain purses with a bunch of keychains and accessories are gonna be a great addition to any simple outfit.
Asymmetrical drapey/tattered hems
Going along with this transition into Venusian kinda beachside mermaid aesthetic, the long hems that kinda look like a tail will make for an interesting silhouette. *Bonus prediction is that green will be a pretty frequent color used in this style*
Face Masks
It goes with every outfit, it keeps your face warm in the winter, and most importantly, it protects you and others from the spread of covid and other illnesses! To me, that sounds like a staple accessory that should not be left behind. I've seen plenty of cute disposable face mask designs, ombre, graphic print, cartoon characters, or just solid colors that complement the rest of your outfits.
In conclusion...
I'm excited to see what I myself and many others will be exploring in this new year. This year everyone is going to continue to have a lot of personalized/customized items (crocheting, sewing, bejeweling, embroidering, etc.)

If you've been following me for a minute, you might be wondering "What does an actual capsule wardrobe look like?" So since I finished putting up my Fall capsule, I decided to show off mine! More details below the cut 👇
This fall's capsule is focused on black and white primarily with dark reds, yellows, oranges, and plums/mauves interpersed. For a specific list -
Left: 3 cardigans, 1 hoodie, 4 sweaters, 3 sweatshirts, 7 long sleeve tees, 1 sweater dress, 1 jumpsuit, 3 skirts
Right: 4 blouses, 8 tees, 2 leggings, 2 jeans, 4 pants
In short, 25 tops, 12 bottoms, 4 over-shirts, 2 dresses/jumpsuits, and 2 purses. Some accessories are pictured but are still being refined to a few pieces, likely 4 to make a 50 piece capsule in total, including my daily pair of shoes.
Another personal preference is the inclusion of all the black. It's my favorite color and often rotates through my capsules from season to season. For example, my black jumpsuit was a summer favorite to layer over a tee or sleeveless top. Now it gets to do the same with sweaters.
You may be asking "Why 50 for a capsule?" Because that is the number that works best for me! It's variable for me based on the time of year as well. Far more layers in the fall/winter than in the summer for where I live where it's below freezing for the majority of the winter. Also, you aren't bound to 18, 33, or any amount of pieces if it's not what works for you. Most are between 25-50 pieces. Personally, I need more time between loads of laundry and a bit bigger capsule works better.
As usual, your capsule is only what you intend to wear daily aside from staples like your winter coat and underwear. Behind the mirror are my special event pieces that aren't included in my count because they're for events like weddings and not daily. For myself, I also keep more than just this capsule. I put my excess clothing, such as things I'm not interested in or clothing not fit for the weather right now into storage to be brought back into rotation when I'm ready to use them.
So how do I choose what to use for this capsule? How do I formulate my own capsule beyond how many pieces and their colors? That all depends on preferences! For me, I enjoy skirts sometimes but only on occasion and the same goes for dresses. Both are tougher to do in cold weather too. This is why I only have a few of either. On the other hand, why include a sleeveless blouses if it's cold? For layering purposes. When it's too warm to wear a long sleeve under an overshirt but too cold to go without, a sleeveless shirt is amazing.
I also have tended to include more color for tops opposed to bottoms. The reason for this is because usually season-approprate thick clothing, is made in one color or certain 'wintery patterns' like the houndstooth and plaid patterns included. Sometimes, you have to work with what you have for the season that is still functional for yourself.
My last piece of how I make my capsule more personal is that I have a professional job. I work with a lot of people and I want to look more put-together. However, I do a lot of travel and movement for work so it needs to be comfortable as well. This is where my black pants, nice blouses, and cardigan come in. A tee shirt can look more put together if a cardigan is thrown over top but still be comfortable. Monochrome tends to also be seen as more professional, especially black, so matching dark pants to dark shoes works excellently.
As a bonus, here is what this might look like done as one of my usual capsules (Although obviously abbreviated to fit the formatting). The majority of my clothes are from Shein, Walmart, and Kohl's, specifically the Sonoma line. Unfortunately, all the Shein options are sold out and no link to the others as they were purchased in-store.

Tommy Hilfiger x Zendaya Inspired Outfits: Lookbook no.6
Hi to anyone reading,
This post is part a Zendaya Maree Stoermer Coleman appreaciation post (yes, we getting back into that 2013 stan twitter lingo of always unnecessarily stating full names) and part me trying my hand at her interpretation of probably my all time favourite decade for fashion inspiration, the 70s.
As much as I’m in love with her portrayal of Rue Bennett on Euphoria and her and Labrinth’s All for Love and could also probably write a whole post about that alone *deep breath*, I’m here to talk about what originally drew me to Zendaya (aside from her Oscar-worthy performance as Rocky Blue on Shake it Up where she had to act like she and Bella Thorne liked each other) : HER STYLE. Her looks a collaborative effort between her and stylist, Law Roach, I have never once seen any photo of Zendaya where she’s anything less than exquisitely put together, thus it should’ve come as no surprise when she teamed up with Tommy Hilfiger to put on one of the coolest shows of Paris Fashion Week in February this year.
-ZENDAYA’S BEST STREET STYLE/RED CARPET MOMENTS-
Whilst the collaborations with Tommy Hilfiger haven’t necessarily been the most visually groundbreaking or daring, for me personally they really hit the sweet spot between the bohemian aesthetic and a rock and roll edge, especially in the latest collection. For a celebrity collaboration, the line feels unusually authentic and the clear direction and overall cohesiveness showcases Zendaya’s ability to convey a distinctive mood. Also, it’s WEARABLE. So many of the outfits you see go down the runway only appear to cater to that tall, washed out, willowy type, who are gorgeous too, don’t get me wrong, but...well, they’ve had their time, haven’t they? These are the kinds of clothes everyone can feel beautiful in and that’s so, so important.
-ZENDAYA WEARING THE COLLECTION-
The first collection, debuting in February of this year at Paris Fashion Week, went the disco route and was the best thing Tommy Hilfiger has done in a while. Everything from the set to the models to the music was so fucking FUN and you could tell how much love and passion went into planning the show. I had so many favourite looks:
And I honestly think I might have liked the recent collection even more. With a slightly biker chic element to it, the leather look pieces and the jewell tones, I think this one has a grungier feel to it that the previous collection lacked, in terms of catering to my personal preference, that is; yes, catering to me, random girl on the internet they’ve never met before was definitely Zendaya and Tommy’s intention. Why wouldn’t it be?
Again, it’s not something that’s never been done before but the collection is fresh in a different way, almost like the individual makes the clothes what they are and not vice versa. I doubt any fashion show is so laxly organised as to let the models style themselves backstage but that’s the feeling you get when you’re watching the runway.
Like I said, this collection is definitely slightly darker and grungier than the first but in a way that it gives me Stevie Nicks joins a biker gang but then decides to leave that behind to become the editor of a fashion magazine vibes (that was a TRIP) and what’s not to like about that? I want all of it, from the waistcoats, to the wide brim hats, to the houndstooth, to the snake print, to the shearling.
There’s just one problem in that at the time of first seeing the collection I was still in the middle of a self-enforced shopping dry spell, and also, more pressingly, broke af. To be fair, Tommy Hilfiger is one of the more affordable designer brands but still not affordable enough that I can afford to spend over £100 on a bodysuit, ya feel? So instead, I looked through what I already had and used the runway looks from the collection to try and put my own spin on things, incorporating the key shapes, colours, patterns and accessories that make the line, imo, so distinctive.
-KEY FEATURES OF THE TOMMY X ZENDAYA LINES-
1. Flares: If you really want your outfit to give off a 70s vibe, flares are probably the easiest way to do it. Even if you’re not feeling particularly adventurous with prints, plain ones are still super flattering, imo!
2. Wide Brim Hats: Not exactly a hard one for me to incorporate as they're probably my favourite way to tie together an outfit anyway, but the ultra wide brim, witchy-looking ones seen in the second collection are perfect for autumn and winter AND cost-efficient because they can double as part of a low-effort slutty witch Halloween costume. We love a multi-purpose accessory.
3. Psychedelic Prints: More of a staple of the first collaboration but bold, trippy prints are so easy to make into a look. It’s definitely easier to incorporate these kind of prints into your wardrobe in the summer (there’s nothing cuter than a wacky two piece with some subtle jewellery), but if you go for a piece with a richer, deeper colour palette you’ve got yourself a fab Christmas party outfit.
4. Turtlenecks: Showing why the turtleneck has so much style potential, Zendaya’s collections were a masterclass in how to layer. I can’t believe there was a time in my life when I thought turtle necks were the ugliest thing ever. I am ashamed. Though I blame this cursed face-swap image of Monica and Chandler from friends for putting me off:
I also found this haunting image in the process of searching for the one above:
Is this what they mean when they talk about the dark web? Truly scarring.
5. Snake Print: Not gonna lie, the animal print thing has kinda been done to death and I wasn’t super excited about seeing it on the runway but when it’s reworked through a more maximalist lens (ie. the matching snake print coat and trousers) it still works for me. I think they key in keeping it fresh is more luxurious, textured animal print paired with clothing you wouldn’t necessarily expect to see it with. Basically, animal print mini dress? Boring. Animal print flares? I’m down.
6. Faux Leather: I say faux leather even though unfortunately it’s usually real leather that gets used on the runway (because nothing shows luxury like wearing a dead animal’s skin purely for vanity, right?), but regardless, some of my favourite pieces in both collections were the leather-look coats and blazers. The waistcoat-trouser combination in particular (far left on the bottom row) was probably my favourite look of both collections and though I relentlessly scoured my dad’s wardrobe to see if there was something I could work with to imitate the waistcoat, I came away empty handed:( sad times:(
7. Jewell Tones: The deep maroons of the second Zendaya x Tommy collaboration and the cobalt, emerald green and amethyst splashes in the dresses at the end of the first are, again, perfect Christmas party colours. I know, I know, I keep going on about Christmas parties but any excuse to drink, lol.
8. Scarfs: Skinny scarves with a load of gold jewellery are my favourite things at the moment. But we can’t forget the original style icon who did it first:
I love Emma Roberts and Wild Child is a great movie with a load of amazing style inspo, fuck you Rotten Tomatoes.
9. Heeled Boots: Kind of a basic winter staple anyway but it seems the more cowboy-y, the better. We’re talking about those leather look, mid-calf length boots that seem to be everywhere at the moment. Personally, I’m not quite sure if my legs are anywhere long enough to pull them off, but I do think they’re really cute, and very yeehaw.
10. Bonus features that I forgot to include in my outfits: High Waisted Things! Waistcoats! Pussy-bow shirts! Spots! Velvet! Suits!
-PSA: Don’t ask me about the peace sign. I was trying to do a 70s thing. I failed. Let me flop at my attempts to be cute in peace.-
So, that’s it! Thank you to anybody that read this far! And if you enjoyed this post and you haven’t done already: GO AND WATCH EUPHORIA. It is honestly the best new show I’ve watched in ages and almost makes up for the overwhelming TV-related disappointment of season 8 of Game of Thrones. I mean, not really. I’m still mildly furious. But then again, D&D got cut from their Star Wars deal AND the Stark prequel was cancelled in favour of a Targaryen one so it seems the balance of nature is finally being restored. Clink clink bitch (es).

i hate to ask this (because there’s so many of them) but here goes: which look of nancy’s is your favorite?
Okay this is a tough one, mainly because I REFUSE to choose a single look lol. Whoever sent this, first of all apologies for answering so late, and secondly thank you so much, but you’ll prooooobably regret it :D I tend to go on multiple tangents re things I like, so… enter at your own peril :)
Monsterpost follows:
In terms of day-to-day “work” outfits, I have quiiiite a few. Here comes a long shitty post of assorted ramblings from me about Nancy’s style. I actually wanted to open a blog called NancyPelosiStyleFile at some point, but then I realised that meant I had to actually post nice, organised, well thought out things as opposed to the pell-mell I’m posting now, and I’m lazy, and…yeah lol.
1. This is really more of a category than a single look tbh, b/c all these are pretty much the same dress, but… different :) I really love her work outfits, most of them are so well cut and tailored (thumbs up, Paul :D), and it’s mostly classic, staple pieces that she updates by smart use of colour and accessories. The cut of this dress is basically the cut of all of Audrey Hepburn’s dresses in the 50s and 60s and unless the sci-fi vision of utilitarian clothing comes true (i.e. we’ll all be wearing one variation or another of a jumpsuit *shivers*), it will be fashionable even 50 yrs from now imho.
a) The green dress because… 1) green lol. I’m addicted to green, so that was pretty easy. 2) it fits so well, in that it showcases her most, erm, prominent assets to perfection (I’m trying to be respectful here without calling a spade a spade lol), while also having a slightly loose fit which gives it a sort of flowy and almost casual vibe. I particularly love the ton-sur-ton accesorising here, those agate beads are sthg else entirely.
b) The navy work dress, that neckline is amazing and it looks so prim&proper in a stern-but-fair-teacher way (yeah thanks for not judging me for that remark lol). It’s basically the same cut as the other, but… cleaner somehow, more severe, but also really rather… hot? (or, as Miss Jean Brodie would put it: “for those who like that sort of thing, that is the sort of thing they like” :)))) What I love about this one is that, b/c of that neckline, she gets to wear it in different ways - with a necklace over the collar or with a scarf under it, and it looks different and fresh every time. She really has a knack for tasteful accessorising. I wish she wore this one more.
On a side note, this also introduces the “hot @ funerals” special category… yeah, sorry abt that.
(But seriously, go on ze vast expanse of ze internetz and check out Nancy at funerals lol. You won’t be sorry. And yes, I can appreciate how weird that just sounded lol.)
c) The Red Dress of Absolute Sexiness. I honestly don’t know how she makes work outfits so sexy (well, I do, but that’s another matter altogether :D), but this is one of my favourites - it fits her so well and the use of the detailing in the neck/chest area is so smart because apart from looking really pretty and interesting, it allows the fabric to accommodate… things lol. Love the golden zipper detail as well. I think this dress is probably the one that best showcases her hourglass figure.
Red dress + Hermès scarf = amazing.
Special mentions in no particular order:
The lavender skirt suit - this is totally her colour. While she suits EVERY damn colour in the rainbow (which is frankly quite annoying, because no one is 100% neutral… or so I thought lol), this one complements her complexion to perfection.
Almost all the pantsuits that she wears now, I’m esp. partial to the way she uses scarves and the lining of the jackets and of the raised lapels to colour coordinate with the tops. Here’s an example:
Any of the older suits (esp. the pinstripe one) with crisp white shirts (this was such a look, and now she’s not wearing shirts anymore and…sigh. She really needs to bring them back.)
The Carolina Herrera blue dress or, as I like to call it, “the picnic dress” :) The colour is so pretty and the cut is so girly and playful and it just looks amazing on her.
2. a) As for evening looks, this navy dress is one of my faves, again, the fit is amazing here. It’s really quite surprising to me how very prim and demure outfits look so damn sexy on her, I suspect it’s because of that waist-hip ratio that just draws the eyes :D
b) Also in the evening outfits category, probably the one I love the most because it’s just so… her: this Mugler white ensemble she wore for a State Dinner (or, as she described it, “some very old thing” that was hanging in the back of her closet lol. Let me KonMari your closet, Nancy :D). The cut, the colour, the fabric, the details, I love everything about it, I think it’s just incredible in a very tribute-to-classy-vintage-80s way. Love how the jacket hugs her curves and then slightly flares so gracefully at the hips. This is elegant and demure and refined and imho it’s very… essentially Nancy. I really like that Art Deco-inspired choker with it too, it goes so well with that neckline.
Special mention:
This aqua-turquoise-navy number that looks amazing on her (with bonus Paul and also adorable chipmunk face lol):
3. In the Napa-lazy-evenings-at-the-vineyard-summer-house category, this white lattice-like lace dress that I adore (I’m really crazy abt geometric patterns, but YMMV). It’s so chic and elegant but also breezy and playful, just the perfect summer dress. I also love how she wore it with that white suit jacket (raised lapels again ftw).
And this is, as they say, it. On a side note, I think this question was rather unfair, b/c the answer barely scratches the surface in terms of the outfits I like :D But there’s probably a length limit for tumblr posts lol.
Some of these photos were shamelessly nicked from @dontbesodroopy‘s moste excellente bloge, so thanks for that :P
Again, thanks for asking!

***THE MOST WONDERFUL COVER ART BY @cocohook38 HERE!!!!!******
****ALSO!!!!!!!!!!!!Chapter 12 animation and art that will absolutely astound you!!! THANK YOU MY WONDERFUL COCONUT FRIEND!!!!!!!!!!*************
Long bonus chapter for a coconut :) With apologies to @mathildia (but we do see her again a couple more times in flashbacks.)
One day ago (Thursday)...
Z was dead.
Staggering into her hovel after an excruciating trip back in his Master’s arms, half-dead himself and bleary with anguish, Killian didn’t realize it at first. He made it to the butcher’s table and was gathering the strength to heave himself up before glancing over to where she sat slumped in a chair in the corner. Her eyes were open but blank, her head nestled against the seat back and the wall. As always, no injury adorned her body, but Killian knew that wouldn’t have been her cause of death. She would have succumbed to whatever neurological draining power the Master possessed which affected all of its slaves.
Killian couldn’t even summon the will to feel sorry for her, or honestly, even to be grateful for her efforts which had kept him alive this long. Perhaps when this whole thing was over--if, by some miracle, he lived long enough--he might look back and honor her memory. But at present, his only concern was how he could possibly survive to enact his plan without her brutal but necessary treatment.
In the few seconds it took for all of this to flash through his brain, a noticeable slick of blood had gathered on both sides of his mangled ankle, adding scarlet ribbons to the rusty brown already painting the stone floor. Stop the bleeding. That was the priority. He had access to her tools and knowledge of what to do; he’d even had some experience in his long and violent history. The question was, could he remain conscious long enough to get the job done?
Killian realized he was staring vacantly back at Z’s corpse, as if expecting her to rise from her chair and spare him the necessity of self-torture. But she remained still and silent. So he dragged in a labored breath, set his jaw, and limped drunkenly toward her row of yellow cabinets.
In previous encounters, he had generally been too involved with flopping up onto the table to notice her system of organization, and in any case, she’d usually had things mostly prepared before his arrival. This time, her tray was empty save for the dreaded disinfectant bottle and a tub of iodine, which may or may not hide a submerged selection of needles.
The first cabinet that caught Killian’s fall contained more than a hundred plastic pouches of saline. Nearly a score of them hung from hooks at the top, labeled and out of their original packaging, with pre-filled tubing already attached. Several large boxes were stacked at the bottom of the cabinet, containing still-sealed bags of the same. Killian made a face, but then changed his mind about dismissing the possibility outright. There was no doubt that the extra fluids had prolonged his existence thus far, and he had come to believe that Z had been adding additional medications, such as antibiotics; otherwise, he very likely would have succumbed to infection long since.
One of the prepared bags caught his eye. In addition to the sticker label that had illegible names and dosages scribbled on it, there was a large number “3” drawn in black marker. “3” for Tripod? Killian tried to recall whether he had noticed that label on the previous IV bags Z had used on him, but he had always been too distracted with pain to be certain. Other bags were labeled with other letters, numbers, or symbols, and from his quick survey “3” made the most sense. So he snatched the bag off of its hook and tucked it under his left arm. He had certainly watched the process enough times; surely he could replicate it on himself?
The next cabinet contained additional sackcloth tunics, as well as wadded-up bandages. His nudity was the least of Killian's worries, but he did grab a handful of linen strips and a garment for warmth. Moving on.
Inside the cabinet next to Z herself, the top shelf held vials and vials of unrecognizable medications. A hasty survey revealed no morphine, Vicodin, or anything else particularly helpful in that regard.
It wasn’t worth the effort to get up on the table for himself. Killian tossed the supplies he had collected so far onto a clear patch of floor by the wall. Then he forced himself over to the chest of drawers near the sink. Therein he found the staple gun, as well as extra suture material, which he collected without allowing himself to dwell on it. There were refills for the stapler, but in all of his searching, he couldn't find any of the large straight needles she used for the IV treatment. How could she be so well stocked with everything else but that? He would have to report it to his Master so that it could set priorities for the next supply run...
Killian stopped and squeezed his eyes shut, but when he opened them again the scene before him continued to waver. Cold prickles attacked the area behind his eyes and shivered down the back of his neck. Reality and charade blended so that, for a moment, he forgot what he was doing there. He was running out of time.
Ultimately, it was a severe twinge from his ankle that brought him back to full awareness. He staggered toward the table where Z’s tray waited. Placing staple gun and sutures onto the metal surface, he then took the tray in hand. The iodine sloshed over the sides of the shallow basin on top, bathing the instruments in yellow stain.
He returned to where he had left the other supplies and slumped with his shoulder against the wall. It was the only thing that saved him from a painful collapse onto the floor. His skin left a bloody streak on the paint as he slid down and landed with a groan. After a few centering breaths he forced himself to focus, knowing that if he allowed himself to close his eyes and rest, he would probably never wake up. First priority: fluids. And the biggest obstacles to that would be his ability to set everything up one-handed, and then to actually hit a vein without any sort of training.
There was more iodine on the tray and floor than in the basin by the time Killian thumped it down onto the stone. He could see the expected needles in what was left of their interrupted bath and had a brief flashback to a work safety video he’d watched with Emma expounding upon the dangers of sharing needles. But he had no choice, and really, the odds of surviving long enough for bloodborne pathogens to become a concern were hovering close to zero.
With the tray safely on the floor beside him, Killian reached for the IV bag. His ankle throbbed mercilessly, and he didn’t even want to look at it for fear of passing out, but in his peripheral vision, he could see the blood welling. To his immediate left stood one of the cabinets, with a protruding knob at just the proper height to hang the pouch. A gravelly groan accompanied his blind reach; he hurt in too many places to twist or try and get up to his knees. Eventually, the small loop at the top caught on the knob, and Killian dropped his arm with a sigh of relief.
Now for a difficulty: popping a slender needle onto an equally tiny bit of plastic one-handed. He was normally fairly dexterous, and given enough practice, could master most tasks without the necessity of a second set of fingers. But he had neither the usual time nor steadiness as assets. Setting his jaw, he fished in the iodine remnants until locating one of the long needles so favored by Z. He did his best to grip it by the base and not touch either end as he gave it a final swish in the disinfectant. Then, holding the needle between thumb and forefinger, he grabbed the tubing between pinkie and ring finger. Once he had aligned the plug with the needle’s hollow base, he used delicate pressure to connect the two. It took more tries than he would have liked, due to uncontrollable interrupting tremors, but eventually, he had the two pieces in weak connection. He brought the setup carefully to his mouth, gripped the plug between his teeth, and used that leverage to insert it more firmly into the needle. Then it was just a matter of winding the little screw-on security apparatus, and it seemed ready to go. He held it in hand once more, opened the stopcock on the tubing, watched a small stream of liquid shoot from the hollow needle, then shut it off once again.
The only thing he had to use as a tourniquet was a linen bandage. This he tied with a slipknot before sliding it gingerly over his ring-and-stake accessory and up around his upper arm. He again used his teeth to assist, this time by grabbing the loose end of the bandage and pulling tight. It seemed to work all right; he could feel the tingly throb of his heartbeat in his forearm as blood backed up in the veins.
Feeling fainter by the second, Killian couldn’t afford to hesitate or spend much time locating a vein. He positioned the needle’s point just above a still-visible puncture mark mid-forearm from just a couple of days ago. At least that way he would be in the general area, even if he had zero inkling of what angle to go in.
Poking himself did not present that much of a mental hurdle. He’d done it before, when desperate times had required him to suture his own injuries: a skill which would, unfortunately, be called upon in a few moments. This needle was bigger in diameter and similarly blunted by regular use, but once he applied enough pressure, it popped through the skin with a familiar sting and then moved much more easily. He rooted around at a fairly shallow angle for a little while, knowing from past observation that blood should appear in the tubing once he entered a vein.
A combination of luck and persistence rewarded him with a result a few moments later, after he was already thoroughly tired of mutilating his own flesh. The area invaded by the needle burned, and a faint bruise was already visible over the moving steel. But then a definite spurt of blood curled up into the tubing, and Killian froze. He was in--but now what? The needle still protruded halfway out of his skin, and at an angle too steep to try and secure it as it was. But if he decided to move, he risked poking through the vessel and having to start over.
As delicately as he could manage, Killian decreased the angle and pushed the needle deeper. It made sense to him that the vein would travel at a relatively constant depth within his arm, which meant parallel to the skin. So by steadily advancing while at the same time changing the angle, he would hopefully follow the vessel’s path.
He watched as blood continued to mingle with the saline; its dilution was making it hard to tell for certain whether fresh was still coming in or not. An involuntary tremor spasmed through his fingers, and he cursed through gritted teeth. He had felt a very definite jolt of the needle within his flesh, the twinge of pain a possible sign of its dislodging. But all he could do was hope for the best. Another centimeter, and the base of the needle came into contact with his arm. There were still 3 or 4 millimeters of steel sticking out, but he could apply tape now to secure it. Very slowly, Killian released his grip, making certain that none of his fingers were tangled in the plastic tubing. The needle remained in place, shivering slightly with each pulse. Killian first loosened the tourniquet, then he reached for the stopcock and said a prayer as he opened the valve.
The blood-tinged saline flowed quickly into his arm as gravity sent fluid trickling into the drip chamber above. There didn’t seem to be any obstruction, and his forearm didn’t swell like a water balloon, which Killian took to be a very good sign indeed. Releasing the breath he’d been holding, he selected a roll of surgical tape, tore a strip off with his teeth, and gently smoothed it over the protruding needle. There. Now, if he were to lose consciousness, at least he was replacing the blood volume being lost through his open wounds.
Now for the ankle. It didn’t have to be pretty, or even thorough. It just had to get him through the next day or so. Prevent him bleeding out before having a chance to enact the plan.
Killian had hoped to give Emma more time. Without her contribution, he would fail, simple as that. But he could not last longer. 20 minutes ago, after being dumped into a heap outside, he had nearly lacked the strength to rise. He might have lay there until the luminous columns of Zeus’ domain replaced the mud and despair, and then all of this would have been for nothing. How many more times could he find a way to get back up? How long before his quivering muscles would no longer obey?
Before the sinister voice in his head became too compelling to resist?
He would give her until tomorrow. Gamble that the next Session would not break him beyond hope, that his maimed body would make it that long, and that Emma would find a way in time.
Twice, the staple gun slipped between uncoordinated fingers before Killian finally managed to grab hold. It had better not require much effort to trigger. Fighting back nausea, Killian struggled to shift his weight. Repairing the ribbons of flayed skin would be like trying to piece together a document that had gone through a paper shredder. And he couldn’t even aim properly.
He hovered the business end over the lowest line of dark maroon, near his heel.
“You can’t just shoot the staples willy-nilly,” whispered Smee in his ear. Or maybe it was Dr. Whale. ”The skin needs to be pressed together first…”
“Sod off.” He squeezed the handle.
SNAP!
Killian cursed vehemently.
“Sir… you missed…”
“Bloody hell…”
SNAP! SNAP! SNAP!
“Maybe you should open your eyes for this… Captain?”
SNAP!
SCREAM FOR ME… MY TRIPOD… SCREAM FOR YOUR MASTER….
Hope—SNAP!—kidnapped—SNAP!—Hope—SNAP!—dead?—SNAP!—No?—SNAP!—No Hope—SNAP! SNAP!—No hope—SNAP!—No hope…
“Hook! That’s enough! Hook, stop!”
Killian wiped away tears. A haphazard mess of metal now drowned in the blood of his inner ankle, sometimes intersecting the wounds, other times burrowed into perfectly intact flesh. One more, maybe… right there…
SNAP! Dammit!
Close enough.
I ENJOY THE LITTLE UTTERANCES, TRIPOD, BUT CANNOT LIVE OFF OF THEM.
No hope… no hope… no hope…
“How ever will the pirate reach his outer ankle?”
Who was that, now; the Crocodile?
“Give me my hand back and I’ll show you.”
A true problem, that. Were he not injured in a dozen other places, he could possibly twist far enough. As it was, he could really only reach around from beneath and fire blindly.
“What’s the difference? It isn’t as if you watched what you were doing when you could see.”
*****
Enough cursing and arguing with the array of invisible onlookers got Killian through 13 jolting shocks on the other side of his ankle. In truth, he probably needed more, but the device had run out of staples and he couldn’t decipher how to refill it. With any luck, the stinging bits of metal coupled with a tight bandage would be enough to encourage clotting.
Sleep. He ached for sleep, almost hungering for it. The bag of saline was nearly empty, and he briefly considered swapping it out for a full one, slowing the drip rate, and lying down right there to give in to the temptation. But that would likely earn him an extra beating; one card stacked in favor of early demise.
22, 24 hours more. That’s all he needed. Maybe all he had left in him.
No hope. It was true, wasn’t it? No longer a mantra. A reality.
No hope. If they failed? What then? What would Emma be left with? Nothing. No advantage, no leverage, no hope.
Then he realized. He could leave one thing behind. Not much, but better than nothing. Without Z supervising her tools, it was his first opportunity to even consider doing it. He cast narrowed eyes on the tub of iodine at his side. He knew there was one in there; he’d sliced a finger on it while searching for the damn needle.
Screw sanitation. It was too late anyway. Killian reached out and, more by accident than design, flipped the tub all the way over. Brown-tinged liquid soaked the stone floor, metallic instruments clattered in a prickly pile beneath. He batted the useless tub aside and scoured the mess for the scalpel blade.
It took some doing to grasp it between thumb and forefinger, but at least he managed to snag a pre-loaded, curved suturing needle in the process. He was going to need that.
No scar marked the spot; he would be required to go on memory alone. Killian increased the volume of his internal chant as camouflage. Just there, left shoulder, below the collarbone. Correct? He pulled a deep breath and gritted his teeth. He had to be quick: looking down at such a severe angle, with the need for intense focus, was already making the world spin.
In one brutal movement, he stabbed the sharp tip of the blade into his flesh, then dragged it sideways, making a long but shallow incision parallel to the clavicle. The wound burned as it began to leak blood. Hastily, Killian placed the scalpel blade on his leg to give himself easy access. Then he wriggled his finger into the cut, squeezing his eyes shut against the onslaught of pain. It wasn’t that deep, surely? He should be able to feel it, a small oddity among the warm, slippery mass of skin and muscle.
His breath left him in a low growl as he probed deeper. The memory of pain seemed to be right in that area… but who could tell whether or not the current sensation was influencing that. He pressed harder, pointer finger now buried almost to the second joint. Forceps, if he could find some, might hurt less--might--but wouldn’t give him the ability to distinguish between flesh and metal.
There! Something dug into the pad of his fingertip, pointed and motile. Grimacing, he pushed against the object and felt an uncomfortable shifting within his shoulder. It was deeper than he’d anticipated, and lower down; how could be possibly grasp the bit of metal, much less extract it from its cocoon of flesh?
Blood spurted from the wound as Killian reluctantly removed his finger. He’d have to try and push it out through a secondary incision.
Another line of fire joined the first. It was lower down his chest, closer to his arm, where he approximated the other end of the capsule to be. He had meant to cut just as deep… but in reality, may have held back more than he had intended.
His finger wormed its agonizing way back into the hole. Seconds later, a nasty twinge told him he’d located his target. The lower incision continued to bleed freely; his whole left chest and flank were now stained red. With a snarl of pain, Killian pushed as hard as he could against the metal capsule, attempting to guide it toward the exit hole. He could feel it shifting, tearing through muscle fibers and subcutaneous tissue with its tapered end. A small bulge appeared in his skin, slightly below the second cut. Hissing curses, he lifted his stump, not caring if he dislodged the needle in his forearm. He hated using the wrist ring and all of the pain that it brought, but it was his only option.
Though still bandaged from his short stint in the hospital, the end of the stake protruded slightly, and he used this to pull on the skin of his chest. The incision gaped a little wider, ultimately stretching over the place where the capsule was stuck. More pressure, more tearing, accompanied by a yell of pained effort, and then the metal point appeared, covered in bright blood. Killian sucked in one more steadying breath before savagely thrusting with his finger; at the same time, he drove the wrist stake in toward his ribs.
The metal capsule popped free of his flesh and landed between his legs, leaving a ruddy trail as it rolled along the stones. Panting, Killian removed his finger and held the bandaged wrist against both incisions, then snatched the capsule up with a bloodstained hand before it could skitter out of reach. Blasted thing. He scowled at it, eyes slightly unfocused, shivering with exhaustion and pain. Where to hide it?
Within a bandage was the logical place. His wrist, simply because it was easy to reach. Hopefully, the Master would not bother with the wrapping until an opportune time presented itself.
Suture shoulder. Maybe ribs. Put on sackcloth. Then barn and sleep.
Tomorrow would be the end.

There are a few essential components that make up any computer. You need a screen, a keyboard and a mouse or trackpad for sure. But what else? If you have a laptop like a MacBook Pro, it’s going to run on battery power when it’s not plugged in. And how do you charge this battery? You need a charging cord and adapter, obviously. It’s one of the most critical aspects of your computer and is an essential accessory.
Over the course of owning your MacBook Pro, you might need to get a new charger. Since these are external accessories to your computer, you might accidentally lose it or someone might steal it or it’s not charging the battery. These charging cables can also wear out over time or become damaged in which case, you’ll need to find a replacement. Luckily, finding a new charger for your MacBook Pro is easy so here is a look at where to buy a new one.
Why Buy a MacBook Pro Charger
As I touched on above, there are a few different reasons you might need to get a new charger for your MacBook Pro. The fact of the matter is that you absolutely need a charger to use your computer. Without it, once your battery dies you will have no way of recharging and using the computer.
If you accidentally lose your charging cable or if it gets stolen, you’ll obviously need a new one. You might be able to borrow a friend or something for a while but without a cord to yourself, you won’t be able to use your computer as often as you’d like.
If you are experiencing issues with your current charging cable, it might also be time to consider purchasing a new one. If you see any signs of significant damage on your charger such as exposed wiring or a broken wire cover, it’s only a matter of time before the charger breaks completely. A damaged cable may work for a while, but it will eventually stop leaving you in need of a new one.
MacBook Pro Chargers – Different Types
If you do need to buy a new charger for your MacBook, you need to know what type of charger you’re looking for as different models require different chargers. If you still have your old charger and need a new one because it is broken or damaged, bring it into the store when you purchase a new one so you can reference the type and buy the correct charger.
Where Is The Best Place To Buy A Mac Computer
Power adapters for MacBooks come in 3 different connections and a wide variety of wattages. You need to know the required adapter for your specific model. You can find out which model MacBook you have here. Wattage is an important consideration because if you get an adapter that has less wattage than intended for your computer, it will not charge. A higher wattage adapter will work but it won’t charge your computer any faster.
The three main types of adapter connects are:
USB-C
MagSafe (Which comes in L and T shapes)
MagSafe 2
Where to Buy a MacBook Pro Charger
MacBook Pro chargers are easy to find and replace. They are not the cheapest accessory for your computer but because they are so important if you need one you will have to buy it. Once you have figured out which charging adapter you need based on your MacBook model, you can either purchase a new one online or from a physical store that sells these products. Here’s a look at some good options for either.
Online Retailers that Supply MacBook Pro Chargers
With any of these online retailers, simply type in the type of charger you are looking for and your results will be listed. I always shop around at a few different online locations to try and find the best price for any product. If you want to get a power adapter created by Apple, that’s fine but sometimes there are cheaper options made by other companies on Amazon or New Egg.
Physical Retailers that Supply MacBook Pro Chargers
The Apple Store
Best Buy
Target
Walmart
Staples
Almost every physical store that sells these chargers has an online store so it’s really up to you how you go about buying a new MacBook Pro charger. If you don’t know exactly what charger you need, sometimes it’s nice to go talk to a customer service person at one of these store locations. To find a location near you, Google the name of the store and the city you are in and you should see a list of nearby stores that sell the chargers.
Final Thoughts
If you don’t have a charger for your MacBook Pro, you basically don’t have a computer at all. It’s like having a car without gas – it might look good, but you won’t be able to operate it. Luckily, it’s easy to find a new charger either online or in-store for a replacement. A simple search of MacBook Pro chargers will point you in the right direction but visit any of the online or physical locations mentioned here and you’ll be able to find the correct charger for your MacBook.
Have you ever needed a new charger? Where did you buy it?
There’s nothing special about a Mac purchased from the Apple Store. The ghost of Steve Jobs doesn’t sprinkle magic iDust on it, and the Geniuses haven’t loaded it up with bonus software.
It’s exactly the same computer as one purchased at any otherauthorized* source. The difference is the price. On any given Mac laptop or desktop computer, you’ll always find the highest price at the Apple Store. With very few exceptions, the price for a Mac at the Apple Store will remain consistent from the day it is released to the day it is discontinued.
Shopping for an Apple Mac
Apple’s done a great job catering to Mac fans with stores that are monuments to aesthetically pleasing design and staff that are as Apple-focused as the shoppers. By all means, go, check out the newest models, and take care of your repairs. But you should never buy a computer in the Apple Store, no matter how cool the hipster Genius makes you feel. So where is the best place to buy a Mac? You’ll always find a better deal by getting online and checking out the alternatives in the form of Apple Authorized Resellers and Apple’s own special pricing departments.
Look for an Authorized Apple Reseller
Apple Authorized Resellers frequently have the best deals on Mac computers and laptops. The big names in the game include: MacMall, Mac Connection, B&H, Best Buy and Abt Electronics.
Where To Buy Mac Computer Case
There are a number of advantages to shopping at these stores. First off, they provide discounts on the retail price.
The next big advantage to buying from online retailers is free software and rebate offers such as free trials of software and rebate offers for free or discounted printers or accessories.
Best Buy even has started offering exclusive weekly discounts on select Apple products to members of its free My Best Buy loyalty program, kicking its special deals off with up to $200 off select Mac Book Pro models. If you’re in the market, it’s worth signing up.
A quick note: if the website you are looking at has a shoddy design and the prices are too low to be believed, it probably isn’t an Apple Authorized site and may not be a trustworthy business. Any site you see on Brad’s Deals is safe.
Purchase Through the Apple Education Store
Students, teachers, and education staff can save up to $200 on Macs by purchasing through the Apple Education Store. With these price reductions, buying through Apple can be a good deal, even though you will pay sales tax. Ground shipping is always free with a Mac purchase (from any of the Apple Stores). The best time for a student to purchase is in the summer months when Apple usually runs a back-to-school promotion. For a few years now, Apple’s been offering students a $100 Apple Store Gift Card with the purchase of a Mac, and a $50 Apple Store Gift Card with the purchase of a qualifying iPad or iPhone.
Consider Purchasing Through Apple-Certified Refurbished Mac Department
The Apple-Certified Refurbished Mac Department is the other big way to buy from Apple and save. Getting a great deal on a refurb can have a lot to do with timing. Apple refurbs are current or previous generation models that have been tested, refurbished, and re-certified. They carry the same one-year, extendable warranty as regular Macs. These purchases also often qualify for printer rebates, and students can purchase refurbs through the education store to get the gift card.
Wait for Apple’s Black Friday
This is the exception to the rule. The one time of year you can find variations in pricing at the Apple Store is on Black Friday. Sadly, these sales usually consist of the same 5 percent off deals year after year, so if you’re looking to score a good deal on a Mac on Black Friday, we recommend shopping anywhere but the Apple Store. Resist the siren’s call of the Apple Store’s shining halls and come to us for the best online deals.
Additional Tip: No matter where you buy your Mac, you can save even more if you use a cash back credit card. For instance, the Chase Freedom Flex℠ Card currently offers 5% cash back on quarterly rotating categories and 1% cash back on everything else. Plus, new cardholders can earn a bonus of $200 when you spend $500 within your first three months. Additionally, when buying any type of electronics, using a credit card is especially important because of card benefits such as purchase protection, price protection, and extended warranty.

Arplis - News: A round up of 20 home organizing items to tidy every room in your house, establish good organizing habits, and keep it that way
Don’t read that title as “My house is sparkly clean and everything has its place right now and I’m basically Organizer Barbie.” That ain’t it. We just took down our Christmas decorations last week, and now this house feels totally chaotic. It happens every year. But after cleaning up the same messes a thousand times in this house (mamas, y’all know that feeling, right?), I have figured out solutions that work to give the things in our house a “home”. When it does get messy, it only takes a few minutes to do a quick sweep of the house before it feels sane again. (Pst… need ideas for organizing all the nooks and crannies of your house? Check ’em out here.) So I thought it would be helpful to round up 20 of my favorite organizing items that have totally saved my tail to whip our home into shape over the years. 20 Best Home Organizing Items for a Tidy Space (Some affiliate links are provided below. Full disclosure here.) 1. Use a Closet Clean-Out Cheat Sheet to Sort Out the Keepers Simply asking myself “Does this item spark joy?” isn’t enough for me. I need direction and clarity when trying to purge pieces from my wardrobe. Print out this cheat sheet and physically as yourself the hard questions about what’s in your closet. Over time, the job will go faster and get easier. (See our entire closet here.) 2. Display a Calendar, Mail Sorter, and Memo Board for a Command Center or Mail Drop-Zone Have a place for a calendar to jot down reminders and schedules. Use a mail sorter to stay ahead of the pile. Put up a memo board for papers that need immediate attention. And leave room for a key rack and shelf for any items that tend to get dropped at the door. (See our DIY command center wall here.) Turn on your JavaScript to view content 3. Use Shelf Risers and Drawer Stacks in Sinks, Cabinets, and on Shelves Vertical storage is like getting double or triple the space. (See a tour of our entire organized bathroom vanity here.) Turn on your JavaScript to view content 4. Invest in Drawer Organizers There are so many great drawer organizer inserts out there, but even if you don’t want to spend the money, you can even cut up cardboard cereal & cracker boxes to do the job. Turn on your JavaScript to view content 5. Use Tiered Shelves Tiered shelves allow you to stack things for vertical storage while seeing everything at once. This matching spice bottle set streamlines our spice cabinet beautifully. (See a tour of our entire organized kitchen here.) Turn on your JavaScript to view content 6. Go for Matching Hangers It’s amazing how streamlined a closet can feel with matching hangers. These wooden ones are from IKEA, but if you don’t have a location near you, these wooden hangers are comparable. Turn on your JavaScript to view content 7. Use Clear Canisters It’s so much easier to see when you’re running low and you don’t have to play Tetris to get a bunch of odd grocery containers to fit onto one shelf together. I love these clear locking canisters that keep our dry goods completely air tight. (See our entire pantry cabinet here for small space storage solutions.) Turn on your JavaScript to view content 8. Corral Countertop Cooking Staples into a Caddy I like putting utensils, olive oil, salt and pepper, butter and my Google Home (for music while I cook) in easy reach together in a round basket tray so my countertops are clear for kitchen prep work. Bonus points if you put it on a Lazy Susan for 360 accessibility. (See more tips for decorating kitchen countertops for function here.) Turn on your JavaScript to view content 9. Place Wall Hooks Right Beside Your Family’s Most Commonly Used Door It’s the designated spot to prevent your entire house from becoming the drop zone of clutter. I love these cute double hooks that look antique and add a little charm to our laundry room. Ours are several years old now, but these hooks and these hooks have a similar vibe. (See a tour of our entire laundry room here.) Turn on your JavaScript to view content 10. Designate a Toy Basket in the Living Room (We do this since we have a playroom right off of our living room, so I realize not everyone has the luxury of a playroom.) No matter what your toy situation looks like, at least having enough baskets and bins for toys when not in use helps give them a “home” so they’re out of sight. We just fold a blanket or place a throw pillow on top of our basket. (See more tips for toy organization here.) Turn on your JavaScript to view content 11. Hide Cords with Cord Covers You can paint the cord covers the same color as the wall so they blend right in and you’ll never notice them. Turn on your JavaScript to view content 12. Take Advantage of Pegboards For craft rooms, offices, garages, laundry rooms, wherever… items stay orderly but accessible. These pegboard hooks and pegboard baskets help a ton. (See more cleaning/laundry room solutions here.) Turn on your JavaScript to view content 13. Use Ironing Board Hooks Keep the ironing board accessible and out of the way without taking up a ton of valuable space in a closet somewhere by putting a hook in your laundry room. Turn on your JavaScript to view content 14. Use Wall Baskets Inside of Closets I like storing gift wrap items on walls in our coat closet so I can quickly grab them when a wrapping occasion pops up. Use wall baskets for storing gloves, umbrellas, or any other accessory too. (See more of our coat closet here.) Turn on your JavaScript to view content 15. Roll Your Towels and Washcloths and Stick with White Bonus Points: It makes a bathroom feel more like a spa. I love white because they’re easy to bleach too. These towels are my absolute favorite. I LOVE this bathroom tower for vertical storage too. (See a tour of our entire master bathroom refresh here.) Turn on your JavaScript to view content 16. Use Wire Baskets in Pantries That way you can see food items inside of the wire baskets more easily. (See a tour of our entire IKEA Hemnes pantry solution here.) Turn on your JavaScript to view content 17. Take Advantage of a Tiered Basket for Produce A tiered basket helps so much to keep fruit from being scattered all over the kitchen counter while preventing overcrowding so they don’t spoil as quickly. Turn on your JavaScript to view content 18. Keep a Glasses Holder and Trinket Bowl on the Nightstand For taking everything off at the end of the day. (See a tour of our entire master bedroom here.) Turn on your JavaScript to view content 19. Keep Gaming Consoles and TV Receivers Behind Mesh Doors They can still receive a signal without being visible that way. You can see our tutorial for building this DIY window seat here. 20. Go Nuts With a Label Maker My little $10 label maker was worth every penny!!! Label containers, doors, drawers, bins, anything to help you and your household know what goes where. Turn on your JavaScript to view content I know there are a bunch of other favorite organizing items of mine too, but those are definitely the top contenders. TRENDS
I may have made it apparent in my previous post that trends, in terms of style, should be avoided. Meaning that they can be taken too far. People allow trends to lead their fashion choices and then BOOM onto the next trend. There are “trends” that aren’t trends really anymore. They’re here to stay and they’ve become staples, pieces that are crucial to ones everyday wardrobe. Here are a couple of trends, only a couple that come straight to mind, that I approve of and are even hanging in my rack right now.
ONE. The monochromatic look. We have seen Hailey Beiber and Rosie Huntington-Whitely, and the Hadids alike frolicking around in a mono look. Rosie opts more for the Max Mara trenches and matching pant with her signature Bottega Venetas. I love it. Same with Hailey B. With H I tend to see a mono sweatsuit with an overcoat in a matching color or even a dark contrasted black jacket. This look can be achieved with not necessarily a more formal-meeting ready get-up but even with a sweat suit (H) a matching hoodie and a coat to tie it all together. And let’s not forget a chic handbag to complement the look.
TWO. A cyclical trend, the “dad” shoe. Raf, Yeezy, Pyer Moss, Balenciaga, basically every designer is capitalizing on this “trend.” Plain and simple, I endorse. Why? It adds modernity and it is striking if done correctly. I’ve seen women in my fashion classes try to rock this trend and it’s paired poorly with a jean, knee length skirt and peasant top and its a no go. For me, how do I pair my Yeezy’s? An oversized denim jean, sweats (of course) or an above the knee sweat-short that’s paid with a Benneton button down. Again, Hi-Lo for me is the way I go. And the gag is, the shoes are so comfortable. I wear mine almost everyday.
THREE. This one is more complicated for me, because it’s being overdone. Okay we get it we love our Jacquemus mini Chiquitos, but everything in moderation. They are adorable and not functional but who cares because fashion isn’t supposed to be. I opt for a slightly different, slightly more functional mini-wallet (and its a wallet because it only fits my two credit cards, ID and maybe my Dior lipstick.) It’s the KARA Chain bag in the mini option. The chain is heavy, like an actual chain, many mistake it for a weapon (i.e. LDR security and the county office) but I’m inseparable from it. It’s a conversation starter no matter where I go. “Is it a bag?” “Is it a chain accessory?” Nope, its my Kara. My point being we’ve seen Lizzo rocking the mini Chiquito and in my opinion, it’s been done. The craze is over. I love Jacquemus! He is a fresh designer who puts thought and personality and not to mention sentimentality into his work (i.e. 2020 Menswear collection.) But like I said trends are cyclical and this one is “sort of” overplayed. Let’s see some variety. This final acceptable “trend” is an exception because it can be done in a multitude of ways. Link to the Kara bag below.
BONUS. Oversize clothing. Contradictory to #3 oversize blazers, leather jackets as well as denim is unique because you can wear them casually or even dress them up depending on the crowd and location. I love an oversize leather blazer or biker jacket with slacks or even denim (baggy or fitted. They can go with virtually any bottom: shorts, biker shorts, skirt, and I’ve even worn my oversize leather with nothing but tights for a birthday celebration (25 thank you). Hi-Lo is a guiding theme for me so I own a lot of denim and leather and tops that are anywhere in between. My dichotomy tends to shift between high end pieces and “low” end finds. I’m attracted to minimalism and chaos and layers.

New Year, New Staples!
It’s only been a week and a half into 2017 and I am already gathering a plethora of my new staples for the year. Since I go to school on one coast of the country and live on the other, it can be fairly difficult to find clothes and accessories that fit the extremes of weather of both California and Virginia.
Granted, California has become pretty chilly these past few winters but in my book, Virginia takes the cake for record low winter temperatures. And don’t even get me started on the summer heat! Virginia is sticky, muggy and humid day in and day out between the months of June and September whereas in California, it’s just plain dry all the time. Having grown up in California, I’m perfectly accustomed to hot, dry heat so coming to Virginia for school was a bit of a shock for me. I’ve been attending VCU for two years now and I’m still not used to walking outside and instantly sweating through my clothes. And as if there’s an added bonus, east coast weather is completely unpredictable year round.
These stark differences in temperature have definitely both confused and frustrated me because what do I pack when I go home? What do I bring with me back to school? Do I pack all of my winter gear or just one coat? Should I bring both my summer wardrobe and winter one to school with me, too?
This year, I’ve made a promise to myself to shop not just with one of the places I live in mind but both. Below are the beginnings of the garments and the accessories I’ve already acquired for this winter season. Let’s get started!
1. Thermal Onesie (American Apparel)
Of course a thermal onesie is at the top of my essentials! Onesies - especially form-fitting thermal ones - can be worn both in Virginia and California either as pajamas, under an outfit or even worn alone as an outfit all by itself. American Apparel’s online store has the thermal onesies in two colors: black and gray. I bought mine in store and I remember seeing a white one as well, so definitely check out your local American Apparel to see what other colors are in stock!
2. Leggings (H&M)
Leggings have become one of the biggest staples of my wardrobe solely because they’re comfortable, warm and fashionable at the same time. Much like the thermal onesie, I can wear leggings under my outfit bottoms or I can just wear them plain but no matter how I choose to wear them, they always keep my legs nice and cozy.
3. Over-The-Knee Boots (Zara)
I actually have been wanting a pair of high-heeled over-the-knee boots for a while now and thanks to Zara’s amazing sale, I finally bought a pair! Since these boots are over-the-knee, they are slim and form-fitting which, consequently, keep my legs warm all day or night long. I can wear the boots over sweater tights or jeans in Virginia and I can wear them with thigh-high socks or even just alone in California.
4. Logo Beanie (Stussy)
While beanies are fashionable on their own without a logo or even just solid-colored, I saw this particular Stüssy beanie in an Urban Outfitters one day and I thought it was the cutest thing! I love the contrast between the bright orange and the white and I also love how Stüssy’s logo wraps around the whole cuff of the beanie. Shielding my head from the cold while keeping up my bright and colorful aesthetic - of course I’d like to have my cake and eat it, too!
5. Colored Socks (Uniqlo)
It’s only fitting to match my bright beanies with some brightly colored socks! Uniqlo has made it both affordable and easy to build up my sock collection; I almost have a pair of socks for each color of the rainbow. As you’ve probably noticed, I love matching my socks with my outfits and since it’s winter right now, I got to keep my feet warm! What better - and more fun - way to do that than to throw on a pair of red or blue or even orange socks? Actually, if I’m being completely honest here, my trusty go-to winter outfit for both Virginia and California is a big sweater paired with matching socks scrunched over my leggings or jeans - so, yes, socks definitely made it onto my staples list.
All five of these garments and accessories will probably be making several appearances this winter season and I am so excited to see what kinds of outfits I can come up with just from this small list of staples. Check back in the spring time to see how these essentials have faired and also to see my added spring staples, as well!

Best guide for packing an RV
When preparing to move into an RV to travel in full-time, one of the challenges you’ll face is deciding what to bring in the RV. It is minimalism at it’s finest and you’ll definitely need as many tips for packing an RV for full-time living as you can get.
The entire process – selling items (sometimes even your house), putting other items in storage (“we will need that someday!”), putting aside what you want to bring in the RV and then cutting that in half…and in half again. It ends up being much more difficult than you anticipated. We Googled, asked the advice from other full-timers, and went back and forth on a lot of items. rv bathroom accessories https://www.rvlivingusa.com/rv-bathroom-accessories-you-shouldnt-do-without/
In fact, after only 3 months of being on the road full-time, we did some major switches on what we brought!
So we decided to write a post to help any newbie full-timers out there who are in this very same struggle! Here are our tips:
1. You don’t need as many RV supplies and tools as you think! Start with the basic items needed to operate the RV, which are wheel chocks, leveling blocks, a sewer hose, a fresh water hose, propane, and a tire inflator. You may also want/need additional accessories, such as a tow bar, extra storage rack, solar panels, etc. Click here to check out our full list here to see the specific items we use and love.
Avoid bringing the items you could easily just buy while on the road if you absolutely needed them, especially if your space is limited. It’s easy to go overboard buying all sorts of accessories for the RV. We recommend getting the bare minimum and then you can always purchase more as you, if there are items you wish you had. It’s much easier to do this then deal with the frustration of having too much crammed in!
One of the biggest mistakes that we made was how many tools we packed in the RV and truck! We are so tired of hauling around a bunch of stuff that we don’t ever use. We therefore recommend you stick to the basic tools (screwdrivers, drill, pliers, hammer etc). There’s no reason to haul around specialty tools for that rare occasion or instance that you’ll need it. You can always buy or rent it! storage ideas for rv closets https://www.rvlivingusa.com/20-storage-ideas-for-rv-closets-with-pictures/
2. Consider where you plan to stay/park most of the time. If you plan to “boondock” (dry camp for free!) as often as possible, there are going to be things you’ll need that you wouldn’t necessarily need while staying at RV parks. For boondocking, you might need more “camping supplies”, such as coolers, lanterns, outdoor tables, etc. Read our Beginner’s Guide to Boondocking for more information on However, RV parks might be more your style, in which case you’ll have space for other “bonus” items.instead of the traditional camping supplies. You might choose to bring a propane fire pit (many RV parks don’t allow any other kind of campfires, which we didn’t know!), a hammock, kayaks, or golf clubs!
3. Treat yourself to the comforts of home. We all have those items that are our staples. You’ll sit there and try to justify whether you should or should not bring them along. Our advice: BRING THEM! Make room for them. Make it work! If they make your life easier/better, they deserve to make the cut. You don’t even have to justify it. We are so happy we chose to bring along the items that we love and have used for years, even though some of them may seem unnecessary when your space is limited.
4. And last, your “everyday living” items… Clothes I know clothes are the hardest to pack, especially for us women! This tends to vary for each person and will depend on the length of your trip, but I will say that you need to pack for all weather types. No matter where you are in the U.S., the weather can change quickly! We were surprised by the temperatures in many places. It rarely seemed to be the weather we expected. Now, this doesn’t mean you need to bring everything in your closet. rv lighting ideas https://www.rvlivingusa.com/15-rv-lighting-ideas-for-a-more-homey-rig/
Try to limit yourself to 1 or 2 of each of the following items:
coat/jacket, swimsuit, sweatshirt and sweatpants, tennis shoes, etc. Find solid clothes that can pair well with many things. People often refer to this as the “capsule” wardrobe. While there are variations, the concept is to have around a dozen staple pieces of clothing in coordinating colors that can be worn often and interchangeably, thereby saving closet space but still giving you up to 30 or more different outfits. Google it and you’ll find tons of resources to help!
Other household items
When it comes to bathroom and kitchen items, my general advice is to bring 1-2 per person in the RV. So things like towels, plates, cups/mugs, etc you won’t need your standard full set of. Remember, there is not much sink space for dirty dishes and not much hamper space for dirty clothes and linens. Dishes are washed immediately after use and towels are washed weekly, so there’s really no need for spare items.
The rest is up to you!
Everything else is pretty much up to your own discretion. If you can find a spot for it in the RV and think it will get used on a regular basis, bring it! Just be cautious of your RV’s weight limits. You’ll be VERY surprised at how quickly weight can add up.
You also don’t want clutter. Make sure everything has a safe spot where it won’t get broken during travel. Invest in tubs, baskets, and storage items that will help you stay organized. You definitely don’t want your small space feeling even smaller because of all the items inside of it it. I hope these tips help you minimize your items in order to maximize your adventure! If you need more tips or suggestions for what to bring along in your RV, feel free to send us a message. We’re here to help. rv toothbrush holder https://www.rvlivingusa.com/best-wall-mounted-toothbrush-holder-for-rv-bathroom-that-never-fails-to-impress/
5 items that improved RV life for us!
After a year of full-time RVing, we slowly added these items to our home on wheels and they greatly improved RV life for us. We never expected to want or need these items when we first started out and love sharing them with newbie RVers!

5 Totally New Ikea Items Bound for Greatness in 2019—and 2 That Will Bomb
Ikea; realtor.com
Attention, home shoppers: The 2019 Ikea catalog has arrived! This annual bible of budget-friendly furnishings marks a special occasion this year—it’s the Swedish megachain’s 75th anniversary. And, true to form, this 286-page catalog is packed with so many brand-new products, some might find it hard to pick.
This is especially true since, let’s face it, Ikea’s offerings can be bargain furnishings at their very best—or real clunkers that are hair-tearingly hard to assemble that then quickly fall apart. So, to help you separate the good from the bad, we got designers to rifle through this catalog’s pages and point out which new items they’d predict are bound for greatness—as well as those that are bound to bomb.
What to buy
1. Gradvis vase
This dusty pink vase can hold flowers or stand alone as a decoration.
Ikea.com
A great accent accessory can bring out a room’s best attributes. Upgrade your home quickly (and cheaply!) with this stylish Gradvis vase ($7.99, Ikea.com).
“This vase is really on trend,” says Drew Henry, founder of Designer Dudes. “I love the shape and the dusty pink pastel finish.”
Plus, shoppers can snag this piece for a bargain compared with designer look-alikes, according to Henry. “It looks like a lot of higher-end items I’ve seen at stores like West Elm,” he says.
2. Nissedal mirror
A versatile mirror is a staple for any home.
ikea.com
Cheryl Eisen, a luxury designer and CEO of Interior Marketing Group in New York City, recommends this timeless white mirror ($49.99, Ikea.com).
“Interior design and staging are all about playing tricks on the eye, and [this] piece doubles the visual square footage of any room,” she says.
While the Nissedal mirror comes in more than one size, this particular style can be hung vertically or horizontally—whatever looks best in your space.
3. Stocksund sofa
High legs and a classic print are the selling points for this sofa.
Ikea.com
The 2019 version of this traditional sofa ($599, Ikea.com) is available only in stores, but Henry says it’s worth the drive to your closest Ikea location.
“I love the bold fabric choice and the fact that the legs are a little higher,” he says. “I think this would be a great focal point for a living room.”
The tailored cover with piping and pleats adds a modern flair to a classic couch, and being able to see under the sofa will make your room feel bigger.
Bonus: The thick, pocket-spring cushions create a comfy spot to watch a movie or take a nap.
4. Bjurksnas queen bed frame
The Scandinavian style on this bed frame is increasingly popular.
Ikea.com
This minimalist frame ($429, Ikea.com) is built from natural materials, and its Scandinavian look isn’t going away anytime soon, says Alessandra Wood, interior design expert and director of style at home design site Modsy.
“The subtle accents, like those leather straps and beautiful birch wood, give it a little more personality and can still make a statement” she says.
Although Henry agrees that the frame is reasonably priced and boasts a unique style, he warns that it might not be great if you like to lean on your headboard while, say, watching TV: “The headboard doesn’t look like it will offer any support.”
5. Havsen apron sink
Upgrade your kitchen with this apron sink.
Ikea.com
The thick edges and simple design of this Havsen sink ($186, Ikea.com) caught the eye of Suzanne Falk of Suzanne Falk Interior Design, in Riverwoods, IL.
“It looks like a solid, white farm sink for a great price,” she says.
The sink’s all-white detail can add a traditional look to any kitchen, plus it can be built into an island. And thanks to its easy-to-clean ceramic surface, you won’t be stuck scrubbing away grime after a meal.
What not to buy
Our interior designers also scanned all the products and picked out the pieces that they think don’t belong in your home. In terms of comfort, quality, and what’s going to boost your space to the next level, these are the two items our experts say might not be smart buys:
1. Videbak rug
A rug should accent a room, but this model might curb your creativity.
Ikea.com
Henry thinks a rug can add dimension to any room—but not when the colors are distracting from your other well-curated pieces. Unfortunately, this Videbak rug ($149, Ikea.com) dominates a space.
“The pattern and colors on this rug feel way too specific for me,” he says. “Once you purchase it, you would be pretty much confined to just these colors.”
Plus, once the colors are out of style, you’d have to redo the entire room. Instead, Henry suggests opting for a neutral rug with texture rather than color. This way, you can still set a mood for the room, but you can achieve a softer feel that draws guests’ eyes up instead of down.
2. Franklin bar stools
A stool needs to be sturdy, and these don’t look like they can hold much weight.
Ikea.com
We’re going to go out on a limb and say that you wouldn’t want your foldable chairs to collapse underneath your guests. These Franklin bar stools ($29.99, Ikea.com) might be easy to fold and store, but they don’t look like they can support a lot of weight.
“I would not trust my body to sit on that as a bar stool!” says Falk, who advises against purchasing these for your next family get-together or game night.
