I just finished Heartstopper season 3 and I feel that in many ways this was the best season but the ending was SOOOO whatever and unsatisfying this shit better get renewed for a 4th season QUICKLY bc if not this is just a bad ending
#like the last episode was good but not as a series finale#a Netflix show that I think was very smart with the season finales was Bojack Horseman bc literally any of those finales could’ve been#the end of the show if it didn’t get renewed and it would’ve been good#this show desperately needs another season to wrap things up well#or more than one I guess but I really can’t see this show going any longer than another season or 2

do love how this is an asoiaf blog but i did not put either show in my top 10 this is the world we live in
#the only season that really compares to the book is season 1.#the rest even when they’re engaging have changed something that feels so central to the hook that i’m mad aksjd.#getting on my soap box#if iwtv s3 is good it may knock someone out. probably qaf.#bsg is p high up there i just think season 4 really suffered on pacing & the suspicious nature of who dies annoyed me.#veep is also very high up there tbh i need to rewatch it. the thing is. as we know. i am a romantic at heart and amy & jonah have my favorit#sitcom relationship. veep has genuinely one of the best finales to ever exist but i’m a sap.#and amy coming back to tell jonah that he made her realize she doesn’t actually have to expect the worst from life. oh my god.#also superstore >>> parks & rec >>> the office bc superstore never romanticized the hell of their job#amy quitting her corporate job when she realized she would never be able to make the changes she wanted within the system she was always#going to compromise too much and wind up like jeff. glenn reopening his dad’s hardware shop & specifically who goes w him & who stays w gina#at the store? it has what the other two lack which is characters that feel like they keep existing after you stop watching#BECAUSE the way they interacted with the world was so real and so much more realistic. amy can’t fix the system but she can find a job that#she doesn’t feel is so soul sucking. glenn may be choosing a harder path by reopening the hardware store but it’s the one that makes him#most fulfilled. gina just gets to make money and be bossy w people who do what they’re told. that rings so true to me.#i almost out bojack horseman in here too actually but once again i think the last season just needed to be a tad longer just like bsg.#also same issue w pitch as w bly manor - it’s an amazingly written season of tv but it’s ONE season of tv#big brother as always outsells yes i am hoping to tempt some of u into watching by posting dan & ian in the dog costume#i have that gif and the ‘sit’ scene saved on my phone always

im going to be honest i didn't think the season 2 finale was super impactful but mostly i think it was just weakened by Escape From LA being one of the most harrowing experiences i've had so far in a 22-minute TV episode
#edit it's escape FROM l.a. lol#shoe watches bojack horseman#todd escaping his improv cult was sweet though#is bojack kinda like that. it has the gutpunch the episode before the season finale

The funniest thing is that I decided to watch Mad Men way back after watching a series of short character essays on YT that made it seems like... y'know... the characters had arcs.
And I'm being snarky now. Some characters do get arcs. But Don doesn't.
Don is in a carousel. He keeps doing the same things every season, jumping from temporary coping mechanism to temporary coping mechanism, chasing an outside change that will fix his internal problems, and it keeps working; for a while; until it doesn't.
I was expecting he would catch up at some point. When are we gonna see Don actually address his shit? And I thought, via the YT essays, that was gonna happen eventually, but it doesn't. He keeps running from his demons, and the series finale doesn't at all feels like a series finale. It's just the end of another circle. He's found yet another outside solution to bandaid the issue for a while.
And I think this was meant to be left vague? But it was too loaded one way. There is absolutely nothing to suggest it could be different this time. There is nothing to suggest this could be enduring change. We're left like, 90% sure he's gonna be back in his bullshit; what is compelling about that? It feels like the show got canceled.
And the really funny thing is that a show that absolutely, 100%, really well, did exactly what I thought Mad Men was gonna do?
Bojack Horsemen.
#it works in Bojack and it doesn't work in Mad Man is my final hot take#Bojack's final season leaves just enough doubt.#you can absolutely see Bojack relapsing and getting back in his bullshit#but you can ALSO absolutely see him finally breaking the cycle#because Bojack ends with him having faced all his lies.#it all got busted. it's all out there in the open. it all already fell apart.#so now he can actually get to building something new#so I think. if Mad Men really wanted to imply Don could turn things around this time.#the final season his identity should have been outed.#that man is never gonna get anywhere until he stops running from the ghost of Dick Withman.#we saw that before! he was so close!#and then he took the easy way out and married Megan#a really meaningful final season should have addressed this.#as it is the final season is just more of the same.

me after rewatching bojack horseman for the umpteenth time: wow this is peak television
#~#funnily i was lukewarm about the finale when i first saw it#but i think i was just sad it was over tbh#diane nguyen woman of ALL TIME!!!#i really do think bojack as a show is a masterclass in complex character writing#like you could do such rich analysis on every one of the mains#also this time i will say#i came away feeling less mad at mr peanut butter#i still don’t love him as much as most people seem#i’ve always appreciated his subtle flaws and complexity a lot#like he’s REALLY interesting as a character if you look at certain eps#but idk i think he just felt like such a Frustrating brand of Bad Boyfriend#that he pissed me off a lot labskwbdkdbdjd#(i do think a lot of excusing mr pb’s flaws comes from people being harder on diane’s flaws)#but i was very endeared to his relationship with bojack this time around#especially in the last season

i feel like it’s an extremely unpopular opinion but i really dislike todd chavez as a character and the more they flesh him out the more i hate him tbh
#i tend to dislike man child characters in general but the fact that he constantly get rewarded by the narrative for just being there...t#*that really makes me hate his ass tbh#i feel like they agree with me to an extent based on that one time where they made him win a ton of money and immediately give it away#i feel like they knew that actually making him rich so easily would make people annoyed so they immediately back tracked#and like i get it he's pretty much the only nice character on the whole show#but that doesn't make him or most of the episode about him interesting#some are but mostly because of the other characters so...#basically i wish we had gotten more beatrice episode#anyway i'm not tagging this and i think y'all are way past caring about bojack horseman so it's whatever#this post is pretty much just me finally admitting something after spending 4 seasons and 3 episodes trying to convince myself#that i was wrong#but i'm not he's just annoying and boring and there's that on that

Now that helluva boss season 2 has hit it's finale, let's discuss everything we know about season 3 at this point in time!
aka, a comprehensive list of everything about season 3 that we've been told about so far. (Please tell me if I've missed anything, thanks!)
I do not think that any of this information necessitates a spoiler tag on this post, but if you want to go into season 3 completely blind, click off this post now.
Bluesky Stuff:
What we learned from this bluesky thread posted shortly before Sinsmas was released is as follows:
The wait until Season 3 starts will be quite long.
The team decided that helluva boss having closer releases of episodes was the best decision (heard this meant a month in-between episodes but I forgot where I saw that), so thee team wants to commit to a more traditional release going forward.
Confirmed once again that season 3 has a total of 15 episodes.
We will also be getting shorts in-between the wait until season 3 starts, and I assume this means monthly shorts as well, based on the fact we had monthly shorts last time as well.
Vivziepop has also described season 3 as a 'queer roller coaster.', so we gotta be prepared to get back on that ride again.
At some panel it was confirmed that in season 3 we will be getting an episode that contains some more Millie backstory.
Tweet link here:
In some other panel, alongside confirming Vassago's appearance in the Mastermind episode, they also confirmed that we will be seeing 'much more' of Vassago in season 3, the post in the picture above contains the clip of this moment in the panel as well.
In what appears to be a recording for the second half of season 3, they're doing recording work for a Stolas song titled 'Dirty Bird', and yes, it is going to be super horny. There is a video of this Instagram post on the post below, plus one extra screenshot.
In the Los Angeles Comic Con 2024, quite a few things were revealed to us, with those being as follows:
As said before, this traditional release schedule does mean that the episodes will hopefully be a month apart from each other, and that Vivziepop saw the show was moving towards a more narrative direction, with this also being where the heart of the show is, and as a result, the direction the team is going in.
Lastly, we probably won't see all 72 Goetias, but we will see a lot more of them in season 3.
Post referenced in above screenshot contains a youtube link to said Comic Con.
According to the reblogs under this post, it appears that Erica (Loona's VA), was asked what her favorite song/episode was, and she responded with 'the song that Loona has in season three', confirming that Loona does have a song during season 3.
Video can be found within this post:
youtube
At 1:06:19 of this video, Vivziepop does state that the show will eventually get to Stella's perspective, which I have to imagine the show will get to in season 3, and that Vivziepop hearkens Stella's character to the character of BoJack Horseman's mother (Beatrice Horseman) because they are very similar in that regard.
Finally, Vivziepop posted these screenshots of her doing some audio editing to her Instagram over a year ago, we don't know what episode this is from but based on the long name in line 7 that doesn't appear to match any character we know at the moment, this appears to likely be a picture of some season 3 audio.
The main things we can gather from these screenshots appear to be Millie talking with Stolas a bit, and the absolute explosion of voices following something that Blitz said.
Post where I found these screenshots from can be found here, some additional discussion regarding is also in the reblogs:
youtube
This YouTube video covers a few instagram videos covering recording footage that Vivziepop uploaded to her account, with them being from the first half of season 3.
What we learn from these instagram videos is that Wally Wackford returns in season 3 with some new lines, and there's also a courtroom scene as well involving Blitz and Stolas, with it also looking like Stolas will be acting as defense for Blitz regarding something we don't know at the moment.
According to Vivzie's instagram, we will be seeing Anthony Padilla and Ian Hecox (You might have heard of them before from something called Smosh) be the VAs of some special future characters at some point during season 3.
To wrap things off, I believe the next significant reveal or such regarding season 3 will be found in the 2025 LVL UP EXPO, as there are quite a lot of VAs involved with Helluva Boss there, plus Sam Haft and Vivziepop.
Especially considering that in the 2024 LVL UP EXPO, the first helluva boss short was shown, we got the song featured in s2 e8, 'When I See Him' and the season 2 trailer.
#this took me way too long to write you have no idea#helluva boss#vivziepop#hb verosika#helluva boss millie#blitzø#blitzo#stolas#stolitz#helluva boss stolas#moxxie helluva boss#helluva fizzarolli#loona helluva boss#sallie may#stella goetia#vassago helluva boss#Youtube

My two cents on Jayce's final speech
While I do not consider myself disabled, I have chronic health issues that are sometimes disabling. And I'm used to having to live my life with that in the back of my mind. Not in a self-hating way, simply pragmatically. I need certain medications and technology in order to function in a way I find worth living for. While I certainly don't speak for the entire disabled community, I'm not unfamiliar with the struggle™.
TLDR: they really, really needed a sensitivity reader or disabled person's input. A for the idea, F for the execution
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"You've always wanted to cure what you thought were weaknesses. Your leg."
Jayce: *breaks leg* *leg can now no longer support his weight* *builds brace to compensate for leg weakness* *proceeds to shame Viktor for wanting a permanent fix for his own leg issue*
"Your disease."
Last season, when Viktor's disease was actively killing him, Jayce got Heimerdinger voted off the Council so Viktor could keep researching what Jayce himself joyfully admitted was a potential cure. How hard did this man's head hit the bottom of the pit?
But you were never broken, Viktor.
Why is Jayce the one getting to say what is and isn't broken? Broken is literally defined as "damaged and no longer in working order". The man was in chronic pain, visibly wasting away before our eyes, and born with a body that was not functioning as it should. Viktor describes his body as "eroding". He has never said that it makes him feel bad about himself as a person. Even when he called himself a cripple, its one of a list of obstacles he’s had to overcome to get where he is now. He isn't ashamed, he's proud. And Jayce is inspired by it enough to not to give up on his work. Or his life.
Side note: Some neurodivergent and disabled people use the term broken in a non-offensive way. For some, its a reminder that they the *person* are not broken. For others, its simply a fact of life they adjust to. But that doesn't mean other people get to label them as such.
"There is beauty in imperfections."
Sure, in the same way they used to call tuberculosis "consumptive chic" because it made you pale and thin with red lips. Death isn't beautiful, its devastating.
"They made you who you are, an inseparable piece of everything I admired about you."
Except, Viktor wouldn't be any less brilliant or determined or humorous if he wasn't disabled. Instantly made me think about this scene from Bojack:
Over and over I have watched the disabled community patiently explaining, passionately advocating, or righteously, ragefully, unceasingly insisting that they are more than their disability. That their disability doesn't define them. To see past it to who they are as a person. That regardless of your personal opinion, they have the same inherent value as an able-bodied person.
I get what Arcane was going for here. I really do. It was a nice idea in theory. But what they ended up with was a well-meaning, able-bodied, privileged person assigning labels to a disabled person's own opinion of himself, tell him what he should and should not do with his body, and then tie this deeply questionable conversation about Viktor's body to Viktor as a person.
And for once true to his S1 character, THAT DID NOT SWAY VIKTOR AT ALL. The last time he saw Jayce, he got soundly rejected. The next scene of them is him continuing to "evolve" Jayce. Ekko's device gave Jayce the opportunity tell Viktor how much he wanted him and THAT made the difference.
