The early days of radiation treatment for cancer. Radiation technicians Nancy Brown, right, and Isabelle Nauer illustrate the use of the Cobalt “bomb” machine at Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx as the new therapy unit makes its bow, February 7, 1953. Nauer wears a plaster cast of the type molded on a patient’s head in a brain tumor case. After conventional x-rays locate the tumor, the cast is marked so that the Cobalt unit can be directed at the same point during each treatment. The “bomb” came from Canada’s Chalk River Atomic Energy pile and produced more radiation than all the world’s medically used radium.

I'm the same age as ni-ki. If a normal person like me has trouble sleeping and a light sleeper, and if someone wakes me up just an hour later I've slept, my whole body starts shaking and if i didn't get to sleep at all for more than 20 hours my head literally started spinning and i couldn't concentrate properly to whatever I'm doing, AND THIS IS EVEN WORSE. IMAGINE CHANGING TIME ZONES EVERY OTHER DAY WITH NO SLEEP AND WITH NON STOP WORK, DANCE PRACTICES DESPITE HAVING PROBLEM WITH THEIR HEALTHS‼️

DANCING AND SINGING FOR HOURS WITH JUST A FEW HOURS OF SLEEP ARE YOU KIDDING ME!????

AND THEY LITERALLY SAID THEY PREFER LONGER FLIGHTS JUST BECAUSE THEY GET TO SLEEP AND REST PROPERLY ON FLIGHTS!!??? NO DORM? NO BEDS? BUT ON LITERALLY FLIGHT SEATS!!??

THIS IS COMFORTABLE??? THEIR FLIGHTS IS THEIR HOME OR WHAT????

HOW CAN THEY TREAT THEIR IDOLS LIKE THEY ARE SOME KIND OF MACHINE!????

THE COMPANY OWNER IS NOT HUMAN??? TO SEE WHAT OTHER HUMAN'S ARE GOING THROUGH RIGHT NOW!!!!? OR THEY JUST DON'T CARE AT ALL????

HOW TF THEY'RE LITERALLY MAKING ANOTHER COMEBACK IN SEPTEMBER????

GIVE THEM A BREAK AT LEAST FOR 2 MONTHS WITH NO SCHEDULE NO CHANGING COUNTRIES AND NO FILMING NOT EVEN EN O'CLOCK.

WE CAN WAIT FOR THEM TO RECOVER FIRST AND THEN START WORKING AGAIN.

Hello! I think you may have meant to send this to @/wavesoutbeingtossed haha! But I’m very excited by this question because I think Taylor drew a lot of inspiration from Dance Fever! (Evidenced by her including Free and King on the Eras preshow playlist.)

I have some tags floating around somewhere where I discuss this more but TTPD references a lot of female figures who were cursed both by outside forces and their own desire. Eve is tempted to eat the apple, the wicked fairy curses Sleeping Beauty at birth, but her own curiosity draws her towards the spindle, Cassandra accepts the gift of prophecy and is punished by Apollo for not loving him in return, and the artists in Clara Bow both aspire to leave town themselves and are encouraged by the industry that ultimately breaks them.

And this idea is ALL over Dance Fever, with the added context of a pandemic, which Florence imagines was her punishment for taking stardom for granted:
