Titus had found that one serf who had gained the eye of a couple of his younger brothers, who were being… a bit unprofessional. One was being mischievous and needling the more easily provoked brother. Who is falling for the lure and bait, hook, line, and sinker.

Titus shakes his head with a sigh and a huff of laughter, he remembers the pair of bratty little brothers back when they were merely battle brothers- before they had attained their lofty ranks. The younger of the two squabbling brothers knew how much ‘improper’ speech could bother the hell out of the Noble born Ultramarines, and did it anyway.

It’s good- to try to find ways to humble some of the more… elitist brothers, drag them back into the soil and mud. Kept their egos in check, so long as it didn’t go too far, things going too far hasn’t happened in a while, but he’s monitoring that situation, just in case.

It’s good that more of Ventris’s personality is coming back out, as much as it’s sometimes aggravating. The poor younger brother had been tortured by a faction of the Inquisition, Titus grimaces to himself, he knows first hand how miserable that experience can be.

He spots you and calls out, “Miss Serf?”

You turn and look over at him, bowing politely and asking, “How may I serve you, My Lord?”

“I need help cleaning and tending to my armor,” Titus says, “Come with me.”

“Yes Lord Angel,” You reply

You had heard that Lord Demetrian Titus was known for being polite and soft spoken. Resolute and dauntless, caring and concerned for the baseline folk. Something that cannot be said for all Lord Angels, or so you have been told by some of the older, more experienced Serfs.

You help him take off his armor- which is incredibly heavy, he helps you shift the pieces of armor too heavy for you to carry to be carefully placed where he wants it to be cleaned. Once the Armor is off you try not to fluster.

The black carapace that is void-capable adheres to Lord Astarte bodies like a second skin. Then you try not to cough as your eye water, you have also been warned that the … ripe scent of a Lord Angel who’s been on campaign, and unable to be out of armor for weeks or months at a time can be quite… pungent.

“I am glad of the communal baths,” Titus says with a self-deprecating smile, “It helps with washing the mud of battle off one’s skin.”

“As you say, Lord Titus,” You say your cheeks are still pink and your eyes water a little bit.

“Stay here and clean my armor, I shall be back in a few moments,” Lord Titus says as he heads off to have a luxurious bath in the Astartes bathing area- joining a mixed group of battle brothers and officers.

While he relaxes in the baths, talking and listening to his brother talk about the battles they’ve recently fought, and some of the best currency they have gossip. Titus hears the story of how Sicarius- as a Sargent, The Chapter Master, The Head Librarian, and another brother, basically ruined an entire space marine’s career.

No one knows the reasons, official or otherwise for the reason they had done so, but it was good gossip to have- and a reminder of the power that their Chapter Master held, not just the martial power, but the soft power as well.

Part of Titus wondered if he should ask Cato his side of that particular story, and if the younger Space marine will tell him or not. Even odds- Cato is usually proud of his accomplishments, as well as helping their Chapter Master do Things.

While that was going on, you were carefully cleaning, scrubbing and polishing Lord Titus’s armor. The brackish, awful smelling armor slowly becomes that noble hue of blue and gold. You clean and replace the cloth and bucket of cleaning solution and water as needed.

By the time all of the armor is properly cleaned and polished, your arms are sore from carefully heaving the heavier parts of armor around to ensure that it’s properly cleaned on both sides. That the leather-mixture, whatever it was on the inside of the armor is also properly cleaned and taken care of.

“Thank you for getting my armor done,” Titus thanks you.

You jump a little, startled, Lord Angels are surprisingly light on their feet and silent out of armor.

“You are welcome, Lord Angel,” You reply, now that the smell of mud, blood, and battle was off of him, your cheeks flush a little as you try not to… eye the Lord Angel inappropriately. 

He gives you a small smile and a gentle nod as he releases you from the task of trying to put the armor away properly. Which he does easily, he dismisses you and you bow to him and head out to return to your previous duties.

You keep a frantic pace away from Clyde's place. Well, it isn't his anymore. You realise then you didn't get a name. You didn't get much of anything. Oh god. That was horrible. You told your grandmother you didn't want to bother. That man doesn't need a pie.

You come to the end of the drive and turn down the country road. At least it's good exercise. You shrug to yourself and cringe as you try to shake off the humiliation. Just stop thinking about it.

'Pie.'

Ugh, could you not think of anything else to say? You mutter to yourself about how stupid you are. What are you going to tell your grandma? She'll have a thousand questions, as nosy as she is.

As you carry on, wiping your sweaty palms on your flowy linen pants, you hear a rumbling. It's the familiar noise of a farmer's truck. You sidle over on the shoulder to make way for the passerby. To your surprise and chagrin, they don't pass. Instead, they slow and keep a snailish pace with you.

"Hey," the man calls. You know it's the stranger, his voice is stamped in your head; 'pie'. His eyes too. His bold blue irises stormy like the ocean. "Hey, let me give you a ride. Must be quite a ways you came down here."

"It's okay," you refuse to look over, "I'm fine."

"It's not too much trouble. I'm headed into town for some supplies. Maybe you know where I can find some chain."

He revs the truck, idling then bouncing forward with each step you make. You ball your fists tight as you stomp on. Why won't he let you go hide in shame?

"It was real sweet to bring that pie," he says, "what kind was it? I couldn't tell."

"Rhubarb," you answer, still bearing down on the country road. "I can walk, sir."

"I... I hope I didn't scare you," he says.

You're silent. You stalk onward. Home, home, always so far away. His stick shift cranks and the truck stops. He leaves it running as the door pops open and his footsteps march over the pavement onto the gravel.

"Will you please stop?" He comes up behind you, "look, where I'm from, we keep things even. You brought me a pie, I'll give you a ride."

You just want him to leave you alone. He might go away quicker if you just let him drive you. Then again, you don't like the idea of being alone in a car with him.

"No thank you."

"Hmm," he as good as growls, "you're the first unfriendly face I've met around here."

"I'm not..." you let your voice trail off, "sorry sir, but it's not far."

"Then it's no big thing."

"I like to walk," you squeak.

"Damn stubborn," he comments as he stops.

You keep going as his footsteps trail away. You don't look back as his engine roars again. He falls back into the same pattern as before, lurching forward little by little with your steps. You want him to go away so badly. You have tears in your eyes.

You look across the field. The Berrys are nice people. You gauge the distance to the trees. There's an old path you haven't been along since Cassidy still lived at home, your old babysitter.

You veer suddenly and fall into a sprint across the expanse of tall grass. You must look ridiculous but you've already made such a fool of yourself that it hardly matters. You're not really thinking, you're panicking.

You hear his engine stop and grumble in place. You pump your arms as you race over the flat ground and disappear behind the old well and down towards the brush. Your lungs burn but you don't stop. You can't.

He wouldn't follow you, would he?

You don't stop until you have to. You gasp and gulp and peer over your shoulder into the trees. There's nothing but the moss and scrambling critters. You stumble and lean on a thick trunk.

Great. You really outdid yourself. That man must think you're insane. Maybe you are.

You catch your breath and set back on the path home. Too bad the village is so small. The only way you'll never run into him again is if you take on a self-imposed exile.

Or you could just become a hermit.

You come in sight of your grandma's house. She's on the porch, swaying in the bench swing as she crochets. You tramp up the steps as she glance over without turning her head.

“That was quick,” she comments. “What happened to you?”

“Nothing,” you lie.

“You're a mess,” she scowls at your pants, mud splattered up the chambray.

“Oh, uh, yeah,” you shrug. “Just took a shortcut.

“Mhmm, aren't you going to tell me about them?”

“Um,” you move to lean on the porch railing, “it was just some guy.”

“Some guy?” She wonders, needles clacking. “Young, old?”

“Er, I guess, pretty young…”

“So no wife? Single, hm,” she mulls.

“I think. I didn't ask.”

“Well, what's his name?”

“Oh.”

“Oh?” She narrows her eyes.

“I didn't… get it.”

“Ugh,” she frowns, “I should've gone myself but my hip. I'll have to call Lynette and see if she's heard anythinf else.”

“Sorry,” you pout.

“Well, you never were very social,” she tuts, “but I'd say you're more than old enough to learn. I'd like to have a great grandchild or two before I'm in the ground.”

“Grandma,” you exclaim, “don't talk like that.”

“You need me too. You need sense. You have no sense of urgency, dear. In a place like this, that's saying something.”

You deflate and throw your hands up, “sorry to disappoint… again.”

You push yourself off the railing and drag your feet towards the door.

“Oh don't be a child,” she reproaches.

You ignore her snipe, “what do you want for dinner?”

“Already in the oven,” she states tritely, “silly me, I thought you might invite the new neighbour to meet me, since I'm a but limited at the moment.”

“I… didn't think.”

She hums in disapproving agreement. You continue inside before she can make you feel any smaller. You know you're behind, you always have been. You're just as disappointed as she is.

You watch Jiwoong silently while he chops a few more pieces of wood before tossing them on top of the roaring flames from the fire pit. Discarded pans and dishes are off to the side from the filling dinner of meat and ramen that your boyfriend had so generously prepared all by himself. You had insisted on helping him cook and clean, but Jiwoong, ever the gentleman, made sure you didn't lift a finger at all this trip and had done everything himself. "Woongie," you call faintly. "Yes, my love?" Jiwoong pauses his movements and gives you his full attention with a smile. "Come cuddle with me and then let's make s'mores?" The man drops everything and hurries over to you, nearly toppling on top of you before planting a kiss to the crown of your head. "Anything for you."

"Marco!" Sounds of "polo" are shouted back in various pitches and noise levels, as you and your friends splash around in the water. Blue skies bleed into hues of oranges and pinks while you all have spent the whole day getting wrinkly in Ricky's pool. Feeling thirsty from all the games, you slip out and grab your towel, drying off before sitting on the edge while sipping your cold drink from the cooler. You watch Taerae get attacked by a closed-eyed Matthew as a finger taps your thigh. Hao stands waist-deep in front of you with his mouth open, making indistinguishable noises, but you catch onto what he wants. Pouring the rest of the drink in his mouth, you discard the can to the side before leaning down to plant a peck on the man's lips. The drink lingers with the faintest taste of chlorine, but it's only a momentary thought, as Hao's laugh fills the air while he suddenly tugs you by the hand back into the water.

It’s sunny and swelteringly hot outside. Sweat drips down your forehead, and you can’t help but wipe it with the back of your hand in slight disgust. You wonder how you ended up here, a somewhat crowded blueberry patch during such a humid summer day. But then you glance over across the bush at Hanbin who has a wide and excited grin on his face. “Look at this one!” He exclaims excitedly, holding up a big, ripe blue one for you to see. You nod at him, an enamored look in your eyes. You guess that you could deal with the bugs and uncomfortable stickiness on your skin if it means seeing Hanbin happy like a kid in a candy store. You both fill up two large buckets with the sweet berry and take them home, making blueberry pie, muffins, tarts, and jam.

The bright lights from the tents down below look like twinkling stars from up above, as you, Matthew, and the giant stuffed bear that he had won squish into the ferris wheel cart. You eagerly point out all the places you both had been that night when you get a better view, and Matthew watches you adoringly with a smile. When you're finally at the top, he snakes an arm around your waist before leaning in for a long kiss. "You know about the rumors?" He murmurs quietly against your lips, eyes locked onto yours. Heat rises to your cheeks at the close proximity as you shake your head silently. "They say that if you kiss on top of the ferris wheel, your relationship will last forever." The man goes in for another, taking his sweet time before peppering delicate kisses across your jaw until his lips linger by the shell of your ear. "I guess that means you're mine for eternity."

You and Taerae walk hand in hand through the rows upon rows of stalls selling everything from freshly baked goods to blooming flowers. A loaf of sourdough, ruby red apples, prosciutto, some cheese, and a blanket sit in your tote bag on Taerae's shoulder for the picnic that was planned for later. The two of you had made it a habit to wake up early on Sundays to take a walk, go to your favorite cafe for brunch, and then head over to the weekly farmer's market. There was something domestic about the little routine you both had fallen into, and you definitely didn't mind the quiet coos that grannys would offer on the street about how much of an adorable couple you two were. Taerae suddenly stops in front of a booth selling mason jars of wildflowers and instantly hands the owner some cash, insisting you pick out your favorite with a kiss to your temple.

The sound of waves crashing against the sand are like white noise in your ears, as you lay out under the beating sun. Your skin feels warm from spending the afternoon outside, but you sense a presence and jump a little at the cold drops that fall onto you. “You gonna come in the water?” Ricky asks while a hand runs through his hair, more droplets hitting you as he shakes his head like a wet dog. “Maybe in a little bit,” you reply, taking in the sight of the blonde boy before you. a thin silver chain falls down the slope of his neck and rests just above his bare chest. His swim trunks fit him well and are in a light rose shade that he had boughten after you had offhandedly mentioned that you thought he looked good in the color. “Like what you see?” There’s a slightly smug tone in his voice as he catches you staring. “You look nice.” In one swift motion, Ricky picks you up and throws you over his shoulder with ease, moving towards the water and threatening to drop you in unless you give him a better compliment than just “nice.”

"Buttercup, please don't bite eumpappa's ear!" You hear your boyfriend's voice before you see him, but the sight before you causes Gyuvin to whine as you nearly double over in tears. "Babe, how did this happen?" The brunette gives a sheepish smile, tips of his ears red, while you help untangle him from the many dog leashes wrapped around him. Gyuvin had decided to take up dog walking as a summer side job to make some extra money to take you out on dates. He had thought it was a brilliant idea considering that he already walked eumpappa, so what were a few more pups? Well, a few more soon turned into five which then turned into eight, and although Gyuvin was too prideful at first to ask for your help, you eventually got the call to meet him outside of his apartment complex with the promise of ice cream in return. You supposed it all worked out in the end, as you got to spend time with cute puppies and your even cuter boyfriend.

Gunwook throws a glance over at you once and a while, finding it cute how your face scrunches up in concentration as you make your bead bracelet. Originally, the boy had come over to sit next to you, but you had banished him to the other side of the arts and crafts hall, declaring that he wasn’t allowed to peek at what you were going to work on. So here Gunwook was, pouty and a bit sulky, as he waited patiently for you to finish whatever you were doing so he could spend some time with you. The second he sees you snipping the thin string with scissors, he rushes over like an eager puppy. “Here, I made this for you.” Taking his large hand in yours, you slip the bracelet that adorns your name onto his wrist. Before you can say anything else, Gunwook repeats the action, wordlessly giving you the one he had made too. You peak at the letters with a smile. Gunwook.

"Yujin, aren't you a little too old to run a lemonade stand?" Slowly pulling your sunglasses down and peering over them, you stare a bit incredulously at the boy sitting in the children's chair that's clearly too small for him. "I-I'm just helping out my cousin..." He manages to stutter in a bit of embarrassment, rubbing the nape of his neck and avoiding eye contact. You readjust your sunglasses and notice the little girl coming back out of the house with a plastic pitcher filled to the brim with the citrusy drink. "I'll take three." You say suddenly, pulling out the proper amount and handing it to Yujin, as he snaps out of his daze. The little girl perks up at the influx of business, eagerly pouring three cups. You leave a generous tip in the plastic jar and hand her one of the cups before taking a seat in the grass of the lawn beside Yujin. Sipping on the cool liquid, you extend the extra cup to him with a smile.

Yes, the thought brushed his mind: this is how she’d looked, in the aftermath of pleasure.

A Little Visit

I was struck with inspiration today! And so now you have this! Huzzah! (the inspiration was realizing this au was purely self indulgent and I can write whatever I want :3)

“OZ!” Glynda called, waving as she entered the gate. She wore a large purple witches hat, adorned with flowers and leaves and a few mushrooms along the inner brim. Her outfit consisted of a poet sleeved white blouse, black apron dress over top, brown riding boots, and her signature dark purple cloak billowing around her. Her face adorned with large framed round glasses, and light make up, or a glamor elixir, Oz couldn’t tell.

“Glynda!” he called back from the window. He wore his long silver hair in a casual braid that Oscar had done for him. His own tinted spectacles sitting low on his nose, making him continually push them up. He wore a simple off white poet sleeve shirt, moss green unbuttoned vest, and matching pants. His cane in his right hand as usual. “Put Disciplinarian in the field with the other horses and we’ll have a chat! You showed up at just the right time! Oscar and I just took our pie out of the oven!”

She quickly did so, smiling as her black Arabian horse snorting and nudging her face affectionately before racing off after Long Memory, Ozpin's black and white Galineers Cob, and Fairytale, Oscars chestnut blanket appaloosa. She walked up the short dirt path to Ozpin's cottage, the little trail lined by native wildflowers and little creatures of all sorts. Glynda giggled slightly as a fairy dragon zoomed past, chasing a lady bug for lunch. A jackalope hopping along merrily, a few glimmering limour birds flying and singing their siren songs. Such a lovely place this was… She reached the door at last, and knocked on the round wooden door, it had been hand made by Ozpin himself. This entire cabin really had. From the circular wooden door, to the cobblestone siding covered in ivy, the wooden curved gray roof, covered partially in moss and various flora, the white trimmed circular windows. Every bit, lovingly handcrafted, and magic crafted, but Ozpin himself. The door opened and Ozpin embraced his dear friend, “Oh Glynda it’s wonderful to see you! How are you faring? Come in! Come in! Please! Oh and take off your shoes, we just sweeped and I’d like to keep it tidy for at least half an hour. If we can.”

Glynda snorted, hugging him back and  stepping in, hanging her cloak and messenger bag, and placing her boots neatly next to Ozpin and Oscar's hiking shoes, still partly caked in mud. “Am I to wager that you only recently returned from an outing?”

“Caught red handed!” Ozpin laughed, “Honeysuckle and I picked the black berries just this morning, and spent the day cleaning and backing. There were a great deal of berries, and we may have gotten a tad overzealous in picking them.”

“AUNTIE!” a sudden blur cried before barreling into the potion maker, nearly toppling her over.

But Glynda just laughed and spun the young boy into a hug, “Oscar my darling! How’s my sweet sunshine, hm?” “I’m the best!” he giggled, his sweet apple cheeks, dappled with freckles making his youthful adorableness increase tenfold. He wore a little dark orange sundress, an unbuttoned green vest with mushrooms and sheep embroidered on it thrown over. He also wore a little bright red ribbon in his hair, it held the end of a neat braid laying on the side of his head.

Glynda set him on her hip as she walked with Oz to the kitchen. She always admired Ozpin's house, it was so colorful, each room a new color, the cheery spring yellow of the kitchen, the dark blue of the sitting room, Ozpin's own dark green room, painted with vines and flowers, Oscars autumn room with moving paintings of an autumn forest, set to match the weather outside, though it never changed seasons. A true feat of magic, artistry, and love. Yes, Glynda certainly admired Ozpin's house.

“Would you care for some tea? I find earl gray goes well with blackberry pie! Or am I thinking of the jam…” he hummed to himself, already getting out the delicate china tea cups, painted with pink flowers and gold edging, old, but looking new.

“I’d love some.” she smiled easily, putting Oscar in the chair next to her before sitting down. “I was on my way home after a day of foraging in the woods and thought I’d stop by. I found some good stuff! Some lavender, rosemary, wormwood, roses, and mint! And some brittlebush, radishes, milkweed, and white dead nettle!”

“My my! And how’d you find all of that in the woods?” He smiled easily and warmly, setting a slice of pie and a full cup of tea in front of her and a matching group for himself and Oscar.

Glynda inhaled and could smell the tea and pie, and the scent of pine and hot chocolate that seemed to follow Ozpin everywhere, as well as the smell of damp moss and dirt that Oscar carried. “I’m just that good.” she smirked back.

“But of course! The great potion master Glynda Goodwitch can be stopped by nothing! Even nature itself!” Ozpin laughed, cutting into his pie with a fork and taking a bite. Glynda did so as well and hummed contently. The buttery crust, blackberry juice running down the corner of her mouth, a touch of lemon, and the heat of cinnamon.

“Oz how in the world did you get so sublime at baking?” she asked, politely patting the filling off her face.

“Years of practice and burnt offerings to the trash gods!” he quipped quickly, taking a sip of his tea. Glynda laughed and shook her head fondly. She did love that quick wit of his.

“Sadly I can’t stay too much longer.” she sighed, half her pie eaten and all her tea drank. Looking outside, the sky was slowly turning pinker. “I have to get back home before dark.” Flicking her wrist to wrap up what little remained of her pie, she stood. “Nooooo!” Oscar whined, hugging her middle quickly and looking at her with his large doe eyes. “Don’t go yeeeeet!” Ozpin chuckled and gently removed his son from her waist, “She’ll be back another day my darling sunflower. No need to worry.” He pulled her into another hug, affectionately kissing her cheek. “It’ll be dark soon, better go now. We’ll see you soon Glynda, I love you!” Glynda smiled and kissed his and Oscars cheeks in return, “I love you two as well. I’ll see you soon! Maybe tomorrow if the weather is fair!”

She whistled for Disciplinarian and petted the steed's nose as it trotted to her. Saddling up she smiled at Oscar and Ozpin, waving to her from their doorway. She waved back happily, sending a little firework into the sky, making Oscar squeal with delight, and Ozpin laugh fondly.

oki so his name is Berry Pie and like thousands of years ago he was a first rate warrior in the red clan (there are like four total). he was found as a baby by an elder and got raised by him, did a lot of battle, fell in love with pretty healer, got married, had son.

then the blue clan got a new reckless leader bound to declare war on everyone so yellow clan struck first killing Berry Pie's son in their attack and taking him and filling him with poisons that combined in just the right way to make him half undead so they took his heart away and locked him in multiple coffins but it wore off lots of years later and eventually got his heart back.

also its the apocalypse now (infection au teehee) and there is a silly girl like :3

also i decided to give him big naturals no reason
