Varian's Blue Streak

I know IRL the blue streak was just a design choice and nothing more, but I like the head canon that Varian's blue streak is due to residual influence from the moonstone. This may seem like a tangent, but let me cook: I used to have a coworker whose husband suffered from health issues because his father was exposed to agent orange during the Vietnam war. He himself did not come into contact with it because he was not conceived yet, but his father's exposure to it lead to his progeny having health issues. I think Quirin being close to the moonstone affected Varian. Maybe not enough to give Varian powers, but enough to have a touch of influence over him. (This post brought to you by my current obsession with a song written from the POV of a Vietnam vet, which reminded me of my old coworker's husband, which reminded me of this head canon.)

Someone explain to me why Starlight Glimmer and Varian have oddly similar parallels.

Both were past villains that were beaten, vowed to get revenge, and came back bigger and badder- ( both in a princess's CASTLE? ) and were both later redeemed after accepting said princess's friendship later on? Both were also awkward after said redeeming because of the actions they did as villains and had a hard time fitting back into society. Hm...the parallels are paralelling-
