Plant of the Day
Wednesday 15 June 2022
In this gravel driveway Geranium sanguineum (bloody cranesbill) has seeded from an adjacent border. This spreading rhizomatous perennial seems to survive being driven over a couple of times in a week.

Ground Ivy
Of old, women carried Ivy to aid fertility and general good luck. They also carried it to ensure fidelity and from this came the custom of brides carrying Ivy. Ivy wherever it is grown or proliferates, guards against negativity and disaster. Wands entwined with Ivy were used in the worship of Bacchus, and are used in nature and fertility rites. Ritually and magically the Ivy is paired with the Holly tree and the vine (see “The Holly Tree” and “The Vine”).
Japanese Barberry
Sprinkled in the paths of your enemies to bar their way and stop them following you.
Garden Dahlia
Rose of Sharon
Fragrant Plantain Lily
Bloody Cranesbill
Common Lady Fern
Used to prevent jinxes, to remove evil spirits from the home, to help ward off burglars.

Found some Bloody Cranesbill walking in the park today. What’s really fascinating about this plant is as it ages it starts to get dark vein like designs on the flower peddles. They are normally a darker version of the color of the flower. These ones will eventually get dark purple veins on them. #Bloodycranesbill #cranesbill #cranesbillplant #bloodcranesbillplant #franceplants #olcvactation #ourlittlechateauonvacation #indoorplants #houseplants #instaplants #indoorgarden #plantsmakepeoplehappy #plantlifestyle #plantsofinstagram #plantsplantsplants #plantstrong #plantfasciitis #plantstagram #plantslover #plantsarefriends #valenciennes#france #french

i have all these pics on my phone and they are simply too cool to just delete. they’re from trip to burren i took with work…. this is what we thought was a thyme broomrape… if u look to bottom left you’ll see wild thyme which is what it parasitises on. it doesn’t have chlorophyll how cool is that
this amazing thing is a mountain aven once it has finished flowering. i think it looks like a falling star… u can also see it’s leaves all around it too
a friend and a boy… some type of grasshopper i am not sure of species
most beautiful shocking vibrant colour that belongs to a bloody cranesbill- type of geranium
close up of one of my favourite grasses ever, quaking grass
and finally the moth butterfly finds of the day… dew moth, transparent burnet (never seen one of them before HOW cool) and a wood tiger

how are you? how's everything going?
what are were your favourite flowers?
*here's a hug* 🧡
hope everything is going as wonderful as you are!!
Myle!! I'm good. I have now seen the first 2 Indiana Jones films and am in possession of a cheap badminton set😏 Also I'm giving you a hug back😘😘
These are all my favourite flowers because there's loads where I live so I don't get sad thinking about how I might never see them in person, and because I can identify them and I love being a know-it-all
So here they are in no particular order:
and now here they are again but this time names and in a particular order (the order that I've put their pictures in) and under the cut because I like to talk:
Daisies - you can make daisies chains with them and seeing the big ones always makes me happy because I love it when things get big even though big is kinda like their default size. Also the ones that have a bit of pink on their tips? beautiful
Foxglove - a little bit poisonous but it's got a sexy name and a fun look. looks like a little hat an elf would wear on an important day
Bluebells the ones pictured are English bluebells which you can tell because the flowers are on one side making it droop down; if the flowers are more evenly didstrabuted around the stem so that it doesn't droop over then they're Spanish bluebells (they might have different colloquial terms in other countries that aren't England though) - once again a great name and they look like a little magic dude would wear them. also reminds me of a book I had wear the characters were illustrated with flower based clothes and one of them had a blue look with a bluebell hat
Hydrangeas - tbh animal crossing - pocket camp is the reason I love them so much because they had a bunch of hydrangea themed and also they're pretty but taht goes for every flower
Lavander - I love the smell and I've got a massive lavender Bush in my garden
Roses - the petals feel really nice and soft and I love all the rose metaphors or whatever the fuck they are that people right about them Also I have some of these that grow in my garden
Forget-me-nots - it's mainly because I really like their name
Crane's-bill - I'm pretty sure they're geraniums and the one pictured is a bloody cranesbill. I also I like the meadow cranesbill which are purple - they're just pretty and I see a bunch when I go on walks
Sunflowers - they're just so tall that it's hard not to be amazed by them and also cool name (it has the word 'sun' in it that's V. sexy) ALSO I like the painting by Vincent and have a knock-off painting in my hallway that one of my grandma's friends did
Special mention to Vrieseas because I'm not sure when plants become flowers so idk if it counts but it does flower. there's other colours but I used to have one that looked like this

Jehan, question. What kind of plant should I buy? Preferably low maintenance because I don’t want to kill them. Now, I know I’m the ‘smart’ one of the group, but really, I just need someone else’s opinion. (amber-nebula)
I’m glad you ask Ferre!!You have so many options!!You can get a Cactus because you seem like the type that wants only plain plants, no offense Ferre. But I have more so no worries! You can gets Endless Summer Hydrangea, Bromeliads, Bloody Cranesbill, or Quartz White Verbena.Personally though, between you and I, I prefer Peonies, Cherry Blossoms, Roses, Anemone, Camellia, Sweet Pea and Buttercup. Scientifically the name of the buttercup is Ranunculus. A Dangerous plant would be a Bleeding Heart and it’s so pretty!! I love them, they are so beautiful!!This is one of the Anemone plants!! I’m sure our amis would like this!!
