Mizu hunches over to get a better view of your face. Your eyes flutter open. You look to your left to find Mizu, hair down and looking at you endearingly.

You hook your arms around her neck, attempting to pull her in for more morning kisses. Instead, she stopped you in your tracks.

As you begin to settle into the bathtub and relax, you hear soft piano music in the background. You take a deep breath and enter your entire body into the bathtub, enveloping yourself in the warm water that Mizu prepared for you.

"Everything alright?", Mizu asks as she sits next to you outside the bathtub.

You nod in response. "Everything's perfect..."

Mizu tilts her head in confusion. You look up to her, reaching your arm out to her with an open hand: an invitation to join you.

"Come here.", she says softly, wrapping her arms around your body. You lay back as you feel her hands find your sides, gently hugging your body. You feel her lips softly touch your shoulders, inching closer to your neck. Her breath tickles your neck, making you gasp in response.

"Mizu...", you turn your head to get a better view of Mizu.

Modern! Mizu& BES Cast Interpretations

Modern Mizu Headcannons! (i type as i think do not expect anything profound)

early childhood:

- Avoids drugs and alcohol in any and all situations. Mama was an addict in early childhood and her obvious neglect lead to bullying as a child

- sword father ran a repair shop/corner store in the neighborhood. mizu would help out in exchange for sanctuary when mama would disappear for weeks at a time.

- mizu knew ‘mama’ wasn’t her real mom, but she stuck with what she had and loved her regardless

- she’d often skip school entirely, much to swordfather’s disapproval and dismay.

- he would not approve of mama

- mama thinks of swordfather as a cheapskate because he wouldn’t pay mizu for her time at his shop. they do not like each other.

- mama eventually overdoses early in Mizu’s life and is taken away in an ambulance. she stays with swordfather but he does not win custody. she is not cared for in the foster system regardless, so she is often in his shop whenever she runs away.

- mama survives, but she does not know this as she does not make an effort to contact mizu in foster care

middle years:

- swordfather puts a large emphasis in education for mizu. he is poor and won’t be around much longer, so he wants her to be able to make it.

- he often forces her to attend despite bullying. he gives her a stern silent treatment if he catches wind of her failing any classes or skipping.

- when she is at home he makes sure she is either studying or working. he cares deeply. they both realize this.

- she does not have friends. the entire school staff knows of her trauma and are uncertain how to approach her or the bullying that erupts.

- she would get in fights more often than not. a ‘troubled youth’. comes across as the scary quiet kid.

- taigen is absolutely in the same boat as mizu, but his father is more well liked and he hides his abuse better. he is a main bully of mizu. they are each other’s punching bag in the school playgrounds.

- the school counselors advise her to join boxing/sports etc, but she is a malnourished, scrawny kid with temper issues and cannot afford lessons.

- she sneaks into the training rooms regardless and weasels her way in once they see her pent up skill and energy.

older (aprox. 18/19)

- senior year of highschool

- has a space in swordfather’s home, though it’s unofficial. the two run the shop together with him as the speaker and mizu the silent do-er. customers find her silent persona and steely demeanor unnerving

- mama reappears. she is skinnier and frailer looking. her teeth are mostly rotted and she looks about ready to break

- mizu is still a mama’s girl .

- she takes care of mama any way she can, much to swordfather’s silent disapproval. mizu is getting ready to attend state uni but mama is a loud and massive distraction from that.

- mizu takes a gap year to fuss over mama’s rehab & medical needs

- through a series of biting remarks and pressure to marry, mama brings home a boyfriend for mizu

- he is older, far older. swordfather is silent for weeks and mizu craves mama’s affection.

- somehow, the two make it work for the course of about a year.

- in the last two months of their relationship, M*kio attempts to gap the bridge in mizu and swordfather’s relationship by helping out around the shop.

- swordfather still disapproves of him and does not speak when he’s around. he is delighted mizu is back, but never says so

- mizu is undoubtedly smart and skilled. she can repair what mikio cannot, write, and solve brilliantly. he is a college drop out and mizu has not yet started.

- he becomes increasingly bitter over time until the two have a massive argument

- by the end, mizu comes home to an empty apartment with all of the money she had saved over the years gone. there is no trace of mama or m*kio.

present day:

- widely regarded as unfairly attractive.

- (those cold ass showers she always takes make her skin and hair flawless)

- secretly has a cute little skincare routine that she hides out of embarrassment from swordfather. she does not use conditioner in the shower.

- is always seen in hand-me-downs. sees no point in luxury items but she somehow always makes grandpa clothes work for her.

- swordfather pesters her to at least own two pairs of smart shoes and a nice shirt for special occasions. she obliges.

- she is smart, but deathly quiet. only nods in understanding and affirmative and only speaks when professors ask her to.

- her voice and demeanor have people thinking she’s a man more often than not. she never bothers to correct anyone.

- she’s actually quite respectful to authority/elders. if an elderly woman stops her on the street she bends down to meet her at eye level and helps her courteously. (carries her groceries, helps her cross the street, etc)

- she is well liked among the elderly.

- taigen is her main academic rival. the only reason he won the scholarship she could’ve got was because of the gap year she took. he often mocks her for this

- while he is part of a fraternity he’s not really a frat boy. a jock? certainly.

- akemi’s father owns the arts and sciences building in a different university. she’s only heard of mizu but hates “him” on taigen’s behalf.

- ringo is a social butterfly. his kind and friendly personality attracts a lot of friends in each class. he’s probably a part of pottery classes or something, artistic and a chef. he makes quick friends with mizu by his persistency, and mizu doesn’t have any friends besides him.

- she is often seen following him around, silent and deadly looking. “ringo’s scary friend”

General HCs on Mizu with an S/O

First Meeting: How would she have most likely come into contact with the reader?

Personally I believe that Mizu would have most likely met her future S/O whilst they were travelling or working.

I'm gearing this more towards non-binary/female readers so if you're a guy reading this I'm sorry 😞

Anyways, yeah she probably met her S/O whilst they were either running away from something, hiding themselves or maybe as a brothel worker.

Either way I really think the first meeting would go the same no matter how you met her.

She'd be pretty cold and distant as she is with most people, keeping her distance both physically and emotionally. At first she won't treat her future S/O that differently than others.

Her Type: What would her type be?

I see Mizu as someone who needs stability. So ideally her S/O wouldn't be someone with the tendency to need adventure or conflict to thrive.

She would probably want someone who knows who they are, someone she doesn't need to take care of as an addition to herself. Someone who is ok with being alone especially since Mizu strikes me as the type to need time to herself often.

I also think she wouldn't be great with words of affirmation, so if you really need words to feel secure I don't think she'd be a great partner for that. Throughout the show I notice that she shows appreciation mainly through acts of service and quaility time, and this would still be the case with her S/O.

In terms of apperance I don't think she'd actually care too much. I think she may have an unconcious bias towards other Asians since she was raised in Japan, but due to her prior experience with racisim I don't think she'd necessarily be willing to be with someone of European lineage. I think that this might change through time though, especially once Mizu manages to come to terms with her own features. Then I think she'd be pretty unbiased.

They'd also have to be more on the mature side. Not necessarily in terms of age, but just personality wise. Someone who is self-aware and understanding and paitent.

Trust: How trusting would she be?

At first not very.

Obviously she has had incredibly negative experiences with relationships, so once she had an S/O I think she may still struggle with making the difference between her past relationship and her current one.

This may result in a bit of a turbulent start and I think there may be more arguements.

However, as time goes on and she realises that her S/O is truly in love with her for who she is and would probably die for her she starts to open up some more.

I've seen other headcanons saying that she becomes more feminine once she's comfortable with her S/O and I 100% agree with it. Just imagining her with her S/O, her hair down and letting her partner put makeup on her makes me blush and giggle ngl. Like, she is stunning. Breathtaking. Absolutely gorgeous. Words cannot describe how wonderful she is.

Anyways-

Yeah it would be like the reverse of "calm before the storm".

Arguements: How would she handle an arguement between her and her S/O?

Ok, so firstly I think an arguement would probably arise due to her aforementioned unwillingness to open up. Her S/O would be tired of being kept in the dark or worried about Mizu and would pry, and Mizu would snap.

I think Mizu would actually end up storming off, wanting to cool down first before coming back.

Mizu isn't one to solve things with violence when it comes to the people she cares about, so I think she'd prefer to talk things out calmly instead of yelling.

It may turn into yelling if said S/O tried to follow her when she leaves to go cool down though.

After the arguement she may be a little cold for a couple of days before returning to her usual self.

Marriage: Does she want to get remarried?

At the beginning of the relationship I do not think she was very willing to get married again. (Fuck you M*kio.)

Of course, as I mentioned plenty of times before she would have a lot of reservations in terms of opening herself up emotionally.

She fears getting married again might be a Mikio pt. 2 which would not be great for her mental health.

But as the relationship grows and her S/O proves that they intended to stay by her side ring or not... that's when she starts to consider the idea again. Especially since this time it's with someone she truly loves and who loves her back.

Her wedding would be small. Obviously. No hate to my precious baby but she doesn't have a whole lot of friends nor family to invite over. It would most likely just consist of her S/O and her, Ringo and Akemi. Who may or may not have dragged Taigen along.

Mizu would get to wear her wedding attire and properly get married to the love of her life. 😭😭😭

I can imagine her being really nervous beforehand, wondering if her S/O might consider her ugly once she saw her in her wedding attire and what not.

Thinkin about the scene in Blue Eye Samurai where they show Mizu forging metal while naked and covered in writing to help ensure she’s connected to the craft, because it’s a very beautiful and meaningful scene, but she spent the last like 6 episodes getting beat up and sliced to hell and back and they barely showed a single scrap of evidence acknowledging it. And like. Would it not have been *more* powerful to show how much she’s sacrificed and risked herself during her journey through the countless scars, especially considering they wouldn’t have been there when we saw her in a flashback in episode 5? Genuinely, that’s one of my only flaws with the show, because if she’s going to take over-the-top, unsurvivable brutality on a regular basis, then at least acknowledge the impact that would have on her body. Of course I don’t *want* to see the poor babygirl all bruised and beaten, but like. How is she not??????? She’s been shot, stabbed many times, got a hole clean through the side of her foot, fell like 100 feet into freezing water, got crushed under a door by like 6 guys, its just.

due to many headcanons I've seen through the years I've been in this fandom, I grew very fond of the headcanon of them being Hawaiians (since Kai's name is also a Hawaiian name), but I also really enjoy the idea that they might be Chinese (Nya used to wear a qipao inspired outfit in s1-2). So, Hawaiian Chinese!

Lloyd

Despite being blond, I believe he's half Chinese half Japanese. The reason for that is that Misako has a Japanese name (but an English last name) and, well, his uncle has a Chinese name. That's it. Chinese japanese

Zane

Okay, he's a robot, but mimics a human nonetheless. I like to imagine that Zane is based on some relative (maybe a son) Dr.Julien lost. To me, Zane's father was french with Slavic or Nordic roots, so Zane probably looks like these groups of people mixed in one.

Jay

Half Korean, half European. I like the idea that his mother was already half Korean, and I headcannon Cliff Gordon to be Korean, or at least have Korean ancestry/heritage (not so sure about what word to use here). Unlike some people, I don't like using Jay being ginger as an explanation for him being half korean, because ginger hair is a mutation, it can happen in any group. But anyway, since Jay wasn't raised by his bio parents, I'm including Ed and Edna here, and I believe that they could be Latinos. I also don't have an specific country.

Having you as a girlfriend was plenty for Mizu. Content with college classes, some friends, and a beautiful girlfriend who’s there by her side. The stability is good.

At least, for most days, you were on her side.

Some days would be a little different. Of course, Mizu would try to check in with you as much as she possibly could, despite all the classes and responsibilities she had. These check ins were simple: maybe it was a quick text, or a “hi baby, i missed u too”, or even an “are we still on for tonight”.

This day’s texts was filled with… surprises.

It was Mizu’s morning lecture. Thankfully, your morning class got cancelled. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the same for Mizu.

Instead, she has to sit with many engineering students, who are also tired from the amount of projects, and listen to her professor go on about updating software, blah blah blah. In the depths of her backpack, Mizu feels the buzz of her phone. Her hand reaches for her phone, still focusing on her professor’s complicated explanations about the importance of formulas.

Placing the device in her lap, Mizu watches her professor dawdled on and on until—

Bzzt!

She looks down, tapping the screen to find two text messages from you:

The blurred image stares back at Mizu. Instantly, she promptly flips the phone over in her lap. At one glance, it immediately hits her as to what kind of image you just sent: the recognizable skin-colored shape matching with the same colored sheets of her bed in the back, the small bubble of rosy pink that faintly resemble your lips. The lack of clarity of the image teases her, waiting for her curiosity of your body to get to her.

If only Mizu could take a peek…

She looks around to scout the area, keeping a hand to safeguard her phone. Thankfully, the lecture hall was much larger than she anticipated and was able to snatch a seat near the top, far away from most of the students at the front. The closest person was four seats away to her left, luckily occupied with watching Netflix instead of the lecture. To her right was another student, at least six seats away, figuring out how to play sudoku.

With the coast clear, Mizu slowly flipped over her phone, taking the necessary precautions such as lowering the volume, dimming the brightness, and turning off the ringer. The talking of her professor warped into mumbling to Mizu, as her focus was on you.

Opening the phone again, she laid her eyes on the blurred image once again. She looked up one more time to find very student still distracted and a professor describing the details of their colleague’s meticulous work.

Perfect.

Her thumb held down on the image, revealing the image you deigned to send at this hour: a selfie you taken sideways, practically naked, with the morning sunlight peaking through the blinds highlighted your curves, outlining your body from your waist to your hips and down your legs, your breasts blocked by a soft pillow. Mizu searched for your face, cut off except by your teasing, smug smile.

Good lord, you looked good.

So good.

Too good that it felt like heat was radiating off her cheeks. With her heart racing, Mizu immediately flipped her phone over again, the racy sight of you running through her mind over and over again. The thought of you waiting for her in her bed with nothing on, oh the things she could do—

Mizu flipped over the phone to take a peek at your next message:

Mizu closes her phone, taking a deep breath to cool down, and attempt to relax her racing heart with every inhale and exhale. She couldn’t help that you can get to her in such deceptive ways.

Before taking the chance to take another check at her professor, two buzzes vibrate in her hand. Turning the phone once again, Mizu reads:

She stares at her phone, studying the blurred shape of the recent nude you sent. It’s hard to paint the image, but one thing is for sure: you’re showing it all for her to feast on.

With no hesitation, Mizu holds down the image to get a glimpse of your promiscuity. There in front of her was a picture you took through the bedroom mirror, sitting cowgirl style on a pillow, bare naked and basking in the sunlight with your whole ass reflecting back. Her eyes lit up as they made their way to your breasts, softly outlined by the sunlight. Their appearance this time around was short lived, due to its lack of visibility from the mirror’s angle.

She immediately closed her phone as the newest image of you burned in her mind. Every curve, the softness of your skin, the way your lips parted slightly developed her thoughts. In an attempt to shake her thoughts away, she looked back up, focusing on the subject at hand.

Thankfully, no one seemed to notice the dilemma Mizu was in. Some were watching a movie, others were playing 2048, and some were even playing Minecraft of all things. No one could even guess that covered by her sweaty palm, was pictures of you, completely ready for her.

Her breath halts to a stop. With eyes forward, she slowly flips her phone over again, making sure to suck up any final bits of information before she plans to ditch class. After a final nod, she looks down to find another message from you.

I can tell the main issue with the, so far, tiny blue eye samurai fandom is lgbt headcannons

this is a lot like what happened with Encanto, a movie telling a story about a culture, with specific cultural themes that a lot of people who were (mostly) not Hispanic thought were queer subtext

Headcannon: Zane and Pixal like children (Although they view the MiniPix Seven as a daughter, Zane has no working sperm and Pixal doesn’t have ovaries so they are infertile but plan to eventually build children by hand one day) and most children are ether Fascinated with them or a little scared of them. But children will be like: what are you made out of? What’s your life like? How did you get so big? (Zane and Pix respond with eating their vegetables and drinking their milk) How can a robot have powers? How can you have feelings? Can I touch your hair? (Kids like to run their fingers through Pixal’s surprisingly soft hair) They will also sometimes climb on them so Zane and Pix will get on their knees so if the kids fall it’s not too bad. Once they were on a mission to another village with the rest of the team and the villagers warned Zane and Pix that the children might be afraid of them as they have little to no technology. So Zane and Pix use their human cloaks (I imagine Zane is blond with blue eyes and pale skin while Pix is a lighter coffee shade of black skin with vitiligo matching her purple details, black hair, and green eyes) and Zane’s cloak malfunctions so Pixal takes Zane to the side to fix it and the kids see these two robots and are FASCINATED by them! They ask them questions, try on Pixal’s helmet, tackle them (they let the kids win on purpose saying things like: Oh no! The Titanium Ninja/Samurai X has been defeated by your superior might!) and the children end up making them flower crowns, braiding Pixal’s hair, getting their hands on their weapons (Zane was like: Be careful little ones! Those Shuriken’s are quite sharp!) The rest of the team find the two nindriods giggling alongside the children. Zane and Pix hand their weapons to their teammates so the children don’t hurt themselves. After the mission both the kids and the nindriods are sad to leave but Zane and Pixal occasionally stop by for a quick visit. As for the children who are afraid, When children are afraid of them, Zane and Pix will slowly remove their mask/helmet, put their weapons on the ground (trying to seem less threatening) give them a warm smile and get on their knees. Then they’ll let the children approach them at their own pace. (They are giant metal people, they understand how a child might find them frightening!)

Modern!Mizu General Headcanons!!

I have so many many ideas for Modern!Mizu omg you don't understand (I wish she was real...)

Ok, so first of all I wanna start out with some HCs about her past and her mother.

I think she probably grew up in rural Japan, her relationship with her mother basically still the same as in the show.

Due to not being exposed to very many foreigners her relationship with her peers was strained because of her blue eyes (ofc. hate discrimination smHHH)

Anyways, although Mizu doesn't have to hide her gender, and I personally headcanon that Modern!Mizu wouldn't hide it, she still has some internalized mysogyny.

This is namely due to the huge issue with sexisim in Japan, sexual harassment and sexualisation of women and so on. Mizu grew up wishing she was a boy because she didn't want to feel like a piece of meat to be eyed up and down and sold.

I HC that she meets the Swordfather when she attempted to run away from home. Probably due to another bullying incident or something.

In my head she actually moves to America or Europe to study something related to craftsmanship or to become a professional martial artist. It makes the most sense in my head at least.

She got into Uni on a scholarship lol. I mean, translated into a modern setting I do think her skill would be enough to warrant a large scholarship.

University was a rough time in the beginning for her due to the many changes that come with moving to a new country, as myself and most other third country kids will know.

Mizu had to juggle learning English, beating racist asshole and school all at the same time.

Due to her reluctance to socialize she also struggles to learn English in the verbal sense. She learned how to read and write in English much faster than to speak it because she had no one practice with. That, and she refused to talk to anyone.

As for how she met Mikio...

Modern!Mizu probably met him because he was a teacher at her Uni.

Long story short when he finds out how she was concieved and how strong he is, well, big strong man gets emasculated and throws a fit and Mizu leaves him (as she should)

And then she realises she's gay lol

I think it'd happen in a pretty similar fashion as to Canon!Mizu but you can look at my headcanons for those if you need them.

I think the main differences between Modern!Mizu and Canon!Mizu would primarily be in how she deals with her rage. Of course, Modern!Mizu isn't allowed the luxury of just stabbing people to get revenge so I believe she may resort to a lot of physical exertion in the gym or just a lot of lashing out towards people in general.

     • you nodded. you felt you could trust her. you slowly reached a hand up, brushing a hand across her jaw. she seemed jittery about being touched; but she didn’t push you away

     • your touch felt…. warm. nice.

     • you just seemed to be getting a feel for her; seeing as your hand soon traveled down to her hand. you felt her hands, which were rough and calloused

     • it allowed you to know she was a samurai. a strong, skilled one, at that

     • you seemed to trust her, so she offered to take you to a nearby town to get you stitched up.

     • you agree. she helps you out of the snow, and she walks you to the nearest town. she sees an empty cabin, and takes you in there. you though she was going to take you to an apothecary; not do it herself.

     • it made you flustered, knowing she would be touching you

     • she stitched you up gently, asking questions to get to know you. you intrigued her. 

     • before you knew it; you were staying with a samurai. someone who actually knew how to handle you; how to be gentle and kind knowing you couldn’t see. she even taught you some things that her “sword-father” had done.

     • you knew you were falling for her; even if you couldn’t see her, you knew she was a beautiful soul. 

     • and she was falling for you, too, seeing the way you moved about your inability to see. how it didn’t stop you from doing almost anything you sent your mind to; hell, she'd even taught you a little with her blade.

    • you guys def got hitched very quickly <3 she couldn’t spend another second not having you as her wife.
