Flowers in her Hair
Flowers were and continue to be a natural and beautiful style choice for women's hair.
The Regency era was a time of intense focus on the heads of women and girls. Hats and bonnets in many styles, headbands or "bandeaux", elaborate hairstyles, and flowers, of course! Flowers alone or as decorative elements to hats and bonnets, as well as various combinations of flowers, headbands, and hair jewelry.

TWO YOUNG WOMEN KISSING | c. 1790-94 | by LOUIS-LÉOPOLD BOILLY
This painting shows two young women in a loving attitude towards each other. They are in an embrace and kiss. Boilly was a talented artist who successfully depicted everyday scenes from the late 18th century French life and captured small details of the then contemporary social customs and practices of the middle class.
Such luxurious textiles and fashionable accessories formed the feature of Boilly's work, as he represented these elements in detail and with great accuracy. The color range in the painting is very modest, and the mood is serious, with the aspect of childhood learning. The painting is handled with great refinement and softness, which allows for a smooth representation of every detail.
The artist combines elements of the portrait and genre scene, which were both important in his artistic life. The painting is very realistic and showcases the social customs and moral values of the time. It is also an excellent example of Boilly's ability to observe and portray the details of everyday life with accuracy and sensitivity.
The theme of childhood learning is pointed out as being a very central theme. The two young women are engaged in a romantic embrace, but the focus is on their learning and education, not the romantic nature of the scene.
