i often forget that gravity falls was not Initially made to have a plot bc a lot of it just works out really well in my opinion. anyway when bill possessed dipper and said “two eyes? this thing’s deluxe” bc when this episode came out i think bill still wasn’t even Thought Of to be this like final villain yet, much less as Havinb Known And Worked With Ford, but at this point we can Now re-contextualize this line like ‘he used to possess ford, who wears glasses, this can be seen as a jab at ford for having “four eyes”, where dipper presumably has perfect vision’ but now we know bill has possessed at least a few other people including at least two corpses that I’m aware of. did not a single one of them have good vision until dipper. the corpses i can understand but otherwise

a headcanon about every gravity falls character I can think of off the top of my head:

- dipper’s chewing pen habit came from his mother, who tried to get him to stop biting his nails by handing him a pen instead. he doesn’t bite his nails anymore, but he’s uncomfortably used to the taste of ink now

- mabel learned how to knit out of spite. an adult at school told her it was probably too hard for her and she learned it all by herself out of pure rage. she can and will knit nearly 2 sweaters per week now

- stan keeps a journal to document all the things he begins to remember. sometimes he’ll be talking to ford and cut himself off mid-sentence to jump up and rush to grab his journal excitedly. he jokingly calls it journal 4

- when visiting a new city, ford decides to get a tattoo to match stan’s. finally he has a tattoo that he actually likes

- soos is BELOVED as the new mr mystery. sales are even better than when stan ran it, but he keeps that a secret from stan so as to not hurt his feelings

- along with all of the obvious stuff wendy is good at like cutting lumber and climbing trees, she also holds a world record in cup stacking

- melody is trying really hard to beat wendy’s score. they have a friendly competition. soos doesn’t understand why they can’t BOTH hold the world record. he loves them both and can’t root for either and it’s stressing him out

- once the therapism took away his arts and crafts hour, they gave bill a piano. he’s surprisingly good at jazz

- when fiddleford moves into the northwest mansion, he adopts two raccoons and one opossum from the junkyard to bring with him. he is very good at taking care of them and they adore him

- pacifica collects pokémon cards. she’s very secretive and very territorial about them. no one she battles can beat her. her favorite pokémon is drifblim

- when robbie hit puberty his hair actually started getting curly, so he straightens it every day. it is completely and utterly dead from all the heat but he keeps telling himself it’s a later problem

- gideon is coding his own website to blog his journey of becoming a better person. it’s slow-moving and frustrating but he thinks he’s…having fun??

- grenda and candy have been friends since candy moved from korea at age 6. grenda saw she was sitting alone at school and had no problem going to ask her if she liked boys. to this day candy is so grateful that grenda has always been more direct than she is

- abuelita just adores melody. she affectionately calls her mija whenever she visits

- blubs and durland have their honeymoon at disneyland. durland likes the teacups the best. they make blubs sick but he does it for him

- lazy susan’s home is full of home goods decorations like “I like cats more than people” and “autumn leaves and pumpkins please!”

- toby determined finds himself settling well into his role as bodacious t. although shandra jimenez still doesn’t like him back, she’s nicer to him now. she even introduced him to a friend of hers, whom he has taken on several dates

- mayor tyler still likes to gossip and encourage fighting whenever he can, even within his own office. he insists upon a good natured rivalry with the neighboring towns, which results in some destroyed property. his approval rating is through the roof

- blendin blandin finally discovers xanax

here’s a general idea of deal changing for personal deals and stays in them while preforming his end and for the other.unless you end it like Gideon did then he goes back to his usual attire that happens to be the one he made for fords deal. Wink wink nudge nudge

In singular deranged days work (where I was supposed to be getting OTHER things done) I made a cipher journal for decoding the ciphers in Gravity Falls, specifically for Journal 3, the Book of Bill and thisisnotawebsite.com. This included (ultimately) three pages of common ciphers used in the Gravity Falls fandom; originally I was only going to do two, but then got to the Blendin page in Journal 3, sighed deeply and made an extra page on the Vignére cipher. The clasps I made myself by hand, and the little white toggle is a raccoon tooth, which I may change out depending on what becomes available. The purple ink, although unable to be seen within the photos, actually glitters and looks rather cosmic to my delight.

Considering I made the most of it within a day, it meant I used the paper I had at hand, which wasn't good paper for actual ink as it bleeds through slightly (and is thus unbecoming), but as a fancy schm-ancy idiot who insists on using actual ink with dip pens for the 'breadth of the experience', this means I'm ultimately only using one side of the paper (to my chagrin) and the letters aren't as clear as they could be when I write on the paper. Nevertheless, I am rather happy about the result; young me from about a decade ago, who began to make a similar journal only to abandon the project would have been immensely excited that I actually made one and am currently using it to decipher things within Journal 3. There is something rather satisfying about it, I do confess.

Dipper and Mabel's Conflict

The conflict begins with Dipper and Mabel having a disagreement because Dipper decided to study abroad, despite the fact that they initially agreed to go to the same place. The argument ends with Dipper losing his temper and cutting off all ties with his family, leaving without any further contact. Years pass, and he is considered missing.

Later, after several years, Mabel receives an invitation from him to come to Relativity Falls and decides to go there. Upon arrival, things unfold similarly to canon, with a conflict arising due to misunderstandings. Eventually, Dipper ends up in a portal, leaving Mabel with a tape (here, Dipper was keeping a video diary). She tries to bring him back. Since nobody in the town knew who lived in the shack, Mabel easily pretends that she was always the one living there.

Stan and Ford

Ford himself asks to become Dipper's apprentice. Dipper agrees, but only if Ford proves he is ready by creating something useful that shows he can truly handle the scientific responsibilities.

Stan reacts calmly to the news that Ford wants to stay. He isn’t afraid of being alone.

Ford has already created the invention, but before he has a chance to present it, he and Dipper go to the UFO to get glue, as it happened in the canon.

While they are away, Mabel talks to the twins' parents and explains everything that has been happening. This becomes the final straw for Stan, who starts feeling extremely foolish and weak compared to his brother, and he has a meltdown. He accidentally breaks Ford's invention but then somehow fixes it and pretends that everything is okay.

When Ford and Dipper return, Ford presents his invention, but it doesn’t work. Dipper refuses to take him on as an apprentice, at least for now. Then Dipper notices a pack of his brother’s favorite chips and begins to suspect something. They have a confrontation, and Stan, feeling guilty and ashamed, runs away, accidentally taking the wrong backpack.

I'll just make a list of Gravity Falls' spin-offs that I would like to watch:

- A spin-off telling what Stanford saw during the 30 years that he spent in the Nightmare Realm and other dimensions. Stanford wrote in Journal 3 that he would need 10 journals to write about what happened when he lived there, so there must be many amazing things to see (I also would like to know more about the Oracle/Seven-eyes, she seems quite mysterious).

- A spin-off about Bill's whole life before meeting Stanford. Since his life in Euclydia (and its destruction) to the moment he meet the Henchmaniacs and each of his tries to trick humans to build a portal for him.

- A spin-off of Stanley and Stanford's adventures in Stan'O War. Maybe we would get to know more characters, like saylors or old friends of theirs.

- A spin-off about the childhood/teenage years of Stanley and Stanford in New Jersey. I think it would be fun to see a rivalry between the two Stans and the Sibling Brothers (those blonde twins from the comics) and some school situations that they have been through.

- A little spin-off of Stanley's schemes to sell things during the 10 years he was far from his family. Each episode would tell a story of a different product to trick people and in the end of every episode, he would be expelled from the city where he was selling it. There could also be some romantic episodes of Stanley's relationships (I would like to see Marylin with him, ya know).

- A little spin-off telling what happened to Blendin before and after the Weirdmageddon. I know it is revealed in Journal 3's letter, but I'd like to see more of his life while he was running away from the Time Agents.

(Please, just ignore the fact that most of my ideas are about Stanley and Stanford, they are my favourite characters)

Another Gravity Falls AU idea I had:

During blendens game, somone points out they should get two time wishes because they both beat blendin. So they do. They give one to soos, and keep the other for themselves. Obviously, Dipper wants to use it to meet the Author, and I cant think of anything Mabel would want bad enough at this point in time to really get in his way.

Now this could go multiple ways.

A. they hoard the wish like a limited resource in a video game (same) and it eventually gets used to either end weirdmageddon or stop it from happening in the first place (Mabel using it to wish for more summer instead of accidently dealing with Bill)

or B, what I think is more likely, Dipper wishes to meet the author.

This, too, could go multiple ways. Ford comes back way earlier in the show, OR...

Dipper gets sent to another dimension.

For the stories sake, he'd left Journal 3 at home that day- or perhaps made a copy of some sort, I can imagine him copying everything in it down in another book due to his obsession with it. Either way, Mabel and Stan work together, now having journals 1 and 3.

And as for Dipper, well, he meets Ford. In the middle of some sort of battle, most likely. There are countless different things this could lead to, but mostly bonding, I think. Bonding and Truama from running away from otherwordly horrors.

Ford tells Dipper about his experience with Stan, and Dipper tells Ford about his own. Dipper being a more emotionally intelligent version of Ford probobly gets him to get over at least a little of his resentment.
