Honestly, I've always thought that Suyin could be a good "mom"/"aunt" figure to Bolin, since they parallel each other a lot in how they deal with their trauma (similarly to how Mako and Lin parallel each other), I think I made a longer post about that lol
I liked how reassuring Suyin was when offering to teach him metalbending, and she already has a penchant for adoptibg people into her family. And Bolin clearly longs to have familial connections.
Lin is the final boss in Bolin's "I need everybody to like me" campaign.
#plus with him dating one if Su's kids (most would say Opal but I say Wei lol)#it would be easy to sorta bring him into the fold#bolin#lin beifong#suyin beifong

Opal: I still can't believe you're married to Wu
Asami: all the stupid things he did and you said I wanna put a ring on it *snorts*
Mako: y'all don't wanna play this game with me
Asami: ooh I'm so scared (playful jabs him)
Opal: Pfft what are you gonna do?
Mako: Fine. You asked for it. Wu isn't the smartest but Korra and Bolin are just as chaotic and stupid as him.
Opal: Bolin is sweet. And he's your brother!
Asami: You also dated Korra!
Mako: Yes I did date Korra and Bolin is my brother. However I also had to prevent those from using a lava blade to get unstuck from a finger trap yesterday.
Asami: I put one of those on Wu and he was stuck for hours.
Opal: I don't even think he tried to get out of it.
Mako: I'm not having biological kids with Wu.
Asami: (7 months pregnant).......
Opal: (just found out she was pregnant).......
Mako: and you know there's at least a 50/50 chance that they end up just as crazy as Korra and Bolin.

Suyin Beifong is such a weird character narratively
In many ways, she's the weirdest character in ATLA or LoK in her place in the story, considering her actions and beliefs. Let's just walk through everything.
Suyin got herself involved in criminal activities and street gangs as a kid and helped rob stuff. Then she scarred Lin when Lin tried to arrest her for that. And the fallout from that is implied to have led to Toph retiring.
After that, Suyin was sent to live with her (extremely wealthy) grandparents. After a while, she left them and began traveling the world and trying out various things, including being part of a traveling circus, living in a sandbender commune, and joining the crew of a pirate ship. Note that pirates rob and kill people. Note also that Suyin seems to have felt just about zero remorse for any of the above, and expected and demanded that Lin forgive her for everything without getting an apology.
Eventually, Suyin had had enough of all the traveling and robbing and killing and circus performing, so she used her vast, vast family wealth and bought a plot of land to build her own city on.
Zaofu seems to be essentially a Beifong family dictatorship defined by Suyin's ideological beliefs. As far as I can tell, the guiding principles of the city are "progress," "modernity," harmony, order, and control. After all, as Suyin says "Thanks to Aiwei, there are no secrets in our city," and she evidentially likes that a lot. The degree to which Suyin values absolute control over her city can also be seen in how incredibly outraged she gets when Kuvira, Baatar Jr., and some other citizens decide to leave on their own initiative. Her anger at Aiwei's betrayal ("I want you to hunt down Aiwei and bring him back to me") also fits the same pattern. Interestingly, Kuvira always claims to have gotten 90% of her fascist ideology from Suyin and Zaofu, and I actually think she was telling the truth, that Zaofu was a city organized on proto-fascist principles and Kuvira merely applied its principles to the wider Earth Kingdom.
Now perhaps we should turn to Suyin's relationship with Kuvira, which always seems very odd to me. Suyin took Kuvira in when Kuvira was a young child and trained her and claims "Kuvira was like a daughter to me." Yet Suyin never seems to really treat Kuvira like a daughter when the two interact on screen, nor do Suyin's children seem to see Kuvira as a sister. Notably, when Suyin introduces her family to Korra, she doesn't include Kuvira, nor is Kuvira invited to the dinners with Team Avatar. It's all very weird.
Anyways, Korra first arrives at Zaofu, Suyin seems to expect her, the Avatar, to stay in Zaofu relatively permanently to personally tutor Opal in airbending. The idea that Korra has other important responsibilities which don't involve personally serving Suyin's interests doesn't seem to cross Suyin's mind. We also find that Suyin is sheltering Varrick and Zhu Li, awful, highly amoral criminals, from justice since they're useful. On the plus side, Suyin is willing to personally teach Korra and even Bolin metalbending. She even eventually offers an apology to Lin for her behavior when younger, an something which helps reconciles the siblings. Suyin even allows Opal to leave for the Northern Air Temple.
Then the Red Lotus attacks, Suyin helps drive them off, etc. Everyone realizes that the Red Lotus had inside help, Suyin uses Aiwei the lie detector to search for the traitor, it turns out Aiwei was the traitor, he flees, Suyin is suitably outraged, and so on. Then we get to something "interesting": Korra wants Team Avatar to go after Aiwei, Lin (correctly) points out that this is way too dangerous, and then Suyin lies to and deceives Lin to make her think Suyin agrees with her and go bed, before personally sending Team Avatar after Aiwei anyways, something which goes very poorly. Suyin and Lin have barely reconciled, and practically first thing Suyin does is lie to and manipulate her sister. And yeah, Lin is pretty pissed that Suyin "stabbed her in the back" next time they talk, but essentially the entire thing blows over with zero consequences for Suyin.
The next thing that Suyin really does in the narrative is lead Zaofu's security forces to help Korra, Team Avatar, Lin, and Tonraq take on the Red Lotus and rescue the airbenders. This is objectively a good thing, but it's also interesting, considering what we later learn about Suyin's isolationist beliefs. However, it's worth pointing out that Suyin had several personal motives for her actions here: Her daughter Opal is one of the airbending hostages, Lin her sister is evidentially going to be involved, and the Red Lotus had the temerity to attack Zaofu and Suyin is probably pretty pissed about that. Without these "ulterior" motives, I doubt Suyin would have been willing to get involved. Then Suyin helps everyone else defeat the Red Lotus, but doesn't really do anything too interesting as part of that. Cut to Book 4.
What Suyin mostly does through Book 4 is oppose Kuvira, but we still get some interesting material as part of that. We learn that Suyin was asked to help stabilize the Earth Kingdom between books, but she refused. Considering how the children she raised ended up handling things, it's very likely that Suyin would have ended up becoming a (bigger) fascist dictator, so Suyin's refusal is also probably a good thing, even though refusing to provide aid to a country in anarchy probably isn't the best thing.
Kuvira and Baatar Jr. disagree about this, and they leave for Ba Sing Se with "Varrick, my security force, and a few of Zaofu's wealthiest citizens." Suyin is so outraged she responds by declaring them (or at least Kuvira) exiles, forever banished from Zaofu. We also see the start of a couple tendencies which will reoccur in the season. These are Suyin blaming Kuvira for Baatar Jr.'s bad actions and Zaofu's citizens being pretty OK with Kuvira and her actions, while only the Beifong family hates her.
Next time we see Suyin, it's at Prince Wu's "coronation." Normally Suyin would absolutely despise a royal idiot like Wu, but she hates Kuvira so much that she's willing to join the other world leaders in imposing him on the Earth Kingdom (as a useful lackey?). After that doesn't work out, Suyin tries to convince Kuvira to step down, something which goes poorly.
A couple episodes later, Kuvira shows up with an army and demands Suyin surrender Zaofu, something that Suyin understandably is pissed about. Mutual recriminations result, Suyin again blames Kuvira for all the actions of her fascist dictator son, and so on. Korra tries to continue negotiations, but Suyin has already left to try to assassinate Kuvira in her sleep. That's maybe a reasonable reaction to what Kuvira is doing, but it's an odd way to treat someone who is "like a daughter" to you. There's also evidence that Suyin doesn't really get that people are legitimately loyal to Kuvira and legitimately believe in her ideology, or that Baatar Jr. agrees with Kuvira, is equally complicit in her policies, and would continue leading the Earth Empire in its conquests if she died. Anyways, Suyin's attempt fails, she ends up captured, and ultimately she's forced to watch Zaofu's citizenry bow to Kuvira and cheer her. Although there was still coercion involved, the fact that only the Beifong family refused to bow is still evidence that the "Metal Clan's" general population has a reasonably positive view of Kuvira and her ideology and the only reason the Beifongs don't is because they have a personal vendetta against her. After all, Kuvira's ideology derives from Zaofu.
After that, Suyin doesn't do too much, narratively. She escapes with her family from Kuvira and Baatar Jr.'s prison for them and she opposes Kuvira's attempt to conquer Republic City. Again, that's objectively a good thing, but Suyin opposing it also makes perfect sense given the depth of her vendetta against Kuvira. The only interesting thing is that Suyin instantly forgives her fascist dictator son and doesn't hold him the least bit accountable for his actions, while continuing to hate Kuvira after she apologizes. Again, more evidence that Suyin does not, in fact, view Kuvira as a part of the family.
Overall, Suyin is narratively very weird. Based on all that I've discussed above, it's clear that she's very much not a good person, nor is she particularly likeable. She basically runs a mini-fascist dictatorship, after all. Yet Suyin not only gets a massive amount of narrative attention (it seems like some of the writers really liked the idea of her and her family), but is always an ally of the protagonists and is never held truly accountable for her actions. Considering who she is as a person and her backstory, having her be an antagonist or villain would in many ways make more sense, but that's not the route they went.
TLoK was really into giving its antagonists half-assed redemption/quasi-redemption arcs (Tarrlok, Desna and Eska, Varrick, Zhu Li, Tahno, Zaheer, Hiroshi Sato, Baatar Jr., Kuvira), but Suyin doesn't really fit into this paradigm, since she was never an antagonist in the first place. The only characters across ATLA and TLoK who really remind me of her, in terms of being bad people who are never really called out by the narrative, are King Bumi, Varrick and Zhu Li, and Iroh.
Of these, King Bumi is a complete dick, but he's a much more minor character than Suyin and gets away with a lot due to being a "comedy" character.
Varrick is an absolutely awful person, but the narrative lets him avoid consequences for that since he's likeable and funny. Zhu Li really just tags along with his narrative.
Iroh is morally grey at best in the present and morally black in the past, but again the narrative avoids calling him out about it since he's funny and likeable and nice to the most audience sympathetic character, Zuko. The narrative even starts painting him as perfect and a saint after a certain point, something which continued in TLoK.
Suyin isn't like any of them. She's not a comedy character. She's not funny or likeable. And it's not like the narrative paints her as perfect, like it does for Iroh. She sometimes suffers the consequences of her actions, and I think she's supposed to come off as significantly flawed. On the other hand, the narrative never really calls out Suyin for any of her terrible behavior, bad actions, or general bullshit. She's never held truly accountable in any way for anything. It's all very odd.

Who is Pabu's favourite member of the Beifong family? Least favourite?
Hmmm.... that's an interesting question. I always kinda in my head assumed thay Pabu likes the Beifongs, specifically the Zaofu Crew bcs they have a lot of shiny things he can steal. I wrote a small blurb from Pabu's pov where I had him refer to the Beifongs as "magpies" because a lot of them flit around in the air (thanks to their wires), have long robes with billowing sleeves that kinda look like bird wings and tails and ofc are covered in shinies. (
I was gonna have him refer to Lin and the metalbending Police as large cockroaches due to their armour reminding me of bug carapaces, but decided it was too mean, soLin is just a... particularly crusty magpie.
Therefore I think he at least likes to steal from the Zaofu Crew. Any statue of Huan's that isn't bolted down or the size of a grown man will be dragged accross the floor. All of Wei's jewellery will mysteriously happen to appear under Bolin's bed (Pabu does take Wei's jewellery to Bolin specifically. Bcs he's a wingman). Suyin's trinkets and baubles will have little chewmarks on them, but she finds it endearing.
I think Suyin likes Pabu and lets him get away with mischief. She probably also sneaks him treats under the table which is very appreciated. She is Pabu's grandma lol.
Huan hated Pabu bcs Pabu disrespected his art. Up until the twins and Opal dipped Pabu's paws in paint and let him run around a blank canvas which moved Huan to tears as it was the deepest piece of self expression he'd ever witnessed.
I think Pabu likes Opal bcs he knows Opal is enamoured by him. I headcanon that Opal wanted a pet as a kid but Su said no because they already had Kuvira who is kinda like a rabid squirrel. So when Opal saw the adorable ball of fluffiness she immediately was smitten. And you KNOW Bolin trained Paby to help him rizz up people. She takes Pabu in the divorce.
Wing, much like Opal, also wanted a pet and he tries to play with Pabu all the time. He chases Pabu around a lot. Sometimes Pabu likes it. Sometimes he wants Wing to fuck off.
Wei is ambivalent to Pabu but will be broken down slowly as Pabu tries to wingman for Bolin. Wei particularly doesn't like when Pabu brings him dead mice.
I think Pabu is very inquisitive about Lin and will try to play with her often, much to her chagrin. He doesn't really understand tha Lin doesn't want to play with him, because Bolin and Pabu's play does seem to also involve a lot of grabbing and tossing. So everytime Lin tries to pry him off her or get him away he just thinks 'yay ☺️ playtime". Lin hates him dearly.
I think Pabu has a similar relationship with Toph, exept Toph actually likes him, since he kinda reminds her of Momo. Especially sincw she cant see the obvious visual distinction. Toph will roughhouse him and play with him pretending to dislike him but will secretly have so much fun.
Ahhh, some things never change.
Pabu canonically dislikes Kuvira...
... and I have no reason to believe he would be any kinder to Baatar Jr. He probably has baped Baatar's glasses off the table at least once while maintaining direct eye contact.

Bending being genetic is easy until it's from people with ancestry from more than one nation lmao. Like Katara? Descended from waterbenders only, so obviously a waterbender. Aang? Again, full Air Nomad. Their kids? Very obviously are either gonna be airbenders, waterbenders or non benders.
If Sokka and Suki had had children, that child could have been a non-bender or a waterbender since Sokka also carries the gene. The kid might also be an earthbender, since Suki is from the Earth Kingdom and she might have earthbenders ancestors.
Now, if we're talking about, for example, Bolin and Opal having kids in the future it's more random: they might be a non-bender, an airbender since Opal is an airbender, an earthbender since Bolin is and Opal's mother is as well, or they might get a little surprise and get a firebender since Bolin is half Fire Nation and his own brother is a firebender. Have fun guessing when they're born I guess lmao.

Arm wrestling
Preface:
I recently watched TLOK for the first time, and the idea for this has been floating around in my head for a hot minute. If I don’t divest my system of it, the chances of me being productive tomorrow are slim to none. o7 god speed soldier. Also I love Bolin and Opal, but it is inconvenient to consider, so we will say that the relationship ended naturally at some point after the series.
It’s hot. It’s always fucking hot in here, but tonight the unseasonable warmth makes it unbearable. Even though the sun had been down for several hours, the black star filled night was no respite. The buzzing of the city kept these alleys and hole-in-the-wall bars well above sweating temperature. It reminds you of the frantic beating of bees' wings attempting to assassinate an unworthy queen with their body heat. You suppose you’re that queen.
The crowd you have gathered is smaller than usual, but that ought to be expected with how terrible the weather is. Nobody in their right mind would be in a place like this on a night like tonight. Another bead of sweat slides down the small pieces of hair that have fallen about your face, red from both the heat and from exertion. You take another swig from the nearly empty water skin at your side. Shit. You’ll need to refill that soon; dehydration is NOT an option. The buzzing crowd needed your attention though. Beneath the flickering yellow bulbs of the bar their eyes seem almost predatory. Shaking off the feeling you stood, plastering an arrogant smirk on your face, before addressing them.
“So… Who is my next challenger hmm? Anyone here think they’re stronger than tough guy over there?” The man you gestured to, whom you had just beaten handily at a wagered arm wrestle, sneered, and slapped several coins onto the bar before storming out. He didn’t even finish his drink. Walking over to the abandoned pint glass (well there’s no sense in wasting it) you point to a large bearded man who had been watching the match intently. “How about you. I’m sure you could beat me! I’ll bet 20 yuans that you couldn’t!” Picking up the drink you sniff, and determining it to be palatable, throw it down. It’s extra water right? At least you tell yourself that as it burns down your esophagus. You stand there for a minute, goading the crowd to approach you. On busier nights it may only take seconds for another pompous dude to walk up, and challenge you. They often do so without seeing the previous round, and only because they believe it to be easy money. Why wouldn’t I be able to beat some unathletic, five foot nothing girl? She’s probably drunk, and overestimating herself… On this night however, your swift victory drew almost every eye in the spot, making other challengers wary. A sting shot up the tendons of your right arm. Maybe it's a bad idea to push your luck like this. Before you can really consider it, a tall young (pretty) man practically bounces toward you.
“I’ll arm wrestle you!!!” A more genuine smile threatens to break your mask. Who is this kid? He ran up to you like a puppy. You can almost see a tail wagging behind him. Wait what? You can for sure see a tail. OH, ok, there’s a fire ferret in his shirt. Weird, but not as weird as you thought, anyways. He just looked so excited. You know it’s going to suck to break his spirit. Oh well.
“Alright then, what’s your bet?” The man shuffles in place, rifling through his pockets for a moment before pulling out a couple yuan. Your eyebrow arches at the small wager, and you sigh. There’s no sense in wasting it. Looping back to your table, you set down ‘your’ drink on the empty next table over. Looking with resolve at the green eyed man, you place your elbow in the middle of the table, hand opened outward. Under the new lighting something about him strikes you. “Wait a minute, you’re in the movers aren’t you? I didn’t recognize you at first without the shorts!”
“It’s true. I guess I can’t go anywhere these days without getting recognized.” the man commented to the small group that finally caught up with him. The spiky haired man to his left held his brow in one hand, and was rubbing his temples slowly. The actor looked back at you, beaming. “I’m Bolin, or as you may know me, Nuktuk, hero of the south!” The fire ferret tucked into his shirt scurried onto his shoulders as he said it, framing his head like one of the mover posters you’ve seen around. You giggled at them. They had to have practiced that. (This guy was also a pro bender at one point right? This might be a VERY bad idea.)
“I’m Y/N, Hero! Of” you glance for a moment around you at the seedy dive, “Well its nothing too important.” Despite your better judgment you stay. Bolin grasps your hand in his. Hoping to the spirits the redness on your face hadn’t deepened because of his hand holding yours, you rattle off the challenge rules.
“Elbows must be in contact with the table for the entire round, the loser is the first person who's hand back touches the table, and no weapons… You wouldn’t believe how many people bring weapons.” you say, shaking your head disappointedly. Crucially, ‘no bending’ has never been included in your standard rulebook. It helps to believe that what you’re doing isn’t REALLY lying, or illegal. It’s just misleading. You nod at a customer beside you, whom you had solicited previously to start the other matches. They sigh, but begrudgingly say, “Three. Two. One. START.” You tend to start matches without any help. You never want to really hurt anyone’s pride. You just want their money. After struggling for approximately half a second though, it is clear that you are physically outmatched. This fact isn’t helped by your distraction at the prominent veins coiling up his forearm to his bulging bicep that dwarfs your own significantly. Shit. Ok, panic button. With your left arm hidden beneath the table you begin bending, little by little. The familiar burning pain coursed through your right arm as the muscle fibers stiffened, pulled taut manually by your bending. It isn’t really blood bending, that’s illegal, and it isn’t even on anyone else! All your doing is just giving yourself an edge, and it’s not blood really, you’re just kinda messing with the muscle tissue. Your, and Bolin’s hands began to rotate the opposite direction. The shock in Bolin’s face is hidden from you, as your eyes were shut, your face screwed up in agony. One thing about the pain, it made the act more realistic. You had Bolin’s hand probably three inches from the table surface when something unexpected happened.
You stopped moving. Your surprise overcame the pain for a moment, just long enough to steal a glance at the earthbender’s face. Pure determination molded his features into a stone wall. His arm too, was like stone. No person had ever been able to stop you in your tracks like this. For a moment you were both completely still. The next moment the air was punctuated by a loud snap. You let go immediately, your bending forgotten, as a scream of shocked agony tore through you. Bolin let go, the offending arm flopping uselessly to the table. The jolt of the fracture on the hard table sent another wave of pain up through your shoulder… and that's about the last thing you remember from before you awoke here.
Bolin’s perspective:
Bolin screamed probably as loud as you did after breaking your arm. Mako’s eyes blew out wide as he realized what happened. “What did you do?!” Makos voice piped up for the first time since arriving. Bolin, who had stood, and was now supporting your limp form was having a little bit of a freak out. “UM.” he said. “I was just arm wrestling, and her arm… and then she passed out..” Bolin was almost at the point of tears. Mako, stood, and shook his shoulder. “Hey. Calm down, we’ll just take her to Korra, she can heal it. But what the hell? How do you just snap someones whole arm?” The last comment did not in fact, help him to calm down. Bolin pulled you into a fireman’s carry, your broken arm hanging free. As the two left the bar, unconscious you in toe. The bartender didn't even look up. Prick.
“You broke her arm?” Korra’s voice echoed in the open courtyard of air temple island. Realizing her mistake, she switches to a harsh whisper while leading the trio to a fountain surrounded by stone benches. Her hair stuck out at odd angles, messy from sleep. “And why did you bring her here? There’s a hospital in this city for a reason, they have perfectly capable healers.” Despite her words, she pulled a cord of water from the fountain, sculpting it into a gentle glowing blob around the point of fracture.
“Air temple island happened to be closer.” Mako replied, not mentioning that the thought hadn’t even occurred to him. Bolin had settled behind you, resting your head on his lap instead of the hard stone. He felt incredibly guilty, and it showed in every line of his face.
“She’s going to be okay right? I’ve never seen someone just pass out like that.” Korra, sensing his concern, answered.
She’ll be alright, honestly the fracture itself isn’t that terrible. You’ve gotten hit worse in the arena… but.” The avatar trailed off, almost confused, focusing more intently on the arm she was healing.
Your perspective: Your eyes fluttered open, met by a set of brilliant green ones. The light of the dive didn’t do them justice. Now in the clear starlight and gentle glow, they are breathtaking. What is that glow anyways? Turning your gaze (rather reluctantly) you see your arm, coated in warm light. Is that the avatar? Shit. You finally got yourself killed with that stupid scam. At least you made it to somewhere nice in the afterlife. Or maybe you were just in the weird loopy time right before death. Bolin’s relieved voice convinced you that you were in fact not dead though.
“She’s awake!” he exclaimed, strong hand rubbing gentle circles on your shoulder where you lay on his thighs. (ON HIS WHAT). You stuff down the jolt you felt at that realization, hoping that the avatar couldn’t feel your heart rate increasing. Oh yeah, the avatar. You sat up, the awkwardness of the moment finally hitting you. You let out a nervous chuckle.
“Haha, it takes more than that to take me out… um. Hi. the avatar.” you glance up again at Bolin. I guess this guy really is famous.
“Hi. Korra is fine” her voice clipped short, you thought for a moment she must be angry, but her eyes were closed, and her brow furrowed in deep concentration. OH. You pulled your arm out of the water reflexively.
“Oh, I really am sorry. Thank you for fixing my arm, I really appreciate it.” Your wet sleeve dripped a trail behind you as you glanced around you, stopping short as you finally realized your location. Bolin followed you up off the bench.
“You should really take it easy for a minute! You fainted, and I broke your arm! I really am sorry about that by the way. You are like REALLY strong by the way. Like crazy strong. He caught up to you, and placing a supportive hand on your upper back, tacked on another “I’m sorry for breaking your arm.” for good measure.
“I.” you look back, Korra now standing with her arms crossed in front of her, Mako mirroring his stance (I don’t care that she doesn’t know his name, I’m not writing that in. We’ll say she knows it from pro bending, OK?). Korra broke the silence of your less than half hearted explanation.
“Something isn’t right. The fracture healed perfectly, but there’s something else wrong with your arm. It’s almost like its filled with scar tissue. I’m surprised you can even move it!” Your eyes go wide.
“Um.” you mutter, looking once more around at the gazebos and courtyards of air temple island for a good escape route. Not seeing one, you resign yourself to your fate. “Yeah. I guess I owe you an explanation.” you tilt your head to one side, looking once more at Bolin’s adorable, now confused, face. As you sit down once again Korra reaches for another ball of water, but you wave her off. “It’s alright.” she lets it flow back into the fountain.
“So I run this scam. It’s really not as bad as it sounds. I only take what people are willing to throw away.” That bit is mostly for yourself. “I just take advantage of people's preconceptions! Nobody thinks that I can beat them physically, and they’re generally right, so I level the playing field.” You trail off, hesitating to admit to them what you refuse to admit to yourself. “I just bend my arm. I’ve never done it to anyone else, I don’t even know if I could.”
Korra cuts you off, and you’re grateful. Hot tears have begun to sting behind your eyes, you raise your face to the starlight, fending them off.
“You’re a bloodbender.” the word falls through the pit in your stomach, making your extremities blanch cold in the warm air.
“NO.” you shudder, and the tears fall silently. “I am just a person trying to make a living! I never asked for it. I never even wanted to. But it’s here, and it’s mine. So I use it.” The words are chopped, and breathy in the hot nighttime. “Look, I'm sorry. I’m sorry I misled you, I’m sorry about your money.” You step toward Bolin. Digging through your pockets for the handful of yuan he had presented you. Failing to find it you glance down, but a second later you find your face buried in soft green linen. Bolin’s arms around you are firm and unwavering. You cling to him like a mollusk on the rocks, as you begin to cry in earnest.
“It’s ok. It’s going to be ok.” He says softly, and it breaks you. Silent sobs rack your chest. As your sin is laid bare before the starlight, and you are forgiven. (is that too dramatic, the catholic guilt is coming in clutch) You stay like that for a minute, and your breathing calms. Finally you pull back, tearstained eyes meeting his. “I know what that’s like. To do what you need to to survive. You’re going to be ok. I promise.” His assurance threatens to send you into tears again, but for now you just look away. Pulling his hand forward, tracing the lines of his palm with your fingertips, you sniff. “Thank you.” squeezing his hand in yours. “Thank you.”
And then they get married and live happily ever after the end! byeeee
hopefully I can actually be productive now.
Also I’m not going to proof read or edit this 🤷♀️

Linumi Hc
An incomplete and not in order list Because my brain is running a hundred different directionssssss
He is 10 years older than her but nothing starts with them until after the Linzin breakup so Lin’s like 33 ish he’s 43, long after she’s established in the RCPD and Toph and Su are gone.
Bumi wasn’t a violent man towards family and friends but the next time Bumi was in port after he heard what Tenzin did to Lin. Dropping her for Pema. (And expecting a kid within a year of breaking up with Lin) he decked Tenzin in front of Pema and the other air acolytes on ATI. Dropping Tenzin like a sack of bricks to the stone. “That’s for Linny.” He all but spat at the dazed Tenzin.
They write a lot. A LOT a lot. Lin receives several letters at the same time because Bumi has to mail them all at the same port after a while at sea. She saves every one of them but she would never admit it and Bumi assumes she tosses them but they’re hidden under a stone in her house. Lin doesn’t write as often to him as it usually ends up at the wrong port for him to be able to collect it.
They’re actually married but NO ONE KNOWS because Lin won’t wear a ring when she’s at work and no one can catch her when she’s not at work and Bumi doesn’t feel the need to tell anyone if they haven’t figured it out yet (*cough* Tenzin being oblivious)
One time Korra catches Bumi kissing Lin while they think no one was around at ATI and she was shoook
Bumi didn’t get any updates on what happened after Amon until it was weeks after everyone was at Katara’s house and as soon as he heard about it he couldn’t get there fast enough and no one dared tell Commander Bumi II that he couldn’t leave his assignment to get to his wife after what they heard happened.
Lin was in such bad state omg all the other hc injuries and nightmares but she was so pale and sickly thin when he got to her. He pulled her close to him and Lin just breaks down crying and apologizing over and over. (The night terror / comfort ficsssss please I beg)
When Bumi gets his airbending Lin grows distant a bit not really a huge fan of the new development but not discouraging him from his excitement. They do eventually talk it out but that’s kinda post series.
Bumi frantically digging through the wreckage of Kuvira’s mech to find Lin. (A Fog Au where Lin and Su are thrown into the spirit world by the explosion and Lin gets lost in the fog of lost souls- I think I have a few of those posts somewhere still)
Bumi joking that Mako/Rina(oc) or Bolin/Opal need to give him and Lin grankids soon because he’s retired and his niblings are growing up and finding other things to spend their time on than joking around with uncle Bumi.
Bumi loves making Lin smile and always manages to get a smirk at least as he’s goofing off in company. Sometimes he gets a chuckle and his week is made. Nothing can beat his Linny smiling and laughing.
#linumi#hc#also like side note#height hc is that Bumi is like 6’7 he’s stupid tall and Lin’s like 5’3 ish 5’4#Kyalin has my entire heart but I have two hands lol

Don't Tell (part 2)
Mako x Reader (secret relationship)
Part 1 Part 3 Masterlist
Mako x Earthbender reader
You being touch starved for years suddenly have an intense crush on mako after he put himself in danger for you and the safety he provides following the attack. You both keep your relationship under wrap from the krew. You both don't want to deal with everything that follows them finding out.
You woke up in a warm bed. Mako was like a personal heater. He laid on his stomach with his arms folded, laying his head on the pillow that was over his hands. His back was covered by his tank top. You both decided not to take kissing any further. It was an unspoken understanding that one night of realization didn't warrant that kind of celebration, not this early. He wanted to keep you wondering about his body. It was a torturous type of pleasure.
He rolled over and wrapped his strong arms around you. You melted into him. It was one of the best night sleeps you've had. The first night in a long time, having someone hold you while you fell into slumber. Your dreams were etched with happy moments.
Mako woke up to a warm side to the bed that was normally cold and empty. He had taken time away from dating. As his arm healed from the shock of the spirit energy, his mind and heart healed too. He kept a distance but, slowly each joke that you told about the couples, like if they ever came up for air, or if they could get their tongues any deeper down each other's throats, it made him laugh just a little harder each time. When the group would joke that he was your other half when playing games that required pairs, it slowly got more painful as you rolled your eyes and denied it.
He had taken time to reflect on his relationship with asami and korra. He came to terms with the fact that it was the fact that girls never saw him as anything but a street rat, so when he was actually viewed as 'wanted,' he couldn't decide on anyone. He was a people pleaser to an extent that was to his own detriment. It was a foreign thought that someone wanted him, and two people wanting him was an overload to his system. Hurting one over the other was horrific and yet impossible to not do. He had come to an understanding that trying to please too many people would only cause him pain. He had to make decisions and be committed. As committed as he was to protect Bolin when they were kids. He promised himself he wouldn't be the young boy on the dirty street he once was, he was now a man of honor that would find one woman and dedicate himself to her even if it hurt someone else's feelings.
He kept that in his heart as you won it over. Each time, you playfully slapped his arm and smiled sweetly to him. He kept honor in his mind. Each man that Korra or Asami pushed you towards stayed engraved in his mind as a comparison.
Then when you talked about your date. He just 'happened' to take mental note about when and where you were going when you discussed it with the others. He knew the area wasn't safe at night from being an officer and staking out the area regularly at night.
Mako didn't want to stop you, but I just wanted to make sure you were safe, so he kept an eye out on the café just to make sure you were okay. He saw the entire situation unfold unknowingly to you. He notified the other officers when you were being chased.
He made sure to be there to pick up the pieces if anything happened, and when it did, he jumped into action, having your back. He just wanted you happy and safe.
Mako breathed in your scent with his arms around you. It was a reminder that yesterday was not just a dream. You were still here in his arms. He kissed the top of your head. "Good morning."
"Good morning." You buried your face into his chest. The smell of firebenders smoke still evident on him. Your heart fluttered.
The door of Mako's apartment suddenly burst open. "Mako!!! It's time to get up." Bolins voice boomed across the room. Opal was attempting to keep him from bursting into the bedroom.
You hopped up out of the bed and hid behind a shelf. It's just in time for Bolin to come barging in. "Mako, what are you still doing in bed? We have to go get your putt putt, buddy. So we can go play."
"Sorry w-I must have over slept. Hey, why don't we stop at the café we can get those paw print pastries, and you can get a new fire ferret charm for Opal."
"But what about your date?"
"Not my date. I'll surprise her with one. I can ride with you guys, so I'm going to leave my keys to my bike on my nightstand."
"Mako, you're acting weird, but I love surprises. Let's go." You heard bolin say as the door closed, and you waited for the footsteps to be gone before making your way to the parking lot. Makos clothes still draped across you loosely.
You hopped on his bike and raced to your apartment, which surprisingly wasn't far and the opposite direction from the café buying you time. You ran up to your door and quickly got dressed, a simple green long duel split tunic with black tight pants and a belt around your waist.
You hid makos clothes under your pillow and ran to your couch pretending to read like you've been doing it all morning. You hear a knock at the door. You open it and find a pawprint shaped food shoved in your face. Bolin held it happily.
"Isn't it so cute! Look, and Mako got the fire ferret Keychain for you, too."
"Good morning, everyone. Yes, it's adorable, Bolin. Thanks, guys." You grab the food and take a bite.
"So we're going to putt putt first, and then we're going to watch the new mover at the probending stadium." Bolin wrapped an arm around opal and walked back out, leading the group. You walked next to mako, hoping you had hidden mako's bike well enough. No one seemed to notice as you walked past. Opal's bison waited as everyone got on and took off to the putt putt course.
You got situated and watched the people become smaller. "Opal, I'm so jealous. I wish I could have a furry friend to fly me in the air. You're a good boy, Juicy." You pet
the fur that you could reach from where you sat. "He is a good boy. I'm more jealous of you. I could have used earth bending with my family."
"Yeah, your brothers seem like the type that you would need to have bending to survive living with them." You laughed sure of their teasing of the young Opal.
"Yeah, they were brutal for a little bit, but we straightened out." She giggled as Juicy landed at the course.
Bolin and Mako hop off. Opal jumps off Bolin catches her. You smiled happily at the couple. You took Makos' hands as he helped you down. Your hands lingered for just an extra moment while Opal and Bolin were preoccupied with each other. Makos eyes lingered on yours as he pulled his hand away. He searched, still making sure this morning wasn't just a false memory.
Your lips were sealed in the presence of the others, but your eyes spoke clearly. Your gaze dropped down to his lips, then back to his eyes. He smirked, knowing that you remembered the way his lips melted into yours just the night before.
"Are you two ready?" Bolin turned, and you two quickly turned away from each other.
You stared at your nails. "Just waiting for you two to get done playing tounge tennis. Who won the match... never mind, I don't want to know." You laughed, walking towards the entrance. Mako followed you, chuckling.
"We didn't even kiss this time." Bolin said.
Opal giggled. "Someone needs a boyfriend. Speaking of, I take it your date didn't go well?"
"No. A bunch of gang members showed up, and he ditched me to fight them on my own. I dont need a man to fight for me, but it would have been nice to have some backup."
"What a gentleman..." opal trailed sarcastically.
"Are you okay?" Bolin asked freaking out. He knew what the gangs were capable of.
"I'm fine. I got away." You smiled thinking about the other parts to the story you left out.
"Mako, you would've stayed to fight them off." Opal smirked, baiting you for a reaction.
"I don't need him too." You spoke simply and not like you were offended by the thought of her pushing mako into you romantically.
Opals eyebrows knitted together, not getting the expected over the top heated reaction but brushed it off.
You grabbed your golf club, and Mako grabbed his. His fingertips trailed your back as the couple grabbed theirs. You blushed as his hand gripped at your hip. He pulled his hand back as Bolin paid for the round of golf.
Mako rolled his eyes playfully, landing his eyes at you. He smirked, knowing you were enjoying the secret that you shared only with him. His eyes lifted back to the couple as they led the way to the first hole.
"Alright, the first hole is here." Bolin dropped his ball on the tee and got ready to hit. He hit the ball a little hard, but it came back and landed in the hole. Opal put hers down next and hit the ball perfectly in.
You bent down, placing your ball down on the tee. You lifted back up and hit the ball. You were a little gentle but made it.
Mako lifted his brow and lips into a smirk as you lifted back up from retrieving your ball. He could tell already you were purposely teasing him as you flicked your hair back up from your bent position, making sure to catch his eye.
The other couple was standing and looking over the next hole strategizing together. the first hole was always the easiest, so strategies were needed from here on out.
You watched as Mako hit the ball perfectly. His fingers touched his lips. He held his hand out to you, teasing you with a wink after making sure the others were still distracted.
Your back was to the pair, so they couldn't see your reaction. You giggled, silencing it with your hand cupping it over your mouth.
The group completed the holes and got to the last hole. You and Mako had been very safe but playful the entire time, never being noticed. Opal was about to hit. She lined up her shot and took it. If she hit perfectly, she would win. If she hit more than twice, then it would be up to Mako to win. She took the shot. It was perfect she had hit a hole in one. She cheered. Bolin caught her and spun her around.
You took your shot and made it in a few hits. Mako made it in two swings.
"Alright, love birds, I hate to interrupt, but what's next?" You laughed at the two.
"Well, I figured you wouldn't mind if I took Opal to go get some things for the mover tonight. We can meet at the front of the stadium."
"That sounds good to me. I need to go back home and change my clothes for the mover. I don't think this really suits the night." You nodded to the pair you returned your club and walked to the sidewalk at the other side of the building, waiting, hidden from the group.
Mako slowly returned his club and kept a slow pace to make sure they had left his view as they walked in the opposite direction. You grabbed Mako's arm as he passed by. You pulled him to lean his hands on the wall, standing in front of you. You lifted your chin, looking up at him. He was so close to you. One of his hands grabbed your waist as the top of your back leaned on the wall.
"Soo?" He asked.
"Thrilling." You spoke softly and leaned up to his lips. "We should have been doing this all along."
Mako smirked, kissing you quickly. He straightens back up and starts walking away. "I have to go to the station, but I'll see you tonight."
"Okay, I'll see you tonight." You ran up to him, stealing one more kiss, then turning the other direction towards your apartment.

tell us about the tlok gen 2 kids
ask and you shall receive!!!! making fankids is such an obsession of mine lol
so i have futures and kids planned out for pretty much everyone, but i'll just go over the main krew ships + kainora for now. and i'll try to keep it kind of brief but i have So Many thoughts about them so we'll see if i'm successful. i have like. an entire labelled timeline. it's wild
under a cut because this got so long holy crap
the easiest to start with is the bopal kids. they get married a couple years after the end of tlok and start having kids pretty soon after. they end up with four kids (somewhat considering adding a fifth but we'll see. there's already so many ocs)
their eldest is jade, who is an earthbender. then they have a pair of identical twin boys, named san and goji. san is named after bolin's father. san is an airbender, goji is an earthbender. their fourth child is a girl named tempa, who is an airbender. she actually ends up becoming blind later in life. not whatever toph had, as she was born seeing, but she had some degenerative disease that slowly took her eyesight. she actually ends up developing a technique similar to seismic sense, but with airbending, to help her get around! she keeps her head fully shaved so she can always feel vibrations in the air
the next up to have kids is, surprisingly, kai and jinora. this was not intentional on their part. but they've been dating since they were like 12-13, so i honestly don't think it's much of a stretch that they would end up becoming parents as teenagers. pema and tenzin are a bit upset that their daughter got pregnant at 17, but at this point they've accepted kai into the family, and they respect the young couple's decision to keep and raise the baby
and then after they have their first baby, they decide that they're going to hold off on getting married until their family is complete, so all their kids can be a part of the wedding. like bolin and opal, they end up having four kids as well. all of them are airbenders. their first born is a boy named sangye, second is another boy named tadashi, third is a girl named zaya, and fourth is a girl named tara. it's the jinora and tenzin parallels for me lol. two boys, two girls, four airbenders. despite their young age they are very good parents
then we have the korrasami babies. they have the smallest family, with just two kids. i did some research and as it turns out, sperm donation/artificial insemination procedures were a thing in the 1920s. of course they were WILDLY unethical at the time but hey, they did exist. this is how they end up with their kids. mako is the donor, which i know some people may find that weird but mako is their best friend, i feel like they would rather have a donor that they know and trust than just. some random guy
korra is pregnant with their first baby, who they name katara. she's a waterbender. asami is pregnant with their second baby, a little boy they name hiro, after asami's dad. hiro is a nonbender. they are literally the best moms ever <3
and last but not least, we have wuko's kids. for the longest time they are the cool, childless gay uncles. i think they're both really good with kids, but neither are ready to be parents for a long time. not to mention in my timeline it takes a solid ten years for wu to get the new democratic earth kingdom up and running smoothly enough that he can abdicate. and even after he abdicates and he and mako get married, they're still unsure about kids for a few more years. when they do decide to have kids, they both for sure want to adopt. i have a whole separate post i could make about mako quitting the police force to become a social worker and opening up a youth shelter. but he knows he wants to help out kids, so hopefully none suffer the way he and bolin did. wu does not want to have any bio kids, as he wants the royal bloodline to end with him so there is no possible claim to any kind of throne
but then korra and asami are like 'hey, if you guys want a baby, we're cool with helping out' because i mean mako already helped them have their family, they can do the same for him and wu. and since they're offering, mako and wu decide to take them up on it. korra ends up being a surrogate for them, and they welcome a little baby girl that they name naoki, for mako's mom
then, soon after naoki is born, they end up finding a trio of very young sisters out on the streets. their mother passed away, their father walked out on them, and they have no other family. the eldest girl is only 8 years old. when mako meets her it feels like he's looking into a window at his past self. the girls are very frightened, but mako and wu are able to earn their trust enough to help them out. and in the process of caring for them, they end up totally falling in love with these kids. they ask them if they want to be adopted. all three say yes
the girls are named kasumi, ryoko, and hikari. all three are firebenders. naoki also ends up being a firebender. there's so many firebenders in the wuko house. i'm also spreading my girldad mako agenda. him and wu taking these girls in and giving them a family is actually super emotionally healing for him. he's able to make sure another set of siblings out on the steet has a family
anyway that's a very basic rundown!! i love chatting about my next gen kiddos so so much so thanks for asking! and of course if anyone has any questions about specific kids or families please feel free to ask!!!

Which of Suyins kids do you think Lin gets along with the best? And why 👀👀
I definitely think she gets along best with Opal. In season 3, when we first find Opal, she is a bit of a mousy bookworm, but you can also tell she has a backbone from the way she rejects Bolin for acting weird.
By season 4, she is older and has gained confidence while serving with the new Air Nation. We also get to see more of her Beifong sass.
Check out this group mean-mug:
I think her and Lin get along because they are both introverts and don't need to fill the silences. Chronically busy Lin, therefore, enjoys just having her around.
I think Wing and Wei would be next in line. When Lin makes one of her visits to Zaofu, they definitely convince her to spar or play some power disk at one point and she enjoys it. She is quite athletic, and I think this is the way she would connect/gain fondness with them.

I just finished rewatching Legend of Korra, and now my writer brain is having thoughts™. Particularly Korrasami thoughts. I don't know if anyone's already came up with this, but seeing a post of an older Korra greeting the next Avatar inspired me - What if the next Avatar was Korra and Asami's daughter? So, some years after getting together and getting married, Korra and Asami want to have kids - of course, they could just adopt, but they want to try doing it the natural way. So they ask Bolin to be the surrogate father, with Opal's approval, and Korra gets pregnant. The first half of the pregnancy goes well, and Korra and Asami are so excited for their first child. But then things start going wrong in the second half of the pregnancy, and everyone is worried about Korra's declining health. Of course, Korra being Korra, she pushes through the pregnancy despite all the risks it poses, and as the actual birth rolls around, everyone's worst fear has come true. Korra dies in childbirth. Thanks to Bolin being the surrogate father, the child is born an earth bender, the next element in the cycle, so Raava, grieving Korra's death in her own way, chooses Korra's daughter to be the next Avatar, though of course Asami and the others won't learn this until a few years later when the girl starts bending more then one element. Growing up, Korra's daughter still feels the loss of one of her mothers, but since Korra is her daughters past life, Korra still does her best to be their for her, even in death. Asami is grief stricken with the death of her wife, but she also finds joy in raising their daughter, and knowing that Korra quite literally lives on in her. I don't know if anyone's going to be interested in this, but I just think it's such a neat idea, and could make for a really cool au

ooh, i’ve got one!
wu and mako’s relationship with opal? aka their coolest in-law lol
OOOhhhhh Okay so I think Mako and Opal have a very. Just normal relationship. Like very typical brother-in-law sister-in-law stuff. Once Opal and Bolin start having kids, Mako's around a lot helping, so I think maybe that's part of how they get closer? They probably have some laughs over how ridiculous their spouses are.
Opal and Wu both come from more affluent backgrounds. and they both fall in love with these orphan chaos brothers. I imagine they bond a lot over that. I also think Wu gets low key adopted by Suyin so he gets close to all the Beifongs so Opal and Wu get this very like, sibling-esque relationship going on. I think they bond a lot over fine dining. Wu clearly has feelings about upscale food and Opal grew up with a personal chef so they're both very much like, comfortable with fine dining. They probably go to fancy restaurants and wine tastings together all the time.

When Wu is a child, he has a big family. Mother and father, grandmother and grandfather, great auntie. Family means love, laughter, joy, time spent together, and the warmth of a hug.
Then mother and father die. Grandmother and grandfather follow not long after.
When Wu is a child family comes to mean a revolving door of people, Nannie’s and tutors and servants, and Great Auntie.
As Wu grows up he has memories, a stuffed badgermole from his parents, a couple of photographs, and Auntie.
Family is the tense silences that follow one of Auntie’s explosions. It’s the tears shed into the worn fur of an old toy. It’s loneliness and duty and distance.
When Auntie dies—is killed, murdered, has the air stolen from her lungs—Wu has no family. He still has the badgermole and his photographs, as he took those to university before the riots in Ba Sing Se, but he is truly alone. He’s supposed to get a new bodyguard soon, which he supposed is something, at least.
Wu of the Hou-Ting Dynasty, King of all the Earth Lands, and Glorious Defender of Ba Sing Se, 54th Earth Monarch has a big family. It took a while—change comes slowly to the Earth Kingdom, and it’s people—but family has come to mean love and laughter and joy, in the way it did when he was a child.
He and Mako, his husband, spend evenings listening to probending games on the radio and take daily walks through the city. Bolin and Opal visit often, bringing their children, who run through the palace, playing games and tracking mud through its halls. When Korra and Asami visit, Korra and Mako disappear to spar while Wu and Asami play Pai Sho. They all gather in the evenings, gossiping over a glass of wine, forgetting the cares of their positions for a night. Pema can’t visit as often, but she writes, offering advice and sending stories of her kids. Mako’s family, his Grandma Yin and Cousin Tu and all of the others, accepted Wu with open arms and continue to treat him as one of their own.

Of course, Appa will never be replaced but I do adore the bisons in tlok for what they are.
Oogi
Oogi is a wonderful big ole family vehicle and he carries the family and Tenzin around and even made his tail into a ramp for the kids to skate down. And he's very brave, even when latched onto by evil spirits which looked incredibly painful he still kept going, until he was eventually made to crash.
He also gets along great with Naga and he seemed to love the airship. Which makes sense since its probably his first time in the air where he doesn't have to be the one flying which has to be an experience.
Also I love the theory that Oogi's name was inspired by Sokka saying that Katara and Aang's affection for each other gave him "the oogies"
Lefty
Lefty is Kai's bison and he is a fucking trooper.
After Kai and the airbenders save Lefty from the poachers, Lefty returns the favour by saving not only Kai, but also Tenzin, Asami, Mako and Bolin. He also helped Kai track the Red Lotus' airship which helped the group find Korra and the kidnapped airbenders!
He carried 5 whole people on his back as a fucken baby put some respect on his name!
Tragically he was stolen by the evil Bumi and Meelo at least once. But they took him for an adventure so ig its ok
Also he loafs
Pepper
Freckles. That is all but I think it's important nonetheless
Juicy
Ill be honest I fucking love Juicy. I know he's meant to be gross and all but I think he's probably thw most distinctive air bison we've seen ever and I can't help but find him endearing.
Like look at him! I know he's a snotty boi but he's so cute
And he loves Opal so much! He's constantly nuzzling her and is particularly affectionate. Ans I like that while Opal good naturedly jokes about having checked if she can swap, she's still petting him and cuddling him and seems very loving of him too!
Ans this is really realted to him but I am not over the fact that Opal had an Air Bison picture in her room when she was a kid
Ita very important to me

Random.. and fluffy HC about the Krew.
Asami asks both Bolin and Mako to walk her down the isle when she gets married. They agreed on immediately.
Asami and Korra takes vacations during their anniversary, either to new parts of the world they have yet to travel too or back to the spirit world.
The Krew goes to all of the festivals together and Bolin and Korra has an ongoing game of who can win most prices for their lovers. Opal and Asami just want's them to save some of their money.
Mako, Opal and Jinora all sit down together in the library to read and eventually form somewhat of a loose book club. Eventually their book club gets switched out for reading time for their kiddos.
I don't feel like Bolin would take Opal's surname. As much as he looks up to Toph (and the old gang), he does understand that the name comes with a lot of weight and burden even (he has been there for a lot of Beifong-drama)- but he do wish that his children get her surnames. I also feel like if Bolin (and Mako) where to have their own surnames- he would still propose the idea of them just keeping their given surnames.
Korra and Asami will eventually adopt a set of twins, a boy and a girl. And a few years later, adopt another girl. One of the twins are a non bender and eventually takes over the Future Industries when Asami steps off.
Korra and Bolin helps each other when their respektives pet dies. Both of them get new pets after a few years. Bolin gets a dog-hybrid and I haven't really decided on Korra, but another big one she can ride on.
Bolin eventually learn metal bending, with Korra's help. And they both learn seismic sense together with the help of Lin.
They all rotate with weekly dinners when they get their own places. Their more often at the Mansion or Island, since when they all have kids; it's hard to fit all of them around the dining table.
Out of all of them, Bolin and Mako are decent chefs, Korra comes in as a second (she did learn a little bit during her avatar training), and Asami and Opal have barely been alone in a kitchen.
