The wild thing about the Vote Blue rhetoric is that according to them, Biden is an uwu helpless baby who's had no power to stop any of the shit that's gone down the last three years but if Trump comes to power he can end democracy as you (don't) know it. You just have to get through this election cycle because the GOP can't find its own ass with both hands and a mirror on a stick and they're breaking apart, but they're also about to transform into the Third Reich. If Biden gets a second term you can totally push him further left when he isn't even up for re-election, but not with half the country on the streets a year out from when he does still need their votes. Biden can't get Netanyahu to stop because he has no power over Israel, but Trump will be able to destabilize democracy all across the world. The enemy is either weak or strong, y'all can't have it both ways.
Also, "If democrats haven't earned your vote, what has the republicans done to earn your complicity"????? You think this is how democracy works??? But oh, that's right you don't have a democracy, you have Evil (genocide without personal enjoyment) and Super Evil (genocide with personal fun). But you need to Vote Blue to save the democracy you don't have. Which they've had three years and one more to get around to saving, just like they had two years to legislate Roe vs Wade and eight before that, but they need another four to do anything.
"We cannot afford to divide the left and alienate voters!" you yell, as you harrass people whose relatives are currently being starved and blown to pieces as the entire world watches, a full year before elections, proving you have no intention of holding the Dems accountable even for a literal genocide. Because your winning strategy here is to scream at people for having a moral compass and basic empathy for their fellow human. These are luxuries you cannot afford because the GOP doesn't have any either, but the two parties are different bro, I swear bro, pay no attention to Hakeem Jeffries standing next to Mike Johnson and Christian Zionists bro, don't look at how much AIPAC has bought and paid for the whole of Congress bro, don't look at the bipartisan support for sending billions to Zionists overseas while cutting funding for every public service bro, don't look at how much more land for fracking they've sold off than Trump ever did bro, don't look at cop city and the border wall and ICE crackdowns and kids still in cages three years later bro, Biden totally controlled COVID and saved millions of lives unlike Trump and the pandemic is definitely not still raging bro, queer and reproductive rights are definitely not flaking off piecemeal under the Dems right now bro, Project 2025 can definitely happen when Obama couldn't even push through Medicaid with a trifecta bro, bro where are you going bro—

"Biden and Trump will do the same thing" "There's no difference between Trump and Biden" "Biden's America is Trump's America and vice-versa"
On my hands and knees, what part of "president for life" isn't reaching you?
The difference is that Biden will step down after his term. The difference is that Biden isn't a threat to the right to vote at all. The difference is that if Trump supporters get gassed-up again, we're gonna see a surge in white pride stronger than some of us will be able to withstand. Remember the [tiki torch marches]? That's gonna be a fucking picnic compared to the potential hate-storm on its way.
"But voting doesn't -- " By all means, start building pipe-bombs and throwing Molotovs over the gates of the White House. I don't even say that sarcastically, riot as loudly and as thoroughly as you possibly, humanly can. Hold the die-ins, hold the hunger strikes, throw yourselves on the steps of Congress and take up residence there.
But you'll see the value in the right to vote when you don't have it anymore. You can vote AND riot, if it so suits you.
The people voting for Biden are not your enemy. I know that the US "Left" is easier to tear apart than tissue paper, but fighting against that urge to turn on ourselves is vital right now; honestly, at this point it feels like our last fucking stand. I can't tell anyone what to do, I can't sway anyone try as I might, but if you're on the fence I implore you to consider the bigger picture. We have not had time to recover from Trump's first term throughout Biden's; we're gonna be razed to the ground if Trump gets a second opportunity to run the show.
I ask again, non-rhetorically: what exactly about the genocide would Trump fix if he took office again?

Here is the problem with the "both sides suck" argument when it comes to elections.
You're right. Both sides do suck. The two party system is fucked and I wish we had better options. But saying you're impartial or you're not going to vote because of that is like someone coming up to you and saying they're gonna beat the crap out of you and they can either push you down into a pile of horse shit or push you down into a pile of horse shit AND kick you in the ribs a few times for good measure and your response is "both options suck so I don't care"
We can try to dismantle the two party system and force better policies from those in power over the next four years, but now is not the time to take a stand against both sides.
Please for the love of God VOTE

Okay, I still have not heard one convincing argument that not voting does more good than voting for the lesser of two evils.
Like, I'm genuinely asking this and am not trying to be petty or smug or whatever.
I'm talking about the simple act of voting; not donating to campaign funds, not harassing people who are rightfully angry at genocide Joe/Kamala, not wasting time trying to get people to vote but not doing any other activism, not blaming nonvoters solely for xyz candidate losing when there's multiple factors that contributed to their loss.
I mean the simple act of spending a few hours every 2 years filling in some bubbles to try to slow our descent into fascism.
Like, I get that many libs think voting is the end-all-be-all of activism and that Kamala is our savior or something. I get the argument that dems aren't going to move left if people continue voting for them without question/pushing. I get how the dems are basically dangling our basic rights in front of us to get our votes. And I get that the dems are still fucking terrible and the end goal is to tear it all down and start over.
But I don't get how risking letting someone worse win to threaten/punish them is a valid strategy. Like, it seems too high-stakes to me.
I don't get how the argument is any different than, say, "protesting/rioting is shit because it's destructive and disrupts people' lives".
I don't get how it's better than just pushing people to do more on top of voting.
Like "here are the shitty things Kamala is doing and here's what to do about them". Or "Here's the few bubbles to fill to reduce the number of orphans going into the orphan crushing machine and here's the plan to destroy the machine after you turn in your ballot."
Being against voting all feels very "You claim to want things to improve yet you participate in society. I am very intelligent." I would very much not have to beg for my rights every election and instead burn the whole thing down and guillotine all the politicians but unfortunately my body is falling apart and my brain is shit so voting is one of the few things accessible to me.
I don't get how voting for a candidate that will protect (some of) your rights while trying to kill other groups is selfish when the only other option is trying to kill you AND them. How would the less at-risk groups help fight for the rights of the more at-risk groups if they're too busy also being killed if Trump wins? How would me risking my rights by not voting do any sort of material good for Palestinians facing genocide or kids in cages?
It seems like the arguments all seem to boil down to "pulling the trolley lever is icky because people will still die so I'll let someone else choose" or "there are two genders: voting or REAL activism (you can only pick one)" or "5000 bad things is exactly the same as 3000 bad things" or "if enough people don't vote then nobody will win the election"
I'm just trying to do what good I can do because I can't do much.

I keep advocation for voting for Biden and other Democrats but like honestly? I'm a cishet man. I'm an immigrant, but I'm a citizen and from a white country. I'm part of the ever shrinking middle class in that I'm more than one missed paycheck away from homelessness. I could even handle a minor medical emergency. I live in California so state law is gonna protect me a fair bit from the federal.
My own life will not be made worse by a trump presidency. But I have friends whose lives would be. And I care about strangers. So here I am trying to convince queer people, women, black people, poor people, etc to vote in their best interest. You know, the same people that complain about how there are poor people voting Republican against their best interest
I mean fuck, even if you're a single issue voter on gaza you should know that trump would be significantly better for Israel.
I'm literally being selfless when I'm trying to convince people to vote blue down the line.

hey to any Americans who aren't sure whether to vote next election may I just say that if trump loses it might mean he'll run again next election cycle but if trump LOSES BY AN EXTRAVAGANT AMOUNT the gop donors will give up on him. there is already a significant amount of pressure in the republican party to find someone else but a big loss will tip the gop completely out of trump's favour

I said it before I'll say it again: stop screaming at people on TUMBLR about how evil and selfish they are for not buying into blue no matter who bullshit when we don't even represent a decimal of the Democratic vote
Maybe fucking go outside touch some grass and canvas in your community because and this is gonna sound scary
The real meat world has more actual voters in it
Every fucking election year y'all start foaming at the mouth and writing post that can be summarized as "you deserve to die because you're no better then Republicans for feeling disenfranchised by the voter system and it's YOUR FAULT PERSONALLY if we loose and you should kys because you're a Russian bot"

The thing about withholding the vote is that like it's stupid to actually do and convince other people to do but You Can Lie About Your Intentions Directly To Your Reps, it's okay to do that. They can't prove anything. When I emailed my reps I was like "I will not vote for you if you don't adjust your position" I Was Lying. I vote left of median center down the goddamn ticket, okay, even slightly better is still better, but I want them to feel threatened anyways. I want them to fear consequences. But the actual most important thing is to Not Shut The Fuck Up.

Since we’re beginning the election cycle again, I just want to put it out there that “Blue No Matter Who” folks will be blocked on sight. I’m so tired of the self-righteous diatribe. Vote for whoever you want to, but yelling at folks online for rightfully criticizing our two party system and being disillusioned with how fucking evil Democrats really are isn’t going to gain your team more votes. Give it a rest.

Y'all I'm sorry but this is making me freak the fuck out
I know this is gonna probably cause people to call me a terrible person, but I'm just gonna risk it anyhow because this is getting really scary.
If you are a USAmerican,
Please vote for Biden this year.
I am 1000% aware that the genocide in Gaza is being perpetuated by Biden's administration. It's not good at all. I don't like the guy either, and like every President the US has ever had, he will burn in Hell, guaranteed.
But if we don't vote, then Trump is gonna win. This sounds rhetorical, but I ask genuinely: do you think Trump is gonna stop the genocide?
Has Trump ever shown that he cares about a single human being besides himself? The level of misanthropy that idiot is on is remarkable. I personally cannot see him slowing the flow of genocide in any direction; if anything, he might redouble the effort.
I think it was Warren who is tryna warn people that if Trump gets elected again, he'll never leave. I think back to a time during his first term where he said there might one day be a "forever President", and that makes me sick to my fucking stomach. That's not a presidency, that's a monarchy or a dictatorship. That would be the de-facto end of having a say in who's in control until he finally fucking dies -- and not even then, because then the mantle will be passed down to one of his children.
I know the US shouldn't exist in the first place. I am 100% aware of that. They say that empires fall after 250 years, and the US is gonna be 248 years old in July. But unfortunately, it exists right now, and it's full of people who will not survive another four years of Trump.
Again -- I will say it as many times as I need to -- I don't like Biden. I don't like him. He's done some beneficial things, but using his executive powers to speed up a genocide tips the scale completely over back towards hating him.
But Biden will step down when his term is done. I know the bar is in the fucking Mariana Trench, but for the love of God I do not wanna be under Trump for even a minute more. I hate Biden, but I hate Trump more, and that is fueling me, personally, to show up to vote.
At the end of the day, the problem is systemic. Every single authority over the US, since even before Washington, has only cared about hurting people of color and churning up the earth to make money. Our taxes could help improve the lives of US civilians, but instead they are funneled into the trillion-dollar War Machine aimed in every direction, including the US itself. The US commonwealth doesn't matter to the US government. We are human livestock who generate revenue; no matter how many changes of hands our money makes for hopes of a better cause inside the US, every last penny will find its way back into the War Machine or under the dirty ass of a billionaire who should be tarred and feathered in oil and their own paper money.
With all that said. There are US citizens who are enthusiastically pro-Biden right now, and siding with them might just keep us from living in Trump Hell all over again. The bigots have gotten too proud around here, and it makes my blood run cold. My mother doesn't show enthusiasm for ANYTHING the way she shows it for her freedom to hate people loudly and proudly. It makes her come ALIVE. And I know I'm not the only one who's been subjected to this kind of horror show for the last 9 years. Every state of mind curated by the US is a cult, and there is no escape outside of moving away.
Please. Vote. For Biden.
