Rukmini Devi Arundale
Rukmini Devi Arundale, born on February 29, 1904, in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, served as a catalyst in revitalising the traditional Indian dance form of Bharatanatyam and establishing its prominence. Born into a Brahmin family with deep connections to the Theosophical Society, Rukmini was exposed to humanist ideals from an early age. Her marriage to George Arundale, a theosophist and educator, further fuelled her interest in theosophy and dance. While travelling with her husband and Annie Besant, Rukmini learned of Western ballet and began studying ballet at the suggestion of the famous ballerina Anna Pavlova. Pavlova also encouraged her to explore classical Indian dance forms, which allowed Rukmini to pursue Bharatanatyam To challenge the norms and re-establish the artistic integrity of the dance, Rukmini undertook formal education at the Bharatnatyam master Pandanalur Meenakshi Sundaram Pillai. In 1935, at the age of 31, Rukmini made her debut in Bharatanatyam, defying societal expectations and setting a precedent for upper-class women to participate in the dance form. Witnessing the transformative power of Bharatanatyam, she established the International Academy of the Arts in Adyar in 1936, later renamed Kalakshetra. Through Kalakshetra, Rukmini aimed to teach and popularise Bharatanatyam through this institution, saying that she felt she had been "ushered into a new world of rhythmic beauty and meaning." Rukmini Devi Arundale's contributions extended beyond dance. In 1934, she founded educational institutions that blended theosophy and traditional Hindu values. Her vision for Kalakshetra went beyond preserving Bharatanatyam; it became a hub for various Indian traditions and the propagation of theosophical ideals. Her efforts earned her accolades, including the Padma Bhushan in 1956 and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1967. As an animal lover, she chaired the Animal Welfare Board and played a key role in passing the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act in 1952. In the same year, she made history as the first ever woman in Indian history to be nominated as the Rajya Sabha member In 1977, she declined the offer to become the President of India from Prime Minister Morarji Desai post the death of President Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed. In a 2013 speech at Kalakshetra, President Pranab Mukherjee delivered the first Rukmini Devi Memorial Lecture, emphasising on the significance she has had on the revival of classical dance and her commitment to the cultural renaissance of India.

The NASA Aircraft Management Advisory Board (AMAB), which manages the agency’s aircraft fleet, has decided to relocate the agency’s P-3 aircraft at Wallops to Langley Research Center. The decision is part of a long-running, NASA-wide aircraft enterprise-management activity to consolidate the aircraft fleet where feasible and achieve greater operational efficiencies while reducing our infrastructure footprint. We all recognize this is a tough decision impacting a stellar, mission-focused team that has achieved so much over the years. I myself started my career in the Wallops Aircraft Office some 38 years ago, and my time there was foundational for all I’ve done in my career. My top priority is to work with the Aircraft Office team on a transition plan, and importantly, to carry out an effective and safe transition of the aircraft to NASA Langley, and to ensure the long term sustainability of NASA’s P-3 capability in support of the airborne science community. The Wallops aircraft office transition may take 18 to 24 months or more to accomplish. A specialized team is forming to ensure a smooth transition, and in the meantime, we continue to support airborne science from the facility. With NASA’s flying mission at Wallops relocating to Langley, we recognize that the hangars and airfield at Wallops are true regional assets with great potential. NASA will issue a request for information (RFI) to identify potential customers/interest in assuming responsibility for Wallops’ airfield operations. It’s in the best interest of NASA and the region to explore other uses and opportunities for the Wallops airfield, and this RFI will help NASA evaluate future options. There is no timeline for the RFI at this time – we will provide updates as more information becomes available. What we do know – and are fully committed to – is ensuring the airfield remains an important resource for continued use by our customers, such as the U.S. Navy’s Fleet Force Command Field Carrier Landing Practice program. We’ve supported Navy flight operations at Wallops for more than 10 years and that support continues. I want to assure everyone that Wallops’ future is bright and secure – the facility has a diverse mission set of orbital and suborbital operations and a whole host of government and commercial customers expanding operations on-site. We expect Wallops’ launch cadence to increase to upward of 50 launches per year by 2030 as the facility takes on a growing portfolio of hypersonics work as well as support to commercial spaceflight. Without a doubt, the Wallops Aircraft Team is the best in the agency. They’ve had a massively successful run of operations recently with the ARCSIX missions in Greenland to supporting student research flights on both coasts and cargo transport missions all over the world to places such as Antarctica and India. I am committed to working with every member of the team on a way forward as we transition our flight operations and seek new opportunities. We will continue to communicate with you and provide information on the transition plans as they become available. All the best, Dave David L. PierceWallops Director

IMPLEMENTATION OF NEW IFRS REVENUE RECOGNITION STANDARD
Tumblr media
India will have a new revenue recognition standard outlining a single comprehensive model for entities to use in accounting for revenue arising from contracts with customers. This supersedes most current revenue recognition standard.
In brief, the new standard seeks to streamline, and remove inconsistencies from, revenue recognition requirements; provide a more robust framework for addressing revenue issues; make revenue recognition practices more comparable; and increase the usefulness of disclosures.
Introduction
The Government has introduced two significant game-changers to financial reporting standards in 2018 to effective communication to investors by corporates.
International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) accounting framework replaces extant revenue and lease standards effective financial periods commencing from January 1, 2018. Both the new standards have a significant impact on financial statements for majority of sectors. Indian companies too have to brace up for the new Indian Accounting Standards (IND-AS) on revenue that would go live shortly.
The International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), as part of a joint convergence project with its United States Counterpart, the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) has re-modeled the revenue recognition guidance. The new IFRS 15 — Revenue From Contracts With Customers replaces prevailing IAS’s and related interpretations, primary of them being (1) IAS 11- Construction Contracts and (2) IAS 18 — Revenue. A new principle for revenue recognition has emerged with the emphasis on the concept of transfer of control and a detailed accounting model, it has been launched as the Five Step Revenue Recognition Model and is to be followed for every revenue contract to account for the financial statement reporting consequences.
“IFRS 15 Revenue from Contracts with Customers provides a single revenue recognition model based on the transfer of control of a good or service to a customer. The new revenue standard marks a significant change from current requirements under IFRS. It provides a more structured approach to measuring and recognizing revenue, with detailed application guidance. Therefore, adoption may be a significant undertaking for many entities. Early assessment will be key to managing a successful implementation.”
Evaluation of contracts, customer agreements, pricing models, side-arrangements, revenue and delivery models, contractual clauses, underlying economics, deliverables analysis, et al, become very critical as companies’ transition to the new revenue recognition standard.
Standard operating procedures and internal controls also need to be geared up and fine-tuned to comply with this critical financial reporting standard.
The Exposure Draft on clarifications to Ind AS 115 proposes that Ind AS 115 would be applicable for accounting periods beginning on or after 1st April, 2018. The MCA is expected to notify the standard soon.
The effect on entities will vary, and some may face significant changes in revenue recognition. Entities should now be assessing how they will be affected so they can prepare an implementation plan for the new standard.
Core Principle of Revenue Recognition Changes
The global reporting standard moves from a “transfer of risks and rewards” model to a “transfer of control” model. This model determines the timing of revenue recognition. The new timing is when there is a transfer of control of promised deliverable by the seller (reporting entity).
The core principle of the new revenue standard under both IFRS and United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (USGAAP) is that an entity recognized revenue to depict the transfer of promised goods and services to customers in an amount that reflects the consideration to which it expects to be entitled in exchange for such promised goods and services. Henceforth, revenue needs to be recognized upon transfer of control of promised products or services to customers in an amount that reflects the consideration that the entity expects to receive in exchange for those products or services.
Where a company enters into contracts that could include various combinations of products and services, the company needs to isolate the various revenue components, based on whether each component is generally capable of being distinct and accounted for as separate performance obligations. IFRS reporting entities need to follow a detailed 5-step model to account for revenue as follows…

Riding the Digital Wave: Algorithmic Trading in India
Brief Introduction :-
Algorithmic Trading in India has emerged as a transformative force, leveraging advanced algorithms and cutting-edge technology to revolutionize financial markets. It uses intricate mathematical models to execute trades at blazing speed, giving traders speed and accuracy. We investigate available resources, negotiate regulatory frameworks, and look forward to the bright future of algorithmic trading in this ever-changing scene, which is revolutionizing our understanding of and interactions with finance in the Indian market.
History of Algorithmic Trading in India :-
In India, algorithmic trading began in the early 2000s and gained popularity when computerised trading platforms were introduced. An important turning point was the transition from conventional floor trading to screen-based systems, which set the stage for algorithmic trading techniques. Edelweiss Financial Services was a trailblazing organisation in this regard, having adopted algorithmic trading due to its effectiveness and speed, particularly when it came to processing big orders. As technology evolved, financial institutions in India followed suit, with the advent of Direct Market Access (DMA) further quickening the adoption and enabling traders to directly communicate with exchanges. The market has grown increasingly sophisticated over time as a result of Indian companies using artificial intelligence and creating their own proprietary algorithms. Algorithmic trading is currently a major participant in the financial ecosystem in India. The market has grown increasingly sophisticated over time as a result of Indian companies using artificial intelligence and creating their own proprietary algorithms. Algorithmic trading is becoming a major force in India's financial sector, changing the nature of the market and providing new opportunities for both investors and traders.
Tumblr media
What is HFT?
High-frequency trading, or HFT for short, is a type of algorithmic trading that uses sophisticated algorithms to execute a large number of orders at speeds never seen before in the financial industry. HFT has emerged as a major force in the Indian financial scene, using cutting-edge technology to take advantage of tiny price differences and inefficiencies in the market. HFT seeks to take advantage of momentary opportunities by analysing data quickly and acting quickly, improving market efficiency and liquidity. Its function is scrutinised, too, and this has sparked debates about how it affects market stability and the necessity of regulatory regimes.
Regulations for Algorithmic Trading in India :-
The Securities and Exchange Board of India oversees algorithmic trading in India (SEBI). The "Algorithmic Trading Framework," a set of recommendations published by SEBI in 2011, was designed to guarantee equitable and transparent market operations. To protect against systemic risks associated with algorithmic trading and to promote market integrity, the laws include requirements for the use of "unique client codes" to track individual trades, risk controls, and order-to-trade ratio limitations.
Skills Required for Algorithmic Trading :-
Tumblr media
Econometrics is a tool used in algorithmic trading to model and analyse economic data, offering insights into market movements and possible trading opportunities.
Programming abilities are necessary for developing and putting trading algorithms into practice, which allows for the automation and quick execution of strategies in volatile market environments.
Quantitative analysis: Used to assess market dynamics and financial instruments, enabling traders to spot trends and create data-driven algorithmic trading methods.
Probability and statistics are used to evaluate the chance of market events, which helps with risk management and the development of algorithms that adapt to shifting market conditions.
Proficiency in Financial Markets and Trading: Essential for comprehending market subtleties, allowing traders to create algorithms that conform to current market structures and circumstances.
The ability to reason logically is essential for creating algorithmic trading strategies with clear rules and logic that enable methodical decision-making in the face of changing market conditions.
Conclusion and Future Scope :-
In summary, algorithmic trading has improved market efficiency and opened up new trading opportunities for traders, dramatically changing the Indian financial scene. As the sector continues to be shaped by technological breakthroughs, machine learning, and regulatory frameworks, the future prospects are bright. Algorithmic trading is expected to become increasingly prevalent and play a crucial part in the future of India's financial markets, which are active and growing at a quick pace.

RAF Typhoons intercept Vladimir Putin's "done'sday" aircraft while flying near the NATO border
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 06/07/2023 - 23:39 in Interceptions, Military
The British Royal Air Force (RAF) sent its Typhoon jets to escort a group of Russian aircraft flying over the Baltic Sea, near the border of NATO states. Among the aircraft was the Tu-214 nicknamed the "Done's Day" plane.
The British Typhoons followed the 'Domsday' nuclear command plane and the Su-30M escort fighters near the region of the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad in the Baltic Sea.
Tumblr media
The RAF's Typhoon jets took off from their detached base in Estonia, where they are stationed as part of NATO's Air Policing mission in the Baltic.
The Tupolev Tu-214 was built by the Kremlin to give Vladimir Putin a base to launch nuclear missiles in the event of a third world war.
Tumblr media
The RAF said on Twitter: “The RAF Typhoons in Estonia struggled today to intercept a Russian Air Force Tu-214 flying in international airspace under the control of NATO allies as it transited south and then north again with 2x Su-30M Flanker Hs between mainland Russia and Kaliningrad Oblast.”
The RAF jets escorted the Russian plane and the two Su-30 jets that accompanied it through international airspace as it flew in and out of the Kaliningrad region.
Tumblr media
NATO added that there has been an increase in the number of planes carrying VIPs to and from Kaliningrad.
It is not clear who was on board the Doomsday jet, although it is thought that only "important people" are allowed on the plane.
The incident occurs as NATO chiefs prepare to travel to Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, for a summit next week.

What are the various education boards are there in India?
India has many educational boards, some of which have been around for a very long period. Each Board has its own approaches to curriculum, instruction, and exam administration that support students' entire growth. Parents frequently struggle to choose the best education board for their kids. You can find out everything you need to know about the many Indian educational boards in this post.
Tumblr media
Different Education Boards in India:
State Boards
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)
Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE)
International Baccalaureate (IB)
International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE)
National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS)
State Boards
Every State has its own State Boards, which adhere to its own syllabus and ranking standards. The main education boards in India each have their own educational strategies, which results in differences in the curricula from one state to the next. It places a focus on regionally relevant topics and local content that enables students to prepare for state-level engineering and medical admission exams. In comparison to numerous other boards, the syllabus is often restricted. Regional heritage and languages have a significant part in the curriculum. Recent state board directives mandated that all schools use only NCERT textbooks, which are crucial for students preparing for all-India exams.
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)
One of India's most renowned and possibly most well-known education boards is the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Since it relates to establishing traditional teaching frameworks for most schools across the country, CBSE has succeeded in doing this. Numerous private and public schools across subscribe to this national level board. Exams are given by the Board to both regular and private students. Candidates who are interested in remote learning can register for admissions and apply for evaluations. After the tenth grade, CBSE offers its students a variety of courses in the humanities, sciences, and business. Students can submit applications to numerous universities for higher education after graduating from class twelve.
Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE)
In India, a private education board of administers the Indian School Certificate Examination. The purpose of this board is to offer an English-medium general education examination in compliance with the New Education Policy 1986 (India) recommendations. Candidates who plan to take the exam must complete one to three papers in each of six disciplines. Consequently, depending on the disciplines, there are eight to eleven papers in total. Results for the ICSE exam only consider the top five topics. But English marks are always required and inclusive.
Tumblr media
IB School
With its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, the International Baccalaureate (IB) is a privately run global educational foundation. It offers three main programmes: a primary year programme for students in grades KG through 5, a middle year programme for students in grades 6 through 10, and a diploma programme for students in grades 11 and 12. The 144 nations where this board is offered have around 3500 schools on it. Without having to take several additional tests, the IB board assists pupils in applying to overseas universities. Students are taught analytical abilities, language, the arts, and humanities in its curricula. To prevent a fragmented approach, the disciplines are taught in this setting in an integrated manner. Typically, parents who intend to relocate overseas favour IB.
International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE)
Students can prepare for the International Baccalaureate and Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) A-level through the private, internationally accepted International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) programme. There are essentially four exam types: Cambridge Primary for students in the fifth through eleventh grades, Cambridge Secondary 1 and Cambridge Secondary 2 for students in the twelveth through sixteenth grades. It provides students with two pathways: Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge O Level, as well as Cambridge Additional for students between the ages of 16 and 19 who need advanced study to get ready for college and higher education. Students then have the option of enrolling in Cambridge Pre-U or Cambridge International AS and A Level. The tests are administered by the University of Cambridge International Examinations, and this board has members in 120 nations.
National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS)
The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), which was founded in 1989, is a government-run open school that enables students to study online or even restart their education if there has been a lapse in their studies. This board's main objective is to improve distant communities' access to education. Open Basic Education (OBE) includes classes 3 through 8 in the primary grades. Basic math, environmental science, and computer abilities are all covered here. At least five subjects and a language must be taken from each of the two basic groupings for grade 10. In grade 12, there are additional alternatives available in the humanities, sciences, and business. Then, the students choose one or two from each of the five groups that were created.
Conclusion:
Students today in India have a variety of education boards to pick from while choosing a curriculum. It can be challenging to find the right education board in India, though. Choosing the best curriculum may be one of your many alternatives, but you also need to consider several other factors, such as the extracurricular activities that are given, the cost, and the future aspirations of your children. I recommend the Soundarya School in Bangalore, which offers both CBSE and state board education along with excellent other facilities that can assist your child develop more fully. We sincerely hope that our advice on selecting the best education board for your child helped you.

We have a vision of the child we aim to graduate and everything in our schools is designed around that vision. Emerging Student Profile (ESP) is the vision that Mount Litera Zee Schools promises. Everything we do in the school strives to achieve this profile for each child. While each child will take a different path to this profile, we run the schools with the firm belief that this profile will enable our children to be leaders of the 21st century.
The ESP comprises three essential faculties: life skills, knowledge and core values.
Litera Octave
Litera Octave is the core belief of every Zee school. It is a proprietary pedagogical model that has been honed over years of research and development. It integrates the various pillars that impact the children during their learning and development in school.
It comprises EIGHT Critical interlinked elements of school engagement with parents and child.
These are : Litera Infra, Litera Content, Litera Network, Litera Lifeskills, Litera teacher, Litera Assessment, Litera Parents and Litera Enrichment
Well Trained Teachers
Highly qualified teachers with contineous tranning programs and workshops on academic methodology. Our rigorous hiring and comprehensive training of teachers keep them abreast with the best-in-class learning methodologies. Teachers get assessed to ensure that students get the best learning environment.
Assesments,evaluations & parents
Our assessments focus on identifying what students are good at instead of whether they are good or not. MLZ Gondia assessments and parent teachers meetings take place on a continuous basis and at the child’s pace rather than through only stressful periodic exams. Assessment patterns are based on feedback from various stakeholders including parents.
Parents are a critical stakeholder in the entire learning process. We orient parents through various workshops and inculcate awareness of important parenting issues like understanding the child’s learning style, multiple intelligences, and child abuse prevention etc.
Community Connect & Social Awareness
Education is all about giving back to the society. At MLZ Gondia, we prepare our students to work towards creating a sustainable environment on an ongoing basis.
We encourage our students and parent community to support organizations that help the old, the underprivileged. Our students and parent community will participate and organize projects that aim to achieve a purpose in preserving and conserving the environment and its inhabitants.
